You’re not alone… I’ve had the same issue. If you run Task manager and select gw2 using the arrow keys, you can press the delete key to end the task.
I agree. I’m only at 6k AP, and I still think it’s stupid to have a daily/monthly cap. There’s literally no point other than to let casuals catch up… which isn’t going to happen at this point. There are people with 25,000+ AP and I really don’t mind if they get more AP.
Why is it ‘casuals’ that would catch up? Would ‘hardcores’ catch up? If one missed any available achievements in the past, ‘hardcore or casual’, would they catch up? Can a newer ‘hardcore’ catch up?
Assuming said hardcore players want to catch up, then they definitely could. There are enough permanent achievements in the game to get pretty dang far. Of course, those hardcore players would have to devote themselves to hunting every achievement thrown their way.
Alright, I’ve held off on writing a complaint about the amount of materials/currency building up on my characters for awhile… but I can’t keep it in anymore.
-Bloodstone dust
-Airship Oil
-Piles of Auric Dust
-Dragonite Ore
-Empyreal Fragments
-Airship parts
-Lumps of Aurillium
There are little to no sinks for these items, but we receive these items A TON and it’s driving me insane. I’m sorry, but to me, it’s a sign of an unpolished game when I am constantly handed useless loot. Acquiring bloodstone dust every time I open a chest is beyond disappointing… I truly feel disgusted every time I see it and I delete it immediately.
I have a couple of suggestions:
1. Decrease the amount of these materials we receive, or limit acquisition of the stuff to a specific area in Tyria.
2. Create an ascended vendor. Players could trade their material for gear/consumables/weapons/etc.
I’m open to other suggestions, as I did not put a lot of thought into mine.
Another thing that bugs me is the amount of currency in this game nowadays. It is truly ridiculous and confusing. I would be perfectly fine with 2 or 3 different currencies in a game, but GW2 needs its own webpage to list out all of its currencies. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Currency
Am I alone in this, or are there people like me?

I cannot agree more. It seems as though the reward doesn’t scale with the difficulty of the event. AB meta, sure…. but beyond that, you simply get a rare or two for completing an event. Regardless of difficulty.
To me, it breaks immersion when I don’t have to go on an epic adventure, scale a tall tower filled with enemies, or hop into a hardcore raid to acquire armor. All I have to do is whip out my wallet and buy it from the gemstore.
I really appreciate Anet’s effort to get rid of gear-grind, but the grind for gear is still there – it’s just for the cosmetic aspect.
I really wanted glowy-eyes from the gemstore, but I unfortunately work a ton and am therefore unable to afford them at the moment :/
I mean…i’m not specifically trying to be salty about it, but is there a point to the video? Any half-decent Daredevil does obscene damage and can survive a 1v1 as long as they choose to. Eventually any spec runs out of ‘oh kitten’ buttons and dies because you can never get rid of or pin down a DD. Maybe I’m missing something here.
Yeah you shouldn’t be dying to a DD 1v1…
If you’re beating DDs 1v1, you’re fighting terrible DDs. Unless the target can predict precisely when one will burst or run away, any decent one will bait CDs and burst a tiny bit before running away. That’s how all the decent DDs I’ve played against play. Bait, burst, run, repeat. Now in game, this is useless since you’re not going to get the point anytime soon, so it’s not like you actually need to practice fighting one playing like that.
Regardless, it’s incredibly easy to beat a DD 1vs1. I can’t think of a single class that I couldn’t use to pummel DD’s into the ground.
They’ve actually completely denied then an entire damage path. if you play necro, you have to play conditions.
As someone who played power necro from launch to HoT launch I’m going to play devil’s advocate here and point out that power necro is a more viable build for necro than burn builds are for guardian.
I don’t think comparing a subpar build with another is a proper argument here.
Ele have been a support class for a very long time. Same for Hambow Warriors and Bunker Guards way back when. Pretty much every profession have been limited to 1 play style. Every profession has been treated the same. It’s just how the meta is at the moment.
Except every profession can have multiple viable builds nowadays. I just made up a few builds for my warrior and my mesmer…. and I completely wrecked in PvP today. Neither build was “meta” – far from it in fact.
I don’t know why it wasn’t added in the first place. It was such a convenient item in GW1 that I can’t believe it wasn’t in GW2 at the very beginning.
It’s difficult to know whether to report these players or not. On one hand, they could be a complete noob and simply not know how the meta event works. On the other hand, they could be doing it on purpose.
I was at an AB meta once, and all of the sections were low except for south. So we simply told everyone not to kill their octos until our side was low too. A couple seconds later, one player from north decided it would be okay to push the bomb into the octo and kill it himself, effectively ruining the event for everyone else. South wasn’t able to finish in time, and we received no good loot.
To be honest, I think it’s kind of bad design that one player can ruin an event that requires tons of people to complete. That just begs for trolls/jerks/noobs etc.
Apparently you aren’t that far into GW2 yet. Everything worth a crap in this game is time-gated.
Anyway… I play because it’s fun to hang out with other people. And you can actually do that in this game. GW2 encourages group play.
I’d just throw them away if I were you. There are plenty of materials that simply build up in the bank without any sinks ever being made for them… I’m looking at you, ascended mats. I can see bandit death marks also having the same lack of use as the ascended mats.
Phh. Apparently an ascended drop wasn’t worth replacing. Thanks guys. I think I’ll take a long break from this game.
Did you try contacting support?
Twice…. on two different subjects and I still haven’t received a response
No patience, it has even been barely a day since the servers came back and you are whining about not getting a reply.
My my, aren’t you quick to judge. One of my emails was sent 6 days ago.
1. Those controls would be way too complicated for its own good. I would take one look at those controls and then I would quit forever.
2. As already stated, a major engine overhaul would be required.
3. It’s not very cost efficient to have to pay a console network fee every few months. Ultimately it would cost more to play GW2 on the console than on the computer.
Congratulations? The only reason there was a surge is because of the Living Story being released + the HoT discount. I’d say you’re just proving the point of the naysayers. If GW2 needs new content in order to keep a decent amount of revenue, that supports the naysayer’s point.

I found a roach in my cake today, but I’m not going to ask for compensation or anything because the cake tasted good.
That’s about how ridiculous the people sound who are saying they don’t want compensation.
I saw GW2 wasn’t working, so I went to play GW1.
GW1 wasn’t working, so I went to play Call of Duty.
Call of duty wasn’t working, so I went to play LoL.
After one person leaving in each pre-match for 6 games, I went to watch netflix.
Video games suck sometimes.
Hi! I’d like to join
I lost an ascended chest piece, and a few mats, but those don’t matter much.
Ouch. This definitely sucks.
It’s right before the patch hits, so it only 2 hrs and 20 mins lost time.. at least it’s not a week worth.
Yes, but for anyone that farmed a lot during that time (like myself), it definitely sucks that this had to happen. I’m glad that Anet caught the bug though…. that would’ve been much worse to have it go unnoticed for an entire week.
Ouch. This definitely sucks.
Just to comment, There are 58 armor sets in this game. 7 are gemstore
List of armor setsTransmutation charges are free and available in game if you’re willing to do what’s needed. I have about 70 currently and haven’t ever bought even one from the gemstore.
The black lion chests are goody bags. They are a random selection of low value items and the very rare high value items. If you don’t like them then don’t buy keys. Never buy items you aren’t satisfied with.
Costumes are released through the gem store, true. However imo that’s a valid cosmetic item to have. They put them in there in place of the armor that they no longer put in the gemstore.
The Lving Story is free to everyone who bothered to spend one minute logging in every couple of weeks. That’s hardly an onerous burden if you’re playing the game. Of course you’ll need to buy the expansion if you want to play the Season 3 living story. How else can people get to new maps where the instances are located?
Costumes are indeed a valid cosmetic item in the gemstore. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not the fact that costumes are being sold in the gemstore…. it’s the fact that nearly all costumes/armor is released through the gemstore and not in-game. We’ve had a couple new armor pieces. And for those, I am grateful. But we’ve received little in the way of new armor that we can actually get in-game. You have to go through the gemstore. And I’m not talking about armor that was released at the start of GW2.
If you have trans-stones, congrats. But getting them is tedious if you’re a casual player and you’re pretty much forced to buy them if you want to transmute an entire armor set.
If you want achievement points because weapons/armor is locked behind chests, you either buy a ton of Black Lion Chest keys, or you farm for 7000+ hours for keys. That’s pay to progress if I’ve ever seen it. I don’t think I made myself entirely clear on this point. It’s not the Black Lion Chests that bother me. It’s the fact that achievements were so obviously locked behind a gem purchase.
And finally – for people with demanding jobs, it’s difficult to log into the game consistently. I have time when I have time. Anet has shown that they can bring back the Living Story as a playable instance, yet chooses to lock that behind a pay-wall as well. It sure seems like everything I want to do or obtain in this game is locked behind some wall of payment.
Guild Wars 2 most definitely isn’t Pay-2-win. It is, however, Pay-2-progress, which is even worse.
The simple problem is that the amount of cash-grabs in this game is beyond ridiculous and people don’t even realize it. Most people I know actually spend more on GW2 than a subscription-based MMO because of this.
-When Anet added the transmogrification system, they added transmogrification stones. This isn’t such an obvious cash-grab, seeing as how these stones can be earned in-game without spending money, but they are rare enough that they push you to buy them with gems.
-Nearly all armor skins/costumes are released through the gem-store. This one makes me angry, simply because it completely breaks all immersion. No, you don’t go on a quest to get awesome-looking armor, no you don’t slay any enemies…. you simply have to buy your armor on the gemstore because none gets released in-game.
-Achievement points were locked behind armor skins attainable only through Black Lion Chests, which you have to pay gems for.
-Previous LS content being locked and then sold back to you for gems. What.
-The drop rate for rare skins/good items in Black Lion Chests is utterly abysmal… therefore causing you to buy more in order to get what you want.
…and many more that I’ve forgotten over the past few years.
I absolutely love this game, but the amount of cash-grabs that have been added has made me quit multiple times. It’s definitely not Pay-2-win, but if you want to get that new armor skin, new weapon, new anything, it’s going to cost you gems….
This has been brought up thousands of times, and nothing has been done as of yet.
Night elves, humans, draenei, blood elves, trolls, tauren, goblins, worgen, orc, undead, pandaren, gnomes, and dwarves. I don’t know about you, but I’ve never heard anyone complain about the lack of armor or variety of armor in WoW… and they have many, many more races than GW2 has.
It’s not the races in GW2 that slow down the production of armor. If I had to guess, I would say the reason we receive so little armor additions is because Anet is spread too thin. One of the developers mentioned that it takes upwards of 9 months to create one armor set in GW2… and meanwhile Rift, Lineage, WoW, Aion, and many more MMO’s (including F2P) pop out an armor set every couple of months. The only logical explanation is that the armor people at Anet are working on something else.
These days, with all the stability and boons, I say leave it as is. If I couldn’t Moa, I would quickly get tired of the noobs that build bunker sitting on points when neither of us can kill each other.
Yeah, a team-deathmatch mode would be kinda fun and more balanced.
Nah, it’s not worth it. Unless the waypoints were removed, I don’t see mounts being added ever.
The goal is to make as many gw2 players quit as possible. HOW players are made to quit… Anet gets quite creative there… and those that would still stay, they get driven off by other pvp players.
Welcome to GW2’s endgame mode… it will certainly end for you there
I agree
Yup, I’m with you there.
Count yourself lucky that your family cares about you so much. My family just goes to their separate corners and does whatever they want… not even coming out of their hidey-holes to say hi to me.
I’ve noticed since coming back (after a 2+ year break) that PvP really is toxic nowadays. People just sit there and afk, they don’t talk to you, they insult you when you beat them… it’s ridiculous.
My problem with PvP is that there’s no way to effectively keep the noobs out of PvP. I’ve been stuck in Emerald for the past couple days simply because my teammates don’t communicate/and or don’t even speak English. It seems the only way to avoid this now is to create your own team.
I’ve had lots of guildies ask me recently how to win ranked games, and the answer is always the same. I tell them to join a pre-made because match-making doesn’t work.
The match-making system is fine for unranked games if you just want to have fun, but it tends to average out over time. I’ve tested this a couple times, and by no means is this “scientifically proven”, but it’s just my experience with the system. I played 10 ranked games using the match-making system. Of those 10, I lost 4 and won 6. I then played another 10 games where I lost 7 and won 3. After a break, I played another 10 where I won 6 and lost 4.
Using a pre-made, I did the same test. I played 10 games, won 10 games. I played another 10 games, won 8 and lost 2. I played another 10 games, won 6 and lost 4.
My conclusion is: Using the match-making system is pointless in ranked. It’s just a big circle of endless torment where you try desperately to win, and you can, but it ultimately brings you back down. Use a pre-made.
Yeah, Dragon Hunters are pretty darn ridiculous. It was so ridiculous that I created a DH just so I could win… and literally all you have to do is sit there and smash your hands on your keyboard and you’ll kill the nearest poor creature that wanders into your death traps.
What I don’t understand is the fact that F2P games put out armor sets all the time with no issues. I can’t speak for all F2P mmo’s, but Rift, Lineage, and Runes of magic have put out multiple armor sets in less than a couple months.
And then (I can’t remember who said it), one of the devs says that armor takes up to 8 months to develope and that it’s extremely expensive. It just doesn’t add up unless they’re lacking the people to do it.
Passive vs. passive? Am I missing something here?
They’ve already added the “Specializations”, which is a clever way to adjust your class to a different one at any time. Adding another class-changing option would simply be too complicated for its own good.
I do like the good/neutral/evil suggestion. To be honest, I expected GW2 to have it already when I bought it – simply because of the personal story. It seemed pointless to me to have a personal story where every choice you make ultimately adds up to you killing Zhaitan. Could you imagine how cool it would be if you were able to join him?
A certain number of classes are always wanted in raids. Raids don’t really require you to have a good playstyle, but they require you to move according to where the boss is at what time and what aoe’s are being dropped on your position. Since it’s a team effort, individual classes don’t really make a huge difference.
PvP on the other hand… it’s quite a mess at the moment. Dragon Hunters are simply overpowered. I created one myself, just to see how overpowered they were, and I wreck everything in sight. On the opposite end, thieves are terrible nowadays. They were meant to be “Get in, get out” classes, yet they can’t do that anymore. The rest of the classes are currently in the middle, in between DH and Thieves.
For PvE, classes are extremely well-balanced.
WvW is the same as PvP.
I’d like to join!
Start being casual. Don’t log in every single day, or even every other day. And when you do log in, only play for a short amount of time (maybe do a couple dungeon runs or a fractal).
The most important thing is, when you don’t feel the urge to log in, don’t log in.
lol when a feature looks like a bug. Thankfully i have no reason to play this season.
Yeah, they could’ve made a nice-looking interface for that where it actually gives you a box that says, “Stay with team or leave?”.
They think randoms would fall in love after a match and make another competitive ESL team.
KEK
Well, the first ranked PvP match this season I played with a bunch of randoms and we ended up playing together for another 10+ games because we just kept winning. That definitely could have been something had I not had to go somewhere… I should’ve added them to my friends list.
I solo’d a couple Fractals in Soldiers gear…
It’s really not as difficult as the above posts make it out to be.
It’s to give you a chance to join your teammates for another PvP match. I really don’t think it’s a bug.
Fine as is right now
Please explain how these are fine.
-the OVERWHELMING number of passives on every class
-the lack of build diversity
-elementalist pretty much getting deleted from PvP as it has no other build options
-condi spam faceroll chronomancer
-Reapers that can put insane condi damage while still being a tanky hp pool.
-passive tank bruiser scrapper that is almost unkillable 1v1 (assuming the scrapper isnt completely brain dead)
-Bristleback and Smokescale being the only used ranger pets
-perma evade condi thief
-condi warrior with insane condi damage and passives and regen for days
-dps DH trapper with heals and blocks like a bunker
-Revenants with evades and blocks on almost everythingBut nope! PvP is fine. (sarcasm)
Condi-spam faceroll Chronomancer? I main a Chronomancer and I can tell you I don’t deal nearly the amount of damage as other classes. Literally the only reason a Chronomancer exists in PvP is to distract the other team until your teammates can kill them. That, or you can use blink and quickness to capture points and then vanish away when the enemy approaches.
As far as I know, there is no limit to the number of ancient logs you can harvest in a day (as there is for, say, blooming passiflora), so I don’t get it.
There is definitely a daily maximum amount of times you can harvest all T6 resources on a per map per character basis, just like passiflora and other resources in Southsun. There is a limit on mithril/elder wood in Southsun. There may be a much higher limit on all resources as demonstrated by bloodstones in the new zone, but T6 and Southsun are the most noticeable. After you’ve reached the cap, all nodes of that type will appear as already harvested and not show on your minimap.
Rich nodes in the same map also have a cap, but seem to count towards a different value than the standard nodes, again most easily seen by harvesting mithril in Southsun.
…. do you happen to have a source for this? Maybe I don’t mine/harvest/chop enough, but I’ve never run into a resource-cap.
I’m sure this has been brought up multiple times, but I am always asked to leave my current map because “There are only a few people playing on your map”, although there are normally tons of people on my map when I am asked to switch to a different one.
Switching wouldn’t be so bad if it actually worked, but if I hit yes, I am sent to a map with literally one or two people in it, when I could’ve stayed on the previous one and had hundreds.
Is this a bug? Because it’s obviously not intended to work that way… otherwise it wouldn’t tell me there are too few people on my map and send me to a map with even fewer people. If it’s known, is it being worked on?
Very constructive criticism. When you come back in the future to post another “I’m Leaving” thread, make sure to state why you are leaving and why the game is dying.
