all the strong and dangerous attacks have very obvious cues tbh (like cave trolls ahve their club glowing for a while before smashing it into the ground, or kholer in AC, lifts his sword in the air before doing the pull etc etc), and they can’t really make an obvious cue for all the smaller normal attacks would make no sense

Why laurels and ectos?

Rings are easiest to obtain via fotm.
Amulet are cheapest using laurels.
Accessories are cheapest with commendations.

The devs want people to do different things but if you insist of not doing them, they added other abeit less efficient ways to get it.

amulets are not cheapest with laurel they can ONLY be gotten from laurel, and for those of us preferring small guilds commendations is not even en option, at least not for the next couple YEARS. so yeah that leaves 40 laurel and 50 ecto for EACH, and i never been above a 60something ectos at once…

the troll cave jp in LA is quick and easy (though i find if you use swiftness it easy to jump a bit too far on the first few jumps, where a move signet actually seem to be a good increase that makes it easier to not jump too short but rarely makes you jump too far either)

any pair can work well together though with a warrior being heavy on combo finishers and have very little fields i would suggest some class that have at least a decent amount of fields

Refer to http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Combo to see what fields and finisher gives what effects and which classes have access to which fields (doesn’t list if they have more of the same fields, unless you click on the fields name to get to the type of fields specific page)

As others mentioned elemetalist have a lot of fields, memser too have quite a few as well, though not many types, the etheral field though which very few classes infact have access to at all, and if they do it onyl 1 or 2 where the mesmer is filled to the brim with them, if done correctly you can have a near 100% uptime of that field with mesmer. Now in PvE physical and while finisher in a ehteral aint the greates due to how slow mobs attack and thus you are lucky to get 2 procs before the confusion run out. Chaos armor from blast or leaps on the other hand are AMAZING, each time you are hit while having chaos armor on the enemy gets a random condition and you get a random defensive boon (protection, regeneration, swiftness), mesmer itself with a staff can use a skill to gain chaos armor as well for itself, with the added bonus of getting protection when you use that skill, unlike through the combo version but otherwise it works identical

The 40 laurel/50 ecto price is for the people now making long kitten posts about being stuck in small guilds, and not waning to socialise.

quite the contrary, it is way easier to socialise in a small guild as you will likely know everyone (not necessarily in RL, but ingame) where in a big guild, you are just one of the mass

I’m going with the following:

  • They plan on retroactively rewarding Laurels for non-daily/monthly achievements a few patches from now. Players will have 10~30x more laurels then before, and the prices won’t look as steep as they do now.

Currency will be printed – But prices won’t change.

Hallelujah~

and by then they adding ascended weapons and armor too costing 1000 laurel per piece or so making it effectively be the same time consuming grind

and well for me it not a “filler” between exotic and legendary, since i have no intention to get a legendary at any time soon, likely never ever even. So for me it is just an added grind to get the BiS items… wasn’t it supposed to be easy and relatively quick to get BiS items in gw2? and then you could if you wanted grind for cosmetics

the problem is, with a such smaller backload of tokens ppl will not even finish the dungeons, they farm and kill everything up to the first 1 or 2 bosses and then quit and restart the dungeon. Only way to really make ppl kill EVERYTHING is to ensure you have to kill everything, maybe put in more “gates” (or whatever fits the theme of the dungeon to work similar) where you have to kill the thrash before it even opens up

Yeah this guild update is stupid, the fact alone that it is lvl 5 tree, but also it seem taht to unlock ANY guild mission in any tree you need art of war 5, which no small pve guilds will have invested in AT ALL

1. About how long would it take for a new gw1 player to get a decent amount of points? Is it gonna take a while? Say 30 points.

Well, let’s go to the calculator. Merely having your accounts linked gives you 3. Doing anything to give you 10 statues will net you another 6; this can be anything you feel like doing but if you all the missions with full bonus on both hard mode and normal you can net 10 statues. Every 5 statues after that is 1 point. Minimal effort earns you about 10 points here.

Minis will get you up fast IF you get a Black Moa Chick which will count as 2 points. (Note, it is easier to get the pieces yourself and find someone who can run you to do the last part than to pay the price for it.) A “Rare” mini may run you some coin but you can do it. This will earn you 3 more points. You’ll need to get 20 minis to get another point and every 10 minis after that will earn you 1 point until you hit 50. Minimal effort will get you 3 points here. Buying cheap “common” miniatures will get you to 20 minis fast so maybe 4 points before you are looking at expensive efforts.

Get “Charm Animal” and pick up the following animals: Phoenix (end of Factions campaign), Black Moa (quest line in the Kurzick territories of Factions), Black Widow (Underworld quest spawn), and any other level 20 pet. Add MOX for a 5 points total. Getting special hero armor for heroes will allow you to add another to this monument for more points. Minimal effort gets you 5.

Resilience will be costly since you need special armors, and if you can get: Vabbian, Kurzick/Luxon, and any other 3 armors you will earn 6 points. Vabbian will be expensive but do-able. Kurzick/Luxon will take some Faction-based PvP but you can do it. Don’t . . . don’t try for Obsidian Armor unless you hate your life.

Valor requires weapons. This can be expensive. You need either Destroyer, Oppressor, or Tormented weapons. Tormented will be expensive to buy the token for, Destroyer will cost a lot of rarer materials, and Oppressor requires you finish the “War in Kryta” content, which can be really tough for your average player.

With enough help and possibly a mentoring figure you can probably get most of this done in a month or two. And pick up other points for yourself, perhaps, but you’ll probably wind up around 20-25 before needing to expend effort.

2. Is everything a one time purchase or can I buy an unlimited amount of something?

All the skin transmutations are unlimited. Go nuts!

3. I am interested in the heritage armors. Is it a complete set or do I buy it in parts? How much points is it?

Just by linking and doing a minimal effort for 6 points, you’ll have all the Heritage armor. Get to 10 and you get the Fiery Dragon Sword. You can buy it in parts and thus apply it in parts. (Heritage medium shoulderpads are a nice exchange for some forms.)

And here we have again again again a what sound like a longtime gw1 player that forgot how long some of that stuff might take if you avhe start from scratch and dont know anyone who can help… i mean spoon feed you stuff

That said i got 5 points (that all but the heritage helm, and i rarely ever show my helm in games anyway prefer to show my hair) thus still took a while but was quite doable with no help whatsoever (hard to find ppl to play with so had to solo pretty much everything) first 3 by linking account so yeah that free, the others 2 i got 1 from getting mox (having all 3 campaigns and a lvl 10 character), and 1 for a lvl 20 ranger pet and think im somewhat close to getting the prophecies campaign done but grew tired of my ranger so never got on with it, each campaign completed should award another 1 point and 1 extra point if you complete all the bonus objectives in all the missions as well

6pt is all you need for all the heritage armor and they can be used as many times as you want to

1-5 for weapons, heal is on the thumb button on my mouse, and my elite is on another mouse button as well and then QER for utilities. Profession skills are alt+1-4

It needs citations so parts could be incorrect. There is no target of target, or an aggro ui, such as is found in other mmo’s. Whether or not they add this functionality in the future remains to be seen.

a target’s target wont really work in this game since (as Khisanth.2948) anyone standing in the way of a projectile or within a swords reach will get hit, which mean you may not even hit the target you have, but could be hitting 5 others enemies instead (that can be used to your advatage, if you need to kill some mobs but keep in eye on others to remove boons for example when they get some on them (specailyl might or fury boons) you can target the ones that gets boons while just standing near others and hit them

Please make weekly achievements.

no creating a legendary will give you the specific time you want depending on what gifts and precursors you use (gift of exploration being use don all legendaries)… Seriously do ppl not even care to try research about stuff they want in games these day, a simple look on wiki would have told you the reward for map completion as well as what each specific legendary would need to be crafted

Daily Dodger - easy fix!

you have to wait the very last moment, when you see the “evade” text pop out of your dodge you get the score. actually dodging wurms make you score twice. with some practice it become very easy

Also, persistent patches that pulse, like poison fields or whatever, if you’re hit by them but dodge out, if you manage to dodge a pulse, it will also show up as evaded.

not to mention you likely get not one dodge for doing those but likely 3-4 most times at least

Personally, this suggestion, while good, is kind of pointless.

We’re supposedly getting the ability to choose what we want in our own dailies soon.

And the simplest solution to the problem with the new horrible daily is to just remove them, and go back to the old daily that anyone could complete easily in half an hour.

NO PLEASE NO, I stopped doing the old dayli because it was the same stupid grind every day to do, now I actually have fun doing it because it is different each day. Sure we been through all the different objectives by now but at least they mix around sufficiently that it feels like new stuff each day

now dont played ranged more than to lvl 4-5 or so so cant comment there though to the original idea, it wouldn’t work, how would it handle a ground targeted aoe? (which is currently one of the best way to get dodges, how does the game know if you where its intended target? or ppl swinging sword etc at you without actually having you as target? i do that a LOT and really dodges is one of the easiest to get already, usually the first i complete

I would just be me, a normal human. But I would make my wife a Mesmer, because 3 clones and me.. well I’ll just leave it at that.

you might think thats good in bed. but at any one time there can be 5 instances of you in GW if not more, now the bed room would be fun but imagine all that nagging, “is the house clean, did you get this?” imagine 5-6 pmsing clones, pregnant clones………moody clones……..ya not that fun….

Luckily they only last a few seconds :P

they last until their target is dead, which sound to be you so yeah until you are dead is how long they last :P

GS + Staff for a while in WvW using either 20/20/0/0/30 or 10/20/0/10/30. It’s pretty good except for the part where stealth spamming thieves eat your face :/

Stealth is essentially a complete immunity to single target attacks, which is entirely what a GS/Staff set up is. In the end, not being able to deal with stealth spamming thieves was too big of a problem in WvW, considering they are everywhere.

I find sword/(any offhand) necessary for fighting thieves. The immobilize, invulnerability, and offhand utility (stun/pull/stealth/block) is invaluable.

ehmm put a chaos storm under yourself for the block if you know a thief is around in stealth as just one simple solution, staff gives a LOT of good tools tbh against stealth thieves

Being somewhat of loner player, I enjoyed the artificial company in Nightfall. But from what I heard, the hero system unbalanced gameplay… or something. I don’t really know what the problem was exactly.

What do you guys predict?

Didn’t play a lot of GW1 but from what i hear, a person with a full party of heroes could in gw1 be just as if not even more effective that a party with only human players

I use the personal bank, guild bank, and trading post in WvW, when they are available. It’s very usefull to have access to these no matter where you are in the world. And then I just go to the character selection screen then play character (or go to the Mists) to return to where I was.

yeah really handy… except when your borderland got a queue (sadly happen most of the times for own borderland+EB on my server during peak time

think of the fee as you dot have room in your pockets for tools for more than 2 crafting professions so each time you want to swap, you have to buy new tools and there wont be room for those in your pockets so you have to throw out the tools of one of the crafts you have, thus if you want to do that one again, you have to buy new tools again

this been suggested SO many times… use the search feature next time… but yeah anyway IF thy give a out of combat wep swap to engi and*or ele they shoudl give it to ANY class, i do swap weapons out of combat on my thief too for instance. most times i roll a sword/dagger, showtbow but some bosses for instance i just know is not feasible to melee at ALL so i swap the sword/dagger to a pistol/pistol so im all ranged for that fight, so why should i not be allowed to do that faster if ele and engi can? on top ele and specially engi have very FEW different weapons already compared to most if not all other classes so uses less inventory space for it that others do as well

well the main problem i think with this would be that ppl usually cut a LOT of travel time on foot by jumping down cliffs (this is SPECAILLY true for borderlands) which is not really that practical for a vehicle to do. Also though if put in they should NOT cost that much money, but instead a lot of supplies to build so it in no way could really be done properly with 2-3 ppl only but would require a real team effort like when you put up trebs and siege golems

With logoff you are directly back in orr without porting and porting cost.

condition duration affects ALL conditions including confusion.

BUT keep in mind that the illusions (clones and phantasm) of a mesmer does NOT benefit from your condition duration on anything be it bleeds, confusions, cripples etc etc

you dont even have to log off, just after you done in wvw, go to heart of the mist and then back out from there via the button in the spvp window should work too

LOL healing is only a MINOR part of why guardians have low health, more importanly is their easy access to block boon every 40 sec and as well as on demand block when they need from multiple sources (both skills or activating their block virtue) as well as high uptime of protection.

As for thief that is because of bad bad players, not because thiefs have low health, i dont consider myself a very good thief player yet (though am improving every day) yet I dont die that much already in dungeons

Try rightclick “Computer” in the start menu and select “Properties”, then click advanced system setting at the left of that window you got, then go to the advanced tab and and click the “setting…” under the Startup and recovery section and uncheck the “Restart automatically” next time you likely get the so called BSOD or Blue screen of death, once that happen write down the error code there and then restart your comp and google that code, and you will be able to quite easy find the exact reason and likely a solution too

I recognize the warrior as something that should have a slightly higher health and vitality of some kind. I believe this is in keeping with their class design concepts.

It is, just as it is in line with a thief class concept to have low, health and a guardian class concept to have low health etc etc

Chaos Armour is a lot stronger then most ppl know. Its every time you take dmg it goes off so if you have a bleed or burning it will go off. It is the counter to condition dmg and aoe in effect.

O_o i did knew chaos armor was strong but never considered or noticed it got procced by all the condition ticks, and I even have a mesmer as my most played character * feels ashamed *

ehmm a guardian with as much health as a necro, or mesmer would be WAY OP guard is already the class that can potentially reach one of it not the highest survivability despite having the lowest health pool.

And LOL really you talk about giving all equal health yet give warrior more health and toughness (which by the same would be the same as saying they alone should ahve more health… may I geuss? you play a warrior?)

Plain put the game is balanced around all classes have different base health pools, if you where to change that you would have to remake ALL the profession from scratch

This is the best MMO right now and this transfer thing is a crock of crapola. My family and I transferred from Tarnished Coast to Henge of Denravi to be with another family member back when it was being told you can transfer every 7 days, that was a free move. Now we have friends from Tarnished Coast asking us to come back and start a guild and I can’t because I don’t have any gems. Oh yeah we just spent like 300 more dollars on this game for bank space. I know you guys at ArenaNet have to make some money but dang man, can one of the Anet guru’s answer as to why it is so much or why it is cost anything when it was told it was going to be free to transfer back in the day. I thought you all were better than Blizzard, this blows monkey chunks! How about a free transfer back to the server you started from and made friends with??

It was said BEFORE release that eventually it was gonna cost money to transfer…
Also seriously people only speak answer this kind of topics if you actually KNOW it, not if you only think you know it, The amount of misinformation being spewed around on these forums is HUGE

Odd question, since I haven’t fooled with permissions. But can’t you segregate access to the Guild Stash versus the Treasure Trove? Keep the valuable stuff in the Trove and only officers/leaders can access it, and use the Stash for every-day things?

Yes you can, is both a Guild Stash Deposit, Guild Stash Withdraw, Treasure trove Deposit and Treasure withdraw permission

Solving 100% completion problem

Maybe but what good is that?

Simple. you send 10 people out with this invulnerability flag, sit by every gate/pathways and watch and report enemy movements, would be impossible for anyone to do any kind of golem rush or surprise attack. May as well just put enemy markers on the maps so we can see where they are 100% of the time.

Yeah nice of you to remove the rest of what I said so I will have to repeat myself.
You can do the same by simply staying dead in the place where you want to spy – no one can remove your dead body so you can still see and report what the enemy is doing. And you can do that for much longer than 10 min and its easy because you can just use enemy NPC’s to die near the enemy world doorstep. And there is no such thing as surprise attack as the moment you hit a door or wall everyone will know you are attacking anyway so unless they dont care they will counter attack.
So stop pretending to be Zhuge Liang because there is no such thing as refined strategy in wvw. Its just run in with all you got and hope for the best.

Yes they know the moment you attack door, but if you have just less than 6 ppl kill all the siege equipment and npc’s and then set up rams they wont know before you already begin ramming the door, by which time it is way too late to defend that door, since first then need to move there so by the time they actually get to defend the door be life half dead already likely and well any siege the put up will be dead (oils and canons and mortars included obv) so they only have their own player attacks

Poison – Health Stealing Abilities – Healing Power

These 3 things should all work in conjunction.

Health stealing abilities (traits, skills, runes, sigils, food) should all scale with healing power cough Necromancer abilities cough and the damage dealt by the actual stealing should also scale with Healing Power. Thus making healing power both a healing and damage stat.

In return, Poison should affect health stealing the same way it affects normal healing abilities. The only place this may come out of whack is in PvE because there aren’t many mobs that poison. Therefore, more mobs simply need to poison you. Would be a lot less annoying than being perma-CC’d for 15 seconds.

As a side note, there should be no fixed healing at all. Every healing ability in the entire game should scale with healing power. Eg. Necromancers Transfusion trait shouldn’t be a fixed healing number at 2628, it should scale.

And another thing.

Boons from sources such as Superior Sigil of Strength that grants Might for 10 seconds, should not be a fixed 10 second duration no matter what. If I have 30% boon duration because of my build, this Might granted should last 13 seconds, not 10. Stop limiting builds for no good reason. If I have 40% condition duration, Sigil of Superior Earths bleeding should last 7 seconds, not 5. Don’t like that it makes other sigils pale in comparison? Then buff some other sigils, because, quite frankly, most other sigils in this game are crap and need to be buffed as it is. You can see perfectly well what sigils people use by just looking at the trading post. There are maybe 10 total that the majority use, the rest are NPC garbage.

So Anet, do us all a favour and get rid of fixed numbers in this game. It completely ruins theory crafting and severely limits builds. Let us build the way we want.

This. I just want that good feel of variety I had in GW1. People keep saying “GW1 only had a few good skills and 90% were useless.” Untrue. I had well over 20 builds in prophecies and that number blew up with the expansions. I only have 4 in GW2 for my necro…..

And i bet you could easily make 200+ more builds that would be completely useless in gw1. (which would be about 90% more builds)

Also while it sound nice on paper having life steal scale with healing power could very much end up in it either being OP and make it impossible to kill stuff with healing powered life leeching, or make it so you would NEED to stack it to get a even a half decent amount of healing out of it. IF anything i rather say the healing from life stealing should directly depend on the amount of damage you do
