My main is a Ranger. Not any harder than any other profession. I have leveled them all to 80 and Ranger is actually the easiest because of its simplicity. Sit at range with a longbow , command pet to attack first and Boom , easy peasy mode.

I easily get groups for dungeons all the time. I can get into CoF, Arah, Fotm, and CoE no problem……. My zerker dps is as high if not higher than a GS war zerker. You obviously don’t know how to play Ranger Galtrix, no offense. Feel free to reply with disgust if you like.

Haha, I’m not one of those people that sends hate messages over a forum. But I have played a Ranger since Guild Wars 1 and have experimented with many, many builds for years. I basically studied Rangers in Guild Wars 1 and I continued that obsession in Guild Wars 2, but couldn’t get the same effect as I did in GW1. I found that the Ranger’s damage is the second worst in the game, only above Engineers. But opinions are opinions.

If you truly are serious about wanting the game to be harder, level an Elementalist and try not to die while completing personal story and doing dungeons.

Better games exist for pvp.

Like what? Warhammer closed servers and private server doesn’t yet work that well so i can’t think any better games.

World of Warcraft, Aion (Because of the flight factor), Runes of Magic (Because of the GvG castle defense factor), League of Legends, Rift (The combat is much more fluid and you can actually play multiple game modes and stuff), Allods, and heck even Fiesta has better PvP. And I absolutely despise that game.

Why do you not play sPvP?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Galtrix.7369

The reason I don’t play SPvP often is because it is completely separate from PvE. What I mean by that is: You don’t get rewarded in PvE for stuff you did in PvP – and SPvP feels like a completely different game from Guild Wars 2.

WvW rewards you by giving you coins and armor you can wear in PvE, but SPvP gives you nothing except rewards for SPvP. That’s the reason I don’t play SPvP often. Plus, SPvP feels so unrewarding that I can only play a game or two before I have to go back to PvE.

Dead Servers and Transfer Costs

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I really tried to stick with Gate of Madness because I didn’t want to add to the chaos by transferring to a higher population server. It finally got to the point where I just decided to delete all of my characters and transfer to Tarnished Coast because I could NOT find a single person in GoM ever.

I stuck with GoM for about 4 months because I was really hoping there would be a server merge or something like that, but I finally just transferred to TC and I enjoyed actually seeing people run around. I guess the only answer is to transfer to a high population server and let the other servers rot away and die.

For the love of all that is good, do NOT use the forge. At first you’ll throw in a couple rares, and then you’ll move on to exotics, and before you know it, you have thrown in your firstborn child, your wife, and the deed to your house….. all for the sake of a slim chance to see a precursor.

Feel free to feed Trahearne to the forge, but I don’t think even the forge would take him as Trahearne would start taking credit for any precursors that pop out.

Seriously though, just save up all your money to buy it off of the TP. I lost thousands of gold to that stupid forge.

I think I was at about 1,400 hours when I got bored, so about where you are. Some games aren’t for everyone, but if you really want to see the game succeed and you want to stick with it, take a long break and come back to see what’s changed. I haven’t played in about 3-4 months, and I’m not going to play for about another 2 years… but after that 2 years is up, I’ll be coming back to see what has changed for the better.

Just play some Zelda, Grand Theft Auto, World of Warcraft, Rift, or other games. There’s a lot to choose from. Once you get bored of all the other games, then come back to GW2.

GW1 players are a minority?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Galtrix.7369

Seems pretty true to me. I’m a Guild Wars 1 player and I quit Guild Wars 2 within a few months. All of the people in my Guild Wars 1 guild moved to Guild Wars 2, and none of them log in anymore. It’s the same with my friends, they don’t log in either.

It seems like Guild Wars 1 players were used to the best, and then they moved to a mediocre game (compared to GW1) and were disappointed with it, so they moved on. This is one of the reasons that I quit (among a few hundred reasons).

Gears = everything. I didn’t exclude staves. Those cited are just for demonstration purpose. Swords are as good as they are? http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Rusttooth

Ah, I see. I agree with you that the gear designs need to be drastically improved. As it stands, I do not like 95% of the armor/weapons in GW2. I don’t like the fact that Anet sticks with robes for light armor, trench-coats for medium, and chain armor for heavy. There definitely needs to be a lot more variety in the skins than a simple change in robe/trench-coat/chain design.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

What I don’t get is that Anet wants capes to be completely free of clipping issues, yet my Primeval armor on my Ranger in GW1 stabs holes in my cape every single time I move. Even when I don’t move, the left glove still stabs through the cape.

Take a look at this Ranger and all of his glorious sharpness.

At this point, I don’t care if my character clips through the cape at all…. I just want a cape!

Artwork > vs game theme ?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Galtrix.7369

Galtrix.7369

The only thing I can think of when I see artwork in this game is how terribly placed everything is. When I walk through a forest, it doesn’t feel like a forest because the trees are so sparse. I also hate how there is a clear path through the forest in Queensdale, yet there is a tree right in the middle of the path, growing right on the dirt. I can’t remember where, but I also saw a rock right in front of a cave and the only way to get into the cave was to hop over the rock.

Villages don’t feel like villages, and cities don’t feel like cities because all of the npc’s are so weirdly placed.

You’re not alone, I also get the “This is just another MMO” feeling.

The problem for me is that there is barely any lore behind anything, and barely any depth to the stories that are presented to me. I can’t take any races in this game seriously because one race is a furball, one race is made of leaves, and another looks like a rat with massive ears. I feel like I’m playing a little kid’s game when I actually do play. That’s the problem for me anyway.

PvP armor carried into PvE

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Galtrix.7369

Galtrix.7369

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/player-vs-player-rewards-roadmap/

Anet just announced their plans for improved PvP rewards. Among their most important announcements was this:

“In the months that follow, we will be working to eliminate the difference between PvP and PvE gear. Players will be able to earn gear in PvP that can be carried over to PvE and vice versa. This means that players who have carefully crafted their appearance in one area of the game will have a way to carry that look over to other areas of the game.”

“Even though we will be eliminating the distinction between PvP and PvE gear, gear in PvP will continue to not have stats. The armor and weapons you carry into PvP will be, like they are now, just for looks. Traits, skills, runes and sigils will still be different for PvP so you will continue to be able to have different builds in PvP and PvE.”

“Existing PvP skins will still have value with upcoming changes, so it benefits you greatly to continue filling out your collection.”

I know this is what I’ve been asking for for a very long time. What about you guys? Do you agree or disagree with this change? Do you see this improving or destroying what’s left of the SPvP minority, and do you see this improving PvE at all?

Anet’s thought process:

If it’s hard, don’t do it.
If it takes time, don’t do it unless there’s profit to be made.
If there’s no profit, don’t do it.
If it’s hard, but there’s still money to be made, do something easier.

The point of a game is to have fun while playing it. Do you have fun not spending money on cool things such as armor skins, new weapons, backpieces, and other cool miscellaneous items? Because I sure don’t. I don’t want to waste my time saving up money like I do in real life… I play games to escape from real life, not have another real life where I save up money for retirement. That’s why I decided I never wanted to make a legendary: or even start one for that matter.

I’m going to give the opposite response to your original post: Play games the way they were meant to be played. Play for fun.

Believe it or not, WoW actually did release new armor sets every week for quite awhile, though I don’t remember the exact date that they started and the date they finished adding armor.

I played it for almost 4 years and never saw anything even approaching that. The most I ever saw was 2x a year. And you couldn’t even dye it.

I’m speaking about the very beginning of WoW. They released new armor every week for a couple of months and then suddenly stopped. It was like a 3 or 4 months after the initial release that this occurred. Yeah, Blizzard really dropped the ball on the new armor sets. I was disappointed because I expected so much after what they tried to accomplish.

Do you spend more on gems than a sub?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Galtrix.7369

Galtrix.7369

No, but even if I did it wouldn’t matter. In gw2, you pay and get stuff in return. In sub based games you pay just to be able to keep playing. Big difference.

You get what you pay for in GW2. In sub based games, you pay and you get much better, bigger updates than you would get in GW2. Not to mention in sub-based mmo’s, you also get new armor released practically every week. I don’t pay for armor skins in Guild Wars 2, I don’t get armor skins. I pay for everything in sub-based games, and new things aren’t withheld from me like in GW2.

Out of interest which MMOs do this? I’ve heard a few people on this forum say that sub-based MMOs regularly release new armor sets for free (although I assume you have to buy/earn them in-game), at least one person said it’s normal to get 1 set every week or two, with unique artwork for each race/gender combination. But I’ve never been able to find out which games they’re talking about.

Possibly because the only one I can find reliable info on is WoW, which apparently last had new content of any kind (not counting bug fixes) added back in September and before that it was May.

(On an unrelated note personally I’d rather pay and get what I paid for than pay in advance and get what I’m given whether I want it or not. Especially when I have the option to not pay, get nothing new and keep playing what I’ve already got. Whereas with a sub game if you don’t pay you can’t even play the content you’ve already purchased.)

Believe it or not, WoW actually did release new armor sets every week for quite awhile, though I don’t remember the exact date that they started and the date they finished adding armor.

Rift also did it pretty frequently, but they’ve stopped creation of new armor at the moment, and are instead favoring new weapons/dungeons/mounts and such. Runescape did it, Runes of Magic is currently doing it (if what my friend said is true), SWTOR tried to do it, but gave it up when they went free-to-play, Talisman Online is currently doing it, and Perfect World did it for a very short amount of time.

My opinion is that I pay 15 dollars per month and get 4x the amount of content that I get from playing a free-to-play or buy-to-play mmo. I get armor, new weapons, new mounts, and to top it off, content on top of that. I feel like 10 dollars per costume in the gem store is a little high considering 15 dollars a month in a sub-based mmo will get me like 3 new armor sets, weapons, AND content. If the costumes in the gem store were, say, 3 dollars, then my opinion would be different.

Worth coming back?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Galtrix.7369

Galtrix.7369

It really depends. I had a few level 80’s that were fully geared up and I had nothing left to do and wasn’t interested in completing the so called “Living Story”. I quit the game and deleted all of my characters.

Just this past week I have been interested in getting back into the game because of the really cool armor skins that have been created. Yet, there are many things preventing me from getting back into the game at all. In fact, those things repulse me so much. Among those things are: Transmutation stones (I’d have to farm for about 13 hours straight just to get enough money to buy the transmutation stones I’d need), the gem store itself (The armor is released STRICTLY through the gem store and not given to a merchant to sell to us for gold or karma), Leveling (Leveling has become such a chore that I don’t have the time or patience anymore to level another character to 80 just so I could look cool), and the Living Story (The LS is still lame, and will continue to be lame until permanent content is given through the LS).

If you’re like me and these things repulse you, don’t play. If you have more patience and time than I do, you might like to come back and try some of the new things there are to do. (Mini-games, activities, new Living Story stuff).

I haven’t bought a single gem since the release of the game, and I still have yet to see a drop that’s more expensive than 2 gold on the TP.

The so called “Account tag” where certain accounts are tagged with better MF than other accounts is certainly plausible though. Accounts with good luck continue to have great luck while accounts with bad luck continue to have terrible luck.

The endgame has always been through the gem store. Why else do you think the only armor we’ve gotten has been in the gem store? Profit, obviously. If they released ANY armor without using the gem store, they’d lose profit. It’s annoying that the only armor that’s released is through the gem store. Since endgame revolves around cosmetics, and full armor sets are strictly released through the gem store, it’s safe to say that th endgame is the gem store.

there are no trinity roles here. and game was advertised as such

and there is no reason to buff healing, as it would have negative effect on pvp and wvw

imo – in pve healing is just for learning purposes – learning not to get damaged

and don’t bother ‘saving’ someone, you are doing bad favor for them. if you constantly save them, they will never improve

P.S. and you should specify that you mean ‘healing support’, because support in general is awesome in this game – 25might stacks, fury, swiftness, vigor.. etc, and it makes huge difference

I laugh at all berserkers like you, because I buff myself and heal myself while I watch you people basically throw yourselves at the enemy and blow yourself up into a thousand tiny pieces.

P.S: Keep going berserker in PvP, I love the free one-hit kills.

“I wanted to be unique”…No you didn’t. You wanted to own something expensive. There are dozens of armor pieces that are almost never worn. Yet most human casters are in T3.
I don’t find anything wrong with wanting to show off, but at least don’t hide it behind “I wanted to be a snowflake”.

500+ posts and they still have nothing to say…..

What do you honestly expect them to say ? This isn’t you throwing a fit at your kid and expecting them to say “sowwy we’ll fix it”. Because they can’t fix it. According to numerous posts, hundreds of players already own those armor. Anet isn’t going to take that away from them.

I’m not saying take the armor from them. I just want to hear from the devs, i cant help feel but all these people are being ignored.

You probably will not be getting a response. The devs are aware, they just don’t care. They’re making a ton of money off of the armor, so why would they care? I used to think that the devs actually did care about their game, but they just blatantly raised a middle finger to all of the humans that bought the tier 3 cultural armor with 150+ gold.

Thanks for that unwarranted insult. I’m not petty in the least toward people who choose to wear the new armor. I’m just warning him that he might get some hate for purchasing the armor skin that people spent hundreds of gold for.

No… you seem confused.

Why would anyone be petty over an armor skin that could have since forever, been bought with gems? Oh no he bought armor for less? Do these same people scowl at anyone who buys anything else on sale in the gemstore too?

Oh now its on fire!

We have received NO new armor in game since release, ALL new armor has been via gem store.

This is actually wrong…

I’m confused? People that have had tier 3 human cultural armor payed 119 gold for it. That’s the most expensive armor in the game. Now people can pay, what, 60ish gold for it? It’s not the discount I’m upset about… it’s the fact that the most prestigious armor in the game is now offered to everyone, not just humans, for gems. People who have tier 3 cultural armor have reason to complain. Not to mention, where is the Sylvari cultural armor for everyone? Where’s the Asura cultural armor for everyone? What about the Charr cultural armor?

And no, that is not wrong. You can’t say, “That is wrong” and leave it at that. Where’s your proof? As far as I know, not a SINGLE piece of armor has been added to the game without the use of the gemstore. Please come back with evidence.

Cool, now you can wear it on your norn. But be warned: People will hate you for purchasing it.

Not unless they are extremely petty.

(As you seem to be.)

I called this failure from the start. The second another mmorpg comes out that is slightly interesting, the playerbase will flock there. Hopefully the company that produces the MMO does not continuously throw recycled armor skins at their playerbase.

I truly hope you do get a refund. I was working toward my tier 3 human cultural armor but quit when I was about 82% of the way there. If I had purchased some of the cultural armor pieces, and Anet came up with the same skin in the gem store, I’d be in a flaming rage right now.
