yeah is this for basically any skill, the after cast is not shown and might make calculations a bit off

I do hope this comes as due fixes and not a feature pack. Good suggestions tho.
On Partecipation thing I’d expand that and I’d keep it regardless of map instance switching, disconnect or fast LA port and back: there’s a decay system in place if you do not partecipate, just make it faster and keep the partecipation whatever happens.
This + revamped LFG (i’d add at least region subtabs in the open world) + spot for disconnects would wipe clean 90% of the complaints.
;-)
Wat r u, casul?
yeah, is in the chest after the boss and me and other guildies got it first try.
Maybe try again and if the problem persist contact support
Wat r u, casul?
Yeah this is the main issue with the partecipation system…you should retain it if you switch to another instance of the same map.
Even better, since there’s already a decay mechanic in place (if you afk in a map, after a while, you start loosing partecipation) i’d make it an account bound value that stays even after leaving the map. Make the decay more harsh, tho.
This way there’s no volunteer, instance hopping or disconnect that can ruin your day.
I hope Anet thinks to fix it his way. Would be perfect and would wipe 80% of the issues with the new maps.
Wat r u, casul?
you think I didn’t do that?
Is hard to believe you joined a T4 attempt and nobody was at Axemaster.
Only case is that the attempt just “failed” and people left but that’s rare.
Usually the attemp doesnt reach t4 in night (because people don’t defend before bosses and dont get the map at halfway to T2 at least).
Just try another taxi maybe? And be there before actual bosses phase?
Wat r u, casul?
Indeed. I have full 163/163 in HoT Mastery and still have 12 points left with Shooting Gallery, Fallen Masks, and the 2 adventures in TD i don’t recall the name (the one with the robot and the one with the flamethrower) still in silver and some other achievements here and there to get (like The Eternal title). So yeah you can make it easily.
As JVJD i’ve also just played and I admit i only “grinded” (in quotes because it didn’t felt like that) like 1h in old spider farm and 1h in CoF farm to get with the first the poison mastery and with the second the autoloot mastery, just because I wanted that right away. Everything else was everyday gameplay.
Wat r u, casul?
Well, for people with real jobs, this sounds a like a heck of alot of ‘scheduling’. What every happened to spontaneous fun? I wouldn’t be surprised if Anet implemented a punch clock..so people can just punch their little play cards, play the predefined x amount of hours and get their precious wage, err, loot.
Well except for DS, you can do any map at any time. The times I listed were simply when the maps transitioned between phases.
That’s our point, we don’t want to play to a clock, so technically you can’t do any map at any time. Otherwise you could jump on a TD map and do grenth at any time, but you can’t. These maps should have been player driven like SW. Sadly timers seem to be ANets thing. Which is….. Well you know what I think.
Can you jump onto any map and do a world boss at any time? How about an Orr temple?
Exactly. Also as Sheobix said above neither the alternative is perfect, because it will ask for map hopping as it happens in SW: jump in when map is 90% and enjoy the the final reward.
This is the classic “short blanket” situation where you can’t have both feet and head covered. Both systems have pros and cons.
Imho, overall the current system beats the other, since you can schedule and organize.
When other people ask for the other system all i can see is people that want it the SW’s way so it’s easier, and faster, and casual, while others made the job to get the map there. I firmly dislike this way: people want the player driven maps to be able to jump in at the last second.
Also if you player-drive each HoT map you still look at 1h+ more of chain unless the map is full and can make multiple step simultaneously, so how does this fits in you “busy life” where you have max 1h of gameplay, uh?
I seriously can’t fathom some of the complaints around…
Wat r u, casul?
First generation one: yes.
Second generation one: no, since the precursor collection can be done once.
Anet said however that they are planning on making it repeatable or just recraftable, in the future.
If you saw a dude with 2 HOPEs the second one is just a regular pistol reskinned throught the wardrobe
Wat r u, casul?
I’m not sure it is a failure at all. HoT added a lot of things that are pretty decent.
#1: Harder enemies. I’ve been wanting that for awhile.
#2: Elaborate maps and more involved maps. Always a good thing.
#3: A metroid style of progression where you gain the ability to explore new areas.
#4: The elite specializations are awesome (if a bit power-creepy), and I like playing as most of them.
#5: A large series of collections and achievements for completionists.
#6: Some pretty cool looking skins.
#7: Events that are actually fun to do.So, I like the xpac, and from what I’ve heard it has sold really well, so I wonder what your standard of failure is.
I totally agree with you. I’ll be full honsest and say that yes there are things that need fixing and balancing and badly. But theobjective and the direction this xpac has set up is very much what I desired. I think people are overly salty. It’s not easy to code, and atm it’s christmas holiday (almost finished tho)
So give those devs some times to see the actual fixes they have in store, then maybe you can complain.

Third, premades incur increased MMR for matchmking purposes. Perhaps +5% per peron in a group, so pairs are matchmade at 105% of their actual MMR, and a full premade is at 120%. Numbers a shot in the dark.
Dude that’s a good suggestion! I honestly never though about that very hard, but…this might fix the premade/solo Q situation in a balanced way. Kudos!
ANet take this suggestion seriously!
Wat r u, casul?
Well, in matches is hided so you can’t focus, for example, on low ranks since you can spot them.
In PvP lobby yes, it has a point.
In PvE, well, people show their level/mastery level but cannot show their “pvp level”? I think it’s a bit unfair.
If anything, i’d suggest to make it consistent (strange uh?).
So under name there’s the title, right of the name there’s the guild, left of the name there should be the overall character/account status: level or mastery level, WvW level, PvP level with 3 badges of the same size or sorta.
So if you take a look at someone, you’ll see his overall status. Then hide it when is not needed (like in pvp matches).
Wat r u, casul?
If you mean using a full damage amulet, well, both shiro/glint S/SH+H or Staff (viper’s) or Shiro/Mallyx M/A+S/Sh (Marauder’s) are what you might consider “glass cannons” and currently meta.
They sure defend themselves pretty well but in both cases you cannot add that much more damage to be worth it (also the reason of marauder’s over berserker’s)
Wat r u, casul?
I’d like to scale everything back by a large amount, and have longer (meaningful) fights.
WAT? Fight already take forever in this bunker meta. You need to nerf damage fo DH traps that are tad strong and nefr the bunk potential in general.
Fights need to last less and be way more dependent on reflexes and skill, not a crapload of boons and easy CD to 5→100% you health in 2 secs..

Wat r u, casul?
I’m the first to say the one should play what feels right for him and what enjoys, otherwise there’s no point in playing.
BUT if you do and your choice is to be your own way even if sorta contrast with the outside, at least be a decent person and don’t whine if somethings goes wrong and fails.
Part of the game is to know and learn how to beat the game. This is what i find fun.
And like in real life you cannot buy an hotdog and expect it to cool you down like an icecream, you know?
Honestly even the hot maps require just a tiny sense of practicity and gameplay to enjoy it at full the way you want, being casual all the way you want. Being stubborn and refuse to step a toe outside of your confort zone is just bad habit and should never be encouraged. That’s all I have to say
Wat r u, casul?
How does one get addicted to this expansion?
I really dont know…maybe because they have a duller life than the HoT expansion?
being honest on higher level nothing as really much changes in the “how i play” fare.
I set up a goal, i work on it, a bit every day.
At start i wanted to explore and discover the majority of the new maps/story, levelling my rev+herald and get the spec shield.
Then went to close the majority of related achievements.
The raid came + i wanted to close my Astralaria.
Now that i’m feeling done there i’m back to pvp, daily fractal, guild raids while running in the empty spaces HoT maps metas.
Honesty there’s a ton of things to do, and i dont genuinely get all this hate floating around.
SURE there are issues in balancing of various types, but people only see the bad, never the good, and in HoT there’s plenty good.
Wat r u, casul?
I agree, in fact for now i’m running too a shiro/glint build, just because i feel more confortable
Wat r u, casul?
yeah, i use the staff 5 too, since, even if i like the range of the hammer, feel more competitive on node with my staff
well i guess i can try to use the hammer sometimes, i often have some good laugh with #2 and #4 :P
Wat r u, casul?
I cant access gw2skill from work but even tho I really like the concept of this build, my greatest fear is the CC weakness…how you fare with this? still feels “stable” enough?
Wat r u, casul?
As always it depends on your build, but usually revenant tends to be highly weak on heave CC and Condition application.
The current meta build (mallyx/shiro) aims, actually, to cover this weaknesses (mallyx for condis and shiro for CC) but even there, having the needed legend on cooldown pretty much means dead.
Funnily enough a daredevil (high CC and evades) would be an excellent counter for this build, but ain’t meta, while condi reaper is
Wat r u, casul?
well, i like the way it is, since it otherwise there won’t be any counterplay, but will be basically just a “10 seconds commune” where you cannot be interrupted. If you play the lucky road when joining a creature kill, well, is your “fault”. A good tactic instead would be to focus the killer and finish/disable him in order for you to get the kill.
The luck strat is always a bad strat
Wat r u, casul?
dunno, but i’m back since some days to the pvp scene after all the things i wanted to do in HoT PvE and i’m having a ton of fun…50 matches in, honestly not even one brokenly unbalanced (i had only 1 500-80 because we had a DC) and max 2min queue.
Maybe it will be bad later, but for now I feel it all good.
Wat r u, casul?
I’m kinda having fun in all aspect of the game i can focus on.
In those first 2 months of HoT i have done many achievements/map exploration/open world metas, raids and nailed my Astralaria. Now that i’m satisfied with my progression there i’m focussing back on PvP which is my main gamemode, with guild fractals and raids. As soon as I have cut the gap in leagues I will reintroduce regularly also WvW in the mix, and mind that ’m still doing all kind of world bosses/meta even now, to slow gain some mats for future legendaries. So yeah, I guess you need a break to fresh up your mind. As you know you wont loose precious time in gear grind or whatever
Wat r u, casul?
exactly, mallyx is very good, it just suffers in the current heavy CC meta ;-)
Wat r u, casul?
I run Power Rev (Hammer Sw/Sh) in solo q and think it works very well. Hammer from off point at initial mid fight wins it very often, Sw/Sh for on point fights and sustain.
Make sure you take the stability trait, it not only gives 2 stacks per dodge instead of one but also incresases the duration. It gives you very good stability uptime and allows you to safe stomp after dodge even when you don’t have Facet of Nature on (Impossible Odds causes stomp bug too often – at least for me – and turning off Facet of Darkness just for the blind to stomp is a waste). It is very important in solo q to have someone who can attempt stomps with good success.
about quickness stomping with shiro: activate IO before stomping and there won’t be anybug. It fails to stomp if you activate during the stomping animation ;-)
So safest stomp (unless uber-dps-focussed) is dodge→IO→initiate stomping
Wat r u, casul?
Thanks from me too. I had never done the tangle depths meta before, so I found my way there and groups were forming. I joined a commanders squad as they requested. I was unsure. So I asked them, “just follow or should I go and read up on it and come back later, I’ve never done it, and don’t want it to fail for others.” They said “no, stay..I’ll be telling the steps and what to do all the way, just listen and you can do this!” So..all the way through, every step they were saying what to do, what to watch for, even a few whispers “blue circle means dead, remember that” things like that. I’ll always be grateful for the commander that led that squad I joined that night. I’m always grateful for help but most times afraid to ask but that night, yah, every step of the way I knew what I was supposed to be doing because of them. Thanks commanders!
was it a sexy white charr perchance?

The more i think about it, the more i feel a condi rifle might be the best idea; still missing suitable legend tho. Maybe Fierceshot can still be used, but would be a stretch.
I mentioned in one of my post Kuunavang would suit a conditon Rifle.
With Weapons based on a Legend the Rifle skin can be designed based on Kuunavang’s appearance similar to how the Herald’s Shield is based on Glint’s Wings.
The Utility can be Celestial skills that Kuunavang is known to teach the GW1 characters with the rifle skills based on Kuunavang’s attacks but the non-corrupt version.
I must have missed that…it can work i guess, even if it still misses the legendary vibe
Wat r u, casul?
I prefer Power Rev. Either Sw/S & Staff or Sw/S & Hammer work. Having more fun with Hammer actually, being able to attack from a distance is really nice

Exactly in the first 25 you have access to all possible islands.
If you have at least ascended trinkets (and you shoul really do, since are bloody easy/cheap to get) you can buy the +5 agony infusions from the fractal vendor for 75 fract relics each and put them on your trinks. I’d aim to 25 so 2×75=375 fractal relics needed. Really easy ;-)
Wat r u, casul?
Here is the thing, the system will try to match you with people of your skill, but if there ain’t enough, it has to wider the tollerance in MMR difference, otherwise you won’t play at all. Is a population issue, we just need more players, that’s it.
The MMR system is one of the best around, actually, but if there arent other 9 with similar MMR as you, it has to compensate.
Wat r u, casul?
i run viper rev and i have tons of fun with it in solo queue
(viper rev is condi rev)but honestly power shiro is probably better for solo queue because glint boons
support roles are technically best for solo queue, but can fall apart if your team is not worth supporting
i like condi rev because if my team sucks at dps and holding points, i can win 2v1s and carry my teambut yeah theres your pros and cons between the only two rev builds
i pretty much run condi rev (previously in betas rabbid, now viper) since forever and is ton of fun. I only dislike the facility you can get perma cc when out of shiro (which is godlike) and you dont really want to waist dem dodges. But well, is still ton of fun :P

I don’t understand why the Vengeful Hammers always cancels themselves when they hit a wall or something … it is pretty much unusable for vale guardian if it is at the wall of the area. Or is it something else?
it’s a known but that it break against the walls, but since the range is not huge, just stay a bit away and you can fully use them even on common VG strat ;-)
Anyway yeah, venge ham (without the xploit) is a tiny dps increase and aoe potential but if you feel more confident with mallyx by all means use it, the difference is not big enough to scream about it
Wat r u, casul?
I read it a lot in the latest posts, how players don’t like to group with others, and how grouping makes a game non-casual. I think for a lot of people (even on this thread) translate casual into “getting carried”. There is a reason they like the open world so much, because they can hide behind a tag and a mass of people and just auto attack and get the same rewards as those who actually put the effort. It’s sad really, because those are the kind of players who make events fail.
It’s hard to eliminate those players without using instanced content, but maybe Anet will find a way someday.
yeah, i’m starting to think that the people are actually that lazy and yet feel to be intitled with good reward with no effort. This bugs me hard :/

Wat r u, casul?
Oh totally forgot this thread. No, unfortunately no video. I’d say watch the video of the pro league but they don’t follow one person long enough to actually get a deep understanding of the build unless you are really experienced.
Anyway, give a read to the build description on metabattle, this is a good starting point. After that you need to get some experience so just dive in the games with those tips in mind and try to apply them (“x situation requires y skill or skill combo” look out for those situation and try to react accordingly): the more you play the more this will become easy and natural.
This actually isn’t Rev related but can be applied to any class/build
Wat r u, casul?
I guess it’s nice to see that someone who cares about maxing performance finds some value in stat switch. Certainly to me the switch is not something I’d care about — not if it cost me a new rune set every time I wanted to change builds.
Out of curiosity, do the existing L. Weapons allow stat switch to the new stat choices?
I’ll admit that I tend to be less finicky about rune choices than most min-maxers. I tend to have favoured builds and thus I’ll stick the runes I use the most often on my Legendary/Ascended armor.
And yeah, they do allow switching to the new stat choices. I double-checked with a guildie earlier. Viper’s, Marauder’s and Commander’s were all there. It seems safe to say all the new stats are.
I swapped a celestial ascended set for vipers, it was relatively cheap.
im about to do the same on my engi but all the quartz used there keeps screaming in my ears

I guess LS2 story is hard because people are used to autoattack or mindless throw skill off CD for the whole time up until it.
I soloed it whole with me engi, no kidding, and all the soloable achievement too.
Dunno.
Wat r u, casul?
And the part that makes me the most unhappy about your post, baconofpigs, is that you are absolutely right with everything you say in it.
Efficiency is the key word here. But I make an educated guess here and say that the majority of people don´t want to play at the limit and be efficient. I want to be efficient in my job, not in my spare time. In my spare time, I want to have fun and relax.
I know this lifestyle probably is not modern when people in general are always available for their superiors, face book friends and live to work instead of working to live. But I like it my way.^^
MMM efficiency doesnt mean beign non-casual.. I mean I totally chill with my guildmates doing fractals or hot meta events and we don’t put that much effort, but hey, if in a situation you should use X because is better this is not stressfull is just common sense…i mean, i hope common sense is not stressful for people ò_ò
Wat r u, casul?
While I agree there must be some more active skill for many classes and way less passive procs, I don’t agree on a couple of points you made.
Yes, some classes are actually a big queue of skills to cast off CD, mainly engineer and elementalist but even there, is not that you are most efficient by doing so because you are doing so. I mean: your objective is to kill your target, a skill comes of CD, is good for the moment, you use it. If you “spam” your skill (talking in PvP prospective) a good player will counter you and wreck you very fast. In mid-high tier you HAVE to set up your damage evade at right time, CC at right time and keep your good skill for when the moment is good, otherwise you won’t go much further.
This ties in why actually autoattacking is not a bad thing and why i like fewer skill.
I’m too a kind of veteran of many MMOs before GW2 both famous and not. I played WoW, Aion, Tera, and things like Requiem or Metin2 (yeah, i’m ashamed XD).
You know what? 40 skill in a bar was a clusterkitten in the gameplay, it makes it way dynamic and makes you stare at the UI and makes you way more “rotation dependant”. I mean, in Aion it was ALL about the rotation and if you could pull it off before your foe (especially if you were playing a sorcerer or a ranger). So no, I like 10-0 the GW2 approach because less skills = more potent skills to use in a more reactional way. And is not me immagining that, many people complain about skill of many classes because they are “too situational”…well, they are supposed to be.
I’ll be, in the end, advocate of the devil since togheter with engi i main a revenant.
Revenant is probably the most reactional class in GW2 if you want to play it well. Not only you have to manage CD but also energy, making every skill activation (well amost, but at least the important one) and every-second-decision. Yes the core of your damage is AA, but you won’t get far if you just AA, and if you spam skills, you are as good as dead.

Wat r u, casul?
are you telling us that diamond skin is fine ? and a good design ?
yeah indeed, at least now if a chrono bunker tries to invlun all the time he actually loose the cap point. DS eles, for a condi build, are just kitten annoying, especially because that’s combined with an insane regeneration and heal…
Wat r u, casul?
Well WoW and GW2 are different games in term of gameplay, so the overall judgement on raids is not that clear.
Having played both I can tell you that WoW is more strict in DPS checks and timers and deads BUT the success is highly dictated from your gear: once you have that in the right spot, the mechanics are not that difficult, because the gameplay is stale and you have to just pay attention to cooldowns in a UI that’s 50% automatized or guided by mods/plugin.
In GW2 yes is better to have ascended, but after the full exotic clear from my fellow partners has demonstrated, movement/player awarnes and perfect execution/counter to boss mechanic is the key for winning.
It’s way more engaging and mentally demanding, requires you to be actively thinking. In WoW it was way more slower and less “mechanically” difficult.
So, IMHO raids in GW2 > WoW, and we still need to see 2 other wing that, most probably, will be more strict in mechanics and gear.
I totally can’t wait.
Wat r u, casul?
Kibrun sunk orr with the Cataclysm, Burntfur pretty much wiped ascalon with the Searing, Fierceshot basically freed the whole charr race from the shaman cast changing for sure the history allowing the charr to able to ally with the other races in the later years.
Yes maybe Fierceshot is the weakest of the 3, but all left a huge scar in history, imho
Wat r u, casul?
Anyway, since we are still in this discussion, I invite people to write here your ideas of what to implement that gives:
- meaningful progression (= a progression you can feel and gives tangible results)
- progression that doesnt invalidates previous progression
- totally no repetition of content (so 100% unique content, not even “same stuff in another wrapper”)
- doesn’t block (no skill required, no level required, nothing)
- has the potential to span at least a couple of months
Surprise me, because there’s not a single game i can think of in my whole 20y of gaming experience that can make this. Driving games? repeat the tracks for better time/position and get money/token to ugrade your car to other challenges. Single player RPG? Like the incredible Witcher 3? The story is ofc great, but to level up you do the same old same old: bandits or monsters and after 4-5h are always the same. Try craft withcer gear too and let me know. The game actually ends after 100h max (very generous) than you repeat all, or you drop it (for instance i’ve logged 240h on my rev in hot, and i played my engi too).
But I see no1 screaming for grinding in W3. I mean, what do the people want, I .. can’t fathom. Gw2 has one of the best system in place, probably people want pears out of an apple tree…
