Aleglast, you do realize that we got that patch two months ago, right?

The “really big feature patch” was the april 15 feature patch.

Lol i can gurantee you we are going to get something huge on july first, and then i get to say i told you so.

what would you care to wager?
If you honest to god believe they are going to drop something bigger than what the feature patch on april 15 did, you are delusional.

Its going to be a simple LS addition… similar to what we have been seeing since the release of the bi-weekly LS cycle lol… you make it sound like anet is about to add xpac like content as in new skills/weapons/races/dungs…. just gonna be a nice little zone with some achievements and events to go zerg surfing, maybe a few cosmetics..

I will take enough pleasure in saying i told you so.

The interview you quoted was Colin talking about the April 15 feature patch. It literally has feature in how they referred to it. But if you want to hold your breath, then by all means…

Tumult, I don’t think you’re understanding. You know how there are traps on the ground as you run up? Well, the wind on the last three jumps is like that. If you get hit with the wind, then anyone who zaps skill 3 at the same time you did will also get knocked down halfway through the jump. This is not something that just happens when you’re in the lead. There’s a visual cue to watch for a safe spot to zap across. You just have to pay attention.

The skills aren’t glitched. It’s an intentional challenge in the rush that is very easy to navigate. Again, it happens to everyone- not just the leaders- and it’s working as intended, near as I can tell.

A Question About New Topics

Guhracie.3419

Wanze is pretty accurate on this one. We don’t infract on necros, unless you are intentionally necro’ing numerous threads to troll or cause unrest. When a thread is a necro, it warns you ahead of time about responding to it, so you do take a chance that the thread will shut down anyway. Especially if you just write /bump.

The Feedback threads we designate on patch days are incredibly important so we can get as much information (good, bad, broken, bugs, whatnot) as possible without the Dev Team spending time looking all over for the feedback. Specific staff will be looking for the feedback pertaining to their job. As example, we try to forward all bug reports to the bug forums so QA can track it and submit. They’ll be the first to notice the patterns and get the ball rolling.

Does that help?

Thank you Danicia and Wanze. This does help clarify. I’m going to report the thread to be locked so it doesn’t devolve further.

This is a question to clarify moderation so that I don’t misstep. Thank you for understanding.

How do I know when I should post to an old thread about a topic or when I should start a new thread about that same topic? Does getting a thread locked count against me?

Because we’ve recently been redirected to posting in massive megathreads about some topics, and others have been locked and we’re directed to start a new thread. Is there some logic to this that I’m missing? Or is the lock considered “no harm; no foul” and we don’t actually need to know, so long as we follow what the moderator says in the lock?

I wish they’d swap trident/staff skins. The tormented trident is one of the best skins in the game, in my opinion.

Earn X guild influence
Earn X guild commendations

and for those of us that are in guilds that cannot DO puzzles, like casual guilds or smaller ones ?

Do not force people into Guilds that may not want to be part of super guilds…

and I still think that locking Adept Traits behind lvl 50 content is dumb !!

So is charging such a huge amount to unlock them, totally alienating newer players !

I love what you have come up with for the rest though :-)

Dude, they are meant to be options from a massive pool of quests. If you’re not in a guild that does that, do a different quest. I mean, I don’t want to map complete Lornar’s Pass on every character I have, so I’d skip that one more often than not. I’m not good at certain jumping puzzles. This is meant to have massive appeal to all different types of players. Instead of the current system where you have to do each quest, this would give you options from all areas.

Game Updates: Traits

Dear ANET,

I have some ideas. These are free for your use. Enjoy.

Allocation of Points

2 trait points at level 20, and 1 trait point every 5 levels thereafter. (Alternately, you could put the 2 at 80, but I think it’s more exciting at 20, personally. Or start with 1 each from level 15 on; go wild. It’s your game; have some fun with it.)
Adept line unlocks at 20, Master at 40, and Grandmaster at 70.
Undo the nerf to all mobs from the April 15th patch.
This gives us nice, clean, round numbers to work with.
I honestly have no idea why this wasn’t the first solution you came up with for traits, rather than the awkward “1:6, and then 2 for a while” method we’ve currently got.

Buying Traits
The total cost should not exceed 20g and 130 skill points.
Personally, I don’t think the adept tier should require skill points.

Earning Traits

This ought to be the fun part. Here’s what I think should happen:

I think trait quests should award trait completion points.

There should be a whole mess of level-appropriate things that cover ALL aspects of the game. I don’t do pvp or wvw, and I rarely do fractals/dungeons these days, so feel free to chime in with ideas, folks.

Anyway, those trait completion points should be spent within a specific tier- maybe even a specific line, but not assigned to specific traits. So I’d need to earn 6 in each line (assuming they’re tied to specific lines, and not just available for all adept traits, willy nilly.) to earn all the adept level traits, and so on.

PvE Adept Tier Quests
100% Map Complete W (W=starter city; Lion’s Arch) (6)
100% Map Complete X (X=1-15 zone) (5)
100% Map Complete Y (Y=15-25 zone) (4)
100% Map Complete Z (Z=zones ranging between 25 and 40) (3)
Earn X guild influence
Earn X guild commendations
Any of the early jumping puzzles (Shaman’s Rookery, Dreamdark Enclave and the one before it, Goemm’s Lab, Sharkmaw, Troll’s End, Urmag’s Secret, Shattered Wall, etc)
Complete N dailies. (like monthly completionist)
Personal story steps level 35 and under (major steps, ideally)
Complete N hearts.
Revive N people.
Complete N skill challenges.
View N vistas.
Complete Ascalonian Catacombs in story mode.

Just off the top of my head. The map complete suggestions account for 18 trait points, just in the adept lines.

With an abundance of things to choose from, in all areas of the game, it will feel less tedious. Keep the group events, by all means. Maybe toss in a world boss or two. Stuff like this is how it should have begun.

Maybe require a zone complete (and equivalent things in PvP and WvW, obviously) in order to unlock the grandmaster tier at all- a choice between Timberline, Iron Marches, Sparkfly, Mount Maelstrom or Fireheart Rise, and then you can access the line itself?

For the Master tier, we’d raise the level accordingly, and maybe get into things like “Obtain and equip a full set of rare equipment” or “Obtain a full set of cultural armor” or “Earn this specific dungeon achievement”. Include stuff from the activities. Costume Bash. Make it FUN for people to do. Please.

New trait system...it's why I quit WoW

Don’t use any gold you already have.

ONE adept-tier trait

Why uh…why not use gold? It’s not like new players don’t have access to income as well (granted not as much) and Adept tier traits cost 10s and 2 skill points – not exactly something that is out of this world expensive even for a new player.

Then, once they buy traits they feel they might need (if they can’t unlock it by doing any sort of completion), they can use those traits as an investment to acquire their other traits.

The key word in my sentence is already. Use only the coin you make with that character.

sadly you can’t accurately do that anymore, all the gold you earn, regardless of character, is merged.

You can if you can do basic math, or if you have a private guild bank to store your gold in.

still doesn’t work, that would mean that every single copper, even the ones from small enemies, need to be kept in check.
it’s an almost impossible task to do and it slows down your progress by 300% (for a nice round number), sure you can calculate after you played that character but you just know that’s not gonna last long.

You can estimate without needing to tally every single copper. But even then it’s unbalanced, because new accounts have 0 magic find and no bonus to gold find anyway. (I got a second account just a bit after the feature patch, when there was a spate of sales.)

I can also confirm that none of the starter area world bosses (like Fire Elemental) unlock any of the adept traits. Instead, we have things like:

Complete the story step “A Light in the Darkness.” (Level 55 personal story for the first trait (I) in the first line.)
Earn 100% map completion in Blazeridge Steppes. (Level 40-50 for the fifth trait (V) in the first line.)
Complete Twilight Arbor on story mode. (Level 50 for the second trait (II) in the second line.)
Earn 100% map completion in Lornar’s Pass. (Level 25-40 zone for the fourth trait (IV) in the second line.)
Complete the story step “The Battle For Clorr Island.” (Level 50 personal story for the second trait (II) in the third line.)
Defeat Victurus the Shattered and his army. (Level 58 group event in Iron Marches for the fourth trait (IV) in the third line.)

Do any of those sound fun to do at level 36 with no traits? I could go on- there are more that are ridiculous, just like these are. Look for yourself.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Trait_guide

Caudeceus’ Manor is a level 40 story dungeon.
“Retribution” is a level 59 personal story step.
Dredgehaunt Cliffs is a level 40-50 zone.

One trait is 10s now. That’s what we used to pay to unlock all of the adept tiers. We went from 25 traits for 10s to 1 trait for 10s + 2 skillpoints.

[Suggestion] Engineers need more weapons

I’d like my engineer to be able to swap to one kit via weapon swap. Even eles don’t have to use up a utility slot to be able to “weapon swap.”

I’d also love to see more weapon diversity for engineer. There are only two main hand weapons to choose from. It’s just not a hugely diverse class, when you think about it. Two engineers with the same trait setup are almost guaranteed to have the same slot skills.

I have 8 eighties, its stupid easy and fun to do it. just go uplevel in wvw if you’re lazy like me.

Sounds like it’s easy for you to say because all of your chars are maxed…leveling up another alt is even more stupidly boring now so of course you don’t have to deal with it like the rest of us. Really though…is Ghostcrawler working at Anet now or something? I mean who seriously thought messing with the traits like this would be a good idea???

Grated I have all grandmaster traits on my Alts thanks to Mega server within the week it changed. but, It was something they did in gw1 through special trait missions or elite skills captures, so Anet did have a history of doing it in that way.

However you are right it was pretty sneaky of Anet to change their mind after a year and a half on how to get skills, but YOU WERE WARNED way ahead of the changes months ago, and its been over 2 months now so you’re a bit late in to complain, so you really don’t have anyone else to blame but yourself.

However the silver lining here is you can always spend those excess skill points for traits if you don’t feel like doing the quest. it resolves the previous complaint about how there was no use for skill points if you’re not a crafting.

Make a new character. Don’t use any skill scrolls. Don’t use any gold you already have. Try to get all your traits. THAT is what new accounts have to do.

Getting the grandmaster traits at 80 when you’ve already got the rest unlocked is a cakewalk. But try being level 36 and faced with “100% map complete Lornar’s Pass” for ONE adept-tier trait, and see how you feel about the traits then.

There are 65 such tasks, if you want access to all of your traits. Or you can try to earn 340 skillpoints and get ready to throw away more than 500% of what it used to cost to unlock traits on top of the skillpoints.

At the end of the day, I would honestly prefer a new weapon (or 2 new weapons to make 5 new weapon skills total) for every profession, since basically every archetype imaginable is already taken by the 8 professions that exist.

I agree with most of this- I’d love the “all weapons for all classes” that was discussed last year- but I do have to say that I’d like a third heavy-armor class.

I… Like the new system, but all my alts were grandfathered in so no worries of trait gate.

I am not sure if you guys with the grandfathered alts tried playing the game, but I seriously thought the game is very enjoyable exploring and leveling without even caring one bit about building my character traits. I spent more time doing the quest and hearts then staring at hexagonal shapes. Now, I also cannot speak for you guys. Maybe I just don’t care enough to really worry about these updates.

The game is easier now, all the mobs die fast. I can’t understand the weaker character aspect… But I also don’t PvP or go heavy into WvW when it comes to my alts. Can’t comment on that.

I have 3 lv 80, 1 lv 40, 1 lv 28, 1 lv 18, and a lv 5.

Before the patch I just rush for the lvl 80 through wvw trains anyway so it’s not like I sat there and got excited over each trait point…

My 2c, probably worthless in a thread like this. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I am not saying anyone is wrong, just my views on the new update. I come in peace.

It’s fine, in my opinion, for the alts who’ve been grandfathered in. That’s not my major issue with the system. (I know there are plenty who have said that the change to how many and when we get trait points is negatively impacting their game experience, though) I like the new interface and the ability to change my traits on the fly, and I, personally, don’t have a problem leveling without traits.

But they really need to rework how traits are obtained. I know there are those claiming that this is providing a gold sink, but come on. From 2g70s to 40g and 340 skill points or a checklist of 65 seemingly arbitrary tasks. How is that reasonable? That’s roughly a 550% increase… just for the coin currency.

Break up the makeover kit and put it in the wardrobe function. Use transmute charges, or use makeover charges, and let me change the color of my hair/accessory/norn tattoos/whatever else individually. A more flexible system means it’ll get used more often. I know the wardrobe has made it so that I’m way more likely to change my look- I’ve probably used twice as many transmutes since the patch as I had before. The way it is now, it feels punitive to fiddle with some minor appearance thing because it will use up a whole kit, but give us the ability to control what we’re tweaking, and I bet you’ll see way more cosmetic variety. Also, I’d love to be able to preview the premium faces/colors without having a kit on hand.

Will I have to pay for micro-updates ?

in Living World

Posted by: Guhracie.3419

As long as they keep the updates flowing and don’t sacrifice forward movement for permanence.

OPEN world CONTENT is going to take a HUGE hit. Expect LESS things like the MARIONETTE encounter, and more like the personal storyline-like instanced content that NO ONE even REMEMBERS.

Not to mention how, IRONICALLY, they’re killing the concept of a LIVING world. If the changes to the OPEN world won’t disappear, what’s the POINT in having a STORYLINE? Imagine how it would be if players defeated SCARLET but her ARMIES never stopped INVADING a given map? Or if she NEVER stopped appearing in the MARIONETTE content even after we had DEFEATED her?

ArenaNet DOESN’T know how to AVOID extremes. Having the ENTIRE season 1 based around TEMPORARY content was Bad. Having the ENTIRE season 2 based around PERMANENT content is BAD, too.

Guys, guys, this dude is using caps in some words!! He must know about this!! We must agree with him!!!

PD: I still don’t kwow what’s that Marionette thing that people talks about? Do you eat it?

Mationette was a big kitten open world fight that required 5 teams to coordinate, and to understand the individual boss fight mechanics. It was fun kitten! I would have absolutely loved to see that stay as a world boss, but sadly, it didn’t.

Youtube a few videos of it.

Marionette continued for 2 weeks after EOTM was released. The day EOTM was released was the last day marionette was done successfully on a regular basis (it had a 2 hour spawn rate). Before it was released it was done regularly on Aurora Glade from 13:00 to late in the evening.
What I am getting at is that if it was permanent it probably would be done like teq and the wurm before megaserver, after megaserver it would be fine.

On my server, marionette was successful through the very last day. I miss that fight.

It was successful, it just went from being successful for about 12 hours per day to being successful once per day. With the schedule introduced now it would make no difference but back then it made a very big difference.

Yeah, when I said it was successful through the last day, I meant consistently. Even on overflows. Maybe not every single time, but certainly more than once or twice a day. Well over half the time, I’d say.

Just dicovered…. That the outfits are nothing u can take on and off… once u take it off, it’s used up and gone! Shouldnt outfits be able to take on and off? This particular thing I dont like!

That’s not how outfits work. I reuse all of my outfits on all of my characters. I have 3 running around in the bloody prince’s outfit, 3 in the new ancestral garb and 1 in mad king thorn’s outfit. Oh, and one is in the fancy winter clothes.

Yeah, no argument that the town clothes was a poor solution for everyone involved.

Call me negative Nancy, but I see this is more bad than it is good. This means they will continue with temporary content in the future. While temporary content is fine when the base game is in a good state, GW2 isn’t. There isn’t a single area of the game that isn’t in need of drastic attention. What’s worse is I’m sure this feature has taken development time away from those areas that need it. I have no idea how they will attempt to balance the old LS content when a good portion required a zone full of people, meaning either those that buy it will be very upset or they will spend time retuning it and a lot of people feel like ArenaNet is ignoring the rest of the game in an attempt at more money.

I’d much rather they actually attempt to balance classes, fix the condition system, actually develop on WvW, make new permanent dungeons, put in a new zone, actually read the CDI’s, etc.

If you can honestly look at what they’ve implemented this year and still say that they’re not reading the CDI’s, then you’re the one not reading the CDI threads.

200 gems is 2.50 dollars. Are you gonna tell me that soldiers can’t spare that for their entertainment?

You can’t buy JUST 200 gems and the $10.00US minimum amount needed to spend WOULD be a hinderance to many.

This might be a valid argument, if you couldn’t trade gold for gems. It’d still be a weaksauce argument, but potentially valid.

And, again, if it’s a hindrance to anyone, it’s a good thing it’s not necessary to have all the LS in order to enjoy new content. You are making up reasons to be mad now. A deployed soldier is going to get mad that instead of totally missing out on the content, he/she can now have the option to play it?

Look, I’m not thrilled about agreeing with Smooth Penguin about anything. But I’ve checked the math several times now, and I keep coming back to the same sum. The uproar over this is totally baseless.

Come on, guys. Really? You’d really prefer the current system? How is that even reasonable? “I don’t think anyone should have access to past living story, because the optional cost is just too offensive.” That’s the argument you’re making.

Put bluntly, this is unacceptable.

Making the content available for free obviously costs you nothing, ArenaNet. I mean, I know it’s not actually nothing, there’s development time there, but in this case it’s apparently being viewed as standard operating costs of the game, since you’re making it available for free in the first place. It costs you nothing if a player logs in when the content is “new”, and it will cost you that same nothing if a player logs in when the content is “old”.

How then can you possibly justify installing a paygate on this free content after a certain time limit?

Charging after the fact for anyone who was unwilling or, worse, unable to be there (if someone gets hit with Hurricane Sandy I doubt they’ll be playing GW2 for some time) when the content was new feels, frankly, extortionist.

Yeah, because developing the system to allow it to be replayable cost them nothing, too. Obviously.

If you’re hit with a hurricane and your biggest fear is that you have to pay 200 gems if you want to replay a 2-week bit of story from Guild Wars, count yourself lucky.

This whole new option seems bad to me. It has all the potential of making the living story as boring as the personal story. It takes a really good addition to the game the living story that was a community event and makes it a boring solo farm run. Who in their right mind ever said they wanted to do the living story over and over and over and over again. The only part of the LS that was at all remarkable and repeatable was the Marionette. It would have make a nice world event but no we got the stupid wurm one instead. This bodes very badly. It sounds like they just want to remove community events and replace it with solo instance dungeons which is almost as bad an idea kitten man instance dungeons.

This is a dynamic game lets not forget that. Get back to basics and give up what we want not what is cheap.

Loads of people have said that temporary, unrepeatable content is bad for the game. Massive amounts of people in the first CDI thread begged for the ability to replay/review the personal story. This is an option. If you don’t want to pay for it, then don’t. Do the rest of the free content as it happens and be happy with that. You actually DO get access to years of free content, just for playing the game. They’re not hiding new content behind a paywall.

There will literally be no difference between how it worked in S1 to S2, except for the fact that, in S2, if you miss part of the LS, you are able to play it. In S1, you just couldn’t play it at all. Is that preferable? Seriously?

lol, @ reading =/= playing content.

Anyhow….so how does this work for new gamers starting up well after the LS2? will they just have a stack of gold they’ll have to gain to see the older content, or have to cough up dough?
What incentive will there be for those new players to even purchase it?

As opposed to the current method of not being able to see old content, you mean?

Looking over the LS season 2 blurb I spotted this “Past episodes will be available for purchase for 200 gems”

Does this mean if we want to reply any LS content we need to pay for it in gems? Is it an unlock a chapter forever fee for every account or is it character bound? If we pay for a chapter can we team with people who haven’t?

Personally, not sure how I feel about this move. To me it seems to step over the ‘morality line’ and move GW2 to a payment model I don’t really like..

Hmm

If you log in during the release window of an episode (e.g. two weeks) you unlock the episode for your account. You can replay it as many times as you want for free. If you miss the release window and you want to play an episode that you didn’t unlock, you can purchase it.

It’s a lot like watching television in that you can watch (and record) an episode for free when it airs. If you miss it, you can buy the episode off iTunes later. Does that make sense?

No it doesn’t make sense. You are talking about having to go to a completely different company in order to access a TV episode you missed when it aired. In GW2’s case, we wouldn’t be going anywhere else to purchase the living story content we missed.

It’s pretty common for cable and satellite boxes to have DVR capabilities so you can set it to record TV shows and watch them at your convenience if you’re not going to be able to watch it when it airs, or if you want to rewatch a favorite episode. You may pay an extra little bit on your monthly bill to be able to do that, but you aren’t charged (as far as I know) each time you use the feature.

You don’t have to pay 200 gems each time you want to revisit the story, if I’m understanding it correctly. You just pay it once and that episode is unlocked for your account. Or, alternately, you login and it’s unlocked.

I’m confused as to why people want the ETOM train gone, it hurts nothing.. if you want to wvwvw go play a real map. I find it funny that there is always a group within this game that wants to force people to play it their way. You’re all the same, bunch of self entitled whiners who think your way is right. GW2 community is terrible, even WoW didn’t have this level of angst and people trying to force everyone to march in a line.

But alas, trains are bad, people should have to be forced to do harder content for lesser rewards and it’s all for the greater good. Why don’t you people take that in and think about a certain type of people you sound like.

Guess so, had an argument with someone who was braggin about shutting down the QD train and how they would kill champs to bait people into getting mad and then report them. I was appalled by this behavior.. seriously killing a champ is fine but bragging about it so you can goad people into getting mad? Talking smack to them to get them to swear so you can hit the report button? This is what our community is now, bunch of people trolling each other and thinking that what they do is good.

I’ve played MMOs for a long time and never seen this kind of behavior, this game has the worst community of any game out there and it’s not just one group it’s all of them.

I do not believe you have ever played a single other MMO than this one if you think this community (particularly everyone in it, as your last statement indicates) is bad. I especially don’t believe you ever played a single expansion of WoW. That is a flat-out laughable claim.

The community in GW2 is fantastic. I actually have played a lot of MMOs. GW2 has, by far, the nicest bunch of people I’ve ever encountered on such a large scale.

I still don’t get why a new player jumping in in the middle of season 2 is being punished. It much like the TV analogy given earlier. If you started watching, say Game of Thrones because it happened to be on when you were switching through channels, heard about it from friends, in the middle of say season 3. We’ll you’ve missed Seasons 1 & 2. You shouldn’t be given the boxed DVDs of past seasons for free, just because you didn’t watch them. No if you enjoyed the last half of season 3, you’d be inclined to spend the $75 for the DVDs of Season 1 and after watching that, buy the DVDS for season 2. But wait! While you were getting caught up on Seasons 1 and 2, assuming you didn’t marathon them, season 4 has started. But you didn’t get to see the first half of season 3. And it’s not available on DVD yet! OH NO! But wait!! You can buy each episode of season 3 for $2.50!? AND the episodes of season 4 for the same price!? Praise the six!!! I don’t need to drop a bunch of money at once to have access to EVERY EPISODE!!!. Whats that? I get a free DVD copy of the newest episodes for just turning on my TV!? GOLLY GEE!!! THAT SURE IS SWELL!!

New players coming in will have no idea of whats going on yes. BUT they are not obligated to to buy anything. If they jump in with the story, find they like it, they have the option of buying each episode for a small price, they can start with an episode or 2, and if they like it, they can buy more with RL cash money, or by converting gold. It won’t turn away new players. In fact if they are coming from other games with expansion models, its just the next logical step after buying the game initially. IT’s something they are already familiar with and half expect from the start.

All they need to do is log in while season 4 is going on and it’ll be in their story journal. I mean, I’m assuming they’re logging in to “watch” previous seasons, right? It’s not like they’re going to be perpetually behind.

Edit: Oh, that’s what you were saying. When you said you don’t get why a player is being punished, you meant how. Sorry I misunderstood.

Given how much everyone complained about the temporary nature of the Living Story, I’m surprised this additional option is garnering so much rage. If you don’t want to buy it, then don’t? I agree with Galen; I don’t see how another option is such a terrible thing.

Blude: The game isn’t p2w OR p2p, and it’s not f2p either. It’s buy to play.

It’s the inevitable conclusion to all that is good. People will find ways to exploit and use minimum effort to get what they want.

AFKers and uplevel leechers are two of the most prevalent groups that will usually make any Gold Medal map implode into obscurity. I just had it happen today with what was initially a TTS map.

There really isn’t any solution for this aside from making these events a large group instance, which I don’t see this ever happen considering pretty much nothing in this game is like that (I guess you can say WvW and EotM is kind of like that, but still you can’t really control your guild members getting in at all).

Uplevel leechers? Really?

Then you are entitled leecher. Much worse from any angle.

Another note for the developers.

Open world content is meant to be played by everyone. That’s a major part of the reason this design is so flawed as-is, even now. It’s offensive to label people who go in below 80 as “leechers” when clearly the content allows them to be there. Don’t blame them; blame Anet.

I joined a taxi to a gold run that was advertising “NO UPLEVELS” and, hilariously, that person was level 73. I didn’t even make the attempt to join.

I’d like to note that with one exception, I’ve brought all level 80s to the Pavilion. I ran it briefly on a level 55 early on, and didn’t find it to be worth my time.

This is targeted at Tachii, and not MikaHR, if it’s not clear.

Game Updates: Traits

Guhracie.3419

As an active participant in the “Horizontal Progression: CDI” thread, I can confirm that many of the top requested things were addressed in the April 15th patch, and one of those things was a more interactive method of gaining traits. Many people suggested a system similar to GW’s skill-hunting. So this is clearly in response to that, and kudos to Anet for listening, and starting to make adjustments based on the feedback from players in the new system.

However.

This new system can’t be good for your new player retention rates. Seriously, the old system used to cost… what, 2g70s to unlock all the traits? And 40g + 340 skillpoints is seen as a reasonable increase?
