This may not be a problem for everyone, but in certain situations like mine- it is.
I made the friendly but terrible mistake of sharing my username and have had to live with the fact that I have 70+ followers. I shot myself in the foot because I’m a pseudo-celebrity and now I have fans that follow me.
I thought at first it wouldn’t be that much.
My problem is my name has been shared and shared again and you wouldn’t believe the amount of whispers I get. I don’t run a guild or anything, I’m just someone who can’t devote all their time to responding to whispers. I explain my situation over and over again to the fans- that I’m far too busy to be able to talk with each of them. I’m as nice as I can be…and I’ve tried to own up to my mistake. But it does feel like I’m being punished.
I have maybe 3 hours a day to play if that…on a good day due to my profession. An hour or two responding to folks can take up all that time. Though I have been told I’m being too generous with my time- I can’t realistically get all these people to understand my situation…even if one or two folks get it.
Because they can see what map I’m on too- inevitably if they don’t get a response to their whisper, they’ll track me down in game.
Y’can’t be mean to these guys. There are some stalkers in every MMO, but what I have is just an abundance of nice people who if I don’t respond to I’m sure are a little crushed.
Blocking these folks is bad because they have their friends write me e-mails saying “I thought you were nice, but now I’m not so sure.”
Once again, this problem only affects probably a few people…but it’d be nice to -at least- have the ability to approve followers before they can track your online presence.
Or I guess I should just be a jerk. e_e
if by username you mean display name then everyone can see that, in quite a few ways rather easily (your actual username would be your email address actually, as that is what you uses to login), so i dont see how you sharing it is that big of a deal. So yeah i say be a jerk to them because imo they are being jerks to you if they whisper you, just to chat, and such if they never even talked or played with you before.
But, with regards to your topic: uh… why should the game limit any weapons to a single profession? I don’t see how this improves anything.
Agreed, i mean there is already different skills for same weapon on difference character, so in that regard it is already different weapons gameplaywise
While as the others said condition damage can’t crit it does NOT mean however taht crit chance is useless, far from, since most if not all classes have a trait that allow them to apply a certain condition with a certain chance upon crits (necros for instance have 66% chance to apply bleeding when they crit, and mesmer can make illusions always apply bleed when they crit, those are the 2 i know on top of my head but im pretty sure most if not all have something similar)
yeah a known visual bug only, as you said tooltip actually count any you have on your pvp armor as well as your breather, but as you saw only a visual bug, the stats are applied correctly
Well im sure they note them down and get to fixing them when they have nothing better to do, as you said an insignificant thing, so wont really be high on their priority list
(why can mist form allow a player to enter a keep but thiefs skill 2 can’t)).
O_o if that is true, that sound like a bug to me (i assume you means through closed doors and intact walls?), though never been able to play ele good enough even at low lvl so yeah know what it does but dont really played it ever in wvw as such
Mesmers have one of the best elite skills.
Time warp: emediatlly bubble that grants quickness.but with that being said i would love to see for an elite skill
Signet of illusions: Signate passive grants one extra illusan slot. active shatter all your illusan doing damage and confusion bases on amount of illusan you shatter. cool down 210seconds.
i cant beleave they didnt add this to the game. or rather the elite skill from gw1. i was a mesmer in GW1 and i ran this elite skill along with simple thievery.Simple thievery. interupt foe this skill becomes the skill used by foe. duratation 10 seconds cool down 150 seconds.
it be fun to steal a warriors 100 blades if your using a great sword.
Who in their right mind would use that active part, 15points in illusion line and a mind wrack would do just that while also allowing you to keep your 4th slot. and well tbh a 4th slot as good as permanent would be a bit OP really, with illusionary persona that means potentially 5 shatters (4 illusions+yourself) and with that you already are bound to have the illusionary retribution which would be no less than 10 confusion stack from a single cry of frustration. that is just WAY op. However having it as a temporary effect (say for 15-20 seconds maybe or something like that, with a hefty cd, think 200sec+) could be an interesting idea
For pve Signet of Illusionary Haste
passive: gives you (and your illusions) 25 % speed boost
active: you root in place, become invulnerable for 3 seconds and cripples up to five foes around you. (or something comparable, I just remembered the sylvari race elite)Something like this and I would love to replace my balthazar’s hounds immediately. ^^
Mesmers aren’t likely to ever recieve a perminant speed boost signet as your defense and ability to run is already on par with thieves, just keep spitting out clones as you go to slow people down. Or go bunker and just wear down 3 people at a time.
Ehh yeah we may have good incombat mobility, but the OUT-OF-COMBAT mobility of a mesmer STINKS, or rather is not even there at all
WAY too OP, i mean we already got a rune effect (6*lyssa) that does that exact same a single time, now doing it 10 times… nah, but in general yeah a LOT of classes really need and extra elite for certain playstyle
Also while you may not always get up, buying time like that is still helpfull for your team, as those extra seconds could be the difference between them having time to capture a point before you can arrive and help your team keep it etc
My level 80 characters have more problems destroying these things than they do soloing champions. Something is majorly wrong with that scenario.
You not adapting to the scenario properly by switching to a weapon with range 1000+ would be what’s wrong.
Funny i have no problems with them on my thief that dont even have a 1000+ range weapon :P, they are far easier to melee than range imo
Just also remember entre and exeunt (or however you spell that…), are only allowed a certain distance between them, that is in no way indicated ingame. One situation in particulare not covered where this is REALLY annyoing is when moving golems, a ver y effective tactics if used right have a 3-4 golems build at a supply camp or nearby tower then a couple mesmers chain up portals moving them quickly to enemy keep to take down the doors, but if you end up placing you two portals a little too far from eachother well they wont be usable at all, and the golems may have to slowly walk that distance themselves xD
Yeah as other pointed out yet you get slightly more stats but that may not necessarily mean you get higher dmg, since the skills on the weapons often scale different with more power. And then ofc some weapons provide some functions other dont (like more control, or more support etc etc
Its purpose is to basically lead the people in WvW, being a good one well would obviously require that you know more than just the basic tactics of WvW, as well as are able to communicate to other ppl well
The only thing 80 gets you is Fractals. So if that doesn’t sound awesome, this might not be the game for you.
Even then you can technically do fractals at lvl 2 too if you want (and can find a group), not that i would recommend that though as you likely get killed very fast, though around 30-40 if you know what you doing you should be fine in there
Not having a cast bar, makes it more about skill and knowing your opponent than a cast bar even will. Beside part of GW2 is that you should NOT be looking at the UI, but on the actual world and the characters in it, which a cast bar does not promote
You even have problems destroying them? you can move around them WAY faster than they can turn around, so just stay at their backs
The game isn’t all about dps. Utility, support and control can be equally if not more useful, when facing adverse conditions. Eles, Guardians and Mesmers wouldn’t be where they are if it was all about DPS. So no, a DPS meter isn’t needed, and it would have a potentially toxic effect on the playerbase. It’d only serve to overly simplify player’s understanding of combat in GW2, causing them to disregard many of its finer points.
Dps meter isn’t about your effictivness in combat, it’s just a reference for people to compare 1 build of theirs to another. a damage taken meter would be the same thing, it comes down to dungeon mechanics. These meters just help you get a value to compare with rather than a feel. If I saw a thief enter my party and they had X amount lower dps than me (lets just say x is much lower than my y ) I wouldn’t say, “gt**”. I would let the dungeon go on and also make sure said thief knows the dungeon path. If they can live and continue damaging the enemy who cares what armor/dps they have?
While that is a true, once you implement one, a LOT of players will begin to assume DPS = effectiveness
they are all fine, vigor help you dodge more that alone can increase your survivabilty by a LOT, no need for any extra health regen. Regens can heal quite a bit already no need to increase that. and Chill and Fear already is 2 of the best Crowd controls in the game, adding dmg to them would make the way OP
Yes this would be a very nice feature
I also like all of these ideas. As for the last login, GW1 had it so I don’t know why GW2 doesn’t. It could simply show the last time represented or the last time logged in. I’d prefer the former a little, but either works for me.
Or maybe have it show both
So you have 1½ hour a day, well even when i don’t go very concentrated after them in 95%+ of the days i get them done in around 30 minutes, which is only 1/3 of the time you have it seem, im sure i could do them in like 10 minutes if i really wanted to. And as others have pointed out it is a “daily”, not a “tri-daily” or “weekly” or something like that
No, the cooldown is not shared. Do keep in mind it isn’t stackable (atleast according to the wiki). So if you have quickness on you from any source, it won’t get one from another source. Given the fact that 10% on crit isn’t too much I shouldnt worry too much. Just a quesation though. I only started a thief today. Wouldn’t have quickness on a thief the least of desirable effects. The clue imo is to have skills recharge quicker. Thats how I use it on my mesmer, A thief however relies on the weapon skills on Initiative. Although im still rolling my thief, speccing on quickness sounds as counter-effective imo. Could be wrong though.
Quickness does NOT affect your cd in ANY way, what quickness does is to make the animations execute faster, and thus make you able to do more skills in the same amount of time, which is a GREAT benefit to a thief, since you can spam some of the higher dmg skill a couple times back to back
3 ) No but i wouldn’t suggest just logging out anywhere you may log back into getting beat on by a lot of mobs . Remember GW2 has DEs so you never know when one might spawn on top of you
Yeah you gotta remember that, i sometimes go afk for a pee or something shortly in an outpost, with lots of friendly NPC’s around, forgetting this fact, and come back a minute or 2 later to find myself dead and a champion and some vets maybe or similar on top of me. So the ONLY place you can be sure to be safe is the major towns
Clipping? Is that an argument? It could be. It’s a terrible one, but I guess it is. I just don’t understand that if it IS an argument, why people wouldn’t just avoid cross-class armors that clip? There is no need to redesign armor across the classes so that they don’t clip with each other. People would just naturally avoid silly-looking combinations. More importantly, clipping is also a non-argument since there are several armors within the same armor class that already clip with themselves or other armors of the same class. Good going on that one.
Some ppl just want to TRY and make as ugly characters as possible it seems, Ever played Aion? tiny bodies with HUGE, or vice versa etc, were not a rare sight tbh. Looks beyond ugly, still ppl made that kind of characters. If ppl want to mkae that kind of characters, you can be sure there would be ppl trying to make armor sets that clip as much as possible
And as the OP said, if you’re female, you get unwanted attention, I’ve played enough MMOs and for long enough to know that most women that play them want their privacy, and in most MMOs they get it. But not here it seems.
Most guilds in any MMO’s i dont see any extra “unwanted attention” towards females, yet if that really been a problem for you in the past, why did you tell in the first place, noone can force you to tell your gender
Isn’t this exactly what gw2 is at the moment?
you grind and grind and grind for the legendary, achievements and titles.
You do that if you WANT to for the fun, or the braggin rights, you do NOT do it to get better stats than everyone else. I dont grind for legendary personally because imo they are over the top flashy, so why should I be forced to if they had better stats? Achivement on the other hand i find fun to hunt down, so i do that
Another common field (and the most used one if there is no enemies nearby) would be blast in lightning fields, which would grant swiftness, with enough ppl that can give up to around a whole minute of swiftness or more even, great for getting around (the lightning field though can only be made by ele’s but ofc anyone can do the blast)
4. Books
I don’t know about anyone else, but those little books that we were filling by playing the game gave a sense of progression to the game and were some sort of long term goal. Books like Dungeon Master’s Guide, Player’s Handbook, Flameseeker Prophecies, Nightfall etc
For those that don’t know, those were “books” that players could fill by finishing specific quests/dungeons, they contained one page for each dungeon/mission in the game. Once you had your book filled up to a certain point, you could exchange it for rewards. It could be used in Guild Wars 2 so instead of farming one dungeon, or more importantly one path of a specific dungeon (CoF p1), players would do more paths on a variety of dungeons to fill their books. It would reduce the sense of grinding.
Other books could be based on Jumping Puzzles, Story mode quests (repeatable story steps, why not?), big world bosses, huge event chains etc etc
That actually a VERY good idea, and would help get ppl to actually do more than the same path in same dungeon over and over again
You can already return to the place that you came from with various mechanics in the game:
- Getting kicked out of WvW for inactivity returns you
- Logging off returns you
- Going to the Character Selection screen returns you
Or you can even go to heart of the mist and then use the same button as you entered there to return you to where you last were in the PvE world
AGREED. player housing is the way ahead, LOTRO did this well
i may be wrong but i think runescape started it
he didn’t say that LOTRO was the FIRST to do it, he said that LOTRO did it in a good way, 2 very different things
(now i haven’t really played runescape at all, and didnt play LOTRO enoguh to get a good option on the housing there so wont comment on if i agree with it though)
wait… theres jumping puzzles that require more than 1 person? Then of course theres Super Adventure box currently that can be solo’d as a jumping puzzle dungeon…
And of course the game is an MMORPG, its not designed to be solo’d and putting in lots of content to that extent sort of goes against what they want the game to be.
Hit the nail there, this game is a massive MULTIPLAYER online game, so youa re not supposed to be able to solo everything (and I do like to solo a lot of stuff myself btw). If you want to do all content in the game you have to either join PuG’s or join a guild, if you dont do any of those 2 things, well simply put you wont be able to do all content.
(and yet actually if you were to be good enough it should theoretically be able to solo everything even dungeons and fractals etc, would just take a LOT of skill and time to do)
Yeah i agree why is there even a time limit on them in first place?, in fact i find you can do some pretty hilarious things with them in first place as a thief by making them compliment the steal mechanic, can steal a elixir of heroes from a pirate and then pick one up and voila you got 2 to use right after eachother
Actually i would prefer 2 slots, one fo the actual food items, and one for the maint oils etc
Yet another thread thinking they have the solution to the gold-spam, but in the end would accomplish nothing but hassle for new players, and barely if any inconvenience to the actually gold-spammers. Really any good spammer account is lvl 10-15 in a few hours if not less
This is a pay to play game. It is very likely that people will wander away for a couple of months and still come back later to play. When they do come back they should be able to pick up where they dropped off — including inside their guilds.
You can have up to 500 member slots in your guild. I’d love to hear how many guild leaders are actually at capacity and needing to free up slots… I’m betting it is very few. But, if you are at capacity please suggest or argue for alliances so that you can expand by actually growing instead of asking for this feature that only allows players to be singled out for removal from the guild.
It not ONLY about capacity in large guilds, if you are a new/small guild just starting out, it can be EXTREMELY hard to get ppl to stay if a lot of members are rarely if ever seen, yet if you dont have a lot of officers etc yet can be hard to figure out who is actually inactive, and who just happen to log on at times the leaders are not online
Its so hard everyone has a different opinion =/ guess there is no real answer.
You really hit the head of the nail there there, there really is no answer, ppl can say what they want all classes are relatively good balanced between eachother (not perfectly sure, as that would be an impossibility in a game of such huge scale as GW2, but enough that a good player no matter the class will be able to outplay and win against a bad player), so as some others say pick that class that you like the playstyle of the most. Now if you need help with that maybe explain what kind of style you like to play
But they are just that, a Skin, which was supposed to be the “endgame” promoted, so fair enough imo to have skins that require you to work for it, way better than having to grind for stats
ehh where do you get 30k from for the guild bounty training?… level 3 cost 6500 inf ONLY
You made a rash decision, not giving it any thought. It comes back and bites you in the behind and it’s ANet’s fault? O.o
we want to help you with that, if you delete the characters you have, you will be able to select a new home server. what again ? at the first time i read, i said to myself they can be serious, at least if i knew this when i was level 5 not 21.
I don’t want to sound too elitist, but 21 is easy to get to. If I only had one character of level 21 and my choices were reroll or pay up…I’d reroll.
which exactly was the rash decision about it ?
selecting a server at the beginning ? how if i would have chose a server on which i was alone because of low pop ? should i would have been punished for that aswell ? (because i had bad experience with ques in the past in other mmos i almost chose a low population server. thanks god i chosed a high one.).and no, i do not delete characters i put time/effort in them.
it took me about 1 h to create and make my character. i will continue to play with it.
if i could have start another character on the same account on another server, i would have done that. but i canot.
punish and blame more people for the beginer mistakes they make in a fairly different mmo vs the crowd ones. that will surely make it popular.
If you are a member of a community, that would have just the slightest of chance to go into it maybe just MAYBE you should have asked around first so you could make a informed decision about what server to go to, so yes i would call it very rash. and even if it took 1hour to make it first time cant you remember the choices and do it in 5-10mins next time?
And what would this boon give that Stabilty don’t give already?, sound like a slightly weaker version of stabilty to me (depending on its duration, could in cases be even stronger than stabilty, if they duration is longer)
hmm before i would agree with Mithran, that it would be WAY OP, but with the quickness change it might be feasible, though not 100% sure if it would be too much
You made a rash decision, not giving it any thought. It comes back and bites you in the behind and it’s ANet’s fault? O.o

Yeah 21 is VERY easy, and well 2nd and 3rd time obviously even faster than the first time, as you know what to do. Also anything you put in your bank and colletibles (yes that means you can keep pretty much all your items that not soulbound, and all your money too, by putting it into your bank. All achievements are kept as well as those are account wise too
Doesn’t matter if I only have 5-6 of them per dungeon. That’s 4-5 inventory slots WITHOUT a rare or better in them for salvage. Aka 1-3 ectos each per salvage, 25 silver pieces or better each ecto! 4-5 slots in that case is over 1 gold, at minimum! >=(
ehh how does it not matter, really if you have just 10slot bags there no reason you inventory should get anywhere near full in a single dungeon run anyway, only time i get full inv is in fractal runs and well there those bags dont drop so :P
Also necro have a trait in 5pt in a line that give a 66% chance on crit to apply bleeding, (most if not all profession have similar traits), so precision very well compliment condition dmg
AFAIK the explorer achievements are NOT needed to get the title, jsut all the POI’s vistas, Hearts and WP’s in the world. heard some ppl fixed world completion bugs like that (though never heard of this exact scenario) though by visiting the Chantry of secret (even if they already been there before), so try that otherwise send a bug report
(mind you i havent got world completion yet myself, so no personal experience only what i read on the forums from other ppl)
(edited by GummiBear.2756)
nah that wont solve a thing you can easy get from city to city alrady anyway through LA, to truely populate them you need to give ppl an actual reason to go there
I agree, a way to get FPS and ping shown directly on the screen while actively playing would be VERY helpful
Use mobile authenticator?
