For how powerful feedback is when positioned just right, i do believe that it would be a little too strong being able to cast it on yourself
Beside we do have a revive trait that cast feedback over ourselves when we start reviving, any easier placement of it than that would make it too powerful i believe
(And yes i am saying that as one with a mesmer as one of my 2 mains and LOVE using feedback, having it on my bar 90% of the time)
well that beta was obviously a VERY old build, didn’t even have the new trait system, so literally nothing in it will be what we get with HoT in the end
and well the way some of the classes uses the guns, aint exactly traditional ways to use a gun
2. Most people aren’t going to be affected by this problem. It doesn’t affect new characters. It doesn’t affect low level characters below say level 15. And if you’re up around level 60 or more, you already have most of the traits unlocked by then anyway.
So a few people WILL BE inconvenienced by this, and it’s sad that that’s the case. But it’s not going to change, nor should it.
That is certainly your opinion and you’re entitled to it, but it doesn’t match mine. You are correct that the 15’s and below really aren’t affected too much, but I do contend that even the 60’s + are affected when the systems arbitrary assignment of what skills you have doesn’t match what you had before and now you have to build up hero points just to get back to where you were. By the way, they screwed over about kitten levels worth of characters (more than half).
60+ will barely be affected simply by levelling you get every single skill and trait by 80, but if you actually out there and doing herochallenge you will have everything earlier, so by lvl 60 you should have like 90-95% of skills and traits, if not all of it, so that is not his opinions, but strait up fact. And according to a post from the dev (linked earlier in this very topic as well) they chose the solutions that affected least ppl, as there was no solution that would affect absolutely noone
In PvE, if you manage to get your 3 duelists up, with sharper images, and in the future with the non-bugged duelist’s discipline, you can stack massive damage just from the bleeds (in principle, optimally up to 40-50 stacks on your own).
I very much would like to know how you get 40-50 stacks in theory really, the best i can see with it unbugged would be maybe 25-30, in which case if you going for a non-shatter condi you be better off with staff clones tbh, which you not only can get out a LOT faster but also gives you 1-3 stack of burning on top of roughly 25 bleeds, and a few vulnerability.
Zerker, Assassins, Sinister, Rampagers, and so forth
Anything that lacks Toughness, Vitality, or Healing Power is considered Meta in my book as your focused on DPS as much as any Zerker.
Meta is more than just about your gear, but also about your trait setup and what skills and weapons you use. Also imo there is a difference between running meta build because it is meta, and running same build because it happen to be what you find fun, and the fact that it is meta, is just a coincidence
Ok well to start off no one is just running around hit 30k autoattacks. You might be able to create a unique situation where you could get close. Lightning hammer full DPS group might be able to get somewhat close – I’m unsure. But for pretty much every case, those people are wrong.
The other thing is people don’t understand the damage display. There are still people who think each number is how much you just hit for, so let’s say the first 3 swings of 100b says:
4k, 8k, 12k.
People think they are hitting for a total of 24k (4 + 8 + 12), when really they just hit for 12k (4 + 4 + 4). So it’s easy to think you hit for 90k when really you just hit for 30-40k on a 100b.
This pretty much, i dont really get why the games shows that sum of your last couple attacks, cause way more confusion than good, even more fun is it when ppl claims that do condition ticks of 1000+… yeah right…
forum bug?
Anyone care to explain what the deal is with the hammer guard and that trait that is bugged? dont play guard myself, but hear a lot about that “bug”, so kinda curious
Here is a video of a large group in WvW using the bug to take down gates:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nAIZpVcguYHere is a video of 5 guardians doing insane amounts of damage:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wlU76B50hvsHere is a video of an engineer one shotting players in PvP:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqpIY-pz0I4&feature=youtu.be
I already heard a time and time again and guards can do insane dmg with it, and none of those vids show anything more than that, was looking for an explanation of what is going on

Put it on a weapon, max stacks and then switch it out.
False if you swap to a weaponset without the sigil you loose all your stack instantly
Feels about the same as they always have to me
Well, considering they’ve had this system for what, 2 years or more now? if it’s not working for them you would think they would have noticed. My guess is there are a lot of people buying keys.
Oh I’m sure certain people buy them ad nauseam and that they think it’s working well enough, but the point is that they could almost certainly sell way more than they do if they would just tweak the drop rates and/or do less RNG.
And then i wonder what exactly you base that on, unlike you ANet actually have statistics on it, where all you got a empty claims and assumptions with no evidence to back it up, since it hasn’t changed for so long most likely it works a LOT better than you think it does
I don’t think that is bad. You have less power but more of all other stats + a full set of specialization + all your skills. So at the end, you would still beat the actual lvl 2. Going to lvl 2 zones with your lvl 80 characters in the past was not easy, it was trivial, basically one shot everything. I haven’t tried myself but I guess now it is somewhat fun.
Full agree with this, haven’t tested it myself,. but sounds like a good thing to me, have always been ridiculously easy in the lowest zones before, to the point that my condi specced(rabid) mesmer could 1-2 shot mobs… which is just stupid
Its existed for long I’m guessing Anet doesn’t care enough about that one specifically. I agree, it’s likely against the ToS. Why stuff like player radar overlays being used in WvW aren’t dealt with, who knows
Probably more about that i woudl take quite some time and resources on ANets part to investigate and track it, so they need to have a suspension to begin looking into it, would be my geuss
I also can’t make a revenant. I just bought ultimate edition heart of thorns. I don’t know why. There is a beta character slot but I can’t create revenant profession. If someone know tell me how to create the revenant.
thread is 3 months old… and there is no beta up right now, thus you cant make anything in the beta slot…
that’s odd, according to http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mail you should unlock the mail feature at level 6 (though i cant confirm this myself as that restriction did not exist at launch when i was levelling my first character)
That is already there, it is called WvW
you kill something that is stealthed by hitting where they are, it only makes them invisible, NOT invincible, and most stealths only last a few seconds so keep moving around and away from where they stealth, in unpredictable patterns so the stealth run out before they can attack you, and if they use shadow refuge (the only truely long lasting stealth) well kill them by aoeing the refuge before it goes down, or simply push them out of it with some knockbacks, and they be revealed as well… and i could go on and on and on about easy counters… stealth is like the defensive mechanic with the MOST counters, unlike skills that other class have that give invulnerability and the like, only think you can do on that kind of stuff is more or less wait it out
imo not really, just make another character and slap the 2 crafting professions on that character, with 4 characters you can have every single craft active in the game, without spending a single gem on it (heck you can even have every single craft on one char, you would just have to swap the crafts around as you needed then (no idea if there is a cost or cd or something on swapping active crafts though, since i never done it myself)
no idea really, but in the end most of the replies will likely be in the high end here, since the people that go on the forums are typically those that spent a lot of time on the game and thus more likely to have bought a lot of gems, but is in no way indicative of the average amount spent per player. And the fact is, you chose to spent it, you didn’t have to, you could have played this long not spending anything at all, which I am sure there is ppl that have done, but most likely those wont be on these forums and see this thread
i had my 4000 gems when i bought it in the gem store the second i bought it, and the mail with the items as well as the extra char slot and beta slot i got on the next relog (you will get an empty mail initially, and ANOTHER mail after you relog (dunno if it will be there if you relog right away, didnt bother to myself right as i bought it, played a bit on beforehand)
Sure there are less actual combination but as others pointed out there are way more usefull builds now, and also the way it is designed now, allows for them to actually design more powerfull traits since you exclude other traits of same tier, so you can have them both. And again as pointed out earlier too, you actually get to use more total traits than before (with each trait potentially being more powerfull than before as well)
Also it will be FAR FAR easier for new players to understand this system as well
Thief – There was one that made deceptions have a quicker cooldown, that’s gone.
That one still exists actually. It’s an adept trait in Shadow Arts.
For me it’s definetely Ricochet. I know Pistol/Pistol wasn’t strong or anything but Ricochet sure made it fun for me.
Wow really? I must have looked through all the lines 3-4 times and didn’t see it, must double check this later thanks for the info.
I don’t think there is one in SA. The Master Minor makes Stealth skills last longer but doesn’t affect Blinding Powder, Shadowstep, or Smoke Screen. Adept 2, Concealed Defeat, makes Deception abilities recharge faster (along with making a Smoke Screen when downed). But nothing makes all Deception skills last longer that I see.
Ehmm he was asking for one that made deceptions have a shorter cd, not last longer :P
Just my opinion but these type of thing would fit better in a game with asian art style. In GW2 i think it would just look weird. I totally want this in Blade & Soul though.
as part of the body yes you are right, but dont see anything wrong with a headband or something like that with cat ears (or any kind of animal ear for that matter) attached
most likely yes, while ranger is not my most knowledge about profession, i do believe they are lacking a bit in that aspect, and druids are often associated with support/light healing, and a staff goes well with that theme as well
I like how MF is atm. It takes so long to build essence up for me to it’s max. I’m not even done. And I’m sure Artificiers have an even more pain with it.
why would artificers have more of a pain with it? AFAIK the only thing you can craft with luck is mawdrey
Please see this very accurate video recreation of my reaction to this news: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HV_O3BA5e28
So, GummiBear, you say you can enter? How about we team up. I make the emblem, you sneak it past the gate guards and we split the winnings. One of our citizens is the Crown Princess of Denmark now which basically makes us family. Ohana means family. And family means nobody gets left behind, or forgotten.
All in all, though, it is good to hear some of the reasons why this might be case. Even if the end act of not being able to participate is ultimately disappointing.
hehe true true, though the actual splitting of the prizes would be kinda hard though, some of it is actual physical goods, and would cost quite a lot to ship those litterally halfway across the globe, and the ingame stuff would likely be account/char bindings in the way xD. If you are truly interested in it, and got an idea how to split the prizes, send me a PM
Not just southern hemisphere, while I am myself eligible (though i dont think i have the skills to get a chance to win anything, but that is another issue :P), being from Denmark, i noticed that Norway aint in the eligible list, either despite both Denmark and Sweden are there, and those 3 countries are very similar on pretty much everything xD
Norway is not a EU country. They are part of some trade agreements but are not a full member.
And if you read the next post i did after, you would realise i did know this (and I didnt say the 3 countries were identical, only very similar (they are after all 3 countries, not 1 :P))
I doubt they’ll do this. Karma and exp are already easy to come by, and increasing gold find by another 1% is pretty useless when it’s already <1silver most of the time.
Well, how useful is magic find relative to the other account bonuses, honestly? Magic Find doesn’t affect a lot of things.
MF has a profound impact on all drops from foes. Gold Find affects coin, but the amount of direct coin that drops is relatively small, so increasing Gold Find is never going to be that important. And karma is in oversupply for most people who play often; those who don’t play often can build it up fairly quickly through the liquid sources available via a variety of methods.
Further, the results of higher MF can be turned into gold and getting the occasional exotic or better is more exciting than seeing the occasional 5s turned into 6s or 7s.
tl;dr MF is a lot more useful to most people than the other types of account-wide bonuses.
The main problem with MF is that people don’t understand how MF affects drops. The affect isn’t noticeable in any particular short run or farm — it’s something that affects the overall quality of drops in the long run and players (being merely human) have trouble seeing the impact, since we tend to be focused on what’s right in front of us, not what we’ve accumulated over the last 4 weeks compared to a similar month last year.
But it doesn’t affect chest and such, so if you do a lot of world bosses, you get little out of MF, and if you know how you can easily turn karma into gold, so pretty sure if there were a choice, most ppl would go for max karmagain
will revenants be able to use racial skills?
That’s surprisingly good question. The answer should be trivial, but at the moment isn’t. I really believe revenants will be able to swap their skills, even if the set per legend would be more limited than the pool of all skills of other professions. And in that case it would be natural that they could use racial skills. On the other hand the more common view seems to be that their skills are locked in place based on the legends – so.. yeah, that would count out the racial skills. That’s pretty interesting point.
In the last beta at least, they could not (where playing other classes in same beta the racials were there), ofc it was an old build and all, but still the fact that it was even implemented in a beta with no access to them is a bit worrying to me
Yeah the old skill challenge icon were MUCH easier to spot
Can we really call them exceptions when it’s nearly half of the professions in the game?
I think you need to retake math, it is far closer to 25% than 50%, and then that is not even taking into account that some of the exceptions stray further from the norm than the others, thief likely the ones that strays least away, whether engi or ele strays the furthest can be argued, and for engi even depend on your skill setup
My money is on legal reasons, probably they don’t have legal support / worried about specific legal aspects of the country that they know of or might be unware of that could affect them if they opened up to other regions.
The last time I asked about contest stuff I was told it had something to do with import tax or legalities regarding imports. I could be wrong, but I would think it has something to do with our laws
Hmm that would actually make sense, in regards to Norway at least, since they are not part of EU (where as Denmark and Sweden are) so could be import related issues due to that (and the same count count for a vast amount of other countries too then, like Australia
become aware that reflection means you can deal unexpected direct damage at any time. good thing you know when it turns on!
The problem is that it turns on when you activate a skill literally meant for stealth and stealth only. It doesn’t make any sense.
I wish you could say, “Oh I really want it to reflect right now” or “No, I really don’t want it to reflect right now”; but the point is that two mechanics are directly clashing, causing a clunky mash up result that commonly gets you killed—specifically with stomping and ressing.
It’s not that complicated, people
It apparently are too complicated for you, there are 6 different manipulations skills, and only ONE of those stealth you (mirror (okay i admit the reflect part of that trait is kinda wasted on that particular skill since… it part of the skill already), blink, Mimic, Illusion of Life, arcane Thievery and finally the stealth skill in question, mass invisibility, so its not the only time it turns on, and im pretty sure a big amount of memser runs at least blink as well (probably more than run MI), and the amounts of uses blink see due to the low cd compared to MI is gonna be HUGE compared, so really a better fix for your problem would likely be to remove the manip skill type from MI, rather than nerfing MI for 4 skills just to make it better for your one skill, IF anything should be done
If the healing numbers changed to a percentage, it won’t hurt anyone. Classes/gears with large health-pools are the main benefiters of this change. I have a necro with Soldier gear ( PVT ), I’m experiencing a low healing even with vampiric build.
depending on what % it could hurt the low health characters yes, and it most certainly would affect (and potentially (and in fact quite likely for a while untill they get the numbers tweaked) hurt) balance.
Too much of a change imo for far too little gain for the amount of work it would take for ANet
well dont get hit when you are in stealth then.
And saying it doesn’t make sense to get revealed if you reflect something while in stealth… doesn’t make sense (pun intended). Imagine being that ranger you shoot and arrow at an area, and that area turns around and hit you in your own face… you would certainly NOT just turn around and go like “hmm nothing’s there” no you would try and find out what is there, thus you as the reflecter get revealed. And yes my main is a mesmer
An expected response!
The problem is stealth tracking, slow projectiles, and channeled skills.Once you stealth, you have to dodge twice or pop Distortion to give yourself a chance of not revealing yourself due to Necro projectiles or Rangers’ Rapid Fire. That really is a gross misuse of either of those active, skillful defenses in either case.
Also, I’m not going to argue about anecdotal matters. It’s simply not the point of this thread! I’ll rewrite my tl;dr though!
While making it and evade, would certainly solve the one problem your having with stealth reveal would be a pretty serious nerf for people that would actually use it for the actual reflect itself, which would likely be the more common use i guess (but ofc i do not have any actual statistics on it), and again, well RF and the like, well dont use a stealth manip for that and expect to stay in stealth, blink would work just as well for instance, and honestly getting a full RF back in your face for most rangers would be some serious injury, and worth much more than you few seconds of stealth tbh
Would love something like that
well dont get hit when you are in stealth then.

Why do some of you assume Revenant is only getting 4 baseline legends instead of 5?
Each legend provides 3 utility skills.
3*4= 12 utility skills,
Vs
3*5= 15 utility skills. Also elite spec could likely add an additional legend on top of the baseline legends.
Your point is what with those numbers? keep in mind each legend will have its own elite as well, where other classes currently have only 3 , the rev will thus have 4, not to mention you can use those utilities, elites and heals a LOT more often due to almost nonexistent cd, only limiter being the energy system, but still does allow for quite a lot of skill use compared to normal classes
Compared to what? Engineer also no weapon switch. They have kit elite that they can use multiple times.
Hurray you managed to mention 1 of the 3 exceptions (engi (and even then only with certain skills(kits)), ele with their weapon skills via attunements as conjured weapons, and then thief with the initiative system on thief wep skills), out of the games current 8 classes… where what i said holds true for all the other 5 classes
matter of fact they have said that SAB will be back at some point, just no timeline for when, so yes SAB will be bacik
Speculation: Don't let ele spec be warhorn!
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: GummiBear.2756
well consider how hammer works for base revenant, GS for base mesmer, shield for chronomancer etc etc, you cant really assume how a warhorn will for ele (and as for warhorn giving a stationary playstyle? WTF current most of not all classes with warhorn have a swiftness boon on warhorn skills, and likewise there are main hand sword skills on other classes that root you in place… so both warhorn or main hand sword could be very mobile or very stationary

if you want you heals to matter more, use toughness then, to reduce the amount of dmg you take, rather than vit that just give a bigger health pool (or increase your healing power :P)
becasue it would be using the same system to do it for character that are lvl 80, and characters that aren’t level 80, and in the case of the non level 80… well since of the HUGE changes to skills and traits how are the system to determine exactly what you should ahve trained or not here?
Well if it isn’t in yet, it needs to be. The game spent points without my permission, I want to spend them on other things.
No need to as i said earlier you should have a LOT of extra points already at lvl 53 than what the game gave you to make a build the closest possible to what you had before the patch, and you are free to spend them in what order you want, and by lvl 80 at the LATEST you will have EVERYTHING unlocked (and earlier if you do hero challenges)
well kinda obvious they had to do it like that, would have to remake basically half the PS if they wanted to fit it into the new LA (not to mention story wise it wouldnt really make sense as it happens before LA got destroyed and rebuilt)
and no it would not be just a simple copy paste of the terrain and stuff, but every single instance specific NPC would need new spawn points and pathing etc, would be a hell of a lot of work to do
dunno if you can, but shouldn’t really be that needed, unless you lvled up without doing any hero challenges (previously skill challenges) you should by lvl 53 be able to get like 80-90% or so of your skills and specializations unlocked
(by lvl 80 any character can unlock everything without doing any challenges, doing challenges allow you to get it earlier)
you would have to press a few buttons on the UI(the trait/skill part of the UI will look quite a bit different than it does currently) to actually get them, but you should have enough points to unlock them all on a lvl 80 char
