Horrible, horrible idea. Want to divide the community? Give them a way to make fun of, call names and generally embarrass and try and pigeon hole players into “good” and “bad”.

There is absolutely no benefit to having this in the game.

I was standing at the TP yesterday, and an ele was next to me with a staff. Someone said in /say chat, “what a noob, you’re supposed to be dd build, not staff”.

Allow inspection and things like that will get completely out of hand.

WvW POIs

I finally finished my WvW maps. I’m not close to map completion though, but at least WvW is out of the way and over with.

Depending on where some of the points are, and you don’t mention you need any SP’s, for a couple, I just made a suicide run. You only have to get to a certain spot for credit. Take off all your armor and put any movement boosts you have on your bar, or get some food, and run for it.

If you have all the SP’s and vistas and only need POI’s, you’re in the home stretch.

Good luck!

Why the change to daily accomplishments?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Halanna.3927

I love the new daily achievements. Especially the February monthly! I’m actually going to get my first monthly achievement.

The dailies, I used to have to go out and try and finish it on purpose. I had to find the different variety and do different things on purpose. Now, the daily just happens naturally as I play and I don’t have to worry about it anymore.

I get that not everyone is going to see every aspect of the game the same way, but I think the new dailies are great. I don’t find them grindy in any way.

I mean, how easy is it to hit F and talk to the laurel vendor? And that part of the daily. Awesome.

Mounts? What on earth?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Halanna.3927

I don’t see why mounts are needed. The brooms are not the same as “mounts” per se. Instead of standing you are sitting. You don’t go any faster and they do look a little silly.

I would prefer to see Dev time spent on content and things to do, not things to sit on.

I’m still not impressed with Orr even after the nerf to mobs. There are some skill points and vistas that take some time to figure out how to get to and take some running around but who wants to spend 2 hours figuring out a vista due to respawns that are so fast and mob density that is ridiculous.

Not to mention, if I see another porous bone as loot, I’m gonna just cry. Sick, sick sick of those bones. And the Champion that took us what seemed like forever to bring down, that rolled over us like a bowling ball every 10 seconds dropped a pair of blue shoulders that merchanted for 63c.

That most certainly wasn’t worth the 15mins it took, plus the repair bill to bring down the champ. Complete waste and next time, I’ll just run by and won’t bother.

Is this finally the “Raid” content we’ve been looking for? Will guilds finally be able to have a purpose? Discuss…

For goodness sake, lets hope not. Anything resembling a traditional raid and I’m just going to quit. There are already MMO’s in existence that force raiding on you and I won’t do it anymore.

How does your guild not have a purpose? Our guild is always in a party doing something.

As far as this update, I see nothing interesting. They are giving us WoW’s arena, which I hated in that game and won’t play in this game. If they continue to WoW clone, people will quit. Why give duplicate content already available in another game?

PvP, blah. I prefer PvE.

Time will tell, but they aren’t going to get a whole lot more time out of me.

Forcing players to complete dungeons = bad I think

What you call it is irrelevant. This type of game has grind inherently. It’s required to keep the game interesting and to present goals. Maybe you can research what MMOs generally entail before you buy your next one.

Maybe you should read the thread more carefully before you quote and chastise the wrong player.

Halanna.3927

You’re playing an MMO, get over it.

MMO means Massively Multiplayer Online. Lots of people online playing at the same time.

It’s not MMOPIAG. Massively Multiplayer Online Playing In A Group.

I don’t have much opinion on the dungeon monthlies. I don’t like them, but I’ll do them because I want my monthly achieve. Once I do my 5, I won’t go back until next month. It could be worse, it could require fractals or PvP, so I won’t complain about 5 dungeons.

But it always amazes me that the argument to people who don’t like certain aspects of the game are, “well too bad, you’re playing an MMO”, but don’t even understand what MMO means.

Out of all the boxes I’ve bought, I’ve never gotten anything better than different karma drinks.

I don’t see the point in wasting karma. Who knows what will be introduced in the future that could potentially take tons and tons of karma and will be actually useful.

Spending karma to get karma drinks that don’t even equal the karma I spent is not working for me. But, at least some players are finding them useful.

I don’t really feel like I worked that hard to get to 80. I ran around, harvested, did events, did hearts, explored and before I knew it, I was 80.

In some games, you constantly feel like "omg I can’t wait to finish this level, omg I’ll never be done with this level omg leveling is the most boring thing ever.

In GW2, it just doesn’t work that way. Thankfully!

I think out of what you mentioned, DR is the worst. I understand and agree that bots need to go, but punishing players who need vials of blood for crafting or cloth for tailoring is just the worst.

I really, really, really dislike DR. Because of the actions of the dumb, the honest players are punished.

Grinding dailies

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Halanna.3927

Halanna.3927

Honestly, the dailies are awesome. I don’t see how they can be considered a grind. The only thing that could even come anywhere close would be the Daily Healer, and that’s just a matter of finding some dead NPC’s.

How on earth are you not “crafting” enough? You only have to stand there and make 10 planks or ingots or something. Really, if you made 6, just make 4 more, there is no way, NO WAY to not “craft enough”.

I don’t know, I mean if you find the dailies a grind don’t ever play any other MMO because you will be shocked to kitten at what grinding actually means.

Look up the crafting choices and level your crafting with your character. Especially if you want to make your own armor/weapons. Otherwise you’ll far outlevel what you can make, quickly.

Save your coppers. Every single one you can and try not to waste any. Coin is super difficult (for me anyway) to come by.

Have fun! The world and areas are huge. There is so much to see. Take your time and enjoy the beautiful world created for us to play in.

There is no reason to rush, if you’re not familiar with the dynamic leveling system, look it up because because being max level doesn’t mean anything when you go into a lower level zone.

armor to be cheaper to replace than repair?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Halanna.3927

Halanna.3927

I don’t know but repair costs are ridiculous. Every single time I die, I have to repair. I wear medium armor. I make a bad decision and go afk to get a cup of coffee in a bad place and die, repair. Dungeons, repair. Attempt stuff to see if I can solo, repair. Distracted and not paying attention and die, repair.

Don’t get me started on the WP costs. I have no incentive to pop around the world and help guildies when the WP cost is so high. Heaven forbid I WP and die.

I do travel all over but I tend to only stay in connecting zones because of the WP cost.

If the intention is the only way to make coin is to sell gems, it’s working, because that is all I know of to have more than a few silver on me. I’m trying to figure it out, and all the MMO’s I’ve ever played, I’ve eventually figured out what the market needs and how to make coin. In GW2, haven’t found it yet.

Is the monthly too hard?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Halanna.3927

Halanna.3927

I don’t think the monthly is too hard. I’m really happy to see no fractals or PvP of any sort required.

I will probably take me most of the month to get the dungeons done. I have 2, but I play at odd hours so being online when 4 other guildies are who want to do dungeons will be some scheduling.

My hardest part I think will be the salvaging. I saw someone say buy whites off the TP, but I’m losing even more coin doing that. I salvage anything that I can’t sell to a merchant for say, more than 50c, but coin for me anyway, is extremely hard to come by so far. I just haven’t figured out any way to make money, besides selling gems. That really isn’t an effective in game solution.

If they keep the monthlies like this, with no fractals or PvP required, I look forward to working toward completing them each month. But if they require PvP or fractals in successive months, I’ll be disappointed.

I feel pressured to complete the monthly..

I don’t know. I mean they can add something in the future to allow you to hide it, but it’s really just a green star and the word Monthly next to it and a %.

My Personal Story takes up way more room then the one line for the Monthly.

Dailies the easy way

Halanna.3927

Dodge: go to wvw.

Underwater mobs: go to wvw

Events: Go to wvw

Veterans: go to wvw

Not to be negative, but there are tons of areas in the game to quickly (if that is your intention) complete your dailies without having to step foot in WvW.

I dislike WvW, it’s just not my thing. There are plenty of things/places to dodge, tons of underwater mobs, tons of events and tons of veterans everywhere in the open world without stepping foot in WvW.

I don’t want a new player to get the idea that the only or best place to do your dailies is WvW because it really isn’t true.

While I don’t like WvW, I respect the players that do and it’s probably bad enough they have PvE map completers taking up spots actual PvP players would want, they probably don’t want daily completers in there either taking up space.

This is pretty much a solo game...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Halanna.3927

Halanna.3927

The game is mostly done solo. The only grouping you’ll do is in dungeons and even then, it’s very shallow because of the lack of distinct roles and the poorly designed skill system. The personal story is pretty much solo as well, no group missions like in GW1. Grouping is pretty much a novelty feature in this game. So yeah, mostly alone. When you do manage to find other people in the open world, though, they’ll just zerg the closest event with you and then run away. Not much to it, it’s the most impersonal and shallow experience i’ve ever had in MMO gaming.

The second I log in, someone in my guild is sending me an invite to group.

Let’s go here. Let’s go there. Let’s do this.

Just because most of the hearts can be solo’d doesn’t mean you have to do them solo.

You can group, log in at an odd hour, go do some stuff solo, do dragons, champs, events.

Actually, sometimes I wish I wasn’t always in a group. Sometimes I just want to go hunt chili peppers in Charr zones.

Halanna.3927

I’ve noticed nobody talks, nobody answers questions nobody does anything social. This seems to be the least helpful MMO I’ve played. I’ve asked questions and get nothing. Try to see where people are and be vocal in pvp and show positions and such and nothing.

Nobody says a thing in this game. It’s so odd, and makes me want to play less and less because it feels stale like a single player RPG with a bad story line.

It must be your server. On Crystal Desert, there is always people talking in zone maps, my guild is always talking. People in LA are always looking for more for groups.

The WvW maps, people are very vocal! Sometimes too much. You have 4 different people telling everyone to do 4 different things. I don’t know about sPvP, never played it and never will.

If you are referring to mindless, stupid banter like goes on in another game, then no, the population here seems to be much more mature and doesn’t find it necessary to talk about stupid stuff in map chat constantly.

Which is quite a relief.

I am fully aware that the developers have more ways to obtain items planned out for us in the future. But is this a good start?

I think it’s a good start. It shows the Dev’s are trying to give access to all the items in different ways. This start was with Laurel’s.

Like you said, you know there are more ways planned in the future so I think it’s a good sign that they have at least started it in a way most people can complete fairly easily.

It took me approx. 40mins to do my daily, but I stopped to pick every herb, went out of my way to chop trees and mine ore.

If I just stuck to “do the dailies and get them done” it wouldn’t have taken that long. I was meandering.

Gw2 Armory?

in Suggestions

Posted by: Halanna.3927

Halanna.3927

I don’t think it’s needed. I don’t really see the point. If you want ideas on gear, traits, etc. there are plenty of websites for that.

Players don’t need to be abused by others because they aren’t traited they way someone else wants them to be, or geared, or using stats that someone else thinks they should be using.

It completely removes individuality and forces you into what others think you should be doing.

Then the name calling of terribads, baddies, noobs and everything else starts.

The Developer’s time can be better spent somewhere else.

The Armory is one of the worst things about WoW’s online features.

The Elder Scrolls Online is coming out this year and we have to see how that turns out, but as long Guild Wars 2 doesn’t have the things I’ve written about, I think a lot of people will be looking for an other MMO, and I am one of them. IF these changes finally do come in GW2, I will keep playing Guild Wars 2 and it will probably become my “main game”.

I have no interest in the Elder Scrolls. I’ve been 80 for 2 weeks now and haven’t run out of things to do. In fact, I have too much to do. GW2 already is my main game. It’s my only game. Why is having you as a player more important than me. Or Player B? or Player C?

If they make changes like you are talking about, especially gear treadmills, leaderboards and other garbage, they will keep you as a player, but lose me as a player.

From reading these forums, the posters don’t want gear treadmills. Half of them don’t even like Fractals. (before you flame, notice I said posters, not players).

Gathering hack?

Halanna.3927

I saw the same thing in one of the 25 lvl zones yesterday. He appeared inside the node then disappeared. Definitely a hack.

I’ve seen the same thing too. At an ore node a player sort of rose up out of node, flickered in and out, then disappeared.

This isn’t a player logging in and WP’ing away, it’s a bot. There wasn’t any visible character movement, such as the character swinging the pickaxe. I think that is what the flickering was.

A player has to open the map and choose a WP too, they disappear too fast for that. Who’s going to pay 1 or 2s just to WP to a tree?

Player housing is a great idea for all the reasons people have already posted about. To the OP, you don’t go to your house and just stay there. You would go there from time to time to decorate, store stuff and do other things, but there would be no benefit to just staying in your house and never leaving.

I don’t see the point of guild halls at all. I’d rather the time and money was spent on player housing then guild halls. Oh, and adding fishing.

2.) Add really high tiers of items only available in the hardest dungeons.

I hate WoW nowadays, mostly due to them splitting the game into two, but they should get a lot of credit for their PvE item progression at end-game. GW2 should take a page from it if they want more people to play their game.

No, WoW shouldn’t be given any credit for their PvE progression at end game. WoW has created a job, not a fun game. Take a month off? Ha, forget it. You’re already behind on rep, gear, gems, enchants and no, it’s just not fun.

The LAST thing GW2 should do is take a page from WoW’s play book.

The item progression in WoW is horrid! It never ends, you never get a break and you never get to have any fun because all you are doing is chasing the next tier, the next epic gem, the next rep for an enchant. Ugh.

I know it’s not your fault OP, but it’s getting boring reading post after post after post asking for WoW’s ridiculous treadmill. It makes no sense. If that is what you want in a a game, why not play that game? Why does GW2 have to be ruined?

Orr is empty on my server too, but I started to discover it before the changes, and wow, it is a big difference!

Before as you were trying to clear a path to get somewhere, even just to chop a tree, by the time you got down killing what was in front of you, the stuff behind you had already respawned and was attacking. Then the stuff in front would respawn. It was pretty crazy.

Now it’s just locked up WP’s and temples that are never available. But it’s definitely easier to navigate and explore. I got a couple heavy bags this morning just trying to open up some of Malachores Leap.

The problem with the healer achievement, is that in Queensdale for instance, there are enough people rezzing the NPCs that there aren’t many dead ones. Yes. Yes. Go somewhere else. I don’t want to. It’s expensive to jump to other maps and I don’t want to waste my money on that.

It’s not just NPC’s in Queensdale. Go to where the troll spawns, people stand under him and die all the time. Level 4’s are always mixing it up with the harpies trying to kill the bulls too.

There is enough death in Qeensdale for everyone.

I do like that they’ve tried to make it different with different skills, weapons, etc.

Where are we supposed to get to aqua breathers? On the entire TP, lvl 1-80 for all rarities, there is 1. One. For lvl 20.

Hopefully not Orr. That place is awful. The WP are always contested. You can never buy anything from the karma vendors because of it.

Yeah, tell me it’s all soloable to open the karma vendors. I’ve tried. There is never anyone there to help.

Sorry to go OT, I just don’t like Orr. Actually I do, it’s all creepy and fun to explore. But that’s all you can do is run around. You can’t ever go anywhere you want because of the WP’s!

I don’t think that’s necessarily true. I’m happy with the content and constantly visit the forums.

You never know what little gems, nuggets, hints, tricks or tips you’ll learn about the game just by reading the forums.

Maybe the biggest problem right now is there are players from another MMO who are bored with that game trying out GW2. The forums run by that game are like a prison island where everyone has a gun. You can be as nasty as you want toward other posters and the game itself because there is little to no moderation.

I like the heavy handed moderation on these forums. It keeps the focus on the game and not on particular posters who just like to run their mouths.

How do you get 2 Laurels a day?

I was wondering the same thing. The PvP daily doesn’t give a laurel, or so my guildmates say. I don’t PvP if I don’t have to.

Funny how easy this daily is… there are plenty of dead npcs everywhere.

Yeah, exactly. No reason for people to be offing themselves for others to get the daily done.

I don’t know why some are so lazy.
