You Mount Fanatics…… I’m getting a headache.
Would you care for a little bratwurst to ease the pain?
I thought it was a greatsword with a bratwurst on the end, but yeah, generally the same idea.
Oh my gosh, Undo, that’s brilliant!
Oh wait… ummm…
We all will pelt Roy with dampened saltines for giving away that valuable and oh-so-obvious information.
I am overwhelmed by the excellence of your suggestions.
Seriously, I will share this thread. It’s great to hear your ideas!
Lovely to hear from you, NoobStar. So happy to hear that you’re enjoying the game again. It’s ok to take a break; we’ll still be here for you to welcome you when you come back.
And thanks to you guys who posted the same thoughts. You all made me smile.
Orochimaru — I did not make the announcement until today, therefore zhonnika was not in a position to post and ask for feedback or input on an official basis. I will say that the report we received is very comprehensive and will be of value to the devs.
I’m sure as time progresses there will be interaction, input, and comments, but in this case, please consider me the “responsible party” (if you must ) for it was my tardiness in making the announcement that prevented any level of feedback for the first report.
Also please keep in mind that Forum Specialists are volunteers and they are given latitude in how they create the reports. For instance, one specialist might start a thread to gather input; one may share the preliminary draft; another might share the final; a fourth may send the report directly to ArenaNet and only refer indirectly to the contents of the report in threads in which he/she is active. All of these patterns are acceptable, for the decision on how to gather the feedback is up to the individual specialist and, we’ve found, can be equally viable through interaction or silent observations of key issues.
Thanks for understanding.
As posted in the WvW Forum, we’ve welcomed two new WvW Specialists:
Both have an extensive history in Guild Wars 2 and in WvW in particular, and we look forward to their contributions in the future.
I’d like to introduce our two new WvW Forum Specialists:
We had many exceptional forum members apply, but selected these two based on their high levels of involvement in the subject of WvW, their passion for the gameplay form, and their commitment to provide balanced feedback based on the overall input of WvW Forum members.
We’re looking forward to working with both Archonwing and zhonnika and thank them for their willingness to serve our excellent community of WubWub players!

Hey, this is great. Can you please keep the good ideas coming!? I’ll ask the team to give this a peek from time to time — we love to hear your thoughts.
Guys. I’ve been working on the forums before the forums went live. I know to copy and save a post. But sometimes, you get a little distracted, and sometimes you forget. Such was the case. I was posting away and “oooh shiney, a castle!” and forgot to save. No biggie, I survived, even if the post did not.
Oh Coulter — that’s so sweet that WP still has records of my nefarious activities so long ag… wait a minute! You’re telling me that WP has FILM of that? Like evidence? Is it too late to claim temporary insanity?
Froggie is well. He’s delighted to know that I’ve picked up several souvenirs of an amphibian nature.
Guys — so sorry for the long period of non-communication. No, I wasn’t abducted by aliens.
I have been traveling in Europe and return tomorrow. I miss all you guys immensely, but the Internetz on the cruise ship (it was a European river cruise) was sooooo terrible that every time I tried to post the entire thing disappeared. After throwing a dramatic hissy fit about the disappearance of another long (and of course worthwhile, well-written, and pithy!) post in the alleged-computer-lounge (where you might load one web page every 4 minutes, IF you were lucky) I decided to spare my fellow passengers further drama and determined that I should simply fire the forums back up (figurately, NOT literally ) when I’m back in the USA.
So…. back with you very soon, and thank you for your kind words! <3
A few threads are arisen over time regarding player privacy. We’ve merged them here so that we can keep any conversations and suggestions in a single thread.

Maya, I’m sure you’re aware, but that reason that Quebec is excluded from (most if not all) contests is because of provincial law that prohibits them. We’re sorry that we must exclude Quebec residents, and do so only because of the legal issues. We’ll happy include in the future if Quebec changes their laws. You might speak to your representative with that request.

Sure, here are the questions and the answers in bold:
Q: Who performed The Searing, and where did it take place?
Bonfaaz Burntfur; Ascalon
Korr, Living Flame; Bloodstone Fen
Singe the Malevolent; Fire Island Chain
Nazeem the kitten ed; Ascalon
Josh Foreman; the office microwaveFixed it for you
~snicker~ Josh may not be aware of that line, so mum’s the word, eh?
Actually I didn’t mean that sarcastically, well the “dot dot dot” part is but that’s more me stuck working in the system and not directed to anyone on the forums.
I have been poking about this fix for a month now or so internally now. Been asking to get someone in here to talk to everyone about this bug and what’s up with it but as of yet no dice. I am doing everything I can to get this resolved or some explanations for you guys.
But yeah, I have some extremely tied hands and poking with my poking stick is about all I can do because I don’t control development or production schedules or design decisions. I do take screenshots of comments and paste them into some internal emails though… And the # of live reports, and the forum links, etc. I can make a huge ruckus when it’s needed, but in general everything I do is behind the scenes and I don’t take credit or spill the beans on what occurred to get it to that point.
While I have all the answers, really I am the next thing to a walking encyclopedia of the GW2 bug DB at any time, I can’t really go around shouting what is happening one way or the other because it can change daily… and letting some things I know be known would probably result in my not working for ArenaNet anymore. That’s something that would be kinda poopy and I would like that not to happen, so I avoid it and instead just say slightly nebulous things like “soon” when I see a fix coming for the next release. One day that “soon” will have some real intent behind it. Today actually seems like a good day to “soon” some threads so…
Also yes, reading and responding on the forums is not actually part of my job. I got to a point where I just really didn’t like how you guys felt ignored in this forum and I’m trying to do something about it. I tend to only post positively and I won’t respond to all threads.
tl;dr I will keep fighting the good fight on your behalf.
I support this thread.
Lauren is going above and beyond about this and other bugs. I’ve told her personally, and I’ll say it here: I’m delighted that she is posting in our forums. Often she’s doing it because she spots a thread. And I’ll confess it, occassionaly she’d doing it because she sees my plaintive e-mails asking, “Bueller? Bueller????” and she strives to find that answer!
I hope that everyone will take on board that she will — we each will — share info when we have it and when it’s appropriate to share it.
Basically, I’m asking that despite your impatience or your irritation with a situation, despite the occasional desire to flare up, you please please do your best to stay on topic and remain respectful in your posts. Many /most of the people who contribute to this forum are not required to do so. And the forum is a much better place because they are involved! I believe we all are, or certainly should be, grateful to Lauren and the many others (like Evan, and Lawton, and Michael, and Justin, and Jeffry, and Jon, and Bobby, and Cody, and… and… ALL the peoples at ArenaNet!) who are active here. Please keep them in mind, as the nice, creative, and helpful people they are!

I can check on this, but the numbers of drops seems irrelevant. We hope for a certain number of players, so I would surmise that the drops would continue until we have reached the desired number of accounts, not the planned number of drops.
Again, I’m speaking casually, as a hypothesis, and I’ll confirm this.
I just believe that someone getting multiple portals is not impacting the chances of someone else participating in the beta.
Oh, and don’t forget: Increase your chances — sign up for the newsletter!
(edited by Gaile Gray.6029)
This merged thread contains a lot of feedback about the name Dragon Hunter. In addition, it merges a couple of polls or petitions. (Please note, the observation about forum petitions is correct: They are not something that we support or allow.)
Please keep your feedback about the name in this thread so that devs can read all your thoughts.
Thanks.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Please do continue to do so.
Randulf — this is the supplied information and I will add emphasis for the points that it makes:
Yes! We’ll be expanding the size of the pool of beta testers for future tests. We selected a small number of testers for the first round from our newsletter subscribers. Our next test will use this method as well as the “Portal to the Heart of Maguuma,” an in-game item which has a chance to drop from enemies in Dry Top and the Silverwastes. Players who find this item are guaranteed a spot in the next closed beta test! Signing up for the newsletter is not required to access the beta test if you’ve received one of these items. However, to get beta schedules, instructions on how to access the test, or any other beta-related information, you will still need to sign up for the newsletter. Make sure you sign up using the same e-mail address that you use for your game account.
I don’t see any cause for confusion or any need for change. Can you explain what’s unclear about any of that? It’s a little late to change a published article, but we’d like to know what points might be confusing for future reference.
(edited by Gaile Gray.6029)
Sorry, I can’t seem to quote you guys right now. But let me give you some info on the Portal drops and answer a few questions, too!
This is your final weekend to obtain an in-game drop of the Portal to Maguuma’s Heart
Valentino — exactly, and thanks! Here’s what you said
It’s simple:
Newsletter subscription= chance
Portal drop= guaranteed
Previous beta slots= wiped, you have to either be selected from the subscribers or drop a portal.
Bovan — I feel sure that all newsletter subscribers, whether they signed up 4 months ago or 4 hours ago, will have an equal change of being selected. This is because the selections will be made, randomly, from the newsletter subscription list at the time of the selecting. Hope that sets your mind at rest!
There are a lot of threads containing feedback on the Dragon Hunter. Thanks a lot for sharing your views.
We’re going to merge threads that contain feedback about this specialization into a single thread to enable the devs to most easily gather your feedback.
Threads on topics that are related but different, such as the name of the specialization, will be left separate from this merged feedback thread.
Thanks for understanding this housekeeping move, and keep your input coming!

Any dev have an update as to when we can obtain the tribal armor set?
Sorry, no update. It will come when it comes, but we’re not able to give a date at this point.
Are you saying that getting a portal drop only gets me a “Chance” at the next beta? Because if that’s the case I’m going to cry, seeing as I spent 30 hours trying to get that portal and finally got it.
Oh gosh, Lily — I’m so sorry if you were concerned about that! Let’s be clear — I think the verbiage was clear, but again: If you get a Portal to Maguuma’s Heart you are guaranteed access to the beta test!
Thank you for asking about this. There are two chances to get in the beta, but the portal is a sure thing!
Didn’t it end yesterday?
No it did not end yesterday. There were some rumours that the build ended it, but forum posts prove that the portals are still dropping, and that is as intended.
Why is it even possible to have more than 1 beta portal stone drop?
When I see people with two or more, i feel like crying.
Was it not possible to code it so it could only drop once per account?
Random is random. Some amount of duplication seems part of the randomness of the drops.
(edited by Gaile Gray.6029)
An improvement to this newsletter system is to send a confirmation email to the ppl who subscribed indicating that it worked. The lack of a confirmation email can create confusion. Ppl simply don’t know if newsletter registration worked or not.
I will pass that along.
What about only being a subscriber? Do we still got a small chance? I gave up on trying to drop a beta portal, I’m levelling an alt now, so I’m hoping I at least have a chance for having signed up for the newsletter.
Yes, you absolutely do have a chance through your newsletter subscription. Testers will come from the portal drops and from the newsletter subscription list.
Thanks for asking!
It’s premature for you to ask for compensation for a system that has not been fully outlined or fully explored by you, as a player. I suggest your consider how long and how much use you got out of your items to reassure yourself you got full value. Also consider how every person who was unhappy with a balance build could make the a similar demand, and realize how unhealthy and unrealistic such a set of demands would be.
Wait for more information, please, before leaping to conclusions or making requests of this nature.
The questions in this thread, or the opinions expressed, have been fully explored and the topic can be closed.
But please keep in mind: The giving of the chests was explained in a post on this very forum. It was not intended as a “reward” or a “thank you” but was the outcome of removing beta access. If you’re offended, we’re sorry.
We’ve been asked about whether you must be a newsletter subscriber to get access to the beta test. Signing up for the newsletter is not required to be given access to the beta test. However, to get beta schedules, instructions on how to access the test, or any other beta-related information, you will need to sign up for the newsletter.
Anyone who finds a Portal to Maguuma’s Heart will have access. A certain number of testers will be selected from the newsletter subscriber list. So as you can see, being a newsletter subscriber has a dual benefit: You increase your chances of getting into the beta test, and you receive direct communication about the test and its schedule.
We have a very large and well-attended (by a dev) thread about RNG. You’re encouraged to add your thoughts to that thread, for maximum value and to avoid repeated commentary in multiple threads.
Find that thread here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/RNG-as-a-concept-Discuss/4488821
Blimey how many rares are you all salvaging for that to be a problem?? One of you please tell the Loot Fairy I want to be her BFF too lol
I was thinking the same thing.
As I recall, the warning was implemented at player request. Players were accidentally salvaging items that they did not intend to salvage, just as back in the day (GW) you could sell valuable items with a single click. So the devs added a confirmation process to ensure that you do exactly what you intend to do.
I don’t recall seeing a warning for green items, but I don’t mind a bit getting the message in relation to golds. But then, I’m not massively wealthy, either.

I have confidence that the team will be looking at the benefits as well as the “cost” in time and resources in relation to this situation. Members of our own team are colorblind and are able to offer suggestions on this topic.
And thanks for the updated figure, Siphaed.
As forum members have pointed out, threads with truly constructive criticisms are welcome. The front page — any page — proves that. Threads with a lack of constructive input, with a large number of offensive comments, with attacks or name-calling, or with a lot of off-topic comments are closed to allow the forum to continue on a relatively even keel.
There’s plenty of frustration venting on a regular basis, no worries there. Closure does not equate to censorship, it equates to reasonable moderation.
Good luck to everyone who’s trying for a portal!
(And yes, it’s truly random, not determined by your astrological sign, the number of letters in your name, or the color of your socks. )
We have temporarily disabled the Molten Facility Fractal while we work on an issue. This fractal will be available again as soon as possible.
Oooh, that’s tempting, but I only have a few more hours. I’m going to keep that idea in my back pocket for the future, though. I’d love to collaborate with our Lore Forum members — they’re a fantastic group of people!
I’ll be doing fan events in the future; who better to ask for a few ideas, hmmm?
Not a bad idea, Randulf. But if I do, some ArenaNet staff members will see it and they’ll then know the answers!
Let me see if I can think of a work-around.
Today’s project: Come up with Guild Wars trivia for the ArenaNet staff. This is going to be extra challenging!
So I put the wrong email in the account part for the survey, is there a way to change that? :<
I don’t want to be kicked out of the contest just because I entered homail instead of aol on accident
Is there some one I can contact or am i just out of luck?
If you are one of the randomly-selected winners, I have a pretty good idea we’ll be able to reach you via the e-mail address you put. We may need information to verify that you have a Guild Wars or Guild Wars 2 account in good standing, but beyond that, I think we can synch that up and get you your prize. (The same applies to others who made have made the same error.)
I’ll be posting a list of winners (by display name) so that’s another way we can coordinate all the information to make sure the winners get their prizes.
Questions about regional/national eligibility have arisen in the past, so we have included an article in our Knowledge Base to address such questions: https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/28147436-Contests-and-Tournaments
It would be wonderful to be able to offer this contest is all areas of the world, but unfortunately, as explained, that simply is not something that we are able to do.
I can’t view the link. It says:
“Sie haben keinen Zugriff auf dieses Thema.
Sie haben keinen Zugriff auf diese Seite. Wenden Sie sich an den Kontoinhaber dieses Zendesks.”
You don’t have access to this topic.
You don’t have access to this page. Turn to the account-owner of this Zendesk.
In that case, let me simply quote the Knowledge Base here:
Contests and Tournaments
Am I eligible to participate in a Guild Wars 2 Contest or Tournament?
Each contest and tournament is bound by specific eligibility rules as outlined in the official announcement of the event on our website. Contest and tournament rules are reviewed by legal counsel in various regions in which we have access to such professional reviews. Residents of countries in which we do not have legal counsel are not eligible to participate. In addition, residents of a country, state, or province that has legal restrictions on such events likewise are ineligible to participate. If you are ineligible to participate in a contest or tournament, please check the rules for future events, as eligibility may change with an upcoming event.
Guild Wars was released on April 28, 2005. In celebration of this milestone, we’re offering a contest: 10 questions for the 10th Anniversary, with, you guessed it, 10 winners!
Prizes? Of course! We have some tasty Guild Wars swag we’ll be sending off to the winners, each of whom will be randomly selected from those who answer all 10 questions correctly.
Head over to our contest page here and take your best shot at the answers to questions based on Guild Wars history, from characters to geography, good guys to bad.
We’ll post the legal stuff (rules, eligibility info, etc.) in a forum post immediately below this invitation.
Now, don’t waste a minute! The contest ends at 11:59 PM Pacific Time on April 28, 2015!
Huh, so GW1 was released on my birthday….
Do i get something special then?
A hearty “happy birthday” greeting, mayhaps?
@ Gaile, problem solved: see above (might be usefull for other people).
Nice, thank you so much Phoebe!
And yes:
Account name = email address used to access the game
Display name = name you see in the forums, like Gaile Gray.6029
Be sure you enter these fields properly and you’ll be good to go!
I love how they had to lax the ‘requirements’ for WvW rep because everyone that cares about WvW has been infracted at one point or another
The parameters for involvement in the program have not changed at all; we’ve simply made them clearer by expressing them outright. We have never had a “You must have a 100% perfect record” policy because we understand that the occasional slip of the fingers or overly-heated comment does not mean that someone would be a bad specialist.
Throw in a free GW2 T-shirt and I may consider.
How many gems does one get for “volunteering”? And don’t say none because we all know the answer is never none.
These are volunteer positions and do not involve compensation, that t-shirts or gems.
I would like to add that the new forum specialist should not be a known whiteknight nor a known whiner because in either case no improvements will be made. In one hand, there is no problem or improvements to be made to wvw and on the other hand everything is bad and the game os running to its doom. Please pick someone in between. Thank you.
If you can find the person that no one calls a “white knight” or a “whiner” I’d be amazed. There are few people who aren’t branded as one, or the other, or both!
(edited by Gaile Gray.6029)
I have updated the Forum Specialist thread and posted in WvW that we are seeking two (2) forum specialists for World-versus-World coverage.
We’re continuing the Fansite Specialist Program, which has brought and will continue to bring in a wealth of helpful feedback for the developers to review and consider as they are working on the existing game and on the Heart of Thorns expansion.
Oh and I liked the question where one of the answers was a misspelling. I had a professor that did that once on a true or false question where he spelled the name of a historic figure wrong by one letter and asked if the person was responsible for their creation. I looked at it for like 5 minutes trying to figure out if the professor made a typo. He didn’t and if you answered true you got the question wrong. Pure evil. HAHA
Evil? No, no, I assure you that was not the intention.
I knew it! Josh really was behind the searing! =p
Well, I wouldn’t want to confirm or deny such a rumor…
