The world in GW2 always felt more like a studio set for a sitcom than an actual world to me.
-Boxed maps that are like individual rooms separated from each other.
-Lighting that looks like spotlights and reflectors.
-Static sky for each boxes that look low and feel more like a ceiling than infinite.
-Wild life that seems to be placed like they’re cardboard props that only moves if you walk too close.
-Static weather unless in very specific time and places.
-Night that look like they only put a filter over the main spotlight.
-Sounds that are over processed and feel fabricated rather than natural
-NPC with megaphone during certain events.
Adding to this their new trend of making maps that work on timer it makes the feeling even stronger.

Amethyst shield!
Why was it even removed?
Now, I understand that the login rewards exist simply to entice people to view the advertisements in the Gem Store
What does login reward have to do with gem store advertisement?
Her Shoeless Majestythe Queen of Waifu Meta said it wont fall; so no worry.

Some achievements that reward a mastery point are ridiculously easy too. Like diving in Tangled Depth, using a Nuhoch wallow in Dragon Stands or gliding below the arches in Tarir.
Just for fun I made a necro/War on gw 1 (doesn’t sound like a good idea for a mix up right) and with no particular build I did quite well, I expected it to flop as I was doing it for fun.
Jump to gw 2 and I joined a mid level fractal with a non meta Druid, just decided to give a new idea a try, and since I wasn’t full damage they told me to switch or go. Probably around this point I decided to quit.
You couldn’t join in endgame content in GW1 without linking your build to the group first. You’d also get kicked if your build wasn’t what the group asked for and you refused to change it.
Fractal is endgame content and likewise, you’re kicked if your build isn’t what the group ask for and you refuse to change it.
Sadly, we cannot save or link builds in GW2 so it’s a big waste of time for everybody. At least we can kick and invite even if the instance is already started; Unlike in GW1. Everyone had to leave the instance so we could remake the group in the outpost and start it again.
No one cares about your build in Open World content. Like no one really cared about it in normal mode story mission in GW1.
Stats, like they’re called in the game.
The reason people don’t invest on passive defense is because GW2 is an Action RPG and passive is an antonym to active.
Passive defense is there because they allows people who aren’t good at the game to also be able to complete every content.
They could make it so which ever of the two daily you do cancel the other.
For example it is currently either Salvage Pit for people who own HoT and Fire Elemental for people who don’t.
If someone with HoT went to do Fire Elemental daily, the Salvage Pit daily would get disabled and, likewise, if they completed Salvage Pit, Fire Elemental daily would get disabled.
This way people could chose the one they prefer doing.
Most people that are active enough to login daily (with the possible exception of alt accounts) will most likely consume at least part of their coins.
I don’t think that is true at all. Many players login every day but have no intention or ambition of crafting a legendary, either because of the cost or the effort (or maybe because of the annoying sound fx!)
Those players just get the daily reward and deposit it just like any other crafting material. MCs will only come to their attention when they overflow their storage, or when they read threads like this.
Mystic Coins are used for a lot more things than legendary. They’re not even a big part of crafting a legendary.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mystic_Coin/Recipe_sheets
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mystic_Coin/OtherIndeed. I log in every day and dont make any of those either.
Good for you.
Astralporing said “most people” for a reason. If most people didn’t use coin they would only cost a few copper, like most things that people do not use. The reason they’re so expensive is because they’re very limited but used for a lot of things.

Every game since the 80’s had [insert whatever mechanic]. Well, GW2 doesn’t.
Hence this tread.
Preventing this now is a bad idea IMO. If it was something that needed fixing they should have fixed it in the first weeks, not nearly 2 years later.
Right now everyone can go do it if they need gold. If it stops now, the people that joined multiloot during the last year will be forever richer and everyone else will be forever poorer with no way to close the gap between them. Right now it’s possible to close that gap by joining multiloot too.
You realize that multi-loot in its current form has only been around since the update earlier this year that made it possible.
I actually didn’t know, sorry. I only started playing again in October and got HoT early November. I thought it was always like this.

“Wintersday is a special event that occurs annually which celebrates the Tyrian New Year according to the Mouvelian calendar and Dynastic Reckoning. It is the celebration of the end of the Season of the Colossus and the beginning of the Season of the Zephyr, decided through the outcome of a battle between the gods, Grenth and Dwayna. During Wintersday, snow covers the lands and the Snowmen and Grentches appear to spread their versions of the celebration across the land, through giving and destroying presents respectively. "
It’s based on Christmas just like Christmas is based on Yuletide which is probably based on something else. Stop being so triggered.
I got GW2 Timers on my phone and I also just started using GW2PAO
Thank you Electro. I had never noticed that.
I still think the disable feature shouldn’t bring it back out until we want it.
it doesnt pull mobs, it doesnt put you in combat unless its set to aggro, it doesnt DO anything just sitting there. no reason to code a whole nother mechanic when the current one does just fine.
It’s not a “whole nother” mechanic since it’s already there. There’s a button to hide your pet. It just come back out anytime you enter combat.
I think what would be more useful is a key to toggle passive/aggressive instead of having to click on it. They could make it so the follow command make our pet passive until we use the attack command and the attack command makes it aggressive until we use the follow command.
Maybe NCSoft is selling publishing rights for that territory to another company.
Edit: yep

Last time I heard of that guy he was quitting Black Desert because it was too hard.
Isn’t that what the Stereoscopic screenshot option is?
Stereoscopic is for 3d view.
What op is referring to is an option during beta that let us take screenshot of 4 time our screen resolution.
There was a bug with it and water (attached image) and I think it was the reason they abandoned it.
I know there’s a program named GeDoSaTo that is very useful for Downsampling because it force any resolution you want while keeping the client to your current screen resolution. I used it a few time with Skyrim, but I don’t know if it works or is allowed to be used with GW2.
And yes, there’s an elite running the raids, I mean, when you see they charge you 250+ Gold for being able to experience content… things are twisted.
I got HoT last week and I’m still only on second act of the story and I know absolutely nothing about raids. Are you saying that if I try to make a raid group right now, some elite will stop me unless I pay them 250g?
I prefer dungeons by far. To me, fractals always felt like a trash bin of idea that didn’t make it as dungeons.
Imo, you all just need your own subforum to post this stuff .
There’s one already. It’s called Fractals, Dungeons & Raids.

The problem isn’t only clipping. Armor textures are all mapped differently for each weight.
If you were to wear a heavy piece at the same time of a light or medium piece, the texture would be all wrong on either or both pieces. You could have stuff like the texture from the top of one armor on the pants the other or pieces textured like skin or even invisible if there’s transparency on one of them.
If they were all mapped the same way or if each individual armor pieces had their own texture file, it wouldn’t be a problem. But the way they are made now it is impossible unless they remade 2/3 of them.
Is it about having other players witnessing the fight that wants you not to do it in the designated game modes or areas?
That’s quite common. Duel obsessed people want two things: to humiliate another player, and to do it in front of an audience.
You’re confusing Duel with PK.
you buy the heroic edition which’ll run you $15-$30, honestly, it’s better to just buy the HoT expansion since it includes core game free and only runs you $5 more.
Where can you get HoT for $20~$35?
My local Gamestop has it for $36, but no copies of ‘Core’ Guild Wars 2, except a Collector’s Edition for $47.
We only have EBgames here and they sell it for $70 CAD ($53 USD). Same price as Amazon and Bestbuy. I could find it cheaper on some websites from other countries but I really don’t want to risk my account that date from 2005 and my credit card with those.
Anyway, I don’t want to hijack OP’s thread with this. I was only curious and apparently Canada has no right to discounted prices.
The cheapest price I can buy it on Amazon is $53USD vs $50USD on GW2 website

Bad design in a game doesn’t excuse bad design in another.
I am finishing game design this year and it is most definitely bad design in my eyes. You’re making select players lose on the narrative for not leveling a class that’s supposed to be for cosmetic purposes only. Effectively you’re excluding 4/5ths of your audience from the narrative that you designed.
With just how much of season 2 of the LS was sylvari centric and with sylvari getting exclusive narrative lines now I am just sure that Anet favour sylvari over anything else.
Bad game design is giving everything to everyone because otherwise it force them to play. Playing is the main point of a game. That idea is maybe good for throwaway mobile games, which is what “game design” classes are about anyway, but it’s horrible for actual games. Especially for RPG.
That said, I agree the story have been way too centered on sylvari. It still doesn’t change the fact that them being the only one able to understand what Mordremoth says is good RPG design.
This is BAD design !
It’s not bad design. It’s actually very good.
This is how RPG usually are. This is how they were before they start trying to catch people like you who hate games.
I understand you want to give this race something unique but this is offensive to the rest of the player base that cares about the story.
If you’re offended then too bad. You can stop anytime.
I don’t wanna be forced to play a sylvari to actually get the full experience and intent of the story !!!
I do NOT want to be forced to play a sylvari to hear this amazing actor’s work as mordremoth ! and NEITHER should anyone else !!!
This is exactly what bad design is.
“Give me everything because I don’t want to play X or Y”
If you don’t want to play video game, go do something else than play video games.
If it’s RPG you dislike, go play something else.
Define “skimpy,” please. It wouldn’t look right seeing a male thief running around in a YMCA outfit, for example. The barbarian look for heavy armored males at least makes sense. The female options, though they can be revealing, at least fit the aesthetics of the game. Declaring something or someone to be sexist does not prove a point.
Sexism is
prejudice, stereotyping, or discrimination, on the basis of sex.
Saying that men should only wear certain outfit is sexism. No matter how hard you try to deny it.
What is a YMCA outfit? Unless you mean the costumes Village People wore?
That would be stupid. Other than the cowboy, none of them fit the game theme at all.
A man wearing women’s clothing is actually contrary to natural law. Natural law doesn’t change to fit our disordered appetites.
Clothes themselves are contrary to natural law.
It would be great if more mobs went in downed state and could get rallied by their ally.
Oh Festive Faren! What did you do?!?!
I’d rather have silk (and other clothes) stay useful and pricey instead of becoming another trash like mithril and leather.
How does one craft a Gift of Color for Bifrost now?
It cost about 100gold to buy them directly so it’s not that bad.
Also the NPE personal story reward bags often drop unidentified dyes.
When I made my Bifrost last month I had 15 of them gathered from playing my personal story (Forging the pact and onward) on ranger and necromancer so I only needed to buy 85.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Racoon
The racoon looks way better, and it’s much, much older.
It’s funny because they could have just recolored that texture and do very minimal change and it would have looked better.
“Rifle” is shown in the english version, just put Rifle in search and order by price.
That helps. I tried to translate the German and it just said gun.
Here is one. https://www.gw2tp.com/item/37492-rifle?full=1 at 42 gold. Whatever it is, it’s very rare. Only 2 in the trading post. There has been a sudden increase in price, from 7 gold to 42.
Those have always been there. They don’t drop anymore or something, this is why they’re so high. There’s one for every weapon of the game.

is stacking and mashing buttons any better than holy trinity?
Yes it is. Because you’re not forced to do it.
In trinity game you’re forced into tank and spank which is almost the same but without having to get good.
The dungeon paths are, normally, played in a very, very dull way and even the “everyone is welcome” groups tend to be run by would-be “trainers” of new players, just to get them all trained-up for the skip>stack>melee boredom train.
And in WoW every single dungeon is the same tank & spank boredom train.
GW2 =/= WOW

Could they not have changed the headgear to goggles and made everyone look like they are driving a car?
The joke is a plane, not a car.
Tragedies happen everyday you can relate any tragedy to video game content. It’s just that the media decided to cover the plane tragedy extensively that everyone knows about it. I don’t know how you people get by in your daily lives if something that lasts a day in a video game provokes anger out of you
When 9/11 happened, Konami reworked the entire ending sequence of Metal Gear Solid 2 to avoid references to the Twin Towers.
A week after a mass murder by airplane, Anet could have not had an April fools where you get victory music for crashing and dying.
Timing is a key part of comedy, but it seems Anet have no understanding of timing, nor tact.
A lot of their white knights here on the forums appear to have no understanding of empathy either.
If you had empathy you wouldn’t be associating a joke about a bug from the beta to a plane crash that you will have forgotten about in 2 or 3 weeks.
Citation needed.
“You should 100% NEVER force your players to engage in something that is a temporary event, specifically for a holiday, unless they want to.” -Dragon.8612
Personally, I had a good time running around. I remember when having airplane arms was an infrequent bug, and now they turned it into an April Fool joke. Even added sound effects and aviator helmet.
It was one of the funniest bug during beta.
