Original gw1 gvg is 8v8. Why does everyone think its 15s and 20s?
Not to mention that the party limit is 5, thus 3 parties = 15. In GW1 you could have 8 in your party.

As one who has run with MU and lived to tell the tale, they run with around 15-20. They never gather 50 people. That’s what they want you(their opponent) to do.
Yep, until patches to the ranger class starts getting rangers asked to join in WvW’s reindeer games, the patches are meaningless. The patch must be meaningful and noticeable.
What happened with FC? Seems like someone forgot to put the Zerg in the Ferg today. You guys seemed a little less Zergilicious last week too.

And it’s sad when a ranger is leading a simple zerg that everyone was happy with only to have player who just arrived start going on about “A ranger commanding?” blah blah blah. No one was having any problem until that point and then the anti-ranger taunts came out.
ANeT – improve the ranger class to the point where no one would dare belittle its use. I personally only play a ranger in WvW. I command when needed as well. I’ve led groups on reset night – and been successful. No one complained.
But this anti-ranger attitude needs to cease. And the only way is for ANeT to stop favoring Warrior, Guardian, Thief, etc, etc. and do something major to the ranger in update. One that will surprise all classes with a truly “deadly” update.
How about shorten our barrage wait time by half? Make as powerful as superior arrow carts.
Increase Longbow and shortbow damage by 25% in all ranges.
Let us detect and target stealthed targets. We have pets you know(with higher senses than humans)?
ANeT just do something. Devs????
The key part is – what the heck is an illusion master doing wielding a great sword? Makes absolutely no sense.

With the video evidence showing rangers soloing Lupi and other mobs faster then warriors can, and videos of damage parsed from the combat log confirming they can out DPS warriors, I question some of your comments.
The problem I see with that though, is that these max DPS situations are limited to very specific builds, with very specific weapons.
As well, I think your grossly over estimating warrior damage. Personally, I feel they need to adjust Axes, short bow, and long bow damage a bit, and great sword and MH sword are fine.
Notice, I said PvE is no problem. Lupi is PvE mob, and rangers are very good, if not perfect for PvE. Lupi is an AI that is easy to predict and rangers don’t have to take the close up damage that he and his minions can do, while the warrior must contend with being pointblank on target. I’ve soloed Lupi at least 3 or 4 times…I should’ve recorded it – if I had that set up. Kiting is the key to AI mobs.
Ranger vs Warrior: No matter the DPS difference in the beginning of the fight, once a warrior has closed the distance, and they do this very fast(as do many other classes), the ranger’s DPS means nothing. All the DPS you’ve done has hardly affected the warrior and he Hammers you down and keeps you down. Kiting doesn’t work very well on players, since they have ways to reach you and will use them at every opportunity.
On a side note:
Classes like elementalist, mesmer and necromancer should have a massive damage nerf with any and all melee weapons.
Elementalists are spell casters not fighters.
Necromancers deal in undead minions, disease and life force draining and are not fighters.
Mesmers are illusion masters and shouldn’t even be able to lift a great sword.

Nice attempt at sarcasm, but you fail. It was molded on the D&D ranger, like almost every class named ranger, which ultimately leads back to Aragorn in LotR. So yes, it was molded after the wilderness warden archetype.
If rangers were truly modeled after D&D and Aragorn we would be truly feared. As it is rangers are shunned because they are said to be not effective and that other classes can basically do what rangers do and do them better.
To be truly modeled after D&D and Aragorn here are few ideas:
- Need a big damage buff in all weapons output that rivals warriors.(Say 10% less than the warrior for melee) And bow damage output should be unrivaled by any other class. Rangers should be truly feared by all at range.
- A natural 25% speed buff that doesn’t require signets. And add a signet that speed buffs allies in or out of party (5 max).
- The true ability to “take down” enemies at a distance.
- The ability to actually detect and target invisible foes.
- High resistance to any condition like disease or poison.
- Endurance regen should be boosted, not nerfed.
But these will never happen. And rangers will continue to be the laughingstock of PvP and WvW. As for playing PvE I never have a problem and one of my guildies always says rangers are overpowered.

I hope you realize that your and other servers does the same things. Difference is we don’t come to the forums looking for attention and to complain.
Not looking for attention. Just pointing it out. I expect our server to not act in this manner either. Last night we fought hard and won much. And the score reflects our work. The groups we ran with only salute the dead. At least they fought and died.
I must have been that necro’s first kill, that’s the way he/she/it acted. And he/she/it had help so I can’t see how they were so excited.
I look forward to more HoD victories over SF in the next couple of weeks.

To get an idea of how the ranger appeals to players look at WvW. I personally play a ranger exclusively in WvW – but the higher end tiers laugh at the notion of rangers in WvW. WvW has become bash this and bash that. Hammer time! They love Elementalists, Mesmers, Guardians, Warriors, and Necromancers. So two other classes are scarce and one of them is completely avoided in most cases – the Ranger.
I believe the ranger needs a massive boost to catch them up to all the boosts given to every other class. I still love how a friend of mine says that the ranger is over powered.
An example of continued nerfs. Endurance regen reduction. One of the appealing factors. You do realize a warrior can almost continually evade with his horn out, don’t you?
And no matter what changes seem to made to the thief and mesmer they always seems to gain in power while the ranger stays the same or is nerfed further.
I’ve seen a lot of good suggestions on how to make the ranger better – but I’m afraid they will fall on deaf ears.
Please make improvements to make the ranger a desired asset in WvW.
Yep. As a ranger I just “hate” hearing “Nice entangle” as the zerg I’m running with pummels the crud out of the poor fellows who are now not moving. Or, as I stay with the main zerg and outlast even the enemy warriors(most likely zerkers). A properly built ranger can survive and deal damage. People just gave up on them long ago due to nerfs. I’ve only ever played a ranger in WvW. I find commanders thankful as you take out siege on the wall, blast water ad fire zones, and do the things everyone else does in a zerg. WvW is a team sport after all.
The one thing I would want to see changed for a thief is for them to come out of stealth while spiking. Unless your class has a AOE knock back or move ability in the downed state a thief can spike you from stealth 100% and you can’t do anything about it.
My reasons are that when a thief goes into stealth they should not be able to do any damage. they are going into stealth to gain a situation advantage, then they come out of stealth to do the damage. stealth spiking just feels like cheating and I feel cheated when it happens to me.
Not to mention that spiking is a grand “Here I am! I’m going to end this toon’s life right in front of everyone to see! Look how great I am!” So the instant anyone under stealth hits that “F” key to spike they should become visible. Heck a thief should then have his stealth abilities hindered for a few seconds due to the grandiose act of spiking.

I didn’t think there were any other ranger commanders, other than myself.
Who cares about “good colors” or “bad colors”, HoD never gets to be red during the 7 weeks season. We are either blue or green the entire time. Something is out of whack on their match-up system.
HoD’s new secret weapon. “Leo” the Dolyak! He bravely soloed the SM gate. Only to be brutally killed by heartless pugs from FC. In this screen cap he just rammed the gate.

I’m slightly ashamed to admit this but I will be honest and admit that I recently transferred from NSP to HoD. I will be the first to also admit that this was a mistake and plan on going back to NSP at this end of this first week. However, I do have, in my opinion, some unbiased observations about HoD and for that matter FC after facing them on NSP and now on HoD.
First I will say that HoD has a lot of people. Way better numbers than what I ever saw on NSP and could rival most Silver League servers, at least in NA primetime. However, what they do with those numbers and how they utilize them is not that impressive. In EB it essentially equates to one massive zerg that runs around from one tower to the next. They don’t really upgrade towers, remotely even come close to laying siege effectively, slow response times, and a real lack of reacting to threats at two locations at once….even when they have the numbers to do so. They are currently relying on a massive numerical advantage but against any server in Silver League they would get destroyed.
I’m sure they won’t want to hear that but it’s the truth. They do have the potential to move up but they need to improve in those other areas in order to succeed. Even if they don’t need to do those things right now to win it would, at the very least, be good practice. The community seems good, people are nice enough, they have great numbers….but that stuff won’t be enough against Silver ranked servers. You have a much larger population than NSP and probably IoJ but I’d put money on either one of those servers beating you….and anyone above that wouldn’t even be close.
You gotta love the secret confessions of transfer. And after less than one week into the league season it’s time for you to transfer? You should just stick around and watch the situation evolve and participate in more than one aspect of WvW.
You do realize that your season reward will be based on how well HoD does, don’t you?

Mesmer: Descent into Madness: Fixed a bug with the Chaos Storm skill triggered by this trait to properly deal the correct damage.
DR, please take all of KN and HoD stuff so that NSP will be sent to silver league. Give some incentive for Devon (playing in NSP) to make wvw better.
Not trying to discredit Devonas’ but… that’s a rather tough ask don’t you think?

Thanks for the tip. We used this method and it worked. Now we just have to get past Slick and Sparki. They’re doable, we had Slick almost down, but failed many times and it was getting late so we decided to try later.
Everything seemed to be working last night on our second attempt, except to stupid turrets kept malfunctioning. Mine stopped working twice, and it took 30 seconds to get it working again each time. Got on and off the turret multiple times to no avail. This happened to several of us at the various points in the fight.
HoD got Teq down to about 55% tonight. We’ll try again Wednesday.
HoD is still trying. We start heavy into it around daily reset.
This is the typical YB scouting party. Small and quaint. No bigger than a thimble.
HoD finally got him to 75%, but we were so excited that we messed up the laser defense. Well, we’ll try again later.
Anet will have Tequatl join the larger server too.
Tequatl part:
Challenging: Yes
Fun: No – Reason: Need too many people, Too much coordination(though some should needed to force thought into victory) required.
Desire to accomplish event: High
Chance I’ll Repeat Multiple Time After Success: Low
Time Waste: Yes. Too many failed tries, too many people give up after it looks like no success is coming.
Poor Design: If you have to rely on a zergs/Teamspeak/bigger servers it is poorly designed.
Will it last: Probably not. It’ll go unchallenged after enough people complete it, leaving those who got stuck in overflow early on left staring at a blowhard dragon with no one to stop him.
Scarlet:
Nice improvement, could have been better. The simplest solution would have been to have the Aether Blades morale counter drop like the Clockwork Minions morale counter. Or make any champ count as half a captain on the morale bar if players try to not kill the other Aethers.
But once folks forget about Teq and realize they can get more reward from Scarlet’s invasion, Sparkfly will become a wasteland.
This is getting ridiculous.
So many people have given up on HOD.
The gates in LA used to be packed on reset night, tonight there was barely 30 people there at reset.
IOJ is light years ahead of us participation wise.
Just spent an not so fun two hours trying to make a difference with 25 people in HOD BL only to be creamed instantly in any fights by vastly more numerous IOJ zergs.
I don’t understand how anyone at Arenanet can look at this situation and think this is a good design.
I just don’t get it. We didn’t even have the outmanned thing going.
I guess HOD has turned into PVE only server, as this BL turnout was just sad.
When I port back to LA and see it packed with people it’s even more frustrating.
I had at least 20-25 pugs on me as I commanded along side VLK tonight in EB. So your observation is a little off. We did a two sided attack and diversion/defense operation. Had a great time facing the IoJ monster.
Yeah, 20 gold might deter a truly causal player. But after the “Scarlet Wars” everyone should have 20 gold just lying around waiting to by more yak sauce.
And yes, I believe we would want to send our best. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens. I just hope the unintended consequences I fear don’t come to fruition.

I can sort of agree with this. But I tend to look at the unintended consequences. This might drive people who are casual WvW’ers to sign up quickly so they have a chance at the prize. Other hardcore players might get left out because they didn’t press the mouse button to sign up fast enough.
But I agree with you for the most part. Something needs to be done to reward more competitive players. Maybe just scale the reward to how many of the achievements a player can accomplish during league play. Then you won’t need the Competitive and Casual servers. And maybe base the server’s performance on player achievement completion as well as score(or maybe that’s already the plan).
I was just leading a guardian and thief around for like 20m and it only ended when like 4 more people came. So hilarious. Warrior #1 mobility NA 2013

Honestly this just shows how there isn’t much for us to do in WvW. this week is gonna be so boring.
The old adage, “What if they held a zerg-fest and no one came?”* comes to mind. Remember, if you make everything green and no one comes to take it back you get no WXP, and thus WvW gets boring. Our two servers try, HoD and DH, but not much you can do when our small zergs, 15-20 on average(there are bigger ones), gets rolled by a sea of red. Blame ANeT. Wait for the leagues, it’ll get worse when you face a server like ET.

I don’t know if this has been mentioned, may have been – but if the reward after league play session has ended each time is based on how your server does…can you say massive transfers from smaller servers? A small server will have no chance to earn a big reward. Remember, it was stated that the better your server does thebigger your reward will be. They will be “punished” by ANeT for not having a big WvW presence. Folks who want to have a chance at a decent league reward will try to transfer to a server that has a better chance of winning.
This could be an unintended consequence that ANeT will create. Servers like ET will become ghost towns in WvW and the total population will probably drop significantly.
I state New HoD because you were able to compete with DH, Last time we played you, you were on par with us. So either you’ve gotten xfers, or have done major recruiting for your WvW on your server to field more numbers. Hence why you are New compared to last time :P
I think our beating DH was more that they have a huge population of less hardcore militiamen in PvE last week rather than out on the field. So while we’d see the big guilds out their supporting numbers were smaller.
If they could have seen our massive zergs in aetherblade farmlands last week they would have trembled in fear, until they went to WvW.
But anyway, great fights last night in our BL. Loved the nearly simultaneous attacks on our garrison by SF and IoJ.

Yay, I made another cameo appearance on another server screen capture. The lone Bronze Invader(CA) nearest you.
That was a fun fur-ball. We Stacked as the massive DH zerg circled. Then we engaged. Love your hammer guardian/warriors, DH. I love flying around with little or no effort. But I did get some vengeance of my own.

A simple solution is to have the aetherblade bar go down just like the minion bar. The more you kill the more the bar drops. Or at least have the end of the morale portion of the aetherblades have the bar actually drop like the captain makes the bar drop.
If you don’t need armor repaired you didn’t “die.” If I get “downed” in combat and rally I take no armor damage. You can only take armor damage if you “die.” Therefore the achievement wording is at least misleading. I think it should state “downed” if it actually means it.
So either change the wording to reflect the true goal of the achievement or fix the bug, which I reported after not getting credit when I didn’t “die.” I rallied from being “downed.” So in game terms I was successful according to the wording of the Playhouse Perfectionist achievement.
Another example of this is in WvW. You don’t get WXP or XP unless you actually “kill” the player. While he/she is downed you get nothing. So they haven’t died.
Why is the wxp boost soulbound? I happened to log onto a character I don’t use in WvW and happily pulled the booster from the mail. Then I swapped to main wvw character and discovered it was soulbound to another character. Hope they fix this – the booster will now just sit in my bank unused.

the HoD motto is you need at least 3 separate entrances into a tower/keep/camp/dolyak/sentry before you can take it.
regardless its been a fun week. to bad no one took up our offer of GvG’s :/ next time we face GoM im gonna nag you all to death :P hopefully we can get one with RH and maybe ASH? who knows

I thought they did that because they felt we put up a good fight and stayed to the end. I found it honorable, not audacious. A rare thing for sure, so I for one appreciated it (as I lay dead, twice, in the Lord room….good thing Outnumbered = no repair cost).

I’ve reported the bug for the broken armor hint at least 3 times.
Is there a secret to completing this achievement?
Stuck at 82/83 hints. I’m stuck on the broken armor hint. I’ve had broken armor several times in an attempt to finish the hint. Nothing seems to work. No hint pops up, the armor indicator flashes and I’ve repaired the armor. Still nothing.
Anyone?
