Preorder Bonus - Season 1 of Living World?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

I do understand that it would be a massive amount of work, don’t get me wrong. But if like any company with a reasonable team does, they back up data. Everything should still all be there, just saved in some backlog in case of emergencies.
And if I can’t get Season One.. at least let me have my bunny ears. So all the two+ year players will stop taunting me with them…
The problem is that a LOT of the season 1 content was happening out in the open world not in instances, so a pure backup restore would simply not work, they would have to convert it all to instances and stuff, and that would take a HUGE amount of work
you basically be able to buy the same thing with the spirit shards that you do currently for the MF merchant for skill points
since the amount of stuff ppl been able to datamine, as well as people in the beta never had to download extra stuff to access the beta with same client they use for normal game too, i would say a lot of the HoT content are already in the game , and more will be added with each patch, so doubt the update at launch day with be that big (still bigger than a normal patch likely, but nothing you would need 2-3 days to update)
I’ve gotten a bunch of these. I’m actually surprised at the number of players that seem not to have heard of this scam already.
There’s only a small percentage that visit the forums so the issue isn’t as known as you might think in the game. People fall for it on a regular basis (hence why they still do it). Kind of makes me wish the forums were a bigger part of the game.
if they really fall for it, i cant really ahve pity with them, between the horrible grammar and spelling, the more than just a Little suspicious link (that you have to write manually, as you can you click or copy-paste from an ingame mail…), and the warning at the bottom that the mail is not from ANet, it is their own kitten fault for still actually going to the website
well… the more obvious place to ask that is… you know… directly to support, instead f asking on the forums really…
the no spirit skitten level up after 80 aint exactly new info (except we didnt knew it was gonna be called spirit shards before today), since we gonna get mastery Progress when HoT comes out instead of levels after lvl 80
EDIT: stupid filter censoring half the new currency name…
Agreed, structures need to be conditionable
If staff can be melee, spear can be land.
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

from a pure technical viewpoint making a melee staff, is just the same as making it ranged, no more difficult, or difference there, making a spear a land weapon would be to essentially have to reconfigure it pretty much from the bottom to allow it to be placed in a slot used elsewhere, not even certain they have the capability in the engine to even allow a weapon to be both above and below water.
So yeah 2 VERY different things (we do already have ranged greatswords and soon hammers as well)
This could be a difficulty, but there are plenty of pets that are usable on both land and underwater – the process should be pretty similar.
Except pets and weapons have absolutely NOTHING in common, cant exactly copy code from amphibious pets over to water weapons, and make some minor adjustments and its done…, would be the easier way probably to make the code from scratch for the weapons int aht case, and then we back to the start.
And as someone else mentioned the general animations for underwater weapons are built around a water theme (something with fish swimming around some of them if i remember correct) how would those look on land? xD

Does anyone know the cap or is there only a cap on the dailies? I have completed several achievements and done my dailies some days.
There’s only a cap on the dailies, nothing else. You can gain as many achievement points as you want at any given time so long as you have the skill and time to do so.
And as long as there are achievements to do as well :P
Interesting, it was at 0 supply for a moment. That is a rare sight for such a common high supply item.
On a related note, anyone know why ancient wood has been exploding since last month?
https://www.gw2tp.com/item/19712-ancient-wood-plankNearly all common mats have been rising in value and declining in supply for quite some time now.
My guess is that its a combination of new demand from new players from the last 10$ sales and less mats being farmed.I would hazard a wild guess that the gold transfer changes might have something to do with it, culling the farmbot population even further.
hmm that is an interesting point, i do wonder how the supply/demand of common items would look in a MMO that somehow managed to not have ANY farm bots at all (yeah yeah i know a dream world), and how much of the supply would actually come from legitimate players
If anyone has heard of Smite, a MOBA that was goign under they decided to switch their monetary model to a one time buy. That game got a huge boost after that but now the money has more or less stopped coming in which is risking the future of the game.
Source please?
Last i checked SMITE is free and always have been… the only one time buy you can do would be to buy the ultimate god pack to unlock all the gods(but is not in any way necessary to play), a thing i gladly did when i played the game, cause guess what… that was an account wide unlock… but you cant really compare that as a MOBA is on a very fundamentals level different to a MMO in how it works.
So yeah an account wide bag upgrade for a bit more than the current upgrade cost i would gladly buy in gw2, this character wide one i wont, like many others it seem.
An NOONE can know in this thread whether they would get more or less money in the long run by giving us an account wide option, no matter what side of the argument you are on, so that why we give a suggestion for it letting them know there are some people at least that would buy the account wide that dont buy the current one, then it is up to ANet to decide if it would earn them enough to allow it
Had my Female Norn Mesmer since just after launch.
My only real gripe is that some armor models have some daft scaling on the Norn frame.
That said, I am currently waiting for the removal of the NPE to make a sylvari mesmer instead.
Pretty much same here, either sylvari or maybe asura, but leans most towards the sylvari
hmm wonder what term you used to search then? “Combo” Combo Field" “Combo Finisher” all 3 takes you directly to that page :P
I can’t remember, it was about 3 years ago, and I don’t understand why you’re being snarky. Sorry if I’ve offended you by saying thank-you. I won’t bother in future.
wow, sorry if it came across like that, it was certainly NOT my intention. Mainly wanted to give a five hints to what words could be used to search for it, to make it easier for you (and anyone else that need it) to look it up faster in the future
This time it isnt from an ingame mail but on a site. But yeah i know what you mean.
Actually the link is from an in-game mail. The op simply copied it (manually) and posted it here.
Hey do give credit where credit is due, kinda impressive that the OP did manage to copy that god-aweful complicated link without errors :P
What happens if the item you personally mark as junk suddenly becomes of value on the TP due to a stat change?
Its a risk you’d take. I’d imagine a system where you could deselect ’’Junk’’ items as well as selecting them.
Also, I have a feeling that having a long, long list on everybody’s account as what is junk to them might slow the servers down. Remember there are literally thousands of different possibilities, from minor runes to all the various levels and stat choices of blue & green weapons/armour.
But I think it might be better when you sell to a vendor if you have a tick box next to each one, and have a ‘Sell Selected Items’ instead, so there’s no overhaul to make a list of every single possible item in game.
Yes, thats exactly what we need! I don’t imagine it’d be hard to do either. Thanks for your feedback! I hope a dev sees this.
Ehmm we dont have anything similar in the game already, so would require totally new coding, so sorry, but it would be anything but easy to implement.
That said @penelopehannibal.8947 no i dont think it would need any storage on the servers really, this could quite easily i imagine being done clientside, and then when you actually sell items, the server would get the information the same way it always did when you sell items to a merchant
I really think ANet need to put the “this mail is from another player” message at the top of mails in giant red all caps or something, because how often this gets brought up utterly baffles me, is it really that missable?
Even then you can be sure there would be people stupid enough to miss it
You mean like the table on this page http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Combo that been there for ages :P
I actually searched on the wiki before for info but I didn’t find that page, maybe I wasn’t using the right search term. Anyway thanks for posting it, it’s a brilliant page of info! I’m now trying to dredge up my old college revision techniques so I can just learn the whole page off by heart
hmm wonder what term you used to search then? “Combo” Combo Field" “Combo Finisher” all 3 takes you directly to that page :P
The combat system is probably one of the best, dynamic events are a interesting and nice touch, everything else is really standard themepark MMO.
Decent game for what its designed for, but nothing that would cause literal tears. Lets not go overboard.
Well while it is only one “thing” the combat system dictates how the whole games is played and as such affect the whole game
‘Do you understand elemental fields?’
Nope.
But this is going to help me a LOT, I think
SMOKE: (enigineer/thief)

smoke+ projectile = blind?? (not sure)WATER: (engineer, elementalist,ranger)
water + blast = aoe heal
water + projectile = healing boltFIRE (warrior, guardian, elementalist, ranger, engineer)
fire + blast = might
fire+ prjectile = burning projectile
fire+ leap = fire auraLIGHTNING (Elementalist, ?)
lightning + blast = swiftnessDARK (Necro, Thief)
dark fields + blast = weaknessLIGHT (Necro, Guardian)

light+ leap = retaliationCHAOS (Mesmer)
chaos+ blast = AoE chaos armor
chaos+ leap = chaos armor (tend to be usefull on condi warriors)
chaos + projectile = confusionWhich are the main ones I know…
I really hate the light one though with blast, as it is used often Guard Staff #3 in combination with static fields (ligthning)… and you want the statics to be blasted for swiftness.
Oh and I know about whirls but I tend to ignore them….
Please add whirls
And please please add this to the /wiki
And please please PLEASE get a job with Anet redesigning the NPE
You mean like the table on this page http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Combo that been there for ages :P
projectile dark is lifesteal not blind :P, and leap is blind not lifesteal
as you said good for some healing on thief, uses SR+pistol stealth skill a lot for quite a bit of healing on my p/p thief, is amazing healing from that
ugh … was thinking of the smoke fields. Mostly from the stuff about changes to defiance and how blinds will affect the defiance bar. Lightning Field + Heartseeker spam is also nice.
well is a lot of nice cross-class comboes, sadly a lot of ppl dont realise most of them.
And yeah black powder gonna be awesome against defiance bar, pulsing blind+smoke field

Just use http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Combo#Combo_effects …
Dark fields do not give weakness. It is either blind(blast, projectile) or life steal(leap, whirl). Useful for a bit of quick healing on a thief, in PvE and maybe some situations in WvW. Weakness would probably be a bit more useful although that depends on what content you do more often.

maybe have it an option in custom arena’s to remove the timer, as it would certainly not be for anyone, nor for the most of the players to enjoy without the timer, though it could be interesting once in a while, and specially if someone do it as a mini gvg
It’s officially the Revenant Legend reveal for Ventari!
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/revenant-compassion-as-a-way-of-life/
Supportive/Healing, staff, and Ventari…. yup lot of us called that
even got a “I Can Outrun a Centaur!” headline as someone mentioned something like that too :P
I also recently returned to GW2 after looking around for another MMO to play. But alas, ArenaNet have spoiled me so much I just can’t play any other MMO these days, even ones I played for years before GW2.
It’s all ArenaNet’s fault.
This soo soo much, i used to play a LOT of Rift before GW2 (had a max level rogue tank in early raid gear when i stopped that), and really enjoyed that game back then… trying to go back and play it, i just cant stand the combat or anything on the most basic level, and same with a couple other MMO’s i used to enjoy
The problem is it won’t automatically go in the invisible bag if you have any other open slots higher up.
That why my invisible bag is my first bag
wait what? you “solution” to avoid an endless match by removing timers… is to nerf players? that gonna drag it even further out… how does that even make sense?
Looking at the new specialization trees, regardless of what way you build, all of the mesmer’s strength seems to come from shatter.
This is especially true with certain traits like the ability to gain 30% damage on phantasms removed.
I don’t really see much support (even in chrono) for mantra or phantasm builds. Even a full bar of wells seems weak in comparison to what you can do with CShift + shatters.
I feel like the new meta will push us further into glass only high clone generation shatter spike.
Chrono, Illu, Dom with full shatter traits is just plain nuts. I don’t think any other build setup will compete with that.
I dont think that Illusionary reversion will give you enough extra clones really to varant going without DE
Even if they can figure out Death Blossom, how do their figure out Dagger Storm? That’s 8 seconds of whirling around instead of just the 1/4 seconds during DB.
You turn https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3F06jMlh-g into something like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SyNpp5MVSTA
Easy XD
Wouldn’t really work, as the torso of a centaur (ie where they daggers are being throw from) is at the front of the horse body, not the middle, making it look very weird and wrong to have them spin around the middle of the horse body
Mwolves are nothing. The ones with sooper speed are the te-itiswaytooearlytothinkofhowtospellthem. They can be far away and suddenly I will find myself looking up at their tusks (or whatever you would call them).
“Only 5 seconds until the attacks stop and nobody near so I guess I can breathe no… oh kitty-kat!”
gonna agree with that, Mwolfs… who cares, as long as there is not 10 at once (but 10 of any mob will be tough to deal with alone), now teragriff… just one or 2 of those beasts, and it can be a nightmare
maybe allow to heal him with supplies?
Problem is.. neither of those are really content are they.
They don’t really impact the game in a huge way.I don’t even see realistically right now that HoT is anything other than just a bundle of QoL changes with some new maps.
While you can argue they are not technically content… saying it wont impact the game in a huge way?… wut…??? it gonna impact the game for SURE, everyone basically have to redo their entire builds, and likely learn new ways to play your profession, is certain to impact the game WAY WAY WAY more than a temporary event thing, which is the most you can hope for in term of “true” content before HoT
And if you think HoT is only a bunch of QoL changes… then you either have NO idea what QoL means, or you have not read many if any of even the blog post, let along the devstreams
If the animators can’t pull it off, that’s one thing. But saying it can’t be done because ‘centaurs can’t do that!’ is not a valid excuse.
I imagine that it’s not that it can’t be done but that it would be a lot of work and then still look kinda awkward. It’s a costs/benefits thing (as is everything of course).
This is basically IT, ie it CAN certainly be done, but it would require probably about 3-4 times as much work as for a bipedal race, and the result would likely still come out either kinda clunky, or at the edge of comedy like, thus it is VERY VERY VERY unlikely.
Also for armors… it is NOT as simple as just scaling down armor and it all fits perfectly, it has to fit exactly to the body, and snap into it according to the character we make during character creation that can have quite a lot of small changes that the armors have to fit to, there is probably some kind of autoscaling thing for that, but they have to make sure the textures down get weird and stretchy or similar, when that happen.
Also chest is nowhere NEAR that of the humans for a LOT of the armors, what about all the coats and dresses? (which is a large amount of medium and light armor)
(edited by GummiBear.2756)
well the condition cap removal as well as the new specialisation system they have said will be out before HoT (the ELITE specs will be part of HoT only, but the core specs will be out before)
Swap a pair of say berserker boots, to soldier boots, there you allocated your own stats
Well if Crowfall can have playable centaurs then so can GW2!
But I doubt they’ll suddenly pull a centaur playable race out of nowhere. They’d have announced it at PAX.
So yeah my proverbial-money is on Revenant Legend.
I would really like for you to try and imagine a centaur thief doing a death blossom…
ehmm… Guardian is like one of, if not the most sought after class for dungeons and fractals…
Maybe.
Very unlikely though. It is actually very unlikely that we will get much if any content before HoT.
Tomorrow is also Stronghold beta and it seems unlikely that they would want to risk bugging something out for that.
Well aint that a kind of “new” content?
Guys — so sorry for the long period of non-communication. No, I wasn’t abducted by aliens.
Sure it is not aliens controlling the ship? :P
Anyway do enjoy, your vacation, you surely deserved it
It would be interesting what other mechanics are also attach to the break bar;
- Invulnerable
- Immune to physical dmg
- Immune to crits
- Immune to condition dmg
- Bar only effected by certain conditions or CCs but not all.
- Medium to large heal regen
- Contant condition application (poison, weakness, cripple, chill…)
- Contant damaging field (physical, condition…)
- Summoning waves of reinforcements
- Endurance draining field
- Unblockable attacks
The largest part about Zerker is the ability to survive through active defend. If encounters start to effect this minimum active defence other build option might open up.
It would also be interesting if some areas & encounters locked skills & weapons with only some area were you still could swap. This might mean you can’t optimise for individual encounters but need a kit or group composition which varies from standard zerker to complete the whole challenge.
I like that idea, the way the breakbar is currently in the beta, i do fear for the majority of the content it will be flat out ignored
That..wont happen, sorry. Little to late now that theyve added in Multiple sets of weapons with various looks. Armor…maybe, but maybe when they add in legendary armor!
Why? all crafted ascended use same skins, and the other skins for ascended are well drops… so you get them for the skins 90% of the time, just like a lot of other items in the game. And i am pretty sure the majority of people dont even use the ascended skins on many if any of their characters.
To be honest imo ascended should be same stat amount as exotic, but then allow you to swap stats as needed on it, would still be very useful but not fell as forced to get it then, but still be a major benefit to have it (also remember it is accountbound even after equipped too)
In the end yes you can argue what class is easier or harder generally, but in the end, like any MMO, and particularly in GW2, due to the way the combat system works it relies HEAVILY on your own playstyle. While most will say that rangers and warrior is generally pretty easy to play, where mesmer and thief lies in the hard end of it, those 2 been relatively easy from the start of, where(while not terrible at them at this point) warrior and ranger still kinda rough on me.
to sum up, i would say pick a class you like the idea of, and sound fun and play that one, dont play one because everyone says it is easy
HoT confusing to professional game reviewer?

About verdant brink being one big event?, how does he know? that beta shows about 40% of ONE of the three layers, so around 15% of the map.
And as someone else already aid he clearly haven’t played the game much before and/or didnt read up on ANY of the content from blogs beforehand.
So yeah seem anything but “professional” to meGiven the ‘eventful’ trend of the last two new zones, it’s not unreasonable to expect more of the same.
True, but it is nowhere near proof either, a reviews should be based on facts, not assumptions

Try that : http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Stun_break
That list makes me laugh. 2 abilities for a Ranger vs. 4+ for every other class. LOL @ 6 for a Thief.
You don’t read so good do you?
Rangers have 4 stunbreaks, 1 auto stunbreak, and long stability uptime.
You don’t read so good do you?
That post was made 2 years ago, so obviously the list is WAY WAY different back then than it is today
They don’t want you to be able to buy these features without giving the company money.
This is such a flawed argument i see time and again for getting things in gemstore, if you have gems you are giving ANet money, just not necessarily your own money(okay there is the 400gems for every 10k AP you get, but AFAIK that is the ONLY way the game generate free gems, so that is a minuscule amount in the big scheme for things), but the gem exchange works as a player trade post for gems only, if noone sells gems, then there would eventually be no gems to buy there either. That said i still do doubt you will able to buy the specs separately, if you lucky MAYBE there will be a pack with all elite specs but no other HoT content, but most likely the best you can hope for is the whole expansion for gems, and likely not from day 1 if anything like it goes this way
Dont think they current mastery system is anywhere near how the final will work, saw a dev state somewhere that mastery progression in no way will be tied xp gain, but by doing stuff in the world, sorry i am not sure where, but i am sure someone else kept track of it and can provide a proper quote for it
I highly doubt we get access to any more of the map than we got this beta, during the beta before the launch of gw2 you could only play untill lvl 20 (or maybe it was 15 not sure, one of the 2).
And well likely we wont get anymore class/spec content before the actual new trait system is out, as it just works so different it would be a waste of time to put it into the old trait system. Also wouldn’t be surprised it they keep elite specs from us till maybe the very last 1 or 2 betas, again beta of core gw2 you weren’t allowed to play as sylvari or asura, before the last 2 betas (might even only be the last one, again quite long ago :P)
so what is the stat change doing for cele?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: GummiBear.2756
well they get a bit more of everything, but not as much of each individual, so in the end not much change, they will likely be about as much tankier than a full glass as they current are, and about as glassy compared to a full tanky currently. Thus the better you utilise each and every stat of cele the more you gain from the extra stats you get
