Both Burtnfur and Fierceshot would be excellent candidate for a pure condi legend that we actually need (mallyx is not a pure condi).
Burntfur I think qualifies for scepter (even if, as of now, no main hand elite specs has been introduced) or torch OH.
Fierceshot can have any ranged like longbow, shortbow, rifle, pistol. I actually hope for rifle (predator FTW) or pistol MH (since we still need that ranged MH/2H condi); longbow would be cool and i feel shortbow a bit…dull. 
Also in the whole discussion I’d still like a MH condi raged axe, but I have an hard time to find a really good fitting legend…
Who know maybe the rule of no main hand with spec was just for this generation, the next one could break it

I think the main problem is that you people are considering this a standard channeled ability, which is not. UA requires a target for each hit, otherwise it breaks: where would you teleport to if you havent a target? So even if you press 1 button it is actually a trigger for 7 separated attacks that will count as 7 skill activations, and that’s also the same reason why we cannot break out of it once cast: is not one long skill (like 100b), is a chain of 7.
That’s why it is fine to be affected 7 times by confusion, and mind you that I’m maining a rev, so is not that i’m trying to nerf them or what.
I’m totally fine with this, and even if it would possible to avoid this with some trick in the skill script, I’m against it. UA is pretty strong, has a long evade in good damage and generates might. It has very few counters, let confusion be one of those.

Well apparently Mallyx is pretty much meta in high tiers, so i guess yes.
But since the mid tiers are kinda strange, this might vary.
If you feel confortable with it, it should be totally possible.

I agree. Its not challening its just annoying. Why? Many reasons have already been posted.
- Too complex maps. Where do i have to go? Contested waypoints!
- Boring (CC rider thing) and annoying enemies (disappearing frogs).
- Too complex masterie system
- From end game is play what you want too you have to grind masteries
- You always need at least some one else for too much content
- If a map has a few people. People are rather taxiing out.
1) Map complex? I agree and that’s the good thing…don’t know how to reach a place? Learn the map. Even TD once you know the 4/5 entrances the subareas besides Confluence, Lanes and Outposts is really straightforward
2) Ok, tell me how you’d make a combat more difficult, becauser more damage/defence apprently is booring (see fractals) and a smartar UI that can dodge, stealth and CC is booring too. Enlight me pls. I like how the mobs are in HoT maps, at least you have to activate a couple of neuron more than usual….
3) Complex…mastery…system? Are you serious. I mean..is linear arguably the simpliest thing possible..what’s complex aobut masteries?
4) You don’t have to grind them, you actually need just gliding, updraft, mushroom jumping and those are unlock casually in maybe the first 2 hour of gameplay? DOn’t tell me 2h is grind. Others are optional to unlock “special” stuff around (finish collections, more mastery points, exploration, etc etc) but to enjoy the map and the metas are not actually required. You have other higher, longer, goals? Well that’s progression and can come naturally as you play. Seriously I only “grinded” the Tyria Mastery Tree for autoloot and the Itziel mastery bar for poison immunity. I wanted that unlock right away and i worked for that, i was not forced, it doesnt felt a grind. I choose what to do.
5) yes you sometimes need someone else for some content but I can reliably say that more of the 70% of the maps is soloable. Now Champ HP and meta events are developed as group content and I see nothign wrong there.
6) Now this is something i can agree too. But is not an issue with hot but the megaserver/map instance system in general. The system as flaws that have to be fixed, but i have to say people are incredibly lazy and even if i enjoy organize meta, aspecially TD, sometimes is tiresome because people don’t listen and won’t to put a little work in there to succed. Bummer.
I’m honestly growing tired of those posts. I think I won’t reply that precicely as I’ve done now anymore. I mean, try to be honest with you and try to figure out if the stuff is really a grind and is hard or if is the people that is actually lazy and want everything day one with no work attached. That last thing seems more a social issue in too, and I see it often IRL too…meh..

Condi Revenant is not bad, but in the current group setup is not as much valuable as a power one.
With that out of the way, a condi build is surely viable, especially in open world.
Even in this case i’d actually suggest an hibrid one since the defensive stats are just damage loss. So either Sinister’s or Viper’s gear or a mix.
Basically grab mace/axe + sword/ or hammer or staff depending on situation; Corruption, Devastation, Herald; Mallyx + Glint.
The key trait in corruption is diabolic inferno: try to keep it on cd activating the elite every 10s. Keep mobs in the firefield and add torment as you can. I may suggest as sigils geomancy and the condi damage one (can remember hte name atm), runes of scrapper.
Not much to add. I thought about a rabbid tank but i cannot comment on that atm ;-)

The problem is not the mob, even tho she’s overpowered, it’s the spot.
Putting a mob that does destructive and LASTING area of effect attacks in a confined small space is silly.
Even well timed dodges can’t avoid it.
It’s not just too hard, it’s also very bad implementation.

HoT isn’t a game full of grind. It’s a game full of long term goals.
But people want things now, so they try to get those long term goals as if they were short term goals. This results in the sensation that the game is ‘full of grind’.

Dunno you guys, but is my fav map, in close competition with AB.
I like because is difficult to navigate, i dont like plain maps where if you want to go to a place you just run towards the general direciotn of you destination and basically you are there.
To appreciate TD you have learn TD, and is not even that hard. it’s all based around the Ley Line Confluence and you just have to learn the entrance of the specific sub areas in the lanes. It’s a beautiful map both in the layout and in the colors, insidious if you are not caring enough.
I’m a bit disappointed in the Gerent “fix” (now is totally puggable and with squads of 12-13 peps per lane): don’t get me wrong, I agree it was needed since was way out of line confronted to VB or AB (which do fail too) and the map is still the slowest to give his currencty/ascended material, but it was fun to organize

As a charr engi:
Some animation looks weird, like using “one-handed” mortar shots.
And a lot of chest pieces especially coats and helmets doesnt fit well to charr, they are clipping with the tail and horns.
Some long rifles are clipping with the ground while holding.

I used to considered this the best MMO ever and infact prior to HoT I rarely said a bad word about it….well that’s changed with this expansion; I can’t say one positive thing about the HoT.
I could say almost the exact opposite. GW2 was a MMO with some good ideas with mediocre execution and a very shallow end game. HoT has revitalized the game for me by expanding that end game to something that actually tests me somewhat. I do have my own issues with some of the content but overall I’m ecstatic about HoT and the direction they are going in.

Devs – this is ANOTHER instance of requiring an event to fail to get the reward.
Please adjust, as you have with similar scenarios.
You do realize that you’re not failing any events, right? It’s absolutely nothing like the events that you have to fail to spawn the event that has what you need for the collection.
indeed, is an achievement, is normal you might have to do something out of the line.
Also, since I’m pugging/organizing the map since 3 days now with 10 successes so far and 1 fail, I can tell by experience that pugs usually need a 3rd phase to DPS even without thinking of it..if happens just ask to hold DPS for achievement. Not that hard.

I’m actually not happy about some of the fractal changes. Sure, the increased gold yield is nice. But there’s also the following:
First they offer the opportunity to buy fractal weapon boxes for 20 pristines. So I buy fractal weapon boxes. Now I have the fractal skins, and they start dropping random fractal weapons almost daily for me. Instead of the Stabilizing Matrices that I need lots and lots of.
When you’re cursing your luck for getting a fractal skin instead of a measly single Stabilizing Matrix, it’s obvious that something is not right. These skins should drop in addition to the regular reward, not instead of it, because they’re drops of limited appeal. Even if you enjoy occasionally getting one of these skins as a drop, that elation will quickly pass when you keep getting skins you’ve already unlocked, again and again. Especially when you need hundreds of the drop they replace.
I do not agree with you. First of all these boxes are available when you complete lvl 50 fractals. Which means that you already are a high lvl player. At this point Rewarding you with a fractal weapon seems fair.
Then stabilizating matrice can be bought everywhere, TP, daylis…Finally are you seriously crying about having awesome rewards?
That is really weird my friend.I am actually really thankfull towards arena for finally giving us back good rewards in 5 man group content. It took some time, but in the long term we will all forget the 2 first months
If you actually read and comprehend Manasa’s post the thing is, they already have all the fractal skins unlocked (or at least all the ones they wanted anyway), so further fractal skin drops do literally nothing for them, it’s a waste of a reward slot. I’m sorry but Manasa’s 100% right random drops should never be account bound or gods forbid soul-bound, this just leads to players being stuck with items they can do nothing with.
but that’s not true, since you need said item for the recipe to make a golden fractal skin…

On a serious note, yeah, I’m waiting for those too but since I’m pretty sure the gift of infinity will need a specific gift tied to a collection (like 4th step of the new legendaries) they are still working on that, same as the gift of fractals. It will be probably tied to some kind of fractal progression, maybe leaderboards.

Me too…also…having some goals in the game that aren’t casual doesn’t break any statement because you know, there aren’t only the casual in the game!
You can experience almost anything at your pace and leisure…what are people really complaining about? I feel the world is going upside down, people don’t want to give a bit of work into things and everything as to be done lazily. WTF world, wake up.

Well, i really liked the place it was before yesterday…as a commander withing GW2Community I had GREAT fun in doing it. But i also look at the fact that TD currency (needed for Acid to open the map chests and get Leyline sparks, and also for the legendary gifts) is seriously scarce confronted to AB or VB, making it unbalanced to farm.
At least now is consistent with other metas…and god knows how much we need some serious consistency in GW2

Every day its the same routine:
Save Tarir , Kill Mordy the wooden Mushu , Try and do a TD and hope it doesn’t fail.

The same old boring dungeons that none was enjoying and everyone was doing only if they wanted to get money for something. At this point I would like to remind to everyone the definition of grinding : Repeating the same content over and over AND OVER again, the exact same and fastest way possible with your only goal being the reward

No, the game doesn’t need more challenging content, it needs more FUN content. Challenge =/= fun
Thats just your own opinion. For some people the challenge is the fun part. I for one enjoyed it the way it was (after the nuhoch fix, before that it was a bit too much). It wasn’t a guaranteed win, but it was close (with a coordinated group). Now if what op and other say is true, it’ll be just as easy as DS

hi guys , i hate this moment right now ,because i am new , i always played my enginner but in pvp , now that i am lvl 80 with all berseker stats but now i have a really good clan and i am starting to play wvw and pve , they told me that my full dps build is not the best and maybe it is better a condition build , should i need to change all or continue full berseker ?
in pve yeah condi is a step ahead but power is very viable too.
Anyway do not despair: if you have ascended for weapons and armors you can convert the stats in the mystic forge, while trinkets, well, they bloody easy to get anyway

OK i had to log in while at work because i HAD to reply to this.
Cash shop, when it’s not p2w (and in GW2 is not, since is only skins/conveniences) has nothing wrong: you can support your devs and we also have the $ to Gems to Gold conversion that effectively had SHUT DOWN gold sellers in game. You know what’s baed about gold selling? It crashes the economy. In GW2 instead we sorta have a stable and checked economy, a luxury in many other games.
Now onto skins in HoT vs GemStore.
I’ll not count races or genders as multiplier since even outfits are different per race/sex, but still the skin differs and that is even more work/variety.
What armors we got in HoT?
Revenant (1heavy), Bladed (3 weights), Ley Line (3w), Guild “light/black” (3w*2 dunno how to get those) = 13 different sets (not counting race/sex)
Coming soon Legendary armors that will be, as current precursors, (3 tiers+1final)*3 weights = 12 more sets (not couting race/sex)
All of this in a xpac forever labeled as low on content, high on game features (which is true) so if Anet doesn’t bail you can expact even more in next expansions.
Also usually LS (that should be coming soon too) will almost surely bring another set.

Let’s make some assumptions and I want to get people’s opinion about this. They can disagree or agree with it.
- 16 maps exactly like core Tyria
- Map meta no more difficult than what you find in core Tyria
- Everything is scalable like in core Tyria
- Masteries require half the XP they do now and can be done anywhere
- Masteries require fewer MP than they do now
- All items that are bought with currency require 50% less
- All precursor collections cost less than to buy and are worth doing
- HoT story is as long as the personal story
- Elite specializations require 100 hero points to fully unlock
- All HoT hero points can be done solo
Essentially what I’m getting at is if the expansion was essentially what some of the vocal people on the forums with negative impressions of the expansion want.
How much sooner do you think players would have exhausted content compared to the existing iteration of the expansion?
Probably a couple of days and would start kittening again about “no content”.
Let’s be honest folks, you cannot create thounsands of unique content to play.
Even in masterpieces like Witcher 3, many missions can feel grindy because they are always the same stuff (speak/kill)…sure there is some lore around (and there is TON of lore in GW2 too, if you care to get it) but the so long 100h gameplay of W3 can be condensend in maybe 20h of unique gameplay. Maybe.
I feel that combining all maps (stories in all lanes) + personal story we surely have at least 10-15h of unique content.
Then, like ANY game, you start a circle of repetition to “keep up” the fun.
I mean, in a drive game you keep repeting the kitten same track trying to get a lower time or to be the first… and that’s just an example.
In this “circle” then you add rewards and achiev for various stuff to justify the repetition.
Guys, we can be philophers all the time we want but anything in life is rinse and repeat.
The goal is to make it fun and worthwhile.
(Grind here has a “good” meaning, like an “honest repetition”)
IRL we grind our work to have money and get the stuff we want, we grind a sport to become better at that, we grind a game to have fun and achiev some goals with our friends or to show off.
In our specific case I find the “repetition” of GW2 quite enjoyable and now with HoT (where you cannot anymore get almost everything with gold) there is even more weight in the real gameplay you put in game.
An example out of my mind are the new pre/legendaries. Yes they are hella costy (i guess the cost could be lowered a bit) but making one ACTUALLY show of you worked hard on that and you cannot credit card it.
So to sum up, yes, i’m satisfied that GW2 is taking this route. They HAVE to work on polish/balance/bugs but the overall visions are good imho, and this is a game I see myself playing for a long time.

Granted you are right and there are things that need URGENT fixing (i feel too that taxi/map instances/map partecipation is the FIRST thing), I’m really happy with HoT in general and really looking forward for the upcoming features

People are probably “selling” them, with the promise that they will temporarily join your guild and donate them if you pay them “x” amount. So people pay for them, then the person laughs and goes about their day without keeping their end of the bargain.
Let me say, tho , that it’s completely buyer’s fault.
Same as if you want to trade things with another through ingame mail.
YOU KNOW you can get scammed.
The game promotes you to get them by regular play and that should be the way.
If we wanna talk about the required quantities and difficulties for small guilds, well, you might be right.

Thief can play venomshare or DD, warrior is awesome as condi. Those classes have a choice at an alternate harder/more rewarding spec. You as a reve either tank or play glint+ shiro/mallyx.
Funny enough that you list 2 possibilities for thief and warrior (assuming condi warrior opposed to power) as good variance but 3 possibilities for rev are not enough alternatives
Anyway yes, revenant rotations are really easy and straightforward, but that’s because the class plays reactionally and won’t just burst through CDs (like my off main Engineer, which is completely opposite in playstyle).
Sure you can have good dps while afking AAs, but you won’t be a good rev if you do not manage all other skills, support your party and have energy to shoot out eventual CCs.
In simple words, has a low skill floor, but high enough skill ceiling.

Axe#4 doesn’t count since it changes based on the any axe we wield.
So I’d like to ask Arenanet (yes this is just fluff, but hey, Fashion Wars 2 right?)

You never played a grindy game that wants to grind in order to access things.
YES in in GW2 you have to work A LITTLE in order to unlock the “must”: I mean, even for the exotics, you have to run some dungeons or earn some gold right? In order to be 80 you have to play a bit RIGHT?
Are those things a grind?
If your reply is yes then change game, MMOs are this, if you expect everything handed to you play an FPS, that’s not your cup of tea.
On your specific issue.
Elite spec are 250 friggin HP, like 25 in HoT or 250 in core tyria or a mix. kitten? is that a grind?
Challenging content. People ASKED for that, there’s the whole rest of the game that’s terribly casual, leave something to the guys that want to be challenged and that like to work for their goals.
The best argument I’ve read in these days is “hey I’m a casual but i want to work towards a totally non casual goal (Legendary Armor) but I can’t, it’s locked behind a non casual content (Raids)!!!”. SERIOUSLY GUYS?
Also for raid the only ascended you really need is Weapon and Trinkets and those are bloody easy to get, almost like an exotic. It’s not arenanet’s fault if people are so dumb to want full asc for raids. For example it has been proven you need something like 6k DPS on avg for your whole squad to beat Vale Guardian by enrage time. 6K.
Of course this depends on your skill and not on your +70 stat over exotic armor.
Final note, no i’m not whiteknightin, i’m just so much sick of those empty and useless threads. There’s plenty of space for every taste in GW2, is not that everything must appease everyone! I, for example, don’t play casual content, but i’m not demanding Anet to change it. Viceversa leave my challenging content as it is. THANKS.
Now, if you want to talk about bugs or systems that can be improved i’m all ears and Anet has much work to do in that regard, but please stop this “OMG GRIND” nonsense.

Glint/shiro for dps/support is the way to go atm. If support isn’t needed swap glint for mallyx and use EtD for dps and BE for boon stripping
