Oh wow, I was expecting an okay turnout using that build, but holy crap. You actually did really well.
I’m leveling my first engineer now, and trying to be a grenadier.. However, it just feels extremely weak and lacks an “oomph”. Your build strongly reminds me of Operative from SWTOR, and that’s the class I mained.
If you could post an example of your build so I can try it out, I’d love you. It looks really effective. And maybe the enemies were just weaklings, but you were hardly taking damage, which really interests me. My engie is just unbelievably squishy and it gets annoying.
It surely runs alchemy with 2-2-1
I guess firearms with 3-2-3
And since no kits inventions 2-3-2

In pve he said using 3/6 knight 3/6 zerk armor and zerk rifle/trinket

Only way to fix pistol 1 is to have togheter explosion and pierce. That way it would become decent but still behind many other AA. Bleed duration might be good, since bleeding these days hits like wet noddle…

What i’d like to have is a chance to have meaningful discussion and provide positive feedback like Revenant subforum…Rev has bugs and in many places is undertuned too, but i do not see harsh talk there. Instead there good discussion that will make class great…all i want is the same chancefor our amazing class!

It’s only the highest dps after 14 sec. That’s all. Playing condi is pure damage without the possibility to swap utilities without getting a huge hole in your dps rota. That’s what power / zerk engi doesn’t suffer from. You have more skills who deal much damage than condi. Condi requires like 1 skill per kit and will get outdamaged immediately if you have to take mines, elixier gun, elixier u, s, etc.
It’s great for those 14sec+ brain afk bossfights, but it’s not for higher fotm or the jungle (unless husks ofc). Sinister gear should always be your second gear, not your main gear.
I use sinister exactly for 50 fotm because fights last long and with a decent group you dont need to swap utils.

It’s unreasonable for them to put black lion skins in regular gameplay yes. So boring grinding content that allows faster access to those skins (better gold/hour ratio) will always be the go to method for them. So let’s add some rewards that can’t be acquired by those activities, they have enough rewards already.
Why would it be unreasonable. The fact that getting such items has always been such a boring grinding content is the main issue with the game and so they should do something about it for HoT. Such items should have been put in the game (behind content) from the start.

I understand the easy/hard mode and i agree with it but in no way i agree with having same reward/reward progression. Reward might be the same but i work hard doing difficult things i AT LEAST expext of advancing to my rewards faster. It’s common sense, otherwise what’s the point? The fun of difficult content is only half of the cake!

This trait works differently then Phalanx Strength as that is personal applied might, this is any boon you apply triggers it. There needs to be an ICD since you can have many facets on at once pulsing out many boons, plus boons from traits. that would mean it would trigger multiple times per facet and with multiple facets active it would mean potentially like 20-25 might stacks AOE every 3s. If anything, we could tweak duration or stacks if it doesn’t feel good enough when you all get a chance to play it.
Yeah i understand is tricky..but wiuld be nice to be able to sorta replace warriors in this aspect…only way to break the meta is that at least 2 classes can cover the same role, even with different takes.

I love the Herald so far. The only thing I’m worried about is how the upkeep skills may make it heavily reliant on auto-attacks.
Without some source of energy regen it will be reliant on auto-attack because it was said on the blog or massivelyop that the upkeep is at the cost of energy regen… I’m expecting a trait in the Glint line to affect energy regen, i.e. gain additional energy under certain conditions or something to that effect.. There’s literally no way around being 100% reliant on auto-attack if upkeep is 100% of the energy regen.
Not all Facets have to be > -5 Regen. If some of them are -4 for example, you still have 1 Pip of Energy regen and can use everything else, you are just regenerating your Energy slower.
I’d like to see at least a -3 or some -3 and some -2 so you can make some combinations and not drawing energy :-)

Still, in that 100% you are counting 90% of utterly useless and non-sense builds (someone recall GW1 second class system? Same issue there)Current system is FAR better…higher numbers mean squat if you can’t build, play and balance with ease.

I specifically didn’t include the 200mil less viable builds. The 100 mil are each quite viable with max number of major traits and max number of synenergy between traits (due to being from the same line). Sure, there are some more viable builds and less viable builds, but in the new system, we don’t 200k equally viable builds either.
Imho they didnt cut freedom, we’ll never get all out of the current possible combination either, but at least now is easier, even stronger in some cases and more synergic with the rework. My 2 cents at least.

That’s something I would like a dev to answer to. It could be interesting (their response).
Right now Rev is profession most punished by conditions (perhaps excluding mallyx)
With mallyx, condi necro and mesmer were the only classed i consistently steamrolled…all other cases were pretty hard to manage…worst enemy was CC warrior….dude…they were a nightmare!

Yeah..i want add another thing: i’m fine with the energy management but since you cannot spam things like a thief (a good direct comparison) every skill MUST mean more…initiative on thieves is less used, regen faster in combat and many skills are better….

The build ive found working too…against competent player tho, you cant do squat…and i’ve made some serious testing this weekend…also sunday/monday I was the ONLY revenant in pvp…no exageration…never came across another one in my last 30 matches…

Dont want to start a new threat since i think it is better to have feedback in only one.
This may be longAfter 15 hours of Rev testing in PvE, sPvP and WvW here are my thoughts.
- The class is overall slow for melee, no real option for swiftness or passive 25% movement which is really needed. Blast finishers to get swift in dwarf or burning Shiro 3 to move faster is not good enough.
-No CC. The luck of CC and CC resistance is really big. Needs options for cripple AND Imobilize. Needs more reliable option for stability not only from dodge rolling.
-Synergy between weapons/traits/specializations is really not there, besides sword nothing else exists. Need more Weapon traits (e.g. reduced cd+something special for each weapon).
Example of synergy from warrior sword: leap+cripple+immobilize+double leap finisher, aka synergy from passive/active traits and specialization.
-Energy. ALL energy cost from weapon skills AND Heal skills should be removed, having cd is more then enough. Also i really feel the class should start with 100% power and start burning it and afterwards worry about management, either that or reduce the cost of everything (elite skills cost 50!?).
As it is now you use 1-2 weapon skills and 1 utility and you are pretty much burned, this is not working well.
-Furry access from utilities and/or weapon attacks, not stance swap. It is really simple, stance swap should be optional for stun break or to use a different skill depending on situation NOT mandatory to dps (see synergy?)
-2 stances i feel are not enough, having 3 would be ideal imo. Ele has 4 attunements and Engi can have up to 4 kits to use skills.
-overall dmg is really low for power builds and condition builds are mixed and weird.
Sword 1 needs dmg increase, sword 2 needs to be 5 targets remove chill and make it cripple, sword 3 needs imobilize and to hit only 1 target, on top it needs evade AND be able to cancel it with dodge, dmg deffinatelly needs to be more.
Sword off 4 needs 1 more sec block, sword 6 imo should be changed to a pull not the complicated skill it is atm.
Mace 1 needs to be range attack, 300 or 600 or 900. As it is everything in condition set can be used in range EXCEPT your main attacks…? Mace 2 looks fine, Mace 3 does really good dmg and its better in a power build then condi.
Axe 4 does really good dmg for power build but you need it for cond?Axe 5 needs bigger area to pull its too short and really easy to avoid it.
While im at the weapon comments, why we cant have mace/mace or axe/axe?
Specializations
Shiro
Heal needs to be changed bad. Make it closer/similar to Necro signet, passive life steal with attacks and when used a small heal or something.
teleport (2nd utility) needs a 1sec stun add to it, you port to target and pretty much walks away before u attack.
3rd utility is draining you really bad (see energy issues)
Elite…cant even use it with the energy costs atm.Demon
Heal is really low, imo needs more base heal.
1st utility, you draw conditions, get resistance and then…?die!? needs a second use to send those conditions to enemy.
2nd utility is ok-ish
3rd utility you teleport and add 1 torment or more depending on your conditions with a huge energy cost, maybe make this one send conditions after you use 1?
Elite is ok-ish but needs more conditions to be transfered or interval changed, its not bad, its not great either.Dwarf
Heal is okish could need a bit more base
1st utility, the only decent one the class has imo
2nd utility is really really really bad, its a waste of energy to use it. Make it AoE and add a decent CC on it and maybe it will work.
3rd utility Hammer dmg is low , maybe add a third hammer? increase the dmg?
Elite needs stability while casting it.Overall the class is not bad, but it is still far apart from competive or even close to the ones we have atm. Does not bring something new to the table and everything it does all other classes do it better. :/
Yeah pretty much my feeling…in PvE is really good but in PvP .. is so slow and defensless…i can survive a LIT more with my engi..which currently is not even the best at it.
Rev has no invuln, no blinds, no high endurance regen to dodge more than 2 times, and just 1 block that wont save you if focussed. If damage/speed stay the same it must be sturdier, i mean…even necro resist better.
He HAS engage / disengage potential with shiro but energy cost cripples it: the evade stuns break but do not opens gap .. i could do it, double dodge, do it again and the enemy was still on me. When you enter a fight you hardly can walk away, from any class… that’s my only issue: survivability.

Indeed HP could use a BIT better scaling but not that much. Otherwise some classes, like guardians,would become nearly invincible.
With a better scaling I would also completely remove regen: is a boring boon that with no gameplay attached, and we all know we want more skillful gameplay ;-)
Life steal is a mechanic that should used more often and in ths case might bring new utility to necros
