First bullfrogs, now toads?
What a ribbeting turn of events.
Oh goodness, I must comment on a clever pun. I’m sorry, but it’s required by my DNA! Well played, Pandaman.
It was a limited time ‘sneak peek’ at things to come.
‘Breaking news! We’re releasing future items early for one day only! Through Friday, check the Gem Store each day this week for an exciting limited-time item! And don’t forget, our Lunar New Year items will only be on sale for a little while longer!’
So the wings (and anything else that comes up this week) will be back again.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/limited-time-special-items-in-the-gem-store-this-week/
Thank you for pointing that out, Shinjo.
I agree with you, Screenager. Rezzed sounds as if it would be a good first game show for players who haven’t been to one, with plenty to do for show veterans. This will be the first time I’ve been to that particular show, but I hear good things about it. PAX East will be much larger and busier. Both, I’m sure, will be a blast!
I’ll be so happy to see you guys!
Wow, matteboy, I am so sorry I missed this when you posted. But I was looking for a thread, and came across it. What heartwarming comments. On behalf of the team, thank you kindly!
I think they’re lovely. Congrats to those who have them!
It’s threads like these that bring me to the forums. Yay, community.
I completely agree. It’s threads like this, and communities like ours, that have made me absolutely passionate about forums for oh, so many years.
Much <3 to everyone who has posted!
As everyone has said, yes, of course players can get warnings, suspensions, and even account terminations. Click the player, right click his portrait, click report, choose “verbal abuse” and the incident will be reviewed.
There are a lot of settings in your options menu that allow you to adjust ambient sounds versus music versus combat sounds, etc.
It “sounds” as if you might want to make an adjustment that makes it just right for you.
There are times when I sit, head in hands, wondering what fiendish mind thought of the access route for a particular vista. I look around the lunch room and think “Which of YOU did that to me!”
I seriously, passionately hope that we have vistas in Guild Wars: Heart of Thorns, because they are the best way to see the beauty of the world, and the talent of our artists and level designers.
I just sort of wish they have an “E Z Mode” for people like me.

Specialist Update
Update on the program:
- You folks make a good point, and sure, we’d consider additional specialists if there’s an area that could benefit from double coverage.
- We are still seeking to choose a specialist for each profession. So far we have great candidates for some professions, but not all. If you’re an expert on elementalists, a wiz at warriors, a guru at guardians, a… — well, you follow my drift
— please get in touch!
Are those three professions the only ones lacking? Or did those three just have convenient alliterations?
Sorry for any confusion: Those three just had fun alliterations. We’d welcome applications for any profession and will weigh them against those we’ve already received. Thanks for asking!
It’s not possible to give forum specialists a different color. That is a limitation of the software we’re currently using. Sorry.
Update: We got two very solid reports from RisingDusk, to whom we want to extend a huge note of thanks. Each report has been routed to the development team.
You can rest assured that RD understands your concerns and is expressing them very well, including tasty quotes from some of you. (I use that comment with a freely-confessed goal: to inspire more and better “tasty quotes!” )
Please keep your constructive comments and suggestions coming — they are very valuable to the process!
First, in these forums we would like the term “CDI” to be applied only to topics started and run by a developer. Discussing the topic is great! We just ask that it take place with a different name, to avoid confusion.
I think there may come a time when Chris or another dev revisits the topic of Dungeons and Fractals, whether that’s by starting a new CDI or reopening the old one. I cannot speak for the devs on this subject, but I feel I can say that right now they would not be able to engage on this subject, although I know it’s definitely on their radar.
My whole family is heading to EGX Rezzed on the Friday. Three of us are active gamers and all members of the same guild, Midnight Mayhem. The guild’s 3rd birthday is tomorrow. We have around 370 members currently. We are really looking forward to the event.
Wow, that’s a good-sized guild! Are a lot of Midnight Mayhem members going?
We’re looking forward to meeting you and your family there!
I’d like to, but it is in London and I despise London with every fibre of my being.
But I’ll think about it.
Oh dear. And here’s me, who loves London with every fibre of my being! Guess we can agree to disagree.
Do what’s right for you, naturally, and you can be there with us in spirit if not in person.
I think that we’ll hold off on the Revenant Sub-forum until the release of Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns. We don’t want to divide all the good discussions about the expansion pack at the present time, but we’ll be sure to give all the Revenant players a home in good time.
Yes, JT, our forum members do form an interesting group of people. But I know you are not surprised, and certainly I knew that all along. The nice thing is how many folks have joined in, and I feel sure that more will do so in the future. It’s sort of an “everyone into the
pool thread” situation, eh?
And seriously, BooDuh, is anyone ever too old to put a hat on a cat? (Not that mine would tolerate it for more than .4 nanoseconds, but just sayin’. )
Treat or Treat bags
Bahahaha! I’m not sure if that’s a typo, but it’s still pretty accurate. ;P
On topic: I’m personally not a fan of invisible bags since I’m almost OCD about what I’m selling to a vendor, but for most people, it can be incredibly useful.
~blush~ Typo. I love them so much, though, I do think every single one is a treat!
Reminder: These changes will be featured in our Ready Up program tomorrow, and there will be a blog post as well!
Yes, as explained, an Invisible Bag is really useful for tucking in those things you want to carry, as opposed to store, but want to ensure you don’t sell in error. I have regular bags for everything except the final slot, and there I put an Invisible Bag. It protects the four of five tasty bows I’m still deliberating about saving or selling, along with Black Lion Chests, Treat or Treat bags, keys, etc. In the latter cases, the stacks are something that may grow if I get another ToT bag or BLC, so it’s handy to have them all gathered in the protected Invisible Bag.
Edit: Yalora Istairiea — me too, me too!
Update on the program:
Well, with the variables of time zones, “today” may or may not apply. This is because, as was mentioned in a thread a few months ago, players in some zones note that our “today” — and it’s barely past mid-day for us here in the Pacific time zone — is actually “tomorrow” for some. Or, in the case of our Aussia and Kiwi players, it’s actually next week!
There is a build planned today (our time, anyway) and we’re hearing it should be live in the next few hours.
Thanks for your patience!
Hey, this is nice info! I’m glad you guys are going. And super excited that I get to go, too!
Rin — I need to ask about that. I honestly don’t remember.
Jam — don’t worry, you won’t be alone. I think a lot of GW2 players will be there!
godsie — in answer to your question, we will have demos every day of the event. So anyone who goes--whether for the full event or for a single day—should be able to demo Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns!
(edited by Gaile Gray.6029)
So still no repping at any shows down under? I can’t say I’m surprised.
I think you’re missing out on a good deal of your audience by not bringing any Anet representation to Australia/Oceania. I also think Anet underestimates its market here; I see more than just a few of us online daily. I’ve seen entire maps of Aussies/NZ’s.
We are not worthy? Nice message to send to your players.
If it’s up to me, we’re at PAX Down Under (or whatever it’s called). But… it’s not up to me. I will pass along the suggestion, though, you can count on it!
This sounds great. We’ll see you Saturday, then!
Argon and Auesis — I’m really looking forward to meeting you and your guildies!
Sounds like fun, Argon. Hope to see you there.
Me and 2 others have got tickets to go to Rezzed.
Just out of curiosity, will there be a bit where we can ask questions to the devs? if so, are we allowed to know which devs will be present? I would quite like to prepare a list of questions to grill them with.
You know, I’m not sure exactly which devs are going to be present although if that information is made available I can post here later. I do know that some members of the Dev Team will be involved with press interviews; others will be involved in demos. Some (like me) have other responsibilities.
I’d say that it would be fine to ask a question or two. But please keep in mind that the main intention of our being at the show is to share our expansion: Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns with existing and new players, and devs will be hosting multiple demo stations. So “grilling” devs with a flurry of questions isn’t really appropriate. (I know you’re kidding about the “grill” part, but just sayin’. )
TL;dr: Asking a question or two is fine. Trying to conduct a full-on interview isn’t really workable. Thanks for understanding!
I apologize for the delay. I’ve sent an e-mail to ask about this and if there’s information to share at this time, I’ll do so as soon as I hear back.
Wolfheart — Love the poem! (And I see we have much in common, with our love of Disney. <3 ! Those are my Top 3 from Disney, as well!)
Invidia — I’m a kitty person, too! I have two chocolate point Siamese now — they make my days complete. After going “catless” for a couple of years, I woke up one morning, shook my fist at the sky, and said “As Dwayna is my witness, I shall never go catless again!” (Excuse my lame movie reference. )
(edited by Gaile Gray.6029)
Good news, Dirame. It will be great to meet you!
Alaia — that’s terrific info! We’re really looking forward to meeting your reps at the event. I’m certainly familiar with all the awesome things you support and hey, that’s a great turnout!
This is great information! I hope to meet you all! ~happy dance~
Oh, and come prepared for GW2 Trivia — we have some nice prizes.
Thanks for understanding the merge. I’ll probably be adding more, as this is an often-asked question!
I’m happy to post what I know, but some is reiteration:
We’ve seen a lot of questions about whether Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns will offer a character slot.
I’m merging the various threads so that when this information is available, we’ll be able to update everyone with an interest in this topic in a single thread.
(edited by Moderator)
Hey, now. A lot of us are not on the “I hate Traeherne” team!
leman, I feel sure you’ll find that the concern you’ve expressed has been and will continue to be a focus of the entire dev team during the process of development, testing, polish, beta testing, balance, more polish, and so forth. The last thing an expansion pack would be intended to do is to put one profession at the top of the pyramid, where all others are “inferior” in some sense.
I have every confidence that all the other professions will do just fine playing in with, and against, a Revenant.
…has visions of Gaile turning up to Anet 14 years ago to do an article and refusing to leave ever since, eating all their waffles
Pffft. I was invited to come up to chat! Somehow that turned into a job interview (which I recognized only after the fact; Mike O’Brien is that smart) and they offered me a job.
There may or may not have been some waffles involved.
JT says it’s my turn. Ok, maybe…
I have a little information on this: Footprints are determined by the geometry of leg joints. That is, the direction of a footprint is determined by the joints of a particular creature’s legs and ankles. For all the races except Charr, those bones bend in the same direction of that of a human, they each have the same “ankle roll.” But if you look at images of the Charr, the ankle roll is different. And it’s the way the leg is configured that results in the footprints being backwards for the Charr. Or, as an artist said, “Once the Ankle goes over the ball of the foot, as it does with the Charr, the footprints get reversed because the (game) engine thinks the foot is pointing the opposite direction.”
Making an adjustment requires the involvement of the Gameplay Programming Team. From what I understand, making this change could require a significant amount of time but I’ll see what we can find out about this.
We have many plans for the forums, but at this point cannot give an ETA for the changes that we very much hope to implement.
I am confident that some sort of alert system you mention will be part of our improved software.
Isotope — I need to ask the same question I asked robertfordaol:
When did you last log in to Guild Wars (the original game) on that account or those accounts?
I want to try to figure out when your account was terminated, so please provide that info as accurately as you can.
And I’m very sorry for any errors that occurred. We’re continuing to discuss and investigate this and see what we can do to sort out the appeal tickets and resolve everyone’s issue if their account was, somehow, terminated in error.
I agree with you, SP. In fact, since this is a done deal and the matter is resolved, I’ll take that advice and smack a Kwik-E-Lock on this.
I am investigating this.
How long had it been since you accessed those accounts? I want to know when they may have been “banned” and the “last logged in XX days/months ago” will help me talk about this with Customer Support.
Thank you, and hang in there — we’ll do our very best to get this sorted out!
do we open paypal dispute or does the refund come back its self? dont wanna open paypal dispute if it will get my account in trouble or something that i use it with normally to but gems on
lil clarification on this please
Oh hey, we want to make this painless for you. No need to open a dispute or do anything at all. The refund will be made without any effort on your part. You should receive an e-mail about this, as well, just to keep you in the loop.
Here’s the update you’ve been waiting for.
As those of you in the thread are aware, for about an hour on Tuesday, February 17, our website displayed inaccurate pricing for our Digital Heroic Edition. Instead, the website displayed an incorrect item name (“Booster Bundle”) and an inaccurate price. We apologize for this issue, and will be refunding any charges related to the attempted purchase of that particular item. All refunds will be issued via the payment method used to check out, such as a credit card, debit card, prepaid card, or PayPal®.
Refunds normally appear on an account or card within a few days of processing. We ask that those involved please allow at least three business days for the credit to appear on the relevant account. After that point, we’ll be happy to answer any questions through Customer Support via our website.
We apologize for any inconvenience that this issue may have caused, and we are working to ensure that this does not happen in the future.
We should have information on this tomorrow. I am sorry that it’s taking a bit of time to get the word back to you, but we want to make sure we have the proper process in place to handle this appropriately.
Thanks for understanding.
We’re looking into this situation now and will have some info soon.
Our apologies for any confusion that this may have caused!
It sounds as if you have read the Content Terms of Use, but if you’ll take a look at that again and observe the parameters outlined within it, you should be fine.
I note you’re not suggesting a profit in any form, nor are you marketing this as official or approved. At its core it sounds as if this is a fan project that you’re sharing in case others desire to also make themselves a copy for personal, non-profit use.
I will ask our Brand Director to see if he has any other information to share but again, the CToU should be very helpful.
I don’t consider it a walk of shame. I mean, death happens. I have found, though, that if I’m trying to res someone and they suddenly disappear to use the WP, it can be a little disappointing. You know, we were nearly there and poof!
Too, if someone is trying to res me, I feel it can be unmannerly to just up and leave… even though occasionally I do so because I can see they’re risking too much to help out and I want to make sure they don’t incur death because of me. With no repair fees, it’s a little different now and the guilt isn’t quite as high. Still, seeing the ground littered with people who tried to help out is a wee bit embarrassing.
For me, “to WP or not to WP” it has next to nothing to do with the loot or the rewards or the daily points. It just has to do with how it feels at any given time, what’s right for my situation, what’s right for the group and the overall objective.
I just make it a point to declare that during Tequatl, Silverwastes, etc. People should not be ressing the fulling dead and that the dead should WP and get back.
And that makes infinite sense to me.
