And I did mention in my original post in this thread that I was assuming equal weighting. There is no reason to not believe that this is the case. It’s natural that players who are feeling short changed to report their results while players who benefit with the appropriate number or more not to. You can’t get a valid sample from selective reporting. Crowd sourcing data has it’s limits.

I am in no way suggesting that we crowd source. I’m pointing out a flaw in your argument that the odds are known, when they actually aren’t.

I bought two packs of 5 dyes and got none of the new ones and one rare. I’m still kicking myself a few days later over it.

Not the best way to welcome a new player back. At the very least the real chances of getting the new dyes should be on the description instead of a vague “you may win something”

The word “chance” does not mean the same as “guaranteed”. Even if you knew the exact odds, you could realistically be in the same position if you took that chance. Tis RNG.

If I knew the general odds it would definitely affect my buying.

But I guess that is what they are counting on… that the person buying believes it’s a better deal than it really is.

You do know the odds, you just don’t understand them. That’s OK, most people who hadn’t taken Prob and Stats in college don’t (and some who did still don’t). There is a 1 in 16 chance that 10 dyes yield no special ones. There is always a chance of failure. A one on your saving throw. And since the fine dye market collapsed compared to the pre-announcement prices, it’s even more of a loss.

As I mentioned previously, you’re making the assumption that each dye has an equal chance to drop. This is not necessarily the case.

Edit: To expand on this, just for clarity, you’re assuming that we’re reaching into a hat with 25 items in it, and each of those items are one dye, each a different color. The odds change if the hat contains 35 dyes, and 10 of them are olive silk, even though the tooltip is still accurate- it’s choosing from a pool of 25 colors. So what I’m saying is that we don’t know how many of each color are in the hat.

I’d like to know if the outfit I want is going to appear, and I don’t want to have to wait six weeks to find out. Give us a couple of choices, or speed up the sale a little bit. At the very least, release a list of which outfits you’ll be bringing back and when, so I can plan accordingly.

It’s great that you’re bringing back outfits, don’t get me wrong. This system of one per week is just irritating and doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me.

It would make sense – despite the dyes not being THAT special/epic. The fact remains they’re only ever so slightly more shiny than other dyes.

Because the next step for dyes SHOULD be special effect dyes and animated dyes, which should be ascended or legendary rarity.

Support.

No, the next step should be patterned dyes! Plaid, polka dots, cherries, argyle, chevron, paisley…

Sadly, yes. Not only do they not drop from hostiles, you won’t get them from harvesting plants like before either. Either BL chests (not recommended), laurels (only if you have nothing else you want to use them on), or crafting them (I think it’s via the Forge, but I’m not sure).

You can craft specific shades via cooking, as well. (So it would be an unidentified red dye, rather than a straight unidentified dye)

Inherent in any scratch ticket is the fact that your odds of winning are clearly published.

It’s 1/25. I believe it says so square on the tooltip that pops up with the item description text.

That’s assuming each dye has the exact same probability of dropping. I’m not saying that’s not how it works, but it’s possible that it isn’t.

Make one handed weapons viable

Guhracie.3419

Honestly, my preference would be to have a greater variety of weapons available to the professions and then new weapon types introduced before I’d be interested in adding a system where you get two new weapon skills for only wielding a one-handed weapon.

I want engineers to be able to use hammers and maybe staves, thieves to be able to use axes and rifles, and elementalists to be able to use a mace. Then I want great-axes, polearms and crossbows.

It’s an interesting idea, but ultimately there are just so many other things that would be more worthwhile, in my opinion.

I have a sword warrior and he isn’t too bad. I run him around Orr and he hacks away at the evil dead quite well by themselves or in 5s and 6es. Grouped with someone playing a 2hander though I feel he’s below what he should really be. So, yeah.

I have a shield guardian and she saved the day during the Marionette, and other events, more than once so I’d say they aren’t in a bad spot. I’m not an awesome player but I get a decent go out of her.

I’m embarrassed to play my axe ranger in front of people…

I don’t have a dagger thief so I can’t really comment there.

The OP isn’t talking about using one-handed weapons in combination with off-hand weapons, they’re talking about only having the one sword, dagger, axe, scepter, mace OR a shield equipped.

Then maybe the OP can tell me that since only having a shield equipped would be dumb. I can’t imagine for a second that that’s what he means. He asked for feedback and I provided some.

Wouldn’t it be awesome to have one weapon builds in the future?
Everyone dual-wields in Gw2 which is even weird to a degree.

Give every weapon 5 skills, as if it were two-handed. That would bring more build diversity and even personality.

I’ve bolded the important bit for you.

Then I suppose I just need to learn the new timers. I had thought GW2Stuff’s timer had updated to the new schedule.

I am curious tho. Why would pre-events for Maw go outside of it’s new scheduled time only to occur again when it is scheduled? Did they break up the event chain?

The pre-events now run more often, probably just to have more events in the zone. I agree that it’s confusing at first, but it’s just a thing to get used to, in my opinion. If it’s not a quarter after an odd hour, Maw isn’t going on. (An odd hour server time, I mean.)

The events run independently of the world bosses. There’s a schedule for bosses now, so the API doesn’t work anymore. Look for the schedule on the blog. There are some timer sites people have linked to as well, to help you keep track.

So if it’s time for Maw to spawn, the pre-events will lead to the Svanir Shaman spawning, and if it’s not time, then Brogun will be all, “We won! Let’s go have an ale!”

I post on a policy of stating my opinion and while that might not be posative feedback, the points I make are made because I want this game to get better but right now, it’s dying. They do not listen to us, take conditions.

Afew months ago they said they would fix conditions. They are not fixed, all they did was add a new condition, one which didn’t do anything special.

The very fact they made a april fools joke on Reddit about a expansion annoys me even more, as if they do not need an expansion. The fact is, they do and every day they refuse to announce one is 1-1000 lost players.

I’m pretty sure the Reddit thing was not an ANET-sponsored prank, or it would’ve been promoted on their website. Can anyone confirm?

It really depends on where your focus is. If you don’t mind retrieving new gathering tools when you run out (or storing extras in your inventory), the unlimited harvesting tools aren’t terribly convenient. The salvage-o-matic ends up costing you nearly as much as a basic harvesting kit, since it’s 3c per salvage. 25 charges=75c. A basic salvage kit will cost you 88c from a vendor. It’s about the convenience of never running out that makes the salvage-o-matic appealing to some people. (I have one, I like it.)

I wouldn’t mess with mystic forge stones, but if you like alts, then you’re going to want to get more character slots. If you hoard stuff, you’ll want another bank tab. Those are pretty solid purchases.

If you want to go for the look, then I can highly recommend makeover kits, hairstyle kits, and armor skins. I think the viper set is really nice, without being kitteny. Medium aetherblade and magitech are also very well done. I also really like the rampager set (that’s the new heavy skin, right? That’s the one I mean) for heavy armor classes.

I hope you enjoy whatever it is you decide to get, and welcome to the game!

I think it’s offensive to stand there and wag your finger in an attempt to “correct” the “negativity” in the forum. As if you and your positive feedback are more worthy than the people posting negative feedback.

There are plenty of forms of communication I disapprove of personally, but it’s not my job to set guidelines on this forum, nor is it yours.

This patch has been overwhelmingly positive in accordance with the way I play. There are plenty of issues that are very real and quite negative for a number of people. Those people have a right to be heard. Their dissatisfaction is costing ANET money. I don’t think saying “Shame on you” is a tactic that will help ANET.

It’s fine that you like the patch. It’s not fine that you think you’re entitled to dictate how people post. I’m sure there’s a place to apply for a job as a moderator, if you’re interested in making sure the forum guidelines are upheld.

Edit:

Players who are satisfied rarely post about how satisfied they are. Forums generally represent a vocal minority.

Actually…. that’s a myth.

The people who post on the forums are the most passionate about the game. Good companies understand how customer feedback works and pay attention. Bad companies believe the myth and wonder why their customer base is shrinking.

Quoted for truth! +1

Gotta run a mile that way. Forgot you had materials in the guild bank? Run a mile the other way. Please, as if that was convenient. The Grove was far more convenient than LA and even ebonhawke or DR. STILL is more convenient. The airship? Yes, you’re paying for convenience because everything is practically on top of each other.

Seriously? You know that you can use ANY crafting station as a bank, right?

Congratulations, you’ve failed to read. I’ve put the word you conveniently missed in bold. Second, you seemed to have a minor brain fart: resources in the player bank are treated as being in your collection.

I did misread that, my apologies.

I did not have a brain fart, though. I had assumed you were talking about needing items from your bank for the trading post. I bank items I don’t want to sell immediately.

And for Carzors point of the LA-convenience, that’s exactly what it is, convenience. I can still go to any of the Major Cities (I’m a big fan of Rata Sum) for any of the things that used to be in LA, for the Mystic Forge I quickly hope into PvP or the Vigil Keep, so I once again don’t see the issue with them offering those Airship passes. I still get the exact same services, I just have to walk a tiny bit further. Now if they locked the Mystic Forge, Laurel Vendors and Crafting stations behind a gem-store purchase with no other way of accessing them, we’d have a point.

It’s the principle which is the problem though: they took a feature out of the game we paid for and want us to buy it as a microtransaction, despite the fact that we already paid for it when we bought the game.

LA was never convenient. Anyone who says otherwise clearly only stood around and used the chat. Oh look, you’re in the middle of the crafting benches and need to use the trade post? Gotta run a mile that way. Forgot you had materials in the guild bank? Run a mile the other way. Please, as if that was convenient. The Grove was far more convenient than LA and even ebonhawke or DR. STILL is more convenient. The airship? Yes, you’re paying for convenience because everything is practically on top of each other.

Seriously? You know that you can use ANY crafting station as a bank, right? Weaponsmithing station was right outside of the trading post. You had to run “miles” to get to anything? Not hardly. It was slightly more spread out than the Grove, I’ll give you that, but not by a lot.

Plus, the convenience that was taken out was having the mystic forge and crafting stations together.

I love when people complain about businesses fishing for money.
How do you run a business? By making money.
How does a business fail? By not making money.
So, it makes sense, that a business would be looking to increase the money they make at any given opportunity.
GW2 is not pay to win, yet everyone complains about the gem shop like it IS pay to win.
Good laughs.

…what? This thread has nothing to do with the gemstore. Literally nothing.
