I’ve collected around 25 or so. They’re not worthless if you get them for free and if you’re opening chests, they’re a lot more useful than the gathering tools.

I use about 1 a month and at my current rate, I’m pretty sure I’ll never have to pay to repair again.

Innocents getting hit by bot banwave...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Healix.5819

Healix.5819

They don’t just randomly login and ban people. You would have been banned for whatever you’ve done over the past week to a month.

If you’ve been farming grawl during your entire play session for the last few days, then you’ve probably been reported every day. Since you were always in roughly the same area, your movements would have been flagged as bot-like.

If you haven’t done anything questionable, then chances are you’ve been banned for afking with a pet out or autocast on during an event at some point in time.

Unless ArenaNet got tired of bot complaints and have started banning accounts with more than <x> reports, a ban is never given without some kind of evidence to back it up.

Drop rate nerf?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Healix.5819

The price of stuff is rising because a ban wave hit at the start of the month. The thousands of bots that were seeding the market are no longer there.

The price of ectos is rising because the price of everything else is. The cost to make an ecto 2 weeks ago was 9s. Now it’s steadily rising to ~17s.

From my experience, rare drop rates have not changed and neither has the ecto salvage rate. I usually find about 1-2 every 3 hours and on some days, 0.

But now if you need 250 Bloods for a rare weapon, or crafting, or a legendary it will cost you 50g as opposed to the bot driven price of 6-7g.

I see… this thread is about cheaping out on legendaries. Fear not, like the seasons, the bots will come and go (ban waves).

How to greatly hinder gold sellers and buyers

in Suggestions

Posted by: Healix.5819

Healix.5819

This would only create a minor annoyance and cause the sellers to transfer gold 1 player per guild at a time. Even if you made it so they had to jump through 100 hoops to sell gold, they’d still do it. Don’t underestimate the gold sellers. Even if you made it impossible to transfer gold, they’d just switch and deal in either vendorable or highly traded items.

Only being able to transfer gold through guild banks hinders a small group of friends more than it does the sellers. A small guild could take a few weeks to get access to a guild bank whereas the sellers most likely has access to 100 bots on the server, all of which could be gaining the guild influence. Through those 100 bots, they could make hundreds of throwaway guilds.

As for tracking, tracking mailed money would be just as easy as tracking the guild bank.

In cursed shore when the defend the camps (Shelter’s Gate) event start, groups of 10-20 spawn a little ways away (south, down the road past the bridge), depending on how many people are defending the camp and what wave it’s on. When they initially spawn, they’re in a tight little group but they are invulnerable. The groups consist of all the different types of risen, so multiple pullers and knockbacks are in there.

Soloing the entire group is possible, but there’s no real point in pulling that many since AoE is capped.

At the temple of grenth, when it’s contested, you can run around and aggro everything there. The end with the boss contains immobilizers and you’ll have to LoS to gather everything, same with the other end, where you can hide around or in the little house.

In Frostgorge, it’s relatively easy to run down the path with all the grawl and aggro around 10 at time. I’d imagine the area with all the trolls in the center is the same, as long as you’re willing to deal with a few veterans.

Legendaries: worth getting?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Healix.5819

Healix.5819

imo, no, they’re not worth it. Legendaries should be obtained by feats that actually require skill and effort throughout multiple aspects of the game (like having to complete some hard jumping puzzle then soloing a profession specific encounter just to complete 1 step). In their current state a legendary only shows how much gold you have.

Soloing Group events when no one is around to help.

in Dynamic Events

Posted by: Healix.5819

Healix.5819

Some group events are simply just not soloable because they rely on having multiple players doing different things.

When it comes to soloing champions, it really depends on what profession you are and if you can counter it. For example, I once wanted to complete an event which required killing a champion elementalist that only spammed fireball. All I did was cast reflect and dodge every other one. The fireball hit for around 6k and took about 10 minutes to solo. Usually, people passing by will help, if they see you succeeding that is.

This is what the Temple of Grenth in Orr looks like when you’re alone. Some will come to help while others believe you’ll fail and move on. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRiG0Xj3pfs

When dungeons were first announced, they said explorables were the hardest content in the game and designed for a coordinated group of friends. During the betas, QA said that some of the dungeons paths were so difficult that their in-house team couldn’t complete them, but that was okay because they needed to be balanced for players that were better than them.

ArenaNet has two choices. Leave explorables PuGable or gradually make them more and more difficult as the game progresses. With the way things are going though, I would expect them to cater to the majority, leaving them easy and introducing a harder mode or even raids (as in the GW1 elite areas).

If you’re referring to the “one of the reasons it doesn’t exist” it’s because in theory there should be no need for an automatic queueing system. The system itself is designed so that anyone can fill the slot, so you should be able to go to <x> and instantly find others to fill the party, hence why it doesn’t exist.

The problem is, where is <x>? <x> is the missing tool that centralizes everyone wanting to do what you’re looking for.

I don’t understand people who say this game needs a dungeon finder. Since it requires no specific roles, I always form a dungeon group in at most five minutes. That’s way less time than I spend waiting in a dungeon finder queue.

If they actually implemented a dungeon finder, you wouldn’t even be in a queue. The second you hit join the queue would be ready. With everyone being labeled as DPS, the queues would constantly go off as long as a full party worth of people were queued.

One of the reasons it doesn’t exist.

Am I allowed to Auction off a reserved name for ingame currency?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Healix.5819

There’s usually nothing wrong with selling something in-game for something in-game.

The only rule they have that somewhat matches is “9. You may not buy, sell, transfer or auction … game Content, including … game characters …” It’s loose enough that it could apply, however it’s intended to only cover selling with real money, since it also says you’re not allowed to buy/sell/auction in-game items.

You’ll possibly have a very hard time attempting to give the name to someone else though. A deleted character is released after 24 hours, which may or may not be exact. All someone has to do is setup a macro to snipe the name. After all, if you’re publicly auctioning it, a lot of people will know the name.

I fully expect the later zones (ie, ring of fire) to be much worse.

Also, they originally said they would tweak/improve mob AI. Imagine if the risen intelligently moved away from AoEs and dodged attacks.

Healix.5819

If you want a challenge in DEs, then quit zerging them. For a start, go attempt to small group (3-4), duo or solo the temples in Orr. Only Lyssa and Melandru require a small group due to their mechanic.

The best thing about GW2 is quitting for a while. You can always come back whenever you want. December, new stuff, January, new stuff, a year from now, new expansion. The game could also completely change. Who knows, maybe the ring of fire will make Orr look like a joke.

By saying you only like hearts though, it sounds like you prefer either a linear experience, an obvious goal/reward or like being told what to do rather than exploring. As you probably know, GW2 relies on the player wanting to explore.

Why Orr brings out the worst in the "community"

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Healix.5819

I used to save people. I quit when the number of bots I’d see was vastly greater than the number of players. Now, I only help those who I either know aren’t bots or say something.

But when someone is running through with a pack of mobs on them, I don’t see it as a bad thing. The first thing I think is “ooh, a nicely rounded up pack of mobs” as I proceed to AoE it down.

Also, there is nothing wrong with Orr. Trying to run though the zone? Learn when to dodge.

Why is there Magic find?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Healix.5819

Healix.5819

I never used magic find on my way up to 80. One day, I decided to try it. I went from never finding rares to finding one every few hours. In comparison to normal gear, all I’m losing is survivability, but I’m no where near dying anyways, so it’s not an issue. I’m forced to wear magic find, else I’m wasting my time killing mobs, in the sense I know I’ll be losing out if I don’t wear it.

One of the biggest faults in the game is that you’re not rewarded for effort. It’s far too easy to just effortlessly zerg compared to soloing or doing it properly.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Multi-Boxing/first#post464016

See above post by ArenaNet regarding multi- boxing, it is an exploit. ArenaNet needs to make an official announcement in a high profile location regarding this exploit as there are still too many players under the impression that it is acceptable.

That’s not really ArenaNet (as in the ones who make the rules). Those CC guys are like 3rd party support to control the forums. Regardless, from the context, they’re referring to multiboxing as the multiple bots running around in sync.

If you multibox with 2 computers, 2 keyboards and 2 mice, what then? You’re not breaking any rules. Now connect the keyboard and mouse to both computers. You’re still not breaking any rules. I’d like to see them ban someone for running 2 accounts, moving 1 character, then the next, all done manually. If they did that, thousands of people would be banned for just sharing IP addresses, since multiboxing with multiple computers cannot be detected any other way.

The only rule (https://www.guildwars2.com/en/legal/) that actually has anything to do with multiboxing is 3rd party programs to automate gameplay functions. However, this only includes multiboxing when you have your keypresses setup to do different things on each client – such as a macro. Software multiboxing (using a program to mirror keypresses) is generally not considered automation.

If someone was to multibox 5 accounts in dungeons only, they’ll never get banned. They could even bot inside a dungeon and never get banned, unless they’re running a program on the watchlist. It’s not until someone reports you that it becomes an issue.

Either way, true multiboxing would be very difficult in GW2 since there’s no follow command. Eventually, the characters will become unsynced.

Story mode dungeons though, they should be balanced around a group of 4 bad players/3 ok players/2 good players/1 pro player. They are supposed to be about playing through the story right? Sounds casual. imo, explorables are easier than story modes, but I only did story modes once and at their intended level.

I assumed it affected everyone though, since the one time someone was with me, they also didn’t make it.

To fix this bug, you just have to leave the instance.

When you see the window coming a second time, the lightning will strike it and you jump. If you don’t want to judge by number of passes, you can watch the green mist rise above the gear below.

The box you need to jump into is rather large. Unless it’s bugged, you should always make it.
