AB Meta worth it now?

It baffles me that Anet would remove the AB multi-map after it was in-game for so long. Players had the opportunity to participate in the AB mm, accruing massive hoards of currency because Anet didn’t remove it and chose to keep it for awhile. Those players then participated in the economy by using their gold on the trading post. But, seeing as how all players could participate in the AB mm, it was fair.

Now that it has been removed, the economy is royally screwed for those that didn’t have a chance or didn’t want to participate in the ab mm and is tipped in favor of those who participated in ab mm.

I’ve questioned quite a few decisions that the devs have made during the run of this game, but this has topped the list. Unless they have a plan to tip the scales back to a fair position… but I seriously doubt it at this point.

Stop making Outfits, Start making Armor!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Stop making outfit threads. ANet has already explained the how and why of their armor and outfit development. Constantly making new threads about dead, beaten horses isn’t going to change that.

Well, that’s dumb. If we are willing to pay a lot of money for armor that can be sold through the gem store, then why would they not take the opportunity to make a lot more money? Having armor in the gem store is obviously a very desired thing if the topic continues to be brought up again and again.

Plus, I bought my first outfit this week, and I never plan on buying another… simply because you can’t mix-and-match at all. Overall, it’s just an illogical concept to sell outfits in a game that is based around making your character look how you want.

GEM Store Christmas Sale a Flop

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Galtrix.7369

Eh, I actually bought an outfit for the first time since I started playing 3+ years ago. The ice outfit that was recently released is actually really cool and I like it.

Although, I do agree that the gem store is lacking in anything that can be considered “worth it” nowadays. I bought nearly $100 worth of gems in the past couple of days and all I have to show for it is a couple of new weapon skins, a new outfit, a new pair of wings, and a couple bank/inventory expansions. Granted, I gambled a little bit on the black lion chests, but you’d still think that there would be better loot from those stupid boxes.

Although I like the outfit, I don’t think I’m going to buy any more… simply because it’s not possible to mix-and-match, which is dumb. Outfits need to be gotten rid of.

LOL if someone does exceptionnaly well . he dosent lose. Because doing exceptionally well means winning 1v2s and 1v3s and carrying the game with ease. All I see is that u were running around capturing empty nodes and getting few kills here and there.

if you are Stuck in silver for 20 games means that’s where you belong. I started in silver and won 1v2s on my thief and 1v3s on my DH.

Yeah… except that doesn’t make any sense whatsoever. Quake Live has the most even matchmaking system I’ve ever seen, and they have the system that I described. If you lose, but do well, your elo still increases. I was matched up with Fatal1ty (a pro gamer) and it was incredibly even.

Yet, when I go to games where, if your team loses, you lose, complaints run rampant that the system is unfair. Rising in rank shouldn’t equate to being able to 1vs2 or 1vs3… You should just be better than a certain percentage of the sPvP population and THAT should determine your skill rating.

Galtrix.7369

I get 21 kills, die twice. I capture more bases than anyone on either team. I revive 12 teammates. I do the most damage and get the most kills on my team. But we lose the game…. and I lose skill rating.

This is where I draw the line. I SHOULD NOT lose personal skill rating because of a team loss. Nobody should. That’s just unfair and illogical. Even if someone loses the game, but does exceptionally well, their skill rating should go up, not down. I’ve literally been stuck in silver 2 for the past 20-something games because our team lost, but I did really well.

Here is a very simple suggestion: Make personal skill rating personal. A team effort shouldn’t be reflected in a personal skill rating. Seriously… it’s the same thing season after season… Utilizing my suggestion would increase the quality of PvP sessions because the matchmaking would become even more accurate if personal score was the deciding factor.

Please, at least consider implementing this. I, as well as many others, have stopped playing sPvP entirely because it’s not fun to be handed a “loser trophy” when you know you just kicked everyone’s trash.

New pvp skill rating system broken?

in PvP

Posted by: Galtrix.7369

Galtrix.7369

It’s dumbfounding how the PvP system can be messed up time and time again. Personal ELO should be based on personal score, not if you win or lose the game. I try the sPvP every time it’s changed in the hopes that it has changed for the better, but I only find the same messed up system with a different interface.

Insanity = doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

Well, that’s exactly what’s being done here.

New players are being encouraged to rush

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Any veteran MMO player that is new to GW2 will instantly recognize that the game is actually worth taking at a slow pace instead of the fast pace that the mentors encourage.

However, it’s those who are new to MMOs that will most likely fall into the trap of farming, speed-running, and grinding. Otherwise, they are veteran MMO players that want to farm, speed-run, and grind.

To me, the quests in this game are really, really boring. I can’t really explain why. Maybe it’s the lack of NPC/Player interaction when starting a quest. Maybe it’s the lack of a decent reward for doing them. As a veteran MMO player myself, I’m used to receiving armor, gold, and other shinies from quests, but all I receive in GW2 is a measly amount of coins. Therefore, I find grinding more enjoyable than quests because the rewards are infinitely better. That’s just my opinion though.

Done. Oh and you’ve got dodges as well.. almost forgot….

Don’t forget flight.
Jump off a ledge and fly. Chill doesn’t slow you in the air. AND you escape combat.

I completely agree with your post and would like to add, dodging in 99% of what you need to not get rooted. On a quick berry run, there’s usually, maybe 2 spots I find myself stuck fighting. The rest of the time, you can dodge your way out of stopping for anything.

Heaven forbid we get “chilled” in the frozen tundra.

You need to sacrifice skills on your skill bar so you can avoid annoyances… and I don’t like that.

Perhaps I’m crazy, but the need to sacrifice one skill for another and balance out your build is part of game balance. Not having enough of that is part of what caused the zerker meta. If a boss could one-shot a warrior in full zerk and did that attack more often than one could possibly dodge or endure pain, you’d see toughness used as a stat more often. I’m not saying they should do this, I’m simply saying that I disagree. Giving us reason to leave an all-damage spec is absolutely crucial for good game balance.

Yes, I completely agree with you. My point is that CC in PvE is simply an annoyance and serves no other purpose other than to annoy. And if you want to avoid that annoyance, you need to sacrifice skills in order to do so. If CC actually made the game difficult, then I would be totally fine with sacrificing some skill slots to avoid it.

As it stands, CC does not make the game more difficult and literally only delays your travel time, which bugs the crap out of me.

Yeah, the CC is annoying as hell. To be honest, I think CC should be eliminated in PvE and only used in PvP. Quite literally, the only function of CC in PvE is to annoy the crap out of you.

If you ask yourself what CC adds to PvE, it doesn’t add anything except annoyance. No, it doesn’t increase the difficulty of the game. No, it doesn’t make it so you need to use strategy to overcome your enemy. You need to sacrifice skills on your skill bar so you can avoid annoyances… and I don’t like that.

Dueling in PVE?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Galtrix.7369

Galtrix.7369

Easy solution: Add a setting to automatically reject any and all duel requests.

Another easy solution: Restrict dueling to rural areas (anywhere but large cities).

Seriously, I don’t understand why there’s so much controversy surrounding this topic. If the above additions were added alongside dueling, it wouldn’t effect you in any way. It would give people the option to pass the time while waiting for an event or a dungeon to open instead of standing there and becoming bored.

Saying something is easy to add to a game shows that you don’t realise just how hard it is to add something to a game that was not intended in the first place. You only have to look at the problems the Devs ran in to trying to make the PS replay able, the same can be said for rave change, they are both things that have been asked for alot, way more than dueling, but are just not possible, as they where never intended to be done.

When ever anything new is added to a game you have to pray it will not brake anything too badly that it can not be fixed.

Or it means that I know how to program. Even completely starting from new and building code that would allow people to duel outside cities would take a minimal amount of time.

Making the PS replayable is another matter entirely. It affects more than just the PS itself. You would have to grant access to the PS anywhere, you would have to code the “teleportation into PS”, you would have to code the prerequisites for entering the PS…. that is difficult. Adding dueling is not.

So you’ve seen the game’s code? What’s your qualifications for being a programmer for a game? I know how to program. But I only took Computer Programming 1 and 2 in high school. I only know the basics and only in C++, which isn’t good enough for this game or any game made today.

And funny, I recall having to run to the location for LS2 to start it up despite it being replayable. I can’t just teleport into the missions located in Silverwastes from Lion’s Arch. That would be great. So it appears that you don’t know what you’re talking about. So I’m going to dismiss your claim that it’s easy to do because you have no idea how the replayable missions that we currently already have work.

I’m not talking about the Living Story, I’m talking about the personal story. If you’re not going to read what I write before arguing, your arguments don’t carry any weight. Second of all, I meant teleporting from the NPC to the PS, not that you can teleport to the PS from anywhere. I meant you could access the PS in a menu from anywhere.

The foundation for programming is already built. Literally all you would need to do is alter some code, add in a few conditional codes (if/then statements), and then make sure it runs smoothly with the other code. If the devs need to build a new code to add in duels, then it would take a little longer.

Why There Should Never Be Invuln in P. Story

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Invulnerability shouldn’t be part of any part of the game… in my opinion. It decreases the amount of strategy being used and replaces it with a strategy that encourages button mashing. Not to mention it’s a complete game-changer and it essentially makes the health bar a not-so-good indicator of how close you are to death, which is what health bars are made to do.

4000 gems = $50…..

Unlimited bank access would then cost $150 worth of gems! I’m sorry if this offends you, but if I saw these prices in the actual gem store, I would probably uninstall because I would realize the devs don’t know how to do their jobs.

Objection to your objection. Since you haven’t played WoW in awhile, I’ll update you. Upon logging into the game as a new player, you receive a shadow horse… which already disproves your point. There’s quite literally a plethora of various ways to earn mounts in WoW nowadays. Achievements, PvP, the in-game store, tournaments, quests, and heck, you can even craft some mounts. So, essentially, the guy above you was right. You earn mounts by playing the main story and completing your choice of any of the listed items above.

Here’s a list of all the mounts and my source: http://www.warcraftmounts.com/gallery.php

Your list of mounts is a list of all mounts, not a list of mounts by how they are obtained. It also includes mounts that are no longer obtainable (Gladiator mounts, launch swift mounts, AQ event mount).

Umm… click on the link and look directly to your left. You’ll see a list of “Mounts by Source”. Under that list are mounts that can be obtained through quests, the ingame store, raids, world events, and many other ways.

Yes, the general list of all mounts that I linked you to included mounts that have been removed from the game.

I’m happy that you’ve obtained over 200 mounts, but I pride myself on the fact that I nearly have all of the mounts. I’m currently sitting at 412 mounts, and if I’m correct, there are currently 425 mounts in-game. I did a fair amount of grinding for a few of them… I would say maybe 20 of them, but the rest I obtained simply by completing a few tasks — it really isn’t difficult.

Obtaining mounts does not require a ton of grinding.

Games like WoW and FF14 have grinds yes but not all their rewards require heavy grinds in fact you can get mounts and mini pets just for playing the main story through.

Objection, your honor. Mounts in WoW are primarily given out through reputations and RNG. Nearly anything outside of the limited selection immediately available to your race or faction requires a reputation ground to exalted (usually daily quest or strait up mob grind) plus a currency cost which may also require grinding, grinding a boss until RNG submits at droprates of less than 1%, or waiting at a spawn point until RNG decides it’ll spawn TLPD instead of Vyragosa and hoping you’re first to the target. The lion’s share of minipets are obtained through pokemon, which is a grind.

You could equate the mounts and minipets you get through story or leveling in WoW to the basic skins you get as common drops or from basic profession patterns in GW2. Very limited in number, scope, and look.

I collected mounts until WoD bored me out of WoW. I know the grind. I know it intimately. The end result wasn’t pride or joy, it was relief that the stupid thing finally dropped or when I no longer had to grind reputation.

(2) Economy

There’s also way, way, way too much stuff. Loads of junk, currencies, keys, low-value odds and ends that are somehow needed recipes and take up space in my inventory. Entire tiers of items that are functionally worthless. Sifting through rubbish takes up way too much time.

Oh, man! I completely forgot to complain about the amount of garbage/currencies in this game! Anet really needs to reduce the amount of currencies that have been implemented in the past. They improved the interface of the currencies, but you still have to sift quite a bit and it’s really an eye strain to look through every single currency to find the right one.

Also, the junk in this game is getting quite annoying. Since blues/greens are essentially worthless nowadays, they serve as more of a hindrance than a positive benefit. I literally have to sit down every half hour to sift through my inventory to delete blues/greens and other junk items that I randomly picked up. A lot of the time, I don’t have the patience to do it, and when faced with sifting through my inventory or logging out, 85% of the time I choose the latter.

You literally delete your blue/greens? For real?

I’m going to assume that anyone who is deleting loot doesn’t know this
- salvage kits have a ‘salvage all’ function now that shows up on right click
- the salvaged gear can be sent directly to your bank inventory mats panel using the icon on the right hand side of your inventory. Select: Deposit all materials.

That’s 2 clicks as opposed to individually deleting each item separately. When you get a stack of mats in your bank, pull them out and sell them. You’d be surprised at how much they’ll be worth.

I knew the first one, but the second one is news to me. I kind of always assumed that I could only use that function near a bank :/

Thanks for the info!

1. Very few in-game armor additions. Nearly all armor skins/outfits/toys are released through the gem-store and not through in-game quests/events. It’s quite dumb. An MMO is supposed to feel like a virtual, immersive world, but when you’re forced to whip out a wallet to buy armor, it breaks the world.

2. The game world feels ridiculously small. It’s never a good idea to implement an idea that makes your game world feel smaller. Waypoints allow you to travel much faster, but they also make it so that you don’t pay attention to beautiful landscapes by walking to your destination. There are also very obvious mountain ranges where the map gets cut off. I know there are limitations in this aspect of programming, however, the fact that you have to load the game again when you enter a new map is tedious and it makes the world feel closed off.

3. RNG is friggin everywhere. It’s truly sad that RNG has become the daily norm for MMOs. I’m okay with a small or even medium amount of RNG, but GW2 has taken it to the next level. Mystic fountain, BLC chests, ascended drops, precursor drops, material drops, etc… the RNG is ridiculously low on everything in this game. I feel as though this was a desperate attempt at holding the hardcore players in the game because they feel the need to complete everything the game has to offer. Yes, other MMOs have RNG, but at least you have a chance at getting a decent drop.

4. The content updates are less than thrilling. It seems as though Anet hasn’t quite figured out what they want to do with the game updates and are kind of feeling their way around. The content updates are super small and have grindy characteristics that make it so players stay there longer than needed — or wanted. I would rather have content updates every 5 or 6 months that are larger and are more thought-out than have small updates fairly often. And the landscapes of these new updates are mostly barren of any cool landmarks. There aren’t any extra castles that you can explore in your free time, there aren’t any catacombs that you can explore. It’s simply a barren wasteland with scattered rocks and stuff.

Pvp state as bad as ever

in PvP

Posted by: Galtrix.7369

Galtrix.7369

The thing I find funny the most is. That alot of people are expecting a PvE focused game to provide competitive eSports level sPvP matches, and a bunch of build diversity in PvP. Then the same guys can’t even provide build diversity in their favored PvE game mode ie. Raids and Fractals.

It’s honestly asking like asking a fast food restaurant to make you a high quality three course meal with dessert just because they sell food. It’s just not going to happen, same case here and most other PvE based games with PvP as a side project.

Honestly if you want quality based pvp then you have to go to the games that primarily focus on PvP. Other then that you and most of the posters on these forums about GW2’s PvP being kitten is completely a mute point and more then likely the devs care very little about PvP or WvW in their primarily PvE based game. You know the mode that they make the most money from(PvE).

Anet was the company with the idea of making sPvP and Esport. They essentially grabbed some doggy doo-doo from the front yard, put a couple candles in it, and called it a cake… according to your analogy.

Lol don’t twist my analogy with your’s just to try to make what ever point you are trying to make. I made sure to leave nothing to the imagination or anything up for translation.

My analogy and I’m quote myself.

“It’s honestly asking like asking a fast food restaurant to make you a high quality three course meal with dessert just because they sell food.”

I meant that and nothing else. I’m only a little bit sorry to burst your bubble but tell me it’s not true. And if you can somehow type that it’s not true. Then give a supporting argument as I have here.

ANet under different management at one point in the past may have been a PvP focused game company. But comparing GW2 to other PvE and PvP dev team ethics, and management practices. GW2 was and still is a primarily PvE game with sPvP and WvW as a side.

You don’t believe me? Then ask ANet why the PvP and WvW dev have little to no control over balance over their respected game modes, while the game gets balanced around Raids and such. Ask ANet why there are only one legit game mode(Conquest) in sPvP while PvE has a multitude of different huge maps, styles and content(World Bosses, Raids, Fractal, Guild Missions, and open world). Sounds pretty much heavily PvE focused to me.

Sorry, I should’ve gone into greater depth instead of leaving it at that.

If the game isn’t meant for PvP, why did Anet make it an Esport? It seems to me that if they wanted a game based around mostly PvE, they would have most definitely not made sPvP an Esport. The players definitely didn’t vote for it. That was all Anet.

If you’re under the impression that Anet’s not trying to make this game a balance of equality (PvE, PvP, WvW being equal), then you’re mistaken. How can I tell? They made sPvP an Esport. They’ve made a few maps for PvP and even added a new PvP mode since launch. If Anet wants to take the game up a notch by trying to compete with other MMOs, then the playerbase is going to make a mockery of the game when it doesn’t even come close to expectations.

I’m going to be completely honest here and say that the balance in this game is horrendous in all game modes.

Your analogy still stands, but it’s entirely the fault of Anet that they’re trying to sell a 3-course meal when all they have is regular fast food. They should’ve just apologized and said, “We sell fast food, dummy, not a 3-course meal”.

I haven’t looked at the video and I won’t because it’s probably just another evade spam condi thief. It’s by far the cheapest build in the game, but it’s far from the best. It’s OP, but whatever counters it does have are extremely powerful against it. They have poor mobility, their dodge conditions are projectiles, though reflections don’t work because they’re still evading at the same time, so any projectile protecting skills will help. They are easily blocked and dodged, and a well timed interrupt or burst can make them run because they’re squishy against power damage. If you’re fighting alone and you can manage to get a well timed condi bomb against them, stop attacking and they’ll have nothing to evade to remove the condis. The build only has a few counters but those counters are abundant and powerful, which is why you’ll never see a top tier team running it without a real good reason, a reason which probably doesn’t exist.

lol its worst than condi evade thief, its a evade thief w/o condi -_-

And there’s no counter to a pure evade thief. The build was made to stop opponents from capturing points, but the build can’t be used to fight at all. This is why GW2 PvP is garbage.

Hands up anyone who has a full set?

Nobody?

QED

Put another way, if nobody ever has these, there’s no point in having them in-game. Of the few people that may get them, even fewer would wear them because they have their own skins that they like. Players wouldn’t even see them in the game let alone have them. It’s a waste of developer effort to develop a skin that nobody ever sees.

The entire Achievement Reward system is supposed to be an incentive for however long the game lasts. There are MMOs that last 10 years and are still going. There is no reason to believe that anyone was supposed to get everything yet. In a year or two more and more long-term players will have full sets. Then people will be complaining that they are too common.

Except the number of long-term players doesn’t equate to the number of people with a high amount of achievement points. I’ve been playing for a very long time and I only have 5k achievement points. There are very few people with more than 25k AP and once Anet realizes that less than 5% of the population is ever going to acquire these skins, they’ll probably scramble to change it.

Unless that was their intent.

I’d be fine with that if the acquisition of the armor pieces made sense… but it doesn’t. You get two pairs of gloves and the shoulders way before you get anything else. And the weapons become more of an annoyance than anything. I must’ve received around 5 or 6 of those stupid weapon skins. The achievement rewards just lack any sort of polish, leading people to quit going after achievements long before they even get those rewards. Kids could develop a better reward system.

That could be their intent as well otherwise the full armor set would be much more common. If someone only needed to earn 18K achievement points, how many more players would have it?

That would be true if they made it available at 18k points, but I would have implemented other rewards that lead up to the acquisition of the armor at 30k achievement points. So, it would still take a decent amount of achievement points to acquire, but there would at least be a very clear and direct path to getting them.

If I really, really, really enjoy my new class and have vacation, I manage world completion in about 7 days. If not, let’s say 2 – 3 weeks. It is my goal for all of my characters like in GW 1. I do not want to make people waiting for me, because I do not have the necessary Waypoints. All of my characters should be ready to call for every task, this also includes maps like Silverwastes, Southsun Cove or Ember Bay.
Because I have 1 character for each class and every way to play (Direct Damage, Condition Damage, Support, …), I have a lot of characters available. As I said: This is my main goal for the game. Therefore, I do not have one single Legendary Weapon for example. And of course: There are more players like me. I saw someone with 4 or 5 more world completions in LA.

Mensch. Wie macht man das denn? Ich spiele schon seit 3 Jahren und habe nur 62% World Completion.

That’s flipping insane that people can speed run and complete world exploration within weeks. I guess I have to completely dedicate myself specifically to exploring the world in order to do it though.

Crafting and Loot Drop systems seem to clash

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Except for the fact that it will take you years to acquire ascended gear in any way other than crafting. I’ve been playing for 3 years and I’ve literally had a single ascended drop.

So, in this way, we don’t really have the choice not to craft if we want ascended gear. Crafting is the only surefire way to acquire it. Please don’t tell me that we have multiple other options, because we simply don’t.

3 years and a single ascended drop means you don’t do Fractals. I refuse to believe your RNG is so bad that you haven’t had more drops in all that time. Trust me, next to crafting, Fractals is the best way to acquire ascended gear. I have 9 ascended characters and 10 sets of ascended gear (that’s full ascended gear, so armor, weapons and trinkets). Only 3 armor sets were crafted (for the Ascended Accoutrement achievement), the rest is obtained during a period of 4 to 5 months of daily (high level) Fractals. I crafted some weapons but most were also drops. And I’ve some drops outside of Fractals, though I admit that this last option is too rare to build up one or more full ascended gear sets. You do have choices, but that’s not to say anything will drop anywhere at any time.

Yeah, I refuse to believe it too! I’m all the way up to level 82 Fractals and I’ve only gotten that one ascended drop (from fractals, coincidentally). I heavily considered contacting Anet and telling them that my account is bugged with an RNG from hell. I even have 93% MF.

I suppose I assumed that this was normal to acquire only one ascended drop in this amount of time and that everyone had the same luck as me…. but I suppose that’s not the case. So, fractals and crafting are the options.

Crafting and Loot Drop systems seem to clash

As Khisanth said they included many ways to achieve the same goal so that players can choose how they want to do it.

In most cases I use drops and story or level-up rewards until a characters gets to level 80 then use Karma or WvW Badges to buy a set of level 80 exotics for them to use. Other people prefer to buy it from the TP, or with dungeon tokens, or to always craft their own gear (I don’t think anyone uses mainly dropped gear, because it’s too unreliable, but I could be wrong).

Of course there are exceptions. I had to craft equipment for my elementalist because I wanted her to use celestial stats and those aren’t available any other way. But in most cases it’s up to the player how they want to pursue their goals and that to me is both more convenient and more realistic.

I don’t see how this is confusing, unless someone doesn’t have much experience with role-playing games. As far as I remember (and I’ve been playing them since the early 90s) they’ve always included at least 2 options – buy from merchants or get it as drops. Until recently (games like Skyrim and Dragon Age Inquisition) crafting wasn’t an option, except in MMOs and then it was often a big commitment because you couldn’t max out your crafting skills and your combat skills, so it was something only certain people did. But it’s been in pen and paper RPGs for decades.

Those things are not in competition with each other. It’s all part of the “get it however you want” thing even if they haven’t really embraced that anymore.

My opinion is because I think they’re not embracing any particular method and I don’t know the direction that arenanet is pursuing with this game.

Most likely there is a limit to how long they could embrace a eclectic approach to game design and game play before continuing it became less possible.

I wish they’d pick a direction that’s more consistent with role playing because when I buy a roll playing game I very much wish to roleplay.

The direction they’re taking is the same one they’ve always had – giving players choices. This is never going to be the sort of game that tells you “if you want the best possible equipment then you must complete this 1 dungeon because that’s the only place it’s available”, they’re always going to have options. We’ve been told this since long before the game came out.

I don’t know why you think it’d be impossible to keep it going. Sure it’s a bit more work to create a crafting recipe for a new stat combination or skin as well as adding it to a drop table and/or merchant but they don’t seem to have had any trouble with it so far.

And I’m not sure what you mean by “a direction that’s more consistent with role playing”. To me that means offering lots of different choices so they’re not forcing all of our characters to be the same and we can choose what’s best for them (or us). My elementalist takes great pride in having crafted all her own equipment (except her daggers which a friend, my thief, made for her). My ranger thinks that’s pointless – it doesn’t matter how you get it, what matters is that it does the job. She made her own coat because it was the only way to get the style she wanted, but she found her gloves and boots and bought the rest (although I think in lore things bought with karma are given to you as thanks for your actions). If they both had to use the same method that would inhibit my role playing.

Danikat wins this thread. Explained perfectly.

Just add it already…

As has already been mentioned countless times, raiders and elitists already find ways to exclude non-meta-conforming players from raids. “Post your API. If you don’t, you’re not allowed to raid with us”.

It would make it infinitely faster if we had an “inspect player” option so this process would go a lot faster.

I don’t see a single difference that adding an “inspect player” option would make, except for positive aspects. L2P MMOs guys.

NO THANKS. WHY DON’T YOU LEARN TO GW2?

I’d rather have you list reasons why the “inspect player” option is bad than simply reply to the sarcastic portion of my post.

If you can list some reasons why it’s bad, that’d be great.

No. This thread has been done time and and time and time again in the last 4 years if you want to look them up go ahead. Most people you will find are against it.

Hah, that made me laugh… thanks.

You people can’t give me a single argument as to my original statement. Why, if elitists and raiders can already look up your API and REQUIRE it, do you feel the need to fight against an “inspect player” option? You’re effectively fighting against something that has no negative effect on you.

Money and dev resources spent on something that players can already do for themselves is not spent on other things. Asking Anet to delay other things in development so that the OP can press one set of keys to inspect another player instead of pressing a different set of keys does impact, potentially, every player.

Thank you! I appreciate the response, and that’s a valid concern.

However, do you know for sure that implementing this qol update would delay other projects/updates? I’m unaware as to if Anet has employees that work solely on qol updates or what part of their team works on qol aspects.

I agree completely.

Some people discover the “meta” on their own and they invest thousands of gold in making their build the most viable it can be. It can be devastating to invest that much and then have it ruined in one swift patch…. especially if your build is no longer even half-decent.

True, no MMO has perfectly balanced classes. However, the balance gap in GW2 is by far one of the largest I’ve seen in an MMO. Simply google “Class damage” to find out what I mean. As a mesmer, I try to buff my utility skills up as much as possible… and when a nerf comes along that destroys that, then I’m out of luck because I do no damage without them.

Galtrix.7369

Let me give you a reason why Anet won’t do that:

1600 gems = $20

One pair of wings costs 700 gems.

700 gems = $8.75

I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t pay $8.75 for one pair of silly wings. Having gems in the place of actual money eliminates the feeling that, “Oh I’m spending a crapton of money just for this one little thing”. Spending 700 gems instead of $8.75 suddenly feels like I’m being less ripped-off. It’s a psychological phenomenon that quite a few businesses have figured out, by the looks of things. A lot of people won’t take the time out of their day to do some simple math and find out that they’re actually spending a ton of money on single items. All things considered, the items in the gemstore still aren’t nearly as expensive as the items in the WoW-shop.

Yes, the rewards in the game are very good at this point in time. However, it takes a lot of time to accrue enough gold to buy something simple on the gemstore. It generally takes me 4-10 AB meta-events before I am able to buy something simple from the gemstore. True, others have a lot more time than I do, but a lot of people don’t and so they decide to simply buy gems.

The reason DH’s are so powerful is because of their traps. If you’ve noticed, every other class has skills that are high in utility, but extremely low on damage. However, traps have very good damage and decent utility (some traps pull the enemy, stun them, pile on conditions).

In order to survive, many other classes need to also sacrifice one or two skill slots for defensive skills while DH’s do not. They get a lot more damage and quite a bit of utility.

Which is kinda sad really. They’re killing the one true support class in the game, and for what?

They easily could’ve added a dps elite spec that is on par with other dps classes come next expansion and left chronomancer alone as a pure, great support spec for those of us who enjoy that more than “MAX DEEPZ”. Instead of neutering it.

I agree. I did thoroughly enjoy the support that mesmers brought to the table, but it’s kind of pointless post-patch.

-They’re most definitely still viable in fractals.
-They will still be sought after in raids because they can tank and provide enough boons.
-They’re still viable in WvW. Every class is viable in this game mode where you run around in a massive zerg.

As a revenant, I do think they basically killed off a significant portion of what the class had to offer. Maybe Anet didn’t intend the class to be a boon-hoarder shrug. I’m not too happy with the changes they made to this class, but we’ll see where it goes from here.

The prices are extremely weird. At first, things cost a few cobs. Then around 10 cobs. This year? 100+ cobs. That’s pretty significant.

Honestly, not everyone has a spare two hours to wait for diminishing returns to kick in for another hour of running the lab. Some people put kids to bed and have two hours to do event stuff. I guess we should quit expecting festivals to be for fun.

This is a direct result of people who hoard candy corn all year and can afford to have dozens of cobs worth of candy corn before the halloween event even starts. They complain about nothing to work towards and ANet listens to them by increasnig the price of everything. Its not the best strategy, but at least there is a decent-ish amount of variety in the prices this year.

So, since a minority hoard candy corn for the entire year, Anet correspondingly increased the candy corn requirement for the majority? Sounds like the worst move I’ve ever seen.

Why should there be a need to choose between them when they should both be worked on? F2P games can do both at the same time.

Someone already answered this above- they’re working on the next expansion, too. I think you’re grossly underestimating the amount of effort it takes to maintain a game, plus create new live content (not just the LS3 maps, but the smaller event chains and things they’ve added over the past few months) AND new content for an EP.

Plus, I think they’ve mentioned before that some of the season one stuff isn’t easy to bring up to the new code. I would give anything to have the PvP games from the first Halloween back, but it is what it is. I trust that they’re not withholding things from us because they’re mean or lazy.

I’m a programmer myself, so I can estimate with a certain accuracy how long something should take to develop. I don’t think I’m grossly underestimating the effort that it takes to do both at the same time.

Anet has previously mentioned that armor sets take about 8 months to develop, and that is very, very suspicious to me. It may be something that’s completely unique to GW2 that makes it difficult to develop items/quests/armor/etc., but it shouldn’t take a massive amount of effort to create new holiday events.
