I like this idea, yeah would make Anet really able to see what the majority of the playerbase wants, instead of the few whiners that is the most loudmouthed on the forums
Not to mention that other characters with weapon swaps don’t have to use inventory space at all for their swap sets.
LOL my elemetalist is among the characters i have that uses the LEAST invtory space for weapon, since they have so few differnet ones (the only one with about equally little space uses is engineer), other classes may have a weapon swap yes, but they also have a lot more weapons, that all can provide some utilty you may need at some point, so you be carrying a lot more weapons on you too…
because it is easier and faster to type Toon, then Avatar or Character. It is a decendent from WoW players yes as far as I know.

you can type class just as fast though and class makes a lot more sense too.
ehh how does class make more sense (and in fact toon is 4 letters, class is 5, so toon is faster), beside that class refer to the “type” of character (ie guardian, ranger, mesmer etc) where toon is your specific character
There is no if. It’s on the official sight that the armor will be “slightly more powerful than exotics”. What else do you need to hear?

If we can still get the stats many ways , not only from the dungeon , then Anet kept their promise that we would always be able to get gear many ways.
Adding a new tier over exos on stats was never something they promised not to do. or can anyone link me a place where they said exos would be the top stats tier forever?

well they also promised that at lvl 80 you would not be going around rolfpwning stuff in the lowest lvl areas even… yet you very close to that already in exotics… my lvl 80 purely condition built mesmer (mostly exotics though still need some jewelry and my 2nddary weapon sets), already 2-3 shots mobs in the lowest lvl areas with the puny amount of direct dmg it does… so now i get to kill that stuff even faster?…
Problem with solution B is that ppl will just go in kill first boss, exit, reset and go in kill first boss and exit again (used to be that way in beta, and that is what happened).
ehmm… not really an option since there is only like a 5-6 permanent upgrades anyway, the majority of it is temporary buffs
and like the starter areas aren’t easy boring and trivial enough for a lvl 80…
kinda makes sense for them to stick out yeah, i mean would you rather cut off your ears, or cut a hole in your hood?…
I don’t do sPvP i haven’t even been in the Mist’s to start PvP so i cant have anything on my sPvP gear.
yes you are given a spvp set with the runes called after your class as soon as you make your character, no matter if you ever enter the mist or not
not really, make your phone remind you once a month or something if you don’t want to forget it. Adding even this kind of optional subscription fee, then next ppl actually paying it will ask to get some non-gamebreaking benefit, next they want a bit more and before you know it, your “harmless” suggestion have turned the game into pay2win
FYI i have it on my main mesmer, but didn’t really have the time to complete it on all my other characters, while doing the other Halloween stuff too, and I’m sure there is players out there that have even more characters

@Coltz, there should be PLENTY of keys left on keyboard to put it, since these are for consumables anyway, they don’t even have to be keys you can access quickly in combat, since you would be using them once every 15-45 mins only (depending on what consumable/food you have in it)
1. why are you “Button-mashing” "2 short bow skill that would make the shot explode right as it leaves the bow, making it likely miss your target by a LONG shot.
2. where you got the info that #2 downed should start on a cd? i never seen anything about that, nor have it ever seemed that way on any of my toons (and I played since BWE1)
Until they fix the draw in problems, who cares at all? What’s not fun is seeing no one in front of you then you start getting hit by people, but there are actually about 50 there. You just didn’t see them….yet. Lame. DOAC did it better. Never encountered this issue in WOW even when there were 100 players…maybe the frame rate dropped, but you saw them. My frame rate drops and It takes a minute for the to appear. Wvw just isn’t ready yet.
well wow on highest setting is still worse graphic than gw2 on absolute lowest, so kinda unfair to compare like that

@Clouded: No you can’t is a purely visual bug, the actual effects works only for the part of the game (pve/wvw or spvp) that you have the rune in
nah, difference in spelling (which some people forget admittedly).
not to mention sometimes while typing you may have to get down quickly as a mob might unexpected attack you or something similar.
Or better yet, try to apply that “logic” when using a voice chat program like ts3, or vent etc
would likely be a good idea to tell what profession it happened on too, since wep skills are professions specific, would make it easier for ANet to troubleshoot it i think
Works fine for me, so far got 3 pieces on my gear going from1721 to 1518 when i unequip those 3 pieces (got 32, 24 and 72 precision on those pieces themselves on top, meaning i should loose a total of 203 precision for runes+armor) and 1721-203 = 1518
then you have a whole set of the same rune on your spvp gear (if you haven’t changed the runes on your spvp gear is default to your class rune)
would love that system a LOT, a realtive simple change that would add a HUGE deal of versatility to builds
also calling them chars could in this game cause some confusion if you are not actually a charr :P
weapon swap? well you already got 20 weapon skills you can use on the fly, where other classes (not counting engi ofc) have only 10, surely that is more than enough.
As for defence, well you don’t have less defense as such than any other cloth class, as you using same armor as them, but ofc if you want to go for high damage you have to sacrifices stats like toughness and vitality, so yes if you play an elemetalist is pure fire attunement with only offensive stats you WILL take a lot of dmg. So learn your class maybe? does earth atunment say you anything? quite a few nice defensive skills there. The mesmers and Necroes you see survive really well are ppl taht know there class really well and might not be full glass canon builds
I’ve experienced the 15-20k damage in a few seconds even on my tankiest of warriors. This isn’t me being a glass cannon, this is about the failed mechanic that is Quickness.
Making all characters have the same base health is not anything like WoW. And even if it had something to do with WoW, does that mean cast it away? Not at all. Having equal base health is important because it becomes one less thing to balance.
Why should other classes be able to inherently take more damage? That creates roles that some classes can only fulfill and that completely opposes Anet’s purpose; they want any class to fulfill any role and that currently is not viable at all. With armor off, everyone should die just as fast. The reason Warriors and Guardians should take more damage should be because of their armor, not necessarily their high health.

For those saying it would hurt DD’s, well if it would hurt them too much, the simply solution would be to lower the toughness of the bosses etc if needed
Good idea. But two professions that will severely dominate with this. You guessed it. Thiefs and Mesmers.
Just imagine a bunch of thiefs grouped up….. oh the nightmare. You’ll see people just dropping out of nowhere, getting killed by the air. Then one second too late, when you just realized it was all a bunch of thiefs, your pretty much dead anyway.
Same goes with mesmers. One mesmer = 4+ clones. Now imagine a group of 20 mesmers. 20 × 4 = 80 clones. What the fudge.
These 2 professions agains’t each other might be a fun entertainment. But again’st the rest? It would be a wipe out.
In the end it’d be just a battle between the 2 best professions. Thief’s and Mesmer’s fit the bill in that area of PvP.
ehmm you can max have 3 illusions out at a time, so that be 60 clones, but a good deal of them would likely be phantasm’s too, so that even less clones, not to mentiong any of the classes (say ele?) would good aoe would wipe the floor clean of clones and phantasms in no time. That not to say mesmers wouldnt be good, they certuanly would be, xD with just a little cordination you could chain permastealth easy or perma quickness quite easily too…
Maybe to make it interesting, no stealthing, blinks or any kind of alternate self summons (clones) is allowed. That way everyone has a fair chance of seeing the opposing force and can move forward from there.
… LOL that would not be fair, you be taking away a good amount of thieves skill, and even the memsers MAIN mechanic (shattering, which requires clones or phantasms to be used…)
Not to emtnuin clones can take like 3-4 hits MAX, before they are dead, and only use the auto attack of the weapon the mesmer have equipped at the time the clone was summoned, and deal non-existant dmg themselves
The real problem here is how the title currently works, not how you obtain it. The system is too basic and needs to be refined to be more like guilds.
People should be able to press a button to open a list of commanders who are currently online. In this list, you’ll be able to see what the commanders are doing (rather it’s PvE or WvW). In addition, you’ll be able to join squads in this list, or at least wait till the commander approves on you joining. For more depth, the squads could have their own ranking system.
Now as for the argument against commanders who “don’t have the leadership skills”. That judgement is arbitrary and therefor is going to differ from person to person. So having some strict combat-related way of obtaining the title isn’t going to change a thing. There’s still going to be commanders that players won’t approve of, via because of their skills or not. The real solution to this issue is compromise. It’s up to everyone to work together, even if that means helping a commander learn what to do to “lead properly”.
still the difference is ATM you can earn a commander star without EVER even setting your foot in the wvw area, meaning you can have commanders that might not even know the basics of how wvw works. If it cost a lot of badges or honour, you would have to play in wvw area, so you would at the very least have an idea of how the mechanics in it works, and likely a bit more. but yeah 500 is too few, at least a few k’s should be needed. But no matter how you do it there will always be dicks and idiots among them, but you can try and limit the amount a bit
agree with drifter, and yes EVEN ui addons, can create obsene “you need this to run that” ideas… in fact then can sometimes be the biggest on the list of required addon’s
but on the other hand that is one of the msot abusable methods i ever heard of mungrul, you can be dead sure you would have ppl runing around filling up the legit players inventory that way constantly, yet shoud be quite easy for the bots to counter, some code that say every 10 min or so, check the inventory for non-value stuff and then destroy it, so that would be more harm than good

so if you take a mace Mace or other one handed weapon IRL, and place it in your belt it sticks through your clothes too? I don’t think so, so neither should it in the game in the first place
yeah 20k dmg would maybe be achievable by a glass canon build hitting a glass canon build only, and even then it would be hard pressed to do it even
EDIT, and while those stats of the guardian he mentioned might not be possible the traits alone would be the major factor to breaking balance. In fact in the first BWE it used to be possible to take any trait just of its line at 10 pt’s meaning 50%+ of traits wouldnt ever be used, and ppl were just doing builds like 10/20/20/10/10 or so ALWAYS and taking the best trait of all the lines, there was a reason they changed it to what we have now i think
as Nels Said, would be hugely overpowered, the lines need to stay. However i could see it work for just being able to choose at which stats you want in what line (but so you still need to associate the stats with the lines, but you have a bit more choice where (but still keeping minor and major, so that again for mesmer you can put power and precision at the same line since those would be “major stat”), like you said the mesmer domination giving power/condition duration. Now condition duration can work VERY well for a power build, since it affect non-dmging condition too like cripple etc, which is VERY helpful for a power build, however on my pure condition dmg power is very bad and i would love me some condition duration

that not really always giving you a very good look at how it looks on your character as your armor is a big part of your look as well, so have to fit well with it.
And it wont fix the asura’s raising their ears as the OP mentioned, and yesh im using full TA armor on my norn, and really have to take off my pants everytime i preview 1handed weps, or i can only see 1/10 of the wep really
Only thing they should do should be to allow you to pay the partial amount, so the cost would be split out among the players, and when enough money been pooled the upgrade starts. this way more ppl can contribute to upgrading without actually going broke, specailly ppl that are not yet lvl 80 rarely ahve the money for anything but maybe supply camp upgrades, but this way they could pay a 2-3 silver and still help to starting it earlier without having to pay the full price
Not to mention lvl 80’s in full exotics, killing 3-4 shotting ppl in starter areas, again and again. And no downscaling is currently NOT harsh enough to make it a fair fight, im am constantly 2-3 shotting the mobs with my condition dmg built mesmer in the low end of the starter areas, with my lvl 80 mesmer, with lvl 80 exotics armor and staff, and I even only have lvl 66-70 blue and green jewelry. Hell I could probably tank a whole pack if I wanted I geuss, without using many if any at all of my defensive abilities. So no unless downscaling get fixed so everyone EVEN a lvl 1 newly created character with only starter equipment(okay lvl 2 then since you get lvl 2 just for completing the tutorial), would have a fighting chance against a lvl 80 in full exotics.
So what would you replace the current quickness skills with?, specially mesmer would get hit hard by removing it, since it is one of our elites even.
and lol same base health? the differences in base health is made up for by the amount of mobility and defensive skills in the game, like thief having a LOT of mobility, but then have a small health pool, or guardians got tons of was to apply protection and blocks, where classes like warrior have little mobility and defensive skills, but then having a high base health pool to make up for it
only having a mesmer high lvl really that the only one o can really comment on properly, but really for mesmer you want 3 phantasm only? and then 3 random of all… hmm can just see it, on a all out power/precisions build, getting say a warlock, a disenchanter and a mage… yep you totally wasted an elite skill there, by adding next to 0 dmg (okay not litterally 0 dmg, but the increase would not be anything that would help at all to decide the outcome of the fight), when instead you could have jsut popped a timewarp on top of yourself and 3 duelsist maybe, for a like 50-100% DPS increase instead, (and the more allied players near you the more it would go up.
For mesmer really elites NEED to be able to support other ppl around you as well, or it will always fall short, and also elites should NEVER be based on chance
Meh, I would prefer them fix the clipping issues with the current armors first. Daggers + leather armor = fail.
pff, you want clipping issues, try TA light armor “pants” with any 1handed weapon… i have to remove my pants everytime i preview a 1handed weapon, just to be able to see more than 1% of the weapon
to be more specific one of the dungeons that have rabid armor (although its not called rabid, it is the same stats as it) is TA, a few others as well but cant quite rembmer whihc though
