Zerg trains in Queensdale

I don’t call out bosses in map chat anymore, I just solo them and move on. People were jerks to me when I solo’d, so now I’m the jerk and I love seeing the Zerg trains rage at me for it. There is no law that says you must call out champions before starting. Zerg trains shouldn’t be happening anyway, it ruins the experience for new players.

Mystic Toliet and Pre-cursors

My horror story? You’ll have nightmares, but okay.

I’ve played Guild Wars 2 since launch and once I hit 80, I immediately began buying and tossing rares/exotics into the mystic forge every day. I began throwing in rares/exotics when I had about 1,400 gold so I could buy them off of the TP. I made it my goal to never go below 1,200 gold, and when I hit that mark, I would run CoF part 1 until I recuperated the money I had spent.

So I threw in rares/exotics every single day in the hopes for even a glimpse of a precursor. I must’ve thrown in well over 5,000 rares and over 2,000 exotics into the mystic toilet, and finally, I just said, “Screw it.” I spent all of my 1,400 gold on rares and threw them all into the mystic toilet hoping for a precursor. I didn’t even get a single. decent. exotic. I swear, the best exotic I got was worth about 3 gold. I very nearly broke my laptop in half after I got all that trash.

There is a massive issue when I can throw that much gold into the MF and get a bunch of crap and a laugh or two from the devs.

At the end, I probably threw away about 10,000 rares and 4,000 exotics. And yes, I am very aware that I could have simply “bought” the precursor, but for some reason, I thought the Mystic Forge actually liked me.

This definitely reminded me why I don’t gamble. I’m cursed with never, ever winning and losing everything I have.

I was so peeved in the end though, that I calmly salvaged all of my exotic gear/trinkets from all of my characters, and put everything I earned in the guild bank – I think a noob got 424 of my ectos and he was pretty happy about that. I told my guild that I dumped stacks of tier 6 mats in the bank and I saw like 300 members rush to the LA bank to grab it all haha.

There’s my sob story for you.

Achievement Entitlement

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Galtrix.7369

Galtrix.7369

I agree. Players really do act like the game is a job and don’t enjoy playing it like they should. The latest patch, the Zephyr airship or something like that, made me realize how many players actually just play for the achievement points, and not the actual content. I’m guilty of doing this myself every once in awhile, but I usually try to enjoy the content I’m doing.

I came to this realization when I got yelled at about 30 times in the Sanctum Sprint. Let me start with this: I am very good when it comes to fast reaction time/jumping/landing and stuff like that, so I came in first about 90% of the time. On my first race, I even got the wind catcher skin and linked it in chat. You wouldn’t believe how angry people got. It’s like they all turned super saiyan and threw a plasma ball at their computers, because they all logged off at the same time when I linked that.

But I digress. As I ran more and more of the Sanctum Sprints, I began to see people saying, “Let’s take turns winning so we can all get the achievement”. I said “Play the game the way it’s supposed to be played”, and I got multiple insults back. So? I said screw you and rushed as fast as I possibly could to get in first every time.

If everyone in the game got the achievement, then it wouldn’t really be considered an “achievement”, would it?

After being downed repeatedly with people watching me die, I no longer res anyone unless it’s a dungeon run. There was this one time when I was downed for 2 whole minutes all the while shouting, “Res me! Res me!”. There were AT LEAST 40 people at that event, but no one bothered to res me during that entire 2 minutes.

Not everyone is like that, sometimes its a judgement call, if you can kill the threat fast, its worth doing that first and then res peeps, but 2 mins is a while, you were just unlucky with the peeps around you i guess.

Oh, yeah, I’d totally understand if that was the case, but crap like this happened many, many times. I wouldn’t stop rezzing people just because of one bad event. If I had to take a guess, I’d say this happened about 17ish times just last week. And yeah, I always hope that people would see me and the bosses’ health and go, “Oh, let’s kill it fast so that guy gets healed”, but each time this happened, the boss was near half health or near full, that’s why I don’t rez anymore.

No, I was getting hit every once in awhile, but it wasn’t enough to kill me so I could stay alive just long enough to spam the heal button.

I took my like off because the facebook page moderators will delete ANY negative comment, even if it is valid and well represented.

this is pathetic but Microsoft did the same after E3 X1’s ****storm by deleting everything negative on their official youtube page but there was so much negativity from everyone that they just blocked all comments lmao. Mods deleting negative comments (this was on this forum as well but i noticed it got better, you can at least be negative/give reason why you dislike something and not be 100% moderated and message deleted) just shows how many people were disappointed with gw2 and how much it failed to deliver.

By this logic, every single MMORPG is disappointing and fails to deliver. All of them, including WoW, Rift, Lotro, because every single MMORPG’s game forums are predominantly negative.

So what you’re really saying is all MMOs suck. Because I’ve not found a single MMORPG with official forums that are predominantly positive.

No. Just no. WoW’s forums are about an equal balance of positives/negatives. Rift’s forums are pretty positive, because most people are happy with the direction that Rift took.

People complain about Guild Wars 2 for a reason. Sure there are some people that complain about nothing, but if there are complaints every single day on the forums, and people agree with them? That’s a signal that Anet did something wrong.

Research before you say something. Not all forums are predominantly negative.

I guess I don’t understand why people continue to play in spite or come back and post here to try to convince people that the game is bad.

Because you’re not listening…. It didn’t start off bad.

Are you suggesting that it somehow ended up bad?

Because the game we have right now is a thousand times better than what we had at launch.

Hahahahahahahahahaha. That’s more than hilarious. The classes at launch were nearly perfect. They were all balanced nicely, with a few minor tweaks to the overpowered and underpowered skills. Now to the current GW2: Please, tell me why permastealth is allowed in this game, and why CoF runs are only run with Warriors and Mesmers. Tell me why a melee warrior does more damage and has greater survivability than my Elementalist who is supposed to do massive damage. Tell me why every. single. event. is released with dozens of bugs.

Sure, all of these things were present at launch, but they were nowhere near the scale they’re at now. With this latest patch came countless bugs that screwed me over so many times. I spent gold on a 100 gold item that I never received and was told I would never get compensation for it. I could go on, and on, but I think you understand my point. This game didn’t just fall out a window, it took a running start and flew out the window, got hit by a train, and exploded into a thousand tiny pieces.

So, in summary, you could say that Guild Wars 2 does fine on those patch days, but lacks enough players to be a successful mmo on other days.

The game sold 3 million in the West – the smallest market for an MMO. It hasn;t released in Asia fully yet. Even though a large chunk wont be playing anymore (people try and leave, its the way of all mmos), I don’t understand why people don;t think this is successful just because it isn;t living up to their own expectations. I’m fully aware of GW2 failings and the poorness of Living Story so far, but I can also easily see how successfull this game has been so far and with so much more potential yet to come.

LOTRO is dying and is putting everything into Helms Deep. Whena company sends out surveys and questionnaires to email addresses asking “what’s wrong”,..thats when you know a company is worried.

Anarchy Online. Maybe 10,000 players? Maybe half that? Still Funcoms most successful game and biggest cash cow. 12 years on, virtually no content updates, no sign of dying on the horizon

Eve. As stated – critically acclaimed. Probably the most well known MMO after Wow currently active. Playerbase small in comparison to many

GW2 is not dying. It needs improvements in a lot of places, but still successful. As for Facebook? I don’t use it, so wont give it a thumbs up. 1 million was quite a stretch target I feel..

I never said it was dying. I said that the game probably didn’t have the amount of players Anet would like to have, so they implemented the 2 week content system.

And again, I didn’t say it wasn’t successful in general. Please, read what I post. I said it was successful only on patch days and the rest of the days were not. That’s why Anet brought in the achievement point rewards system. To get more people playing every day instead of just patch days. But, guess what happened? Nobody cared enough about the rewards to play every single day, and they’re still playing only on patch days.

I did read what you wrote and saw nothing that justifies it failing outisde of patch days. I’m seeing (anecdotal evidence granted) more people playing than 6 months back outside of patch days. I agree Living STory/2 week patches haven’t been fantastic, but it could be argued we are a minority given the large number of players playing and not posting here.

I said it lacks enough players to be successful on other days. I did not say it fails. I did not say it’s dying. I did not say it will die.

When I say “lacks enough players to be successful”, I mean that, outside of patch days, there aren’t enough players you see running around. They’re all in Spvp and in WvW because that’s pretty much the only end game there is. When it’s not a patch day, I see maybe one person in my 10 hours of playing and running around in random maps. They’re all idling in LA or doing Spvp/WvW.

Guild Wars 2’s not losing steam. Anyone who thinks so isn’t around on patch days. There’s still a whole lot of people playing it.

It’s not a blockbuster with 7 million player, but then no MMO that’s been produced in the last 7 years is. Not one. So how do you measure success.

Everyone says Eve Online is successful and that has only 500,000 subscriptions. I’m pretty sure that more people play Guild Wars 2 than that (but I have no way to prove it).

Guild Wars 2 is doing fine. The people who don’t like it say it isn’t….but you can’t keep producing new content every 2 weeks if you’re not doing fine.

Anyone who says you can is delusional.

I can definitely say the opposite. They don’t have the number of players they would like, so they’re pumping out content out of sheer desperation to get more people to join. But, that’s a guess like yours.

And that’s the problem with Guild Wars 2. Most people ONLY play on patch days. When you hit the part in the game where all you want to do and can do is earn Achievement points and play mini-games/events, then that’s when you play on patch days and you don’t feel the need to play more than that. And by patch days, I mean people play until they feel they’ve completed a decent amount of the new content to stop doing it. I know I hit that mark myself about 2 months ago, and even then I miss a patch day every once in awhile if it’s not intriguing enough.

So, in summary, you could say that Guild Wars 2 does fine on those patch days, but lacks enough players to be a successful mmo on other days.

Main Cities

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Galtrix.7369

People gather in LA, like Tiberius said, because a lot of the living story arcs and all of the holiday events take place, for the most part, in LA…or LA has some part in it.

Curious to hear what other think as well.

My question is: Why go through the trouble of creating other main cities only to completely ignore them and throw everyone into one city? Waste of Dev effort. Blizzard did the same thing when they made Stormwind/Org the main hubs. All other cities were abandoned. They realized this and admitted they screwed up.

Yet there are still more people in the unpopular WoW cities than in the unpopular GW2 cities.

Making Stormwind/Orgrimmar the main cities was smart of them though. Those two cities were large and had everything you could ever need. I’m guessing Blizzard did it because there weren’t enough people to spread into all cities so they made those two cities. I’m guessing that’s the reason for Anet too, because they don’t have enough people to spread throughout all cities. Why Anet made LA the main city though, I will never know. It’s smaller than a lot of the other cities, which makes no sense at all.

In all honesty, I don’t know. I played GW1 and every single city had at least 30 players in it every day. I guess Anet thought that adding more cities would be a good thing and would spread people evenly throughout every city, but people just gathered at LA instead. I’d really like to see more people in Divinity’s Reach, because I love that city a lot. I could care less about every other city.

I hate those people that stand at the end of the puzzle and kill people before they can get their chest. I was on my Ranger and I was literally 3 feet away from the kite when two people came and destroyed me.

Obviously, I was angry. So I hopped on my Thief, ran the JP again, and then killed them both and danced on their corpses singing, “Noobs will be noobs, but I’m way better than noobs.”

I was still really angry though, so I waited for about half an hour to see if they would come back, and eventually they did… with 2 more people. I just popped on my pistol/dagger and went to town. It took about 20 minutes, but I eventually killed em all and danced on their corpses again.

The lesson of this story? Always run OS on a thief.

Rangers are perfectly fine in PvE. They certainly aren’t without their faults and there are things I’d like to see changed. But they aren’t useless.

Anet said I could play how I wanted and still be viable. I wanted to play with the longbow. My damage is almost non-existent. Oh, look, I’m no longer viable.

No offense, but people who defend Rangers are the ones that prevent the Ranger from being changed. I’m not trying to bash Rangers, because I really enjoy playing them, but It’s really, really difficult to enjoy the class behind the sound of my arrows striking my enemy for 1 damage each.

When Anet buffed the longbow, that was the happiest day of my life, until I saw that they increased the rate of fire, but lowered the damage. I then realized that Anet had no idea what they were doing. At all. There was no point to that change whatsoever, and I really wanted to smash my face into my keyboard badly.

You’re reading far too much into my post. I’m not trying to say that rangers are perfect as they currently stand. I agree that they need more work. But the class isn’t useless.

Regarding your first comment about ANet saying we can play as we want, well, yes they said that. But the catch is that you can play as you want using the mechanics established for your chosen class. As a guardian, I’m not incredibly effective at long range. I need to find ways to survive while in melee range or provide utility to those that are moving into melee range/staying at a distance. It isn’t always a completely fair balance since there are situations where melee range isn’t feasible. But I’ve accepted it as one of the weaknesses of the class and I’ve learned to work around it.

The tradeoff to using a longbow with a ranger is reduced damage but more range. Is that a fair tradeoff? I don’t know. At the very least it seems somewhat reasonable. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t still require tweaking or that the class doesn’t need certain aspects of it buffed.

Alright, I agree that there must be somewhat of a tradeoff when it comes to doing more damage or surviving more. And I apologize, I misunderstood you at first. I probably wasn’t paying attention and I thought you said the Ranger class is perfect as is.

On the other hand though, there are very, very few builds that are viable to the Ranger. I think there are about two builds that actually work well. Compare that to any other class, and you’ll see why I think they’re useless. Even the best build on a Ranger is still mediocre compared to crap Guardian builds. If they’re not useless now, they will be soon.

You’d think that Anet would have learned to decrease the amount of bugs on new events that they create, but it just seems like they learned how to increase em. Even WoW didn’t have this many bugs, and that’s saying something. Anet messed up big time with this event though.

The game of 3 classes....

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Galtrix.7369

Galtrix.7369

First off, I understand the message of the post: all classes are viable, except the 3 {M,G,W} outclasses the others PvE wise.

I don’t agree. I played all[most] all the classes, in fact, I have all classes to Lv80 except for Engineer. My thief got to Lv40s FotM even before Anet introduce the now flexible partying for FotM. Never got kicked, and often, helped the team in PuG.

My build is a tank build though, and while I did lose a lot of DPS, I have great support capability. Sure, my buff is actually a debuff to enemies (blind, bleed, etc), those helped ALL my party mates indirectly. And I can Refuge the team, if and when needed, can can take agro from mobs to take the heat away when others are revving.

Is my thief outclassed? Nope! It just shows that my class is different than the other 3, and it very very much different gameplay.

I play Ranger too, and I love to provide support if and when possible, with Spirits. And I normally call myself a Monk cause I main Sword/Horn and SB/LB. Again, similar to thief, I can provide Traps that is more like a debuff but I can also provide buffs (Spirits). Sure, the spirits die fast in boss AoE and that sucks, but again, proper placement of them, and knowing this class plays differently than the 3 you mentioned helps define the role.

As an Ele, I actually love the healing skills and the boon removal of this class. I’d say, this is my worst played class but I have seen other players handle this class quite nicely.

My point is, I don’t necessarily agree that the other classes are outclassed, just because they have lesser team buffs, the other class are just too diversified. Also, when you stay alive longer while doing decent constant damage, it’s more than enough as a support to the team, whatever your class may be. And it doesnt matter if you’re W|M|G, if you’re always downed and/or constantly dying, your build and class means nothing.

That’s pretty much all the Ranger’s good for: support. The damage is lacking so much I just want to hit my head against a wall repeatedly. Blizzard would’ve never allowed their classes to get THIS unbalanced.

If AreaNet released more armor that looked like the Radiant Mantle …

I’d make a random password -> change my email -> print it -> rip it -> stomp on it -> burn it -> flush it down the toilet -> never look back again.

Most of the shoulders are plain ugly scaled (aside from human light female … who wonders). Way to big and mostly floating somewhere in the air.

Imagine everyone with all those particle effects. It ’s really putting the engine to it ’s limits even when just a few players are wearing particle heavy skins right now.

And no, it ’s got nothing to do with the hardware or our drivers but the way the engine works right now (and probably ever will – as it ’s already at it ’s limits).

Yeah – they seriously need to do something about that. I agree that the shoulders should be scaled correctly for different sized characters, but it looks nice all the same. Anet could learn something from WoW’s servers then, because I can pretty much guarantee that nearly every level 75-90 has particle effects on their shoulders, and the servers carry probably twice as many people as Anet’s.

The sole reason people don’t go to this zone is because the mobs are a kitten to kill. The only mob I hate other than karka are Dredge.

That isn’t the only reason. The primary reason is because there is no increased reward for fighting the increased difficulty. I for one would kill harder mobs if they had better loot tables. They don’t.

^ That is exactly the reason people don’t go to difficult places anymore. The rewards in this game drastically need to be increased, I mean, come on, 2 silver for completing a level 80 event? I don’t know what others think about this, but I don’t do events anymore because they just aren’t worth the effort. I’d definitely come back to GW2 if they added better rewards. 15/20 silver per event would bring me back for sure. And exotics…. oh my gosh… one per 2500 hours played is NOT ENOUGH. And no, Anet, I do not want to collect rares and gamble with the Mystic Forge to get an exotic.

Tl:dr – better rewards means I’ll come back to gw2.

Why else would you bring one along? They have utility and decent damage… but if you didn’t want utility and you wanted a mage what would stop you from bringing an elem?

You just gave two perfectly valid reasons to bring a mesmer along. The point I think you’re missing with this game is that all of the classes are viable classes in most areas of the game. It’s a rather limited view to just say that class X is only good for Y.

I’ve done every dungeon in this game numerous times and most of the time I’m not too picky about which classes I bring along. It’s more of a hit or miss situation if you’re PUGing it and I can understand being more careful about who you bring in those situations.

That said, I’ve had groups succeed brilliantly in fractals at level 48 with non-standard group makeups and I’ve succeeded and failed with “perfect” group makeups. A lot of the effectiveness of a class comes down to how well an individual person understands their build, class, and the mechanics of the game. You could have the “perfect” cookie cutter build and still fail horribly if you don’t understand how to play it or specific dungeon mechanics.

I’ve encountered plenty of guardians, for example, that drop faster than most elementalists. The gut reaction from a lot of players in that situation might be “the class is broken/why are we so vulnerable?” And to that I’d say that they need more experience playing the class to know what works well and what doesn’t.

Ranger is good for nothing. Ranger is only good for PvP. I win.

If Anet released more armor that looked like the Radiant Mantle, I would play this game a lot more, but it seems like Anet is allergic to gear that looks nice. Playing WoW for a few years, then coming to Guild Wars 2, I was shocked and quite nearly disgusted at the gear in GW2. You go from gear that you think looks amazing in WoW, to skirts, robes, leather coats, and chain-mail in GW2. Guess it’s just a matter of opinion though, because my friends like the skimpy armor they wear in GW2, while I think it looks like garbage.

I agree, but unfortunately I don’t think Anet really thought this idea through very much, but just went straight for the “No tank, no healer” type of game, which means that all classes will do roughly the same damage. I really don’t understand Anet’s idea of NOT having a tank/healer/dps type game, because that was a perfect set up for groups in the first place. In WoW, you actually had to look for a tank or a healer and it was actually fun to see how different people performed at those specific roles. In GW2, it’s only DPS, DPS, and more DPS, which really gets boring and repetitive after awhile.

Anyway, it’s been like this since GW1. I created a Ranger and was seriously disappointed with how little damage he did. Rangers were considered the “Jack of all trades” back then, so they were decent at most things, but could never be the best.

Character Bonding Experience...?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Galtrix.7369

Galtrix.7369

I don’t feel a bond with any of my characters, because I feel like I’m forced to play in berserker’s gear with a specific weapon for each class. Examples: My elementalist pretty much had to play D/D because it was the only viable build at the time D/D was popular. After D/D was over, Anet buffed the staff a bit, so now staff is pretty much the only viable option for Elementalist. Same with my Ranger. I wanted to play with a longbow so badly, but it got nerfed into the ground so I had to play with the shortbow, no matter how much I disliked using it.

This is what is preventing me from bonding with any of my characters. The lack of paths I can take to customize my character. I feel like I could have spent millions of hours customizing my character in WoW because there was so much armor to choose from. SO MUCH! I admit, I was very disappointed when I came to Guild Wars 2 and there wasn’t much armor at all to choose from.

But it’s not just the armor, it’s the fact that I could choose to be a tank, a healer, or a dps in WoW, but I feel like Anet has reduced this to strictly Dps or nothing. I honestly feel like I could bond a lot more with my characters if I could 1) Customize my armor A LOT more. 2) Actually choose how I can play my character. 3) Actually be able to choose a class role. I realize that Anet wanted to move away from class roles, and I hate to say this, but it’s just not working. Sure it’s more of a challenge, but it defeats the purpose of working in a group when you’re all dps and die easily.

If these things were done, I’d feel more of a bond with my character.

It is a matter of perception I guess- I do play how I would like

for example:

I have played my Mesmer as a Condition build in full carrion gear since launch.
My Ranger plays with a Longbow and I love it- well she plays LB/SB
My Engi runs pistols/FT and grenades in Rampager’s gear
I play my Ele with a scepter/focus atm

I have never payed attention to whatever build is currently popular and I play my characters exactly how I want to- they are all viable and more importantly they are all fun to play.

Fair enough, I should’ve clarified though: When I said viable, I meant the best build. If this was truly a game that you could customize in and play how you want to play, then shouldn’t the scepter/focus do just as much damage as the staff when you have the same glass cannon build for both? Nope. The gap in damage when I switched from staff to scepter/focus was so horrid that I almost instantly switched back to staff. It was that big of a difference.

I actually play LB/SB with my Ranger as well, but I feel like I should be using the longbow all the time instead of spamming #2, #3, and #5 and then switching to shortbow for the rest of the fight to do decent damage.

Well its RNG u should keep ur money if u dont wanna throw it u know that right? For 500 exo u have precursor…

Yes, I know that, thank you. I was quitting the game anyway and decided to finally try to get a precursor by buying and tossing in all the rares/exotics I could buy. Anet’s RNG has to be broken – because if I toss that many items into the MF without getting a single precursor, and then someone else gets 3 precursors with 100g, there’s an issue here. I’d have better luck getting a legendary weapon in WoW, and that was notoriously difficult.

Congrats, I just dumped 2k+ rares and 500+ exotics into the Mystic Forge TODAY, and got…. nothing. I’ve probably dumped over 10k rares into the MF and I’ve never gotten a precursor. Screw the RNG, this game is broken. And this is why I’m going back to WoW. When I can try for 8+ months and get no precursor, but someone can get 3 precursors without batting an eye, there’s an issue with the game. I’m going back to WoW where I actually get rewarded well for the time I spend enjoying the game.

Seriously though, play Guild Wars 2 for a week, then come to WoW and you’ll realize you never should’ve left WoW in the first place, because Blizzard does everything better than Anet.

I’ve gotten absolutely no lodestones… here comes another one of Anet’s apologies for “accidentally” nerfing the drop rate on precious drops. I’m getting really tired of these accidental nerfs to things that I actually want to farm once in a blue moon. I think I’ll go play some WoW where they have a steady drop rate.

While I would normally agree with you…I must say I tried out WoW and their economy is so screwed up I am not sure if it’s funny or not…

I agree, the economy is pretty screwed up, but not nearly as screwed up as Guild Wars 2 is at the moment. The economy for Anet’s games has been terrible since Guild Wars 1, so I’m extremely tired of it. Honestly, If I don’t want to participate in WoW’s economy, I really don’t feel obligated to do so. In GW2, I feel like I HAVE to participate to stay with everyone else. I can’t just sell my items to a vendor for what they’re worth, I have to go through the AH to do trading.

Wow’s economy tends to fluctuate from bad to good and vice versa a lot, which is better than GW2’s constant bad economy at least. And I just decided to quit, so I bought about 2k rares and 500 exotics and went to the Mystic forge to see if I could get a precursor before I quit… nope. There’s a serious issue when I can dump that many rares and exotics into the MF with no precursor given to me at all. I’m so done with this game, it isn’t even funny.

If Guild Wars 1 was half the game Guild Wars 2 is, more people might still be playing it.

Oh. Really. Last release for GW1 was EOTN, in 2007. For 4plus years, GW1 soldiered on with no added major content, making enough money to help fund the making of GW2. People bought GW1 knowing that there were no plans to expand it further, and still do. GW1 is still up and running, now 5 plus years with no expansion or campaign.

I think we all get that you hated GW1. Fine. But snotty statements like the one above are unjustified and petty. I cannot imagine very many MMOs, including this one, that could survive.. and still be running… 5 years after the last major content expansion and announcement that there would be no more.

You delight in bashing a game that was basically put on minimum life support to make this one, and then blame the game? If it was “half” the game this one is, it would have never survived, and yet, it did and does.

Quite honestly, I can imagine the number crunchers at ANET/NCsoft are praying that GW2 is half the game GW1 is in terms of customer loyalty and longevity.

Actually, Vayne quite frequently posts that he liked GW1, so you can’t make that accusation. He just ALSO likes GW2 and feels that in many ways they have improved on an already good formula. So saying this is ridiculous.

Also, his comment isn’t petty or snotty as you describe. It is, if you look at what he’s quoted, a direct response to another poster, inverting that poster’s comment. If anything, the original poster made the “snotty” comment, and Vayne turned it on his head, exactly to prove what a ridiculous comment it was to make.

So please read it again.

My comment was snotty? It’s an opinion, much like Vayne’s. Neither of our posts was snotty, they’re all just opinions. It wasn’t a ridiculous comment either. You read it again, and again, and again until you can understand it, because obviously you don’t, and you obviously didn’t play Guild Wars 1, so you’re opinion here is obsolete.

@Vayne I respect your opinion, but feel that Guild Wars 2 could’ve taken a lot more of the better aspects of Guild Wars 1. Tons of my friends that played GW1 tried GW2, and hated it with a passion. I realize that GW2 is different, but they seemed to have learned nothing about what worked in GW1 and didn’t incorporate any of the good stuff into GW2. That’s my friend’s and my opinion anyway.

This is getting tiring. And by “this”, I mean the intense, and ever-present lag. Normally, I don’t experience much lag, but every once in awhile, I’ll get a massive lag spike that kills me while I’m fighting because none of my skills are working while there’s lag. I never experienced even a slight bit of lag in any other game besides Guild Wars 2, which leads me to believe that it’s not an issue with my connection, but an issue with your servers. I literally cannot afford to die anymore, but the lag continues. This lag happens at least once every 15 minutes, and I’m not the only one experiencing the lag. I have asked multiple people in my guild and they all said that they get the same lag. Unfortunately, I go back to WoW every time I lag and die because I can’t take it anymore, and WoW doesn’t lag me into oblivion every time I try to fight. Please fix this soon.

I have all professions with all skills unlocked. How do you know that the game will be more unbalanced with new skills? How do you know they wont continue balancing the skills? Because you dont like the latest patch?

We dont know that but we know one thing, having a choice is better than none. More skills = more builds for both PvE and PvP. Hell, engineers only get to use one elite skill. How long do you want to keep it that way? Give it a chance!

We know because this happened in Guild Wars 1 and they’re trying the exact same thing in Guild Wars 2: adding more skills. That’s the definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. The results will be the same as they were in guild wars 1 and all classes will be even more unbalanced because of it.

Take a look at your Ranger, now take a look at my Guardian. Don’t you wish you’re Ranger could look like me, a Guardian? He could look like me, talk like me, and even smell like me. Take a look at your silly little Engineer, now look at my Elementalist, then back to your Engineer. Now your Engineer is an Elementalist because you’ve decided you want to do more damage.

I can just imagine this happening when Anet decides to release more skills. Rangers and Engineers will be completely obsolete. Heck, they’re already pretty much obsolete already. Both classes will either reroll to a different class or quit altogether.

I’ve been playing a Ranger since Guild Wars 1, and by now, I can pretty much sense when the class is going to get nerfed or stay the way it is: terrible. I can tell you right now that Ranger’s aren’t going to get improved any time soon, and with the addition of new skills, I can already see the skills Rangers are going to get. “Meatshield: Throw yourself into oncoming enemies…. deals 2000 damage… to you. Deals 10 damage to enemies.” "Useless DPS: Throw your pet at enemies and shout “useless!!!” at it, but it permanently destroys your pet forever."

I’m almost not joking about this either. This is pretty much how useful our skills are already. Our pets just got a huge nerf in dps, and are basically useless, we didn’t get improved, but got NERFED when all other classes got buffs, and our Longbow (The weapon that Rangers are SUPPOSED to use at all times) is less useful than the freaking short bow.

There is no balance here. There was no balance to begin with. There will never be balance, unless Anet employees learn to use the force and start giving out lightsabers to all Rangers and Engineers. Then, and only THEN, will all of the classes be balanced.

One of the biggest issues in GW1 was character development/progress. There was none. This is what happens when you add that.

It wasn’t an issue in GW1. The fact that it didn’t exist in GW1 worked extremely well because it diverted the focus to the actual content and the actual story. I’m not saying GW2 shouldn’t have vertical progression though, different game targeted at a different market. I <3 both, but in all seriousness if you insult GW1 I will eat you

If Guild Wars 2 was half the game Guild Wars 1 was…. I would play a lot more than once every week. You actually got immersed in the story and got extremely excited when you completed something difficult. In GW2 though, you only need sheer numbers to overcome obstacles instead of coming up with your own build and seeing what works. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I killed Zhaitan with a freakin cannon when I had defeated Abaddon about a month before with my bare hands and a build that I had made and was proud of.

You people always seem to think that the devs are targeting your class specifically when it comes to nerfs, no matter what game you’re playing. I played a rogue in WoW and I was equal, or even better, compared to other classes. Granted, some complaints are worthwhile, like the complaints about the Ranger and the Engineer, but most like these are just constant dribble. In GW2, the thief is fine, even great. In SPvP, I can stealth, hit someone for nearly 10k damage, and then stealth and do it over again. This is where a lot of people, including myself, will say, “Learn to play”. Unless you’re a Ranger, or an Engineer, you have absolutely no right to complain. Anet could take a hint from Blizzard when it comes to balancing classes though.
