DR was added to prevent exploits in dungeons, something it has proven to prevent multiple times.
The collateral damage it does to regular farmers is bad but the DR system is set in stone and it won’t be changed unless something major happens in dungeon design.

There are much much worse exploits still left in the dungeon. There are about 10-15 entry points to getting outside of, and around the map allowing you to not kill any trash mobs but just walk around and kill the bosses in turn. This is true for every path.

You should really get them out of dungeons, they’re doing a lot of harm to the game.
Um, no.
You can avoid every non-combat event in the game with a spy kit. Do you think it is skillful and adds to the game by being allowed to get past content that your group might not be capable of doing?
Example 1: Snowblind fractal. The Svanir waves at the first big bonfire are actually quite dangerous when you get to high difficulties, but it doesn’t matter, because you can just spy kit and do it without killing anything.
Example 2: Dredge. The button cage event is also pretty difficult when you get higher up, but same thing, spy kit and don’t kill a thing.
Example 3: Stealth ressing. You are almost never threatened by a party wipe when you can just stealth res anyone that dies.
And who knows what else it will trivialize in the future.
Example 1; You can just corpse run, light the bonfire, die, repeat and accomplish the same thing can’t you?
Example 2; You can just die on the pressure plates and they will stay activated, can you not?
Example 3; The only thing this does is save time.
Spy Kits are great when you wish to save time. They do not let you do incredible amazing things that no one without spy kits would be able to do.

Our QA group was able to do this, but I have received many reports about her healing while stealthed being way too high. I’ll ask our QA to give it another pass with different characters/builds to see how they fare.
I implore you, do not nerf her. She is completely aligned with how difficult explorable mode is supposed to be. She only takes 5-10min to kill with an organized group, which is what you should aim for when we are talking about encounters with complex mechanics. She is one of the best boss fights in the game and many people want to see her difficulty and complexity in other parts of the game as well. Nerfing her would not be a good decision, as the Dungeon Master achievement would lose perhaps its biggest individual challenge, reducing the prestige of it further.
People who can’t handle her are very much welcome to farm the other paths for the tokens. As far as achievements go, they should be reserved for those who actually have the patience and dedication to actually achieve said things.

Path 3 torch event is pretty rough, even for our QA and people know how to do it. I have plans to soften it’s edges a bit (read: nerf), because I honestly can’t get a group to run the darn thing. It can often take long enough to do the first event that you could have done a whole other path if you are in a PuG.
My current plan is to drop it down to 3 torches, so two players who choose tanky/support roles won’t be so punished by the content, and then adjusting the way the spawns behave to provide more of a challenge. (Plans subject to change based on testing feedback)
So it is definite then, that explorable mode is supposed to be able to be handled with pugs. Why not go back to what you said before release and make the other two paths on par with path 3 in terms of difficulty?

Well the large differences in difficulty of the dungeons cause a lot of the harm I think. Having several different dungeon design teams work individually was a poor choice. Sharing ideas and having a consistent difficulty could have been achieved if they didn’t choose this route.
Furthermore they need a lot more QA testing on their dungeons to prevent exploits. In Arah for example, there are a million ways of getting out of, and around the map. I think they need to utilize their community a bit more on this part too. Listen to what they say and have some dungeons be beta tested by actual players. I mean, on my first playthrough of the Grawl fractal I found a way of skipping the jumping puzzle within 2 min of entering the dungeon. Such obvious flaws should not make it into released dungeons.

All other factors such as lag ,after cast and team composition are atribuited to both classes so you don’t have to necesarely take them into consideration.
I’ve been going through all the dungeons glass cannon whit both Warrior and Thief , and I never had any issue surviving.That leaves you down to Damage.Thief damage is far superior to Warriors . It might not be double in practice like in theory whit the screen shot but its still bigger.Thief skills have no cast time and they are almost instant.Anyone who plays Thief and Warrior will tell you that Thief dps is bigger.Don’t get fooled by the bigger numbers.
The total lag and after cast of 1 skill is not equal to that of 5 skills, no.

But you yourself said that big numbers, which is the only thing you are presenting, does not mean high DPS, right? Furthermore your maths are off because you are not taking into account a lot of factors. For example you are trying to argue that using 5 skills would take the same amount of time to use as 1x 100b just because the total cast time is equal. This is not true because of factors such as lag and after casting. You are not taking into account the amount of time you are able to spam your abilities due to your severely lowered health pool, you are not taking into account the conditions and team buffs of a warrior.
Only through uploading a video of yourself pushing out your max DPS can we compare it to that of a warrior.

Afaik it was patched now.
It was reported a total of 2 times in bug reports section of the forum, 2 times through emails, and 2 times through in-game bug reports within a week of finding it (2 months ago).
Arena Net didn’t give a crap about it back then so we just gave up in trying to report it.

Never met a thf that brings more to the grp for dps then warrior. Fury, might, and banner from warrior + heavy armor and naturally high health is way better for speed running most things. And no way shortbow is high dps.

They can’t give good rewards for challenging content because there is no challenging content in the game.
If only they would introduce a hard mode, where if you wipe you are done. No way- or checkpoints, no bullkitten. Put small rewards from killing trash but focus heavily on the end chest. Oh wait that sounds like UW from GW1. Too bad they couldn’t realize that what they had in GW1 in terms of dungeons worked perfectly.

It’s possible. We’re watching metrics on it. I made the judgement call to only turn off the loot for 1 boss. If it is still being abused, I can make more judgement calls.

They already announced a scavenger hunt method, not sure what it will be, but they said they would provide an alternative to just farming for them.
Expect to have to go to many places around Tyria and start collecting things from Champion mobs.
This, THIS will be nice, and exciting, if they implement this, i will be excited.
I wouldn’t get too excited. They are obviously going to add artificial barriers to prolong this scavenger hunt to perhaps a 2-3 month venture (if you work on it every day).
Farming Netherwing reputation in WoW would be a close example.

I’m not sure it’s because they fail to provide it (they certainly didn’t in GW1, but then again I think developers changed a lot since), or if it’s because they choose not to bother with an end-game since they don’t make any money from it.
Either way, nope, there is not a whole lot to do at 80. Just play the game for weekend content patches, they are usually quite well made content-wise, they just need to get their kitten together in terms of servers and bugs.

If that was true they would have added an LFD tool so that we could go out into the world and actually play the game while looking for dungeon groups instead of standing around in LA/other towns for an hour beforehand screaming “LFG LFG LFG” or “LFM LFM LFM”
You can’t pug explorable dungeons in this game. All explorable dungeons must be done with experienced, dedicated and coordinated groups of people, and all of them take a substantial amount of time as well. This means there is no need for a LFG system in the first place.

Explorable mode dungeons are extremely hard, and take considerable amounts of time and player skill to finish. You can’t really pug them, hence why a LFG tool is redudant and won’t be implemented.

it’s absolutely ridiculous that progression is based on rng. on top of this the rng could give you an item you dont even want stat wise and then the item is account bound on top of it. the only alternative is to grind out 250 T6 materials to craft a piece yourself.

Loot based on RNG is dumb indeed, but is your progression really halted because you lack agony resist?

You can submit that, I don’t know detail about the mechanics. But I do know one thing. Many of you have misled players about the effect of Agony on the game. Now we find progression existed in GW1, at whatever the level, and yet this somehow does not apply. Even when a dev states Lightbringer was just another method players had to filter out those they want to play with. This is exactly the same thing, and you all know it is.
Hey, I could care less if none of you agree or see the point. But now I know from my own research that your complaints are baseless, and this game with thrive. I hope others aren’t affected by the negativity we’ve seen the last several days. That’s my point.
Lightbringer title is comparable to running FotM up to level 10 (when agony hits) and getting a ring that has the same stats as exotic rings with an infusion slot that makes FotM easier, but not by such a big margin that it is required.
In reality, you are not even guaranteed to get the ring, you are gonna have an extremely hard time progressing past level 20 if you don’t, and it has better stats than any other ring in the game.

The back braces you buy with tokens are called “Prototype Fractal Capacitator.”
Atm the Capacitor the vendor sells for 1350 tokens are just exotic without a infusion slot.
And fractals are rewarding but they don’t generate anywhere near the amt of gold that i need to buy 250 T6 mats.
Im not asking for handout, for exp dungeons , you buy everything with tokens except trinkets. And just doing dungeons was enough. Now you have to supplement it with farming mobs in L80 zones for these mats.
All im asking is make ascended items drop from higher lvl fractals or have them available for 2000 tokens or something.

I assume the ring is an rng drop. The only thing guaranteed out of the chest is supposed to be the fractal relics. Everything other then that is a random roll that gives increasing chance for better items as you get to higher levels.
You can also repeat levels as often as you like. So you can go back and do level 10 over and over until the ring drops for you. This kind of loot system is pretty common in MMO’s.
Then why has a dev stated that it’s a bug that will be patched?

It’s not a bug. The daily dungeon reward has a chance at giving you a ring. At difficulty 20+, you can get a ring with an infusion slot. There are probably even more reliable ways to get them at higher difficulties, but I don’t know because I’m only just past 20.

Again, I will bring up the SC argument. In GW1, why did people dump fortunes in trying to go from a 15 minute UW to a 14 minute? A 18min DoA to a 17min? Because they had fun doing so!

I never played Guild Wars 1 (yet) so I don’t know the things you are referring to. Sure if you want to be the fastest at a dungeon and find that fun I can semi understand the challenge in that but I don’t know I just like spending time with friends, relaxing our way through a dungeon, messing about, having a laugh. I guess what I’m saying is that in any group I’ve been in that wanted to speed through dungeons there was practically zero communication and to me it was boring.
Plus I feel if you want to do a dungeon fastest you should aim at doing all the content within the dungeon you were intended to do in the fastest time. Skipping it IMO is cheating that race type of challenge.
Devs have stated that skipping Kohler is an intented strategy, and the fact that you like to relax and mess around in dungeons, doesn’t mean that I can’t like the opposite.

I agree with the OP in that it irritates me when people want to skip Kholer, not because he’s hard yes or no but because hes one of the more fun bosses in the game. We always crack jokes about him.
- He was hard when we first went in 2 months ago and wiped several times trying to figure out the tactics and then proceeded to cower behind pillars to avoid his ability till we started to figure out we could dodge it and use feedback. People now get the tactics handed to them by those who’ve done them before. This is the same with all fights, it’s easy when you know how (well for most encounters anyway).
That’s why I would recommend to anyone new to dungeons to run them with others who are new to fully appreciate the effort that went into devising tactics when people like me and my party first started out.
- It is pure laziness and in some cases lack of skill, I had a few people wanting to skip and when we refused they got pulled into Kholer several times. That said though it’s not necessarily the case that there is a lack of skill but rather a lack of care about the dungeon content and only care about the reward at the end.
- This is not entirely true, I got a jug of karma out of his chest a week ago + You have the convenient waypoint there that helps you get about the dungeon much more efficiently.
I wish people would stop skipping content, I can sympathise with a couple of groups of non-boss mobs, but bosses? really? Why on earth are you even doing dungeons if you don’t enjoy the content if you skip bosses. Especially an awesome boss fight like Kholer, he’s one of the better ones.

- Apart from the obvious increase in sales of transmutation stones, what else can we expect from the BLTC to incentivize more gem sales? Will infusion-related items be available from the BLTC? Will items related to Ascended Armor be available through BLTC?

- In Lindsey’s blog post she talks about the Mystic Forge being a big part of infusion. Will this just amount to a massive money dump like what the Mystic Forge is now? Will we have to spend gold and skill points to attain these recipes in the first place? Will BLTC items like the Mystic Forge stone be used in these “Fine” infusions, where people who are not keen on spending gems are left with worse alternatives?
- She also states that the Backpack will solely be available through the Mystic Forge. Will these backpacks be a ~100g gold sink like most other Mystic Forge items?
Personally, I feel that what little info we have been given seems to indicate steps toward a gem store that becomes less and less optional for players who want to maximize their performance. Even if these items can be acquired through the dungeon, insanely low drop rates coupled with a cheap alternative in the cash shop is a classic way to handle any criticism about P2W.

I think it’s a good thing because anyone who starts playing 3 months from now will have a ton of infused gear to allow him or her into all the groups that form for Fractals of the Mists.
Basically what Arena Net is doing is opening up all the content to every player, new or old!
