Because we can’t be angry about both?
Nope, I’ll be playing the same amount. I’ve had a positive experience overall.
I was doing Queensdale Champ Train with lots of people last night. The nerf certainly didn’t deter people on my server. I will be playing the same amount.
What was the nerf? I’ve heard about it but haven’t looked into the details.
Spider and bandit are now veterans. The champ boxes now drop less money than they used to.
This is pretty much spot on for me, as well. Thus far, the positives outweigh the negatives in this patch (for the way I personally play). The wardrobe is such a massive improvement- I got my refund for a duplicate gem item today, which was much faster than I was expecting, and I’m so happy that ascended items are account bound.
I’ve also said in the past that I was not a fan of dyes as account unlocks, but consider me converted.
I feel no guilt using the level 20 experience scrolls.
Tarnished Coast is the unofficial RP server.
Guild vs. Guild is not a thing that exists in the game, that’s why it’s not on the wiki.
PvE with “bouncing” (aoe?) skills: Axe Ranger, shortbow thief, elementalist in some elements, mesmer (greatsword, I think), loads of guardian kits, engineer (grenades, flamethrower, bombs, etc), warrior with many kits… Necro has aoe attacks, but they’re not in a great place right now (in pve, because conditions don’t scale well), but they’re still fun to play. So, yeah, pretty much every class.
I don’t know enough to help you with the numbers in theorycrafting. Hope this helps!

I think you need to learn more about basic economics. You’re using words that have actual meanings in ways you obviously don’t understand. When you say “manipulation” in the context of economics, it has a very specific meaning that is different from when you use it in casual conversation.
It’s hard to have a conversation about anything when there’s no comprehension of the subject matter’s basic lexicon.
The transmutation charge systems means that, for the first time since launch, it’s actually practical to obtain transmutes for your level 80 gear without touching the gemstore and transmutes bought on the gemstore are now cheaper than before.
This. It’s actually practical for me to play around with my look, too, since I’m not just burning skins that I might want later on a different character. As quick as I am to be critical of ANET (and I am), the wardrobe change is almost 100% positive for how I play.
I was hoping to replay the previous installments. I wish it could be added permanently.
I don’t know ANY MMO games that don’t use a form of leveling as a way of progression. Not one.
Many MMOs dont. the first MMOs didnt have character levels. it had other forms of progression.
Didnt need a number on your avatar to tell you your progression.
You’ve been trumpeting this same tune for months now. How many of the first MMOs didn’t have levels? Because leveling is a staple of RPGs. Not having levels is the exception, not the rule.
If GW2 removed leveling, I’d quit.
But it comes from the bottom of my heart.
It’s like they say, old habits die hard.
(I am simply proud of my flipping/flippant pun.)
On topic – never give up, never surrender.
Edit: Pun might not be the right word, but my mind already wandered off and I’m currently trying to catch up.
I actually had to look up what flippant means, as english is my 2nd language.
Off topic, but I never would’ve guessed english isn’t your native language. You use it very well.
I won’t name names, but there’s a person on my server who is known for having a ton of gold/items, who regularly gives stuff away. It’s pretty impressive. <3
Well, my Charrdian is running around killing things as Mad King Thorn now, so…
Keep hope alive!
This thread is seven months old. I highly doubt they are still looking for any sort of resolution at all.
Are you aware that megaserver has not yet been release for Cities? it’s actually only in Hearth of the mist. I think it’s sad that some people would act rude towards you guys, I’m not a RP’er myself but I do enjoy watching and listening to you guys
, I also like when I get a RP’er in my party after posting on LFG tool, I find it very entertaining.
It has been released for The Grove, Rata Sum, and the Black Citadel thus far.
But I appreciate your mentality nevertheless. We’re not trying to “shove RP down people’s throats”. We’re just trying to have fun in our own way. X)
Where does it say it’s been released for those zones? Just curious.
You can’t set buy orders for gems.
I’m not trying to be an kitten here but unless I’ve missed something on a big scale you all need to go back and actually read up on the mega server.
Yes, we’ll all be together and although they’re no longer called “overflows” they’ll still be created when a server reaches it’s populations max…. now correct me if I’m wrong you currently flood a server until someone is put into Z overflow.
This can still be achieved possibly even easier now as the servers are more likely to almost be at their peak before you start flooding it.
It has more to do with the boss schedules than the megaserver itself. The fact that Tequatl, Bloodtide Wurm, and Karka Queen will only be appearing three times a day is a pretty massive change from the current schedule.
As others have said, the whole point of Crab Toss is to prevent anyone else from getting the crab. It’s not griefing, it’s just playing the game. It’s a silly, mad dash-about with giant karka steamrolling all over the place.
I saw this https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/log-in-tomorrow-for-free-transmutation-charges/ when I logged on today.
It says ’ to everyone who logs in between the launch of the Feature Pack and 11:59 p.m. PT Wednesday, April 16 ’.
Edit: I forgot to say… So I guess the update should come around 12.00 p.m. PT Today.
They are giving until midnight the next day to log in.
Yea I know but for example, two updates ago some parts of europe got our update when we where sound asleep
So it would be unfair if this happened again since that would mean that we don’t get ~24h to log in to get our stuff :P So what I mean is that they probably is planing to release the patch around 12.00 p.m. PT Today so that there will be as near 24h as possible. That’s only a theory but I beleave it
Ok, but why would they want to release anything at midnight their time?
Just a note, but 12:00 PM is noon, not midnight.
I remember reading somewhere that transmutation splitters would be worth 5 charges each.
The megaserver isn’t going to be all at once, but the boss schedule is going to be implemented tomorrow.
I still want the paper bag helms…
If it matters, you might want to screencap your transaction history.
I think it’s wonderful!
You will have to pull them from the wardrobe after April 15th. Each use will use up one transmutation charge. There will be a wardrobe that the skins will all go in to be pulled from there.
Here are the upcoming changes:
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/introducing-the-wardrobe-system/
A dev mentioned somewhere that having more than one of the same type of skin (Marjory’s dagger, for example) would mean that you wouldn’t need a transmute charge for one use. So… it’s not exactly clear.
So if I understand you, Your saying that you have to transmute them?
I don’t know for sure how the wardrobe will function with the skins, but you presently don’t have to use any sort of transmute in order to use up the skins.
I think the issue is that ANET is not willing to take part in this sort of discussion. It’s been over a week since they’ve responded in any of the threads, as far as I know, and up to two weeks in some. People have given constructive feedback already. ANET has given the community the cold shoulder. This is going to be implemented as-is, come Tuesday.
Aww, I’m sorry this happened to you. It sucks.
Putting this back on the first page so people can see it.
If you buy armor skins, they can be applied once to your armor, but when the patch hits this tuesday, they’ll go into your wardrobe and you’ll be able to apply them as often as you’d like. Townclothes are being removed on tuesday, as a separate category. Some of them will be usable as outfits or skins in combat, and some of them will become tonics.
They confirmed that cities will still give them but no word on maps.
Well, the topic of this thread is about farming city maps.
Call me a “noob” if you want, but…what does “selling” dungeons mean?
It means going to the end of a hard dungeon path basically solo, then selling the slots to other players who can come in and beat the last boss for quick and easy credit.
I thought they confirmed in the livestream that city exploration would continue to grant a transmutation charge (which is what three of the lesser stones will become after the patch).
Its controlled by rich people who buy out certain items which were originally so cheap then raise it in price from something like 30s to 2g each wtfffff. crafting is so expensive now even to get to 400 -_- smh
There are not that many things that can be monopolized by a few people. Most things exist in quantities that enable the control to be in many hands. There are some hard to find or discontinued items that are expensive, but not as many as you seem to think.
…
I love to use my Wintersday town clothes on my human male, but I really hate how the hat looks on him. I much prefer the coolio aviator sunglasses that he is currently wearing.
I would be very disappointed if he always had to wear that hat. x_xI do like the Mad King’s outfit on my Norn, but I would also like to show his face while wearing it. I would also be very disappointed if he had to wear the pumpkin head all the time. :/
A little added note here, Outfits will still respect the ‘hide helm’ toggle so you can absolutely wear Wintersday or Mad King outfit without the hat or pumpkin.
Here it is!
The livestream confirmed that if you have a single piece of a gemstore armor skin set, you’ll have the whole set unlocked in the wardrobe.
It is amazing how bitter some comments are without even thinking what anet seems to have in mind.
1. They actually have faith in their megaserver system that it will be so better implemented that the high population servers will not see much of a difference. They claim that you will not be scattered but the choice will be based on party, guild and world and that you WILL still have the option to taxi as always. IF this is implemented as good as they claim (Big IF btw) how would that not retain the world sense of community.High popupaltion areas will still be filled with the same guilds from the same worlds. I really do not see the issue if things are actually working.
2. The reason for the very strected world boss schedule is also not arbitrary as many seem to think…Anet actually seems to expect that PvE guilds will organize and activate the bosses more often and keep the average spawn more or less the same as now. Probably if the player base proves them wrong they will end up making the spawning more dense.
I understand the idea of not believing that the claims on how well the megaserver algorithm will work are not going to be true in the end. I have the same worries…But many seem to see problems taking into account the direct claims that anet does, that are acutally there to address the problems they are worring about…
You realize that only 3 of the bosses on the list can be summoned at will by guilds, right?
I’m just fixing what I broke. (New page)
If I have been following everything correctly this is what we know for sure:
Individual (or sold by themselves) town clothing head pieces will be turned into helm armor skins (bunny ears, sunglasses, etc)
Individual other town clothes items that are not head pieces will be turned into undyable, unstackable tonics with the remaining slots filled in with modesty clothing (khaki cargo pants, cherry blossom shirt, etc)
Clothing items that came in a costume set will be turned into a single slot outfit and reduced to only 4 colors – compared to its previous up to 4 colors per individual item – this will include its head piece (so Mad King Thorn with pumpkin head or no Mad King thorn at all)
Refunds to outfits will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Individual items made into tonics can be refunded.
Gems will be what you will get back.
Bold added by me: It was stated somewhere that you could opt to hide the helm in outfits, too. So it’s really MKT w/pumpkin head or MKT w/o pumpkin head, but not with any other helm, either.
I imagine “low pop map” is selected by a bunch of criteria, like
actual population
does it have a boss event
if so, which class of boss is it
The key word in your post is imagine. It would be nice to have confirmation of which maps will be part of the megaserver. However, as it’s been six days with no further communication, I imagine we’ll find out in the patch notes on the 15th.
Well, it’s been a full week of radio silence, now. I guess none of the concerns/questions raised in this thread merit responses.
I’ve been thinking about the new plan for a “gradual” roll out.
We are now planning on releasing the system starting with the PvP lobby and low population maps, and incrementally moving onto the maps with high populations. With this approach, the behavior on level 1 to 15 maps won’t change until we’ve seen the positive confirmation from the community as well as from our metrics that MegaServer is working as expected on lower population maps.
Now, correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t that how the Megaserver is supposed to work when it’s ENTIRELY implemented? Lower population zones are merged, while medium to high are left pretty much alone. Right? Any overflow, when it first forms, will naturally be a low population map as well.
Are they deciding beforehand which zones are “low population” and which ones are not? Or are they going to have the system deciding as the population levels shift throughout the day? If it’s the second, then wouldn’t that mean it’s pretty much fully live from day one?
No. Megaservers will eventually come to all maps. It’s is unstoppable. They’ve spent far too much time and money on the concept to stop now.
That’s not what I’m asking. What I’m asking is if having it work on “low population” zones is or is not pretty much having it go live fully right from day one. And if not, what’s the difference?
I’d like an official answer to this also, but I think the difference is that the low population maps are pre-selected before the patch, and the rest of the maps function like they do currently- complete with overflows, rather than the “priority shard” maps of the mega server. We don’t know which low pop maps will be effected or what the designation actually means, so it also means that the higher traffic maps that aren’t full won’t get smushed together into one instance yet.
In the year twenty-fourteen (2014) of the Current Era of Mankind, in the fourth month, April, upon the ninth day
Lo, there was a sale on Character Slots for the mythical realm of Tyria. And there was much rejoicing, and only some gnashing of teeth and wailing.
:D
I’d love more than 5 guilds. I have two bank/storage guilds taking up my spots, and I’d love to be able to join a RP guild and have another bank spot in addition to my social guilds.
So what’s the word about the livestream? Any update?
I don’t get people who are buying this crap especially for all characters, you are harvesting to earn gold but these tools are too expensive to be profitable.
You don’t buy these tools to make a profit, you buy them for convenience. Or appearance.
But these items aren’t currency used to make purchases…
Okay, then don’t make them part of the wallet. Make them charges on the hero panel somewhere. Same with boosters.
I am not going to wait until September.
It was in the US format of m/d/yy, but I’ll change the topic title to be more accurate.
So what if I have 11,600 now?
…and again there will be no more reward chests once you get to 10,000?
This applies to achievement points gained from daily achievements. If you hover over your points on the summary part of the achievement panel, it breaks down where the points are from. So you can gain 10,000 from daily achievements before dailies will stop awarding points. It has nothing to do with any sort of overall cap to your account achievement points.
They account for this with the weapon swap function. Adding more would be adding imbalance, since classes are balanced around weapon swap. (Engineers and Elementalists can’t swap, for example.) And you can weapon swap while in combat with the swap function.
Just logged in to say:
Thank you ArenaNet for capping dailies and monthlies!!!
Now I don’t feel like I will never possibly catch up because of missing a day or two due to work/life. I didn’t feel like the main source of achievement points should be dailies or monthlies anyways.
Dailies/Monthlies aren’t the main source of achievement points. Even without the cap. Living Story has MANY more points attached to it, and people who’ve been playing longer/more ideally should have more achievement points than new people. This change makes no sense at all.
For items like the Black Lion Trader Express, Merchant, Banker, Res Orb, Repair Kit, or even Boosts, could we have an option to use these from our character menu? Or to be able to have them mailed from our bank?
It’s rather inconvenient to have to remember to take a few on each character to be able to use them effectively.
It would be a huge qol improvement if they were part of the wallet system, with charges, instead of actual items. +1
