Suggestions: NPCs by bank, Mystic Forge

Those NPC’s represent the game warning you not to use the Mystic Toilet and then in the bank, it’s the game telling you not to withdraw your valuables to throw into the Mystic Toilet.

I ignored the annoying greetings they gave me and now I’m penniless. Heed the inadvertent warnings of the annoying npcs!

From what i can recall its supposed to prioritize

Legendary
Champion
Elite
Vet
Normal

After that then Closest -> Furthest

That’s highly illogical. Every single mmorpg in the history of ever has made it so tab targets the closest enemy. If it wasn’t automatically preset to that, there was always an option to make it so.

Did HoT ruin GW2?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Galtrix.7369

Galtrix.7369

Go where you want to go, do what you want to do and be rewarded the same regardless of the path you take.

I miss that about the game.

HoT is another game entirely, not a Gw2 expansion. Its separated the community as well since not everyone has bought the expansion. Old guilds will always have some players that didn’t buy it and that isn’t a reason to not play with them. HoT does have issues and to some its justifiably, not worth it.

I really wish they would merge the mysteries into the old system. Without that connection, players might be hurting their own development by playing with their friends, since their time sinks are going into another mastery.

Personally, I’m one of 3 in a group of 31 that has the expansion and that whole “call out on map to get into a group” is terribly unreliable and usually doesn’t work.

I loved GW2 but this oversight on where players can play and with whom has made a mess large enough to knock the fun out of playing.

It’s not so bad anymore. Since HoT cost so much, I decided to go to the store and buy a bunch of single player games instead of HoT. Now I got back into single player games and have no need for this MMO crap.

Concerns about ANet development behavior

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I feel like I was screwed over by the fact that Anet didn’t buy me a new computer to play HoT on.

Nor have they deposited into my retirement fund.

Both complaints every bit as legitimate as feeling screwed over, after having played the game for as much as three years for a single purchase price, when the core game went free to play in order to lower barriers to entry with the addition of an expansion.

Oh, and some people did feel like they got screwed with expansion purchases in GW1.

1. I’m happy for you if you think you got a good deal out of it. I, for one, am not going to pay 60 dollars to ride a rollercoaster right now, when I can obviously wait 5 minutes, ride the coaster and get a free pass on the new fancy ride too… all for the price of one!

2. Those complaints on GW1 expacs were utterly pathetic. I saw nothing wrong with those expacs. The prices were nice, the content was really well put-together, and everything was fine.

1) Did you buy the base game willingly? Did you receive the base game when you paid for it? Did you play the base game, for which you paid, for as much (potentially) as 3 years?

My car sells for a lot less now than it did when it was new. Should I complain?

2) Those complaints about the GW1 expacs were every bit as valid as someone complaining that they got what they paid for in GW2, but that the asking price went down over time. I can get GW1 + expansions now for a fraction of the cost I paid at launch…should I complain about getting screwed over ?

My points obviously flew over your head there, friend. Therefore, I see no reason in continuing the conversation. But I wish you a good day.

The original box does say, “No Subscription Fee: Get the game and play. It’s that simple!” (Yes I still have my original box from when I bought it.)

Though there is no subscription fee even now, there is a charge for HoT and every subsequent expansion that comes out. (Assuming there are further expansions.)

So…does that mean ANet went back on its word? Or should we look at it as ANet “saving the game” by making more money off it rather than shutting down from lack of income?

To be honest, I don’t keep up with ANet’s finances. So I don’t know if the game was making money or losing money or what before they decided to do paid expansions. All I know is that I bought a game that was supposed to be buy once, play forever. Except now someone else can get what I got for free, and if they pay once, they get more content than I do.

I don’t think that was the best decision, but without knowing more about the specific reasons prompting it, I’d rather not express too strong an opinion. I’ve got the game I paid for, I’ll be satisfied with that for now.

How do you justify your confusion when it does not say never buy an expansion from us? And no one had to buy the expansion if they really didn not want to, but all it saids is no subscribtion which all of guild wars 1 games said as well and they had tons of expansions and no one complained.

You could of done more research if you really wanted to, if you are the type of person to expect an mmo without an expansion then you would think you would be the type of person to look into the companies game history. Anet still releases free content beyond just living story like any other mmo, but they always had worthy expansions anyways, whats the difference between paying for a 20 hour game for once 60 dollars once or twice a month and buying one expansion since the game has been out which offers far more hours?

Regardless, Anet’s made some pretty poor decisions. Making the core game free for new players was a giant one. Does it allow more people to join without having them pay an arm and a leg? Yes. Does it make the already existing playerbase angry because they feel they were screwed over? Definitely. They added injury to insult when they made the expansion $60. And then they added even more injury by making us pay for an “expansion” with about as much content as a free Rift update.

The difference with GW1 was that the expansions didn’t cost 60 bucks each and nobody felt like they got screwed.

HoT is what would have been LS3, instead of releasing it one chunk at a time they held everything back and packaged it as an expansion. That they couldn’t do both at once is not a surprise to anyone. It’s a rule of thumb that 80% of the problems come from 20% of your customers, this is what happens when you try to satisfy those who are never satisfied.

This.

Except Anet tends to do things in a way that makes real gamers question why they bought the game. Take Elder Scrolls online for example: Taking an entire race, an entire map, and entire essential core parts of the game and sticking them behind a wall that you have to pay to get behind. You want access to that stuff, you have to pay upwards of 60 bucks. I see no difference when Anet holds back LS content and throws it behind an expansion wall that costs 60 bucks. You bet when that happens 20% of the playerbase will be upset. On my GW2 box, I still remember it saying something about “Pay once, and that’s it”. Well that idea obviously got moved aside.

I’m not bashing here, but if you really stop to think about it, a lot of their moves have been questionable. For example, they seem to change their mind about things an awful lot. From Living Story to expansions, from giving hardcore raiding players Tequatl and then lowering his difficulty level so casuals could beat him, from normal servers to a megaserver, from normal classes to strange mutant classes (specializations). I could keep going, but I imagine you get the point. The mind changing drove away quite a few of my friends.

Once again it will work as a bad publicity (many sites will pick it up) , that the company will offer a different thing (character slot + refund of the x-pack , but you core game will loose any past progression+ many other things) and will show that cares for its community , while the vocal monirity looks like a duffuss that is trying to stir things up

Great, you’d play more. But would you pay more? Where do you think the money is coming from to pay for this largess? More skins outside the gem shop mean ANet is spending more and not earning more to make up for it.

Finally, it’s my understanding that “immersion” requires one to accept the game as one finds it. In this game, I find myself among people with ginormous wings and baby toons with legendary weapons.

All valid points…

To your last point: I would gladly throw money at Anet all day long if they added new armor sets that weren’t in the gem-store. It’s just a matter of incredibly bad style that they release armor through the gem-store. Immersion doesn’t exist when I have to get the newest, fanciest armor through a gem-store and not some long, epic quest. I still remember being thoroughly disappointed at how little variety there was in armor at the beginning of the game and how limited of a selection there was. If Anet added more armor, continuously, I would pay lots of money. On random stuff. Just to show my appreciation for what they do. Lately there hasn’t been anything they’ve dished out that I can support with money, quite frankly because I don’t see much quality content being dished out nowadays.

Mostly I’m just peeved that almost no new armor sets have been added to the game since launch, that haven’t been released through the gem-store. (Please, correct me if I’m wrong.) It’s almost like Destiny. To learn about the creatures, the areas, and the lore, you must exit the game and learn about them on the website. Immersion-breaker. In GW2, you don’t have to exit the game, but you buy armor from a gem-store and you don’t get them from quests or dungeons or raids. I’m sorry, but that’s just awful.

…just a reminder, since it seems forgotten in this discussion: you can purchase gems for gold. This means that any “gem” store item is available through gameplay, because anything you do earns gold, which converts to gems, which purchases gemstore items.

So, yeah, I can see “it would be great to get it as a drop for X”, but “unfair, gemstore items not available through gameplay” is not really such a valid complaint, yo.

The outrageous gold to gem ratio makes the complaint valid, unfortunately. I wish it weren’t so, but it is. I honestly can’t say how common gold is nowadays, but back in the days I was playing frequently, it would have taken me months to farm enough gold to buy a costume or a skin. Compare that to the days it takes to get in-game armor, and you’ll start to see the logic.

i don’t mind people to be able to “earn” stuff as long as i can still buy it in the gemshop.

Wat

?
i don’t fully understand your question but i will answer to what i think it means.

i don’t have that much time to play but i have tons of money. so instead of wasting my time playing the game i’d rather buy stuff with money of which i can earn much more than any ingame currency.
an example: let’s assume i want quip. if i farmed to get the mats and to buy the precursor and everything it would take me months if not years. instead i can just exchange 120€ worth of gems for the gold i need to instantly buy it. that’s like half an hour of work for me.

so i’m absolutely fine with skins being able to be earned ingame and even some that are exclusive to specific content which i will never reach. but i also like to have to option to just buy the stuff i want with cash (be it gemshop skins or tp) since that’s way faster and less work to me.

but it makes me feel extremely ordinary when everyone (regardless of level) can look powerful when all they did was pull out their wallets and I had to spend hours upon hours getting my stuff.

my suggestion would be getting a job.
no srsly now, you can turn this argument around 180°. what about me feeling ordinary when everyone can look powerful when all they did was use the time they seem to have so much of while i can’t because i’m busy making money.

The logic there doesn’t make much sense, friend. I can’t buy Kobe Bryant’s position on the lakers, because “I obviously didn’t have the time to become as good as him”. He spent time and a lot of effort getting there. Believe it or not, money does not equal the time spent on something.

What if that level 10 is an alt belonging to someone who also has at least 1 level 80 and they bought the gem store armour by running dungeons and then converting the gold to gems?

Does that make it acceptable?

And if so how can you tell, just by looking at what they’re wearing, which of those two it is?

Again, please don’t be angry with me for putting my opinion out there, because it is just an opinion….

No. I don’t really think any level 10’s should be able to wear that kind of armor, regardless of having a level 80 or not. I know I said I wasn’t going to drag any mmo’s into this, but I have to do a comparison here. When WoW introduced Heirloom items, people threw fits because of how high-level the armor looked. A lot of people made the argument that wearing rags at the beginning, leveling up and then getting better and better-looking was part of the experience.

Slowly increasing the look of your armor is something that makes you feel good… but when someone can just buy good-looking armor for real cash, it breaks the immersion completely.

literally ALL of the coolest armor that I’ve seen needs to be bought on the Gem-store.

I have yet to see a single armor in the gemshop that I was willing to spend gems or gold to get. Everyone’s tastes are different.

No matter how great you think the armor is, a huge fraction of players will hate it and vice versa. That means the only ‘solution’ is for ANet to add as many skins as possible in as many different ways as possible, to try to cover everyone’s playstyles and interests. Gem shop skins are great for some people because anyone can get them, regardless of the content they like.

The only problem with this plan is skins are one of the most expensive assets in the game to produce. ANet has no way of putting out as many skins as possible.

I’d certainly like to see more in the game, but I’d also like to continue playing the game for free, without paying a sub or paying for an expansion more often than once every 18-36 months. That means putting up with a bunch of cool stuff in the gem shop. I can live with that.

Of course, my opinion is only one opinion. I like most of the armor in the gem-store and I think it ruins the game (for me at least) when I see level 10s walking around with armor that’s cooler than mine and with armor that normally looks like level 80 armor. I’m not going to drag other MMORPG’s into this, but I really do think there’s a logic behind the armor gradually increasing in how nice it looks – scaling with the levels. It may sound a little selfish, but it makes me feel extremely ordinary when everyone (regardless of level) can look powerful when all they did was pull out their wallets and I had to spend hours upon hours getting my stuff.

I definitely agree… skins are expensive to produce, but that’s not Anet’s only source of income. Would their income take a hit? Yes, at the beginning. I’m of the opinion that, over time, more players would join or come back due to skins being released “not through the gem-store”. I would definitely play more often if they released, let’s say, 5 new armor sets.

This was my major gripe with this game from the very beginning. Generally, the look and feel of the armor that you receive as a reward is equal to the amount of effort and hard work that you put into getting it. The Gem-store completely wipes that away… literally ALL of the coolest armor that I’ve seen needs to be bought on the Gem-store.

In my opinion, armor doesn’t belong in the gem-store in the first place. Cool-looking armor is my motivation for doing difficult tasks and when armor like that is on the gem-store, my motivation to do difficult tasks for second-rate armor is completely gone.

Did HoT ruin GW2?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Galtrix.7369

Galtrix.7369

I can’t say for sure that HoT killed GW2, but I can tell you some things that drove me away from playing GW2 any further.

I played GW2 A LOT at release and I found it really fun… but I soon found myself logging in less and less due to a lack of exciting things to do. When I saw HoT came out, I immediately logged in with my non-HoT account to see what had changed because I was excited.

Things I didn’t like about HoT:
*The expansion costs $50… which wouldn’t be so bad if it were as expansive as the original game. Most of the content of the expansion was made up of “Masteries”, “Specializations”, and other skill additions, making it feel as if I were paying $50 dollars purely so I could win a PvP match and not get stuffed in the face by players with HoT. Yes, I did indeed find out that it is incredibly difficult to kill anyone (on certain classes) without buying HoT. Just these few things kept me from playing further.

*Everything is so complicated now. Granted, I hadn’t played in years, but I logged in only to find myself completely and utterly confused at the jumble of countless new interface windows. No tutorials saying “This is what that is for”. I sat there opening windows for like half an hour asking myself what the heck I was looking at.

Things I like about HoT:
*It added new maps, new raids, and a new class. Standard expansion stuff right there.
*It added a new gliding mechanic, which I think is pretty cool.
*Elite specializations. This one is a double-edged sword. I find the specializations a good concept because it expands the play-how-you-want style, but it also makes balancing the classes a lot more difficult, and it makes everything more complicated than it has to be.

I picked a different server that said “Full”, and then I stopped playing for about 2 years. I came back recently, and the server that I had picked is also dead. I’m not trying to be negative here… I’m merely stating my experience.

ANET: Why Boxes inside Boxes inside Boxes....

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Galtrix.7369

Galtrix.7369

The first thing I noticed when I bought GW2 is that there is a TON of loot. I’ve played a lot of MMORPG’s, and I could go for about an hour or two just hitting the auto-loot everything button in those other games, and my inventory still wouldn’t be full. However, my inventory fills up in Guild Wars 2 literally within a span of 10 minutes.

The boxes only add to the pile of useless loot that you accrue, and then you have to spend a couple minutes sorting everything once you click on them. It is very, very overwhelming to be honest. I think they need to redo the loot system.

I find it very interesting that they want us to pay 50 dollars for an “expansion” that doesn’t include a whole lot of new content. The amount of content in HoT does not equal that of the basic Guild Wars game. My question is, why pay so much for so little content?

I’m still refusing to buy HoT, and my refusal is costing me dearly because now I have a disadvantage in PvP from not buying the darn thing. It just makes no sense to me how or why I should even buy HoT or continue playing the game when

  1. - It costs as much as the basic Guild Wars game, with maybe 1/25th of the content
  2. - The shear number of expansions they’re going to throw at us in the future will each cost 50 dollars, and then go free (possibly) when the next expac is released
  3. - I will be at a disadvantage if I choose not to buy an expansion

I agree wholeheartedly. Expacs may have ruined the game for me.

Void of Players

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Galtrix.7369

Galtrix.7369

One thing I noticed with the updates a lot of zones are pretty void of players.
You would think with all that content built there it would be smart to do something to draw players back into those areas as well not just abandon them the way they appear to be.

The vast majority of players I see are ones doing the boss spawns and raids.

The game has pretty much turned into a level 80+ game rather than one people build their characters up in.

I’m not sure something like offering new loot or armor would be that good. People would go there get it if it is what they want and the place would be abandoned again. Its like every time they add some new prize everyone goes and gets in then they never return unless they decide they want to for another character.

What is needed is items that have to be replaced regularly that characters need to get a greater power level they can’t get other places. Make it so each region has its own and they can’t be traded.

That way zones would always have a reason for users to go back to.

The one problem I see is that all people do nowadays is farm in raids and dungeons. Then a new event pops up in a newbie area, they complete it, and then go back to farming.

I have a number of issues, not least of which is the appallingly clunky and sluggish control system, made worse by the fact that the game seems to rely on moving around quickly to avoid attacks etc. WoW is slick as you like, just like a FPS game. Is there ANY way around these horrible controls?

Would love some constructive feedback so I can at least try to get back into things, but frankly I dropped back to WoW and breathed a sigh of relief. It is such a fluid, beautiful (well some parts!) and responsive game. GW2 feels like a fun school project built on a very dated engine.

I know the feels. Everyone, except a few people like you and I, are oblivious to the crappy controls and response time of skills and such. I also came from WoW, and I realized that Guild Wars 2 was not a game that I would enjoy after hitting level 80. If you truly enjoy playing WoW, I would tell you to stick with it, because Guild Wars 2 just doesn’t have the same feeling that WoW gives you. Heck, I really don’t even consider GW2 as an MMORPG, let alone an RPG. It has an entirely different atmosphere than WoW.

Stop making these threads. Yes, it was cool – but it’s not needed.

The feature patch wasn’t needed. The ascended armor wasn’t needed. You need a better argument.

No.

Go to the League of Legends forums. Anyone with an opinion different from Riot’s opinion gets downvoted into oblivion, and none of the most valuable game-changing suggestions ever get seen because they get downvoted so quickly and hidden behind a “This message has been hidden due to excessive downvotes” sign.

The trolls basically took control of the forums using the downvotes.

There needs to be item drops on death in WvW

Galtrix.7369

That’s literally the worst idea I’ve ever heard in my entire life.

In Guild Wars 2, where it takes someone 2 to 5 seconds to kill someone, and where zergs run people over if you travel alone, you think it’s a good idea for people to drop valuable items to loot?

This isn’t Runescape, where it takes hours just to kill one person in the wilderness.

This game has become so stale over the period of a few months. For a “living world”, there sure seems to be a lack of change in the actual world.

Not only that, but this latest patch only seemed to complicate things. The ridiculously clunky UI’s and the transmutation crap that Anet could’ve gotten rid of are some of the things that come to mind. Everything Anet does looks like a blatant cash grab.

Nah, no thanks. I think I’ll go outside and enjoy the nice weather. Guild wars 2 has ruined MMOs for me for awhile. I won’t be a part of this sinking ship when it goes down.

How to level up reward tracks in open world?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Galtrix.7369

Galtrix.7369

the reward tracks are strictly for spvp. they are incentive for people to engage in the spvp. since the removal of any/all pvp armor/weapon skins, the tracks reward those who engage and allow them to earn rewards that are useable in both pvp and pve.

I’m actually okay with the PvP rewards being strictly for SPvP, as there was 0 incentive to compete in SPvP before this patch.

I’m with you. Though I was never a part of the roleplaying crowd, it was nice to see an active RPing community running around a map every once in awhile on TC. RPing was fun to watch, and I really dislike how it was basically destroyed in this patch.

That would’ve been amazing, but unfortunately Anet would lose money if they implemented a system like that. They wouldn’t sell nearly as many transmutation charges.

Then I guess it begs asking the question: Why the hell would I use transmutation charges before 80, and why the hell do I have to suffer for 80 levels before I can finally look decent?

Because money. With everything Anet does, they have to take money income into consideration. If they don’t make money with it, it doesn’t get implemented. Think I’m lying? Not a single set of equipment has been released through a merchant in-game. The armor Anet creates is always in the gem-store for real money.

Anet had a chance to get rid of the transmutation crap altogether, but they instead chose to implement “Transmutation Charges”, so they still make money every time you want to change armor.

Play while downloading

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Galtrix.7369

Galtrix.7369

Unlike GW1, GW2 is not instanced at all. This means you need to have everything downloaded for the game files otherwise things can be problematic for you if you try playing with 1/2 the client files downloaded (you dont know WHICH half was downloaded).

Meanwhile, WoW has allowed you to play while downloading for years. Heck, I maybe downloaded 1/4th of the necessary files to play WoW, and I was still able to play it while it was downloading.

Also: Instances/no instances have absolutely nothing to do with being able to play while downloading.

Hahaha, no. Any time they see my Staff Elementalist, they basically broadcast a “Kill on sight” message to everyone on their server. I ran into a zerg and tried to wave to them. I succeeded in waving for about 2 seconds before the commander locked onto me and I was insta-killed.

And if I don’t get killed by a mindless zerg, I am killed by a bearbow ranger that finds it funny to launch me off of high places using pointblank shot.

Not once have I had a friendly encounter in that Ranger-infested hellhole.

How about you remove the trading post?

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Galtrix.7369

Galtrix.7369

The player Economy is an important part of MMO’s. Removing the trading post is a non-starter, as far as ideas for any MMO, Not just this one. If it ever happens I’ll eat my hat.

Unfortunately, trading posts and auction houses are doomed to fail. If you haven’t seen WoW lately, the prices on the auction house are ridiculously high on everything. (I hadn’t played WoW in years) So I created a character, then went to buy something on the auction house, expecting it to be 4 silver like it was years ago. 75 gold. For a pair of crappy level 7 pants. You’d have to level to max level and then farm for days to get that.

Auction Houses and other player-run things need to die off. They eventually will anyway.

No, but I do have a dad that makes hilarious comments every time he plays or watches me play GW2.

“Back in my day, the story was actually a story. And that story made sense, unlike today’s garbage”.

“Back in my day, we had to fly on griffins that took us on a 15 minute journey to get where we wanted to go. Nowadays, you can just teleport everywhere. Lazy ****es”

“World completion? Bah, in my day we didn’t get rewarded for exploring. All we got were animal pelts that we could make into leather armor, which we could sell for -5 gold”

“Wow, an entire 2 silver for a 5 minute event! Anet needs a raise for this amount of genius!”

I need to record him some time.

Do you like Black Lion Chest Keys?

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Galtrix.7369

Galtrix.7369

If having a chance of receiving an item is so uncertain and subject of contraversy then why does anet not tag each chest or rng item with a chance of receiving a certain item(s)? E.g. this chest has a 1 in 10 chance of having item X (scrap, ticket etc). That way, players know what they might get and the chances of getting it when buying said item. Seems reasonable right? Clears up questions and mysteries when buying such things. Scratcher card games do this. Just a suggestion.

From a business standpoint, think about what they’re doing.

If I was part of Anet, I would tell them to make the chances of receiving good items from Black Lion Chests extremely low to encourage the playerbase to buy more of the chests. I wouldn’t give out the exact chances of receiving said items from the chests, because people would take one look at the numbers and go, “Nope, never buying those. The chances are too low”.

lol. At the beginning of this game, I was more than happy to spend hundreds of dollars on armor/weapon skins and costumes to wear, but once they implemented the RNG boxes, I haven’t given them a penny. Now I realized that the skins they put in the gemstore are way overpriced, and now they’ll never get any money from me.

The Wolf's Guide to Getting a Legendary

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Galtrix.7369

Galtrix.7369

If you want to win stop looking at Gw2 like a game and look at is as a Wallstreet simulator, because that is what it is. Anything of real value in Gw2 comes from the TP and you barely get Skritt from actually playing the game.

And this is the main reason I dislike playing this game nowadays. Diablo 3 tried to use the auction house as the main source for obtaining armor/weapons and it failed miserably. People hated it.

Change this, and Guild Wars 2 will be better.

Hi! So I’ve played in GW2 for over 3561h now. Since the beggining I only ever found one precursor(the cheapest one) worth around 60-80g. Even when I’m lucky I seem to be unlucky. I know I should be happy, but you know, it’s 3561h, it’s a lot. I also wasted over 400g on mystic forge in attempts to get a precursor. I never got one, while my friend who barely started the game got 2 in a row in her few first attempts. Today I guested on Desolation, and apparently some guy found/made about 20 precursors already. Doesn’t it seem a bit weird? I mean, I don’t know much about RNG…but umm…why am I so unlucky? Will I ever get better luck at finding/making things?
Even events like Karka Queen, or Tequatl give me really bad rewards, I get mostly greens. I never received an exotic from neither of those bosses, while my friend got his exotic accessory 3rd time in a row(and my other friend got ascended 2nd time in a row from Karka Queen). Just…why? XD How can I be so unlucky? Is there some kind of shrine in Tyria I go to, to increase my luck?

What’s the point of this topic? I don’t know. I guess I’m hoping someone else is just as unlucky as I am. Also, if I’m in some kind of ‘rabbit-hole’ of being unlucky, will I ever get out? Will the RNG somehow reset and put me in a better spot? I’m not sure how to put this, I’m basically curious if I’ll ever start getting better loot.

I wish I had your luck. I’ve played just as long as you, and I’ve only looted about 8 or 9 exotics, worth about 2 gold each. I’ve dumped more than 3x the amount of gold that you did into the Mystic Forge and I haven’t gotten anything worth mentioning.

This must be the most unrewarding game I’ve ever played in my entire life. Even if you loot something good, you still feel like it’s crap unless it’s a precursor. Play some other games, then come back to Guild Wars 2 and play it casually. That’s the only way I’ve found to keep sane.
