[Suggestions] Gemstore Items

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Galtrix.7369

Umm, you’re going to be hard pressed to convince Anet to put more items into the gemstore that aren’t RNG. I don’t think you people realize that Anet is making more money with RNG than they have just putting skins into the store. People buy the RNG boxes, don’t get what they want, and they instantly buy more so that they will get what they want. (Which almost never happens.) If Anet puts skins in the store, people will buy them and there won’t be that continuous cycle of endless buying and the torment of opening a box only to find that there was a bunch of useless items inside. Anet will essentially lose a lot of money if they put skins in the store that aren’t rng. But if Anet does actually listen to us, I would like to see better weapons/armor skins in the gemstore that look much better than what they currently have.

Oh, I remember this. I played WoW for a really long time, so I started to yell in chat that I was looking for a group for a dungeon, like you’re supposed to do in WoW, and I got the message suppressed. Needless to say, I was a little shocked and angry that it prohibited me from finding a group, until I found GW2LFG.

My server is nearly dead as well. I rarely see anyone on Gate of Madness, because people started quitting GW2 left and right on my server. I’d be lucky to see two people in 5 hours nowadays. I swear, the entire server must have had a meeting and decided to quit GW2 right then and there and I wasn’t invited.

One build, one class

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Galtrix.7369

Galtrix.7369

I agree. It seems as if 90% of people switch to the build they see works best and they don’t try experimenting with the traits and skills themselves. This would be okay with me, but it gets bland seeing a bunch of one class using the same weapons. The D/D Elementalist was one example. A guy made a video on a fantastic build and all Elementalists flocked to D/D while using the same build as he did. And Blizzard actually did a heck of a job balancing their classes. Other people may not think so, but a tanky warrior was just as likely to beat a dps druid as the other way around. There were rarely “Overpowered” classes/skills/armor that tipped the scale in someone’s favor, and I rarely saw people complain about unbalanced classes in WoW. Sure, there were a few whiners, but GW2 seems to have a lot more whiners, and for good reason.

Yeah, no more progression since I hit 80 and got all exotic armor. I don’t even want to try getting ascended gear, since it’s utterly pointless. I have the same feeling with the legendary weapons. I’ve been playing WoW, Rift, and some other games until Guild Wars 2 actually gets better… which it probably won’t anytime soon. I realized that I was actually sad while playing Guild Wars 2 because I didn’t have any feeling of real accomplishment at all. Switching from GW2 to other games was the best decision ever and it made me happy.

Anet would sooner donate all the money they made to Blizzard Entertainment than tell us the drop rates. Another post a friend of mine made was asking Anet to post drop rates and chances of receiving things, and a mod came on and infracted his post.

But, to answer your question, no. The account has nothing to do with what drops you get. At least, that’s what Anet says. At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if they came out and told us the chance for exo’s is different for different accounts

Only a month? Lucky. I haven’t gotten an exotic drop since GW came out. I have over 3000 hours spent on this game, yet I haven’t received any exotics. I run at least 4 dungeons daily with massive magic find, yet, nothing. Count yourself lucky that you actually got to see an exotic in your lifetime. I have NEVER played an mmorpg where the last armor was this difficult to find. Anet needs to fix the drop rates on exotic gear before I quit within the next few days.

How did Vayne’s post get infracted? Vayne actually has a very valid point here. Wanting to know the chances of getting what you’re buying the box for is fair. If someone came up to me with a box and said, “There’s a million dollars in this box, and you can have it if you guess the number in my head. But, there’s no number range I can give you so you don’t know what the chances are of getting it.”, I’d probably guess a number and then punch them in the face. The mere fact that Anet doesn’t want people to know the real chances of getting items makes me believe that Anet is doing this for profit and nothing more. Yeah, I completely see where Guild Wars 2 is going. Bye Bye Guild Wars 2 and any further Anet products for the rest of my life.

4) Craft some pretty shoes for my Elementalist. My boots were eaten by a karka.
5) Do some dungeon speed runs.
6) Oh, hey! You’re level 80.
7) Do some dungeons for cool armor. (CoF)
This is pretty much what I did to hit 80 in about 6 days. The funny thing was, I didn’t realize that I was hardcore leveling at the time because I focused on the quest stories and was just enjoying the time I spent on the quests and dungeons. I would literally sit for hours and began to realize I was spending like 16 hours a day just leveling. So the ultimate secret to leveling is to have no life outside video games at all.

GW1 vs GW2: Pros and Cons

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Galtrix.7369

Galtrix.7369

There are many, many things that I consider better in Guild Wars 1 than in Guild Wars 2. The community, first of all, was much more interactive and polite when trading, talking, or recruiting for guilds in Guild Wars 1. Comparing the two games, Gw1 had a lot more communication between players because communication was needed to trade items. Another aspect of GW1 was the fact that all the classes were balanced nicely. Classes weren’t being smacked with the nerf hammer every few weeks, or even months, but in GW2, it feels like my Ele gets stealth nerfed every week. The only positive thing I like about GW2 compared to GW1 is the pvp. The pvp seems more alive and something could happen at any moment that could shift the game into a team’s favor. Like mage said, I could continue on and on with how Guild Wars 1 was better than Guild Wars 2, but I’m afraid I’ll get chastised.

More updates than MMOs with Subs?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Galtrix.7369

Most of the updates were definitely pointless. Blizzard had countless updates and tweaks to the game every day. But, WoW also had about 4 times the content that Guild Wars 2 has at the moment, so I found myself happy with the amount of content I could complete until an expansion came out. In other words, I didn’t need the constant updates that GW2 has to do constantly when I was playing WoW. So GW2 has a lot more updates than WoW, but WoW’s updates were better, with less bugs.

Elementalist if you enjoy massive damage that destroys everything in your path, but is weak beyond comprehension when it comes to armor. I may be biased, because I have an 80 Elementalist that I love. I find absolutely no faults with the staff elementalist in PvE. Decent survivability with massive damage is the perfect combination.

Guardian if you enjoy decent damage and awesome survivability along with support skills for running dungeons/events/PvP. Guardians are pretty much the strongest class in the game, but are boring. So so so boring.

Thief if you enjoy being sneaky and doing some decent damage at melee range, but the armor is also incredibly squishy. What I don’t like about the thief is that it lacks stun skills, which I feel like a thief would definitely have in their arsenal. Maybe WoW placed that idea in my head with rogues, but a thief without stun skills is like a guitar player without a guitar in my opinion.

gw2 is not balanced for 1 vs 1

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Galtrix.7369

Galtrix.7369

Seeing as how many different classes revolve around support of other classes, I agree that Guild Wars 2 is not balanced enough for 1vs1. I mean, an Elementalist would completely destroy a ranger or a warrior from far range because they can’t compete with the damage of the elementalist. Instead, they rely heavily on stuns, stomps, and bleed effects which have no effect on elementalists from a range. I have tested this. In regular Spvp, I get destroyed by warriors because even an aoe that gets aimed at another character and accidentally hits me, I get slowed/stunned/crippled and then the warrior can rush in at me to stun me and beat me down. This is completely different because I could have easily taken him down because of my massive damage and range, but because of the advantage of the cripple, the warrior could rush me. So I really don’t think GW2 is made for 1vs1.

trying to make money farming

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Galtrix.7369

Ya how dare they fix that exploited event! Grab the pitchforks and torches!

You obviously do not know the whole story. They did more than just fix the event. They decreased the loot rate and made it so one type of mob doesn’t drop anything at all. So even if you wanted to do the event the “right” way…you are going to get a lot less loot.

And then they opened up an island, added farmable events, added a buff that gives you 200% magic find in its place.

kitten them!

And yet I still only loot blues and greens all day long in Southsun. If I can’t get a few rares every few hours with 200%+ magic find, then what person in their right mind would farm anywhere anymore? It’s to the point now where WoW has better drop rates than Gw2, and I remember a certain quest in WoW that the required item’s drop rate was less than 3%. I looted that item three times in 4 hours, and I feel like I’d rather have that drop rate than Gw2’s drop rates. If you can explain why you think the drop rates in Gw2 are fine, then please do. I can always refute with the thousands of opinions similar to mine that think the drop rates are beyond horrid.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Galtrix.7369

I actually think perma death would work for Guild Wars 2. I, for one, would enjoy receiving a lot more loot in return for my hard work in a hardcore mode. Anet would have to buff up a lot of the classes like the Ranger and the Necro so they could actually survive more than one hit though. So I don’t think it’s likely that a hardcore system would be implemented because everyone would just roll a guardian and be making some bank while destroying everything.

My thoughts about GW2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Galtrix.7369

Every update has had a significant amount of new PvE content. As a PvP player primarily I feel a little ripped off (No duels, arenas, or different types of SPvP). As a PvE player you guys really have nothing to complain about though, everything is great besides the lack of raids.

New PvE content to an extent. I feel like, when I get the best armor I can possibly get along with amulets and a weapon, I am done with PvE for good. I honestly see no point whatsoever in continuing to run dungeons, do events, or participate in any party runs because I have everything I need. It’s at these times that I start to feel that inevitable pull towards PvP…. and I have to reprimand myself because I hate Guild Wars 2 PvP with a passion. Maybe I’m the only one that feels this way, but I feel like all I’m doing is running dungeons and doing events constantly. Every once in awhile, Anet implements the temporary events that give me joy for, oh, about 10 minutes. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I actually miss the never-ending gear search that WoW brought to mmo’s. It gave me something to look forward to, while at the same time, getting me a decent amount of money, armor, and a constant improvement to my characters. That’s where Guild Wars 2 lacks in PvE. I can’t consistently improve my characters without being nerfed or with the downside being that the build I created sucked beyond belief. PvE may get some updates, but it’s still nowhere up to par with where the PvP is.

Guild Wars 2 not doing well, True or False?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Galtrix.7369

Galtrix.7369

No GW2 is not doing well at all…it is dying.

Don’t let these whiteknights argue and tell you otherwise because all they are doing is trying to convince themselves.

If you want to see it for yourself just log in and look at the population declining before your very eyes…

Who are you going to believe, the ‘Full’ status markers, the getting kicked into overflow trying to visit Southsun, the fact that only now nine months later has Anet reduced the box cost, or the desperate trolls of the First Name Only Haters Club?

I’m going to believe 200+ players offline for months in my ex guild(s), i’m going to belive no queue in wvw (except prime time, but even then outmanned or close to it on 2 border, t2 server) while 4-5 months ago it was min 1h queue on every border, i’m going to believe biggest spvp tournament with 4k views with is joke comparing to gw1.

First of all, the players do not decide where they get to go. Southsun is a perfect example of Anet funneling all the players in Guild Wars to one location to make it seem like there are more players than there actually are, so it’s really Anet deciding where the players will go. Secondly, you really believe the “full” markers? Have you walked around any maps recently? You’ll see two people in like 5 hours. Lastly, I’ve switched guilds multiple times because they’ve all gone over to other mmorpgs, and there were 400+ people in each of those guilds. 30 people were leftover when everyone went back to WoW and Neverwinter. The lack of permanent content and lack of actual accomplishment finally got to people I guess. I know for me the big part of an mmorpg is forever getting better by gaining new armor/weapons/money. Anet has taken every single one of those things away with this game and most people don’t like that. New armor, weapons, and easier money can easily improve this game.

My experience and so many others that I know (most of which I do not play with, nor on the same servers) have the exact opposite of you. Everywhere I go I see a crap ton of players, and this is on any maps from at least level 1-65, never being at an event without it being a zerg. In a guild with 200+ active people out of the 230 on our roster, have a co worker who is in a guild with 1100 people, with a 75% active rate.

In other words, you people need to quit using your own personal experience as “proof” because there are going to be plenty of people with the exact opposite of you.

Seeing as how the max amount of members in a guild is 500, I’ll assume you’re either ignorant or trolling. 75% active rate? Please. Even the strongest guild on my server couldn’t hit a 75% activity rate among its members, and they kick inactive members monthly. Plus they had about 500 members. I think the largest amount of members on at one time was 70% on a Saturday. A 75% activity rate with 1100 members would be nearly impossible. Other than that, I do not disagree that there are “some” servers that have a lot more people than my server. Every server I have guested on, which was almost all of them, has had the same amount of people that my server had. If your server was one of the few I didn’t guest to, I apologize, but it seems as though you are exaggerating to prove a point. And when you’ve played as long and as hard as I have, “Personal Experience” is as good as cold hard evidence. When I created my character, there were tons of people everywhere I went. Fast forward 9 months later…. and I don’t see anyone anymore except in LA and at the events that Anet gives. Ask around, you’ll find that many players on various servers don’t see anyone. Ever.

How to attract more players

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Galtrix.7369

I’m a hero, I help tyrians and save the world.
That’s why I bought Gw2.

I didn’t buy Gw2 so I could keg brawl or crab toss or do jumping puzzles.
Not that those aren’t fun, but they’re not the core of the game!
If I wanted to do those things… I’d go play Frisbee or hot potato? I wouldn’t have bought Gw2 to do that.

I know a lot of players like mini games, I liked the seasonal mini games Gw1 had.
But minigames should not be what gives substance to a game, a game is what should give substance to a game!

I mean, think of final fantasy 7, what you’re suggesting is instead of adding more story, they should add more mini games like the squatting one, chocobo racing, crazy motorcycle….

(Hmm… ok… I might like the squatting mini game if it’s a cute Cloud doing it… but there’s no cute Cloud in Gw2!)

That doesn’t make any sense. I don’t see how that should be a priority. It’s as if you’re suggesting Gw2 is so bad, it’s only saving grace is mini-games instead of the game itself. In that case, wouldn’t it be better to improve the game itself?

In WoW I remember seeing mini-games and special events every few days, which made the world seem more expansive and full of surprises. What I’m saying is, just the mere presence of mini-games, events, raids, and holidays made it a lot more exciting to walk through the world, even if I didn’t actually participate in any of the events. A big bonus is that, if you did participate in some events, the events gave rewards that benefited the player throughout their time when they were logged on, even if I traveled somewhere else I could still use the items (Items being food, costumes, money, mounts). Those items were relatively easy to get. This is an area that Guild Wars 2 is seriously lacking in. When I log into GW2 and go to an event, I get the joy of receiving one or two items that last me like 2 minutes. If I really want a good event item, I spend countless hours to get ONE of the things that maybe make my character look cool. That’s it. I get to look cool in GW2. Yay. Afterward, I feel drained of energy instead of excited to go out and explore or do some dungeons alongside my new pet. Again, even if you don’t participate in the events, it still makes the game seem more alive when you see tons of people with new items that you desperately want all completing one event.

Pfft all the time! In fact, Southsun Cove (the latest content patch) is in a constant state of overflow. Multiple overflows.

Lol before TC went back into full state, I was in 9 overflows back to back :P Was like the twilight zone.

I mean have you seen players in places other than the places that Anet funnels players into? Players don’t really decide where they go, Anet does. Try going to any other map and you won’t see more than 1 person. Because of what Anet is doing (Funneling players into maps for achievements or rewards), they’re essentially screwing over the rest of the world. Think about your comment for a second. Of course if Anet packs multiple events into one place, all of the players will flock there almost instantaneously. That obviously does not count.

I completely agree. I think those numbers are made up so new players believe they’re playing an ultra popular game. My server says “Very High” all the time, yet I see maybe 3 players when I roam around the world for 3 hours. 10 players if I visit LA. Apparently nobody hangs out in the minor cities, because I didn’t see a single person in The Grove, Divinity’s Reach, or Rata Sum. People who’ve played WoW, like myself, come to Guild Wars 2 and find that the staff models have taken a huge turn for the worst. I never had a problem with bland looking armor in any other mmorpgs, but then I come to Guild Wars 1 and 2, and they’re all boring. The only exciting armor is the CoF armor, and there are maybe 1 or 2 cool staff models that I kind of like, so I know where you’re coming from. I guess that people that have never played mmorpgs before have not seen really cool looking armor, so they seem to think of the guild wars armor as “cool”. That’s what I think anyway. And I also think Anet should look at Wow’s armor and develop stuff like that… I think that would improve the playerbase a lot.

Guild Wars 1 players were familiar with the cash shop for items that don’t affect power or pvp, and when Guild Wars 2 added the diamond/gold trade, most Guild Wars 1 players were smart enough to see the direction that Guild Wars 2 was going to take, which is removing pretty much all sources of easy income so most people will just buy diamonds and switch them to gold. At the moment that Anet started slowly decreasing the drop rate on good items, most players from Guild Wars 1 left, including myself. So, in short, Anet wants you to spend money to get fake money, to increase your satisfaction in a fake game. Hope that answers your question.

Nope.

You have the option to legitimately (as opposed to illegitimately, as many gamers do) buy fake money with real money to increase your monetary needs and satisfaction in game.

Doing this get’s you $$$ in game, or else skins, novelty items, and various temporary boosts akin to food buffs, which you can make for free.

Moreover, the food buffs tend to be better. That’s by design.

GW2 isn’t P2W. The person who chooses to use gems simply get’s the means to the end faster then the one who chooses to work for it in game for free.

There’s no latent advantage present in getting there faster if once everyone arrives there, you’re all on equal footing.

Arriving “there” at the end game is a casual friendly experience, to the degree that many ‘hardcore’ players complain about that (as they do everything else).

The only honest grind in the game is there by design, and you get nothing for it beyond a pretty skin with particle effects and bragging rights.

There is no preferential treatment for the person who uses gems, beyond the convenience the purchase gives them.

Maybe the warm fuzzy feeling that you’re helping support a game you enjoy enough to spend additional income on then is necessary.

Absent a farm or grind to blame things on, forum begins arguing RNG isn’t fair because chaos is chaos and randomness is a player hater.

Except when it’s not. But kitten it all, make it better!

I agree, it’s definitely not P2W…. yet. But apparently you haven’t experienced the massive lack of drops in certain areas and you haven’t seen the posts about Southsun that say Anet is basically funneling players into it, which is most certainly true. Dailies push you there, you can basically either farm CoF or Southsun and most people prefer Southsun, and to get the new backpiece requires a bunch of Southsun achievements. If you don’t do CoF part 1 or go to Southsun, you’re out of options for money making. People will eventually get bored of farming Southsun and CoF and will just buy Diamonds for a quick gold gain. This is pretty much Anet’s goal, and a lot of people are just leaving or giving in to the diamond buying.

Half my guild just left this game at the same time because they got bored of getting no loot and having nothing better to do. One of the members of the guild got about 200 people together to discuss where the future of this game might go, and they all decided to leave for WoW and other mmorpgs, so they said their goodbyes and just left. That’s the direction Anet is going, so good luck.

This Game is Still New..

First of all, it is not new. Second of all, and yes I am comparing this to WoW, Guild Wars 2 has at least 1000 times the amount of bugs/unhappy players/nerfs/unbalanced classes that WoW had akittens 8 month period. I think I only saw 3 or 4 bugs while I leveled to 90 in WoW, and they didn’t affect the gameplay much at all. However, I’ve been through at least 60+ glitches while leveling to 80, and that’s being nice, the number was probably an upwards of 100+. Again, for WoW, my class (Paladin) was nerfed exactly 3 times in 3 years and it was only because I could take on 5 or 6 players in pvp easily. Guild Wars 2: my elementalist has been nerfed countless times, and I’m tired of it. I’ve never been nerfed to the point that my character might become extinct, but Guild Wars 2 is heading for that direction. I’ve never been nerfed and lacked money as much in any mmo besides this game, and now that Anet has basically nerfed farming to the point of extinction, I can’t possibly hope to buy anything I need. I’m guessing 40% of the playerbase just went back to WoW or some other mmo. I suggest you people that received nerfs do so as well.

Coming back to GW2

The OP asked if it was worth coming back. If nothing has changed since he decided to quit, why blow smoke up his kitten and tell him to come back?

You missed the OTHER responses, the ones that kiss ANet’s butt:

- OMG, YES! This game is amazing!
- OMG, YES! Don’t mind the grind!
- OMG, YES! Everything wrong with the game is present in every OTHER game, so you should just suck it up and LOVE it!

OP: it should take you about 10 minutes to sign on and see if you want to waste your time with it. Give it a shot and make your OWN determination.

Yes there were a few overly ‘love love love’ but they are far, far outweighed by the ‘this game is dying’ ‘if you play x class dont bother’ crap.

The game is not ‘dying’. Yes, some zones aren’t jam packed with people. Yes, some servers seem to have less population. Yes, most people are trying out the new content so the majority of the player base can be found there. My point was that there are very few mid-range HELPFUL responses to threads like this. Generally speaking its either gloom and doom (which is usually the majority) or rainbows and lollipops. When the fact is that the OP could totally disagree with either spectrum, but he won’t know unless he opts to try it. The most helpful responses are ‘here are the changes, make your own decision’ which [if you look] most (probably 90%) of these are not, which was my whole point.

I do agree with you that he should sign on, play for a bit and evaluate himself. That’s the only way he’s going to get a clear picture of whether he’s going to enjoy it or not. However if he takes any of the majority of the comments here, well, he may as well go fishing.

Mm, I’ll have to disagree with you. The game is dying. It’s just dying at a snail’s pace with more people leaving than people joining. Most level 80’s, including myself, saw that there was no point in continuing to play after the player got the strongest gear in the game. Some players will come back for the temporary events, but rarely do they stay on for more than a day or two because they remembered why they left. Other than that, I agree with everything else you said. You have to play for yourself to see if you like the direction the game is taking. Right now, it seems like Anet is slowly, very very slowly, edging its way to the “pay to enjoy” type of game. With the last event, Southsun, there were two options to get a Southsun weapon skin: Grind, or buy it with gems. I stopped trying to persuade people to leave while they had the chance, so I’m just going to say: watch the gem store closely. See what types of items Anet implements and watch your desire for those items rise. Those items will not be available anywhere except the gem store.

Yeah, I’ve been feeling like this lately too. I rarely see anyone anymore unless I go directly to Lion’s Arch. Even the minor cities (Divinity’s Reach, The Grove, Rata Sum for example) are almost completely empty 100% of the time. My server says busy all the time, but again, I rarely see anyone ever. Gate of Madness is the server I’m on.

No, you’re definitely not the only one. It made me extremely angry when I was trying to get my last event complete for Southsun and I disconnected near the end of every event. It took 6 hours for me to complete a single event.

Non-instigator events stalling

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Galtrix.7369

I agree. The incessant glitching of events makes it inconvenient for everyone in Southsun, especially when they’re trying to get the 25 achievement points in a day or so. I had a terrible luck streak today. I was at 24 out of 25 achievement points and I only needed to complete 1 event. It took 6 hours to finally complete it. Why? All of the events stalled. When I finally found an event, it was a patrol event, and right as we reached the end…. I disconnected. This happened with almost every event that I DID find, and if I didn’t disconnect, I forgot to talk to the Negotiators so I can get the achievement. Still, even without all of the extra disconnects and excessive forgetfulness, I still would have been in Southsun for a good 4 hours.

How GW2 is NOT casual.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Galtrix.7369

People forget what the definition of casual actually is. Relaxed and unconcerned. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I feel obligated to participate in dungeons to earn as much money as people that play for 10 hours a day and I DO NOT get the “relaxed” feeling when I have to play for 3 hours or more to actually accomplish something. I have not seen Anet implement a single casual activity to do since the game was released. FoTM, Guild Missions, Ascended gear, all of those things are for hardcore players. And, if you disagree, think about the ways to get ascended gear. 30 laurels, which is 30 days of playing. 30 days is a ridiculous amount of time for a “casual” player. Guild Missions, which require massive amounts of time to organize, again, not a casual activity. Fractals, is the longest dungeon in GW2 and requires the most time. Tell me again how GW2 is made for casual players.

Longevity

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Galtrix.7369

Galtrix.7369

I agree with most of what he said, it seems when they made this game they were thinking something along the lines of…

“lets take the Guild Wars universe, and make it “appeal” to a more casual audience".

I think this resulted in some major problems that the game is experiencing now. The build meta is boring and unexciting. Everything feels really shallow. This game keeps making me think it was designed for casual players and that playing it hardcore is something you weren’t supposed to do. Why do I think this? Remember at release how there was little to nothing to do once you got to the end. The personal story wasn’t challenging at all and there was little to no endgame. So they start introducing time locked content with dailies, guild missions, diminishing returns, etc. It is like they weren’t anticipating so many people would try to play it hardcore and are attempting to slow players down.

I don’t believe this can possibly be news for you but yes the game was designed for more casual play hence the huge world, downscaling, business model and anti farming methods.
What completely blows my mind is that some people still don’t seem to realise this.

The game is not shallow- it is very well designed.
It does not lack content or “endgame” it is filled with it from Queensdale to Orr.

What it does not have is a game that magically starts once you hit cap- that forces you to grind levels so that you can get to the top, be the top dog and have the best stats or whatever it is that floats the boat of “hardcore players”

As for shallow- this is actually hilarious because if “hardcore” players were not busy rushing to where ever it is they go, maybe they would actually take a look at the world around them.
Gods I have been playing since the betas and I still see stuff I have never seen before
Don’t get me started on combat- someone wrote a really nice guide at some stage- go read it

Yes and as we can tell all this endgame content is working, right? It is not like half the zones have little to no people in them. Most population is in WvW, farming in cursed shore, or LA. Oh, the good ol hardcore players rush too much? Yeah that is a good argument, it worked amazingly well for star wars the old republic. You can get snotty and upset if you want, but there’s plenty of evidence in game to find that this game is pretty shallow in a lot. Don’t get me wrong, I got my moneys worth with this game. However, in the aspect of an MMORPG it starts out good, then once you get to the end game there’s nothing really to do. DE need to reward players more once they reach 80 (rares are all fine, but with a TP that has items 50g + and players making 100g+ off of flipping the market or farming CoF, it doesn’t suffice in the economy). DE need to effect the world more instead of just uncontesting a waypoint, like promised. Fractals need to be reworked to not seem so much like a treadmil. Honestly, doing fractals to get ascended gear to do more fractals…really?

I’m done ranting and I wont argue with you any further, just saying I’ve seen your argument a thousand times. I saw it with swtor, APB, and the secret world, and those all were considered quite poor, resorting to f2p and cash shops to try to recover their players (which worked for the most part).

Look, not coming here to defend the game, but you don’t realize that Arenanet’s business model revolves around fresh updates every month, bring the old and new players alike back to the game.

There will always be new turnover of players, I don’t care if Bob the mighty stopped playing, since he will be replaced by Joe the invincible whom will be replaced by Mike the Warrior.

And I promise you, I PROMISE, that you and all the complainers will buy any new expansion that will come out as soon as it does.
Why?

  • Because you love to complain
  • Because you love venting
  • Because you think you deserve more
But you won’t admit that you won’t be able to stop playing this game every time a new interesting content will come out. And this is how Arenanet will keep this game alive, because you won’t quit, not 100%, not ever.

I mostly agree with this, but it’s basically 60% of the complainers that do this, the other 40% are actually intelligent and will quit when they say they will. I am fortunately one of the 40% and I saw ahead of time that this game was going into a direction I didn’t want to go, so I left along with many of my guild members/friends.

I barely even pick up Guild Wars 2 now because I get nerfed so much. Besides, I’ve already hit 80 and it got boring from there.

okay. The reason the game discourages you from farming is because you are NOT supposed to FARM in this game. Yes, you lost your money, that’s always sad, but because of that a game that discouraged farming will not suddenly change and allow farming.
Now about dungeons – I did not notice any change in dungeon loot. I think that you just have a bad case of RNG. I was never too lucky myself. I tend to get blues and some greens sometimes. Friends that I run with though get cores and yellows sometimes. It was always this way and wasn’t changed.
And I never needed to exchange gems for gold either. All gem store items that I wanted I got with gold.

Yes, because you do not need to farm 24 hours a day to get a legendary weapon. You do not need to farm 8 hours a day to get the commander title. You do not need to farm dungeons to get money/tokens/items to buy armor. (That was complete and total sarcasm just in case you didn’t catch that.) You sound like a casual player that coasts along and lets money come to him over a long amount of time, but for the players that need to earn it quickly, they have to farm repeatedly. So tell me again how we’re not supposed to “farm” in this game and how it wasn’t made for “farming”.

It may be clunky, but I’d rather play a clunky game that knows how to balance classes than a game with great graphics that sucks at everything.

Because u had the time to explore the endgame (pvp and pve wise) on every single class in a freshly released game in open beta? Really?

I’m going purely off of Perfect World’s other games for my opinion on Neverwinter. If they know how to balance classes in 15 games, then I think they can do it one more time.

GW2 against the casual player?

Quoting messed up i guess it happens.
So every one needs commander title?! Food not needed oddly. What are you spending money on for your guild because it should be if ppl are doing things with your guild rep. then your guild will get better. Legendary is pure cosmetic. You should be making enofe money to repair your gear what at worst if every thing is broken its 12 s if you cant make that before you have broken every thing i am not sure what your doing.
And i say your too WoW mind sated because you do not need EVERYTHING in the game you do not need any ascended item you do not need looks. I ask you why are you not playing WoW? You seem to enjoy it more then this game.

I enjoy WoW’s dungeons, but I enjoy Guild Wars 2’s quests. Keep in mind that I’m still only talking about how the dungeons are hardcore, not casual. The only reason I referenced WoW was because it has the perfect dungeons with just the right amount of reward for the time spent there. Anything else in WoW, I couldn’t care less about. This may only be my final goal for the eventual “end” of an mmorpg, but when I picture the end, I see my character with a decent amount of gold, awesome armor, and amazing stats. Apparently, that’s the only goal Guild Wars 2 has to keep people going. To get those things, in PvE at least, you must spend massive amounts of time in dungeons, or gathering the gold to buy it off the tp. Anet confirmed this by adding Ascended gear. You may not need ascended gear, but Anet knows you want it and they don’t hesitate to implement new armor that you want so you will play more. The rewards for completing the dungeons just aren’t cutting it (I’m mostly talking about FoTM here.) FoTM is the big reason for my argument about dungeons not being casual.
