After entering Lion’s Arch for the first time, quit the game and start it again. Any time you switch maps, quit the game again. Since the beginning, the game has had resource issues. Switching maps and loading resources will increase your chances of crashing.

If you still crash when on a fresh game, lower all your settings, including sound quality, to their minimums and try again.

By crash, I assume you meant crash to desktop, as in the error popup with an option to report it, rather than crashing to character select, as in getting disconnected.

If you’re a tier 1 server player, you might see your queue number like #600 in line for this event. That would be really depressing.

Not as depressing as: Your queue is ready. Error.

For these zerg styled events, they really need to change how overflows work, or actually scale it down to 10 people. Having a bunch of half filled overflows just isn’t going to work. The soft caps need to be removed so that new ones aren’t created until they’re actually needed. A list of available overflows with their population (low, medium, high, full excluded) would be nice, but at the very least, overflows (for these events) need to merge in some way.

I was in an overflow for around 3 hours. I eventually logged off then back in to get a new overflow because it felt like the overflow was barely full the entire time I was there. I figured it might have been one of the last overflows created. I logged back in to find myself on the main server and was able to stay on main the rest of the night, even when switching maps.

I think there’s a problem with overflows. They need to add a visible queue, in the same way they did for WvW.

As long as the overflow is full however, there should be no problem completing this event.

I just tried it, stopped all attacks 5-10s early and confirmed every few seconds I had the right attunement. I did however AoE the invulnerable holograms, which I assumed might have caused it to fail. Next time I’ll try never attacking them at all.

Never came close to touching the laser. Didn’t get it either.

Tormented weapons weren’t hard to get. They were just another casual grind. All it takes to get them now is a hero team and c-space. You can practically play the entire game AFK with the right hero setup.

They plan on taking a break before releasing the feature patch, which is supposed to be like a bigger patch you would see in traditional MMOs. If the patch is really going to contain something major, which I doubt, you can bet there’ll be a lot of advertising along with it, which is usually done several weeks in advance.

The last living story will end on March 18th, which is also when the maintenance patch is. WvW season 2 starts on March 28th and lasts until May 16th. WvW isn’t meant to be balanced, so they could possibly drop the patch in the middle of it, whereas in comparison, if a SPvP tournament was going on, they wouldn’t. The patch could be as late as June, but I wouldn’t expect it to take any longer than that, since they like to always have an event running.

In short, the feature patch won’t be for another 1-3 months.

The ultimate bag, aka 1200, gives 5 heirlooms.

The standard (masterwork) citizen bag gives 1 heirloom.

40 from rubble piles.

The rubble piles will probably still be there after the patch, considering the event is still in the same place. The events should all be changed though and probably also the removal of citizens.

A full server stops being full when someone transfers off of it, or ArenaNet increases the server caps, which probably won’t happen again any time soon. It could stop being full at any moment, but it will be full again just as quickly.

What’s the reason for servers being completely full? Is it bodies logged into the server or is it everyone who has the server as it’s home server? My friend also just bought the game and is trying to get into JQ. Isn’t there a limit for time’s one can guest?

It’s based off of how many people have that server as their home server. You can guest to a maximum of 2 different servers per 24 hours and once selected, you can guest to those servers an unlimited amount of times within that 24 hour period.

With the way their servers are setup and overflows work, server capacity is meaningless. Showing a server as full is simply a means to populate other worlds and unlike other MMOs, is not because of a hardware limitation.

Every time someone complains about not reaching 1200 and states that the bag could contain 500+g in it, I think… and farming mobs could drop a precursor.

After saving thousands of civilians, opening around 20 of these bags and getting nothing, I don’t care.

A use all button would basically work like a double click macro, opening the stack 1 at a time until your inventory was full. Imagine the chaos it would create if it opened all the bags at once and popped up with a loot window, where if you were unable to claim all the loot, it would disappear in a few minutes.

Considering it would effectively be a macro, it would be a low priority feature because… you could just use a macro. I highly doubt they’d ever ban someone over opening bags with macro because: see how many people were banned in Gw1 for that reason.

This is so true, P2W means an item you can only get through real world money. And yet there is pages and pages about gemstore being P2W.

P2W also includes purchased items* that cannot be obtained through alternate methods within a reasonable amount of time. For that to be true here however, the item would have to either cost an absurd amount or for the exchange to crash.

Mindless zerging is inclusive, whereas organization is exclusive. The easiest path will always be taken and when none exists, participation will drop. You can’t teach nor is every player willing to put in the effort to be organized. Some players are simply not capable of playing that way.

If content becomes too difficult for the average player, it will simply die out. Look at the Marionette for example. After 4 weeks, people still failed to grasp the basics.

But how much data is being loaded has increased over the year. Loading into a zerg for example will greatly increase your load times.

In some cases, which I don’t think applies any more, your local data file can become bloated, multiplying your load times. This was reported quite a while ago, where

would become hundreds of megabytes, constantly increasing over time.

2. Isn’t going to happen. It’s not there to just annoy you. Back when it didn’t exist, people used to flip hundreds of thousands of items. This creates artificial strain on the trading post. Before you think, that’d take hours, you can flip that amount instantly using the API.

6. The search works by matching keywords and sorts in priority of containing keywords, unless you have manually sorted the search. If you search for “Berserker Emblazoned” the first results is exactly that. Do you only want to see items with Berserker AND Emblazoned?

7. That is a bug in their code. It’s seriously as simple as changing a “0” to a “1”. Considering they haven’t fixed it yet, they either have a brand new TP they’re working on, or the original API developer (who quit) was also the only remaining TP developer.

All of the filters in the trading post work as you would expect. The problem, the reason you get odd results is because of a display error. All the code is there, they just messed up on showing it to you. The fix is about as simple as fixing a spelling mistake.

As for the gathering and tools category, they’re a remnant. Tools were originally tradeable.

To make it a little more clear, I’ll give you a visual aid and a glimpse at a possibility – what if ArenaNet opened the trading post.

There’s a mystery “?” booster icon. Maybe they’ll convert them, though being in the PvP locker might cause a problem.

They reset with the daily, not 24 hours after you first looted them.

The more casual players don’t know what they’re looking for and don’t know about the 3rd party sites that provide the information for you.

Imagine leveling for the first time, hitting level 69 and wanting to finally buy some new armor, since you’re wearing level 42 stuff and haven’t had any drops. You look on the TP and filter it by level 65-75. You’ve got a lot of choices to look through and only a 1/3 of them you can actually use. Newer players may get a little confused, especially the first timers considering some players have asked what light/medium/heavy means and why they couldn’t equip what they bought off the TP.

I’m assuming you mean the Weapon subcategory. It’s actually misnamed and should be Jewels. The actual weapon category that contains sigils is the next one down.

All of the above are examples of actual working filter options. For whatever reason, ArenaNet has yet to make these filters selectable. It’s a simple copy/paste job, that’s it.

Personally, I think ArenaNet should “open” the trading post by finishing the API. Don’t bother with the TP in-game, use a 3rd party one. This way, the trading post will always include the most popular features, anyone could improve it and ArenaNet doesn’t have to do anything. eTP+2014, TBC

Some of the filters are misnamed. There are actually more filters than what is shown, but for whatever reason, they haven’t included them.

Always assume the use of special/temporary currency will be removed with the next patch. Take Scarlet’s lab for example.

Considering what the next patch is however, the refugees should still be at the camps. The vendors will most likely remain.

The achievement chests are also still giving them.

If they’re just going to remove them, they should add a vendor to trade them in for glory.

If they were going to sell legendary armor, they wouldn’t put it on the store because it would look too expensive, while publicizing it to everyone. 15k gems per piece on the store, or 1000 gold from a vendor.

The problem with major choices is that it would take too long to implement. Any choice made now couldn’t take effect until months from now, considering these stories are made several months in advance.

If they were to commonly add choices, they’d have to be fairly minor, with major choices being once an while and dictating future directions. For the escape, a choice could be who lives and who gets to die, based on the total amount of civilians saved game wide. They could have done a whole marketing thing around it, similar to what other games have done to encourage participation, but that would be pretty mean to have a hit list – save 30 million civilians or quaggan dies.

You didn’t factor in having to unlock or capture the skills, grinding out PvE-only skills to their maximum potential and having the money to buy the best upgrades to min/max that build. Don’t forget your poor heroes either.

Since you didn’t factor in all that grinding, I can only assume you’d be happy with legendary armor as the solution.

But yes, armor needs to change. Simply detach prefixes from armor and treat it like another rune. Put a majority of the cost on the core armor, making the prefixes cheap. Now you can cheaply swap stats.

I think they’ll improve the TP API to make more features accessible before they do any QoL changes.

Filtering by weight can already be done using 3rd party sites. Use these sites to look for what you want, then buy it in-game. Since there is a viable workaround, having this feature in-game would be considered a low priority.

Yea, it looks stupid, that you can roll over the field of fire or spikes and take no damage.

Use your imagination. Just because a simple dodge animation is played in-game doesn’t mean that’s what really happened. If there was a movie or something, anything that allowed for more detail, a simple roll would be replaced with strategic movements. Instead of rolling through spikes, you would see the character perform a dance between the vulnerable spots.

As for fire, you can if you’re quick enough.

Generally, the item’s name or description will tell you, assuming you have a basic understanding of the game.

• Items that say “consumable” are 1 time use.
• Consumable skins work as a transmutation stone the first time. A transmutation stone is required to use the skin again.
• Items with “permanent” in their name are permanent.
• Items with a duration in their name are temporary.
• Town clothes, instruments and toys are permanent.
• Items that state in their description that they are used in something, are 1 time use, such as the black lion key or mystic forge stone.
• Account updates are permanent

• The bag slot upgrade only applies to 1 character.
• The collection expander only increases the maximum stack size in your bank’s material storage.

Can’t organize in overflows? Then how can you organize on main servers? Both are equally full of random people and both could potentially be filled with organized groups.

If everyone knew to walk away if there are already 5-10 people participating, then everything would get completed, no organization required. For the less intelligent players, setup a fake commander somewhere to keep them entertained.

Yesterday, I came across a toxic miasma event with 3 minutes left that hadn’t been touched. I thought, there’s no way this is going to happen. A guardian ran in and pulled everything, so I thought, why not. With 5s remaining, the event was completed by 4 people. It’s only when you heavily zerg something that is becomes a true DPS race, because not only is everything now scaled for the zerg, a lot of those zerglings are doing terrible DPS and are constantly getting downed. This is a bigger problem with scaling and hard timers, where good DPS is forced to carry bad DPS.

Clearly, the dredge ate them.

There’s some civilians in the camps that didn’t quite make it though.

The gauntlet is a reoccurring event, so Liadri is coming back. It’s meant to be a skill challenge, so I doubt they’d nerf it, but if they did, there’d just be a new boss to take the top spot.

As for the jet pack, those specific rewards are intended as limited rewards you can only earn during that time, thus making them valuable. It wouldn’t be fair to the people who did earn jet packs for us to bring them back, and suddenly undercut their value entirely.

Once the arc is over, they probably will do a recap on the gem store. It’ll probably be one of those week long sales with a different item every day. I wouldn’t expect to see the molten stuff though, since they’ve already done an after sale for it.

There’s going to be a rather large downtime after the story is complete, so they’ll have to do something to keep the store active.

Solo’d it while leveling my thief, which was very under geared since I only equip drops. Only took a few minutes, so everyone should be able to do it.

Easy mode: Run in, attack it a few times and run out of the toxic AoE. Your health will reset but it won’t because it’ll still be trying to AoE you.

I wouldn’t be surprised if one day the patch notes read:

• The crafting recipe for Bloodstone Bricks now requires 1000 Piles of Bloodstone Dust.
• The crafting recipe for Empyreal Stars now requires 1000 Empyreal Fragments.
• The crafting recipe for Dragonite Ingots now requires 1000 Dragonite Ore.

… with the same excuse as silk.

From ArenaNet’s PoV, they would see this as a minor inconvenience to you vs as profit loss for them. People buy multiple copies to get around this. If they were to make it an unlock without any downsides, ArenaNet would have to offer refunds to these people as well as lose future profits.

The closest compromise would be an account wide bag slot to store these items in.

Personally, I think these items, including skins, should be unlocks, and stuff like boosters and minis should also be accessible through the UI, but I doubt it’ll ever happen.

I don’t think people care that it’s a “zodiac” armor set. I think people want the “most daring set” they’ve ever created, if you know what I mean. If people really want to remove the blue though, they can, client side only of course.

If saving civilians gave decent rewards, it would return to the tagging system. People would complain about having their civilians ninja’d.

There’s a lot of things that should be given UI options instead of being useable items. In this case however, I think they would like you to be a little inconvenienced in order to bait you into buying more for other characters. Some people will do this.

If they made a Living Story – Personal Story version, where at the end of each Living World arc they converted each part into a single step, they could nearly double the size of the personal story while allowing a historical play through. Although it would take resources to do it, it would certainly be better than simply deleting the content entirely and putting out recap stories for those that have missed it.

From a new player’s perspective, watching people run around on mounts would probably be far more entertaining than having drop zergs come out of nowhere and then vanish. Without waypoints, you’d actually get to see people travelling places.
