For some crazy reason there are a bunch of Euro’s that actually think this game is worth taking seriously. Most of us here in the states realize its not worth it at all.
Yet you feel strongly enough to come here and defend ‘the states’ while implying only ’euro’s’ could ever be dumb enough to take this game seriously, just so you could drop some half baked insult. Now thats something only a Murrican would do.

Because they tested deathmatch, but neither of the teams wanted to start the fight, so they move forward to conquest.
So? Then you make an Arena where the players start close to eachother.

Umm i’d pass on 1v1, this can already be set up easily and we might get duels some time perhaps, but 2v2 and 3v3 would be amazing.
Would it work without healers? Probably not, although resses from downed state are somewhat like heals and help against burst. Is the game too spammy and sort of lacking in reaction requirements? Sure. But that doesnt matter to me as deathmatches would be the only thing to make me even try this game again. And most of the worst issues are happening everyday in conquest to begin with so to compare them and say ‘wont work/we got conq already’ is just a bad argument.
Sure Anet you tried to make Deathmatches work, but you werent actually trying, you were just seeing a game trying to do something it wasnt yet designed to do. You have to start somewhere dont you. If you would actually try then we might see some balance (lol) changes to better facilitate another game mode after its been added.

Also, the most important part is to listen to your teamleader on which node you have to move to. It takes another 2 weeks to master this ability. The learning curve in this game is just insane its no wonder other people can auto attack you down.
Well said, an outsider may think that winning a duel by autoattacking is easy but that’ s only because he lacks the experience to tell what’ s really going on, the truth is that gw2 is not a game for everyone, only truely skilful players can be effective with what the masses call “meta builds”.

lol dude mesmer is a joke class, its one of the easiest in the game, its just not as good in the meta atm because the one we have now just so happens to be its only weakness. Waah waah. Clearly the class with the most AI and amazing hiding capabilities will scale the most with his superior human brain and hand-eye coordination, am i right.
And yes i’ve played mesmer, the fact you dont realise the extent of their horrid design means that you are the GW2 target audience, so have fun.

Also, bigger patches don’t always equal better.
You guys always say this, but players asking how big my patch is happens so quickly everytime a new player joins the game. As a..community manager, im sure you can explain this discrepency.
Considering their track record so far, and that these triple A pvp devs didnt even have the foresight to percieve any problems with tiny Asura models during years of development, i’d say any attempt at producing an enjoyable and watchable E-sport match/game comes from either lack of perception or the perception that this is as shiny as the kitten gets for a long time.
I know this might be stretching it, but maybe a simple DPS given number and DPS recieved number somewhere in the UI for each party member (would update every second) would be pretty cool. Some res timer notifications and “who ressed who” like the ones for finishes and downs would be pretty sweet too…ofc those can only have to appear for the spectators.

I always liked the gold graph in dota 2, shoutcasters can switch to it and talk about it during a dull moment and it nicely shows you momentary screenshots on how the game has progressed. Ofcourse we have a score and no gold here but it would still be cool to see Dmg Done/Dmg Taken or Kills/Deaths or even Points Earned per Minute against eachother in a graph. One of these whichever fits best.
Now here’s something I haven’t seen answered/asked:
SoloQ does the team that wins continue or have to requeue?
If the above is “continues” do they eventually get through into TeamQ, ala GW1 RA -> TA?Your roster will disband once the match is over.

One thing I learned about a lot of MMO’s is the developer can like one thing, but has to do another thing because all in all its whatever the head honcho wants and not what the developer wants. In EQ everybody blamed smedly whenever something didn’t go there way and not the developer.
So all I gotta say is if you guys really want something, you keep voicing your opinion about it.

Short answer:
Balance the game around fighting/tPvP is about map control.
You can’t balance “completely” around the two. Add in a refusal to separate PvE from PvP on a greater scale the difference gets even bigger.
That said, even with all that, it’s still ten times more balanced than WoW ever was, which is saying something considering how long the two have been around respectively.
WoW has never claimed to be a pvp game. It had a crapload more skills and abilities as well. Take that into account and the goal that ANET set for themselves in terms of build diversity and no, this game isnt really all that balanced. Its just that each class can spam (aoe) skills here, nobody feels left behind as much.

Yeah i noticed the lack necros vampirism buffs too. This might be incomplete because its leaked or it might be fake because its ‘leaked’. Seen enough leaked notes to know it can go either way. Fingers crossed on incomplete though.
I also REALLY didnt see the Spectral effects staying while in DS. I thought there was some technical limitation.

Do we need to spell it out in crayon for you people. These classes are already well represented have utterly dominating builds for spvp and wvw and giving them more free mechanics is a slap in the face to the rest of the community when there are larger and more pressing issues to be tackled.
These two classes already have a good base.
Would you rather they work on making 2 warrior builds viable at once? Or have them focus on actually getting 1 working for once? I can see where you’re coming from but…this is the best way to get more diversity going. Also any mesmer or thief that doesnt use the current popular build is a plus in my book.
Mesmers and thieves don’t use condition builds. This will open new builds for them, not make existing builds stronger.
If you need conditions you are looking for engis and necros…running condition mesmers and thieves just because they gave them this torment stuff? Don’t think so, noone is going to drop a condition engi for a condition mesmer just because of torment…unless they are planning to totally change trait’s effects to make condition thieves and mesmers more viable\effective than actual necros and engis, and this is not gonna happen imo..but anyway, we’ll see soon…
They are trying to make new builds viable. Stop whining about it. It doesnt happen overnight either. jesus. Doesnt really matter that thieves and mesmers get it, they have to start somewhere because you know everybody has like 1 build only. And imo it makes sense for thieves to have this torment, mesmers not so much but they probably need it because their conditions are just that bad (have not played condi mesmer so personally dont know). Might be related to the gutting of Confusion.

Holy crap if these are actually real then it seems ANET manned up for once. I expect people blowing up left and right but the game should feel much faster with less ‘aftercast’ which i assume is just animation / delay. It was high time for a patch like this, color me slightly impressed, almost making me regret uninstalling up in here.
In short some downed states are better than others in different ways. Some are worse. That = balance.

Glory is by definition about time played, and nobody cares about that, so stop caring. Focus on leaderboard.

I AM THE OP and when i said “rehaul stealth tree because it’s usekitten th in PvP and PvE” i was referring to an OBVIOUS fact: stealth is bad for end-game PvE and COMPLETELY USELESS in PvP, it’s used only to grief opponents in WvW and it’s BAD DESIGN.

I imagine if you were winning the fight you wouldn’t be having a problem with evasion.
But I do find it hilarious you think this game does poorly in terms of viewers and people playing based entirely on Evasion of the Ranger (which wasn’t used for a very long time in TPvP) and Thieves, which only just recently got buffs to S/D which caused them to really start using that ability that allowed Evasion……But yes.. That must be why its doing so poorly grin

It makes fear do damage. So if a person clears the fear or is immune to it, how would that fear continue to do damage? Only the fact that it works on pve bosses makes me think you’re on to something. It would make more sense to me to do something about how fear is cured by both condi cleanse and CC break. Like the pic though.

That’s different maps, not different primary game modes. Primary objective still revolves around point capture, although Spirit Watch somewhat bends the rules more in favour of orb running (at least that’s my impression of it).

Anyway it does have different game modes and i would advice people to try it out. It doesnt get a lot of publicity yet so any player helps, i think it would have done fairly good if it got even half the hype that gw2 had. This sounds rough but its probably the moba/first person rpg hybrid that ANET wanted to make.

I think Necros are pretty strong in the right hands and with the right team. Most people just tend to brush off necros because it isn’t easy to play or fit into a team.

as an arena game, why not just play like, smite? no dodging and less individual customization but more team customization, and the combats a lot easier to follow / more fun.

Aw, come on man. I actually agree with your point thakitten is quite sad that necro has a whole trait line with a lifesteal theme to it and it’s crap, heh. Our dark field wells actually also give lifesteal through projectile finishers but you know…. only 20% chance on our staff……
So yeah, I just pointed out the facetanking thing thinking solely about DS and LF. Lifestealing might be something similar though.

Mesmer is great for new aspiring pvp’ers.
Survivability through lifestealing… no. That’s exactly the point that Iceflame made as well. If we can steal enough life from a group of people to stay alive, then we will be immensely overpowered in 1v1s.
Lifesteal is something quite unique to the necromancer, leaving it in its petty state is a an affront to the entire necro class. You and that flame guy i havent heard or care about think they should just give up on it? There can be more things changed about lifesteal than you guys managed to think about, trust me. And yeah, lets not ruin the amazing 1v1 balance, just leave those traits crap kk.

Actually many classes have different tools to heal and support the group, so its not gone; what i wanted to highlight is the fact that noone builds himself around those tools cause they would be totally uneffective considering the amount of dps that can be produced in a small timeframe.
I think Devs had a concept at the beginning, and they wanted every class to be able to support allies, and so they introduced those tools, then they worked on dps, and between a fix and a nerf during their internal tests they somehow lost track of the original idea and we got to the point where dps totally overcome support.
Yeah, no healers, as in you cant just spec healing and keep people safe against multiple people unless they time burst or CC. All of this strategy is also lost because of not really needing this layer of gameplay, not that i demand healers to come back in the game. Something better for this game would be a support focused on boon applications on allies. Certain abilities could have a lower cooldown when used on an ally instead of yourself just to name something.
I do think it was a conscious decision though. They’ve often dropped hints of ‘action game’ ‘more like a fps’. But i feel that most (MMO)RPG players want more depth than just a dps race. But im weird and i think that all classes should be nerfed to necro/warrior status, as these classes are only really weak because they cant do everything on their own, i.e they need good support from others, whereas others can much more easily survive and or apply their dmg on their own. There are multiple ways without really needing a healer. I’d love some good ol’ nerfs, might reduce some visual spam too.
What! This game sounds awesome. Everyone has so many chances to stay in combat the fight will just go on until someone gets outsmarted! Why am I not playing this? It’s like intense chess!

9 months later on incremental balance changes and there is only 1 viable spec per class, 25% of the classes are rarely if ever seen in tpvp, and every nerf to a build is replaced with something stupid in the next months buffs. But would i want them to do big changes, i dont know, guess it would be like letting a monkey do eye surgery with a cleaver.
Well i got seriously annoyed when the mist form on my 6 set bonus Rune of Vampirism interrupted my self heal. Even more so because i died from condis in that time. Im not sure a mist form that procs only at 10% is as good as it was before, often you will simply die anyway because it now locks you out of everything while you die from DoTs. But its still pretty cool so can go either way.
To reduce visual spam the rune of the ogre pet should be a good place to start.
And theres the demon summoning at 26 charges thing. And plenty others one could find with but a glance.
Sorry but it will be a new condition. According to ANET the game needs it. And the condition will not give life force regen because it will be available to other classes since we cant have nice things. Wouldnt say more life force is an amazing change either..we already have a life force drain on our DS. I’d go for something that procs on applications of bleeding, which is obviously good for condi necros but also gives power necros more reason to go into the crit traits (as well as being useful on many other classes and boosting the relative weakness of bleeding). This aint the thread for that though. DS5 shouldnt be the one true skill to bring us up to par anyway. Survivability should come from more prot/stability/lifestealing.
