It’s honestly amazing that people are using the fact that i play daredevil to justify broken game mechanics. I cant imagine roaming on a class with less mobility considering how many people i have WP before even DD mobility can catch them. If you go outside with a kittenty build its your own god kitten fault.

This is the exact same reason that logging out while in combat counts you as dying. You should not be allowed to avoid playing the game just because you’re likely to loose in that situation.

Here’s something I’d want in return for your suggestion then. Since you want players to not be able to escape via WP and such, then let’s remove thief stealth during combat and all speedy escape methods from them as well. Oh, and no spiking from stealth either. I’m sick and tired of thieves stealthing away or using their short bow or other abilities to run away at the first sign of losing. Once thieves can’t run from a fight like that, then I’ll accept such a suggestion from you.

New Elites - Create Huge Lag

Tonight at reset the biggest thing we noticed was the huge lag caused by the numerous special effects the new elite skills created.

Before the PoF elites I didn’t have my screen inching along during a fight. I could actually see the ground during the large zerg fights. Can you tone down the effects, ANeT?

Not to mention all the special effects tend to lag my and my guildies’/friends’ entire game in the big fights. Before these new elites for PoF I didn’t have this problem. Turning off post processing doesn’t even help.

Dude, it removes 10 conditions. The active portion is buffed in any scenario where you aren’t with a couple of other party members and you’re all drowning in condis.

At that point you should be complaining about something else.

Core ranger keeps getting gutted and you say I should complain about something else? This was actually a huge nerf. The ranger signets were altered to the point that only one is truly useful. Signet of Stone remains the only real useful one. Waiting for ANeT to nerf that one too. Can’t have ranger’s surviving a thief attack now can we?

The other ranger ability that took a huge hit was condi removal.
Signet of Renewal was summarily destroyed. It’s old abilities of removing conditions every 10 seconds and a bunch on activation are now gone.
The CORE ranger has now lost stability and condi clear in one “balance” patch. Please don’t say “Then play druid” or “Soulbeast is coming”. The fact remains that the ranger overall has consistently been nerfed.

Yeah, I’m a little upset, but I figure it really won’t matter in the long run. I think it might be a little difficult for them to award those who have finished the tracks with skirmish tickets they missed. I was on the first diamond chest when the patch came out.

It takes 6570 tickets to buy the items, and another 1310 to buy the lower tier armor.

7880 / 365 = 22 weeks of wvw.

By comparison, it requires 150 legendary insights for raid armor, at a max of 13 per week, or 12 weeks of raids.

So it takes twice as long to obtain wvw legendary armor as raid armor.

I’ll still take it over having to put up with elitist attitudes in raids.

This doesn’t make any sense to me. Why does the stat allocation matter when the item states, “Transmute: Ardent Glorious Plate Helm”, for instance. This seems like a flawed thinking in how you’re pushing our legendary armor to WvW/PvPers. And if you already knew this to be the case then what’s the thought process on reacquiring the same gear we’ve already had?

The item listed after “Transmuted” is considered the original item. If your “Transmuted” item says “Ardent Glorious Plate Helm” it means you only changed the skin on the item, not reforged it in the Mystic Forge and it will be upgradable. When you reforge the stats in the MF, that item name changes to like “Transmuted: Yassith’s Breastplate” and that would not be upgradable.

The same thing happens with the ascended weapons that came with HoT specializations. I reforged Yldalir and now it says “Transmuted: Yassith’s Greatbow” and the skin is Arbiter Greatbow so I technically don’t have a Yldalir item anymore on my account.

Transmuting can still be upgraded. Transmuting is only changing the skin. “Reforged”, which is where you change the stats after you had originally selected them(i.e. Changed from Dire to Viper), cannot be upgraded.

When it says Ascended WvW armor, does this work for both T2 and T3 WvW armor? Or only T2 Ascended as most people might go for.

The two ascended versions are listed in the OP by the dev. So the answer would be “Yes.” If you want shiny armor with a fancy effect in combat you do the T3 version.

The unused pets still won’t be getting a boost as you will only be using them to absorb their abilities…

Sorry for the late reply. It’s not a source thing. It’s a “they couldn’t be bothered to fix the old pets with the release of HoT and I don’t expect them to do that here either” thing. What we have here is literally a way for them to sidestep making fixes to pets by making them a non factor outside of giving the rangers a few new abilities and stances. The new pets might be good but I don’t believe for one second – and history thus far bears this out – that they will invest resources into buffing/fixing the pets that aren’t used because they just aren’t good enough to compete with HoT or newer pets.

My feelings about the Soulbeast and the fantastically vague description they gave on the reveal and the lackluster animations I’ve seen thus far are that they really phoned it in on this class for the next expansion. I feel they are relying on the theme of the spec and it appeasing people who want to be petless to carry it instead of putting actual effort into the class or making real improvements for people who might opt out of using Soulbeast and have been waiting for fixes to pets for a while now.

That said, maybe Anet will surprise us and this is all just negative speculation that will come to naught.

As with the druid release I feel that the ranger is yet again getting the “Meh” treatment. With the lack of enthusiasm in the narration and the shear briefness of that very description does not bode well for the ranger. And Dagger? Really?

Now, druid did have a few aspects that I liked it fell short of what I was expecting. It was basically created for raids by raids and because of raids.

As I listened to the thief elite I was thinking “Wow, that’s the description of a ranger stalking his quarry in the wild.”

Well, I’ll hold out what little hope I have for the ranger elite, but my pessimism still holds strong here.

The dungeon elitists back then were mostly speed runners. The berserker builds had nothing to do with actually being successful in the dungeon. But when ANeT removed the money incentive that speed running dungeons was built around the dungeon elitists began to disappear.
The builds for raids however are meant to deal with the speed at which you need to defeat the boss. ANeT created this little thing called an enrage timer to create an artificial difficulty level. Instead of a boss fight that any class could enter and take down the boss in an enjoyable fight, you need to DPS the kitten out of the bosses or you die due to the enrage timer or the instant death timer.
As for fractals, they were meant to be quick mini-dungeons. But they have recently been edging closer to raid-like.

I have a couple of problems with this line of thinking. First and foremost. Stop lying about enrage timers. enrage timers are difficulty, nothing artificial about them. No level of mechanic, no matter how difficult, cannot be made easier by stopping, taking a step back, and chilling out for a moment before it happens. Or, even worse, by taking 10 people in nomads gear and ignoring all mechanics. The whole point of enrage timers is to force people to do the mechanics while still playing their class well, without cheesing it out through overly tanky kitten.

The second thing, all classes have the capability to beat enrage timers if played well. The enrage timers in this game are all super casual. There is a problem in that some classes increase team DPS by such a ridiculous margin that they are considered necessary, and that kittening sucks, but once those spots are filled, everyone can do it.

And the third, perhaps most important thing? Fractals don’t have them. It will be harder if it takes longer, and therefore you should be good at the game and have good gear, but taking a healer or something to make it easier is allowed. You will still be able to do it.

Also, I reject the notion that fractals should be minidungeons. They should just be dungeons. They were minidungeons because a full fractal was 4 put together. The problem with fractals isn’t Shattered is too long, although I do think nothing should ever be made longer then it. Its that molten duo and solid ocean and stuff like that is way too short.

I didn’t lie about anything. Any time you have to use an enrage timer to “force”(your words) a group to do certain mechanics is an artificial way to create difficulty. You just proved in your own words that enrage timers are artificial ways to create difficulty. I quote: “The whole point of enrage timers is to force people to do the mechanics”.

Tue fractals don’t have enrage timer: YET.

And I only posted what the guildwiki said about fractals. They are mini-dungeons. So whether you think they should or shouldn’t be is irrelevant.

Even though I have yet to do this new fractal I can agree with the OP and other concerned fractal players. Unlike raids, fractals should be any class, and puggable. There shouldn’t be meta builds like in raids. I’ve noticed that fractals – after doing Nightmare(CM) and Chaos to a degree – are getting closer to raid-lite(or heavy).

ANeT, like dungeons are completely different from fractals, fractals should be completely different from raids. Unless you’re going to start making legendary armor available through fractals. And as stated in the guildwiki – Fractals are supposed to be a mini-dungeon. They are getting closer and closer to raids.

Fractal Definition: Fractals of the Mists is a special type of dungeon that consists of an array of mini-dungeons called fractals, where each fractal has its own story and environment. The dungeon has some unique mechanics and design.

Raid definition: Raids are 10 player squad-based PvE instances focusing on challenging combat and mechanics, designed for level 80 characters. Each raid encounter typically utilises multiple phases with several unique mechanics, which test your squad’s coordination, damage output and positioning. Many encounters include an enrage timer: if the encounter isn’t finished by the time it runs out, the incoming damage will greatly increase. Certain masteries may also be required for some encounters to complete.

Dungeon: Dungeons are optional party-based PvE instances, each with their own story. There are currently nine dungeons. All dungeons except Fractals of the Mists and the special event dungeons have two modes: a story mode, which focuses on the story of the Destiny’s Edge group, and an explorable mode, a more difficult mode which requires more co-ordination to play through and is unlocked after completing story mode. Each mode allows for groups of up to five players; content does not scale depending on the number of players in the party so the difficulty remains constant.

Make it like PvP, you can keep your look.

I have a WAY BETTER idea then that.

Remove the amulet system in PvP and replace it with regular gear + consumables. Bring back the build diversity and fun, so that some of us might actually go back to it for novelty if nothing else.

There is currently a big skill lag issue happening in Siren’s Landing. Many people are posting in Map Chat about it. I was experiencing 2-5 second skill lag and affects plus movement of players and mobs on the map.

I guess my saying “All the while when I was running back I was receiving loot and xp” flew right under your nose. Please read my post if you’re going to make an assumption. I NEVER said “SIT AT WP AND COLLECT BAGS.”(again, subtle enough for you?). If you’re too lazy to WP and run back and instead wait for a rez – unless your commander says not to WP – you don’t deserve any bags that drop while you lay there.

No, you didnt, however do people deserve any if they respawn and sit there? because that can and does happen, and if your happy to run across the map with a little chance of rejoining a battle, then why arent you happy with people sitting at spawn collecting? its the same thing isnt it? because i realise that people follow a commander and do what they say, but what if they just want to play the game? what is the difference between someone making a decision going " ill wait to be rez’d because we’re going to win and not collecting bags" and someone going “im dead and were going to win ill rez and run back” – both are sound tactical decisions, why should 1 be rewarded for effort previously done and not the other?

First of all, most people who WP right away tend to try and rejoin the battle. The truly lazy people lie there dead and don’t collect anything. In rare cases you have some just sit at spawn – very rare. Therefore I don’t care about the rare cases. If you are willing to port and come back in an attempt to rejoin the fight I fully support you getting the loot from those you tagged. If your commander knows you will win the fight and says don’ t port I also have no problem at that point if people lie there. But I’ve seen the truly lazy players who lie there in a fight right next to spawn. For those players – they can lose their loot since they can’t bring it upon themselves to port. So, again, for those who WP and try to run back – they should get their loot. Nuff said.

The only issue i see with this is that if you die – and WP you gain the bags/loot from the tagging you’ve done – you’ve removed yourself from the fight and yet are still getting loot – how is it different from being dead? – if your zerg wins happy days you get rev’d, if you respawn and just sit and wait (or run back to the zerg) you still gain the loot?

I mean that would be a better idea, but I guess its Anet’s way of meeting us half way. But OP wants a mile after being given an inch.

And we veterans remember the days where you had to pick up each individual piece of loot. There was no area looting, let alone, auto-loot. So my advice to the OP is to port immediately on death and make your way back as quickly as possible. I’ve done that and was able to get several bags that dropped while I was clicking on the wp to revive. All the while when I was running back I was receiving loot and xp.

congratulations – the subtle point i was making was that the auto loot should have an AOE to STOP people porting and gaining. i guess it was too subtle for you.

I guess my not reading every single post here and giving my opinion was too subtle for you. I support people running back and gaining any current loot dropped while they are running back. I guess you missed that subtle point. I do not support getting loot while you lie on the ground dead. But hey, I guess my pointing it out blatantly was too subtle for you.

SO..to clarify, you’re ok if people respawn and just sit in spawn collecting bags(or running back) from enemies they’ve tagged, in no way helping? but not if they sit down dead waiting for a rez on the off chance their zerg wins? and thus having numbers improved quickly instead of having to wait for the dead to run back?

Tournament Tickets.

Super Adventure Box continue Coins/baubles/bauble bubbles and leather(so much is now needed but they created ways to trade in thousands to vendors to get shiny back pieces and other things). Sure leather drops, but not very well for certain types, plus they upped how much it takes of the base leather(like thick leather) to make a processed one. If you traded in all that excess leather thinking it was useless back then, now you are probably kicking yourself. That’s why many of my guildies horde so many items and materials. ANeT seems to always come out with something to use them on later – after most people have destroyed them or bulk traded them.

I thought bags in chests for potions in chests in bags in chests were bad…
I though reward-track chest a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h,i,j,k,… were bad…

But now I have 100 Skirmish Chest.
double-click to open, selecting an item, confirm, really confirm, getting a chest (tactics) that contain items I need to double-click. But! Don’t click too fast on them or your chat will be spammed…

Yet another person who lets chests build up and then complains it’s going to take a long time to open them all. Hint: Open after you’re done with WvW for the day or at anytime there’s break in the action – Bag cleaning, merchant selling, bathroom breaks by the group, etc. There are tons of opportunities open these chests and not let them pile up. There is one thing I wish would change about the new skirmish chest – allow double-click on what you pick instead of double-click, pick and “yes”.

It’s not that we can’t do it while running from here to there, it’s that we are SICK OF IT. It’s a tedious repetitive chore that can and should be made easier. IF the gem store offered some device to reduce all that clicking I bet most of the naysayers here would buy it.

The worst offender is the 50 different kinds of chests they throw at us because there are to many to leave unopened until the end of your run. If they could simply make a device that stacked chests and got rid of the in your face popup to stop the stupid jiggling chests that would make things much better.

I love getting rewards. Each chest in a reward track is different because it drops different types of loot from different areas of the game. The system needs to be that way so it drops the correct loot for the reward track. The So I guess for those who are tired of having to open rewards ANeT should add the option of “I want no rewards” to solve this laziness. If they add that you no longer have to complain about your inventory being full.

There is no Consume All option for chests, or bags within those chests. You have to double click on every item to open.

I have give or take 5,000 boxes in my inventory. So there are 10,000+ unrewarding clicks looming in my near future. How is that for a good, modern UI design?

If you let 5000 boxes pile up in your inventory then the problem is YOU. My inventory is nice and clean becaue I’m not trying to brag about how many boxes I have. So, my advice to you is, clean up your inventory regularly during WvW and don’t let the boxes pile up.

So when I get rewarded (hurray!) I would CLICK on the box flashing on the right hand side of the screen. Then I would be rewarded (hurray!) with a huge popup window smack in the middle of the screen blocking my view and interrupting my play. I would have to CLICK on the popup window to have the box added to my inventory. Then I would go open my inventory by CLICK on the inventory symbol. To locate the box I would CLICK and drag the scrollbar. Once the reward box is in view I would CLICK-CLICK on it to open it to be rewarded by (hurray!) a blue armor piece and another bag…

All those clicks for every single reward box? Your advise is not helpful.

You click after combat has ended. That much should be obvious. And when there is a lull in the action, like running along to a target or at spawn(or in a keep or tower) you can clean out the trash in your inventory. At the end of your WvW for the day you open all the boxes that are stored in your inventory. I’m amazed that I actually have to type out the simplest procedure ever known to gamers.

You do realize you have clicked on those chests 10,000+ times already – more if you are above average active player. That is a lot of time taken away from actually playing WvW.

I don’t want to go: “everyone stop the warfare I am sorting my inventory”.

As for the routines, I do spend 10 minutes every time I log in only to clear the inventory. Not because I enjoy it. But because if I don’t I will get encumbered and I can no longer play the game mode I do enjoy. How is that for good game design?

Sigh. There is always time in between combat and taking things. There is always time before you leave WvW. Spend the time before you log out or when there is a lull in the action. Takes less than 2 minutes to salvage and right-click deposit all(as long as you aren’t full). Maybe take 5 minutes total if you have a merchant. Geez, are you so hyper that you can’t take 5 minutes to clear bags? We do it all the time in WvW. I can clean bags while moving from destination to destination. I can clear bags with ease. I don’t see the problem here. You seem to be creating your own problem by refusing to think for yourself.

You’ve obviously never heard of roaming. Its OK to leave the blob once in a while to press a button other than “1”.

I do far more than press 1. That’s how I get so much exp in large fights. Those who press 1 don’t get as much. A 1,1,1,1,1 player doesn’t last that long in a big fight. I’m quite high in rank in WvW.

I looked at the chart and one thing caught my eye. “1.5 ranks per hour”. Players who are active can gain far more than 1.5 per hour. I’ve earned 3 ranks in just one 5-10 min fight. But if players just do the minimum effort I can see 1.5 making sense.

Another update to pip acquisition could be a true loyalty bonus. Do the 3 weeks part but then add 1 pip per 3 months a player has been on a server – and make it retroactive. Max it out at a 3 or 4 pip bonus. This will help newcomers who have never left their servers.

Another idea is to make the spawn area a no pip zone. While you are there you get nothing.

This would cause people to not WP there after they’re killed if it’s close to the next tick. Or they’ll AFK at a keep.

Fine, make it 2 minutes. That way they can port to spawn to move to defend stuff and not lose points.

Correct. Kam, you are making two choices here.
-1. To get the tickets in the first place.
-2. To try to hit the cap.

The game doesn’t require either. Don’t do it as ‘a second job’. Do it because you want to, and the difference between now and 6 months ago, is that there IS a reward for the time you DO put in.

Not only time you DO put in, but time you DID put in.

I think a nice idea to stop all of this bickering would be to have a chance for skirmish tickets to drop from players and lords of towers, keeps and Stonemist. 1-5 tickets, like badges of honor.

But to those complaining about reward tied to rank – simply capping camps will not rank you up very fast. You need to run with the commanders and learn what is really done in WvW. Learn about building siege, getting supplies, staying alive, builds for WvW, and how fun it can actually be to be in WvW. You’ll actually stop worrying about the pips while you play. And before you know it you’ll have played long enough to get the new shinies.

On a side note – many commanders want people in TS or Discord with them. They advertise it. You don’t need to talk(mute your microphone), just listen to the commander and you will know what is going on and won’t be left behind.(Don’t bring up not wanting to hear bad language and the like, that isn’t what I’m discussing. There’s a whole thread dedicated to that already). Join a guild that does WvW – they will gladly help you get outfitted and tell you the most effective builds.

Yes, running to 2 objectives and hitting the interact button.. So tough!!! WvW so hard guys! Stop trying to make this deeper than what it actually is , WvW is easy as hell.

Um, apparently you have never run into any player groups on the map that stop you from taking objectives. The only interact button is with siege – you apparently also have never really done much other than sit at spawn after getting some participation. I’m sure plenty of players would love to show you their finishers.

Um, correct me if I’m wrong but these are rewards exclusive to WvW. So, obviously they must dedicate more hours of play time per week in WvW if they want to get the new shiny armor. Also, not all veterans got instant access to all the armor types. Some require the player to be 2000 in rank. But the bottom line here is if the players that are now suddenly wanting to get the new shiny armor must put in the hours that the veterans put in to get where they are now. Just like with raids – put in the time, get good, be successful and get the shiny new armor. And for the back piece the players new to WvW will also need 300 gold to buy a commander tag if they haven’t done so already.
Let’s not forget the cost to get the new shiny armor either – lots of skirmish tickets(capped per week), gold and memories of battle(comes from reward tracks). No player had automatic access without the currency types needed.

My advice – instead of complaining about the pip system for hours and hours here, get into WvW and earn your ranks. Glory awaits.

Complainers of this sort will just find something else to complain about. Caving to the complaints only sets a precedent for the next time. It’s one reason why we see entitled demands so much.

I get the frustration behind your comment. However, PvE-preference players with “gotta get it now” attitudes should think about why it’s good for the health of the game for some rewards to be put into other modes. Not that I expect all such people to get it, but maybe some do.

Thanks for proving my point. Maybe, just maybe pip acquisition is at it is to reward people who’ve been playing WvW for years with little reward. The fact that someone who hasn’t put in that time in the mode can get it with — in many cases — a lot less of a time commitment than many of those WvW vets have already put in is already more than fair. If the time needed is too much for you, then maybe, just maybe, this reward is not for you.

One of the things that ANeT removed from the game that used to be at the vendor in WvW is the WVW EXP potions. You should complain to them for removing those. It was a quick to gain Ranks back in the day.

As for complaining about the number of pips received by veteran players, you should direct your goal to raising the number of basic pips you receive before ranks. Do that instead of trying to bring down other players and maybe you might garner support from veterans who see this thread as non-wvw players trying to get pips easily instead of putting in the work we’ve done. ANeT actually made ranks mean something, other than a target for the enemy to take down.

I’m a Mithril Assaulter(around 4250 rank) – I play all modes except pvp. I also have nearly 28500 AP. I played primarily pve up until 2 years ago. I dabbled in WvW when I had the time. Whenever new content is released WvW becomes secondary. But needless to say, I’ve put in my time, earned my rank and command 3-4 times a week. For the OP to come in and say that high ranked players shouldn’t get the bonuses ANeT has set is a complete insult to all who have put in hours playing WvW. Like I said, the OP should argue for more basic pip points not the bringing down of players to his/her level.

Oh, and did the OP realize that if you want to get the Legendary Backpack you need a commander’s tag. 300 gold. Can’t wait to hear the complaints about having to buy something they don’t even want to use.
