I’ve read through all your comments and I appreciate the insights. I do wonder if it’s possible to sort out straight “I am seeking a group” from “I am offering a group” from “I am offering a group and will sell a spot within it.” It’s all about group, you see? And group is the core of that stream and the core was the basis for my initial comments.
Clearly, “I’m selling this item” is way out of left field and should not be in the LFG stream. (And excuse that “Well you need that item to be in a group” isn’t going to wash. )
I will talk to CS about this again. I understand that LFG can be seen differently by different players, and I’d like to make sure that we’re clear on what the CS Team will act upon, when something is reported.
Words cannot express how much I love this. You are amazing. Everyone involved is amazing. Thank you for such a lovely Wintersday gift.
Hugs to everyone involved!!!
P.S. If I would give this a +100 I would do it!

Wow, Aikata — you deserve an award for your patience and spirit of giving. <3 !
Thank you for putting this together. The world of Tyria will be a better, more music-filled place for your efforts!
And yes, everyone, please pass the word along so we can get all the sheet music in one place!
How does a fictional character roleplay another fictional character?
The same way Mickey Mouse dresses up as Dracula.
What, you have a problem with that?
Charming Rogue — I’ll pass along the feedback. We’ve seen much-loved items make a comeback in the past, maybe that same decision will give your Elsa (who’s beautiful, btw) her Olaf in the future. All the best for Wintersday!
I like the bell. And she looks beautiful with it, too!
drachehexe — welcome to Guild Wars 2. I hope you’re able to use the advice the other players gave you here and come up with names that you love.
Note: I changed the name of this thread to something more indicative of its topic and less likely to be viewed exclusively as hyperbole. Please refrain from going OTT on the forums.
Thanks to those of you who gave helpful advice or info. Donari — your suggestions and details are great!
Sadly, I had to flag two posts for review. Insulting players isn’t acceptable. Insulting a new player seems even lower. The Guild Wars 2 community is better than that, it truly is. So if someone feels the urge to post a rude comment here or anywhere on the forums: stop, think, exercise some self control, and contribute, don’t bash.

Gaile has a history of partisanship and sarcasm. I find her attitude refreshing; she actually has a personality and opinions. She’s not a whitewashed corporate minion. I like her.
Reads first part: Hold on a minute! Humph!!!
Reads second part: Oh, ok, then. ~beams~
I enjoy a good joke and am quite often a fan of a wink and a nudge. I’m light-handed as far as closing threads or flagging for moderator review — we want conversation, we seek input, we thrive on player participation. And in turn, we should be tolerant and understanding except in cases of… well, you know the drill on what’s unacceptable here.
As far as being partisan, I have opinions, but you will seldom know them here and the devs will virtually never see them internally. My reports to the devs are as balanced and objective as I can make them. (For instance, no one internally has a clue how I feel about the new dailies.) The feedback I give the team on any particular subject (and they kindly do ask for feedback) is always “Some feel [this] and others feel [that] and a few feel [this other way] too.” I gather statistics and quotes to give a solid cross-section in very detailed reports that seldom reflect my opinion at all. Just wanted to get that on record.
And hey, thanks for the nice words and the vote of confidence.
I did the dailies. Because I felt like it. And hey, I survived too!
So toxic sarcasm is acceptable here, so long as your opinion supports current game mechanics. Good to know.
It kind of looks like she was just posting in the same lighthearted vein as the OP to me.
Yes, Ashen, you’re right. I view this thread as a lighthearted thread, not intended to “bash” anyone. Some do the new dailies. Some don’t. Some don’t like them. Some do. It’s all good. We have a thread for serious discussion of the topic, but this one is pretty darn funny. One of my faves so far: “I skipped breakfast.”
Neural — this really isn’t toxic. It’s sarcy and it’s saucy, but toxic it is not.
This thread is a lie. I skipped one daily and when I logged in the next day and not only were all of my characters were deleted and my account banned, but my identity was stolen and all my credit cards hacked so I could no longer even purchase another copy of the game (and a dev came to my house and stole the money from my sock drawer so I couldnt even buy one with cash).
Beware.
Wait, Sizer, did you forget to mention you refrigerator stopped working?
I’ve been doing dailies for 2 accounts since the update, in less than an hour for both. I too am still alive.
I commend you. I have to confess it’s taken me longer than 30 minutes to do mine, some days. But then, I have this tendency to stop and smell the flowers, or chat with other players, or get attracted by that Wintersday prezzie on the distant horizon, so…
And DJ — any time you get to use “plethora” in a forum post, the day is just a little brighter, wouldn’t you agree?
(edited by Gaile Gray.6029)
I encourage you to join [Noob] and actively seek out a mentor. If no one takes you, I will.
That’s great, Iris. Thank you for stepping up and offering to help out! Here’s to you and the thousands of others who do the same!
This thread is a compilation of several threads about Wintersday. We apologize if any of the previous conversations are combined oddly — that is, if a conversation is somehow interspersed with another one. This thread will allow devs to get your feedback efficiently, so please continue to post feedback of any kind in this thread.
Thank you.
No, the tinfoil hat theory is far, far from the truth, and it certainly doesn’t “need to catch on.” Please, resist these impulses and the forums will be a better place.
Note: Our moderator team was required to remove the initial post because it contained an image with offensive language and a transcript that contained the same unacceptable language.
Suffice to say the language used in the image—once verified and reviewed—will almost certainly result in administrative action unless some of the rarer circumstances mentioned above apply.
responding the meaningful stuff again, eh.
I’m glad Gaile is responding. Most of the time, this time of year, we hardly see any posts at all from ANET. Also, she seems pretty active in the daily thread. So Gaile, if you’re reading this, thank you for taking time out of your time off to post on the forums.
Thanks, Robert. At least someone looked at the clock (12:30 AM Pacific) and the calendar — a day off from work — and figured out I maybe shouldn’t be judge too harshly for where I choose to post.
Holy dolyak — that is truly amazing!
Thank you for sharing. <3
Best of luck with the tree, shambo!
Forgot Saturnalia.
Seriously, Happy holidays-of-whatever-kind-you-choose.
I think it would be good to value both the journey and the rewards and not focus exclusively on the end result. The sub-80 you party with today, the sub-50 you teach the ropes, may become your new guildie or a valued fractal/dungeon partner in the future.
I take on board not everyone wants to go this route, but I think in the long run it can be quite rewarding in ways that are more valuable than gold and tokens.
This is my kitten Pumpkin hunting vistas in real life.
Wait, wait, I’ve been on the vista — it’s a lovely view over the Northern Shiverpeaks, right?
(Give Pumpkin a pat for me. I <3 kitties.)
If we ever get to Jormag you guys could make a jumping puzzle in a Christmas tree to a vista in a new lvl 80 zone.
That would be… quite awesome.
I just had a lovely time hanging out with a few players in Rata Sum. Given the sudden appearance of a cauldron, we had a sort of cross-holiday mini event. Which got me even more into the Wintersday spirit, hence my shameless bump of this delightful thread.
I’d love to hear more Wintersday stories, see more pics, catch more fan art. Post here if you’d like to share!
The conversation can continue IF each person participating will step back just a tad and make sure he or she is not slipping into insults. Making generalizations or sweeping statements about people with whom you disagree isn’t accurate, it’s not fair, it doesn’t aid the conversation, and it doesn’t, in any sense, prove your point.
Have something to say? Go ahead and make your point, but please do it in a respectful manner… even if you totally and completely disagree with the person posting above you. Disagree, by all means, but don’t be disagreeable.
Thanks for understanding.
Ok, let’s talk about this.
Is it actionable?
Why didn’t an agent take action on the other player?
Would submitting a ticket help?
With this information, the team can pull logs. This can take up to several days, depending on ticket volume. But we don’t look the other way in cases of harassment, hate speech, swearing, stalking, offensive language, and things of that nature. If the incident is confirmed, something will be done.
Sometimes you will hear in a general sense what took place; other times you may not hear but should have confidence that reports of this sort of thing will be handled thoroughly. If you feel something has slipped through the cracks, post in the “Tickets for Review” and provide your ticket number for the CS Lead can review the case.
And I agree with Ardenwolfe and Rangelost: Report and move on. Don’t let it be a focus — the game’s too fun and life is too short to empower someone else to spoil your day!

We are definitely looking forward to the CDIs in the new year. It was a natural break, with the holidays, but I feel sure we’ll be picking them up in the coming weeks.
We performed a forum reorganization recently, and the CDI Sub-forum was created in preparation for the kick-off of a new CDI in the new year.
We’re looking forward to the continued collaboration!
As you may have noticed, we added a message to the in-game mails a while back that lets you know that a particular mail is coming from another player and not from ArenaNet.
Please heed that message.
Don’t be taken in by:
If we’re going to give you something, we don’t need your password. If your account is in jeopardy, you won’t be able to “validate” it through a link to some shady third-party site.
If in doubt about any in-game mail, report it using the in-game system or contact Support by clicking “Support” at the top of this page and submitting a request to check on what you were sent.
Best: delete such mails immediately and put the would-be account thieves out of business.

Suggestion:
- Three PvE dailies, but make events at most racial-theme-specific. Keep most, if not all old dailies on the random roster to generate 3 required PvE dailies per day.
Benefit:
- Players can exercise their game geography muscle and participate in a game of match designed by themselves. They will not feel being told to perform a menial task, but the task becomes a challenge that they can elect to solve on their own knowledge.
- When zone restriction is racial-zone based, it focus player population, but not to an extreme.
Here is some straight up feedback, no bs.
The Good:
1. The new dailies are great, rewards for each one completed, don’t have to do 10 different ones to get 10 AP.
2. Login rewards are great. You get 35 laurels (55 if you pick it in last chest). You get 10 free levels for any character per month (6 more in the last chest, so you can get 16 total). The Bad: (While the login rewards are decent, they lack 2 things)
1. Luck. You only get 2000 in a month. That is absolute crap, I get almost 10 times that amount salvaging stuff throughout the day. Please increase it to a more reasonable amount.
2. Mystic coins, you only get 20 in a month, and since monthlies are getting pulled. You will be losing out on 30 mystic coins (1 for each day, and 20 for completing the monthly, so you would have gotten 50, now its only 20). The amount of these need to be increased as well. Maybe try this instead. Day 1 – 2 Mystic Coins, Day 8 – 4 Mystic Coins, Day 15 – 8 Mystic Coins, Day 22 – 16 Mystic Coins. Then add on 20 Mystic coins for the 28th day as an automatic reward just like the 2% increase to gold find. This way we will still get our 50 mystic coins we used to.
I really admire your style. Thank you both for feedback and constructive suggestions.

Hey all. I’ve put together one report on this subject for the devs, and I intend to write up another one after the holiday break.
I’ve changed the subject line to be a bit more neutral and hope that everyone will contribute thoughts on the subject of the new dailies!
Ok, but can we start another thread on the topic “I don’t like the new dailies,” because we are not neutral on the topic.
No one is asking you to be neutral. We’re asking everyone to contribute feedback in this thread, be it positive, negative, or neutral. As long as it’s offered in a constructive tone, it’s welcome — as proved by the light moderator involvement and the length of this thread. Any new threads would be unnecessary and redundant when this thread houses such a wide variety of feedback.

Great thing about the GW community is that you do have high level friends you just haven’t met them yet. I’m willing to bet if you go to DR or LA and ask in chat you’ll find someone willing to run you to Orr, maybe even a couple of someones
Already found someone (well, they found me). Indeed, gotta love this community, thanks everyone!
It’s great that you got the help you needed. And yes, I agree, this is an amazing community. : D
Happy Wintersday.
While we regret that the search engine is not currently functioning properly, there are numerous threads on this topic and we’d like to keep the discussion more focused. Please contribute to an existing thread rather than starting yet another one on the same topic. Thanks.
Please keep your input in this thread on topic. But does the topic need to be restricted to one specific mode of gameplay? I’d ask that you please not report this thread if the conversation is appropriate and within the Forums Code of Conduct. After all, even if the OP referred to WvW, maybe the conversation is relevant to PvP, PvE, WvW, or AbC.
If you feel that a build isn’t right for a certain type of gameplay, feel free to say so (respectfully) in the thread. Please do not report and try to pilot the thread in your desired direction. Thanks.
What a lovely way to thank you friends for their thoughtfulness. This is very sweet art, thanks for posting it and Happy Wintersday!
What do you mean, “sarcastically commenting,” hmmmm?
That cat! Ahhh
I agree, that’s my favorite part. Too cute!
That is just awesome. I’m still smiling!
Happy Wintersday to everyone in GDUA!
That’s really sweet! And I love that you incorporated signage in one of the Tyrian alphabets!
I think it’s a fair question. First, I apologize because I feel I’ve missed the chance to be more active in that forum. I’ll make sure I’m in there more often and I will share with the team, too. In addition, I’ll ask other members of the team if they’d like to share fan art and other creations from our official forums, too. For instance, perhaps Rubi will be able to highlight a forum contribution — I’m not sure, but I sure can ask her.
Thanks for raising the question.

Thank you, everyone, for your continued warm greetings.
We <3 our players and wish you the best best of the season, be it Christmas, New Years, Hanukkah, Kwankaa, the Winter Solstice, Wintersday or any other celebration!
I think I should say something there: There have been several issues relating to latency and connectivity, not a single issue that, once fixed, resolves the problem for everyone. Please know that the team is looking into the short-term issues (like yesterday’s issue, which was resolved in a matter of a couple of hours) as well as those longer-term issues that they’re still working to resolve.
Thank you for your continued patience, and remember — I posted just a day or two ago with advice on how to get your logs into the hands of team members working on this issue. Please follow those steps, if you wish, so the team can help you.
If you can kindly send reports as instructed earlier in this thread, our devs are working on this (even on the holidays) and I know they’d like to help as many people as possible. Alternately, if you wish to submit a CS Ticket, you’re welcome to do that instead.
We’re very, very sorry for those inconvenienced by this issue. Even while you can see from my earlier post that the issues seem to be outside our system, our team is analyzing each to see if there’s a way for us to help.
Feel free to share your constructive input here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/I-dislike-the-new-dailies/first#post4628737
Thank you.
We’ve had a few threads pop up about issues in viewing or using the Currency Exchange. The team is on the case and we will post when there’s some additional info to share.
UPDATE: New information and a suggestion here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Currency-Exchange-Issues-merged/page/3#post4674238

Malavian, what you describe happened to me several years ago, and as abomally suggests, it really was the pending death of my power supply that caused the oddness.
bird — are you in the EU? (Seeing “qwest” makes me think not.) Anyway, just got an e-mail that there’s a new connectivity issues involving our Frankfurst (Germany) data center and the team is working on it. If you’re not in the EU, then something else is the cause. In either case (EU or not EU) the team is collecting information to try to resolve issues.
Here’s a way to help the team:
Getting the output of those commands via email will really help.
Here are instructions for Windows.
Thanks for sending us this info — the team feels sure it will help narrow down the problem!
Just got an e-mail from that said there’s a new connection issue with our Frankfurt Data Center. The team is working on this and hope to get this one settled soon.
For those with longer-term connection or latency issues, please review how to get in touch with us earlier in this thread. We’d like some logs to check this out with you.
Hey there. Sorry you’re having issues. I just got an e-mail saying there were some connectivity issues between our Frankfurt data center and the central log-in server in Dallas. That may be causing the problem. Bear with us — team members are investigating!
Thank you ArenaNet for the past year. Thank you for the Living Story, it has been awesome. Thank you for all those changes what you have done to this game and made it even more rewarding and fun
Season’s Greetings to all ArenaNet employees and for their families
How can that Snowman have 2 Minis?
Hmmmm… you have to wonder, eh?
I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and a marvelous new year!
(Well, except any RMTers, botters, cheaters, or griefers who might read this. For them, may the cold hands of Grenth grasp their toes and hold them in an eternal, icy embrace!)
How sweet that two forum members made such cheerful posts. Thanks from all of us at ArenaNet!
