Thanks for the lists, Windu and Cure. There was a lot of information to take in, and it’s great you posted. I’m not proofreading it, mind you, I’m sure you got it right.
We’re going to try to put all the questions about pricing in this one thread.
Please read the FAQ about Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns to get answers to some of the questions, and we’ll have more information in the future.
In the meantime, this is the best thread for posts about pricing, cost, etc.

The price should show properly in the cart. We’re working on getting the page to show the “strikethrough” as well, so it’s all clear!

We want to hear your thoughts!
(Move to one thread as per request)
Loving the thoughts you guys are sharing — keep them coming!
Leah has some information on this which she’ll be posting as soon as she can.
Thanks for all the help in figuring out the time zone and 12-to-24 hour conversions.
We don’t want a single player missing the live stream!
I reported a charr armor bug yesterday through the in-game bug report. Is that enough, or does it need to be posted in that thread as well?
In-game reports are read and used to check against existing bug reports in the system, so that’s good. Thanks for asking!
Basaltface — You are absolutely not ranting, and I admire the details. Thank you.
Scoobaniec — I see the point you’re making.
Ben — Oh I forgot the footprints! That’s Charr, yes?
Wife and I probably missed out on tickets (would love to have gone) but we live in San Antonio and will be at the after party. If a tall bald guy offers to buy you a margarita then that’s likely me.
That is so sweet of you! Sadly, I am not going to San Antonio, so will be unable to accept your kind offer. May I take a raincheck? I really hope to attend in the future!
I’m sorry, but I have no choice but to use my time travel machine to Saturday. This wait is killing me!
If Sherman and Mr. Peabody had the WayBACK Machine, it would be fun to have a LittleBitForward machine, eh?
I think a lot of this advice is for people that haven’t got the physical passes yet and need to pick them up at registration. But pass or no pass, the line to enter that hall will be forming asap, so you’ll want to be there early enough to get some choice of seating.
Also the passes, as I understand it, are to the convention as a whole. I’d be surprised if one hall has room for everyone, so the sooner you’re in line to get into the panel the better.
(I’m so psyched for my guildie who snagged a VIFF invite! She’s been beyond giddy).
Oh wow, glad your guildie is going!
You make an excellent point: The earlier the better. I’d rather hang out in line and be assured of snagging a seat then hang out in line while someone else is sitting at the presentation. I’m advising people to think about picking up their passes the day before, if they’re able to do so, but by all means allowing lots of time to get the con pass, get to the theatre, and get seated.
I can 2nd that (SDCC regular right here =p). Saturday tends to be the busiest day out of the entire weekend so you are definitely going to want to be there early. Popular panels and events will generally have people lining up well in advance of the panel start time and I’d hedge my bets on lines starting to form for the GW2 panel as soon as the doors open what with the hype train and all.
When I received my plastic badges in the mail they said those were all I needed to get in. Am I going to need to exchange those for another type of pass? My impression was that the only thing I would need to pick up was a lanyard at the gate.
Bernie, you’ll be fine. Al are welcome at the presentation about Guild Wars 2 just with their PAX South pass. (Well, subject to theatre capacity, of course.) A fan just needs to get in line and they’re welcome to attend.
You are on our guest list for the presentation, so you’ll have special seating. Just follow the instructions I sent you and we’ll look for you in the VIFF group!
Reviewing thread and forwarding concerns.
Hey, we love Charr, don’t think anything different! (Just as we adore Asura. Preferably sauteed with a little white wine. Ok, ok, I kid!
)
Have you folks posted in this thread? https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Issues-with-character-art-weapons-or-armor-2/first
I’m not trying to brush off the concerns, but I believe that thread is tracked often and I’d like to make sure that the issues you’re experiencing are visible in a thread dedicated to general art issues of this sort. This forum, being GW2 discussion, isn’t really adapted to bug reports, but you’re welcome to continue the discussion if you desire.
I’ll see if there’s any update on the bug thread that we can provide.
Hi im new to gw2 and i was wondering if u can purchase gw2 gems with prepaid american express card?
I think that may be possible, but I have not done it personally. You can look at the site for purchases (click the Black Lion image in the upper left in the game) to review your payment options. (You should be able to do this without finalizing the sale, of course.)
If given sufficient information, the team will try to identify and take action on someone who takes advantage of another player. In most cases, they close the account of the scammer. However, since the person who scammed you of gold was using your friend’s account, I am not sure what the team would be able to do that would not negatively impact your friend.
You may continue to discuss this in your ticket, but there’s nothing to be accomplished with a forum thread because the situation is quite unusual and doesn’t really pertain to others. I can assure you, however, that there is no lack of willingness to take action on scammers when it’s possible to do so!
Gaile, just a quick clarification. When we report these “Account Will Be Shut Down Inform” in-game mails, do you want us to report them as:
- Scamming
- Botting
- Gold SellingWhich would garner action the quickest?
Excellent question, and thanks for asking!
Report for “Gold Selling” and they will be given close attention. Ultimately, these phony mails are sent by RMT companies who are trying to steal accounts in order to strip them of gold and goods to sell, so gold sellers they are!
Our QA Team is investigating this. Thank you for the details you’ve provided.
This is a bug. I know that’s no surprise to you, but I wanted to confirm.
This should be addressed soon. Thanks for your detailed report.
The pictured shirt looks as if it’s our staff member shirt. But I do think we’re looking into making shirts in the future! I’ll let folks know on the forums when they’re available.
Thanks for asking.
(You could make one for yourself because it would be for private, non-profit use. The same would not be true of a third-party manufacturer doing the same or of a site using a template that a player made up for him- or herself and the company then used to sell additional shirts. Those companies would be a breach of copyright law and we do pursue such matters to protect our copyrights and trademarks.)
I am going to state the obvious, but if it saves just one person from being very unhappy on Saturday, it is obviousness well stated.
Do not expect to enter the convention quickly. Large cons tend to have long lines at registration. If you arrive 15 minutes before the panel begins planning to just pick up your day pass and waltz on in to find a seat, you’ll end up missing out.
I don’t know how PAX runs these things, but if there is any feasible way to collect your day pass the night before so you can walk right in Saturday morning, you’ll want to do that. Otherwise try to be there as early as you can.

Soren — I fixed that for you.
…lines starting to form for the GW2 panel as soon as the doors open what with the hype train keen anticipation of the presentation and all.
:)
We are actually suggesting that our guests try to pick up their tickets on Friday, if at all possible. Obviously people driving from a distance won’t be able to do that, but if you’re local — and many of those on my list are — you could consider popping over to get the pass on Friday, during lunch, etc. The hours of will call are pretty broad, as Mark said, but you could look on the website to ensure they will be available to give you your Saturday pass at a time of your convenience.
Thanks for posting, Donari — you made really good points. There’s nothing more upsetting than to have tickets for an event and be standing in line when it happens!
We want all our Guild Wars 2 fans in the theatre in plenty of time for the presentation!
If you requested a PAX ticket or seating in our special fan section, please check your in-box here on the forums in the Private Message section.
While we really wish we could have invited everyone, there were a lot of interested parties, so we did the best we could and invited the maximum number possible. If you don’t have anything in your in-box and applied with a friend, be sure you check with that friend because I may have contacted him or her to give the happy news.
If you were not included this time, we’re really sorry! We will try to have other opportunities in the future, so keep your eyes on the forums for other cool offerings!
Hey Gaile, How can we get some ANET representation at PAX Australia in October! Would love to see the team down here!
I’m on board!!!
Now to convince my boss that I need to go.
Anyone who submitted a request to attend: We must have your full name and address before we can add you to the group from which tickets and seats will be drawn.
If you did not include your name address, please send me your full name and address via PM. Check your PMs and you may find one from me, in which case just respond to me. Otherwise, send me one on your own. We cannot process requests for tickets or access to the Fan Section without a name and address.
Thank you!

kaat — Thanks for the information!
And in respect to the “Sorry” message, we’re having a few forum issues that prompt that message. Sorry for the inconvenience.
On the first question, add this:
In attempting to merge several threads about bugs with this story section of Episode 5, the forum appears to have made “obscura” every one of the merged threads. So sorry for that!
Here’s the latest on this situation: The team is trying to replicate the bug and identify issues that might prevent someone from completing the storyline. If you could answer a few questions about the problem you are having it would help greatly:
With your answers to these questions, the team hopes to be able to test using different variables that will enable them to nail down what the core issue is, then take care of correcting that issue. Thanks for your help.

OK … someone had to do it …
You’re right — someone did, and I’m glad for it.
I’m not having any slow load times…for pages or posting. Haven’t edited anything since the forums came back, but editing is always very slow.
Glad the forums are back, though! Thanks. =)
Edit: Actually, just edited a post elsewhere, and it went through faster than usual. Lol.
You know, I just edited the above post and I think I found it was faster to post than edited posts have been in the past! But logging in? That took a looooooooong time. We’ll see what we can do to make everything spiffier.
We are very sorry for the issue. While team members were able to get the forums to function (which I really appreciate during the Seahawks game!) they are going to take a look at how to correct the continued problem with very slow load times.
I’ve posted an announcement so forum members know we’re aware, and of course to apologize for the inconvenience.
Edit: Testing editing.

I can now confirm that this mini is still within the drop table from the Halloween ToT bags. Opened 2-5K per day since the Halloween event and got my ghost hound drop at around 105K bags (also got a necklace drop along the way – also after the 100K mark). So – the drop remains available – just going to have to continue to be persistent with opening these bags . Good luck!
Well, after opening roughly 200K bags I finally got the mini today. Every day since Halloween patch was gone I’ve been opening 1K bags, sometimes more and sometimes less. I also got the black necklace maybe around 150K bags but not much more. So yes, it’s definitely in the drop tables, it’s just kitten rng.
Don’t give up, it’ll drop eventually!
Congratulations to you both! So glad you’ve gotten that adorable mini! Thanks for posting as it gives the rest of us hope.
Oh, and AP — that makes no sense, I agree. I’ll ask about that, it just seems so very odd! Unless that’s the Super Rare Extra Sparkly Legendary Unique Candy Corn Cob of Death to All Monsters™, it just seems strange.

Couple of things:
Tickets: A kind forum member pointed out that I might want to express that we’re not able to provide transportation, lodging, or meals. When I say there is no cost, I mean there is no cost associated with a ticket that we’re giving for someone to attend as our guest. Other costs are on the guest.
Other Events: I agree it would be great to extend this to other events, and I’m actually working on something in that regard, as are other team members. Hope to have more info on that in the future. (I am a huge, huge fan of gamecom and of any event that lets us interact with Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 players. Granted, I’m not nearly as interesting as Ree or Colin or Mike or the devs, but hey, what I lack in that quality I can make up for in enthusiasm, right? Basically, I’d show up at the local Starbucks if it involved fans.
)
If you’re making a request for a ticket please read this:
Thanks!

I’m really sad that i can’t go to Pax south. (living in Europe ect.)
However, i WAS one of the first to play the demo of gw2 back 3 years a go at gamescom, so its fair that now America gets a chance to be first for something.
I’ll just be here in my room watching the live stream.
Sounds great, and thanks for your support.
Oh, btw, I love the gamecom show. It’s always fantastic!
Sweet thanks! If I’m randomly selected…
Who said it was random?
Gaile did. "We’ll be randomly choosing from who who PM me. "
Gad, don’t you hate it when you only see your typo when someone quotes it?
Rose, sorry you can’t attend, but thanks for your interest and good luck with your move.
I want a pass please! I only live 2 hours from San Antonio and I’m off work on Saturday and would totally make the drive to be there. Never been to anything like that before, comic con or any gaming convention and I think it’d be killer to attend. How do I PM Gale to have a chance to go?
Sounds great, and I’d love you to be able to come! We’ll be randomly choosing from who who PM me. To do that: Click my name, then choose “Send a private message” on the left (sort of middle of the screen) and tell me you’d like to attend. I’ll be collecting a name and address because we need to put in official info for the guest list (and then when the guests sign in at the will-call table the PAX folks will check ID to make sure the ticket’s going to the proper person).
Hope you can go!
Sweet thanks! If I’m randomly selected will I need to purchase any type of ticket to get into PAX to attend the guild wars presentation or would the guest pass get me into the event itself?
You will pay nothing except whatever it takes to get there. The full-day show pass — which includes the presentation by the Guild Wars 2 Team — has been purchased by ArenaNet. You will be fully our guest as far as the ticket to the show!

If it would apply, you might report them for offensive chat using the in-game report system. The team will look into what they’re doing and may be able to verify enough to take action. (It’s admittedly not always possible to do that, but they will try.)
Hello, Forum Members!
I’ve just been given some… dare I say “exciting” news?
We have a handful — just a few — Saturday passes for PAX South in San Antonio, Texas, on January 24th. The passes include preferred (I call it VIFF = Very Important Forum Fan) seating for the presentation being given by Mike O’Brien and Colin Johanson.
Doors open at 10:00 AM for the 10:30 AM presentation. You can get a few details here.
We’d like to invite a few of you to attend as our guest. If you’re interested in attending the presentation (and PAX South) on Saturday, January 24th, and are in or can be in the San Antonio, Texas area, please send me a PM by Monday, January 19. I should be able to get back to you on Tuesday to let you know if we’re able to add you to the (limited) guest list. (It goes without saying that we can only add people who will be able to attend, so please be sure of your availability.)
I won’t be at the event, but I know a lot of ArenaNet reps are looking forward to seeing you there. I hope from some of our fantastic forum members to get their names on the guest list!
Update: Please PLEASE look for the message at the bottom of any in-game mails. If it says “This message was sent by another player. It was not sent by the Guild Wars 2 Team” then you know it’s not from us.
If you are worried, submit a support ticket so CS can review it with you.

I think it might be confusing to call someone “Commander” when there is the Commander rank in the game. It seems that the team chose more generic terms to avoid confusion with actual game-achieved attainments.
You say that, yet everyone in the pact calls you commander.
This is true, everyone in the Pact calls you that because that’s what they know you as. DE2.0 aren’t in the pact though. They don’t have that background with you. They are civilians, they aren’t necessarily going to refer to you by your military rank. Its very similar in the real world typically speaking. I have 3 brothers in the military (not to mention a couple of cousins, several friends from high school, etc etc), I don’t refer to them as Drill Sargent, or Corporal, or Private or whatever their rank is because I’m a civilian.
This makes sense to me. There’s a distinction based on who is saying the name and their knowledge of and association with you, I agree.
Boss is bad.
I prefer Your Royal Highness.
That works for me. Oh, and I like “Light of all Beings” myself.
(I’m not ignoring the concerns in the thread, but AP’s comment did make me smile.)
(edited by Gaile Gray.6029)
The drops are random. The game is functioning just fine, as proved by those who have gotten a box, or more than one box.
If there were an issue with the game, the right place to post would be the Bugs Sub-Forum. But because nothing is broken, there’s no need to post there, and there’s certainly no need to continue to post the same complaint in multiple threads.
Closing thread.

It was a good ending.
The only down side is that ANet is still enamored with the darn twigs. twig twig twig twig It would be nice if the Charr or Norn or, heaven forbid, humans were the hub of the story instead of the boring twigs.
And see, I think the “twigs” are pretty fascinating, so….
In the end I say BRAVO, ArenaNet, for being willing to GO THERE. You had me screaming at the cliffhanger, well done.
High praise indeed.
Thanks for the thoughtful post.
I am sorry that you’re unhappy, Iason. Please feel free to copy and paste your initial comments into a new thread and it can stand alone. (You do not need to rewrite, simply copy.)
I do want to point out that this thread has a very active readership and more than 2,700 total reads, where the individual threads are much lower in reads. Feedback offered on the episode will be more likely seen in the main thread than in individual reaction posts. But certainly we respect that you wish to keep your points separate and you may do so if you’ll simply take a moment to repost, let me know you’ve done so, and we’ll delete the now-duplicated post in this thread.
