Kits are coming in our second elite spec so get use to it.

Spirit Weapons desperately need help. They have been broken since game launch and the devs have failed to even acknowledge there’s a problem.

Shield, Spirit Weapons and now Traps. The Guardian is the trash can of professions.

Engie turrets need help as well, they lack mobility and they die way too easily; Gyros are probably designed to address the community’s complaints about engie’s lackluster turrets (turrets are basically immobile minions). I don’t see how gyros are even related to spirit weapons in the first place. Spirit weapons do need a rework but this thread is jumping the gun, too many assumptions.

Relating the drones with spirit weapons based off the interview with the comparison between the two and how everyone is happy that they are not spirit weapons and the Dev went out of his way to say they will perform better.

Thursday and Friday we will definitely see how good the drones actually are and what spirit weapons should have been.

I will remove my suggestion about spirit weapons and my remark about traps so people can stay on Topic in this thread.

Crystal hibernation defiance>block

Am i the only one who would much rather keep the defiance bar on crystal hibernation and just fix the amount soft ccs chunk off of it? I feel like it is WAY stronger than a block that can be interrupted by any unblockable daze or even fear mark.

The only stab that i can think of that rev could use to cover crystal hibernation would be the stability road from jalis and that combo is a hefty energy sink.

The defiance bar was extremely unreliable when bunkering on point. The awkward moment your bunkering vs someone on point. A thief comes and +1’s you, ur Crystal Hibernation trait auto procs, then you die faster before you can blink cause the thief would CC through that thing using there new physical elite, and you got 25 stacks of vul cause it broke.

Posting my feedback from my Thread cause, yea. I don’t like the new weakness trait, its still RNG procing with a 15 sec ICD. More RNG passives.

Before I go into the Mallyx rage with everyone, this trait is completely gutted.

Redeeming Protection

  • Eye for an Eye: The Redeeming Protection trait has been merged with this one. When Eye for an Eye triggers, you will also gain protection for 5 seconds.
  • Redeeming Protection: This trait has been merged with Eye for an Eye

It was perfect before because of its low 5 second recharge and can proc when your getting 1v2 or when your getting focused in a team fight.

Now you increased its recharge with Eye for an Eye to give it a 45 second cool down and taunt a single foe…

1) 1 v 1 – If someone is taunted they dont really hit that hard when your playing a bunker, if they are disabled with taunt, what is the point of the protection then?

2) Team fight- if 3 ppl decide to target you in a team fight, taunting one person for 3 seconds isnt going to save you, at least if you proc crystal hibernation you can count on Redeeming protection to proc again if your CC’d. With the 45 second recharge I’m not feeling it.

3) Lack of stun breaks – You dont get a lot of stun breaks with Rev and the ones you do cost a lot of energy or you have to use a trait for legend swap which pigeon holes you. Since I run Mallyx/Ventari, I highly depend on this trait to recover from CC.

Now Mallyx.

Though, allies directly impacted this play style. While you were around allies, especially players running support, it created tension and frustration between the two players. You wouldn’t want to be near these other players that removed conditions from you as it weakened your skills.

I really dont know who you got that feedback from, whoever it was doesn’t PvP.

1) You killed the condi application, plain and simple, I used the elite when Rezzing team mates or cleaving the enemy team on point, it was great for punishing team comps that relied a lot on condis pressure. Even when your team mates use support condi clear, you would still get a full bar of conditions cause of the high condi pressure on the point.

2) If you got 1 v 2 on point bunkering, it gave you a great anti pressure tool to keep them off the point

3) Destroyed the use of toggling the elite on and off – Toggling it on to get the 3 second condi burst on players was great cause you can still apply condi pressure while still having enough energy to use my other skills/utilities

What am I suppose to do now? Turn on the elite and let it drain all my energy and just press 111111111111111111111111111 in hopes the enemy is in melee range to get hit.

At lease with copying condis, you could copy a snare on the enemy to keep them in place, now it sucks.

Yes, I have full ascended settler weapons, armor, Legendary Shield for role playing points, full set of apothacary accessories. And I am in the middle of making the legendary axe frostfang

Everything is fully infused with WvW toughness infusions

However since the death of Mallyx with the nerfs it prob wont be good and I wasted a lot of time, gold and effort

ive gotten infractions for using the common gw2 slang of aids and cancer in condi discussions because moderators consider it “pejorative”. while i think their stance is stupid and maybe that slang exists because poor design of condition based play leads to players having negative connotations about conditions, your feedback wont be heard if they come in and delete your main post because of the content.

This is why GW2 Tournaments are a joke. Too many restrictions, with age included, preventing teams from playing.

Major tournis in other games (like with Fighting games ) don’t have these ridiculous restrictions that favor specific teams.

(Leaving this reply personally, not as a representative for ESL)

FGC is extremely informal in it’s handling overall, and most events are LAN events, which helps to make having more people involved easier.

Online events in a more formal setting have a few more things to worry about which explain age/country limitations. Taxes, intellectual property laws, and other regulation can make delivering prizing or having underaged (or even of age depending on the country) participants from a certain country involved extremely complicated and could leave the organization running the event liable to suit or possibly being shut down completely, this is why you often see these problems from my personal experience.

You can justify the restrictions because the tourney is online but that still doesn’t change what I said, it hinders competition and prevents teams from playing in a already, small population. Its still a joke and can’t be taken seriously.

FGC has EVO, the largest fighting game tourney in the world where anyone can compete from any country and any age Hell, they even pay to fly players from other parts of the world to represent their country so they can actually call EVO, A World Tournament.

You even have prodigies like Noah (8-year old) who placed top 48 in MVC 3 at EVO. Who knows, maybe there is a GW2 Prodigy out there, we will never know will we.

Yes its not a LAN tourney, but its a very large event with hundreds of thousands of ppl watching and to say GW2 is more formal when it only has 4 teams competing in a given tournament just boggles my mind.

If they can find work arounds for “all these restrictions” for the sake of a more competitive environment I am sure tournament hosts for GW2 can to.

These rules don’t favour any specific team, lmfao. They apply to all, just because a team has chosen to have illegible players (whether through age or location) is their fault. The rules haven’t suddenly changed.

And Yes it does favor legible teams indirectly cause it makes the competition smaller, with less good players to worry about in your pools. It is no teams fault, only the organizers.

Revenant is Too Weak to Condis

Bunker Build with Ventari and Jalis does fine against 1 v 1 condi builds on point.

Jalis has condi cleanse on Heal (3)
Staff gives condi cleanse (2)
Ventari gives you condi cleanse (3)
Sigils can give you condi cleanse (1)
Invocation: Cleansing Channel gives you a condi cleanse (1)

Also Ventari has the bubble to block projectiles, so you can block a lot of condi pressure using this skill so you don’t even have to use cleanses. The same with shield 5.

However when Rev gets 2 v 1 and one is a condi build and one is zerk, it becomes much harder to focus on bunking the 2 sources of dmg.

I also dont consider Mallyx a good way of dealing with condis because players will eventually adapt and strip the resistance boon away, making you melt.

Necros and another Rev using Mallyx has the boon removal to easily do so.

The tablet is amazing for PvP bunker Idk why there are so many saying its only good for pve. Keeping the Tablet on point you can give heals, block projectiles (countering engis, rangers, litch form, ect…..), condi cleanse on point.

With the Herald trait line and Dwyana runes you can give party members near you lots of protection and regen.

You can even use the heal utility when your CC’d

Its near perfect the only things I noticed is.

1) when you die with the tablet out, after respawn the tablet becomes invisible and you have to reset the legend by swapping.

2) The tablet should come immediately out when you switch to this stance so you can use your utilities faster. I didn’t like how you had to switch to the stance THEN press the heal to summon the tablet, takes too long.

What if they change it to: Automatically overload the attunement you are currently in (doesn’t put overload to cd and doesn’t incerase your current att cd)
I think that this will fit more and can be a lot more useful.

Or something like eles have long been calling for (seen a lot of signet suggestions like this):

On use, refresh the cooldown of all your attunements.

omg im so happy they brought the exhaustion mechanic back from guild wars 1.

Casting insanely powerful spells with a drawback so you had to use it at the right moment.
I miss the times where Gale had no cool down in GW1 but used exhaustion instead : D

Really? Because exhaustion seems to only apply to the ele like always. Other classes get better mechanics.

Its the risk and reward play style I like.

Except this is 90% risk.,getting locked out of your skills for 20 secs does not sound very rewarding. Especially given how terrible a lot of weapon skills are, but hey what do i know. Some people enjoy pain others do not.

The only thing I don’t like is that you can be interrupted while overcharging, and Karl is saying overcharging can take 2.5-5seconds (with a channeling animation) where you can be interrupted and when that happens it auto goes on cool down.

With all the interrupts flying around you have to use them very strategically and a lot of cases will be interrupted.

So these spells better be nothing short then amazing otherwise your right when saying the risk is much higher then the reward.

I wanna try Sword/Mace and Shield. Using mace in combination with sword to chill and stick on enemies and shield to heal (possibly)

idk it really depends on what the skills for shield are going to be…

For large, long, cluster fest fights where going melee is suicidal, I could just set back and range support with Ventari.

10% dmg reduction within 360 range (little bit longer then a lightening whip attack)

At first I thought this trait was going to be a little bit strong, but now I think they over nerfed it. Would be nice to have a public test server >_>.

I think there should be something in the middle ex:
Either 10% dmg reduction at 600 range or 20% dmg at 360 range

Also they did mention they changed the ICD to Soothing Ice from 10 seconds to 20 seconds which made me do the kitten motion to my computer screen >_>

I think 15 seconds would be more reasonable

Revenant vs. Bunker Guard

Ventari Revenant won’t be anything other than a delusion for people who want an MMO trinity healer (it won’t be). The strength of bunker guard has always been the boon support and condi clear. Revenant can’t lay a finger on that.

Revenants are slowly gaining that role, they already have some boon support and condi clear already and there is still 2 other legends they are releasing. People are speculating Glint may give boon support and the Devs did say Vantari will be strong with a other legend they didn’t release it.

As of right now with Jalis/Ventari combination, support is (not including what weapon you use)

-Regen (anyone near the tablet gains 2 seconds of regen with a 1 second down time traited)
-Stability (Inspiring Reinforcement)
- Dmg Mitigation (Dwarf elite, similar to protection)
-Condi Removal (Purifying Essence, heals players for each condi removed)

But I am holding judgement how the Rev is vs bunker Guard until they release the other 2 legends since one of them could be boon support.

Who knows maybe Rev + Support Guardian Duo will be unkillable : 3

Sure you can maintain swiftness if you use a staff and retreat properly, but what some of you are suggesting is that we sacrifice a useless weapon for a useless one like guardian staff while other classes can just pick a trait or one utility. Guardians have already been shot on with their reveal. Terrible name, useless skills, mediocre weapon skills, and left in the dust as far as speed goes.

Staff is definitely not a useless weapon.. wut???? : O

For wvw, pack runes/staff/save yourself gives you plenty of in-combat swiftness.

Outside of in-combat I just switch retreat if I need to get somewhere and Leopard form when I need to run from zergs. When I am expecting a fight I just switch my utility/elite to w/e.

Not the best solution but heeyyy, I rather be built to fight then built to run. When Guardian goes in, its 100% commitment, first ones in, last ones out. Which is the main reason I dropped my warrior and played guardian, I like that mentality.

For the interest of build diversity it would be nice tho to have a 25% movement trait so I could try different things out without moving like a rock.

Did anyone notice that they kept the 3 stacks of might you gain per block trait.

When they were showing the new traits the devs were thinking of changing it but kept it so far for in the dueling demo they just showed.

I’ll gladly take 3 stacks of might per block over anything else for how insanely strong it can be with certain builds.

They should make the new courage virtue proc “block” so it can synagize with other blocking traits / runes .

Other then that I was hoping they would of showed different builds in spvp, while dueling the warrior that wasn’t meditation (no offense medi guards, just wanna see something new)

I bet you everyone could say the same about wanting the same amount of blocks. Personally, I’m fine not having the perma speed on guard, and doubly fine that we’re finally getting a 1200 range weapon that actually works at 1200 range. Finally, a way to camp from afar and only port in when the moment is right.

I’m saying that you should space your virtues out before popping RF. In case you didnt know, virtues are very powerful additions to your defense, so popping RF without first having used them only to burst them all because you didn’t know when and how to, is in fact, bad.

This is assuming you know what my build is and Virtues are traited.
My build is 2/0/6/6/0.
My virtues dont give blinds, regen, dont clear condis, dont give protection, dont give retal, dont give stab, and have extremely long cool downs.

Yes, virtue management is important but this build doesn’t require that much in virtue management. The only times I actually pop my virtues is when I need to support allies, heal my self to keep me alive long enough to enter staff, or block single hitting attacks like warrior hammer. So most of the time, they are in a passive state because my build doesnt need virtue management as badly as other builds do, and passive effects are strong on this build.

Also…

You want to keep your ultra support build, that, by the way, is still getting buffed, then by all means go ahead. Calling these changes bad because they don’t fit YOUR play style is ridiculous.

I didnt call the trait-line bad, I just said “I wasn’t comfortable” and having your virtue interrupt your renewed focus is not good. Doesn’t mean its bad, it just cuts options. The build I mentioned above will be different when the patch hits.

I might go 0/0/6/6/6, who knows, when virtue management becomes important to me and I would change my playstyle. Otherwise going 6/0/6/6/0 requires very little virtue management and might try that as well for the extra dmg.

However I did make a thread calling traps bad, but that’s a different argument all together

I just get the impression that Robert has a much better grasp on what players want with these specializations than Karl does. If the rest of the specs look more like the Reaper and Chronomancer, we’ll have been completely shafted.

I like to address another concern with Traps and that’s skills that give players invulnerability or any kind of damage mitigation like warrior stances, and the new resistance boon, completely negating the trap

Putting a Trap on your utility bar means you’re giving up a big utility slot and replacing, meditations, shouts, or a consecration skill depending on your Build.

The concern is I feel trap will be useless against classes that know how to mitigate damage through their skills:

Let’s assume all traps were unblockable, even if its only just one that is lol….

1) New Resistance Boon: This new boon will be available in HOT giving immunity to condis, so far we know the Revenant will have access to this boon. Any trap build that is condi based and uses Piercing Light trait to stack lots of bleeds with the traps would be devastated from this boon. Someone with resistance can literally walk up to the traps and yea…..
2) Warrior Stances: depending on the Guard build, last stand or Berserker Stance
3) Ele: Mist Form
4) Mesmers: Distortion
5) Rangers: Immunity Signet
6) Guardians: Renewed Focus
7) Stacking on –condi duration for movement, Immune to cripple.
8) Necro: Flesh worm or Spectral Recall Just walk on traps to activate and quickly recall back to bait activations.
9) Teleports – I wouldn’t be surprised if you can completely negate the elite trap by Teleporting away either with Mesmer/Ele Blinks
10) Walking Away – Someone sees you with traps, just walk away, it’s not like you’re going to catch them, you are a Guardian.
11) Ele for the third time: Obsidian Flesh
12) Ele for the 4th time lol….. Diamond Skin

There are so many ways to mitigate damage and conditions that traps are very underwhelming not just for not having sustain, stun breakers or condi removal, but being completely negated.

Why would I buy HOT for the elite specialization and give up a utility skill for something being hard countered from good players?

Traps can be completely negated and become useless. The traps have long cool downs too, so it would take a long time to re apply….Going traps literally turns you into a “one trick pony,” which can be countered so easily, not really worth it…

Looking at the other 2 elite specs, they have counters however they cant be super hard countered like the way traps can….

With smite being a symbol Guardians can potentially run Scepter/Focus and Staff taking advantage on the new Symbol Grandmaster Trait. While at the same time Stacking might with Staff and lots of blocks (might on block trait) : P

I can understand time gating crafting/items when they come out, but time gating everything years later just leaves everyone way behind.

I have to wait months for laurels to get the recipes to make the ascended gear that everyone already has. Seems kind of stupid.

Cause they want you to continue to log in and play. Making things time gated keeps people playing.

With that being said, I really hate it when you gear for more then one build or gearing multiple characters.

I like using the WvW infusions to maximize stats on infusion slots, so Laurel consumption is high, omnomnomnom
