None. Never seen it. Never seen a celestial. Never seen a midnight.
All I get are olive drab and beige-y dyes.
It’s really fun.
I don’t hate it but I don’t have much reason to go there either besides Omnomberries and Orrian Truffle. Even those two aren’t much of a draw since I don’t really use food.
It is a shame such an awesome craft as cooking is left to languish.
It’s not even worth going to Orr for omnomberries any more. It’s far less frustration to just buy what you need then to go there – that’s if you can get there as every WP is always contested anyway.
They need to give the whole zone to an intern or something and let them fix it so it’s fun, not a chore. The changes patches ago did make it better, but it still needs attention. The area debuffs definitely need to go.
April’s monthly is a nightmare.
I don’t do WvW or fractals, and I’m not getting credit for jumping puzzles, except the first one I did, so I have no choice but to do the audio logs if I want to complete the monthly.
There is nothing fun about running around all those maps getting audio logs, trust me. If your JP’s are bugged, April’s monthly is nothing but a long chore that will take all month.
Think of the monthly as a nice perk for those who enjoy WvW. You get to complete it in hours/days.
The PvE players, it takes quite a bit longer.
Well I’m 50. What some of you “younger” players forget is we older players have a lot more disposable income to pour in to gaming.
Ahh! That is so true.
This current Adventure Box isn’t my type of thing. I played it for an hour or so, on infantile mode, which was rather insulting.
Easy – Level 1 – Rung 0 – Mode Easy – Basic – Adventure Lite – Effortless – Painless – Snap Mode – Friendly – Pushover – Gentle – Yielding – Smooth – Accessible
Out of all the adjectives in the world that could have been used, Anet chose INFANTILE?
Seriously Anet, way to make your players who are not good at jumping puzzles, or other aspects of game play feel like crap. I just wanted to go in and check it out, see what was up, see what all the fuss was about. Not only do I play on infantile mode, but I get achievements for “Baby’s First Super Adventure”.
While I did get a Zelda Link to the Past vibe smashing pots for baubles instead of rupies playing a mini game on a mode Anet basically is saying is for babies and calling me, a paying, playing customer a baby for playing on that mode was insulting. I’m probably twice the age of the people who programmed the mini game and they name it “infantile” mode and give me “Baby” named achievements.
I do appreciate there is new content, the retro, the whimsical aspect, the fun they are injecting, the effort put forth and the fact they are obviously trying to create fun, new content for all the players. And I’m happy players are having fun. It’s good for the game and player retention. But whoever chose “infantile” and “baby” needs to have a meeting with a superior and a serious talking to.
I’ll skip this content, because it’s not my thing, and go take my Geritol.
Boss chest = 1 time per character, per day, per boss.
Bonus chest (dancing one over your minimap) = 1 time per day, per boss.
No, boss chest, big one everyone loots from is 1 time per character per day, per boss.
Bonus chest is 1 time per day per account, regardless of which boss you do or what character you use. You’ll only get the bonus chest (that shakes like the daily in the bottom right corner) once per day per account not per boss.
Since this last patch, forums.
I’m bored in game. Yeah, I can do my daily, but I’m not a laurel chaser, if I earn some, awesome! if I don’t, eh, that’s ok too.
I have the second half of F&F story to do, and then not much else.
The only other thing I’m doing is working from a list I found online to discover/learn through bought recipes – all the cooking recipes in the game. I just wish cooking had more of a use and the items were desired by other players.
The cooking profession is so well thought out and so intricate. So much detail and all players want from 100’s of recipes are the omnomberry bars. Shame.
Stuff that requires dodging:
The harder PvE events (e.g. Temple events in Orr)
All Dungeons
As a guild we do Orr temples semi-regularly.
I’ve done most dungeons. Spent a lot of time in TA for 2 guildies to get full sets of gear CoF of course, and others.
I’ve never dodged. And no, I wasn’t or am not dead most the time either.
I never use it.
..to think like a player and design around fun game play.
Not think like a business man and design around, “how can we make money from this”.
They have a brand new 12 boss raid…what do we have?? Banging some fences in the snow and npcs we could care less for…
I want to play GW2, and I do like the game.
The only thing the Living Story has going for it is it can be completed solo. I agree that as a player we don’t feel like we have any vested interest into why we are doing what we are doing with the Dredge etc. but at least it’s not raid content.
Fractals – zero interest. That is why I left that other game, to get away from mandatory instances and raids. No thanks.
I agree with the tone of your post, that as players we simply need fun stuff to do.
I don’t agree with what you consider fun, and you probably wouldn’t agree with what I would consider fun.
But in the end, yes, this game is in desperate need of fun content. And raids and dungeons aren’t the only way to implement that.
It doesn’t matter how fast the game sold.
Or how many copies the game sold.
Or if it was the fastest selling MMO ever.
What matters is how many people are playing the game, logging in on a semi daily basis and actually contributing to their guild and playing the content.
I used to see obscure places with people all over. Now I do see empty maps. I see empty cities for certain.
I see huge turn over in my guild. All the people who used to play, stopped playing and we just keep adding new players to the guild – who eventually disappear too. Which is probably what Anet wants. First thing a new player will do is buy some gems to expand character bag slots and maybe a bank slot or two. The people who have already quit have already spent their money.
I’m not seeing player retention, just player turn over.
I worked hard for my title. you’re going to look at it and you are going to like it.
/thread
As a player I could care less about your titles.
There needs to be a toggle option to turn on/off player titles and it needs to be off by default.
A player should have to deliberately choose to show them, not the other way around.
Well, now instead of people looking and saying, “oh the xx dragon is going to spawn in 30 mins, I’ll hang around and do that event” and having players online, it will be “oh the xx dragon event isn’t for another hour (or longer), meh, I have other things to do” logs off
I don’t need a gold sink just a way to get my precursors of choice without depending on pure chance. Making legendaries is gold sink enough and making a legendary for each weapon slot and favored alt(s) adds up. More inspiring legendary skins too please. At the moment it doesn’t seem I will ever get a precursor or one that I want.
There is a way to get your precursor of choice…..it’s called the Black Lion Trading Company.
You can go on there, search for the item you want, then buy it from someone that has one, but doesn’t want it. That takes all the chance in the world out of getting your precursor of choice.
Oh…..is it that you don’t like their price? Hmmmm…..don’t know what to tell you then.
I don’t want to BUY my precursor. What kind of reward and achievement for my character is that?
Oh, I went to the TP and bought it. Whoo hooo, that was fun.
Yeah right. No sense of accomplishment. No sense of achievement.
There needs to be a reliable way, even if it takes a long time, but a guaranteed way for your character to earn their precursor. So the legendary that is supposed to be, I don’t know, LEGENDARY, has some meaning.
The ability to buy/sell them on the TP should be removed and a guaranteed way for your character to earn it should be put in the game.
So now that the patch notes are up, what are your thoughts on it.
Well. When the most exciting thing about a content patch this big is the name change option that we have to pay for…….
From this players perspective, there could have been no patch at all and my game experience wouldn’t be any different.
Maybe I missed it, but I saw nothing in the patch notes for a PvE player to DO. What are all the fun new things to do?
Oh, a living story dungeon. I don’t do dungeons.
No, the whole point of titles is so that people can see your achievements. If you can turn them off we are back to where we were with them being completely unnoticable and worthless.
Who cares if people can see what another player has achieved?
I don’t care what someone else has done in the game. And I don’t want to see it on the screen. It’s just added distraction when at larger events like dragons that isn’t needed.
An option to turn it off is needed. Give the choice to the player to display or not.
So you believe it’s a certain group of players that deserve to hold leader board placements only because they played earlier (not necessarily longer)? That other players no matter how much they play can’t compete with them?
That’s elitist, stinks of exclusiveness, and a down right kitten poor view. Even if new players PLAYED more, DID more, they will never, ever have a chance to place higher on the leaderboards. than those that started dailies earlier.
Dailies should not be counted, if repeatable content APs are not available. To say otherwise, is wrong. It’s black and white.
In terms of fairness, repeatable achievements like the agent of entropy should be capped, due to it’s ease of point generation. Something like Dungeon hobbyist is pure insanity to remove.
None of this should be counted and I cringe at all the wasted time and money already spent to create a system to separate the community.
How long before your position on the leaderboard, or your position as last marks you as a “baddie” and you are ostracized.
Seriously, this is creating an elitist community who will try and bully others with the claim, “well I’m #3 on the leaderboard, I’m better than you, know more about the game than you so you just stfu.”
I’ve spent time on these forums defending the game and Anet, but every time they do garbage like this, it makes my defense harder and harder and my desire to play less and less.
That is sad. A game company deliberately creating a hierarchy within their own game so their players can be called names and abused by others.
Another check mark in the “cons” list of reasons not to play.
Thankfully I found out about this and other stuff in time. I sold a bunch of stuff on Ebay and was going to buy gems with that money out of Paypal.
I’ll be transferring that money into my bank account instead.

If I was working at arenanet I would design things for people to buy in the gem store. You’d think this would be common sense but; apparently for them it’s not.
I know! The only things I buy from the gem store are BL salvage kits and karma boosters. And I only use 1 karma booster a month, after I’ve saved up all my karma pots from the monthly/dailies, orrian jewelry boxes etc, with a banner and ice cream.
But…they do have me at gems for gold. I buy gems to sell for gold. That seems to be there best use right now.
The store has nothing I would buy gems for on purpose. It’s almost as if someone is being lazy and just saying, meh, no need for there to be cool stuff in the gem store, enough suckers buy gems to sell for gold – it’s all good.
An Achievement Leaderboard?
Really?
There was nothing else for the Dev’s to spend their time and money on then to elevate some players above others and make them “special” as opposed to the other 99.9% of us?
Now we will all be judged by our position (or lack thereof) on the Achievement Leaderboard.
Bad move, Anet.
Well the state of the forums is making state of the game threads lol.
A lot of ppl wanted the open world to have a use and that what Anet seems to be aiming for. If you look at a trend with these forms and how the game changes there is a 2 month delay from the forums to the game. They are changing things base off these forums to a point but there is a delay on them.
If this game is being changed and driven by the posts on these forums then the entire game from front to back is in trouble.
If Anet and the Devs didn’t have a clear vision for the game, didn’t already have a years long plan on the direction they wanted the game to go and what additions (or possible subtractions) they want to make to the game in not only a development plan but a business plan – then GW2 is doomed.
Making snap decisions and knee jerk changes to the game due to forum posts is not intelligent game design.
Other than the jewelry boxes, I can’t think of anything you “mass” buy from NPC’s where development time needs to be spent to make this an ingame option.
I don’t know, what is being bought in massive amounts from NPC’s? Maybe I’ve missed something.
Option to mass open bags/boxes again is not something that is needed in general play. While there may be some specific instances like yours where you have a lot of jewelry boxes to open, how soon will that happen again? Seems like a waste of Dev. time.
Mass consumption of karma? That seems odd. I’m not sure why this is needed.
I get what you are saying, you had a lot of karma, bought jewelry boxes and didn’t like all the clicking. But I see all that as some specific circumstances.
Those additions aren’t worth the Dev time and money when they could be doing something meaningful.
I see people in Divinity’s Reach, but I think that is because for whatever reason, the starting area of Queensdale has become “the” starting area. I see low levels of all races leveling there. And I don’t mean down leveled, I see fresh alts leveling.
Maybe part of the problem is the cities design. Divinity’s Reach is relatively straight forward, so is LA. But Rata Sum is a nightmare. It’s a maze that is horrible to visit and other than map complete, who would want to spend time there? It’s design is awful.
So is the Grove. Horrible, maze like design that is not fun to visit, only frustrating.
I spend most of my time in Divinity’s Reach. I see people there but regardless of what city I’m in, I’m not concerned with the city population. I’m crafting, banking, TP’ing and never feel “alone” in cities. I’m there to do whatever. Not just stand around looking at other players.
Sometimes the map chat in LA has devolved into such stupidity it’s nice to go to a quiet city.
No to joining city chat. I leave LA to leave the stupid chat behind, not have it follow me to Divinity’s Reach.
Yes to fishing! I made a post with lots of suggestions on fishing here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Fishing-With-Possibilities/first#post1498241
if you’d like to add to the suggestions to help Anet make fishing awesome!
That and personal housing (crosses fingers) I really hope some day will make it into the game.
I only hope I’m still a player when (if) they ever do
So that’s a good start. Legendaries are going to have a non-money way to obtain the precursors, sometime in the next few months probably, a form of scavenger hunt, so that may help with money issues.
Colin Johanson posted in January that they are not working on a scavenger hunt for anything to do with legendaries.
Just a quick update on where the whole scavenger hunt system stands since I know that’s a topic many of you have brought up recently. We’re not currently actively working on building any sort of legendary precursor scavenger hunt, this is something we want to do in the future and we’re in the midst of designing how this would function, but no one is actively building this feature

Otherwise, nice post and points OP. +1
My guild has no problems doing the content. We have an ally that invites us for guild missions. My problem is that we have to REPRESENT ANOTHER GUILD TO RECEIVE REWARDS.
If my guild members help kill a bounty, I’d like for them to be rewarded. Ideally without having to represent another guild. I have been unable to bring that to them to this point.
So you basically want the guild you are using so your guildies can receive rewards your guild can’t provide to not even have representation from the guildies who are using them?
You want the larger guild to have amassed all the influence to unlock the missions, spent the time to unlock the missions, organize the run, who goes where etc. let your guildies tag along and you are complaining they have to represent the guild who is doing the work?
I don’t understand that. Of course they should have to represent the guild who is doing the mission. This isn’t like sneaking into the movie theater to see a free movie. You want your guildies to have the rewards, they should have to represent the guild who spent the influence and time doing the unlocking.
Otherwise people would be camping out, hoping to get lucky that a guild was doing a mission and they get a few shots in and bang, rares, 50s and commendations.
Representing is the way it should be and should not be changed.
but I am not sure if I want to waste so much material on something which I can’t really show of to others
If I ever get any legendary weapon, it will be for my character and for ME.
I could care less if other players see it, know I have it or care that I do.
If it would make you happy to make your underwater legendary, then go for it. Who cares if anyone can see it or knows you have it.
You will know. And if it makes you happy ingame, that’s all that matters.
And if you have the thick enough skin to actually admit it…
Speak up.
I’m not talking about poor social ability, or personality issues. I’m talking about simply being the bottom end of the “gamer” list.
For myself, I feel often that I’m the bookend on that list. I don’t solo veterans very well, I have difficulty surviving even in groups, and I find level 1 Fractals to be next to impossible to contribute to (in reality, the four friends I run with can finish them on their own, I’m just cannon fodder).
One of the reasons I came to GW2 was the rumors I heard about it being more casual friendly, and I think that overall it is. I’ve enjoyed it a lot more than I have any other MMO (otherwise I wouldn’t be around, because I believe Anet is obsessed with forcing people to the gem store).
Still, no matter how casual, it still is somewhat depressing when all I hear in regards to dungeons and fractals is how “easy” they are.Does anyone else look at dungeons/fractals and boggle at how “easy” can be used to define them?
You know, I don’t bother with trying to label myself as a “good” player, an “awesome” player or a “bad” player.
I am a player. Playing against content provided by Anet. Some of it is easy for me. I can do the veteran guarding the cauliflower farm easily on my ranger. Do I care? No, I’m there to gather my cauliflower for the day, I don’t care that I’m “good” at killing that veteran. I can tell you, there is no way I could kill that vet on my elementalist.
What I do know is I hate people who play games who A. try to act superior to other players B. insist they are a better player than you C. try to use a game to make you feel bad about yourself because you’re a “baddie” or a “terribad”, terms I can’t stand.
I find people who say, “oh that level 30 fractal is cake, you’re just a baddie, go away” to either be lying, trying to compensate for something by trying to make someone else feel bad, or just a mean person.
I can’t solo a boss like I see people posting about all the time. The only class so far I can solo vets on is my ranger. The other classes? Not happening (so far). Champs? I can’t solo a single one.
Some of the jumping puzzles I can’t do. The pirate one, nope. The EB one, nope. They are simply too hard for me. And don’t quote me and tell me what easysauce those JP’s are, I don’t care what you think.
But I discovered the raven puzzle on accident, didn’t even know it was a JP and did it to the chest before knowing it was one.
I avoid dungeons like the plague. They take too long, and some aspects of them are too hard. TA blossoms and poison spray, gah! hate that place. Actually I find the last boss to be easier to kill then getting there in the first place. I think there is a lot of content in the game that is hard. Some is too hard. But, others would disagree.
Fractals. Never done one and never will. I don’t like dungeons to begin with. I don’t like being chained to my computer for any length of time where I can’t get up and toss the tennis ball across the kitchen for my dog, or get a cup of coffee or check the laundry.
I’m not good and I’m not bad. I’m just a player. A player who wants to log into the game to have fun. That is why I bought it. That is why I click “log in”.
I’ll let other people tie their identities and lives to their online pixels and puff themselves up with how awesome and wonderful they are in an online game.
Me? I’ll just be logging in and doing what I find fun and avoiding those things I don’t find fun. And not doing the things I can’t do, because for whatever reasons, I just can’t do them.
Does that make me a bad player? Fine.
I AM A BAD PLAYER AND PROUD OF IT.
There.
Can’t comparable accessories be bought with guild mission tokens x12? That’s much more feasible than laurels/ectos.
It’s 12x guild mission tokens PLUS 5g.
Only the individual player can decide what the best way to obtain their accessories are. Spending the gold + guild mission tokens or laurels + ectos.
Either way is expensive, but in the end, both ways are better than having to do fractals.
Sometimes I get 3 ectos from 5 rares in a row. Sometimes I get no ectos from 5 rares in a row. RNG stinks
I got 2 ectos for 20 rares using BL kits only.
RNG doesn’t just stink, it’s worse than that!
Which kits are you using
What level rares are you using
What is your sample size
ProofWell, I don’t have any proof, but I use BL salvage kits exclusively on all my lvl 80 rares and out of the last 17 rares I’ve salvaged, I’ve gotten zero ectos.
Worst RNG run ever. Sometimes I used to get none, but that was rarely. Now, I get none every time.
If this keeps up, I’ll stop buying BL kits and just sell the rare for 25-30s and buy an ecto. At least I’ll be guaranteed one each time.
17 rares and 0 ectos, you must be doing something wrong.. And I rarely ever say that.. But there’s statistically almost no way that’s possible. Please see “BL salvage VS Master Salvage” thread.
If you seriously did 17 with 0 ecto and make it to 20 rares with no ecto, I would send a bug report..
Well, we’ll see today. I have 2 rares in my alt’s backpack, and I’m waiting on the Maw event to start. I’ll put these rares in the bank and have my main you has the BL salvage kits in her bags salvage them.
But yes, I seriously salvaged 17 rares with no ecto using nothing but BL kits. I’m a gem buyer. I don’t see the point in salvaging unless I’m using a BL kit.
If I salvage these next 3, and no ecto(s), then I’ll take your advice and put in a bug report.
So I salvaged those 3 rares and got 2 ectos total. So from 20 BL salvages 2 ectos.
Worst RNG ever. Or conspiracy theory. Take your pick. Either way, that is unacceptable for something purchased from the gem store. For the price of the kits, the % chance of ‘rare’ material should be higher if this is the way salvaging is going to be now.

Unless you are very lucky I would imagine it being cheaper to just buy a precursor off TP
And that is really a shame. When your character does finally earn their legendary weapon (if ever) it should have been earned by the character, not bought off the TP.
That just kills the experience of your character having a legendary.
Oh look, I have a legendary, yeah, I bought it. Blah.
I’m really sorry this happened to you. Didn’t you look up the requirements first?
I found this:
250 Guild Merits.
50 000 Influence.
Requires Level 6 Architecture.
Requires Guild Challenge
just after a 10 second Google search.
I’m sorry this happened to you though.
I also think you need at least 5-6 people to do the puzzles anyway.
Maybe you can partner with another guild on your server and work together.
I have no problem with the fact that players are being rewarded for playing in a certain way but I do have a problem when that reward directly punish people who don’t.
Everything can be looked at that way. I’ll never get my WvW titles because I don’t like WvW and never play it. Am I being punished? No. I’m not being rewarded for content I don’t participate in.
If you log in and don’t do your dailies you aren’t being punished.
Aren’t you playing and having fun? If you are playing, what are you doing that precludes you from doing your daily?
Are you being punished because you don’t get a rare because you didn’t want to do a boss event? No. You didn’t do the event. The people who did the event are being given the rewards for doing said event.
Same thing.
new features like housing
Truly I hope some day to see that in patch notes. And fishing.
i would like to suggest that either total costs are lowered or ectos and guild marks are removed (preferred method considering a bunch of circumstances ranging from play your way no grind game manifesto and legendaries on the tp) from the ascended gear equation.
I think it was a great concession to put ascended gear in the game with multiple avenues toward getting the gear and not just one path.
For the accessories, I think the price of the ectos or the guild commendations is good. I mean you do have to do something in game to earn the items.
So right now, for the accessories you can do fractals, do world bosses for rares to salvage, craft rares to salvage for ectos, or do guild missions for guild commendations. That’s 3 different ways to earn 1 item.
I think that’s pretty good compromise. They all require work or commitment of some sort. You just have to choose the one that suits your play style.
They need to add the back pieces with alternate ways to earn them other than just fractals. I’m hoping they are working on that and it’s coming in the future. Like the other ascended pieces, we should have choice on how we earn them, not just limit it to one path.
I sell gems. Not very creative, but effective.
mmmh i love this game cause there are no addons, NO DPS METERS, and no stress…
the community is much more relaxed, ppl tend to help players that dont know some mechanics instead of rank a player out of an addon number. this is the way i like gw2..
Yes! I couldn’t agree more.
Why do a frustrating dungeon for very little to no reward, when you can do a relatively easy world event for a guaranteed reward?
People will wait an hour for something rewarding, they wont for nothing..
I’d rather stand around for 45mins waiting on Jormag, alt-tabbed reading the forums then doing any of the dungeons in the game.
Which kits are you using
What level rares are you using
What is your sample size

Then if they make it much easier to get than the current method, its going to receive some justified rage from people who worked hard grinding the gold to buy one off the TP.
I don’t think the rage would be justified. Anyone not bright enough to realize spending 1500g + for their legendary on the TP is just fighting against themselves.
You characters legendary weapon should be something your character earns for themselves. And there should be a reasonable way to obtain it.
Buying things is no fun. Earning them in game is what makes the game fun. When you remove the ability to earn items for yourself, you’ve taken the fun out of the game.
Maybe a way to establish that is to go play another game that requires you to have 48 game mods installed and then you can check their gear online and get a dps count after every single kill.
Then you can slap negative names on players.
In GW2, there are players. Just players. We don’t like to slap negative, degrading, nasty names on players here.
Human. All 3 of my characters are human and I don’t intend to roll any other races even if I roll another character.
My “main” is my ranger and I love that profession. I go everywhere with her. I agree the pet running ahead and aggroing mobs I’m not anywhere near is a problem, but as SB ranger, I genuinely like the profession.
I have an 80 ele that I can’t stand. For whatever reasons I can’t play the class right. She dies instantly to any single mob and is simply useless.
I just started leveling a mesmer and the profession is really fun! I’m only level 11, but am really enjoying it so far. I’m hoping I don’t like her so much that she supplants my ranger as my main.
I have played all my characters solo to 80. My ranger is the one with most map complete. I think I’m at something like 82%, or close to that.
I can definitely see my mesmer going to 80. My ele, I just use for crafting and take her out to do the Maw event hoping I don’t get killed.
Huh? No, Anet never even hinted that it would be in the game by now, or at release or anytime soon. They said they would very much like to do it and it’ll most likely happen down the road – no timetable at all.
Proof otherwise?
House System
Most MMORPGs don’t pay attention to players’ houses, but Guild Wars 2 does. All players have a house respectively in their capital after their characters were born and their house is connected with their personal biography. What’s interesting is that characters of different personalities will have distinct houses. Things inside the house are defined by players and character attributes. As long as players play the game all the time, their house will have inside changes constantly. Furthermore, the game offers abundant house ornaments and players can also gain rich booty in the adventurous journey to decorate their house. In a word, players are able to create their unique house by means of item combinations.
Ree Soesbee: Your home instance (which consists of an area about the size of a city block, within your character’s racial city, where you have the racial equivalent of a house – a lab, for the asura, for example – several streets, some merchant’s areas, and other city-like things) will reflect your character’s victories, their accomplishments, and the people they meet in the game.
This is talking about the instance we get for our personal story, but that instance does not reflect our character’s victories, accomplishments etc. leading readers to believe there will be expansion on the personal housing question.
He mentioned that there will be no Guild Halls on release as we want to make Guild Halls a great experience and not just a “place”. We will introduce player housing at some point after launch, and at that time we will also implement guild halls.

I`d personally rather guild halls first then personal housing.
Guild Halls serve no purpose for the individual player.
The game can benefit enormously from personal housing. From both a player perspective and a monetary perspective for Anet.
Players love personal housing. They like their personal space within the game that makes the game seem more immersive and feel more like they are a part of it and their surroundings.
There’s nothing like going “home” after a day out adventuring, emptying your bags, maybe placing a new trophy on the wall or a table for a deed you have accomplished. Standing by the fireplace, wondering if you should have your crafting alt make a new rug for the floor in front of it.
The increase for crafting (especially since crafting is now being ruined by ascended pieces – look at jewelcraft). From tapestries from tailors to furniture from artificers, bowls of fruit, cooked turkeys and hams, bowls of green beans from cooks. Weapon and armor displays from their respective crafts. There is something for every craft.
Mannequins that hold and display complete sets of armor you’re not using. You can have a whole room just for your mannequin displays.
Weapon racks that serve the same purpose. Trophies for doing deeds out in the world instead of 2 achievement points.
Bookshelves displaying your snowglobes from Wintersday 2013, Wintersday 2014. Knick-knacks and trinkets earned and picked up in your travels. Collectibles and silly stuff. Where you can look and reflect on your time spent playing your favorite game.
The possibilities for the gem store are limitless, I won’t even go into that.
Anet, don’t waste Dev time and money on Guild Halls, spend in on personal housing.
An aspect that will tie the player to the game in a personal way and make them not ever want to abandon it.

The hardcore players are more focused on progression, to become better and hit harder, and this does not happen much. With Ascended gear, this was introduced, but there has been a lot of feedback on this from the community because people didn’t want to have a gear requirement. The hardcore players (the ones that will keep playing this game for a long time) need an incentive to stay, or else this player base will dwindle.
That is the problem right there. The perception that the “hard core” player is the only type of player to keep the game alive.
That is wrong. The hardcore players, the ones who want to spend 10 hours a day chasing down better gear so they can be better than the next player are not the bread and butter player of GW2. They are not the gem buyers. They are not the players who will stay for the long haul.
They will leave when another game releases a new patch and a new tier of gear. They will leave when new raids are introduced in other games and the loyal GW2 players will be left with a mess of a game created on their demands that we don’t want.
Gear treadmills are not wanted by the majority of the players. That is why there was such an outcry when Ascended gear was introduced. The players here to stay. The loyal GW2 players know what they want from their game and it’s not the same thing as the “hard cores”.
Anet needs to take a long hard look at who their loyal players are. Who are the most likely to stick around and play consistently. Who are most likely to make gem purchases. Who are most likely to log in and have GW2 be their game.
Those are the players they want to cater to. Not the players who just drop into GW2 when they are bored with their “main” game and making demands and creating a mess for the rest of us.
I don’t know if I have anything of value to add.
We have done 2 guild bounties successfully and all our guildies had fun.
We look forward to them now every Saturday. Although it would be nice if it didn’t require so many people spread out across the world looking for the NPC. It takes longer to organize the event then to actually do it.
There seems to be an issue with some people not getting the loot chest even though they did dps to the boss. I think that should be looked at.
I didn’t read all 43+ pages of this thread, but that’s what I have to contribute to any discussion about guild missions.
I’m not tying my real life face and expressions to my virtual character though a webcam.
I prefer to play my character as herself, not as me.
Crystal Desert is very populated and busy.
There isn’t much advice except play the game and have fun! Play some different professions, see what you like best. Do crafting, it’s good xp and it’s actually fun in this game. Cooking is by far the most detailed and intriguing crafting.
Just go out in the world and have fun playing is the best advice I can give. Find a good guild with people who play around the same time you do.
Harvest, craft, do dynamic events, do hearts, explore caves, swim around looking for hidden grottos, do jumping puzzles, explore the Trading Post, sell some stuff, make your own armor or weapons that are actually usable and not useless like some other games, do guild missions, do some WvW if PvP is your thing.
Just jump in and play.
