Because we can’t be angry about both?
I’ve never seen one of them go on sale for lower than the set price. That doesn’t mean they won’t, but most limited-time items don’t.
I’ve been hoping for a sale on character slots since the March sale was announced and now they’re here!
I would love to know when you’re taking commissions again!
Could you guys add this information to the official blog on this topic? Many people are confused over what’s actually happening next week.
What? Why are they removing transaction history?
3 million players… 10,000+ transactions per player which include date, item, quantity, and price…
While i’m sure they love storing 100’s of billions of items in their database it is probably slowing down the TP trying to access them.
So it wasn’t slowing things down for the last two years? It just seems like an arbitrary decision to make.
Good luck to you! Enjoy the places life is taking you!
What? Why are they removing transaction history?
You do amazing work. I’ll be saving up for one of these.
thats why i was confused when everyone was saying that vols guide will be dead after the 15th, so a few 1-15 metas cant be done big whoop
It’s been changed so that the update to megaservers will take effect on low population maps and the PvP lobby. It’s still unclear which maps they consider to be low population.
Laurels are a plant.
Snaff
Because of reasons.
IIRC=If I recall correctly.
I am really baffled at how you can claim to be about PvE and still not want to level up in PvE. Is what you’re planning to do at 80 really that different from what you’re doing before 80?
It’s ‘funny’ how the word exciting is used for the introduction of a system that makes the most interesting and beautiful monsters in the game as boring and predictable as your average public tv programme. Oh look, the fire elemental is going to spontaneously explode in 5 minutes, better grab mah tea. Bleh.
That’s how it is already. The megaserver boss schedule is a minor tweak compared to all the other system updates coming. How would the boss spawning randomly be any more exciting? You’d either miss it or have to camp it for hours to get your salvage green and pink rock. What great game design you pine for
At least if you miss it now, you’d have a chance again in less than 3 hours in most cases. FE currently spawns hourly, if I’m not mistaken.
A five hour window in between boss rotation rounds is super inconvenient.
Doing mega boss fights involves a LOT of standing around and waiting already, but at least right now, after fighting Tequatl or the Wurm, you can head right on to the Karka Queen without having to wait another 40 minutes. :\
So the champion train suffers? and this is a bad thing how?
That’s not a champion train.
Only maps in the megaserver will be affected by the waypoint issue.
Sorry, this is totally wrong.
…we’ve decided to disable reporting of world state across maps entirely.
Is it true that they’ll be selling unidentified dyes in the gemstore?
(edited by Guhracie.3419)
As with any load balancing system, selection is made FOR you. What would the point be of the megaserver if people could still select the instance they wanted? Kind of breaks the idea. As far as prices, yeah, T6 mats will continue to climb (as if 40 silver for a vicious claw isn’t high enough) as farming becomes harder.
I would say prices for rare armor and weapons will also climb since the event schedule is going to be limited. Since they are hitting home cities and 1-15 zones first, there goes the queensdale champ train, the maw and FE.
The champ train will be unaffected. Champs are not world bosses. Maw, FE and Shadow Behemoth will be affected by this.
Edit: They’re also not hitting racial cities/level 1-15 zones first, so that’s sort of a nonissue. There’s an update thread in the Discussions area.

That’s not the meaning of the name.
I never use the “merge bags” option because then I can’t tell where my “normal bags” end and “invisible bags” begin
I would use a compact layout if it created individual sections for the different bag types.
I don’t mean merge bags, I mean “compact” which smushes everything together. Including items that are stackable.
Congratulations everyone!
Pouncy Silverkit makes his Fractals debut, and the thrill has really gone to his head! Dusk falls on the swampland, but he and his companion (Who is that??) brighten up the evening like flowers against the green.
Although I see this approach as not helping. I’m not worried as much about this system in low pop maps. I’m worried about it in high pop maps, like cities, or when a guild event happens. If my whole guild can’t get into a map and keeps getting split because you can’t shove out randoms… gg.
I’m not sure how so many people still think this will be a problem. They’ve addressed it multiple times.
In short, your guild (as well as people in your friend list and home server) will all be put in the same instance, and you can still “taxi” people into the instance you’re in.
I don’t think you are understanding the problem of this algorithm happening over time. You can’t “kick” people out of a map who are already there. So if my guild starts zoning into fireheart rise over the course of 3 minutes we will each get prioritized at different times, not all at once. So the first person into the zone will get placed into a map that fits his needs, and that could be a zone with mainly SBI people because the rest of the guild isn’t there yet. The next person might get placed with him because they are in the same guild, but eventually that map fills up and the rest of the guild has to be in another map, that may also have random people in it.
Basically the flaw it doesn’t all happen at once. Each evaluation is separate. So since you can’t be shuffling people out of maps constatnyl you just keep filling them up. You are going to end up with random people because that is the nature of this. And quite often they will replace spots that your guildies could have taken to be with you.
It is complicated and may take some time to think about, but if you write the progression down on paper you will see that the fundamental flaw in this is that you can only add to a map (and the system is also going to be adding to a map constantly), and can’t forcible subtract.
You never could forcibly subtract anyone from a map instance, though. And you will still have access to a /join command, according to something I read somewhere. (If anyone has the source for this, I’d appreciate the assist)
This doesn’t address the issue with the scheduling of world events, though.
Ranger
Guardian
Thief
Elementalist
Necromancer
Mesmer
Warrior (vengeance, especially at lower levels)
Engineer (agree totally)
Edit: To swap thief and guardian. Also to note that I play PvE content pretty much exclusively, so that’s where my ranking is coming from.
(edited by Guhracie.3419)
I’d like a “compact” option for bank/guild banks (the latter with the proper permissions attached), like there is on the bag dropdown menu.
Weapon swapping is totally separate from weapon equipping. You will not lose stacks for swapping.
Let’s hope that is what the intent is. Thanks.
I can’t find the dev post, but it was confirmed somewhere that swapping is not the same as unequipping a weapon.
I think it’s interesting that ANET chose to put this at the end of the information cycle, rather than trying to bury it by dropping it from the start and then madly waving their hands with a song and dance about the wardrobe. Except I suppose the wardrobe has the whole townclothes thing attached to it.
The waypoint “solution” is terrible. The lack of “main” servers is terrible. Events on a schedule is terrible. Just do what I suggested months ago and use “underflow” servers. If my main server is full, reroute me to a server that’s not full. Pretty straightforward.
That’s not what’s going to happen, of course. I was cautiously optimistic about the patch before today.
I miss loot tables. Maybe not to the degree that they exist in other games, but I’d like to go somewhere and have a reasonable chance of specific items dropping. Dyes were pretty much the highlight of my drops, and since they’re not going to be drops anymore…. When everything is a worldwide drop, all you have is luck. It’s not about persistence or skill anymore, and what is the fun in that?
Well
Specific champions can drop specific exotics
Specific world bosses and bosses in dungeons can drop exotics unique to them
Raid bosses (like Tequatl) can drop ascendeds unique to them
Fractals are the only place to get fractal weapons and also have an increased chance to give you ascendeds.
Yeah, I guess I wasn’t clear. I get that there are a form of loot tables here, but there’s a difference between what GW2 does and having a “reasonable” chance at certain items. When it makes more sense to open up the trading post and buy an item than attempt to find it via drops, it’s not a very compelling loot table. (Obviously this excludes items that can’t be found on the trading post, like ascended chests and fractal weapons.)
GW2 does not focus on horizontal progression. It was supposed to but that fell by the wayside. The new feature patch will help but it still focuses on vertical progression.
It’s not really vertical if you can jump from blues to ascendeds without having to go trough all the other tiers.
Your use of the word “jump” proves that it is vertical. Vertical refers to an increase in power. It doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to go through each iteration to reach the next, only that it is a jump in stats/power. (See also: Nike’s Moa Test: Does X make it easier for me to kill a moa? If so, it’s vertical progression.)
Another idea is to add a tag to enable/disable (like the LFG tag) when one is open to RP.

This is NOT a bad suggestion at all. Should be presented in the Suggestions forum, however.
They moved the Suggestions forum to the the Archives section. I was under the impression they have moved away from it. Is this not the case? It does not appear to be active anymore.
No, you’re correct. They now want suggestions to be in the most appropriate subforum for the suggestion. This seems to be as good a place as any for it.
You know what else they should do? Remove the divide between PvP and PvE gear. Oh, and they should consider making dyes account-unlocks, rather than character-unlocks. And can someone out there PUHlease get to work on a wardrobe system?
Seems to be a little broken- it doesn’t take into account how much I want to invest. Neat idea, though!
I have the perfect character for this!
This is the post some of you are thinking of.
I really hope this include a massive nerf to certain champs (if not all) like the Krait Witch or Horace. Those are extremely hard to kill even with a lvl 80 in full ascended gear.
Not to mention the Blood Witch or similar champs impossible to kill without either a big group or a small party of extremely good players.First of all, every champ in the open world is soloable. Second, you’ll be able to retrait instantly and for free to get ready for a specific fight, so it should be no worries. You could even just facetank everything, since almost no enemies can heal themselves.
Huh. I’ve never seen anyone solo Jormag. Or Tequatl.
EDIT: Oh, and for someone who asked about being compensated for gold spent on manuals, I suspect that the compensation is not having to unlock/buy unlocks of the new traits on our existing characters.
I do not miss the trinity. If I wanted to play the trinity, I’d play ANY OTHER MMO on the market. I am perfectly happy that I don’t have to accommodate my playstyle in order to get a functional group running. “Can anyone here tank??” crickets “Okay, let me get the character I didn’t log in with because I didn’t feel like playing it or that role and we’ll go….” or “LFTank then g2g!” for hours on end. No, thanks. I’m not wearing rose-colored glasses for that particular nightmare.
Chris, why has your post been edited so instead of you not engaging at the current time was changed to not engaging at all, ever. Are you stating it’s over?
I am.
Chris
Yup. So I’m done with ever trying anything on these forums again. Been a great ride you guys.
I’ve been out of town, so I just now saw this. Man. I really don’t have the words to say how much of a gut-punch that is.
I’ll still defend Josh Foreman and Gaile Gray, but I’m done defending the rest of ANET in any capacity. (I’m not saying I’m going to trash anyone, to be clear, but I make an effort to defend those I feel have worked hard for the community and I just…. no longer feel I can do that.)
And I am so done with buying gems.
I am, frankly, appalled right now. I kind of wish I could just scrub my forum presence entirely.
I’m sorry, you guys. I really thought he’d do the right thing. I guess that’s that.
Is anyone else having problems getting credit for jumping puzzles? This is occurring in multiple puzzles and across maps.
I don’t know why anyone was expecting any actual dialogue about fractals. People have been telling them exactly what is broken / not fun / badly designed about them for over a year now and they haven’t paid attention to any of it so far.
I was expecting the dialogue because Chris Whiteside said it was coming. Previously, Chris was someone who went out of his way to do the right thing. I figured I could rely on him for this. I’m clearly not the only one who has been disappointed here. Regardless, I won’t be making this mistake again.
Jaya! Congrats on the car! (I missed it earlier!)

When I use a 10% MF banner, my MF% goes from 95% to 105%. I’d say it’s a flat increase.
Largos, Tengu and Kodan. Kodan naming conventions are the BEST.
I don’t know how feasible it would be to implement, but I like it on a conceptual level.
Please read my above comment.
Here let me quote it.
Lol, Guhracie I love that you call me Jaya. They might not know who you’re talking about.
Anyway, I don’t care what his reasoning is… He took the time to basically call out the hardcore fractal community on the day of his hospital visit and continue the fight with this community that had started with this thread. That implies to me that he has stopped listening to all of us, because of his comments to, hendo? Haviz? It was an h name.
I was being sincere when I said that you seemed reasonable. That’s the entire reason that I asked you if that could be the reason. I figured you would be the one most likely to give a reasonable, honest answer.
Also, I’m in complete agreement with your last two sentences. I think people like that are the exact reason why he never gave the response he planned to give about the Reset.
There have been some Fractal players that have made some very respectable posts about everything that happened. But, unfortunately, there have been far more people that have done nothing but directly attack the Devs and post demands in threads that had absolutely nothing to do with the Fractal Reset. I feel that that majority of people cost the other players the answer that they all deserved.
I don’t feel like you’re reading what she’s writing, for some reason. Nowhere does she say that she believes other people are the reason Chris didn’t give his response. And I’d disagree with that, because I think the reason Chris didn’t give his response is because he’s been thinking “Izzy took care of this. Not my problem anymore.”
I’m sorry that you find me unreasonable, but I’m still going to respond to your posts. Even when they’re not asking me personally.
sigh
If you’re going to insist on doing so, at least actually read what I say. I didn’t say anything about Lilith thinking other people were the reason he didn’t respond. I said that I thought that.
Okay, look. I know I can be abrasive. Sometimes it’s intentional, and sometimes it’s not. I am honestly trying to have a conversation about what you’re saying. Please try to read this with utter sincerity, while I explain what I’m reading and how it’s translating in my head. Then I will read your response with utter sincerity while you explain what I’m getting wrong, and hopefully we will have shared understanding. (I mean this. There’s no tone in text, but I swear to the Seven, I do.)
So you say, " I’m in complete agreement with your last two sentences."
I look, and other than trying to remember the name, the last two sentences in Lilith’s post are: “He [Chris Whiteside] took the time to basically call out the hardcore fractal community on the day of his hospital visit and continue the fight with this community that had started with this thread. That implies to me that he has stopped listening to all of us, because of his comments to, hendo?”
Then you conclude your agreement with, “I think people like that are the exact reason why he never gave the response he planned to give about the Reset.”
In my mind, this sentence exists in order to summarize and affirm what it is you agree with about her statement, which is where I have stumbled, because I don’t think your statement affirms anything about what she actually said.
What I hear Lilith saying (Jaya, correct me if I’m mistaken here): “If he’s feeling poorly, fine, but he’s the one who stirred the pot on the day of his hospital visit, and in response to a rather benign post, at that.”
What I hear you saying: “Yeah! Those people arguing with him are why you guys never got a response.”
That’s my disconnect. Does that make sense? I am not being intentionally obtuse. I really AM this obtuse.
Please read my above comment.

Oh, dang it. Sorry if referring to Lilith as Jaya was the cause of the misunderstanding there. Good point.
And yeah, that’s a pretty spot on assessment of what happened.
Jaya said: “He stopped listening once he made the comment that started this thread.” You replied directly to that statement by saying, “You don’t think his hospital visit had anything to do with that?”
How did you not imply that, please?
Lillith commented on when he stopped posting in the CDI. I asked if his stopping might have something to do with his hospital visit, since they occurred so close together. You just jumped to the conclusion that would lead to the most conflict.>shrug<
This thread could have been extremely inflammatory, and I have worked very hard to make sure it has not been. Your accusation that my intention was to stir up conflict is laughable, in light of that.
You may not have intended to imply that Chris’s statements were connected to his visit to the hospital, but you did imply exactly that.
Jaya didn’t say he quit posting she said he quit listening and I don’t believe that has anything to do with his medical issue, to address your clarification.
Jaya said: “He stopped listening once he made the comment that started this thread.” You replied directly to that statement by saying, “You don’t think his hospital visit had anything to do with that?”

He stopped listening once he made the comment that started this thread.
You seem like a pretty reasonable person, so I ask: do you not think his hospital visit had anything to do with that?
I don’t think his hospital visit had anything to do with the comment he made that started this thread, no.
Simple human psychology. People feel that zones in which they are level 80 are endgame zones.
If you are downscaled you feel weaker. It might not be true or even the opposite, but that’s just how the brain works.
I might agree if the endgame zones were where people tend to congregate, but they’re not. Orr is a ghost town (appropriately enough), for example.
I don’t see how this isn’t the case already. The fact that level scaling exists means you can go to any map and have it be fairly challenging, and rewards generally scale to your level rather than the zone’s level, so you’re getting the same stuff everywhere. The lack of loot tables is, in my opinion, more in line with why people don’t feel compelled to break out of the same few areas. I can get (essentially) the same champ boxes from the trains in Frostgorge/Queensdale as I can in more spread out maps. The idea of making the world even more homogeneous (or, since I suspect this will be kittened out as potential hate speech- “same-y”) is not even a little bit appealing to me, personally.
