Not this guy again. Putting up ridiculous claims of this godlike warrior (who totally isn’t OP on an alternate account) tanking 20 gazillion enemies without breaking a sweat, healing 15k/sec and then killing them in 8-10 sec whenever he feels like it, and going into great detail of how this player is the best, sickest, maddest, most skilled SOB who ever played this game. Then he posts videos of himself tanking 3 upleveled rangers and killing an “experienced” warrior who “destroyed” several good players (suuuure, he says it, so it must be true) before he met OP. This so called “experienced” warrior is a a “veteran”, that’s what, rank 25? In addition to this he obviously runs a kittenty build and isn’t very good at dueling. Must be a legendary warrior…

I don’t know if the saddest part is this guy actually thinking he is a GW2-playing demigod, or me taking the time to answer this OP.

My guess is that we’ll see a rebuilt LA only after Mordremoth is dead. Something along the lines of: “The threat is finally dealt with, now we can focus on reclaiming what we’ve lost”. The rebuilding is probably something they want to implement as part of the story, not just some update in between. So my guess is sometimes next year, but definitely not before by Wintersday.

Which is a shame, really. AFK’ing in LA doesn’t feel the same when everything is brown, grey and broken.

How to revive WvW (discuss it!)

in WvW

Garrisyl.7402

My guess is that many new players don’t bother trying WvW, so that when old players leave, there is no one to take their place. They might try it, but once they realize how punishing and unforgiving it can be they go back to PvE. This sucks, because you have to play WvW a bit to see how fun it can be.

Also, one of the main reasons for people to play a specific kind of content is loot. But why play WvW when:

1. You get more world experience and more rank chests in EotM
2. You get more EXP in EotM
3. You get more Karma in EotM
4. You get more Badges of Honor in EotM
5. You get more champion bags in EotM
6. There is far less pressure on individuals to play well in EotM
7. There is basically no PvP element in EotM, making it a safe PvE-environment perfect for farming. Not only are you getting more loot, it’s easier to get it too.

There is currently nothing players can earn in WvW, that they can’t earn easier or more of in another game mode. EotM is overflowing with potential WvW-recruits, but there is no incentive for them to come here.

Some people could farm for hours and get full drops all time, others including me couldnt go for more than 10 minutes before we got 0 drops. This 100% proved that not all accounts are equal.

Or it proved 100% that DR is broken and not working entirely as intended.

On another note, one of my IRL friends had mystic forging precursors for a hobby too. There was a time when he would say things like " Well, time for my daily Dawn before i log off". Guy had crazy luck. I have seen him pull 5 dawns/dusk in a single session of mystic forging while I was looking him over the shoulder irl.

Still, I don’t think it has anything to do with account luck or anything. In any Gaussian chart there are some people on the extreme ends. Whether that is a fair way to handle the single biggest endgame factor of the game is another discussion.

Whether it’s a bug or not, and whether DR works or not doesn’t matter.
“An exploit is the misuse of a software feature or bug in a way that allows a player to generate in-game benefits without the risk or time expected by the game’s designers.”

I’d say 50-60g/hour by one-hitting creeps over and over again is an exploit, and a clear one at that.

Trick-or-Treat Bag research

in Black Lion Trading Co

Garrisyl.7402

Yeah, and the way to do that is to pool data from many sources.

I am familiar with the concept of collaborative drop rate research. However when drop rates are as low as the case is with trick-or-treat bags, several problems arise. No one is going to open 100k bags and honestly keep track of what each of them contained. Additionally, with such low drop rates one or two lucky drops can paint a severely distorted picture of actual drop rates. There is also, as usual, no way to know if people are being honest. In other drop rate research that’s not as big of a problem since most people are honest and balance out the one dishonest/inaccurate guy, ending up with quite accurate results. But again, if the drop rate is low, that one dishonest guy has a much bigger impact.

That’s why I think this particular project won’t fare well, but of course I can’t and won’t stop you from trying. Call me a doubter if you want.

I don’t think you have the right understanding of what a “reasonable” sample size is for these bags. For example, I opened 11k of them in the last hour, and got 3 unlimited tonics and on the 4th last bag or so i got the green poly-amulet. Still it’s not enough to know if i was lucky or not. With these super-low drop chances, you would need hundreds of thousands of bags to get a somewhat reliable picture of drop rates.

Because you’re wrong when you say you want races, classes, skills etc. What you really want is a fragmented, semi-permanent story with a cringey-akward lesbian love story at it’s center. Oh, and of course gem store weapons and outfits. Because who wants to customize their armor anyways when we can all run around looking the same, like a bunch of stormtroopers.

We just have to accept that Anet know better than their players what the players want. After all they got the almighty statistics.

is spvp dead?

in PvP

Posted by: Garrisyl.7402

Garrisyl.7402

The main reason for this is probably that sPvP is so unforgiving to new players. The first thing that happens to a new player in a match (after spending 10 minutes figuring out how to join one) is being totally lost and running around randomly, then getting facestomped by a Legendary Champion D/D ele. He then respawns and runs to another point, where he gets double-teamed by a p/s engi and a mesmer. He then proceeds to quit the game, because that wasn’t fun at all.

The more people do this, the higher the concentration of veteran players becomes compared to new players, which in turn leads to a higher chance of getting matched up with veterans, and more new people quitting. It’s a cycle.

The only thing that can save sPvP isn’t some tournament or desperately pushing esports™, but to make pvp more accessible to newcomers by creating some sheltered learning enviroment or training area, where they can try pvp without running into highly-skilled people, and without the pressure of a scoring system.

Just my 2 cents.

I don’t care about the karma, exp or loot-train going on i EoTM. What infuriates me is that amount of Wxp they earn while doing it. It’s way more than you get from regular (real) wvw. While the blood dries on your weapon, and you proudly look upon dozens of dead enemies that tried to take your keep in a fierce and tiresome battle, some random upleveled bearbow earned more WvW-experience than you while picking flowers in EoTM.

I no longer know if the gold-invader in front of me is a really experienced player that i should be wary of, or if he comes from EoTM and has yet to realize that his keyboard has more buttons than “1”.

3k hours| 575+days | 850g+ No precursor

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Garrisyl.7402

Garrisyl.7402

Lol i should have known this was you Captain Salty! At the end of the day guys its random, although different types of content are more likely to give you one. For example, if all you do is run dungeons all day, there is such a small chance you will get one as the type of loot you receive and #mobs killed is much lower than if your a hardcore WvW Zerg Buster like myself. To anyone that wants one that badly, your best bet is WvW. Most of my precursor drops have been from players in wvw and most of the precursors my friends and guild have received are also from WvW.

Well, I have 30k+ wvw kills and several of my friends got ultimate dominator a year ago. None of us have ever gotten a precursor. The fact that you got several is not due to better drop chances in WvW, it’s because you are lucky. And since you mainly play WvW, I would assume that most of your friends do too. So it’s no wonder that if some of them were to get a precursor, chances are high that it would be from WvW. Just like a bunch of PvE players are more likely to get their from PvE.

No matter what mode you are playing, it’s down to luck. It’s easy for those who have dropped precursors to be smug about it. They don’t know the frustration that comes along with having invested 3k+ hours into this game without ever dropping one. And to those saying no one should feel “entitled” to a precursor: You know what? After 3000 hours, i kinda do feel i deserve one.

I’ve crafted two legendaries and am almost done with the 3rd, but that doesn’t make me any less of a sad panda about the unfair mess that is precursor drops.

Make sPvP more like WvW

in PvP

Posted by: Garrisyl.7402

Garrisyl.7402

So I recently decided to try out sPvP, because there are some really nice skins you can get only there, and I was done getting my WvW-rewards. But after I played a game, I noticed that my reward track had barely progressed at all.

WTF??

At this rate it would take me hours of playing and dedication to get the rewards. This is outrageously unfair.

Why shouldn’t I get the same items and rewards as the dedicated spvp’ers just because I don’t spend a lot of time playing pvp and they are a lot better than me. When I played WvW, i only had to play for 5 minutes to get the same exclusive WvW-skins and rewards as the hardcore players. This is how should be, because everyone should have access to the same WvW-skins, to make sure that everyone feels included and that the wvw-players don’t get anything to brag about or show off.

I was also quite shocked after looking over the titles. 10000 kills for a title?? TEN THOUSAND??? Another one was winning 100 games. Not only PLAYING, but WINNING. That is insane. Getting that would take forever. When i played WvW, I only had to play a few minutes to get the same title as players who spend thousands of hours there.

IMO it should be like this in sPVP too. Players shouldn’t be able to show-off hard to get titles that display their mastery of a gamemode. That would make them stand out and give them something to be proud of, which in return will make all other players feel inferior and bad because they don’t have that title. So make sPvP like WvW, where everyone gets the same “Mist Runner” title, no matter if they spent 5 minutes or 2000 hours in the gamemode. This way no one will feel left out.

And that is what we’re aiming for, right?

How can people buy legendaries

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Garrisyl.7402

Garrisyl.7402

I don’t really get your initial calculations, so I’ll just do mine.
Current Gem to gold rate is 100 gems = 9g 15s
Current cost of 100 gems is 1.25 USD
1.25 USD = 9g15s
Say you need 3.5k gold for a legendary
3500/9.15 ~382
382×1.25 ~ 428
So it currently cost a little upwards of 400 USD to buy a legendary off tp. This may seem like a lot, but for some people it’s really not that much compared to the hassle of grinding it out ingame. I personally know several people who did this, and one of my best buddies actually bought 5 legendaries (including Eternity) with gems.

No. Not. Happening. Ever!

You’re wrong. I guess what you’re referring to is this https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Race-Change/first#post272286

Keep it mind that:
1) It was not a dev response. Eva is CC. She has nothing to do with the development/features of the game, nor do I think she knows everything about what’s going to be added and what not. She might just have been a little more absolute than she meant to.

2: There is another response from a dev , which I sadly cannot find atm, as it was posted in one of the 300 threads about this topic. In that response he said that it wasn’t something they’re planning to work on now or the foreseeable future. It wasn’t however, an absolute no.

3: Anet also stated they would never add higher gear levels and that precursor crafting would be implemented. Now we have ascended gear and no precursor crafting. So always take their statements with a grain of salt.

4: No company will feel any obligation (nor should they) to be bound by statements made almost two years ago, if moving away from the statement turns out to be a profitable thing to do

Edit:

Still couldn’t find the dev answer, maybe I was imagining things. Found some other posts though, none of which seem to be absolute “no’s”

A general tip is summoning an ice bow before you enter. Freeze her as soon as the fight starts, then summon a hail storm on her. If you’re full zerker this should deal 30-40% of her max hp. That’s how my friend finally did it on his ele.

Liadri Tips

in Living World

Posted by: Garrisyl.7402

Garrisyl.7402

I beat her on my third try yesterday, running the old-school zerker phantasm build. GS is a must in this fight, because of the excellent range, dmg and the cripple on the phantasmal berzerker. If she gets too close knock her back with the 5-skill. Second weapon set is S/P. The sword is almost useless, because you don’t want to be in melee range. The evade on the 2-skill is a nice panic button and finisher though. Pistol phantasm deals huge, reliable damage, and the stun is also great for getting some distance between you.

While fighting the first phase, remember that her attacks are slow projectiles, meaning you can easily dodge them by tapping left-right from time to time.

In the second phase, use your illusion summoning skills whenever they are off cd. Especially the GS ones (2 and 5-skill) are great, because they spawn at Liadri, often taking the aggro away from you and giving you some breathing space.

I used Moa, blink, decoy and signet of illusion. The signet is great because it makes your phantasm survive two hits from Liadri instead of one, which makes a huge difference.

Endurance regen food ist a must ofc.
