You cant have traditional supports when everyone is forced into the same circle. There is no positioning there to keep them safe like there is in dota and lol and such. Ofcourse, with the absurd amount of teleports in this game, ‘lol@ grab bow, blink twice np’, positioning matters even less to begin with, so why wouldnt you grab crazy survivability or dmg instead?

There are no healers, so that kind of support is gone. What else is there? A CC spammer? I have found a surprising lack of ON DEMAND CC that people can trait for. Spirit Weapons are tied to the usual horribad AI pet system, my necro fear traits are all situational and passive on top of RNG with a 90 second cd. I guess one could make a good resser type character, but that still requires a lot of stability and CC, something not many classes have access too.

Getting actual support chars is going to take a lot of work. Even more so when no support will ever put out enough healing to overcome focus fire on either himself or an ally.

the server lists the max ppl that can be in the server, but it also has a max # of player that can play. so you will see 12/20 which may mean there are 8 slots to play in, or it may mean the server is full and there are 8 spectator slots. it is a bad system.

It takes just a little math by looking at the team size, but yeah it isnt optimal.

Yeah i think it might be possible to make rewards every 5 ranks instead of 10. The 10 minutes of barbie dress up with your new gear is quickly ruined when you realise the next 10 ranks will take over twice as long as all you played before.

Also showing us our rating would give us some incentive to increase it. Personally i dont care about some site with a leaderboard on it that shows my rank, let me show off my rating in game.

Its nothing personal. You have to understand that those ‘elitists’ are getting these kind of matches all day, you were just another statistic who as you admitted is mainly a pve player. Cant fault people for getting angry at the 100th rank 3 player of the day but you cant really be faulted either, if you want to do pvp and wear a title/commander badge you should. Try to suck it up until we get some solo queue.

Except 3 posts prior to yours that I quoted, I pointed out exactly the kittening opposite. Mug only does “insane” damage if you’re running extremely high power and satisfy the conditionals on a number of DPS oriented traits.

If you can’t make your point without ommitting facts, hyperbole, or just outright lying, it’s probably not worth making.

Also, as a side note, mug is a trait.

You omitted the fact its a minor 5 point trait.

That’s why 1vs1 in just stupid and worthless…if both at a decent skill level bunker spec with retaliation can’t lose vs a gc spec, cond dmg spec can’t lose vs bunker…and gc is going to lose vs both cond dmg and bunkers with 50\50 chance vs another gc…and this is how it works, sure skills matter but 70% is done by your traits…1vs1 proves nothing more than who has the best build for that paticoular fight 90% of the times..and you know you can just go hgh+bunker (Let’s say a shout bunker guardian spamming empower with staff…shall we?) 2vs2 too..have fun trying to beat that..

Oh come on not even ANET is dumb enough to balance around 1v1 and to give amazing prices for it, even though any price is totally useless anyway. And your argument of ‘the balance would be horrible’ isnt really fair because there hasnt been any balancing effort into it yet because it DOESNT EXIST.

Also anyone who thinks duels and small scale arenas arent going to make this game more popular than what it is now is frankly pretty kitten dumb. You dont fricking lose players by giving them more options. Another shocker: 5v5 isnt really inherently easier to balance than 3v3, since theres more players involved. Hell the current game mode already forces people to split up into smaller groups which is such a balancing nightmare if there was a way to facilitate these fights quicker and easier amirite. Do you guys even play this game? And LOL @ bunker guardian whine when there arent any points to defend. Why are you such a mesmer?

Maybe not 7k (which mesmer EASILY does now on shatter) but mug did 4k at the least. One of the hardest hitting abilities for an Ele is Firegrab, which misses easily and target has to be burning, and even on crit specced glass cannon, you might have gotten lower than 4k damage and NOWHERE near 7k. And I am talking semi-viable build(like current mesmer shatter) and not some kitten one trip pony.

Off topic, Firegrab does 10k+ damage if properly speced.

I think pushing for e-sport is a mistake too. Dont let people down twice. Dont assume they will all come back a third time when there is an expansion to be bought along with it. It boggles me mind how e-sport is the new buzz word around here, have people not been paying attention these last 9 months? They actually think a spectator mode is all that made people quit in droves and now we’re ready for lift off…amazing.

Ofcourse the remaining community is probably convinced this will be a success despite failing catastrophically before, since they are genuinely enjoying such an action packed super fun game as MW2, oh sorry i meant GW2.

It is much easier to fight 2 guys in the same time on guard or elem than on necro.

That’s because the class is too predictable. It has a high skill cap to learn but not actually a high skill ceiling once mastered.

You talking about ele and guard right? Because Necro have (next to engie) probably the highest skill ceiling, you know the fact how or class mechanics interact with cooldowns and control , a necro that times their DS and staff skill usage is 50 times better than a spammer, unlike in some other cases (not to diss on eles, but post learning the base combos you can pretty much just rotate around spamming everything in the right order and not give a toss, just you need to have like 4 arms).

Your last sentence about the ele actually counts for every single class in this game, they are all seriously braindead easy to learn. If anything its the ele you talked about that is the hardest to learn simply because of the cooldown tracking and number of skills and their synergy with eachother, instead of the necros slow activating abilities and stacking 3 different tiny fears to get any sort of duration out of them while you facetank in perpetual stunned mode.

When a thief can fear you for 3 seconds with 1 ability, and you can get a 3 second fear by putting staff, DS and corrupt boon on cooldown, is your skill cap really that much higher? Or are you just clunky outdated kitten? Is scepter really harder than Ele dagger? Hell, is our dagger really that much harder? Or is it just crappier?

I can use my (utility) skills half as many times as other classes can, fear my leet decision making skillz.

Well if, for whatever reason, they remove the downed state, I’d end up only ever playing my thief in PvP. It would be stupidly easy to kill everyone in 2-3 seconds. The downed state kind of stops that from happening at the moment.

Obviously removal of downed state would result in some portion of the lost hp to go to boosting hp pools. Having a downed state just makes people have these stupidly low hp bars, its why you only see bunker eles for instance. And its a very good deal for thiefs currently as you can stealth stomp anyway, with downed state acting as a failed anti burst mechanic.

Removing possibility of 2v1 againt anyone with a working brain, instant rallies, inherent balance issues, playing a paraplegic for extended periods of time, and long channels that immobilize you are just what an rpg that tries to be an action game needs.

Can engineers make wheelchairs for downed state please, my arms always seem to work at full capacity anyway. I take explosions to the face all day and end up with just broken legs everytime cool story anet

Not really, but then healing would still be a totally useless stat. It makes sense in that the deeper you cut, the more blood you draw, but it also makes sense for them to scale from the blood magic tree itself. Personally i would find a full power knight vampire necro totally awesome, and perhaps that could instead be achieved by putting some trait into our equally kittenty Spite tree.

What makes a downed necromancer unique, then, if a downed ranger out-damages them? What makes a downed engineer unique if a downed ranger has the potential for more devastating CC? And what makes warrior’s downed state unique if they simply have an equalizer effect (un-traited), while the downed ranger has the potential to actually revive fully?

This game is all just abilities slapped onto a class with very poor insight on the developers part. Dont try to find reasons for why things are as they are.

ok. Are you aware that this game has no healers and mana? And that this game doesnt have multiple 10 second CC abilities that make resetting much easier?

You honestly think forcing everyone in a circle is the only thing that forces fights? It doesnt make sense. If anything conquest forces fights that are unfair or where the object is not to kill but to do exactly what you whined about: wasting time.

And here’s another reason why going e-sport is a terrible idea: people are more excited by the number of viewers than the actual match itself:p :p

This is probably the first tournament in gw2 history and there is absolutely no match analysis whatsoever

. Part of it has to do with the “esport” bees who like to buzz at the slightest opportunity but the game also is a visual mess.

I don’t mind repeating issues that have been spotted almost 2 years ago, so here you go:

Why don’t anet lower the pace of the fights and decrease the effects so that everyone can have a better understanding as to what’s happening in team fights? It will allow players to better coordinate and shout casters to better comment.

You know you’ll find the right balance when people can actually write exciting match reports:p

This is basically what i posted with a whole lot less sarcasm. Which got removed. Anyway as to your suggestion.. less players and less capture points would help.. which sounds a lot like a system used by previous mmo’s that actually had a shot at e-sports.

In alpha there was a guy, Ensign, who has unparalleled insight into this game / everything. At minimum, he is at least as smart / insightful as you – though I would consider this to be an insultingly conservative estimate. He was a huge pvp figure in gw1, it was often joked that one of the top guilds was just him on 8 computers.

Ensign was in the alpha, well respected by all the players, and gave anet buckets upon buckets of great suggestions and analysis. Ensign was later kicked out of the alpha for being a negative influence since everyone agreed with what he wrote (you know, because it made sense). It wouldn’t matter if you were in alpha because the devs would never tell you anything more than “Yeah we’ll take that into consideration, cya”

Saying necro plague stomp is awesome is pretty stupid. Do you really think a necro would use their awesome elite that is great for group fights to just stomp one person? That’s ridiculous. No one will do that. Shroud stomping is only to keep your HP high without risking anything for the stomp. You’re still able to be feared and interrupted. The only really cool method to stomp as a necro is to drop your well of darkness so they’re blinded plus anyone who gets near you gets blinded and stomp.

I never said it was awesome, nor did I suggest that you blow plague solely for a stomp, that still doesn’t mean it isn’t possible to use it.

And Foot in the Grave gives you stability stomp every 10 seconds by DS stomping.

Rolling a thief that can stealth stomp is also available. Why even list things that really shouldnt count. This aint school. I’ll give you that we have 1 source of the super unique stability for the low low cost of a grandmaster trait that we can use for stomping.

Not completely the casters fault, more that 3 fights are happening in 3 different places so its practically impossible to really go in depth into every little thing, as chaotic as it is.

I couldnt do what they do i applaud their effort. A wasted effort unless ANET steps up but still. Wonder how many people that are heralding the new coming of esport from that tournament have actually seen the play and casting opportunities in a dota 2 tournament. This wont compare, ever.

You could call it balance when they almost manage to make 1 OP build on each class, and leave the biggest part of our traits useless or bugged. Not much of a challenge is it?
Also should we really be so proud that now amazingly involving builds like HGH engineers and BM rongers and phantasm/utility bot mesmers and unblockable buff steal thiefs and statue guardians can duke it out?

Is this really the balance you invisioned from ANET? They failed hard on variety at least, i guess how much fun the prevalent builds are is just an opinion.
