Dont pug with groups who are all members of the same guild. I don’t even like being in groups of all people from my guild. Chances are guild groups are carrying/teaching other guildies or doing and EXTREMELY casual run.

In your case in particular you should know the risk involved in pugging, the 2 vote system as literally been here since the game came out. Now you claim it’s Areana net’s fault, whoopdy do. You should also be aware that it’s partly your own fault for not being more careful.

I for one like the two vote system, and I enjoy the responsibility that it comes with.

lol. That makes literally no sense whatsoever. There shouldn’t be a risk in pugging, because GW2 encourages group play. If there’s a risk in pugging, people don’t want to pug, and if people don’t want to pug, nobody groups up, and if nobody groups up, Anet’s philosophy of group play goes down the drain. How is it his fault if he was the one that got kicked? And yeah, you may like the flawed two-vote system, but there is no responsibility that comes with it. So you’re only enjoying your own flawed thinking. If a guild is teaching members how to run dungeons, they should START the group with those members, not add to the group as it gets closer to the end.

In Guild Wars 1, capes were really important and they pretty much showed how good your guild was in certain aspects of the game.

How so? I’m genuinely curious, it’s been a while since I’ve played GW1 and when I did I never really bothered with guilds, so I’d like to know. Last I remembered they were purely cosmetic. Were there specific skins or cape shapes that you could unlock for your guild?

There was bronze/silver/gold trim around the cape, I believe. There were also certain shapes of the cape that were unlocked at certain events that guild leaders attended. As far as colors go, I’m not sure if you could unlock colors for your cape.

He must’ve been terrible, and I mean absolutely, positively terrible, for you to be able to kill him when you’re level 14. Even unstealthed, I can hit someone like you for around 6k damage. The last time I was killed by a Warrior or a Guardian was about a month ago while I had a taco in one hand and was doing my taxes while playing. Needless to say, I threw down my taco and managed to kill the guardian and got the warrior down to like 10% health, but then he pulled a hundred-blades skill on me, and I was down. I play WvW every other day, and never, ever get killed 1vs1 by a guardian or a warrior. No offense, but he really must’ve been terrible if he didn’t know when to dodge and then backstab you. Even if you had used your skills at the exact right moments, the Thief could have easily gotten to you within 4-kittens. The most a guardian has ever blocked/resisted/immuned my hits for was about 4 hits.

I still really want Anet to add capes into the game. I honestly don’t feel like I’m playing a Guild Wars game if it doesn’t have capes. In Guild Wars 1, capes were really important and they pretty much showed how good your guild was in certain aspects of the game. I’m still disappointed that GW2 doesn’t have capes and I think it would be a welcome addition now. I’m sure Guild Wars 1 players are with me and they want capes as much as I do, but I can’t speak for people that haven’t played GW1.

Things like this have been happening forever. I was threatened with being kicked if I did not give a gold to each of the other party members (all in the same guild) as a fee for their services. I left instead. I wish they had a system where you could vote on a players reputation so others could see who to avoid.

A reputation system would be a nice addition, but I could see it being abused in the future. Maplestory had a reputation system and every time a person with really high reputation points walked by, everyone would shout in map chat for everyone to vote him down to 0 reputation points. True, Maplestory was a kids game, but 10 year olds play GW2 as well. Keep that in mind.

I actually don’t think I EVER partied with anyone in Guild Wars 1, but I join a party every once in awhile for dungeons/events/JP’s in Guild Wars 2. I’d say about 90% of the time, I explore, quest, and WvW by myself. What made me decide to start playing mostly by myself was the communication issues. Nearly every time I joined a group for Fractals, there would be that one guy that would not listen at all and not respond to anything I said to him, except to ask pointless questions. He would literally go and aggro every monster in the map and then come back to us to massacre us all. Another example of communication issues would be the different languages I encounter. Literally every time I ran Fractals, I would get into a group that spoke Spanish, and then they would blame me for their failures at Fractals. I couldn’t really tell what they said besides the fact that they said my name and then said bad, and I got kicked. I’m definitely not trying to be racist here, but this happened so many times that if my party speaks another language besides English, I just leave. Don’t judge me too harshly, I’m sure if this happened 50+ times to you, on the third Fractal, you’d be tired of it too. This is pretty much the reason I play solo from now on.

what's happened to Queensdale?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Galtrix.7369

Galtrix.7369

I definitely agree. I went to Queensdale the other day and started an event, and it was a very small event, but I can’t remember which one. I had just finished the event when a SWARM of players come crawling over the edge of a hill and almost simultaneously, I got about 60 whispers insulting me for ruining their event circuit. I was so confused for a second until I realized that they were running the events one right after the other, and I had just interrupted their run of these events and now they’d have to move on to a different event. This is on Gate of Madness, by the way. This is not how I wanted Queensdale to turn out at all, especially when new players start there. What are new players going to think about GW2 when players shout at them for starting a simple event? You should be able to start an event alone if you want to, shouting that an event has started is just a courtesy given out okittendness. Now every time I go to Queensdale, I start every event on my own without giving that courtesy because these kittens decided it was okay to insult and belittle. Screw them, when they swarm over the hill again, I’ll be smiling standing over the body of the champion troll or the bodies of multiple bandits and my smile will grow when they fume and insult me. I know I’m just adding to the hurt they’re already inflicting on GW2, but I really can’t do anything to stop their zergs anyway.

“Shed a little light”? Really? They’re the ones that put the 50 point achievements in-game in the first place. They’ll just say what I said earlier. This obviously isn’t a bug and is meant to be a reward for all previous GW1 players. There is nothing to “shed light on”.

This can be solved simply by buying the game and getting 50/50 for yourselves. All of you who complain that it’s unfair that we get achievement points, YOU can get them too. Just buy GW1 and get 50/50 HoM.

Read the posts above… I’m not even gonna answer to this!

Oh, what’s that? You don’t want to buy the game? But you still want the achievement points? Well that sucks, because you don’t get free achievement points, and we had to work for ours. Don’t be envious of our achievement points, anyhow.

Clearly you haven’t read the replies i made! I don’t give a crap about AP’s. i have ~5000 Ap’s! Envious? -__- rly?

Sure, you have to put in just as much as work as we did, but that’s equality for you, and apparently you don’t want us to be equal.

We must be speaking different languages here…

Yeah, I read your comments. And they were answered by my statement when I said you are too lazy to put in the work that we did. If you don’t want the achievement points, then why are you here posting in this forum? The obvious answer is that you want OUR points taken away from us. So either you’re too lazy to buy GW1 and get the achievements yourself, or you want Anet to take away our achievement points because it’s a different game. If you’re not here for those two reasons, then your probably posting in the wrong forum.

Highest damage ranged character in gw2? [PVE]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I was going to say Ranger…. but I decided that joke wasn’t funny enough. But in all seriousness, Elementalists are easily the best ranged damage dealers. Anyone who says otherwise hasn’t faced me in PvP. In PvE, I crit for about 7k easily on level 80 mobs, and I can dish out 4 aoe’s and then by the time the 4th one is done, I can start spamming my aoe’s again. This is with the staff, by the way. Not to brag, but in CoF my guild members were absolutely amazed at the dps I could pull off on the final boss just by spamming my aoes under its feet. This is 7k+ each time I crit too, and with 66% crit chance, that is a ton of damage.

People also got incredibly ticked off at me because I got first place about 60 times in a row, which I don’t understand because the rewards are RNG, and getting in first doesn’t matter unless you want the title.

Nothing is more awesome than being forced to log out of the game because you have died and haven’t enough coin to revive at the nearest uncontested waypoint.

If you don’t save at least 1 gold in your inventory to waypoint to places, you probably deserve your fate lol. I admit that I was in this situation a couple of times, but I quickly learned to keep aside some money for waypointing, and it helps a ton.

Not everyone has the gold to just “save 1 gold” on all characters at all times.

If you’re level 80, I mean. And if you don’t have at least 1g per character when you’re level 80, you need to find a different game. Doing any major event will get you more than 1g.

It really comes down to greed. It always comes down to “moremoremore” these days, doesn’t it? More points. More gold. More skins. Apparently the unique titles and skins that were already offered as HoM rewards weren’t enough to please people. They were clearly unable to enjoy the game on its own merits and want more. That strikes me as somewhat sad.

You’re taking some lengths yourself.

We didn’t ask for more points on pain of hating the game. We got a pleasant surprise when we logged in, because ANet decided to give us more points. I was enjoying the game just fine.

Now, you and your buddies want to take that away, and are saying it’s because we demanded things. We didn’t demand this.

You guys, however, are demanding that this be changed. You guys are the ones raging and twisting ANet giving us a gift into us demanding that we get more points. We GOT more points and YOU are raging about it.

You took the words directly out of my mouth. I definitely didn’t expect to get achievement points by doing HoM, but it was a nice surprise. You know, it doesn’t strike you as sad that you’re just now complaining about the achievement points GW1 players get?
Child: Why does Johnny get more money than me?!
Parent: He did way, way more work than you did and deserves more for it.
Child: That’s not fair! I mowed the yard and Johnny worked in the garden! They’re completely different tasks!
Parent: They may be different, but Johnny put way more effort and time into his task, so it’s fair.

This is exactly what you sound like when you complain about the achievement points that GW1 players get. You sound like a child. If you missed my point entirely, feel free to go back and read my short story again, because I quite like it.

Why are you people complaining that it’s unfair? Anet is rewarding players from Guild Wars 1 that worked incredibly hard to earn their achievements. And those achievements from HoM are really, really difficult to get. I applaud anyone who had the patience and the persistence to actually get all 50/50 points. Jealousy of those 500 points is no reason to go pointing fingers saying “Why do they get 500 points and we don’t?” They earned them, fair and square. You didn’t do anything to earn any points, so again, it’s fair.

PvP on a Ranger is fine, but finding a group for serious, hardcore dungeons/events on a Ranger is unbelievably difficult. Nobody wants a low-dps Ranger joining the group and ruining the high damage output. Let’s see, I’ve been kicked out of Fractals level 27+ 4 times, been kicked out of CoF 8 times, and CoE 2 times. Which is the most downtrodden profession?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Galtrix.7369

Galtrix.7369

Rangers, I say this and I don’t even play one…. There are so many players who do play rangers and it makes it very very noticeable that the profession is a little neglected.
After that I would say Ele’s. Even spec’d into Earth and Water we die ridiculously easily. It’s pretty much ‘play D/D or go home’, and I don’t want to use daggers, daggers on a casting profession is ridiculous and shouldn’t be considered the most viable option.
Inb4 someone calls me out for being a whining Ele. Consider that with so many of us whining there might actually be a reason for it…

I’m only slightly disagreeing with you on this one. D/D is not the ONLY viable build. It’s either staff, or D/D. I find it ridiculous as well that D/D is the most viable option for a casting class, but Ele’s have nearly no reason to complain. I play a staff Elementalist and consistently out-damage D/D Elementalists. All I have to do is stand way, way back and spam my AoE’s and watch the world burn before my might. Seriously though, I was critting for nearly 8k damage in CoF the other day. I really don’t see a reason for Elementalists to complain at all when I can dish out that kind of damage. On my Ranger? 1-2k crits. I can deal more damage by picking up stray branches and whacking away at monsters than by actually using my skills to damage them. Isn’t that a little weird to you? And what about Engineers? Their DPS is nearly similar to that of the Ranger’s, if not a little, very tiny, bit better.

I honestly thought it was Anet’s way of ensuring that people don’t just stand there and auto-attack for meta-boss events, but apparently not. I always figured when my target (Jormag in this case), dropped, that it was really annoying but necessary to make sure bots don’t get a cut of the rewards. I found it really annoying that my target would randomly drop every few seconds and I would have to zoom out, click on the target, (Dragons are really big targets), and then zoom back in, and if this is a bug, then it’s a really dumb bug.

Elementalist

I have 2 lvl 80 characters in full ascended, an ele and a ranger. With the exception of zerging in WvW, the ranger is better at everything.

Anyone who complains about ranger DPS has never played an ele. Yes, ranger dps is incredibly low in comparison to the 3 melee classes but the ele auto attack doesn’t even hit for 300. The most damaging spell an ele has ‘Fire Grab’ barely clears 1k damage unless you spec full glass at which point everything 1 shots you.

Maybe if you played better you could spec for more damage instead of playing the quintessential auto attack spamming class that is rangers. When I think of rangers I will always remember the bear pet auto attack bots from launch. I have never been impressed by a player ranger except during the clearly broken period that ended 6/25/13, and that was mostly from the npc ai following them around.

Ele players are the loudest whiners on the forums but since it gets us some attention I don’t often call them out on it. Most just play the same old boring bunker set and then complain that theres no damage or they die too easy when they’re throwing their dodges away for a blast finisher.

Pay no attention to the guy that says his Ranger does more dps than his Elementalist. My DPS on my Elementalist outshines my Ranger’s DPS any day of the week. Even when I switch to scepter/focus, which I’m not specced for at all, I STILL do more damage than my full glass cannon Ranger. And if you’re barely hitting for 1k damage… you seriously need to find a better build. I hit for 5k regularly on my Elementalist. And there’s no possible way your Ranger does everything better than an Elementalist. My Elementalist survives far more encounters with enemies, he can do a ton more damage to way more enemies in a shorter amount of time, and he can just glance at an enemy and it falls down. I do agree that players that play an Elementalist are the loudest whiners on the forums, but their complaints are baseless and I can’t see where they’d possibly see that Elementalists need improvement. This is the situation, and the only situation, where I say “Learn to play”.

I really don’t see the point in switching between guilds unless you’re an avid dungeon runner that can’t find groups or you need more bank space. When you spend all your time in one guild, you get to know everyone and you grow close with everyone. When you switch between guilds, you’re essentially severing that connection to your guild.

Prepare yourselves: The nerfs are coming.

But in all seriousness, Anet tends to have selective hearing when it comes to balancing classes. Ranger and Engineer get ignored, Elementalist and Mesmer continually get nerfed, Warrior, Guardian, and Thief are the only somewhat balanced classes in the game, and Necromancer’s got a one time buff (I think).

When someone complained that Thieves were op, Anet was quick to pull out the nerf hammer and swipe away at anything the players said were op.

Yet, when my Ranger is completely ignored every single patch and I write dozens of posts about the Ranger being underpowered, (I’m not alone here, there are literally hundreds if not thousands of underpowered Ranger posts in the forums), Anet does not hear any of us.

So if I were you, I wouldn’t use the words “Necro” and “OP” in the same sentence, because Anet may swipe at you with their hammer of nerfs.

every time I swap to my greatsword. That I kill things in pve much faster with my masterwork knight’s greatsword than I do with my exotic berserker’s longbow just…well, it doesn’t seem right. It seems like somewhere along the line during development something conceptual didn’t survive the translation to practice and everyone in the room either missed it or was too stubborn to admit it.

It’s been like this since Guild Wars 1. I bought Guild Wars 2 in the hopes that Anet would have enough sense to increase the Ranger’s power and agility, but they ended up doing the opposite for no reason whatsoever. I was used to using a longbow (stormbow) in Guild Wars 1, and I was incredibly disappointed in the direction Anet chose to take with the longbow in GW2. The LB is barely a viable option compared to the SB and GS nowadays. Even Blizzard had enough sense to increase the Hunter’s power when Hunters complained that they were way underpowered compared with other classes, but when Rangers complain that they need a buff, all is ignored. Anet needs to take a step back and analyze the Ranger class as a whole. From our perspective, we lack damage, survivability, our pets just got a nerf for no apparent reason, and we think you hate us with a passion, Anet. Seriously, it’s unbelievable how much damage I lack when I switch from my godly Elementalist to my barely-survivable Ranger.

With click 300 this and 200 that content and no expansion i don’t expect this game to last long enough to make it worth it. Yesterday we had problems finding 2 random players for CoF, there were barely any people at entrance, we were shocked. If it’s not a sign GW2 population is seriously droping i don’t know what is. So the answer is no

Maybe your server sucks.

No, I agree. People are dropping from GW2 like flies. I had to guest to 2 different servers just to get a party for CoF, and even then it took around 4 hours. I expect this game to last about another year, at most, and if it lasts longer than that, I’ll be seriously surprised. The way Anet dished out those RNG boxes really got to a lot of people, so they left to go play other games.

I already sympathize with ranger and want anet to rework the class.

Making bm ranger viable is just gimmicky and I want the ranger itself to be viable

If Anet hasn’t done anything about the Ranger this far into the game’s life, then it probably won’t get a significant rework at all. Guess how long I’ve been waiting for the Ranger to get a “rework”? Since the beginning of Guild Wars 1 when it sucked there too. Anet completely ignored all our pleas for buffs to the Ranger when all of the Rangers were sprawled on the ground dying from one hit from a tiny rabbit. I can give an accurate guess as to how many Rangers there were right before GW2 came out. Probably 5 in the entire game were Rangers. But anyway, Elementalists are completely fine, I use mine all the time and steamroll everything in my path. It’s a completely different turnover from playing a Ranger and doing damage like I’m slapping someone in the face to playing an Elementalist and creating an inferno of fiery doom beneath the feet of my enemy.

Elementalist NOT the Jack of all Trades

Good. My Ranger in GW1 was considered the “Jack of all trades” by Anet and they threw dozens of nerfs my way that screwed over my favorite class even though I still couldn’t do some things that other classes could do. I’m glad to see Anet gave Elementalists that title instead of Rangers for once. Good luck getting Anet to take back what they said about Elementalists being the Jack of all Trades. Why? Because I tried that in GW1 and they pretty much laughed in my face. Have fun with your nerfs.

Multiple Ways to Gain Money

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Galtrix.7369

Many people I know have personally told me that they do not know how to earn enough money to support themselves, which surprised me immensely. If you want to gain money, and only money, then there are always ways to gain a lot of it.

CoF part 1 is my answer. Doesn’t surprise you, does it? Getting some magic find food and running through it a couple times a day will get you a few gold, which is enough to support yourself. Should you find the need for more gold, use the dungeon tokens you received as a reward and buy exotic armor pieces with the tokens. From there, you can either: A. Salvage them for ectos/other mats or B. Mystic Forge that crap. I personally wouldn’t recommend mystic forging anything nowadays, but that’s just me being paranoid.

Should you have need of even more gold, doing the daily and buying the tier 6 mats from the laurel vendor should get you about 50 silver. If you don’t feel inclined to go for the pointless ascended gear, then you can save up your laurels and buy all the tier 6 mats you want.

Buying rares from the TP and mystic forging them hoping for a precursor is a definite no no. Though there are some people that have claimed they did this and got a precursor, I have done it on multiple occasions to no avail and would not recommend doing this as you will go broke soon. I can almost guarantee you cannot stop spending money hoping for a precursor. If you need to mystic forge something, get rares from the meta-bosses and mystic forge those bad boys.

Go to meta-boss events and get the chest at the end. You get a guaranteed rare and a chance at more rares or a precursor (yeah right), and some salvageable items. You can either salvage the rares for the ectos, if you’re saving the ectos, or you can sell the actual rare on the TP for a little bit more money.

These are the fastest ways I’ve learned of how to get money quickly and efficiently. I hope this helps any new players wondering about this particular aspect of Guild Wars 2.

For the more experienced GW2 players: What are some of the ways you guys earn money quickly?

Yes, I grow tired of his bragging unless he intends to make up for the unfairness that is RNG. I couldn’t care less except for how annoyed I am at this gambling aspect of the game.

I think a developer from Wildstar said it best: From an economic standpoint, I love lotteries because they’d be an extra money sink. The extra money sink means I could reduce the costs of, say, item repair and the economy would remain balanced. However, gambling is not welcome in all regions and can create animosity.

The unfairness? RNG is 100% fair. It’s like the lottery. Is the lottery unfair? No. You choose to play and you know your odds.

At the moment, I think people have a better chance at winning the lottery than gaining a precursor. Putting end-game gear as an RNG “chance to get it” is unbelievably ridiculous and should not have even been considered an aspect of this game. I spent more than 2000 hours ALONE just buying rares and throwing in exotics until I ran out of money. I did this daily and didn’t ever get a single worthwhile exotic or even a glimpse at a precursor. If you want a precursor, you have to grind the money for it, or have a chance to get it to drop. The mystic forge shouldn’t even exist. It probably exists only to get players to play more by making them dump all of their hard earned money down the forge and making them start from scratch. I don’t hate people like you for getting precursors whenever you feel lucky. I hate Anet for even implementing this stupid design in the first place.

How many people play Guild Wars 2?

I know for a fact that many, many people left GW2 because of the RNG issues and the “not enough permanent content” issues. I’m about to play other games because the Mystic Forge is making me angry beyond belief.

Ironically that’s not why people should leave. if anything it should be great ideas and bug/gameplay reports are simply ignored. I got headaches more than once from the blinding vista flashes, reported it multiple times and it’s the same.

So bug reports are ignored? No bugs are fixed at all?

Maybe there are a lot of bugs and some new bugs as well and Anet is fixing bugs according to an order that makes sense to them…for example…bugs that halt progress first (which is why you have an option to check that off when you report a bug).

If that were true, the TP bug would’ve been fixed since launch. But it’s been there. Since launch. I’m pretty sure a bug that makes it so you can’t use the TP halts progress. I mean, you have to exit the game and then log back in to use it. If it works. Lots of bugs are fixed, sure. But Anet apparently needs to prioritize which bugs they should fix first. The TP bug was reported so many times that it should have been fixed instantly. Instead, no answers were given, and no bugs were fixed that dealt with the TP.

Exiting the game and logging back in doesn’t halt progress. Halting progress is like when you are doing a personal story and it won’t finish, so you can’t continue your personal story. That’s halting progress. Relogging to activate the trading post…not halting progress.

That’s not even a good try.

So you disagree that the TP bug should have been fixed at launch then? And it halts my money intake for a few minutes. Most people are lazy and don’t want to take the time to restart their client just so they can get their hard earned gold from the TP. I’d say this is a halt in progress. My point is that this bug should have been fixed ages ago, and allowing it to stay in the game this far into its life should have never happened. No matter what, this should have been fixed 5+ months ago

“I’ll take my ranger’s single target DPS over my ele’s single target DPS any day.”

And that’s the issue here. My Elementalist does so much more damage than my Ranger, that I can take out 6 targets with my Ele before my Ranger even takes out 1. If your Ranger does more dps than your Elementalist, you have serious l2p issues. I’m tired of people sticking up for the Ranger when there is a clearly a problem with their dps. No offense, but people like you are going to kill this game if you keep sticking up for a class that needs improvement.

Hi guys, what are some funny bugged out things you see in GW2?

Earlier I was running in Queensdale and noticed that one of my leg was missing. LOL

Oh, I had that happen before, except mine stuck out between my legs in the front and looked like a ….. well, you know. I didn’t know other people could see it until I got like 10 whispers saying, “You know you have a really long thing sticking out in front of you, right?”

What GW2 is missing in my opinion

I agree, and I’m glad to see someone else thinks the same way I do. I will always dislike the fact that I warp to meta-bosses, events, dungeons and never stop in certain maps because they have nothing to offer. The main storyline in GW1 was amazing, and I couldn’t wait to complete the storyline of GW2, but then it was a huge disappointment because it lacked feeling. Shooting a dragon with a cannon was nothing compared to killing Abaddon with my bare hands. It was quite an achievement that I was proud of because it took skill. I was really surprised that I was able to kill Zhaitan with one hand while eating popcorn with the other. I completely agree that some aspects of this game need to be upgraded, and some aspects need to be downgraded.

I assumed he would want a better answer than “Only Anet can answer this”. So a guess is still better than your answer. I’m giving him my personal experience and nothing more. He is intelligent enough to decide what to believe and what not to believe. Yes, only Anet can answer this, but ask for more people’s experience with the game and you’ll get a slew of different answers.

im amazed at the first answer; ranger and thief are ridiculously good at open world pve… it must be the event farmers answering?

i voted:
mesmer
ranger
balanced (LB ranger with piecring arrows can put a lot of hurt on a zerg and tag a ton; and i love charging in with swoop>entangle>LR back to my zerg whilst watching those i entangled get melted… then theres the long duration water field with regen and cleansing; almost put thief… but then i realised good thieves can abuse zergs for C+D fodder, SR groups for stealth attacks and blast finisher spam in water/fire/lightning fields)
balanced (couldnt think of anything but staff ele)
warrior

In what world are Rangers good in PvE? I want to live there, because I really want to like Rangers, but Anet is determined to make it a non-existent class in this game. Their dps is substantially lower than every other class in the game. It’s even lower than an Engineer’s which is very low to begin with.

After seeing people every day in the early stages of GW2, I assumed it would always be like that, but I actually can go exploring for 6 hours and not see a single person. I know for a fact that many, many people left GW2 because of the RNG issues and the “not enough permanent content” issues. I’m about to play other games because the Mystic Forge is making me angry beyond belief. I dropped over 500 rares and over 50 exotics into the mystic forge JUST yesterday and I got nothing worth my time. I can only assume from other people’s posts that they have experienced similar disasters and have decided to move on. So in short, the number is low and is decreasing. As a consistent player of GW2, I can only guess by the number of people I see in game. With the consistent RNG, I’m guessing that drove off 60% of GW2’s playerbase including myself. Again, I’m only guessing and could be completely wrong, but from what I am seeing GW2 is slowly going downhill.

I’ve played a Ranger since the beginning of Guild Wars 1, and I can say that Rangers have consistently declined in strength over my time in GW1 and now in GW2. After being the best Ranger ever in PvP/PvE for GW1, Anet tossed a few nerfs my way, but I shrugged them off with no problems. This happened a few more times (at least 15 more times), and I instantly realized that I actually really sucked. I stuck through though until I reached GW2, and then created a Ranger here. I enjoyed most of my time until I saw that Anet was going for the same thing they did in GW1: slowly degenerating the Ranger class into a non-existent pile of garbage. I have played Engineer, Mesmer, Thief, and Ranger, and I can tell you in all honesty that Rangers take the cake for the worst class in GW2.

My opinion about what things should change

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Galtrix.7369

Galtrix.7369

Guild Wars 2 is following trends, not the manifesto

Guild Wars 2 was at lts strongest when it knew how to please everyone. There were things for hardcore players to do! The current community believes it’s impossible to cater to both type of players – that’s a lie because Arena.NET did do that! Now it’s falling into one trap after another – temporary content, RNG, these things don’t build a community. What you create, ultimately, is a shallow experience, a business model for the select few who enjoy it and that’s not what Colin Johanson wanted GW2 to become.

How is temporary content a trap that Anet is falling into? If you missed some of it, you can read about it later. The good thing with temporary content is that no matter when you log in, you’ll always have something new going on.

Reward is crucial

This is not equivalent to stat upgrades. Why do people seem to think so? Every successful title rewards players in some way – be it a meaningful story ending, a powerful item, a new armor set and so on. What’s Guild Wars 2’s alternative? One person slaves for weeks grinding gold for whatever goal he has in his mind. The other tosses 4 rares in a gambling pit and gets an item worth 500 gold. This is simply offensive. So I’m rewarded for not playing the game but playing with my luck? That’s absurd, it’s pointless! Who, other than the person who drew the winning number, enjoys it?

Not the RNG rants again.

There’s nothing offensive with the Mystic Forge or precursor drops. When you decide to make a legendary, you are fully aware you have like 0.0x% chance of achieving it. You accept those odds, and you are not entitled to succeeding, no matter how much you work for it. You accepted the odds that include a chance to fail (although you can still buy one after all that work).

Invest in the future, not in the Living Story

The worst business policy is the short-sighted one. The Living Story is a testimony to that – it keeps the profit high with RNG boxes while alienating the people who have been playing since release. All the work of designers is getting removed because some salesman figured Guild Wars 2 needs to cash in now? That’s development wasted on the future of the game! How do you want to evolve a game that has its new content erased every month?! Add Guild Halls, not next year, now! Make lasting improvements to Guild Wars 2 and players will see that Arena.NET is committed to supporting it! Without transparency you’re leaving people with the most logical suggestion- that the revenue from your game is supporting the development of Wildstar.

It’s not your kittening business where the revenue from GW2 is going. If you don’t like how Ncsoft is handling money, don’t buy anything from them.

No content is erased ever, everything becomes a part of the game. Arena.net didn’t want the old type of content that’s always there whether it makes sense or not – this game is literally evolving through the temporary content. The name “Living Story” is very fitting.

Wow. Just wow. I have never seen such an ignorant post in my life. Not to be rude, though. Apparently you don’t think that the only “end-game” in Guild Wars 2 should be obtained by pure luck with the mystic forge, or pure luck with your looting. Legendary weapons should not be obtained by luck. When people throw in thousands of rares and exotics and get crap, then a noob comes walking up to the mystic forge, tosses in 4 rares and gets a precursor instantly, they have every reason to be upset. Legendary weapons should be obtained by the amount of effort you put into getting them and should not have a .00001% chance to get one.

Secondly, it is our business where Anet is spending the money we give them. Like a shareholder, we expect to be let in on at least some of the future plans they are going to implement. If they took my money and then said, “Oh, looks like we’re out of money and closing down GW2.”, everyone would wonder where their money went. It is our business.

The living story is the worst type of content. Content that’s doable in a day and with minimal reward to show for your effort. Some of the content is good, but most is just pure, unending garbage.

Guild Wars 2 doesn’t have the gear grind, and the amount of people playing GW2 compared to WoW, a game with gear grind, is a lot less than WoW.

And Rift has gear grind, and yet there are a lot less people playing Rift than WoW. TOR has gear grind, and there are a lot less people playing it than WoW. And so on, and so on.

You are assuming gear grind makes a game good. You are wrong.

Read my above messages please. I am not assuming gear grind makes a game good. There are other factors as well. I explained how gear grind was good for some people and not good for others

i feel like there is a gear grind. i exclusively did wvw with my guardian and it took way too long to get a complete exotic invaders. plus, you make barely any gold in wvw. and there is no ascended wvw either so it’s impossible while the pveers come in with ascended and can beat you (when you spent all your time in wvw….not really a great situation there).

That’s as close to a gear grind as Anet’s probably ever going to get. Even that gear grind lasts…. what, 3 days to a week? It’s still pretty long, but I don’t believe it’s really a grind when there are multiple ways to get the WvW armor. Jumping puzzles, killing invaders, zerging, capturing towers, all ways to get the tokens. I really don’t know how long it takes casual players to get this armor, but it took me about 4 days to get a complete set.
