My guildie sent me 200g a month ago. No bans. I have since sent him 200g as well. No bans.

I got one of those sickles back on Day 1 to see if it would make a noticeable difference on the number of passion flowers I could find. It did. I went from getting about 1 in 25 nodes, to 1 out of the entire 125 uses of the pick.
funny stuff. I have to ask: how many did you get at the 1 in 25 rate? I’ve harvested around 500 and haven’t got a single one with a mithril sickle.
I started harvesting about a week before the Rich node disappeared, and quit when it did.
I harvest with 4 characters, well used to. It’s about 20 nodes a run. In that week, I found 3 flowers everyday except one day, where I got one. I use Orichalcum Sickle. So the answer is about 18 Flowers then.
Guardian
The decision should be entirely based on whether or not you like the appearance, as that is the only reason to ever buy Cultural gear.
Guardian
Well, I guess this will be going on for a long time, though I enjoy fighting certain FC and ET guilds enough that I’ll be fine for a few weeks.
And I also fought a [Yarr] Commander(sunrise wielder) today in FC borderland at the supply camp north of Bay. S/he was very good, though her ally tipped the 2v2 in my favor.

The point of WvW is different from person to person.
For me personally, I go to WvW to PvP. There is nothing more to it. Capturing objectives is not important to me, unless it’s purpose is bait.
As long as I can get myself into a situation where my comrades and my skill is pushed to the limit to overcome odds that are stacked high against us, then I am satisfied with that day of WvW.
I choose to PvP in WvW because I find sPvP to be too restricting in builds, and I’m not overly fond of capturing points to win.
Guardian
The “Huge Nerf to AoE” is nothing more than something the masses have gathered around to hype up.
In reality, Anet is trying to make single target attacks preferable to AoE attacks in situations where your goal is to harm a single target. This could mean a variety of things, like nerfing certain AoE skills, redefining their mechanics, or buffing certain single target attacks, or countless other changes.
It is a continual process that will be tweaked and modified throughout the game’s life, and not all be included in a single patch that will shift the entire meta-game.

Oh, it was glorious. Absolutely glorious.
Now, how to I go about getting them into WvW….
Guardian
Any profession can get there. Got there on my Thief, without any boosts of any kind. I’d explain how, but that would be tricky.
Guardian
Everyone should agree that granting a grace period to new accounts would be ideal. There really is no reason to not agree.
Up until now, I thought Anet DID include one, but only because common sense suggests so.
Guardian
Common issue. 12secs looking over this forum would have shown that.
As for me, the worse I have ever looted from a chest was a blue armor piece.
Guardian
Well as i stated, elementalist is the one profession i know of that get a 1/1 payout (on 3 skills) for the points put into healing power. I do wonder about the claimed regeneration numbers on the thief tho (outside of counting the initiative spending heal as regeneration).
Never said it was sustainable for long, but it is plenty for many, many full heals during the course of a fight. There’s more to thieves than heart seeker spam.
My Guard use to have similar healing ability, though I changed the build to take into account Pies. Now I’m far more offensive.
I’ve seen some serious healing from Engis as well, though I don’t have one myself.
Some claim Warriors can match Guardians in this area.
So that leaves Necros, Mesmers, and Rangers. Anyone know if they have any healing potential?
Guardian
Interesting.
And Fox, you don’t belong on the forums. Shoo!
Guardian
I don’t think the professions are very well balanced with 1v1 in mind.
Other than the crying that would arise from that, I’d like dueling. Though it is possible to duel in sPvP.
Guardian
Wow.
That about sums up it up.
Guardian
Arenanet has said they do not want to take away such a powerful skill from the Mesmers. Frankly, I agree. They instead want to rework other professions to be able to make a similar impact on the WvW scene.
Guardian
My Ele can burst heal 50-70% of the average WvW player’s health, as well as provide many long lasting boons.
As for Healing power, it is plenty powerful. My Ele is able to burst heal himself 14k+ every 30secs, and 9k+ every 10secs. My thief can regenerate at about 1.5k health/sec. Both majoring in healing power, and both impossible without healing power.
Guardian
You’re crazy if you think we have a chance next week =P It’s gonna be a massacre. I, for one, am going to thoroughly enjoy it.
SF will not be able to do well until we get our numbers under control.
When we attack, all we do is zerg. Commanders try to use strategy, but most don’t go along with it. I have seen some improvement though. The average player is still throwing down trebs in catapult range, golems in front of gates, trebs on the outer edge of walls. Just last night, I saw two different occasions where someone put down another catapult when the Wall was <15% and already and two catas hitting it.
When we defend, only a select few put up siege, and half of them puts them in the most ridiculous places. We rarely even have catapults behind gates.
When ET can fend us off for hours with 20-30% our numbers, then we have room to improve. Wait until we fight a server with the same coordination as ET, but have the same, if not more, people than we do.
Our non-prime time force is still pitifully small. 10-12 players won’t cut it against a server that can zerg around the clock.
As another anecdotal example of why SF has a ways to go, just the other day I was trying to use a treb we had to hit a Catapult that ET had built inside Overlook to get the inner gate. We had 8 players there, not counting myself. I asked for someone to spot me, but no one would. I asked three times, and fired off more than 10 shots, and still, not a single player told me how close to the catapult I was. Same thing happened a few minutes later while I used a mortar to get an ET treb.

I don’t care about the monthly, but that stupid Story information has been bugging me since August 25th. I’m tired of seeing “Snaff’s Prize” sitting up there, and the green arrows and marker on my mini-map.
Actually, it is nearly giving me the motivation to start and complete my personal story. I’m still sitting happily at lv3, with no desire to do it.
Guardian
@SF night crew: Gonna be perfectly honest, I won’t miss you guys at all. I loathe PvDoor night crews.
What are those players suppose to do then? Sit in their Towers and Keeps playing cards?
Guardian
I just answered that.
Absolutely.
Being steam rolled, to me, is more fun than steam rolling.
As the steamroller you are in control, i.e. you can back off and allow the other servers to claim objectives, you can assess numbers and attack with only equal numbers, etc. If you are being steamrolled, you won’t be allowed to leave your spawn if the other server doesn’t want you to. I fail to see how that is more fun, but everyone is different.
Actually, I have absolutely no control. I can personally back off, but what will make the other 30 players back off? After I back off, I’m going to have nothing to do, at all, but leave WvW. How the heck am I suppose to get exactly 15 players to engage the enemy, while the other 15 just watch? Both those examples are unrealistic.
As for being camped, there is literately “Nothing” the enemy could do that would restrict me to spawn. If I want to leave spawn, I will leave spawn. Getting passed them would be too easy. Then my guild would go take a camp, fortify it, and prepare for fun.
Guardian
I’m assuming it’s like a 10% higher chance of getting rare things. Which is pointless mostly.
I got one of those Sickles for 2 Laurels just for the hell of it. After 100 uses, I have gotten 1 passion flower. I was getting 3 flowers every 75 uses or so from a normal Ori Sickle. Perhaps I was just lucky..
Guardian
There’s a limit to the number of Passiflora I can gather in a day. Roughly 15 or so nodes, but it is Per Character, not account.
I wouldn’t doubt the same system applies to all nodes.
Guardian
If using Free Transfers to gather Ori is an exploit, which it was back in September, then this very well MAY be an exploit. The only difference is that you’re limited to 3 servers a day.
Anyways, I don’t think it’ll be an exploit since the gold/hour ratio is lower than other means.
Guardian
Absolutely.
This week, we’re nearly tripling second place in points. It isn’t fun. At one point we pushed FC to 0+, then switched over to ET and pushed them nearly all the way down as well.
I’ve been with SF since September, and we have had several matches where we would be less than 50+ the entire week. It was a lot more fun than domination.
Though I do enjoy our fights with ET quite a bit. They are really good at bunkering down and holding against 3-4x their numbers. FC though, has declined every week for passed few weeks, and barely put up a fight now.
Look at it from the other side then. Are you ready to go 4-5 weeks of getting steamrolled by servers with enough coverage to never let you leave your spawn?
I just answered that.
Absolutely.
Being steam rolled, to me, is more fun than steam rolling.

I just finished Juggernaut today and let me tell you – it feels like an achievement to me.
And that’s what counts.
What you’ve felt is not an achievement, it’s relief.
You’re glad its finally over.
Oh, tell me how I feel next!

Not the case with T8 though. SF is far too strong for ET and FC, but the next server above us has rating of about 400 higher than us.
Selfishly, I’m glad for the reset, or I fear we may be facing ET and FC for a long time.
You ok with being stuck fighting some of the current T1 and T2 servers for the next month instead?
Absolutely.

Exactly the same as usual. I’ve ran a lot of AC these past few days, and I always state prior to entering that if we are skipping Kholer or Troll, that I’ll gladly take my leave.
Though the other day, my party died when Kholer was at half health. As a Guardian, I proceeded to spend the next eternity pecking away at his health, alone.
Fortunately, I succeeded. Unfortunately, one of the dead dudes proposed.

Regardless of how they are obtained, how many have been acquired, or the forums’ opinion on them, as these three are completely and utterly irrelevant to me(huge emphasis on that last one), I will feel like I achieved something when I finally get my Twilight.
I started toward my Twilight on November 22nd with 17g. I couldn’t play much from December 13th to January 13th due to being home for the holidays, way out in the sticks. Now, I am about 400g from Twilight.
I’m going to wield it happily, as soon as I pay off some debts….

This is pathetic. Worst game engine ever.
Constantly, 1 person is turning into 5 or more. No one can pvp properly like this.
To the several posts like this.
Culling was intentionally added by Anet. It is not a fault of the Engine.
Culling is basically the game only rendering what is important to your character. This allows for computers that should not be able to handle a large battle, be it PvE or PvP, to be able to tolerate it. Anet has a certain performance bar that they will not cross, which means fixing culling will be hard, since it is there to make performance better. They have to remove the concept that keeps performance tolerable in large battles, without lessening performance.
But as great of an idea as it was. It just doesn’t work in WvW in it’s current state. We need to see everything, as soon as possible.
The last update seemed as if it made allies less priority than enemies. That would explain why many report seeing more ally culling now and less enemy culling.
Guardian
LOVED the massive fight last night at the garrison. I had hoped for another such battle on the other side of the map at EH but it never came. .
A lot of SF was burned out after that battle. I didn’t stay up very long after it ended, and surely wasn’t going to engage in another.
But it was a great battle. Too bad I was having some serious lag spikes during half of it.
Guardian
10 more supply is always welcomed.
Guardian
I’d say come to SF, but we have already gotten a good few players over the last couple of weeks, and we’re speculated to get thrashed next week.
I’m gonna miss running into certain guilds from ET and FC.
Guardian
If the sell orders change from 320 to 550g, it isn’t a sign of anything. Anything at all. Not with items of such low supply. The 320g ones were bought, then someone came along to sell one and placed it at 550g, since there weren’t any others, and he wanted as much as possible.
When more comes into the market, players will look at lower buy orders and the 550g axe, and undercut the 550 my a decent margin. It’ll happen several times, until it is back in its regular ballpark.
Happens to Dusk all the time. Use buy orders, not sell orders, when determining value.
Guardian
Gah ET. Couldn’t you just have handed over the Garrison? That was a painfully long siege.
Guardian
Culling has just became second priority to me.
I just finished defending Longview. There was a enemy Mesmer using a movement hack to teleport into the tower and dropping portals.
I’d rather have a third the enemies be visible than our wall be useless.
Guardian
Still happening at Longview. I didn’t get a screenshot, but it was an upscaled mesmer from [DH] using a movement hack to teleport about.
A bunch of Reputable guilds from ET were present.
Guardian
ET =O
Some mesmer is gltiching/hacking over walls as I type this in your Borderlands. Just lost Longview to it, and apparently it happened at DB just now.
Guardian
I’d agree, but I’ve been busy trying to counter skilled Engis, who seem to be popping up in FC. Can’t keep a condition on them for more than a few seconds.

I am very experienced in doing dumb things. Do not fear, the anguish will pass one day. Unfortunately, there will always be a lingering regret of what could have been.

Now on to another question.
Why must so many players who leave the game make an announcement about it?
If the goal was to discuss the 1800 gems price, the above was not needed. It always makes for a bad thread, not sure why this would be different.
By the way, I’ll be leaving for dinner in 3hrs everyone.
If you feel strongly enough to leave the game, why would you not feel strongly enough to air an opinion about whatever it is making you leave?
Why is that hard to understand?
Feel free to air you opinion. Have your discussion, but leave the irrelevant details aside. “I’m quitting this game guys” has never been taken well in a MMO Forum. If discussion was your goal, or venting, then adding that detail was not the brightest idea.
And having someone pay you, then you pay them back later is called a Loan. Sounds sensible to me.

Now there’s a debate. Does gold have value?
I’d personally say no, it doesn’t.
How about a guild loan?
Guardian
It’s 10g! You could make that in no time or in the least get 10 members to chip in 1g apiece and pay them back after your transfer. Seriously! Are you really that upset about this that you can’t see the simple solutions right in front of you?
Heck, I’ll send you 1g just to get you started.
Closer to 36g

Don’t get mad. Was a genuine question. And I have asked a second one to boot.
Not mad mate, genuinely amused.
It’s one of the more comedic sides of the internet when you see people trying to prove such sweeping and general points and “Noone will miss you!” about someone they know nothing about. By all means, if you think there is mileage in this line of discussion, do carry on.
However, I guess I need to say for the benefit of the mods, this thread was intended to spark a discussion of whether 1800 gems is an appropriate price for server transfers, given that it has driven at least one player from the game. The discussion of whether I have any friends is an unexpected side-benefit. Lol.
And I find it comedic you assume I was trying to prove that point. Do continue making such assumptions. If you have not given out your information, then that’s a good enough reason.
Then I’ll state my opinion clearly. If your “friends” cannot take a few hours of their game time to help a guildie, then they are not worth your time.
I have no idea what your 10yrs of experience has been like, nor do I know what kind of gamers you choose to surround yourself with, but I have never NOT been in a guild for a more than a few days where the guildies refuse to help each other out.
And to remain on topic, and to stray from offering solutions, I believe 1800 gems is too cheap. A couple days worth of of effort can amass the gold needed for that.

If they were such good friends, how did you disappear for a month, and not get informed of the server switch?
They are GW2 buddies. I don’t generally give out my contact information to anyone in games unless I have some other RL reason for wanting to be in contact with them. While not in the game, they had no way to contact me.
It’s kinda amusing that you are trying to argue a case for noone missing me in game. Is that really an argument you think is worth pursuing with a complete stranger? You’ve got no idea how many in game friends I have or what my relationship with them is, so any argument you will make will be based on no knowledge at all. I’ll be interested to see if you nevertheless barrel ahead with it.
Don’t get mad. Was a genuine question. Your answer is Fair Enough. And now I have asked a second one to boot.
Guardian
And a follow up to my earlier question.
If they are your friends and want to play with you, I’m sure it wouldn’t be any trouble to run an AC and CoF for money, then each donates their profit to you for gems. 5 runs would be a good 20g. That’s what? 1k gems?
Heck, if someone from my Guild got stuck on another server, and I cared about them at all, my guildies and I would gladly accumulate the money for a transfer.
