I’m going to go out there and say a strong: Yes.
My current planned Reaper is a power house of pain and that’s without being zerg.
The good thing with Reaper alone is our ability to dish out insane invul.. not as fast as the 1 second engi’s but very quickly none the less.. easily 25 stacks in under 10 seconds at a push (So even less then 10 seconds)
Although we have no access to party might we have still be given skills to use with combo fields now.. yes before/currently we have kitten all ways to use combo fields.
Not only that but Reaper has good ways to get might and maintain it as well from RS AA skill to our shout ult.
I’ve teamed with loads of people over my almost 3 years and pugged even more lol.. the ones i often team with look forward to my Reaper.
We looked at a possible good team build in HoT with the info we currently have and it’s something like:
Reaper, herald, Chrono, Scrapper (non gyro), + 1 spare
This covered fields, dps and boons.
Reaper for the immense dps (Not saying it’s now the best in game, just that’s it’s insane) Chrono for the skill rech/speed and scrapper for the continued vul up time fields and all out support/dps. with 1 spare to fit a support role/dps

Then by the same logic.. We can say all the high DPS you’ve been doing is an exploit and should be looked at/nerfed.
Just cos something does high damage on purpose doesnt make it an exploit… Take a condi cleanse.. if you’re in pvp which is my guess… a condi cleanse – at least one is a must.

Reaper shroud will tear into wvw zergs.. GS im not sure about… But definitely Reaper shroud will have a great place in zergs.

I’ll be honest here.. If this is meant to be serious.. it’s all wrong.
For one.. You’re using Precise Infusions.. They are waay too expensive for the reward you get for them. – Take them out.
From the looks of things, you’re running a zerker/minionmancer build with healing and condition duration.. Yet you have zero condition damage and the only condition-ish weapon you have is staff…
Zerker/MM don’t mix..
Your backpiece is different from everything.. and including the doubloon you have.. its a waste
Traits are all mixed up.. and as you havent said what this build is for.. ill generalize it.. you went bone minions and death magic but didnt take death nova.. bone minions are pointless then.
BM trait line.. blood bond is pointless, the rez would of been better as you dont do enough bleeding as staff is the only means.
You have the wrong heal as well.. as you have basically only 1 skill to transfer condi.. id go for CC
I mean.. i dont want to be mean dude, but this build is just messed up and wrong.
I guess you wanted to go minion mancer with power n healing.. but MM is a bunker style build play.. not zerker… if you went bunker then healing can work in the mix.

I agree tbh.. they really should of done another bank screenshot tbh.. alot has changed since bw1 and it would of been best to just wipe the bank and update it.. Now players know what to expect, it could of given the devs better feedback.. for example.. in fractals.

I’m also running soldier armor and i’ll be going with Trooper runes, which as i’ll be running at most 4 shouts it works great in mobs.. ofc it changes depending on mobs and when fight bosses.. but the runes still allow me other options else where stat wise.

Just wanted to give a big thanks to the work the devs have done for the Reaper. While we still need some tweaking done (hence beta’s :p) it’s a nice step for us imho in a DPS view.
Also want to share the thanks for the stab we have access to. While my revised honest opinion is we didn’t really need stab, just a few extra stun breaks, I’m still thankful for it.
I also want to give a MASSIVE thank you for the whirl finishers we now have access to.. we actually have the ability to use our own combo fields for ourselves.
Well of Blood – Light field = cleansing bolts.. good bye conditions
Dark fields- leeching bolts..
Spectral Wall – Etheral – confusion
Poison fields- poison lol
Plus with the well trait, makes them soo nice on a reaper.
Now we just need warhorn #4 to be a blast finisher :p
Now to the second part of this thread…
Now we’ve tested out and seen what GS is like on a necro, added with the shouts we’ve got… what would be your guess at the next necro weapon n ults to be given to us?
Personally I think Longbow or shortbow would be our next weapons to hit necro. This would give us range again (gs being melee) and longbow could be for either condi or power and shortbow being condi (typical shortbow attacks).
This would give necro more range options outside staff and be different to gs which is melee.
With this I think we could get Traps.. I’m going on the basis of ranger n guardian :p
Ofc we won’t know for very long time.. at least another year.. but it’s fun to guess now xD

Going by the same logic.. Can we please Nerf Direct DPS please… I’m feed up with being hit with insane numbers.
Now let’s look into your issue.. “by the time it wore off” Sounds like you need a Condi Clear.
“Confusion hit me for 2.5k” – Prop cos you didn’t dodge the sources of the confusion.. but let’s say you couldn’t.. again you need C.Clear… also learn how confusion works.. when you have confusion and you can’t get rid of it – Do not attack.. it does damage to you for every attack you do.
Again.. use a condi clear.. for everything else.. and if you’re not going to use any then suffer condi… Everyone by now should know in pvp or wvw to at least take 1 CC.
Back to my earlier nerf the direct dps.. why.. same argument as condi clear.. oh but i only have 1 heal. So DPS shouldnt be soo much.
Im not insulting.. honestly slightly sarcastic.. but it’s the basics of pvp and wvw.. you need a condi clear… PLUS people play condi.. before it wasn’t soo great.. which is why only a few classes were able to “just” be condi.. but they greatly increased them making them now viable.. You just need to change your style to match,

We either need a faster way to apply bleeding or change it. Which has been my thought for sometime now. Compared to how quickly others can apply conditions.. we lack a bit.
If we change it, torment is the only really ideal one.. burning would be too OP and same with poison. Plus the reason you gave is good. We aren’t mobile ourselves.. so we do conditions that punish those who try to be more mobile instead of standing face to face with us.
But I’m not sure how possible it is to change the main condi that is bleeding into torment… as in is it a weeks worth of work or a year. They would also have to see the numbers and make sure stacking torment wouldnt be too OP on a necro.

Sorry Atomic.. But the Hero weapons can only be brought using Tournament tickets. No other way.. and if there was going to be another way it would be WvW based only.. But I believe they will only be locked behind tournaments as a way to reward those who took place.
You’re just gonna have to wait for the next one.. which is in my honest opinion.. next year due to everyone working on HoT.

I’ll just quote another user in a different thread, who I think made a reasonable suggestion to modify axe:
All it needs is damage coefficient changed from 0.7 to 0.85, range on #1 and #2 increased from 600 to 900, and #2 be a whirl finish and #3 be a blast.
See that would make Axe awesome.. Not OP but more useful and less sucky as it does now.

The devs have stated long ago the reason other classes dont have “pet controls” is because that is a ranger ability and will remain that.
If other classes get ranger controls then there’s nothing special about ranger.
This is why the AI is more important for other classes as we can’t control them and they attack what we attack.
Will it change? I highly doubt it.

As someone who runs 49/50 fractals this is a g0d send. Having to take a trait..(wasting 2 traits was awful) I for one am glad about this.. and i don’t find having to place wells taxing at all.. i have my ults key bind so i only have to press the button and place it in a second. Wells in melee was suicidal.

I dunno. The shadowstepping downed allies thing could be big in some fights, as far as carrying pugs goes.
As far as high end pve goes, eh. There’s still reaper to hope for.

Actually you are wrong, we have to decide whether to take dmg modifiers or vulnerability traits. This is so bad.
8 might for 8 seconds on a big cooldown and utility slot? Pathetic. You blast a fire field 3 times and have 9 might for 20 seconds at the very least.
And what happens when you dont have fire fields :p

But OP, it’s cooldown is 5 seconds longer and it gives us some vuln after the cast! Necros don’t have any way to take advantage of that. Might as well just delete my character, uninstall the game, and drive my car into a lake.

Seriously are people still moaning about this and not thinking about it… If dots n dashs weren’t happening then Reaper would be OP as he11.
We dish out tons of chill and other effects… for the enemy to not get away would basically mean you’d have to range us to deal with us..
And we’re not rooted.. we can walk run and travel as well.. Plus they will still be chilled… We’re not doomed.. we’re not screwed.. you just have to be a smart player instead of mashing skills in one place..

I personally have all the weapons minus a scepter on me at all times and swap around depending on the fight.. mostly for mobs I have Axe/dagger Dagger warhorn.. but with bosses i change to focus (unless in frac 38 due to chill) Now.. when Reaper comes out i’ll be going GS but i’ll also keep the weapons on me (inc staff) and swap when I need them.. tho staff is more farming or wvw… to say whats the best to go with reaper is impossible.. there will be times you need to range something then melee… Fracs again.. and without an axe your stuck.. cos tbh staff doesn’t cut it, So while gs dagger warhorn is sweet there will be times u need axe.. also dont forget with the shout Reapers getting dagger OH #5 skill is even MORE weakness :P

I was wondering when SAB returns… or perhaps more into the future considering we have SAB weapons, could we get SAB Armour of a similar nature?
We can always earn them via the SAB levels and the harder the level the different colour, much like how weapons work now.

AI needs to be fixed and they also need to give necros at least a “Stop” command otherwise minionmancers will never be amazing dungeons etc cos the pets will continue to attack enemies when you dont want to … Asuran fractal – ooze for example.
