Just FYI unrelenting assault is a MINOR dps boost from autoattacking…only good thing is just the evade/follow…since we already had a 20% CD increase in BWE3 i do not see any more nerfs incoming.

Okay, I’m not the only one with this problem then. I just hope this bug will be fixed as soon as possible. I retried to get some waypoints in VB and it gives exp which means it did really reset. I’m not gonna retry to complete the map, it might cause problem.
I recommend that people with affected characters play other characters that are not fog-afflicted until we resolve these symptoms. If you wish to continue playing refogged characters it is very unlikely to cause any problems. We will fix your account during time that you are logged-out or after a hotfix.
Testing and deploying our change may take a day or more, but your refogged state is repairable.
An ETA is still unknown.

Everytime people says GW2 and Grind in the same phrase it makes me laugh…you fellas never played a grindy game…If you feel GW2 grind is because you force yourself to make it so, like farming COF1 for Tyria Masteries instead of just playing…
Also people complain so much about overall masteries exp requirement but i just need like 4 unlocks to finish it and my issue are Mastery Points, not the exp…and with time i have like max 2h per day to play…And I’ve done in this time Halloween, PvP, WvW…

Revenat is also kinda squishy for a heavy armor class, so active defense is super important.
This is the main reason people run shiro and glint: former give massive mobility/evasion, latter great support.
Since energy is a finite resource you cannot expect to spam skills on CD, instead Revenant, like thieves, is a very reactional class where you use a skill ONLY if you need it, otherwise you’ll run out of energy quickly. We have therefore a huge tie to our autoattacks.

Yeah was just trolling a bit…anyway there was a little message that, since I really haven’t had a single client crash/bug since HoT start, maybe people are playing the game on too higher settings and they full the RAM or whatever. After all is 2015 product, even if based on more than 3y engine and whatever. Just saying.

I agree, Revanant hammer is over tuned, especially the auto and the no. 2 skill.
Hint,,, fight Hammer Rev up close to reduce damage, and reflect
Up close is kinda hard when they are spamming it from longer range than any other skill in the game and still have sword/shield defense and damage.
well..is kinda the problem we had with pewpew rangers since launch, but I see that people have adapted, maybe do the same?

I generally agree Jalis need a bit cutout on cost or an improve in effects, not big, just slight.
Road is just TOO SLOW and applies poor stab after the nerf in BWE3, it can only be acceptable if it would be almost instant.
Cost/benefit of taunt is not worth: i’d vote for an incresed effect along with a higher CD to compensate, same cost.
Given the potential of Glint (aoe protection on demand for 5 upkeep = 20% reduction AoE) vs Hammers (VERY low dmg/heal + 20% redu dmg and condi, only caster, 7 upkeep) i TOTALLY see hammers to be brought down to 5 upkeep too.
Elite and heal are the only good ones, especially elite after the cast time buff.

GS might add that tipical Revenant twist to weapons, but then we’d miss 2h melee power.

Ofc anything is personal so it’s honest you don’t like how things are done in HoT but here’s the thing.
1) MetaEvents – People wanted things to play, that have some kind of story, that makes progression: meta-chain maps are a spectacular way to do so, you can fill this with some many things, events, achievements…no surprise Dry Top and Silverwastes were enjoyed so much. With HoT they took it to the next level and is nicely done. Chains are fun, you really feel you are working towards a goal. I really like this. Again, you might not, and it’s fine.
2) Exploration – I don’t know the people concept of exploration but to me is running around try to find curious spots, get in difficult places to get and overall “master” the zone. Now in core tyria this task is too much easy..maps are flat and it’s not that difficult to get anywhere. Vertical exploration + Masteries to unlock abilities is, again, a great wat to explore, gives you progression and a real feel of discovery, like old Castelvania/Metroid/Zelda games. Anet said many times they were gonna to add this kind of exploration and they delivered. Not disappointed. I have real reasons to stick on a map, do events, explore and rexplore once i’ve unlocked a new ability.
3) Grind (especially masteries) – It always boils down to what you consider grind. Grind is usually work towards a goal in a boring, repetitive way: kill the same mob, do the same event non stop, etc etc. Now, masteries DO take lot of exp/time to finish. THey are supposed to. They are, in the end, end-game progression. What’s the point of an expansion if you haven’t anything to work towards? How could you sustain the gameplay? You know why you hardly replay a single player game? After the story, you have no real point to play again, except, guess what, something like restart at higher difficulty (goal) complete all achievements (goal), get all the possible items (goal). Goal goal goal. Progression progression progression. Is the only way to keep doing something. Like when you go to gym…you keep going because your making progressions. Progression is the fuel of our life.
So if you take away progression (even making it too fast) will leave you with not many things to do. On the specific matter, I consider myself almost “hardcore” player in the intention, but unfortunately I have “casual” time slots available (due to work/sport/social life): after a week i’d say I’ve cumulated…24h of gameplay? I’ve fineshed the story and almost unlocked all the “ability” masteries (except ley-line gliding), finished fractal masteries in core tyria and other minor stuffs.
24h where i’ve never “grinded”, just explored every map, done meta events 4-5 times per map, done adventures, had fun. Guess i’m no where near halfway? So far time/cost this expansion is WELL worth, EXTREMELY worth if you consider this expansion was all about gameplay changes like masteries, traits&elite specs, raids, fractal rework and not too much about content (this was stated by anet). Even so, it’s still worth.
tl;dr;
A game needs progression, HoT gave progression in a meaningful way. Don’t rush it, enjoy it.

The only downside i see in hot story is that is short, and being short doesnt allow to elaborate much.
The storytelling itself, instead, was a HUGE step forward..engaging, fast…i very much liked it.
The lore however is there, scattered through maps chain events, sylvari appartied IS there (there are even achievs!) as well all the lore about the maps you pass through…just play them

whatever, we just need that slow somehow reliable in our skills..it would another unique aspect to us (opposite to mesmers that gives mostly quickness/alacrity)

The issue here is that Revenants are supposed to manage 1 resource: Energy.

Necros manage cooldowns and death shroud. Mesmers manage cooldowns and illusions. Warriors manage cooldowns and adrenaline. Revenants manage cooldowns and energy. And so go on.Engineers manage cool downs and carpel tunnel.

anyway I agree…energy+cd is proven as one of the best system to create nice skills and balance them…every class should work like this somehow…it was like this in GW1 (mana + cd) and it worked great.

There wont be any buffs bc they added cd’s, olny nerfs.
Roads need a major buff, i agree, the phase traversal was honest at least, i’ve been using this new version since a day now and it doesn’t seems bad…3s would be better but meh…

i’ve solod both in zerker and in sinister all champs that do not require particular coordination for a group (i couldn’t, for example, make the vampiric one on the canopy in verdant)
Both were pretty effective, shiro evade is kind and if timed well allows you pratically perma evade like a boss (since gives back endurance)

back in BWE1 there wan’t invuln on it, and it was a gigantic SUICIDE button. In BWE2 they added invuln and in BWE3 they reiased the CD.
It’s totally fine actually. If you die for it is just your fault. Maybe don’t run marauders build with no stunbreak/block/invuln…where you’d be wrecked by mesmers or thieves anyway…
Rev is new, learn it and counter it like you have done on release with other classes.

I like the suggestion in this thread that Staff #2 should be just plain daze, without flip-over skill. Would make it worth using.
That is a good point. The flip-over nature of the skill makes it really unreliable to use as an interrupt. I get that it would lose some of it’s unique flavor, some damage, and application of weakness if it were just a daze, but on the other hand it would actually be useful as an interrupt.
The question is, what would we propose for the energy and cooldown of a 1/4 sec PbAoE daze?
Currently costs 15 energy and has minimum 5 second cooldown. I wouldn’t like to see the cooldown too high, because I think the high energy cost would minimize too much daze spamming. Maybe keep the 15 energy cost and cooldown somewhere between 5-10 seconds?
since thieves has no cd daze on 3/10 initiative i’d say to make 5s cd and 20 energy

lol. Try to play dupport rev. You can’t do anything, cos all abilities cist energy.
Or try don’t play without herald/shiro builds (or most popular herald+shiro) and show you damage power…
you are not suppose to spam ability on cd like other classes.
and this is actually confirmed since the highest dps calc on rev requires the majority of the hits to be AA, other skills are situational/reational.

cd+energy is the perfect combination.
Energy allows to create powerful effects without much fear while cd stops the skill to be spammed (otherwise you’d need energy costs over 50% and would be unusable)
rev system is the better version of thief’s one.

I usually don’t post such shortsighted posts, but given how OP presented the matter I only have to say l2p.
Try play with half decent opponents than you’ll know how badly a rev can be countered especially since everybody likes to run YOLO-Shiro/Glint-Marauder build.
HINT: Shiro heal is in fact a DPS boost not a true heal, Glint heal is in fact damage assorb. Guess what block the first, stop attack on the second. Load with condis. Rev screwed.

I’m a little confused. Why did OP say that scholar is best for party groups, and that strength is best for solo. Using Herald with strength runes gives everyone around you about 14 perma might, maybe more if you have food or what not. Can anyone explain this?
When you solo, you are the only available source of might, therefore strenght runes help tremendously in that regard.
While in group there are other sources and the overall duration of might become less of a problem, so you are free to focus on a more damaging runeset.

Except since we have next to no stability besides on dodge, We get absolutely destroyed by daredevils with their knockdown spam, and dragonhunters with their instakill traps+gs 5 combo with no way to escape.
To be fair many classes do not have good access to stability but can compensate this with other things. Our reply is Shiro.
