it sucks, but its a necessary evil, i’ve not read the limitations but i’d hope its level-gated.
all chat (except whispers) should get enabled at lv 5 or 10 or something.

note i’m not counting guild chat/party chat etc, they should be enabled from the start.

F2P accounts have no access to /map ever. If you want to type in /map, then you need to buy the game.

ah, well that sucks then, blocking it until a certain level would deal with alot of the gold selling annoyance.

While true, it should be a VERY high lvl to hinder goldsellers at all, lvl 5 or 10 wont do anything, should be at least like 50 or higher of gold sellers would easily find ways to bot up to the needed lvles in very little time

Why they would do a beta, that is normaly design to point at bugs or glitch, to allow you to decide if you want to play it or not..
It’s a beta not a demo.

This argument is kind of strange, if you ask me, considering most of the time it’s the developer that pays beta testers, not the other way around.

Except 99% of MMO’s allows you to buy into it early to beta test them (but ofc same games ALSO have paid internal testers, but some things just need a large crowd than the internal testers to be sure to get the real results

GummiBear.2756

Here’s another way to look at the situation… I can get behind the “Dry Top style” maps from here on out as they do have waypoints, hero points, vista’s, etc, however why then don’t they have 100% completion based on that alone (with no hearts)? If we want to compare them to Orr, then lets look at the three maps in Orr…..all three are missing Hearts, but they still all have a 100% completion bar. Just give me that and I’ll be satisfied enough.

And where do you get this info that there wont be completion like that in the jungle? again what we see is a beta, and is supposed 25% of one of the jungle maps, so would be pretty pointless to implement such a thing yet, as you wouldn’t be able to get close to even 100% of one map let alone the whole jungle, and it would likely distract ppl from doing what they actually want us to test

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I won’t, but I expect there would be players who will certainly troll for the fun of it. So, the mentor system is going to be abuse definitely. Anyone saying otherwise is just in denial. There will be trolls no matter where you go or what system/features/mechanics there is in the game.

this, tbh, i think it is the wrong move to not alow rewards, yes rewards might draw a few more trolls, but i believe rewards would also draw even more ppl to actually help others

the problem with rules against such things, is that you can consistently enforce such a rule correctly, sure there are some cases of obvious trolling, but a lot of times it can be hard to truly tell if it was intentional trolling, or just pure inexperience

Different Races for Revenant during BWE

It is difficult to say, the blog post was very vague with regard to the Revenant:

“Players who have pre-purchased the expansion will see a new button appear on the character creation screen that allows them to create and play a fully geared, level-80 beta character of any race for the duration of the weekend.”

But as to whether or not that includes the new Revenant, I can’t know for certain. I do doubt that they will be ready though, as the last beta was not that long ago, and I don’t think the time frame was long enough for them to finish it for this beta.

But then again, I could be wrong.

But then again the build we had in the last stress test was obviously very old (for once it used the old trait system, despite ANet had been working with the new system for quite a bit there, so they had way more time than just the time since last stress test to finish them

I think he means the last time we were able to create beta revenant characters, which was much more recent than the last stress test. Revenants had the new trait system there, but were still restricted to humans.

Hmm, true totally forgot about that xD.

Still not much of an indication tbh, as we have no idea how far along they were with the animations and such for different races, it might have already been almost ready, but still needing just the last finishing touches, if not completely ready, and just needed to be implemented in the game, and as such chose to do the last one without out. ofc it is entirely possible it is still not at all ready, to show us hos rev look on anything but human yet, guess we just have to wait and see

Actually there will be certain spots with updraft where you will be able to gain altitude if your gliding skill is high enough

Since Zealot is (as you pointed out already) a non-discoverable insignia/inscription, try see if you can find some cheap armors and weapons and then salvage those and you have a chance to get the insignia/inscription from them, ofc this require there to be cheap zealot weapons for it to be viable, but take a look at it.

it is insignificant for the each single player (if they are any decent), but in the grand scheme it is a gold sink that takes quite a bit of gold away from the economy, thus keeping part of what keeps it in check.

I’m actually really intrigued by this Warhorn, since it seems those that get 2-handed weapons (guardian, Necro) get existing Profession mechanics edited, and those that get an off-hand (Mesmer) get an extra skill (f5 shatter). I wonder how that would apply to Elementalist? a Fifth attunement sounds a bit crazy lol.

Unlikely to be a 5th attunement, not only is there not really a 5th element to use for it, but would also mean they would have to design new skills for every single existing ele weapon. And beside that the f5 on chronomancer aint exactly a 5th shatter either, but a different kind of class skill

How about us Tankers and Healers? :(

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

GummiBear.2756

One thing a lot of people don’t seem to realize is that the zerker meta wont hold up in the challenging content in Heart of Thorns, colin brohanson has even said that you’ll need a variety of roles and gear sets in order to complete it, which would mean OPs want is probably going to be quite doable.

If you want to be tanky with heals i’d suggest you go with Clerics (I’ve been told Magi’s is good for guardian with a certain trait), however make sure you don’t go pure heals, that’ll never happen. Your healing will help out your team a little bit, but you should absolutely be using boons and that more.

Also, if you’re trying to tank in PvE you need to bring a good amount of CC. CC will both kitten off the mob to make it focus you (especially if you’re in melee of said mob), and it’ll inhibit it from getting to your team, and hurting you.

Also keep in mind that you may want to run the current PvE content with friends or guildies and stay away from pugs, otherwise they’ll just kitten and moan about you not stacking or doing enough damage. What i’ll normally do is make a group with 2 other friends and just say in the LFG notification that we’re not zerker and aren’t going to play like a normal zerker group so don’t expect it.

My zerker ranger has completed every PvE content currently available with little difficulty. No matter what Anet has in store, zerkers will find a way to cheese it.

You do realize the fact you’ve completed every CURRENT PvE content in zerker means absolutely nothing right? This content isn’t going to be on the same level as the challenging content from the sounds of it. This current content seems like it was a disastrous failure from how the devs talk about it compared to heart of thorns, so i wouldn’t say you’ll be cheesing your way through it until the next content comes out.

And you do realize that the content won’t mean that zerker gear isn’t viable there. So it may not change anything for those that are already skilled in the game.

The meta may start at a more defensive gear set but it will likely become more offensive as players learn the new mechanics and pick up new masteries. Whether it will end up at full zerker, is anyone’s guess.

Just like the meta for the current content did. The meta didn’t start off as full zerker, DPS oriented builds. They started out with gear that was more defensive. That allowed them to make mistakes. Because they hadn’t run the content 500 times. Hadn’t learned the mechanics.

This so much, pretty much everything you guys are saying about HoT content in this thread (and all over the forums too) was also said about our current content prior to launch of GW2

Racial skills and Mistfire Wolf

I completely agree, let us swap in racial skills. Racial skills completely suck, but so do some rev skills. At least now we could have a chance to use racial skills as we are stuck with select (unwanted depending on situation) skills as revenant.

If having racial skills is unacceptable. As an appeasement I will be willing to accept a Mistfire wolf mini pet. =)

OH GOD, i would absolutely LOVE an mistfire wolf mini pet, and when you think about it, wouldn’t it be the perfect minipet for revenant too?

Hammer 5

and unless your an Engineer or Warrior (or a Mace/Jalis Rev), 100% swiftness by yourself is a myth.

Mesmer: Focus 4 skill plus Signit of inspiration equipped. You’re welcome.

That would still create about 5 seconds downtime, you would at the very least need the focus cd reduction trait, and even then you would need pinpoint accuracy with the curtain as you can NOT have any swiftness on you when you walk over curtain if you want to get swiftness from it, so even with cd trait you need pinpoint accuracy, so forced into a specific utility skill, a specific weapon AND a specific traitline (where you have to choose a specific master trait in) it is not any better off than the revenant, that as pointed out can get 100% swiftness with a specific legend and specific wepaon

Lets get to the point. I really hate human female walking/running animation. It totally ruins the game fore me. ( i know its weird thing to complain about)
I would like that you would add new kind of animations to cash shops. because honestly I am willing to pay for it/them !

I also would like that there would be “crosshair” and click on mouse combat instead pressing number 1 skill. Instead if you would add 1 extra ability to number 4 slot.

It would not take that much time to add this to the game and it would make the game more enjoyable to play. So I really wish developers would consider this and add it to this awesome game !

Sorry but making good animations for a game is certainly one of those thing that take a LOT of time and effort

Upcoming Elite Specs

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: GummiBear.2756

GummiBear.2756

It is not, its technically on the same ridiculous level of DH, how a small kid would name something…a name, that would suit like some kind of marvel comic super hero, but not a class for a MMORPG, that clearly summons storms and other supernatural nature powers most likely with a warhorn later.

When I think on Tempest, this automatically comes to my mind…
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Storm_%28Marvel_Comics%29

but the class won#t be about only wind and lightning, it will still be a clas, that calls and summons all kinds if different elemental storms…
Tempest is also when looking to other languages just a total abomination of a name, that doesn’t have working synonyms in all languages, as in German there exist absolutely no word, that would suit to Tempest in regard of it being a noun, that works as a profession description, because tempest is nothing else for us than a weather effect in German (Sturm > English Storm).
We would have to call it practically “Sturmrufer”, to have something, that makes anyhow sense, but in English this would be then again practically “Storm Caller”, or Storm Summoner, which pretty much sums it down, that the best allround solution would be to call the class simply Summoner, as it’s a name, that ANet already once had as a concept class for GW1 …

http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/b/ba/%22Summoner%22_concept_art.jpg

Ehmm summoner? that is certainly more lame than tempest, and would make ppl think of minion summons etc (so more something that would suit a necro elite spec). While you have a good point in translations everything else is pretty far off, by your logic druid is then just as bad, that is a pretty normal name a 6 year old could make up as well… and reaper would be pretty close on there as well

Upcoming Elite Specs

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: GummiBear.2756

GummiBear.2756

And once again: Elite Specs is not the only thing coming with the expansion.

Not everyone will be taking Revenant as their main, there’s 8 other classes in the game, 4 elites revealed, time to reveal the rest already, why leave players of the other 4 just hanging for so long? The rest of the expansion stuff can be revealed anytime after since it’s information for everyone.

Guardian elite = Longbow Dragonhunter
Ranger elite = Staff Druid
Mesmer elite = Shield Chronomancer
Necromancer elite = Greatsword Reaper

Elementalist elite = Tempest?
Engineer elite = hammer?
Warrior elite = ?
Thief elite = ?
Revenant elite = ?

Ele will be tempest, they more or less accidental revealed that in a stream think it was the 4h stream that showcased all the changed to the existing classes prior to the new trait system we have now, but might be a different one not 100% sure). Still need a blog post on it ofc though, as do we need a ranger blog post, we only know it will be called druid and it will have a staff, we have no idea how that staff will work, nor what utilities druids gonna get or what kind of traits, so it is only 3 that been really revealed that way

GummiBear.2756

Agreed its not easy. That’s why it is and always will be Tengu. They have the city, they have the voice acting. It will be the least work for Anet from here on out.

Its just a matter of when people.

They have a Very minor part of the voice acting, their city in in a awkward spot to place a 1-15 area beside it (best bet would be to have them share celedon forest with Sylvari, but that would be really awkward to have 2 races share one map as first area), the amount of saved work in making tengu vs any other race is likely less than 1% easier, they still need to make a new racial part of the Personal story, complete with cut scenes, voice acting etc, need to design new racial skills, new animations for every single player skill in the game, remake every single armor in the game (and no, you can not just scale down charr armor, it simply dont work that way) etc etc, all for a small aesthetic race it is a LOT LOT LOT easier to make a new class, and a new class add a LOT more gameplay variety long term to the game
