I have also had serious performance losses after the most recent patch. I’m getting lower fps, higher load times, AND an input-lag-like issue that really detracts from gameplay. I was able to run everything pretty decently before, especially still have great frames inside instances, but now my GPU is struggling and I’m getting much more lag.

Previously – GPU Usage 60-90% (inside dungeon) FPS – 48-60 (VSync on)
Now – GPU Usage 90-99% (inside dungeon) FPS 30-45 (VSync on)

Specs: Phenom II X4 945 OC @ 3.6GHZ
DDR3 8GB
Gigabyte GTX 460 1GB OC 860/1950

Really sad about this new patch :\

They should be forced to use a waypoint to resurrect. I don’t think other players should be able to slowwwwly heal up the person and bring them up from BEING DEAD. After all, they are dead, and a Thief/Mesmer/ETC is not really a profession that seems fit for resurrecting the DEAD.

Okay, so I know the “Downed” state is controversial and people have mixed feeling about it. I personally don’t care for it but I do like the choices you have to make, and the ability to rez your mates.

However, I think once someone has been KILLED From downed to DEAD, they should not be rezzable. This simply doesn’t make sense, and in two big aspects.

First, it confuses new players in dungeons. I’ve watched people trying to rez a “Dead” player during an encounter, sitting there like a duck and eventually get downed and killed themselves. The fact that the game UI says “HIT X TO HEAL THIS PLAYER!” could be confusing and make some players think they are healing a DOWNED not dead player.

The second is in the context of WvW. Just today I literally took on an 8v1 battle and managed to take an elementalist down to DEAD with my guardian, using Wall of Reflection to survive the assault, but after I killed said ele I died. I then had to watch all the players spam heal the dead person and up them once again. This allows players to regain map positioning without even deserving it, for lack of a better word.

I don’t think dead should be revivable. You’ve died should mean you have to respawn at a waypoint!

Here’s my predicament:

I can’t stand to play any other race besides Norn. Norn male, in fact (I’m not really into playing female characters in general).

Humans? Look absolutely puny and girlish, even the most muscular option.
Charr? Love the looks and four legged run, but 2 legged run looks too slouched and like the undead from WoW
Asura? Little rats… way ugly.
Sylvari? Love the looks.. but really hate their run animation..

Is anyone else feeling the same Norn love that I am? Currently my character screen is FIVE MALE NORNS!

I’m really confused about some posts in this topic. Why do people think that Kholer takes “A lot of communication”?? This boss is timing a dodge, with a huge windup.

If this SIMPLE mechanic is so challenging to the community as a whole, I’m really scared for how easy content is going to get. I can literally sit there and tank him the entire time, while standing still, then do a backwards roll and leap right back in after his pull. No communication or real skill required!

I’m not saying I DISLIKE the boss, I think it’s a good measure to weed out the bad players. But I would personally like to see MORE original and challenging mechanics added to dungeons instead of huge health pools and zergs of mobs.

This change to SE Is really nothing new guys. The content/changes that ANet is releasing seems to be COMPLETELY UNTESTED. This goes for the new SE Path 1, CoF (SUPPOSEDLY you’re supposed to be able to kill all Magg’s event mobs without exotics…yea right..) etc..

There are still so many discrepancies and variance throughout the dungeons at this point it’s not really worth complaining.

If they want to do something about this lousy dungeon quality, they will. But it’s not looking that way.

Perfect inscriptions increases how much incoming dmg it reduces. It says Improves signet passives by 20%, if that’s true at it further reduces incoming dmg by 20% on top of the signets base 10%, that’s 30%. Either way, point still stands. We don’t need the health pool we have a metric ton of other things to mitigate, heal, avoid, or soak up dmg with.

God man, you’re really clueless aren’t you. This is how I know you don’t even play a Guardian.

The trait that improves signets states “Signet passive effects are improved” You are referring to the trait that REDUCES COOLDOWN BY 20%.

Even IF you were right about the 20%, which you’re not, you’re now adding a flat 20% to a 10% damage reduction? Seriously? You don’t think it would be a 20% improvement over 10% damage reduction, or 12%???

So really, the point still doesn’t stand. Dedicating a utility slot towards 10% passive damage reduction (and keep in mind, it’s often much better to actually use the signet for Fumble + Retaliation) is still a big sacrifice. And newsflash, 10% dmg reduction isn’t gonna do anything when you have a base pool of 13K.

I don’t see the necessity for Guardians to have improved health pool.. but your argument was so wrong..

Next patch:

- Symbols are smaller. Regular size is now melee range and exaltation size is now current regular size.
- Added kitten cooldown to mace auto-attack.
- Fixed a bug that caused scepters to sometimes deal damage.
- Fixed a bug where Chains of Light was immobilizing targets. It now correctly applies cripple for 2s.

LOL! I think I may start a funny thread about these types of changes in the future :P

It’s funny how many uninformed responses this thread already has.

No, Guardian is definitely not. Warriors can take MUCH more abuse then a Guardian, although Guardians can help their team take abuse. Warriors have a 5 second block-all on their shield, endure pain, etc etc… Guardians have absolutely nothing like this (Renewed Focus doesn’t count, you end up standing still and can’t act) not even taking into account things like Guard’s bad mobility.

“When you have 33% damage reduction more or less permanently, you don’t really need the health pool that a warrior has.”

In absolutely NO circumstance except for running a 2h hammer in PVE does a Guardian have 100% protection boon uptime. You MIGHT be able to achieve this running a shield(terrible offhand weapon) + Saveyourselves+Holdtheline (IF you are specced for BOON duration), otherwise you’re never getting anything close to100% protection uptime.

I’m not saying Guardians even NEED a health increase(I would MUCH RATHER have our broken weapons looked at (Shield, Scepter, Staff)), and I play one, but I just had to set people straight.

I am also noticing some of these issues. Having the 3 set bonus does not add another +50 power to your stats, although the (5) with +90 power is functioning properly.

The (4) bonus is also NOT working correctly and only procs when you get hit.

Use target marks to greatly assist in your chase and acquisition – And it always helps to have a weapon with some AOE capability (Hammer, GS, Staff)

Pay attention to behaviors! And remember, they only stay in stealth until they deal damage to you Good luck, mesmers are definitely one of the harder profs to deal with in PvP

Sorry, but this is simply NOT TRUE. When my Guardian is specced for straight damage output, I have 14K health and do about 4.5K-7K with a buffed Zealots Defense (given that EVERY projectile hits). On my warrior, a simple Bolas + Hundred blades hits for 7K-12K, on top of the fact that he has 22K health.

Guardians do NOT do as much damage as warriors, not even close really. Even disregarding HB a warrior can completely own Guardian damage output just using mainhand axe auto attack. On top of that, warriors have HUGE survivability options that Guardians don’t have. For instance, shouts that potentially heal (esp fear shout for survivability), ENDURE PAIN (huge one), 200 toughness while disabled, shield move that actually BLOCKS, better heals, etc etc, I could really go on forever.

While Guardians CAN have high survivability, you HAVE to be specced for it. You can’t have the passive resilience that warriors have while doing immense amounts of damage.

I have a great time on my Guardian in PvE, but after playing a Warrior in PvP it’s a bit depressing and I tend to avoid playing PvP on the Guardian (takes too much effort for too little reward)

Organizing skills by cooldown in the beginning was a somewhat smart and good idea. However you cannot expect to keep this philosophy if skills continue to develop through balancing. ArenaNet’s big mistake was not releasing the option to customize your 1-5 abilities WITH the patch that totally kittened up the Guardian greatsword.

This is just poor implementation once again by ANet, which is a bit saddening. Can’t even bear to think that these thoughts wouldn’t cross someone at the companies mind. I GET that it was once listed by cooldown, but either stick with the release ability orders or allow us to change them at will. Everyone’s going to be kitten once you forcefully change their weapons and rotations (not just Guardians)

That, and the overall increase in cooldown times for GS. GS already felt too auto-attack heavy to me, now it’s even more so.

The GS still has the lowest cd’s of its overall skills than the other two, however. The change was made so that the symbol didn’t help give a perma-retaliation to the player. Hopefully the devs tweak retaliation in a bit, rather than try to re-balance the entirety of Guardian’s light fields. Then again, I don’t really use my GS much anymore, so I can’t comment on its new efficacy.

My point with this post is just to discuss the new position of the skills, and get a reply to WHY. The other post about GS changes is more directed at cds, efficacy, etc. But .. so simply…

Don’t fix what ain’t broken. We want our original skill positions back!

Dude, this. THIS would make the symbol retaliation-LESS (which is evidently what ANet wants to reduce) and still make it awesome. Of course they would still have to switch the abilities back to their original positions. I mean cmon. What the hell was the Guardian dev team thinking? Oh yeah, I know what. The same thing they were thinking when they developed the scepter and shield.

Confused is an understatement.

Were there any complaints about previous placement of greatsword skills? Everything was intuitive and flowed pretty well.

All of a sudden, out of the BLUE (at least for ME, I didn’t read ANYTHING about people complaining about skill placement) skills are changed up… This is the first time this has happened to ANY class in GW2 thus far.

Why ANet? Why would you mess with one of the only 100% satisfactory weapons we have? Why wouldn’t you look at broken kitten weapons like the scepter and shield instead of screwing up our only fun weapon?

But the NEW LAYOUT? Man, this is so bad. It was perfect before, now we have to hit Key 2 for Whirling while Running (W) ??? I mean why in the right mind would this change make it through?

Honestly, the invisible “culling” or whatever it’s called, player loading issue, is also a major problem for me in ANY main city areas as well as WvW. Obviously in WvW it’s a bigger deal as you can end up without any knowledge of forces approaching, but it’s still even annoying just running around LA and not seeing people pop up.. at all :P

I sincerely hope ANet can solve this issue – because if it takes a LONG time to fix it, I honestly can’t see people sticking around long-term (At least in terms of WvW).

YES. Man I didn’t think anyone else was getting this issue I’m glad to hear it’s not just me haha. My norn periodically will get completely STUCK in a spot while I sit there slamming around on my keyboard. Some movement abilities will help the situation, and using a waypoint as someone suggested.

I agree, they are SO clunky. I was very excited about turning into a bear. Turns out I’ve only used it like 4-5 times in my entire GW2 career (and NEVER to actually fight in, it’s way too slow and you can’t even attack while moving)

Haha oh boy. ANet has no problem nerfing the duration on a much needed staff utility but still can’t seem to fix players dodging and jumping over line and ring of warding. We can see that priorities rest not on fixing broken abilities, but rather “balancing” an already almost negligible guardian weapon

Am I the only one worries about the future of W3 in regards to the client performance?

I mean, at the moment, many many people are having issues withW3. Whether its super low fps on great systems, or the invisible enemies issue with rendering players, we can agree that W3 is anything but polished.

The question is, will it ever be? Will the client/engine that arenanet ever be able to smoothly handle all these players on screen? Will we have to just “settle” for the status quo?

I am definitely rolling a warrior myself to replace my mostly-exoticed out guardian. Guardians are simply not fun in WvW, so if you plan on doing so play a warrior IMO. They still get great team support through team buffs, sport heavy armor, however have tons more health and range weapon options.

Hey everyone,

Looking for some input on my next step for my rig. I have

Phenom x4 oc to 3.6 (quad core)
Gtx 460 oc 850/1900

Now when I’m just regularly playing, GPU usage is usually around 60-70% and everything runs good, no complaints. However, in huge zergs such as WvW, my GPU usage seem to stay around 20% and my fps drops to a measly 10-20 (especially in WvW)

Now my understanding is these huge scale battles are getting lagged up due to my CPU. So my thoughts were to upgrade to a 2500k and leave my GPU for the time being.

Do you think doing this will make WvW more playable?

Izziee, I commend you on your posts.

George Steel, the way you’re reacting to Izziee’s post insultingly/immaturely pretty much reinforces his point: that you may have come across as condescending/insulting and gave legit reason for these people to boot you. Obviously I can be completely wrong, but unless you show us the actual chat log, I am leaning toward the fact that, yes, you did somewhat deserve it.

If the group thought I was condescending, they could have kicked me 5 minutes in.. 10 minutes in.

Instead, TWO people were able to remove me from a group when the last boss was nearly dead (hence, they were also able to use me for the last fight too). Any way you look at it, that’s griefing.

And I’ll decline to comment on the Izzie’s terribly thought out posts.

I would think the simple solution would be to not allow a kick vote to be initiated while in combat and require a majority (3 instead of 2) for a kick.

Exactly. I would even consider FOUR people need to agree to kick from a party of five inside a dungeon. Would requiring four people to agree to the kick be a BAD thing?

And In-Combat kicking should definitely not be allowed to protect against situations like what happened to me.

We have all encountered these people in our groups. They call you bad, or noob, because you haven’t mastered the content the first time you’re in a dungeon. They are never civil, and judging by the op using words like terrible to describe players, and the fact that he threatens to do the same to other people if this isn’t fixed, shows exactly what type of player this is, and how he cannot be trusted to give an unbiased account of what really happened.

Yeah, because you were there. No, i’m pretty sure you’re just jumping to conclusions. So what if I call players terrible? There are terrible players, in fact. What I’m demonstrating is my willingness to do the same that was done to me if the issue doesn’t get looked at, as simple as that. I will replicate what the others have if they don’t get punished or the system doesn’t get changed.

And more generalization about what kind of player I am.. awesome. People just can’t get the facts straight – We need punishment for this action and you should NOT BE KICKABLE during a boss fight

It doesn’t matter what his story is. Kicking mid-fight should not be possible. If you end up with a group member who is griefing, kick them after the fight and then attempt again. No biggie. The potential for griefing is far greater with the ability TO kick mid-fight, than to NOT be able to kick until the fight is over.

Again, I haven’t an issue with what you say about kicking midway through a fight, then again, what if someone just decides to go AFK or grief them back? It can work both ways you know.

I don’t see why anyone would kick through the middle of a fight after doing the whole dungeon with someone just for funzies. There’d most likely be a reason for it. I wasn’t there, I don’t know, but one thing I do know, looking at the OP’s attitude on how he’s going to kick the next undeserving person who isn’t even related to the issue? Yeah, I’ll stick to my first instincts and think that he probably deserved it.

Again referring to my attitude. How is your attitude when you singlehandedly lead a newbie team to the end of a dungeon to be KICKED with the final boss at 10%? Please, tell me how great your attitude would be?

This is my story.

I joined a party for HotW explorable. Since you don’t get ANY tokens on the way to the final boss.. well, I had earned nothing so far, even though I was leading the group, calling out strategies, etc.

At one point, I called out a player for doing something terrible (walking down the hallway face first, attacking totems on the boss) etc. This was only after I had explained the situation, it wasn’t blatant flaming.

So I guess this guy had a buddy or (two?) in the group. Long story short, we were downing the boss when he got to a very low percentage and I was kicked from the party, allowing me to gain absolutely nothing from my time investment.

Balanced? Fair? How many votes does it take to kick someone from a party of 5?
2 votes? 3?

Either way, I feel totally kitten in this scenario. And you better believe that if it doesn’t get looked at, IM going to be the one kicking out the terrible player with my friends right before the last boss goes down to prove some points.

You was “leading” the group? Everyone always talks about leading them. You sure you wasn’t just being plain old bossy and annoying? Demanding this that and whatever?

A player did “something terrible” and you said something? Yeah, can tell right there I bet it was condescending

Then you got your comeuppance, there’s actually a currency in this game, it’s called Karma.

To top it all off, because some irrelevant group didn’t stand for it, you’re not going to kick the next innocent person who screws up? I bet you NEVER screw up, I bet on your first time you get it perfect.

And you “demand” that it get’s looked at? By who, Anet?

Yeah, everyone’s innocent on this forum, never screw up and the best player out there and it’s never ever their fault, no no, can’t be. I mean, just look at your attitude, we can totally see you’re the one who got screwed here..right?

1. Leading in terms of – this is the strategy. You need to turn around and walk backwards. You don’t need to attack totems. I don’t sit around passively, it’s not my personality (you should try leading, it’ll get you somewhere)

2. Yes, did something terrible in terms of, I explained by TYPING OUT what needs to be done, then there was blatant disregard for anything just said, leading to the players own death. Then I called them out on it “Dude I just told you walk backwards what are you doing?”

3. I didn’t say im going to kick anyone for screwing up. I said i’m going to kick Bad Quality players when I have them in my group right before the last boss goes down. Kicking these people will (not only void them of the reward they don’t deserve) but HOPEFULLY cause some sort of attention to the situation (which is what I really want, I want it resolved).

And about your comments on my attitude? You’re not my mom or my boss, so I don’t really care, and i’m sure no one else does either.

EDIT: Oh and yeah, we had two first time HotW explorable moders in the group. Hence why LEADING is required.

What happened to you, was frickin’ awful.

Unfortunately, there’s not much you can do… in a “pug”. That is the price you pay for running with strangers who, for whatever reason, have you in their sights. People can be horrid.

I’ve had great pugs, and I’ve had terrible pugs.

If I were you, I’d chalk it down to the latter and do you best to run with people you know, as much as you can. Even if you have to pug a 5th.

In my opinion, chalking it up to “some pugs are just terrible” is completely unacceptable. WoW had a kitteny community and created that behavior, but other games don’t need to follow in their footsteps. ArenaNet should strive to make this as good a gaming community as possible and not tolerate behavior like that. Further, they need to implement features in the grouping system to make booting someone mid-combat impossible, as well as taking measures to avoid groups of friends being able to boot anyone they don’t like simply because they’re all friends. People try to do all sorts of bad things in real life, that doesn’t mean we let them get away with it.

Oh, I agree with you with the “unacceptable behaviour” comment. I really do. But the issue I see is, a company trying to find that “line”… I sure as hell wish (as you do), that they would hand out suspensions for crap like this..

That’s exactly what I’m hoping for. I have two of the four player names, and pretty much all it would take is looking through a few party chat logs/dungeon logs(not sure if these exist really) to see what happened. What I really want is these players to face some sort of suspension.

I’m okay with the tokens not being there, I really am. But it’s more of the principle.

Hey, thanks for announcing that on the forums. Got you added to my blocked list so I don’t accidentally end up in a group with you. This really helps me out, I appreciate it.

Don’t group with strangers? I’m pretty sure that’s the exact opposite of the community guild wars 2 is trying to establish. Easy hotfix fix? You can’t vote kick players during a boss fight.

No thanks, scavengers are just fine. They have a nice big leap animation that is very easy to spot and dodge out of. You should try using blinds, knockbacks, roots, and all the other beautiful options ANet has put to your disposal.

To be honest, the only thing the recent patch has done is anger me in regards to quality assurance and testing done by ArenaNet.

Not only was I rewarded only 45 tokens on my first run of ANY dungeon today, being HotW, but then jumping over to my SECOND run of the day, AC (path 2) only rewarded me with 30 tokens.

So I guess what I’m asking is.. does ANet even test the material they’re releasing? Obviously though was put into fixing the “grinding dungeons” issue. And I LIKE how the new system was designed to function. You should do every path, each reaping 60 tokens, then stop doing the dungeon and go to a new one for best efficiency.

But how hard is it to make sure that each path rewards 60 tokens? Explorable mode dungeons are supposed to be a form of endgame for GW2, and it seems to me that the work being put forth into testing and assuring the content works properly is really lacking.

Please stop releasing this half-assed content. It’s better off to wait a few more days to test and ensure something as simple as the amount of tokens is correct rather than releasing it ASAP and it being broken.

Token number - Not getting 60 for every first path

I only received 45 dungeon tokens for completing HotW (butcher path) the for the FIRST time today. I didn’t even do any OTHER dungeons, just logged on post-patch, ran the whole instance, and ended up with only 45 tokens.
