I like the new laurel system, I think it’s great. I don’t care that it takes me a month or more for an ascended piece. AS LONG AS ASCENDED IS AS HIGH AS THE GEAR GOES, geesh. I’m not playing this game for a gear treadmill.

But back on topic, if you choose to play 11 alts or 10 or 7, that is your choice. Just because you choose to play that many doesn’t mean they all have to have the very bestest gear and you choosing to play that many characters is not Anet’s fault.

You really expect to fully gear 11 characters in the very best the game has to offer? In what time period? A month? A week?

Get over it.

You could kill off a large number of young karka sell the shells and make a large number of money and buy the T6 material. Just a thought.

It shouldn’t work that way, at all. You should be able to find enough crafting mats through normal play without having to play “tricks” to get the basics of what you need.

DM ruins it even further. I want to make a rare bow for my ranger? 15 blood (or 15 of a different mat)That is literally days and enormous luck just to get 15 blood.

That is broken. If it’s working as intended, time to find a new game.

I have to agree.

Separate PvE and PvP. If people like and want to do both, they can.

But you penalize the PvP players by requiring PvE and ruin the game experience for PvE players by forcing PvP.

Make both. People can chose to do one or the other or both.

Choice.

There is game precedence for this. In the game Ultima Online there was originally one world, Felucca which was open PvP all the time, everywhere.

Player out cry caused the developers to have to split the game world into two, one open PvP and one with no PvP for strictly PvE.

This is what players want. They don’t want to be forced into either play style. They want choice. It’s been proven in the game industry historically and I continue to be confused as to why games think they can get their player base to just “go with it” now.

It’s a farce and it dehumanises women.

Worse, I worry that it reinforces behavioural patterns that women are having to fight against on a daily basis at the moment. Every day women are told that they’re only at their best if they’re buying the best clothes / perfume / accessories / cosmetics and that they NEED to look sexually alluring if they’re to be successful, and this game does nothing to stop that being the case.

Oh. My. God.

You understand the characters in the game aren’t actual women right? They are pixels on a screen in a fictional game that you have chosen to play.

It does not dehumanize women. That is the most ridiculous thing I’ve read on the forums today. How exactly does it do that? What the kitten.

Where on earth do you live where the women are being told they are only worth something if they buy the most expensive clothes, perfume etc. and have to be sexually alluring to be successful?

That is just plain stupid and insulting to all the women who work and strive every day in their chosen profession, the glass ceiling having been shattered long ago.

I am a woman. I am a female gamer. I take huge exception to the pedestal you’ve built for yourself. Get down. We can take care of ourselves. Are you stuck in the 18th century?

I want more skimpy armor! I want my character to look nice and pretty. I don’t want her trussed up like a nun. I don’t want her looking like she lives in an igloo. (not that there’s anything wrong with living in an igloo).

Give me dresses, show skin, make it sexy, pretty and lots of areas to dye different colors so we can be creative.

Give us all the S’s. Skimpy, Sexy, Sassy, Skitteny, Snazzy, Stylish, Saucy, Spunky.

But do not give us prudish.

It has been stated thousands of time before by numerous people that there is no need for mounts in this game.

I would never use a mount anyway.

How would that even work. Mount up, ride 1/2 inch, dismount, harvest blackberry, mount up, ride 1/2 inch, dismount, chop a tree, mount up ride an inch, ohh some bats, maybe I can get some blood, dismount, mount up, ride 2 seconds, oh an event, dismount……

Seriously, there is no place for mounts.

I think that Anet is trying to hard to not be like Blizzard, which sucks because WoW copies a ton of great ideas. So basically Anet shuns great ideas for the sake of their own pride vs what makes games so dang fun.

If Anet made GW2 to be anything like WoW, I wouldn’t be here, and they wouldn’t be getting my gem money.

For players like me, their strategy is working.

well Anet did say we’d have a home instance… where’s that

It’s already in the game, like I’m a human ranger and Salma is my “home district” and it’s an instance.

If you’ve done your personally story, you’ve gone there many times.

On housing, yes!!!! Runes of Magic and LOTRO had great housing but EQ2 had my favorite.

They had different sizes you could choose from to suit your character from 1 room little spaces to large palatial bi and tri level homes with patios and everything.

Tailors made curtains, throw rugs, cushions, wall hanging. In GW2 all the professions could make something, even cooks could make placeable food for tables, sideboards, meat on spits in the fireplace that another profession could make.

The possibilities are endless.

A huge yes to housing!

philosophy on raids?

I don’t want raids in GW2. Much like how the devs wasted time, energy, and customer goodwill with their Ascended nonsense and the botched introduction of Fractals, I would prefer they did not spend their time, energy, and more customer goodwill adding content that goes specifically against the manifesto of the game they sold me.

Goettel: I don’t see why ArenaNet has to abandon small-group content for the sake of doing the same fraggin’ thing every other MMO in the last five years has done, that’s basically all.

Nevertheless, the game all of you want to play takes directly away from the game I want to play. Am I not permitted to voice my objections the way you’re permitted to voice your desires?

I don’t want raids in GW2 either and that would be the fastest way to lose me as a player and lose my gem buying money.

If you all want raids, why not go play a game that has more then enough of them?

Raiding is awful. I quit another gaming because of the raiding.

I’ll quit GW2 just as quickly.

No to raids.

Well, a couple of reasons,

  1. I already have them and don’t like throwing money away. Since you can’t sell them I tend to hold onto them until I use them up.

Just put them in your bank and use them on a fresh alt.

There is nothing wrong with gathering in this game. It’s great! Buy Orichalcum tools, equip a set, keep a set in spare, couple salvage kits and you’re all set.

It’s not complicated. Even if you pick up the occasional copper ore or green wood with Orichalcum Tools, it evens itself out in the end.

The few copper you may lose far outweighs the convenience of just carrying and using the highest level tools.

Maybe it comes down to a difference in play style. For those players (like me) who take our time and enjoy the game and what it has to offer, there doesn’t seem to be a problem leveling.

Maybe others are just trying to push push push and level as fast as possible.

If you log in and just simply play what you feel like playing, crafting, harvesting, doing your daily achievement, personal story, exploring – you level far too fast.

My second character is level 65 and I’m only at 35% map complete, my personal story is still in the level 20’s, I’ve never done WvW (except to try and to the map vistas, poi’s etc., but I don’t do PvP).

I don’t know why there is such disparity, but GW2 is a game to be savored, not rushed and pushed through.

Actually, most other MMO’s have an achievement system that actually matters,

What game would that be? If you’re referring to titles to ‘show off’ or mounts to again ‘show off’ then that doesn’t matter, it’s just ego stroking.

You can’t even compare achievements or inspect people.

Who cares? Other than to see what a particular skin is which would be doubtful, why do you need to inspect other players? So you can laugh at them, post on the forums about how people don’t gear properly or don’t use the proper stats? What possible reason do you have to inspect other characters? And why do you care what achievements other people have completed? I’m being serious, why?

There is nothing like that, nothing that warrants any grind having a point to it, nothing to show off that makes you stand out.

And there it is. Nothing to show how special you are in comparison to other players. Nothing to say, I’m better than you. Really, if you want a hierarchy within the player base go play a game that lets some players feel superior to others so they can take the obvious step by calling the so called “less” players names, make fun of them and generally act like kitten. There is already a game for that and it has the worst playerbase ever.

No raiding, fotm is the only ‘end-game’ content there is and it sucks, hell is there even a title for reaching the high levels of it? You don’t even get any special rewards for getting up into the 40’s, it’s honestly pathetic. Are there rare pets, anything? Ask yourself these questions.

Thank god for no raiding. Really. Finally a game that is not raid focused.

Now let’s talk about raids. 10 or 25 man parties are epic, taking out huge bosses with concentrated team synergy. (inb4 people who have never even played another MMO talk about how ez the trinity is and how they hate it)

No, no they are not epic. They are awful. Horrible. I did play “another” MMO for 7 years and raids are old, over done content that has been exhausted. GW2 IS NOT THAT MMO! It is different.

I really don’t think ANet gets it when it comes to full fledged MMO’s, and they need to wake up and take notes from the big dogs that DO. Don’t even get me started on the boring trinity and combat.

Anet does get their playerbase. If you are so enamored with another MMO, why don’t you go play that? It has all the things you are complaining about. But don’t try and ruin GW2 to make it into a clone of another game that has already been done and played to death. GW2 won’t survive copying ‘that’ game. People are tired of ‘that’ game, tired of the mechanics, the game play, all of it. Players want something different. GW2 delivers something different for those players looking for a long term, fresh new game.

ok, one reason I don’t like going to character select screen is it heats up my computer more than in game … according to the apple activity monitor, GW2 cpu usage @ character select screen is 131.2 … map loading it goes as high as 189.3 (maybe higher but thats the highest I just saw it go) in game it is at 104.2.

That is a specific problem to you and how your computer runs.

It’s not a problem for Anet to fix through extra coding and development when they could be spending that money and time adding content.

There have been a lot of solutions given here already. Pick one and use it.

I don’t know how to say that without it coming off as being a butthead, I don’t mean it to sound flip, but there it is. Sorry if you take it the wrong way, it wasn’t meant to sound mean.

I really hope they bypass the entire raid and gear treadmill nonsense.

GW2 has enormous possibilities and for this game to be forced onto the railroad tracks of another game is ridiculous.

Let GW2 be GW2 and develop and evolve in it’s own way, on it’s own path.

Copying other games isn’t the only way for GW2 to grow.

Really, so far, the player base that I have met in this game are far above those I’ve met in another game. I would hate to see that nastiness/greed/selfishness bleed into GW2 because they suddenly started offering the same features.

I vote no to raids, no to gear treadmills. Just no.

More than 1 harvest from node a bug?

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Halanna.3927

For about the last week I’ve noticed I can harvest some trees, ore and food more than once.

For example I just harvested the same scallion node three times in a row getting scallions, onions then scallions.

Is this a bug or intended? After reading about all the bannings and account suspensions for “exploits” now I’m afraid this may be considered an ’exploit".

Problem is, I run around everywhere on two different characters and I can’t remember if I just harvested a specific node or not. I also can’t past up a harvesting node. I’ll spend 20 mins going into a cave just to harvest a mushroom. If a node lets me harvest again, I will until it disappears.

Is anyone else having this issue? Has anyone seen any Anet posts on this?

Exploit, bug or intended?

So far I’m not bothered by the loot drops, or perceived lack thereof. I haven’t started trying to get ‘endgame’ gear yet, so that might change.

What I am bothered by is I can’t seem to get enough cotton cloth or scraps! That is really driving me crazy.

If they continue to add garbage like RNG drops, or anything that reeks of another MMO’s loot system, cotton scraps won’t matter because I’ll stop playing and take my money I would spend on gem purchases and go somewhere else.

Why not just charge more for a crafted item?

in Crafting

Posted by: Halanna.3927

Halanna.3927

It’s the same reason why people post items on the outpost that would give less money than selling it to a vendor would.

I wonder about this several times a day. I’ll check the TP to see if a drop I received could be sold and there are hundreds if not thousands selling for less then the vendor price.

If something vendors for 58c and the listing fee is 2c you’d have to be able to sell it on the TP for 60c total to break even on the vendor, yet I see stuff like that listed all the time for 59c, so they are losing 1c over the vendor price.

It’s only 1c, but hey, it all adds up in the end. Especially with the high cost of WP’s.

Will WvW excluded from 100% map complete

Halanna.3927

It isn’t that it’s terribly difficult, but it is time consuming and to force a PvP aspect into a PvE activity doesn’t make much sense to me.

Map completition isn’t a PvE only activity,

And do you know why I can prove that? Because you need to complete the WvW map in order to get full map completition.

Considering how no one is forcing you to get 100% map completition, you get rewards for completing each PvE map, and if you want a Legendary you already need 500 Badges of Honor… There simply isn’t an issue here.

Nothing needs to be proved. I wasn’t being snarky, no reason for you to be.

The only part of the completion that requires PvP or going into areas that aren’t always available are the WvW maps. Everything else is purely PvE.

There is a small issue to those you don’t like PvP, or are on servers that can’t or don’t hold parts of the WvW map(s). It also disables the ability of the PvP teams on the WvW maps when pure PvE players are taking up slots just for map completion and not working with the team.

Lack of bacon is a design oversight that I’ve been sad about since launch. Bacon makes everything better so it makes sense that GW2 would only be improved with the addition.

I was thinking about the lack of pork the other day and maybe it’s being saved for a future expansion with cooking.

Pork roast, all the soups and stocks. all the things with bacon mentioned earlier.

Pork, duck, venison, wild fowl, fish, shrimp, scallops, hare. There seems to be a lot left for future expansions. Which is awesome if true. The cooking in this game is truly fun.

Cooking is bloated

in Crafting

I think the cooking is great! There isn’t bloat. There is logical progression to the recipes/discovery.

When you take it as a profession, the game warns you cooking will require more coin and karma then other professions,

Why does everything have to be easy and 1+1 and done?

For someone willing to take the time and enjoy this craft, I think it’s really well done. The recipes are intuitive. There are a ton of them.

I would HATE to see it nerfed or changed in any way because some people can’t take the time and patience to immerse themselves in a well thought out, more complicated than average aspect of the game.

I hope they make more ingredients, more recipes, more discovery!

If you don’t like cooking, harvest the materials, sell them and buy the cooked goods.

Don’t ruin a fun craft for the rest of the players.
