How do you define “dominant”? Being able to kill other players 1v1?

Honestly this whole nerfing AoE thing is not too weird in itself. AoE damage should very rarely be stronger than single-target. It’s the fact that AoE is already nerfed by the 5-target cap that causes the nerf to make no sense.

A reduction in AoE damage and an increase in the amount of targets you can hit would go a long way to improve WvWvW.

You get Piles of Putrid Essence etc from Arah, not any Lodestones afaik.

Ah, I remember the first time I did AC explore, my team is full of lvl 50-60’s and none of us has done it before. We wiped almost 10 times by kholer and decided to give up. Now with my guildies we just stand beside a pillar or wall, once we see the wind up animation we just move behind the pillar/wall and continue whatever we were doing after the spin. Always have at least a panic button if you do somehow get pulled, mist form, renewed focus etc allow you to get sloppy every once in a while

I remember back in BWEs, people viewed AC as the bane of all dungeons believing dungeons to be one of those rare fruits of excruciating labor. Look at it now, can’t imagine we used to think it’s a tough dungeon.

Kohler is one of the hardest bosses until you learn to dodge his grapplehook, once you learn to dodge that he becomes the easiest boss in the game.

It’s easy to dodge at that, when you see him powering up like a cartoon character, you dodge or move behind a pillar.

Yes you can dodge his pull, but nobody can stand there and take hits for more than a few seconds. You end up having to kite him.

Can’t we have some boss fights where we can actually CC the boss and use strategy to win? I’m so sick of kiting every single boss. It’s so boring, not fun.

If you kite every boss in the game then you are using awful tactics, sorry. Of course it’s gonna be boring when you don’t even use your brain to come up with valid strategies for different bosses.

For CoF1 maybe. There is a lot more out there than CoF1.

In fact there are 24 dungeon paths out there that are distinctly NOT CoF1.

Probably. I don’t know a single person on DR who is actually upset with the implosion, people are just frustrated because we are gonna be stuck in a boring tier for some time.

Playing in T5 has really showed me how terribly boring zerg-infested WvW can be. I am really looking forward to falling down a notch so we can once again have some fun gameplay where skill matters.

Had some fun on Kaineng BL tonight. Intense fighting for Redbriar and Redvale. Well, until WM and their entourage showed up. A really nice 15v15 was suddenly turned into a 65v15 and WM resorted to some classy spawn camping (all the while not repairing Redbriar that we had trebbed to 5%, resulting in us taking it once WM got bored of camping our spawn).

It’s pretty much over already. DR lost too many guilds (even some to Kaineng), and Kaineng grossly outnumbers both DR and EB.

OK in response to this thread regarding what Dred or Nytemyst posted. PRO is NOT and I REPEAT NOT transferring servers, OUR GUILD IS STAYING ON Devonas. This post by Dred last night was a practical joke or early April fools prank that he felt was going to be amusing. For anyone who has witnessed Dreds forum posting habits you know he is full of hot air most of the time and that he shouldn’t be taken too seriously with many things.
PRO is on DR to stay, and if it wasn’t I would not have spent so much time trying to build an alliance with other DR guilds, don’t take the words of one player to stand for the consensus of our entire guild.

Can you explain why there are Protocol [PRO] as well as [GASM] folks on Dragonbrand now? When I whispered one of them, I believe the name was Scottsomething, he stated that PRO was moving to DB. I thought you all were all high and mighty about staying on DR. Especially since you all flamed the heck out of Drednyte.

I’ll admit, Drednyte is vocal about a lot in forums and mapchat, even if we dont want to hear it, but the man is at least open and honest about what he wants to say. You all seem to be saying one thing, then slinking off behind everyone’s back and doing another.

I had some respect for PRO and what it did for DR, but I now I think this “new” PRO after Drednyte left pretty much dropped into the gutters.

Drednyte, if you read this, we dont see eye to eye and I hate your forum trolls! But I’ll give you the respect on being honest and upfront. And you put up a heck of a fight on the field. Shame you left PRO, and i heard how they waited until you went offline to demote you like the backstabbers this “new” PRO obvious are. Paid transfers are about to happen. This means mass xfers of Oceanic guilds, or any guild really, is about to cease. What a server needs to be competitive is a decent Oceanic presence. That Oceanic presence is one piece, probably the largest piece, missing from DR right now.

With that in mind, if you were leading a guild devoted to competitive WvW, would you honestly try to persuade your guild to stay on a server that will never be competitive due to its lack of Oceanic players? If you can honestly answer “YES” then you simply have a difference of opinion with PRO, that is all.

Losing respect for a guild over a difference of opinion says more about your character than anything else.

Paid transfers change everything, failing to recognize that can literally kill a guild that wants to be on a competitive server. You can see how paid transfers will make it extremely difficult to build DR into a stronger server now can’t you?

How exactly do you define competitive then? It’s better and a lot more fun to be stuck in a kitten good T5< match up than being stuck in a one-sided T1 / T2 match up, that’s for sure.

Back when I played GW1 full FoW armor cost 800k, maybe prices inflated later on to get the figure you have. But anyway, you could make a monk or necro, get them to max lvl and max gear in around 10 hrs and go 55 farm several different locations that would earn you tons of gold. I was able to get full FoW armor, but I’m not trying for a legendary because the requirements are simply rediculous.

Must have been before UWSC was nerfed. Yeah, ecto prices were cut in half.

The problem is that the amount of money you could earn in GW1 was proportional to your skill.

In GW2 you can perform the most mind-numbingly easy and boring tasks and still earn as much money as a highly coordinated team that can blaze through any dungeon extremely quickly.

AoE trivialized so much in this game, and created so much unnecessary FotM. Dungeon-wise it’s a good change.

What’s this obsession with duels and 5v5’s all about? You proclaimed to be the best WvW roaming guild, not the best sPvP guild.

Whether or not you can beat AD 5v5 says very little about your roaming capabilities.

I for one would be happy to drop down to T6. Then we would probably get the chance to fight [PAXA] again(?), and footage get so much better when it involves actual fighting.

With [OG] it mostly consists of them running away or hiding in invulnerability spots.

Bring a Mesmer, set up a portal, jump halfway, use Blink to get to the other side, set up the other end of the portal. Done in less than a minute.

Better to run through, set portal, waypoint back and then set the other end of the portal.

Can be done with a Portal Gun too.

and yes you are correct, there is alot of exploits and personally i think anet should state “anyone exploiting will get banned” and then follow through
(and anyone making an earning selling exploit services should just be streight up banned at the spot without warning since there is no excuse for doing this and no way around saying “i didnt know it wasnt suppose to be like that”.)

for the OP.
arah is very tricky and need at least 2 that knows how to do it (if you plan to do it without skipping, exploiting) and a good deal of patience if the rest is new to it.
especially lupi is something you just have to do again and again and eventually you get the pattern and will rarely get hit (it happens though that you get hit even though nothing was close to hitting you and it happends its a double hit for crazy dmg(over 18k), 1shot for me in every case-.-))

i find arah very annoying and now that i got my full set i will properly not set my foot in there again for a VERY long time, if i will ever set it there again before it have been changed so its much more fun instead of the almost pure silver mob as trash.

Proper design of dungeons is the only thing Arena Net can do to save their dungeons from being exploited. Seriously, there are so many ways to exploit Arah that you can essentially get to every boss on every path without even picking a path in the first place. Exactly everything can be skipped.

i could and still can solo this fight, it is entirely possible , and there is one small spot to afk the boss without suffering damage from the blossoms it took me a while to find but it is there. but dont bother trying it without being a warrior with extended longbow trait or a ranger it simply wont happen.

Did I miss the OP’s point or are you just talking about soloing the boss for no reason?

On topic;

1) There are many safe spots for ranged players. Keep in mind that you don’t need to attack the boss for it to attack you. The 4 players in melee can easily do that. Remember too, that a mesmer using clones or a thief popping thieves guild can easily spoil the fun for your team.

2) The lesser vines are not a problem for the same reason that the greater one is: They will always attack the ranged player in the safe spot.

3) I would say no. The only run I actually bothered to time this dungeon was with a mesmer / thief / warrior / guardian / guardian setup, which can’t be considered extremely high DPS. For my group the encounter took roughly 1min 50 seconds from the time we entered the room to the Greater Vine being dead. For any decent composition this fight should not take longer than 3 minutes.

4) There are a couple of safe spots next the Greater Vine where blossoms will not hit you, and his knock back is easily prevented through the use of blind / aegis / stability. You really should not have trouble with blossoms on this fight.

Point 6 would be my favorite one to be answered before we have to pay for server transfers. A lot of my friends play on EU server and our guild is on NA.

It would be really nice to have NA/EU servers together for guesting/dungeons…just not for WvW. And yeah, I have lots of friends on Eu servers too

EU / US guesting is direly needed. Many of your players come from GW1 where you were not restricted to your own region, leading to many friendships being built across these borders.

These friendships are withering by the day now.

Err what? Whats the candelabra exploit? A good team speed run for COF path 1 is under 9 minutes without special gear etc. You get 2 bosses gold on their bodies and 3 chests. Thats why people are willing to ignore DR for COF. Unless u count mesmer portals as exploits, its 100% legit.

Arah P3 can be done in 5 minutes, not 10 as someone said.
Also, you have to take into account the fact that it’s completely brainless, whereas you have to pay attention in CoF P1.
