I just started leveling a ranger and I’m bored. Why? because 1111111.
That’s actually not different from lv 80.
That poor cow will now be able to breath between two meal
In a living game world, there IS NO END GAME. END GAME, just means that, end of game.
End Game means max level content. Not the “end of the game”.
MMO used to be about the leveling process more than max level. Being max level was pretty much the goal and in a way the end of the game. Newer MMO trivialized the leveling process because lazy casuals wanted to be powerful like the max levels but without spending the same amount of time and effort.
So now we get max level in no time but have nothing to do because the game was about leveling, but they removed that part. So the devs have to make what we know as “end game content”. Content for when we’re done leveling.
We resurrect where we died and don’t even lose progress on the fight. That’s easier than the easy mode of any other games.
And there are those that want that others don’t get shinies .. and that are those i have
a problem with.Say ANet brings out 6 new armor sets per year .. but 4 of them are only for the 1%
that can solo Arah naked with a white level 5 weapon .. would that be good for
the game ?
And there are those that want that others don’t get shinies because they refuse to put the effort into getting these shinies themselves.
I’ll ask you too. Can you please give me your items?
I want to just sit in Queensdale and watch the sky and I think it’s unfair that you can get items from doing stuff while I don’t get anything.
There are those that play GW2 because they want to be a part of a community. Then those that play just to try and be above them. This game has way too many players trying to divide the community. Anet should not enable them in dividing the community.
People play games because they are game. If you play game for any other reason than because it’s a game then it’s your own fault you don’t feel in your place.
The issue here is that “hard” content gets solved by the good players, then they spend months farming that hard content while casuals either can’t or simply don’t want to do it. Which goes back to the upper and lower class problem.
I just want to sit in Queensdale and look at the sky and I think it’s unfair that you get items from killing stuff while I don’t. Please give me your items.
Here’s a bit of a history lesson. When you scare away your casuals, your RP, and your open world PVE players almost all you’re left with is the hardcore players and the terrible cookie cutter grinders. That’s it.
So which one of those are you? The terrible cookie cutter grinder or the hardcore player?
I really don’t understand why this is even a debate. More challenging content should = higher rewards, less challenging content should = lesser rewards. It’s such a basic concept, anyone who is defending the current reward structure (which for whatever reason relies heavily on RNG for the more challenging content in the game, FoTM/Aether path/Teq/Wurm) is straight up stupid.
Why though? To make it ‘worth it’?
We’d be wrong to conflate ‘what we’re used to’ with ‘the best way to do it’.
Yes. It’s a bigger challenge, it’s just logical that the reward go accordingly.
What is even the point to create a challenge if there’s no reward to hide behind it?
What is the “best way to do it” you’re talking about?
That looks like Order of Whisper armor.
I’m firmly convinced that low player participation in Fractals and Aether Path has left Anet feeling that the vast majority of players have no interest in doing that content.
I’m firmly convinced that if their communication with players wasn’t limited to doing “teehee” on reddit and twitter, they would know WHY people don’t have interest in doing these things.
it easy to tell.
Not really. How does this mean heal?
-Click skill
-Green numbers appears over your head and hp is refilling
-Character say a variation of “Help Me” out loud for nearby people to hear
I wonder
(edited by Haishao.6851)
Then we’re back at it separating community into haves small minority and have-nots majority. If this is the kind of endgame we’re talking about, then no, i’d rather not have any more of it in this game.
People who do things will always have more than people who don’t. And it’s only logical that people who achieve harder content get better reward.
There’s no other kind of endgame than more content to play. Harder and diverse content will always be needed because people get better the more they play. This is inevitable.
Is mistfire wolf reportable?
What possible reason is there for making this aspect worse by making us have to do more math in our heads ?
Goldsink from the kind of people that sells 1 copper above what merchant would buy.
Now I need a calculator to actually see how much money I will get in my hand when selling items?
This specific feature doesn’t sound like an update, more like a downdate. Other things with the Trading Post update are actually updates
You always had to calculate it. Before this update the 10% tax that is taken when the item actually sell wasn’t showing. It just displayed the listing fee which is 5%
Now it show both but doesn’t do the total.
use this http://tpcalc.com
It’s not a new feature, just a more connected UI.
This is exactly how I feel about the whole “Feature Pack”
How does one …. steal from their own franchise?
This.
@
Also,Guild Wars is called Guild Wars because of the lore, not because of GvG.@
Just imagine if they started a brand new lore in GW2 and it had nothing to do with GW1.“OMG WHY ARENT WE KILLING DAT DRAGON FROM EOTN ENDING CUTSCENE???? ARENANET IS LITERALLY HITLER "
10/10 post
would read again
They tried that with the first season of Living Story, where the badguy wasn’t a dragon but a crazed Sylvari. And people went nuts over that, complaining that they wanted to fight a dragon. Now Anet introduced a new dragon, and people are complaining that they have to fight a dragon.
Have you been paying any attention to the game the past year?
I didn’t play the first season and really didn’t pay any attention to it other than watching the trailers on youtube when they were released.
People hated Scarlet is because she was a bad villain. A super genius evil salad teen clown girl that posses an army and all the riches of the world comes out of no where with no real plans or motivation and you must eliminate her because.
Guild Wars lore already have good villains and some of them could even easily be brought back. There’s really no reason to create new one that arrives out of no where and are suddenly a big threat only because an npc that also came out of no where said so.. When people say Anet should have used dragons instead of scarlet, they meant the one that are already there and waiting for the devs to do something with them.
Meh, it’s kind of the thing heroes do. Look at commander Shepard in Mass Effect. That’s what he did too, bring races together to fight a common big bad.
Yes…. i agree.
Even in Dragon Age they always fight the same guys.
But for god sakes they write different storys.
And i actually turned it on again after not playing it for years.
It was super refreshing how much fun a game can be and how well the storys are told.
But this is another topicA dragon didn’t pop up in GW1, no one in lore told the player about a elder dragon. We didn’t fight a dragon.
lol what ????
Have you ever played Eye of the North ??
The dwarf chamber ? The great Destroyer ???Yes it’s not Primordus but it’s still a Dragon
Its not a dragon its a destroyer
Your are telling me this is not a Dragon ??
yup
The Great Destroyer was the champion of Primordus. Just like Teqalt is the champion of Zaithan and Shatterer the champion of Kralkatorik.
Also he had the look of a dragon.!http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/5/56/The_Great_Destroyer.jpg!
Still not a dragon
Then Primordus isn’t a dragon either.
We also fought:
A crazy pumpkin king
A crazy Sylvari
Provocatively-cast metal knights
A marionette
Where can we fight those?

You must however give the player some feedback on why they died.
Ok, your right. Whenever this happend ANet should write into the battle-log: “You got 1-hitted, because your lousy armor wasn’t able to reduce the damage below your lousy amount of life. To avoid such situations in the future, increase your Toughness and vitality.”
The issue is that his rush attack touch people even if they are far away from it.
It’s an issue with the “collision box” of the attack and has absolutely nothing to do with whether it one shot people or not.
It obviously have nothing to do with what armor people are wearing so please stop trying to derail the thread.
If we could extract ecto out of low level gear their price would drop to about 1 silver, making your idea pointless.
Make sure you’re both in the same region if you want to play together. If you’re in NA and your friend chose EU to be on one of the FR servers, You won’t be able to play together.
While most of us take it as a given that every player knows what to do at the down state, it was never explained ingame what to do when downed.
You’re on your butt with 4 skills. What do you do?
1) Call your mom
2) Click a button to see what happen
3) Uninstall.exe
I bet a monkey would figure it out on his own.
For gamers definitely not. For Anet and NCsoft most likely yes.
LS is very low cost development that keeps the game just alive enough to make profit from the cash shop.
Do you guys think that there’s a middle ground between ultra hard and easy?
For example, I think we could clean up some of the issues with the Shatterer and just make it a more engaging experience. So rather than spending the entire fight hiding under his right paw he could, say, turn his head and attack that area? :] It doesn’t have to be hard, just a little more involved.
We tried to put in a few changes here and there when we added the new world boss timers. Reactions varied.
What if after some beating on his right foot, he shattered into 8 facets that are smaller, more mobile version of himself with mechanics similar to each of the 8 classes. Like the facets in The Dragon’s Lair mission in GW1.
It’s probably more complicated to do than just turning his head toward the 1 place everyone stand but it sounds much more like a game mechanic than a bandaid.
As I already said, skins are the main goal in this game.
Having fun is the goal of every game ever created…
Let me know when you decide which argument you want to make. Is GW2 supposed to be fun or about skins.
Ok, how to build a game 101, just for you.
If you want people to buy your game, you have to present what you can do in the game: “Hey folks, if you play my game, you can hunt for epic skins and you don’t have to heavily grind for them”.
You want the player to be engage for a long time, so you have to implement time gates, so people don’t simply rush your content and you have to create enough goals.
ANet has declared skins as their main goal. You hunt for them all the time. Precursors are just skins, yet they are the most coveted items.
Skin hunting creates fun. That’s the main assumption of this game.No. The living world and trying to make PvP into an esport are the main goals now. Skins are just there if you want/like them. Same as collecting mini pets. You set your own goals. If hunting skins is yours then great. You will pay way more for the 2 skins you’d get from making Sunrise for example, than you would getting BLC skins from the TP.
And the reward for pvp is an armor skin and every LS steps reward you with item used to make a back item skin.
Sorry, I’ll link my post here rather than repeat it all.
But, to put it bluntly, this is an idea which is going to crash headlong into the mountains of Karma older players amassed back when it was the easiest way to gear yourself with good Exotic armor. (And, notably, it still is . . . )
Karma prices are static. Back in august 2012 the temple armors were 42,000karma a piece just like they are today. They are just as hard to get for a new comer as they were to us when we started.
Actually they were even harder to get because karma was bound to our character and couldn’t be traded through our account. If I wanted a karma armor for a specific character, I had to for farm the karma with that character.
Wouldn’t call the light one hideous. It’s one of the best looking light armor if you don’t care about kittenwear or flames.
The light version of the “commando’s armor” in personal story is the crafted Embroidered outfit, which is kind of ridiculous. It should be apostle and I’m sad it’s not.
We also get an “army badge” that is a heart pin earring a few quest later.
Bone weighting gone wrong.
We do know what’s in development. Living World Story.
This game has made almost as much money in two years as Guild Wars 1 did in it’s first six.
Casinos make more money than Arcades too.
Two different games run by two different companies… they are not sharing any kinda profits. the connection to NCSoft doesn’t mean anything except that BOTH games generate revenue to NCSoft. You should read up on how Publishing Companies work.
“They are not sharing profit”
“BOTH Generate revenue to NCSoft”
“They connection to ncsoft means nothing”
Publishers invest money into a studio to make a game which generate profit that they can then invest in another game to generate more profit to invest in more games.
Sorry, I didn’t buy this game to have to be bothered with duel options in this game, if you want to duel then go play counter strike or poker. Why should I have to be bothered with a check options in the settings??? Wouldn’t it be annoying to have a pve option check? Same thing. As for costume brawls..that is completely different from duels because NO HEALTH BARS ARE BEING USED. I don’t want to see players spamming boons and conditions on each other in lions arch, its annoying. Pls do not implement duels, there is no reason for it because I wouldn’t use it
We could also say that if you don’t want other people using skills around you then go play a single player game.
Also, the option would most likely be set to “refuse duel request” by default. Arenanet knows that a big part of the playerbase are confused by simple check box as proven with the chat options introduced with mega server.
Anyway Arenanet only add things if they can attach goldsink to them. So instead of an evil checkbox in your option menu, it would most likely be a 100 gold item we’d have to buy like for belcher’s bluff.
(edited by Haishao.6851)
If arena-net added easy farming options I wouldnt care.
I just personally inherently disagree with abusing event mechanics to get easy loot.
idgaf how fast you get money. I just expect events to work as intended, and for the players to respect their intended function.
Events have 4 states. in Waiting, in Action, in Success or in Failure. Two of those states have a reward attached to them. All states are part of the system and they are all as legitimate as the other.
Telling people they are exploiting because they think it’s more profitable to fail an event that to succeed it is the same as saying you’re exploiting because you think succeeding an event is more profitable than letting it fail.
Failed State IS an intended function. When it is not, it vanish. Like all the events in Dry Top for example.
If you seriously want dueling, ask ANet to set up specific arenas either in the Mists or LA or something, but keep it out of PvE please. An auto-decline option is not enough to keep the harassment away from people who just want to play the game.
Do people harass you with Belcher’s Bluff and Costume Brawl?
This really needs to get fixed
do not alter the way WoR works, the right and easy fix would be to make the Lupi wall non targetable (with invisible walls in front of it)
it would take roughly 10-15 mins of dev time, but it’s worth it, this exploit ruins the fun of the whole lupi fight
Stop doing that and fight him differently if it ruins your fun.
We also have belcher’s bluff.
Someone please play this.
Give me 100 gold and i’ll play.
No, I wouldn’t like to compete with my friends in PvE. But thanks for asking. lol
Every time this thread comes up, more people are against it than for it. Which would make it not an essential feature in my book.
This.
just set up a custom arena and fight your friends there.
Oh really? o.O
So paying? yeaaaaOpen the game menu and you’ll see that there are tons of empty arenas without passwords. Just step in one of those…or one of the many arenas that people specifically set up for dueling.
The idea of duel is not having to organize an arena or have to teleport somewhere else just for having fun with people.
When I’m fooling around with my friend, we’re not gonna go create an arena and leave the area we’re in just to give eachother a few hits and then go back. It’s stupid to think we’d even consider doing that. It turns what is supposed to just be fun into something trying to be serious. That’s the opposite of fun.
Just a note, costume brawls both require you to have a gemstore item and accept on your own.
There are no duel prompts, the combat system uses a completely different ‘damage’ system, and you can only interact with people already in the mode. you can also leave the mode at any time.I’m pretty sure this isn’t what you guys want.
Costume Brawl is a fun mini game but it’s nothing like duel. It’s not our skills, not our stats, not our class, not our weapons. And like you said, the items required for it are account bound and locked behind goldsink and lottery box.

I wanted the legging too and thought it was from some obscure karma vendor or crafted set and spend almost 2 hours trying to find it until I finally check the wiki to learn it isn’t even available. It’s the only normal looking outfit that isn’t open in the front and I was very disappointed it’s not in the game.
They remove sets like this and and at the same time reward for personal story lv 78 to 80 are embroidered skins renamed as “commando’s”
those are most likely a character your computer cannot display
I think it must be something like a dot such as •
It’s probably due to your language settings or something like that.
(edited by Haishao.6851)
I feel like everything is too quick in GW2. They spent 5 years building a beautiful world like no other, but at the same time put everything in place to make sure you see all of it in less than a month or two. Of course we can take our time, but nothing is built in a way to make us want or need to take our time.
From leveling up, to events and to player interaction, everything feel ephemeral and too quick.
There’s also no sense and no need for community. This could be an offline game with multiplayer option and it would work as well.
Ever since Beta I call it an Arcade MMO. And I still feel that way. Kind of MMO you put a coin in and play for an hour or two then leave for a month.
GW2 is certainly not an MMO for MMO player.
(edited by Haishao.6851)
I prefer sexy than skimpy but I also very much prefer cute over sexy.
I wish Aion team would design and model a few armor sets for GW2
But then those activities wouldn’t be special anymore when holiday come back.
They should develop more permanent activities, but I think holiday one need to stay exclusive to holiday.
GW2 most likely have GM. What it doesn’t have is Babysitter, which seem to be what you are asking for.
Best GM are the one who do their work and that you never see. Not Babysitters sitting in town with their groopies and never doing anything relevant other than listening to mouth breather complains and sorting baby’s drama.
So can you tell me how i managed to play WoW for over 3 years if i have a “console gamer” mentality?
What did you do for 3 years in WoW?
You’re here crying that this game is dying, yet you pride yourself for playing 3 years of the game that killed the genre for MMORPG players.
