Why change dye from account to character only?

@OP : Because they figured they could sell dyes in their cash shop.
Making Money > Catering to Players

This guy got the right answer.

Let me requote myself

The dyes you can buy with gems are the same you can buy, find, craft in game.
You can’t even know what you’ll get. So there’s even big chance that you spend money to buy dyes and get some that you already have or are worth nothing more than a few copper on TP.

Whats funny is that with the old method, there were supposed to have palettes that are only exclusively available on Gemstore and nowhere else. But that was fine right?

Selling dye packs that give your random dyes that drop in game is because they want your money though.

The worst thing about the armor is that it’s only RARE. If we’re going to shell out that crazy amount of gold, it should be Exotic at LEAST.

It’s used for look anyway so it really doesn’t matter.
You cannot even chose stats of it so even if it was exotic, there would be good chance that it wouldn’t be the stats you want.

I don’t care if other nationalities join the servers. bothers me not one bit. But when they speak in something other than english they must realize that most people cannot understand what they are saying.

This is so typical.

Here’s something YOU need to realize. No one care if you don’t understand.
If someone speak in a language that you don’t understand, they are not talking to you. Simple as that.
If a guild is advertising in Italian, they don’t give a kitten if non Italian speaking people understand or not because they are asking to people who speak and understand Italian only.

This thread is a real proof that people want everything handed to them for free.

Dye drop in game quite frequently. They can be crafted. They are very cheap on the TP and they have infinite use.

Yet people demand more again.

This is getting close to when people demanded that explored map would become explored for our account in GW1.

Playing how I want (funny story)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Haishao.6851

Haishao.6851

They said you could play the way you want, they never said the way you want to play would be the most effective.

If I decide to make a character that never kills anything, I can.
If I decide to only do 1 event ever, I can
If I decide to level up only by reviving people I can
If I want to only pvp from lv 1 to 80 and never go play anything else, I can
If I decide that my character is afraid to leave the lv 1~15 zone and only play there forever, I can.
If I decide to walk everywhere instead of using the waypoint, I can.

Are these effective? maybe yes, maybe not. But I still can do it.

My opinion: Home instances don't currently feel like home.

I wish they had more meaning and an actual (non forced) reason to go there other than for personal story.
I wish there were things that would make me want to go there. But only having like 5 merchants that sells things you can buy everywhere, NPCs you cannot talk to, no storage, no crafting tables or anything.

I think there should be a small garden where we could make plant or tree grow. They could even reintroduce the “dye seeds” but instead of being for dye it would be to put in our garden, and after 24 hours we have a rarer plant or tree to gather.

I also mentioned a school during BWE when people said the tutorial wasn’t very helpful. There could be a school with teachers who explain us the functionality of everything, like they often have in RPGs. And a “dojo” where we could test our skills and dodges, conditions and boons and everythings like that. This would be a good way to make a non forced tutorial by also giving us a reason to go in our home instance.

They really need to make us want to go in our home instance. Right now, I never have a reason to go there unless I’m forced to.

Cultural Armor price

So why is Cultural armor over 100+ gold, when Vigil armor is only around 7 gold?

So that people still have cheap armor they can buy instead of crying that certain armor are too expensive for them? Because they are not created for particular races and are more in line with normal armor? Because they are part of you solo personal story and not high cost end game outfit for people who want to put the time getting it?

Yes cultural armor are more expensive than other armor. But they are still so cheap that you can get them in under a month instead of a years like they really should.

People do enjoy amassing money to get these expensive armor. Maybe you don’t and That’s your right. This is why there are less expensive stuff like vigil armor, or tier 1 and 2 cultural armor which are about 3 and 6 gold respectively.

They are rather expensive for just rares. If they were exotic, sure I would understand. But for just being rares, not even max armor, then they are overpriced.

I know people are going to say they are cosmetic and meant to be hard to get, but they have stats. If they were just cosmetic, they would just be skins. They wouldn’t have stats on them. So to me, they are regular gear. Way overpriced non-max regular gear.

But even with stats they are not regular armor. They are armor style that you cannot get anywhere else. Not only that, but they are also restricted to your race. So they are nothing like regular armor. The stats are only a bonus since maybe you wont need to transmute them right away. You get cultural armor for the look only. There’s no other reason to buy cultural armor than for their look. If I wanted the stats instead of the look I would have spent 40 silver on TP instead of 6 gold on npc.

I bought sylvari cultural tier 2 for my necro as soon as I became 60. I was thinking of mixing it with tier 1 at first to reduce the cost, but then I realized it wasn’t really that expensive afterall so the only thing I didn’t buy was the hat and shoulder.

shoulder are invisible on it anyway so anything else do the work. and I use the default necro face mask look that I transmute into better stated outfit as I level up

The problem Haishao is they make the things that take a little more time to get, not fun to get. In Guild Wars, it was fun to get those things that take a little more time. They knew how they set it up in Guild Wars, so why did they do something totally different in this game? Something that follows what many MMO’s do. They did it right with Guild Wars, why change it?

Dunno. FoW and Vabbi armor weren’t something you could get in the first month after game releases.
Dungeons armor are basically that. Just that now there are more than only 2.

So I am just supposed to ignore the dungeon gear like it doesn’t exist? Am i supposed to do the same for the legendary gear? You have to grind to get that stuff..

If you want them you get them and If you don’t think it worth your time, you ignore them. Simple as that.
It’s like this for everything, ever.

So I should ignore the only meaningful reward because I don’t want to put hundreds of hours into getting it?

It’s not very meaningful if you don’t even want to put the effort to get it.
You just sound like you want everything handed to you right away.
I don’t understand how can you even expect that you should have one of these armor less than a month after the game released.

I bought a cultural armor on my sylvari not long ago. When the game released, it was something I thought I would maybe be able to afford in a few months. but a few days was enough.

This game really already make everything super easy. So I’m glad that some things take a little more time. Even if it actually should be even harder to get. I was expecting to play GW2 for a few years, not only a few weeks.

You make about 1 gold every 3 level around lv 40 and waypoint only start costing 1silver at lv 50+ So either you spend all your money on things you don’t need, and seeing how cheap everything is on TP you probably buy more than you’ll ever need in your lifetime.

Or you afk farm events in lv 1~15 zone and expect that it will make you rich.

The later is more probable.

DMG vs Weapoin Strength

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Haishao.6851

Haishao.6851

I can’t think of any MMORPG that has damage type or elemental damage type on weapons.

Elemental damage is generally done thru being a practitioner of that elemental school of magic.

To a degree ANet does buck the damage type trend in that the conditions your weapons apply seem to be flavored around weapon type, but it is dynamic (based around using the skill) as opposed to passive.

Introducing this is tough as you would have to include damage type immunities/vulnerabilities to mobs which would just become problematic.

GW1 had that.
Sword, axes and scythes did slashing damage, bow and spears did piercing damage, dagger did either slashing or piercing, Hammer did blunt.

Staves and wands had elemental damage. Fire, Cold, Lightning, Earth, Dark, Holy and Chaos.

Attacking with any weapons that wasn’t a wand or staff did physical damage. You could add upgrade to weapon to make them elemental except for chaos which was exclusive to wands and staves.

You could also make armor that defended against direct physical damage or physical damage type (slashing, piercing or blunt) or any type of elements except chaos.

It wasn’t problematic in GW1. It’s actually one of the thing that made it great.

currently using fire magic for example doesn’t do fire damage. It only do damage. You can even kill destroyer with fire. You only cannot make them burn. Because burning is a condition so they can block it, but fire isn’t a damage type, it’s just the same damage type you can do with a sword, with a different visual.

@Premixed Firstly, it’s something a lot of people a accustomed to especially with a Thief type class as mobility is the key. Being able to get skills of quickly is a great advantage that the Thief has. And secondly, I’m the consumer, it might sound self-entitled but it’s true. I’m the consumer and I purchased not only a game, but a promised service as well. I shouldn’t have to alter my play style simply because they don’t want to change something that can easily be rectified in a small patch.

Skills always queued in GW.
You cannot have one play style from a game and expect it to work the same way in completely different games.

Also, you are not “the” customer but only “one” customer, among million. If you were “the” customer, you would have paid for my copy, and I can assure you that you didn’t.

Duel would be very fun as long as there an “Auto Ignore duel request” option of some sort. Because I agree that when you’re busy doing something and a kitten is spamming you with duel request, it’s annoying.

But duel are fun none the less.

I don’t care for Arena since I don’t really pvp. But I’m all for them anyway.
Also, people like that one above saying to go play WoW. GW1 had arenas and GvG even before WoW. Blizzard got inspiration from GW’s arenas to make their.
I remember when WoW announced their Arenas, we were comparing them to GvG on GWguru.

You can actually get out of ranged attack by just kiting. You have to move when the projectile is already in the air, not as they shoot it. And since some projectile have a bigger hit radius and/or move faster, some are harder than other to evade. I find that arrow are the easiest. Ooze and grub spit too if you keep your distance enough to have the time to move far enough. The further your are the easier it is.

Yes, every zone is instanced off with mountains separating it because the other zones are impossible to walk to. It does take away from the visceralness

Just to make sure this point is made clear, since i don’t think some people get it.

It’s not disappointing and a bit lame, that all the areas are surrounded by mountains on all sides, that’s understandable. What’s pitiable is that, if you look at every zone, each one is shaped like a rectangle, in some patchwork way of putting the world together.

It’s just a bit odd, but like i’ve already said, it’s only VERY minor, but the complaint exists non the less.

Yes, If you look at a fully explored GW1 map, All zone were also surrounded by mountains, but except for a few, they didn’t look very square and the world looked more organic than GW2 from a map point of view.

If you never played GW1 you probably cannot even tell where a map start or end.
