You don’t understand how MMR works. Learn a bit about it, and then blame the system when you understand it better :P
- Rank is not an indication of MMR. A person can have a high rank due to many games played, but a poor MMR because they suck.
- You’ve only recently started PvP. Your MMR has a very high “uncertainty” which means you will be matched with a wide range of players, good or bad. As you win and lose, the system will learn your skill level, and your MMR will settle down to a low “uncertainty” value. And it will match you with people close to that MMR.
- It’s all moot anyways, because this is a low population game. The system will try to create fair matches with similar MMRs, but if there aren’t enough players it will just create matches with the players available.
- In a situation with perfect matchmaking, your win rate should be 50%, since you’ll always be matched with people of your skill level. Since you are just started PvP, you’re being matched with a wide variety of players. And since I assume you’re not very experienced yet, that means you’re below average in skill, and thus can expect to lose more than you win. Just stick with it and it will settle down.

Aand then see what new rifle/pistol/hammer legendaries will come out: i like Predator but doesnt really fit engi (i run a super rifle atm for the shotgun vibe), even if it fits charr (anyway 360 no scope kills ftw), Quip is hilarious but won’t spend that much for a non serious skin, and Juggernaut has cool effect but doesn’t seems very hammer-ish.

I disagree with mostly everything in your post besides this comment. However I felt this was the most important and rendered everything else moot. Changing the scaling and such isn’t really needed I don’t think anything as it stands should change just mechanics that are more accepting towards things other than just burning down the boss and dodging out of red circles.
It’s much easier to stay alive if you constantly have boons like regen and prot. You don’t need high damage to steer pugs into more support, you need STEADY, INTENSE PRESSURE.
This.So.Much.

There will be much verticality, and that’s what makes a map interesting, since in the same volume you can build so much more content.
Will you need to glide and mushroom hop? surely, but not 24/7

Definetly worth a try!
BTW the only thing the FT needs is a ground targetting #2 (because in current state is so weird to aim correctly) and circular field on #4. Maybe also halve the ticks on #1 and double the damage per tick to cover a bit the retal question, even if the fast ticks are amazing for on hit/on crit sigils/traits.
I’d take Generosity over Leeching to get rid of those pesky with FT#1 (easy to proc even currently with nades), doom is good since we loose GK#5 ;-)

i feel the verticality and sharp angles of the map will definitely break zergs apart. i hope there is still room for open field fights somewhere, hopefully over some important objective!
I think that’s the perfect mix, overall small and coordinated group on the map that can rejoin on the last final objective.
Zerging should be an option, not the standard as it is today…

What i really hope is one, gigantic and massive map, like ESO… make that in the new Borderland style (vertical, with traps, real choke points to control, etc) and we’ll have the best WvW in the world.

Getting against teams with the same class x2-3 and being with the same class x2-3 isn’t very fun and greatly reduces either teams chance of winning. It’s a bad daily.

Well, with all the pact helicopters and such in the HoT trailers, it’s why it makes me even more certain the engi specialisation will be the commando.
Maybe engi’s will get more variety in their tops too? No more trenchcoats. Though that is wishful thinking on my part… I had to get the glorious chest for my medium classes because it was literally the only top skin that didn’t cover my derrière. Things we have to do…
I know the feel…we Charrs got it bad too…fortunately also T3 chest comes without trenches, so grand total of 2 skins available! :-D

Oh well so I back off on my words, seems I missed that bit. From the last interviews with Colin I really was pretty sure that Xpac would put a wall only on Maguuma stuff + every other LW update forward (specializations are tied to LW for example), and everything else will be in the core game too (actually the game is always one, there will be massive “IFs” in the code to disallow access to xpac things if you do not own it): it applies to everything (defiant changes, borderland & stronghold, camera changes, etc in core game since ain’t maguuma related) it was logical to me have the Masteries behave the same way…time to check that!

I predict it will be freaking awesome.
I understand the EotM hate (but basically it’s because is just a karma train).
The good about EotM is the map design but besides some good mechanics here and there it didn’t add anything new to the battles.
Now this new borderland with same geography but with those interesting mechanics (REAL choke points, traps, team split and coordination) I believe the real fun in WvW is about to start.

There we go again! I won’t give up on this, so I’ll post one more time.
Mists and Tyria are on different time streams. Mists als have a very messy and fragmented time stream allowing time travels.
Time X = pre personal story
Time Y > X = Rytlock goes into Mists, becomes Revenant and teaches
After training you can actually come back before time X, with no paradoxes at all…
Only thing left is when you’ll meet Rytlock pre-revenant (between X and Y), two options:
- Rev Rytlock tells you to shut up and avoid temporal problems;
- Coming back from Mists could have made you loose memory (<- most likely)

They dont have granades. Engi on the other hand uses rifle as shotgun. And we still miss that awesome outfit!
Remember that specialization means new weapon, new utilities, new traits.
Isn’t a stretch to see Thief get turned into some kinda Sniper/Commando with the Rifle. “Flashbang” sounds like a great utility for Damage, Daze followed by Blindness after Daze wears off

Donari is correct. No price has been announced as yet. Nor has it been announced whether or not we’ll be able to purchase the expansion by converting gold to gems. (I know some people are banking on this and are buying gems currently to stock up lol). Personally I figure it’ll be right around 40$ – ish.
As for what’s locked and what’s not after the expansion, here’s what I know thus far:
- The base game will still be available to play. The new content is not mandatory to continue playing it.
- Specializations will only be available to those that purchase the expansion
- Revenent will only be availalbe to those that purchase the expansion
- Mastieries are also only available to those that purchase the expansion
- New chapters of the Living World will also be locked behind the purchase of the expansion (youtube interview, with MattVisual I think. Will reverify)
- Stronghold and new WvW borderland will not be locked behind the expansion purchase. (To not split the playerbase for those play modes)
All correct except Masteries, only the Maguuma one will be out of reach, the “old tyria” ones will be available and usable.

show me a 1v1 vs cele engie lol….you won’t cause you will obliterated hardcore, necro is absolutely 100% no hard counter to cele engi….not even close….that was cool to hide behind that excuse about a year ago…..engie is 100% beyond overpowered atm, hell it doesn’t even require the engie to know where it’s enemy is….aoe everywhere, cc out of it if too much….and keep aoe spamming again..
“Necro posting” means you brought back a very old post..in this case a month-old one… ;-)
And btw no, if you stand there and take all the aoe is your fault…i for example suffer very much rangers and necros..and bunker guardians offer always a nice fight.

Anyway I do believe the bad matchmaking is due to kind of low population on ranked…un practice is also all kittened up…by far i have the best games in unranked, still no leatherboard there :-(

I usually start with plain meta builds and then tweak them around..like atm I’m running a nice variation of cele rifle engi which sometimes falls into knight…i think that’s the way to go ;-)

A few months ago I was curious about that spot, and I started killing all the mobs around there, and after I killed the last tendril that’s outside the cave the vines actually cleared way, and inside were a few vet mordem wolves and more vines, maybe a couple of husks, and lastly one of those little chests like the ones in random places in other maps.
I couldn’t get the chest opened though as I couldn’t kill all the veteran mobs fast enough; they’d keep interrupting me too. Eventually the vines shut and I got trapped, overwhelmed and died. I haven’t bothered trying for the chest again since.
Woa never knew! Time to burn down some plants XD

I think people still confuses viability vs efficiency.
Is every build viable? Almost yes, you can clear any PvE content in any gear/trait.
Can you expect every team comp to have the same performance? Heck no, that would be extremely wrong.
Anything is vialbe, zerk/assassin is optimal.
And by optimal we mean “it takes the less time possible if played perfect”.
In PvE optimal is “fastest”, in Wvw is “kill and dont get killed”, hence other sets are viable.
The only fix I see needed in PvE is condition viability, because a full condi users comp will make any run a pain, no need to list why.
Since more defensive gear is really viable in WvW where there’s more frequent attacks, maybe a little upgrade in this way in PvE could bring even more diversity after condition fix.
Those are mine 2 coppers, anyway.

I agree with everything but I also understand they policy: I think they are scared of spreading the community in multiple queues and possibly make the PvP feel even more empty.
For starters i really believe “practice” has to go as option, only ranked and unranked, based on our brand new and shiny point system.
Unranked can follow the RNG system, maybe having 1 conquest, 1 tdm, 1 stronghold in map option.
Ranked should be divided by game mode.
Total number of queues: 4 (today is 3)
I believe this would work.

Status bar indicator + small graphical tweak is the way to go, and by small i mean something that’s easily deployed and tested.
When or after HoT hits, the “no resources” excuse has to drop: cmon ANET, engi community deserved that for so much time.

Hi forum!
While talking hobosacks in the other thread I came up with this idea: mastery tracks for each class.
First think that struck me was balance…but I think it’s workable, maybe something more cosmetic than power/skill related.
What do you think? Any specific idea for classes? ( i thought of no hobosack as first mastery for engi, even if would be preferrable to have this fix regardless XD)
