Surprise, surprise…. Mesmer is at the bottom again.
“Real good?”
I’m at around 87% and I haven’t seen an increase or a decrease in the amount of valuables that I receive per day. I’ve only had two exotic drops in the past 6,500 hours, one of those being 3 years ago at the very beginning of GW2, the other one 2 days ago. From my experience, MF doesn’t work.
All I want to do is enjoy the scenery, but I keep getting knocked down by heat-seeking rocks – all the while I’m looking for the noobs that threw them while I’m plummeting to my death.
Thief isn’t really meant to be a supportive class. I mean, it’s great that you want to support your team, but you support your team by doing damage as a thief.
Besides, don’t you think we have enough support classes? Druid, Chronomancer, revanant, guardian, etc. True, the thief doesn’t have support-like skills, but you serve your party best by doing lots of damage while everyone else keeps you alive
Haha, I was thinking the same exact thing today. I literally always get hit by rocks, even though I never fly close to enemies. The range needs to be toned down. A lot.
1. Dueling is fine in WoW, where you have a subscription fee, because normally it’s only mature adults that can afford to play WoW. GW2, however, is not subscription-based, and therefore has many children that can afford a one-time payment. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want a “Player X has requested a duel with you” box popping up at me every 30 seconds. Trust me, it happens in other MMO’s. A lot.
2. There have been plenty of times where I wanted to inspect another person’s equipment because I was curious about what armor they were wearing. I see no harm in it.
The people that are against it because of “Elitists kicking them from the party” obviously haven’t noticed that the elitists kick based on achievement points/mastery points nowadays. There will always be something they can kick you for… regardless of the inspect option. I say add it.
LMAO on the whole idea that WoW is remotely more mature than GW2.
The entire reason I left WoW was because you couldn’t spend more than 20 seconds between bloody children following you around demanding duels.
“You scared bruh? Duel me bruh!” Block.
Suddenly, clanmates appear “You scared bruh, duel him bruh. Don’t be a kitten.”
Repeat this for the entire duration of a weekend of gaming. For months.
No dueling in this MMO, please – it only appeals to the children.
lol, I had no clue. From my experience, I only met adults in WoW that didn’t act like complete children. It was a rarity when I got a duel request more than once. Then I came over to GW2 and got random whispers from kids that made no sense, party invitations every couple seconds from strangers, and you can forget about civilized conversation in PvP. If you have an off day, you can expect to hear, “L2P, scrub.” and “noob!”. On a day where you pwn everyone else it’s, “Wow, get a life brah!”.
If the loot system returned to what it originally was, I’d be sitting at 50 silver instead of hundreds of gold. No thanks.
I already said this in the german forums, but I do hope that not all future maps will have the look and feel of the latest ones. They’re really cool, but they wear on you after awhile. Especially when you glide all the way down to the ground, only to find out that the point of interest you were looking for was somewhere between where you started and the ground.
You do realize that the point of interest if you mouse over it shows you how far above or below you it is.
Yes, but sometimes you have to be flying right above the poi or the mastery point, otherwise, if it’s placed on a cliff or on a tree branch, it’s very easy to miss and fly by (for me at least). I also forgot to mention the ones that are underground and up in the canopy… those are really difficult to find and as a new player, I got completely confused.

Hi guys!
[The Valiant Horizon] is a brand new guild (literally started it yesterday) hoping to recruit players of all types…. casual, hardcore, and everything in between. I created the guild based solely on the purpose of creating a friendly and effective atmosphere where events, raids, dungeons, etc. can be arranged without difficulty, and where new players receive the help they need.
The focus of the guild is mainly PvE, but once the guild expands, we will also do WvW.
What you need to know:
-Be aware that this guild is brand new and requires patience in order to grow.
-Anyone is welcome. If you have friends, invite them! The more the merrier!
-Events will be rare at first, but as we grow the frequency of events will increase.
-We are located on the world “Stormbluff Isle”, but we do not require you to live there.
Rules:
-No cursing
-Be friendly
-Have fun
If you’re interested, send me a letter in-game!
Thank you!
-Galtrix

To be honest, I found the armor variety at the beginning of this game very poor. That being said, I came directly from WoW where armor sets were abundant and you would rarely come across two armor pieces that looked similar. I was just disappointed, when scrolling down the Trading Post screen, to see that the look of some armor was just transferred to higher-level items. That just goes to show how much of a foreshadowing that was.
I can understand the reasoning for Anet not including armor sets in the Living World Story, as it’s expensive. What I don’t understand is that it takes 9 months to develop… that simply doesn’t add up. Meanwhile, f2p games are adding armor sets like nobody’s business.
Yeah, I’m mostly talking about the multiple bugs that pop up in that story. The glitch where you can’t fly, the glitch where a rock hits you even though it didn’t, and the crashes.
I figured it might’ve been my set-up that caused the crash, but then I hopped on my gaming computer instead of my laptop and I had the same issue. Once I logged back into the game, both my friends told me they had also crashed, so I figure it can’t just be me.
I just want to bring Anet’s attention to the fact that that part of the story needs some bug fixes.
This has been going on ever since HoT was released. I crashed doing the end-story myself when I had to go through it, and it crashed twice while I was trying to help a friend go through it.
Please fix it. It’s such a crucial part of the story and when it crashes, that wipes the story out of my mind and replaces it with confusion and anger.
Just roll a Chronomancer. I literally kill DH’s all day long without a problem. They’re normally the second class that I target in PvP (the first being Thieves).
With the Auric Basin multimap meta, I acquired 100 ectos in less than 3 days. So, it’s safe to say that ectos are very easy to acquire nowadays.
Hah, you’re lucky you weren’t here for the release of Orr. Literally everything in GW2 is cake nowadays compared to the difficulty of the early GW2.
Please don’t add this. It makes any half-decent game seem extremely lame.
It’s wardrobe wars. Why would this look “extremely lame” in such game?
From what I’ve learned in this game ( never was an issue in any other game I’ve played) some people just like to dictate to others how they should dress their own personal characters which really makes no sense at all whatsoever that they would be in some one elses business like that, but hey that’s just how some people are I guess. I’m so glad it’s not like that in real life, I wear whatever the heck I want in real life and no one tells me anything.
Any sane person would try to dictate how someone dresses if they wore a bikini into battle. I don’t want this game to turn into a korean MMO where females wear next to nothing. Seeing someone wear a bikini into a Tequatl fight COMPLETELY breaks all immersion. I can’t speak for Anet, but I am 99% sure that Anet will never add freakin Bikini or swimsuit outfits. And for that, I am grateful.
What’s the difference in some one going into battles without any armor on at all showing off their ugly yellow underwear and bra? I see that every where even in pvp, I think it would be better to just make a bikini/ bathing suit set for them so they can have armor stats while playing which helps not only them but everyone else around them on their team or at the boss fight or whatever. I even remember reading a post on here about armor where this person was playing a norn male and couldn’t find any shorts for him so decided to just never wear pants ever so he or she could get the look they were going for even if it meant sacrificing armor stats. So yea you aren’t going to stop people from not wearing cloths, they might as well add nice things for people who like that look so they can enjoy their game more and be more effective. And if people don’t like looking at others characters they should add something to turn off other people’s character models that would solve both problems.
1. What game are you playing, and who are you playing with? I’ve never seen anyone in their underwear in this game unless I previewed an armor piece that my character couldn’t wear. If you add stats to a bikini, that’ll simply increase the number of people running around with less clothes on – that’s simply a dumb idea.
2. Well, the number one difference is that it completely breaks immersion. It’s simply stupid to be able to wear a swimsuit into battle. MMORPG’s used to be about fighting difficult enemies, finding friends to quest with, and fully decking your body with pimped-out gear. Now it’s just about the people that played barbie-dress-up and korean MMO’s that want to dress up their characters in swimsuits. That’s equivalent to a “My Little Pony” fan at a monster truck rally trying to add pink to the trucks and make the drivers wear dresses. They simply don’t appreciate what’s already there and are trying to change the genre into something else. I hope you didn’t take offense to that, as I meant none.
3. I’m, by no means, against underwear in MMORPGs. It’s tolerable because nobody willingly chooses to wear nothing into a teq fight, and you really don’t see it often. When you add swimsuits, I guarantee you will see more people wearing bikinis (which is just as bad as the underwear). And worse – they can wear that crap into a teq fight. Immersion = broken.
If you want to throw swimsuits into the game, be my guest. I’ll find a different game if that happens.
Please don’t add this. It makes any half-decent game seem extremely lame.

Sorry, but I have morals and I don’t really want to see half-naked woman running around. Believe it or not.

Do World Completion and then try to craft your legendary. Farming up the money to buy a legendary would take a long time.
If you earned 50 gold every 3 days, which is about the average I earn, it would take you exactly 179.7 days to make 2,995 gold (which is the price of one of the cheapest legendary weapons).
I honestly don’t know if crafting would be faster than farming, but I think it would.

Spoilers below (obviously).
The reason we are distrustful of Caithe is because she stole the egg that we were tasked to protect. It’s part of the Living Story Season 2, so you might have missed it, but we were tasked by the Pale Tree to protect the egg and Caithe stole it.
We had no knowledge of her motive for stealing it, because she never told us. So yes, we have good reason to be made at her.
As for cliff hangers, that’s a matter of preference, but since the LS began we’ve had cliff hangers. I mean we defeated Scarlet, but we saw Modremoth wake up at the same time and then, the end. Okay wait for the next one.
I personally like cliff hangers, so I don’t mind, but I could see where it would annoy some people.
Actually, the reason Caithe stole the egg is mentioned by her toward the end of the HoT story (by the spinning tree). You have the opportunity to talk to Caithe and she tells you that she saw the egg as part of her “Wild-hunt” and thought she could protect it herself. If you missed that opportunity, you’ll have probably noticed that your character started being nice to her again and that’s why you can take her with you to fight Mordremoth.
Of course I didn’t miss it. I’ve done the story on eight characters already. But we still don’t completely trust her and there’s plenty of evidence in the story that suggests that’s the case.
My character doesn’t care if it’s her wylde hunt or not because The Pale Tree gave us a task and Caithe stole the egg from under our care. Maybe it was her Wylde Hunt, maybe it wasn’t but she’ll have to come a ways before anyone is going to trust her again.
Sorry, I didn’t mean to sound condescending. I nearly skipped past the part where you can ask Caithe why she stole the egg and that’s why I said, “If you missed that opportunity”.

I’d like to see another sink for Airship Oil as well. Not only that, but also for Bloodstone Shards and the other ascended materials that stack up extremely easily. My bank is completely full of it and I’ve been deleting them for weeks now.

I really don’t mind RNG if there’s at least a half-decent chance of receiving something good. The reason so many players thought RNG was bad was simply because it was implemented at every possible opportunity at the beginning of GW2 AND because the chance of getting good items was horribad (and still is sometimes).
What I absolutely hate is when time-gated stuff and RNG are implemented to prevent players from progressing. When players like me, that may only have the chance to play once a week for a long period of time, that stuff sucks. I could easily make a ton of progress in that one day during the week, but because of time-gates and RNG I wouldn’t be able to.
It’s definitely meant to be that way. The biggest hang-out I’ve seen was in Dragon’s Stand. I was amazed at all of the players standing at the entrance, and then 10 seconds later, the map gets blasted by Mordremoth and all of the players died, including myself.
I really enjoy the fact that I have to stay on my toes in HoT and that I could die at any moment if I’m not careful. It definitely adds to the authenticity of the “dangerous” factor that Mordremoth is supposed to bring to the jungle.
Try running as a female character. You don’t don’t wear any pants.
There is one bandit event that is incredibly difficult. I have extensive experience in games that require incredibly quick reaction time, dodge-rolling, etc., and yet I can’t react fast enough when this one bandit launches his spikes at me. His name may have been Varre the underhanded.
Anyway, there’s no way to tell when he is about to launch the spikes at you, so you basically have to guess when he’s about to do it. And if you see that you’re about to get attacked, you have about half a second of reaction time to dodge. That doesn’t really make sense that the boss can be this difficult in a level 20 area.
HoT Price Feedback + Base game included [merged]

The expansion, just like the Core game, is much more than just the HoT storyline. One can not disregard content included in a purchase price, just because one dislikes it. It is still content, as games such as MMOs must cater to a wide variety of content and potential players.
And, don’t forget, there is more ‘storyline’ dropping next week, and every 2 to 3 months after. All part of the purchase price of HoT.
Even if I did absolutely everything HoT has to offer I would still not get more than a month out of it. We are still talking about the price – the core game was released with 8 classes, dozens of maps and thousands of hours of playtime. The expansion was released at the same price, yet only has one class, a few maps and a negliable fraction of the playtime. Plus, if Living World 3 is anything like the first season, then episodes will be over in a matter of hours. I still see no reason to buy HoT when it is priced so disproportionately.
Really? I sure got more than a month out of it.
The expansion was comparatively priced to other expansions. Expansions also never contain the same amount of content as its core game. If you believe otherwise then looks like you will never buy an expansion and those Fallout 4 DLC’s that so many people are looking forward to must be a bad deal.
Content is only worth to someone for what they’re willing to pay for it.
I still don’t understand how people are willing to pay 50 dollars for such a lack of content. HoT was comparatively priced to WoW’s expansion, which is the only MMORPG daring enough to price their expansion at 50 dollars. Unless of course you can name another MMORPG that priced their expansion at 50 dollars. WoW: Legion also has…. I would say about 10 times the amount of content that HoT does.
Here is what WoW: Legion contains – http://us.battle.net/wow/en/legion/#features
By this point, you’ll probably argue that Anet doesn’t have the number of employees that Blizzard does, and therefore doesn’t have to meet the content that WoW: Legion has set.
And I will say: Well, they compared the price of their expansion to that of WoW’s, so did Anet just forget to compare the amount of content too?
Think about what you’re saying here. “Expansions also never contain the same amount of content as its core game”. True, but that DOES NOT warrant a 50 dollar price tag. You pay 60 dollars for a full game, and then 50 dollars for not even 1/10th of the content of the 60 dollar game? Logically, that’s a rip-off.
Your link doesn’t show much content.
And yet it contains way more content than GW2: HoT…
-A full CONTINENT. Tell me when something that large was ever implemented in GW2.
-New bosses and DUNGEONS.
-A new class
-Class halls
And we’ve already surpassed the content of HoT by a mile.
I mean, if you’re willing to pay for HoT and you think it’s worth it, then by all means, buy it. But don’t try to justify the price tag to other people when it’s so obviously not worth it. If HoT was comparatively priced with other expansions, the content should also be comparatively priced. Otherwise it’s a rip-off.

According to my simple:
by the game itself has 132 sets of clothing as a whole.
More than 1000 kinds of back, waist props of the skin
Each weapon has hundreds of skin, there are 12 kinds of weapons.
Game mall is about 132 sets of clothing as a whole.
Mount mainly stores to sell. Pet mainly games.By comparison,
Guild wars 2, the new content in 4 years,
Mall: 32 + weapons, 35 + suit, 23 sets of gliding
The game itself: 19 sets of weapons, the legendary weapon 4, legendary back 2 pieces, pink 2 shoulders.6 armor skin.“Jian Wang3” prop update speed is almost 5 to 10 times the GW2?Especially on the comparison of armor skin, “Jian Wang3” has 132 sets of the game can get skin (some only color difference), only six sets of guild wars 2.
Not quite sure what you mean with the GW2 comparison. You seem to be comparing The chinese game as a whole (unless google translate is fail, lol) compared to some GW2 updates. GW2 has 1500+ individual armor pieces and close to 2500 weapon skins, 37 outfits and 343 pets. That’s not exactly a small amount of content.
From what I understand, he’s comparing the amount of content added to each game within a span of 4 years. I could be completely wrong, but that’s what I understood.
Man, that was a long read. But you have good points. I’ve always wondered how toughness actually worked but I never had the patience to sit down and figure it out for myself, so thanks!
Farming was never hard in GW2. The thing that might have been hard is finding something to do you enjoy without having to justify your ingame experience via a numeric gold value.
Instead of asking if farming is hard you should be asking what people enjoy and try stuff out for yourself. Farming gold has always been a means to an ende in GW2, never THE defining endgoal though (unless you enjoy becoming a pixel millionaire which ofcorse is fine too).
That being said, here are some goals people enjoy working for:
- legendaries
- fashion wars
- wvw
- spvp
- dungeon/fractal speedclears (this sorta died down a bit)
- achievement hunters
I have no idea what you’re talking about. Gold was extremely difficult to acquire when GW2 was first released. 12 hours of straight-up farming netted me about 70 gold if I was lucky. Plus I had 73% magic find. That’s not much money for the amount of time spent on farming. On top of that, in the early stages of the game, gold was never a reward for anything you did. So if you didn’t farm, you were pretty much poor. Dungeon rewards were also time-gated, so that didn’t give you much gold either. If you didn’t farm, your income was approximately 3 gold per day, assuming you stayed logged-in for longer than half an hour.
So, compared to the early-game gold income, it’s extremely easy to acquire gold nowadays.

Long story short, ANet needs to give up on promoting PvP for F2P, given the release of elite specs.
I’ve discussed it before, but there is always going to be an advantage to having HoT. In a sensible situation where about half the classes used elite builds in their good builds (3 traitlines out of 6 used, random distribution), that still means that free players will be limited to half the classes/builds. Right now Elites are overtuned in comparison to their own core specs, but F2P will never be competitive unless Elite specs are nerfed PAST the point of equality (a bad result).
Or, they’re playing the long game.
Future elite specs are supposed to be balanced alongside the current ones, as that is the entire point of the elite spec system.
Using an elite spec was always going to be a mandatory option simply because mechanically, it wouldn’t make sense to be able to pair an individually good trait line with a limited elite specialization. The fact that core specs cna stack with Elite specs means that core specs simply can’t be on par with elite specs.
However, the entire design of elite specs is that thy’re build choices relative to one another. You can’t equip more than one at a time. once Anet releases a second spec for every class, HoT will also have moved to free to play, and the circle will be complete.
I’ve said this before, but Anet made a mistake releasing the elite spec system with only one option to choose, as the entire point of the system is that it has multiple, wildly different options that can only be so wildly different because they can’t stack with one another. That made elite specs a straight upgrade rather than a build choice, since all future balance is based on the assumption that everyone will be using one of multiple avaliable elite specs.
In stead, the should have released HoT with two specs to choose from, and perhaps the intent of the system would have been more clear. This will be the state of the game after the next expansion is released, and if they design the next specs to serve the purpose they set out to acheive with them, this will cease to be a problem for their F2P marketing.
The problem is their long game is failing right now.
Personally, my solution would be to allow HoT classes to be used by F2P’s in PvP ONLY.
Gets more people into competitive levels of PvP, and allows them to try before they buy-given how much my PvP play influences my PvE choices and preferences, I can see people experimenting with elite specs and then realising they really really want them.
That would definitely be an adequate solution.
Sorry, but it’s borderline ridiculous trying to play PvP against people with elite specializations when I don’t have them myself.
Why is this even a thing? I’ve heard arguments about WoW’s expansions also creating a power-gap, but those arguments are completely invalid. PvP in WoW was based on level. If I didn’t have the expansion pack, it didn’t matter because I was matched up with players of my own level, where it didn’t matter at all if either of us had the expansion or not. Even if I were max level, I wouldn’t be able to enter PvP with players that are a higher level than me.
GW2 is not WoW, and PvP consists of players all battling on an equal field – essentially, we are all level 80. I completely understand that Anet wants players to buy HoT, and I understand that they want a little power-gap to be in there somewhere. But I don’t need to be roflstomped every few seconds by a Daredevil or a Reaper just to be reminded that I need to buy HoT in order to properly compete.
Maybe I’m completely alone on this, and maybe I just suck at PvP, but is there anyone else that is of the same opinion as me?
Old Vanile necro, S\D Thief, Warrior GS\H, Ranger LB\GS they all can win against elite spec. So i dont think that ur problem is in elite specs. Btw how long do u play GW2 on ftp acc?
I’ve been playing Guild Wars since Guild Wars 1. How long have you been playing on a free account? That’s funny that you mention that those classes can beat elite specs, because those (with the exception of the necro) are the classes that I generally play with and I still lose. If an experienced player can get eradicated by elite specs, there’s a problem.
Its just problem of your skill nothing more. And if u cant\want get HoT its ur problem, bcs you have 2 options play as you playing now or buy HoT and stop QQ about especs.
The HoT specs are a straight upgrade from core specs, and for various reasons it is quite detrimental to the spvp side of the game to have a group of people playing without access to those specs.
Its sounds like you are getting every time with 4 more ppl without especs.
I don’t mean to be rude, but I don’t think English is your first language. I didn’t understand the last sentence at all. Could you rephrase it? Or I also speak German if, by chance, you speak that.
1. You’re wrong on so many aspects. I was playing Guild Wars before you were born, and therefore have a lot of experience with builds and how to adapt them to fit the circumstances. I have tried every possible build I could think of, including those of other people, and only a few have worked well enough to kill an elite spec and then die shortly thereafter.
2. Dailies sometimes require you to play certain classes in PvP…. classes that simply can’t compete with Elite Specs. Again, it’s incredibly dumb that Elite Specs have forced themselves into the PvP realm where I used to be able to compete, and now can’t.
Anet has no interest in spending money of features that encourage you NOT to spend money.
If you haven’t bought HoT at this point, you are no longer their customer. You are either a former customer, or a trial user with the potential to become a customer.
They can’t simply make elite specs free in PvP only, as then there would be literally no incentive for that eSports community they keep foolishly trying to chase to pay them at all. Their entire eSports setup is a marketing tool, specifically designed to sell more copies of the game. Making it more competitive by spending less money simply undoes that entire business model.
The problem with that is I still buy gems even though I didn’t buy HoT. That makes me a paying customer. And there are many people like me that didn’t buy HoT but buy gems. We’re still customers.
One wonders why you decided to support a company with your money that is using a business model you don’t agree with.
Gem store purchases are considered supplemental. GW2 is not a free to play game. it is a buy to play game with a free trial and optional microtransactions.
That probably isn’t going to change. They were very clear in the HoT announcement AND the F2P announcement that they consider their business model buy to play.
While they’ll certainly take your money, they don’t intend that you spend the money you could have spent on the expansion on gems for obvious reasons.
You decided that whatever skins you got from the gem store were more important uses of your currency than buying their game. Then you complained their game was poorly balanced for “paying customers”
You are the architect of your own balance issues in this case. You know that they designed their system around encouraging, nay requiring people to occasionally buy an expansion. You chose not to buy the expansion because you don’t want to support this business practice. Then you gave them money anyway… effectively supporting this business practice?
Doesn’t make a ton of sense.
I should have said that I “bought” gems…. I was thinking in present tense for some reason. I’m not currently buying gems because I do think this system is completely idiotic. Anet didn’t even have Expansion Packs in their minds when they developed Guild Wars 2. I bought the game, fully expecting that I would be able to play the content forever – without getting cheated by a completely random “Elite Spec system” that completely infringes upon the freedom of their core game. It’s just complete nonsense to add an expansion that gives a definite advantage in all aspects of PvP.
I liked the core game, that’s why I payed gems to support it. I would definitely pay gems again…. were they to remove the advantages of Elite specs in PvP or do something that makes it so players with the core game can continue playing PvP without getting steamrolled. It’s just such an obvious cash grab on Anet’s part to force us to buy HoT or get wrecked in PvP.
Anet has no interest in spending money of features that encourage you NOT to spend money.

Just buy HoT?
Honestly there may be many reasons why you can’t / won’t but is that not an option?
That is an option, but I told myself I wasn’t going to buy any of the expansions until I found a reasonable price to pay for it. I would probably hate myself if I bought HoT for 30+ dollars just so I could win PvP matches.

If Anet ever released capes, there would be an avalanche of hate mail over the fact that the capes have clipping issues. There’s no way they can win this, it’s best to choose the path of least resistance.
The wonderful thing is that you can hide the capes. There you go. Path of least resistance.
If the capes are going to be hidden, then why bother to make them? Also, how would this stop the flood of hate mail over clipping issues?
1. Most, if not all of my friends want capes. I think it’s safe to say nobody cares if they clip or not. The capes in WoW clipped for years and nobody really cared. The cape clipping is getting fixed in the next WoW expansion. It’s been 12 years since the release date.
2. Adding an option to hide capes helps those people that don’t want to see capes, therefore making the clipping issues nonexistent. People that want capes get them, while people that don’t want them can hide them. Simple.
So you and six of your friends want capes. I don’t see how that’s a successful business plan. I can’t believe that absolutely no one cared about clipping of capes in WoW. Anet gets a lot of grief over armor clipping issues. If people complain about armor clipping issues, why would the give capes a pass?
Again, if the capes are just gonna be hidden, then why bother?
You missed my points, apparently. I’ll bold them for you.
-Capes CAN be hidden by THOSE PEOPLE that don’t want to see them However, since most people want them, it would be wise to insert them into the game.
- Most people, from what I can tell, really, really, really want them. When someone wants something really badly, they tend to overlook the mistakes in what they want. If cape clipping were such an issue and had people actively complained about it, Blizzard would’ve taken care of it 12 years ago. But they didn’t.

Anet said NO—-get over it. Mods please lock or merge.
Anet would be wise to listen to the playerbase. This topic has been brought up so many times that it would be idiocy not to listen.
I still haven’t bought it, and probably never will unless the price gets lowered to 10 dollars or I find a deal where I only have to pay 10 dollars.
Sorry, but I read the contents of the HoT expansion pack, and I really do not think it’s worth more than 10 dollars. Regardless of it being a “set-up” for future expansion packs, it just contains so little content that I can’t bring myself to pay so much for so little. If I buy a car, I expect a fully functioning piece of machinery…. not just the frame of a car and the promise that the rest of it is going to be delivered piece by piece in the future. It may sound stupid, but that’s just my opinion.
ANet have said no capes, too many clipping issues with Charr, so blame them.
They could just get rid of the Charr altogether. A lot of my characters are Charr, and I would much rather have a cape than the Charr race
I really like the idea. This idea is pretty similar to Guild Battles in Runes of Magic, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The one thing I would change is the “Debuff” concept for guilds that lose a guild battle. I really don’t like the idea of being punished so harshly that it transfers over to other guild battles.
Instead, I think any stored resources (meaning stored in the guild bank) can be available in the guild hall, and when that guild hall is defeated, a small portion of the mats (gold, ore, wood, fibers, raw mats) would be given to the guild that wins.
I also think these “Guild Wars” should be a mutual agreement. If I had a small guild and Guild Hall Invasions happened without a mutual agreement, I would be ticked because I keep getting slammed by guilds that are 50 times the size of mine. When a mutual agreement to stage a “Guild War” is formed, that makes it so guilds with 400 members don’t take advantage of smaller guilds, and both guilds are in it for the resources.
I do like the buffs to magic find, gold find, etc. But how about making it a win-streak reward? Competing for ranks is nice, but there’s not much incentive for the smaller guilds to compete in GvG. As a win-streak reward, the buffs would make the guild leaders think twice about going against a guild, if it meant losing their buffs.
Sorry, my writing is a little scatter-brained, but I think you’ll get most of what I said.
Please look up the difference between viable and optimal.
I know the definitions, thank you. Perhaps you should look them up?
So I’m just wondering are the build/skills broken?
No they aren’t.
When (and even before) GW2 came out, I remember the hype about how the skills are so varied, and traits are so different that you can play GW2 any way that you want.
And it turned out that wasn’t that great a thing. When evaluated, the 600 different permutations had 300 really bad one and several thousand people had rolled those, giving them not only just a sub-optimal experience but a really, really bad one.
However, you can’t play anyway that you want.
There are some builds that just don’t work. Some traits and skills that are, quite frankly pointless.Under the new system there aren’t builds that “just don’t work”. If they didn’t work you wouldn’t be able to create them, log in as them and play the game on them. Have you got any examples of what you mean and in which game type?
There are even some players, where all I see is the metabuild running everywhere.
And? Not sure what your point is. Players using meta builds? Surely this is a good thing? Only some players but you see them everywhere? Are you talking about guildies?
unless you run the metabuild, you don’t seem to be able to keep up, to participate as much, and be as effective.
Keep up with whom? You may not do as much damage with a non-meta build or not heal as much but you should be able to keep up by pressing the forward button. Participation is on the 1 button and effectivenes.. well that’s the definition of the meta build. The most effective one. So this is a tautology.
That to me, sounds broken
Well no, to me you sound confused about what the meta is and why it is. I can log in with my meta build and play the game. It’s working.
@ General Health Sorry, but you have no idea what you’re talking about. Instead of answering this guy’s question, you just confused him by spitting random opinions at him and avoiding his actual questions. I’d rather you didn’t respond to any future questions in the manner that you answered this one.
1. Yes, a lot of builds are broken – and by broken, I mean they just don’t work well enough to be viable. Builds that, logically, should be viable are not. This is coming from an experienced GW1 player that made builds of his own for years.
2. Berserker is the only viable build (outside raids) and will always be the only viable build in PvE. That shows you right there how broken the mechanics are. There are tons of different armor types, yet choosing any armor aside from Berserker gear produces sub-par results.
3. I really don’t understand how someone can defend the mechanics and say, “Oh, it isn’t broken”, when players use berserker gear and only berserker gear. If it were meant to be so, there wouldn’t be other armor options. So, both the builds and the armor system are broken, yes.
