Could you plz also list your HP and Crit chance? The ridiculously high armor is really nice but I’m wondering if it comes at a cost? If hp is low conditions (esp condition necro) could be troublesome, and thieves and eles too lol.

But from face value stats look nice.

No worries, the health was 18.5k with either weapon on, and critical chance was 44%.

Your build looks interesting. How important is Prismatic Understanding (Chaos, XII)? I’d love to find a way to get 5 points into illusions.

This grants further boons for you and an improvement to your stealth, it becomes quite useful when on the run with using decoy and veil, to gain more stealth duration and some defensive boons.

So we got most other stuff on our orbs and jewels, and the new vitality/power/toughness is a good one
Only one thing is missing; Power toughness and critical damage.
This would be a great value to me and many others if it was added plz work on it!

SBI and CD are good servers to go to, they need more people too. Mainly CD needs NA.
T5 I also recommend Ehmry Bay, they are a nice NA/Oceanic server and have skillful players.

At anything higher than T4 including SoS, please stop posting, the OP clearly says low tier servers. FA and JQ have enough bandwaggoners anyway.

I actually didn’t see that yet. Hmm, so you typically run with the staff and then S/P for most battles? Do you have any vids on YouTube?

Not yet, Don’t know any free and easy to use recording programs, provide me some links so I can get to it.

Anyway sword/pistol with staff is great to be offensive and defensive at the same time, containing 3000 attack and over 3300 defense.

It often glitches up in different ways.
Sometimes it doesn’t summon at all,
Sometimes it summons and does his leap on the spot where he was summoned at, and does not leap to your foe,
Sometimes it summons and leaps only half way.
Yes its annoying.

Note:
Boons durations are increased by 30% from original, due to 30 trait points into chaos. This is the accurate duration they give, and the abilities that cause them.

CONDITIONS
Bleeding – From auto attack staff, and the 15 point trait in dueling.
Burning – From auto attack staff.
Vulnerability – From auto attack sword and staff, and 5 point trait in domination.
Poison – Random on Chaos Storm.
Chill – Random on Chaos Storm.
Weakness – Random on Chaos Storm.
Confusion – Random on Chaos Armor.
Blindness – Random on Chaos Armor.
Cripple – Sword ability #3 on summoning clone, and random on Chaos Armor.

CONDITION REMOVAL
Trait IV on inspiration, healing skill removes a condition is your only ability, if you prefer more, you should swap Veil for Null Field, where you can still gain Chaos Armor with leap finishers in.

FOOD BUFFS
Superior sharpening stones are important, to grant you a great amount of power thanks to gaining 6% of your huge toughness, and 4% of your vitality.
Omnomberry Bread is also important, as of a large health boost and a good toughness boost. This will bring your toughness over 2400 !

THE MULTI BUILD

Intro/Starter:
This build is a spec for a mesmer for 1vs1 WvW fights, dungeons and general PvE, can be used in zerg wvw. It is a mix of superior high toughness with moderate damage, and critical hits. Refrain from any rude or flaming comments.

UTILITIES AND ELITE
The healing skill you use can be of your choice, it does not affect this build greatly.

Utilities: You will need stealth skills for more survivability. Use Veil and Decoy as your stealth skills covering 2 utility slots, they will be handy in escapes and surprise attacks. Make use of the fact that Veil is a combo field! Use your physical projectiles and leaps on it. Use Blink as a form of quick escape, more efficient when use in stealth, as of you can blink behind your enemies in retreat while in stealth, and continue going that direction, and they will be chasing the wrong way.

Elite Skill: Mass Invisibility is more of a choice if you are roaming or PvE’ing. It is a powerful stealth skill, and can be great for escapes or suprise attacks. Since of its cast time, its best to use a minor stealth skills Decoy or Veil, and using Mass Invisibility while in stealth from those skills.

ARMOR
All armor must be knight armor, to start of the multi damage/defense build, (Power, Precision, Toughness). Use a full set of Earth runes inside them as of protection is used a lot in this build and reflection is important, as well as additional toughness.

WEAPONS
All your weapons must be Knight-type as well. (Power, Precision, Toughness).

Staff (Sigil of Hydrometry) This is your defensive weapon. You find that you are outnumbered, or getting hurt badly. Your nearby foes will be slowed for 3 seconds thanks to your sigil when you switch to the staff. This will enable more time for escaping or maneuvering. I recommend placing a Chaos Storm around yourself and your foe, then using Phase Retreat for more defensive ability. Soon as you use Phase retreat, you are ready to start running. The phase retreat use while in the Chaos Storm will provide you with Chaos Armor, so when the enemy starts hitting you, they will only help you by giving you speed and health regeneration.

Sword and Pistol (Sigil of Battle, and Sigil of Perception) These are your offensive weapons, use them at the beginning of fights, or when you are winning. Use the basic sword tactic, double use of #3 and then a good Blurred Frenzy hit to cause damage, and if you see your enemy coming, and you are both running up to each other, use Phantasmal Duelist first thing when your enemy is around 1300-1400 range, its your start burst and a 1s cast, also applying multiple stacks of bleeding for your enemy to suffer the full duration of unless removed. When in retreat, occasionally using Sword skill #3 is a good way to slow your enemy when they are pursuing you, and using Blurred Frenzy as a source of invulnerability. Pistol Skill #4 & #5 is also very handy in ethereal fields (Veil or Chaos Storm) to apply stacks of Confusion. Make sure your duelist will fire within the combo field area though or confusion will not be applied.

TRINKETS
To make the precision worth it, you will need some crititical damage to match it. The karma merchant in Straights of Devastation, Temple of Balthazar has Cavalier’s trinkets. These have moderate power, high toughness, and critical damage, these will be needed also. Thanks to the recent patch, instead of adding crests of the soldiers, we have the Azurite jewels for more toughness and power, yet adding some health. Use Azurite jewels in all of your trinkets.

TRAITS
Domination – 10 points; Trait III.
Dueling – 20 points; Trait II, and X.
Chaos – 30 points; Trait III, X, and XII.
Inspiration – 10 points, Trait IV.
Illusions – 0 points.

I use a focus and have 95% boon duration and get 23 + 3/4 seconds of swiftness. Trait reduce focus cooldowns by 20% (Makes it 20s CD) Easy perma swiftness.
Done by:
Choc omn cream (20% boon duration, 40% magic find with boon)
30 trait points into chaos: +30% boon duration
2x super water rune +15%
2x major water rune +10%
2x major monk rune +10% (AC is super hard, cbf running 4x for 2x super monk rune).
Signet of midnight +10% boon duration.

Yup, mesmers have to wreck everything and grind their kitten on disadvantages to get their perma swiftness, while thieves, eles, necros, and rangers just use one utility slot to have perma swiftnes (only 8% slower, who gives a crap).

Mesmer Blink talent not working?

Blink is bugged, but this way is not a bug, if you could blink anywhere, you could just blink onto the walls of a keep. Common Sense.
The appropriate place to blink must be somewhere that:
-requires no jumping
-is not blocked (eg: keep gate, walls)
-is on land.

Real Bug: about a 1/10 chance, blink will teleport you to the location (if its an appropriate location) for about 1/2 of a second, then teleport you back to your original place. This bug has been around for months and Anet prefer nerfing a perfectly fine skill than fixing really annoying bugs like this.

WTF is so bad about confusion? IT ONLY KILLS IDIOTS! Smart people will use the thing idiot heartseeker spammers will never dream of: CONDITION REMOVAL, a PAUSE of spamming heartseeker and DODGE ROLLING instead.
Not OP, its just idiot spammers killed themselves with their own overpowered (for some reason, NOT NERFED: heartseeker and cloak and daggor, or hammer warriors).

Rest in Peace tactical overpowered-skill-backfiring techniques, as they are useless as of heartseeker spammers will spam their heartseeker 5 times to down you while they have 50% health left due to 1-1.5k confusion hits.

After patch current top 3 wvw classes

Before: 1# Thief (as always) #2 Mesmer (glamour builds) #3 Elementallist (superior AoE)

After: 1# Thief (still haven’t nerfed heartseeker -.- ) #2 Guardian (superior healing) #3 Mesmer (badly nerfed)

Why it changed:
Thieves are still overpowered and will stay because they denny that heartseeker spammers are completely easy to counter (steal- 3k heartseeker- 3k, 4k, 6k, 6k), apparently isnt overpowered. The steal nerf was good, but that other skills are far too powerful. Cloak and Dagger should have a nerf too, its a source of stealth, enemy vulnerability, AND deals 6k damage on crits.
Mesmers had a HUGE nerf which ruined every confusion build as of its damage is crap now, losing their zerg popularity.
Elementallist had a HUGE nerf as well which stuff RTL up for zerg travel, and skills while in mist form and many other things.

No and No. These two servers have perfectly fine North American timezone, and don’t need more.
True and fair people will advice servers other than their own.
My advice is to go Crystal Desert, they have bad NA and need a big improvement, or Dragonbrand.

JQ needs more wvw NA guilds. JQ is mostly a PVE server with awesome commanders who can win fights out manned. That’s how we have been #1. Our tactics on that server are superior. But, right now with all the transfers to Blackgate by HUGE ZERG guilds we can’t keep up. There rarely is a que on any map during any time zone. When there is a que it’s only 5 min.

Blackgate hasn’t received pure zerg transfers, JQ are just scared of not winning for the first time. All tier 1 servers are super zergy. Blackgate puts full force into one or two borderlands like today, but leaving other areas vulnerable. I admit, Blackgate has received transfers, so has Jade Quarry, but mainly SoR. JQ is in first place, I strongly disagree they need more people.
Servers with low NA courage would need the large NA guild much more than any tier 1 or even tier 2 server.

- when an enemy is approaching for a 1v1, you plonk your first part down and then drag the enemy away and: if you win, you win. if you are gonna die, you can put the second part down and get away.
I agree, its not fair since you are EXPECTED to portal people when they ask, like in jumping puzzles your allies /sleep /sit on the ground drinking their coke and eating their mcdonalds, slumping on there chairs while they just have to press F and be like 90% up. Replace it with a nice dps AoE or a swiftness ability plz

They can’t hold a gun to your head and demand that you use portal. You CAN say no! It is your skill. If they don’t like it, play with people that won’t give you flak for playing the way you want to. It is a game afterall. If you’re not having fun, you’re not doing it right.

On the flipside, if you join a CoF speedrun, you are willingly accepting your role and all the responsibilities that come with it. It would be unethical to refuse to use portal when you have joined on the assumption that competing the dungeon as fast as possible is the ultimate goal.

Makes sense, i am normally a generous player and i portal ppl up on jps and do p1 cof fine, though its just annoying like in JPs your allies dont have to do anything when we have to jump and take our time on the jumping puzzle. they sit there drinking coke eating their mcdonalds and KFC slumped on the chair going: wheres the portal?

Blink is great in wvw, say you are near the vista island at the beach area a bit north of the vista, you can blink up the cliff lol and thats how i escape enemies hahaha

I play a confusion mesmer to give it a go. I am on a tier 1 server blackgate with decent people, and they aren’t stupid like the people who whine on its overpowered. When I get over 10 stacks on them, they use a magical thing that all the whiners dont use: CONDITION REMOVAL.
I usually hit them for around 1-3k with 3-11 stacks at most. It is not OP, its easy to remove and it doesnt last long. Avoid it by dodge rolling or running around if you got no condition removal. L2P, its not OP.

I have seen this too, every NA server is on Very High population, never high, never medium. This makes it extremely hard to transfer servers even to a t7/t8 server will cost as much as Jade quarry, even though there is a massive populatoin gap.

roll asura for pain inverter, but ik you can change your race after you make your character i wish there was some option or purchase for that, i have commander tag and 3 armor sets on this character but i have stupid dumb human gods skills, i cant delete this character.

Underutilized Utility Skill Survey

So there’s a bunch of utility skills I don’t use on my Mesmer. Rather than just write them off, I thought it would be good to share with other Mesmers. Maybe someone has an ubur use for a skill I think is useless. Worst case we end up with a “popular vote” of perceived worthless skills for the developers.
And from that list, skills I never slot are:

Arcane Thievery — this one might be pretty cool, I’ll have to try it in wvw/pvp.
Illusion of Life — looks cool but have never slotted it.
Mimic — reward doesn’t seem worth the effort on this skill.
Signet of Domination — condition dmg not significant, and I already have a daze kitten
Signet of Illusions — health boost just not worth it, and on a delay. I dont’ run legion.
Signet of Inspiration — don’t like RNG on my skills.
Signet of Midnight — don’t see much value in this (passive nor active).
Veil — never use because if I want it I take mass invis instead.

Things that I use
Blink: superior escape and suprise attack skill.
Decoy: superior escape and good way for your enemy to lose focus.
Feedback: good wvw reflection for zerg fights and glamour build ability.
Mirror Images: good way to someone 2 clones up just before shattering, & a way to escape.
Phantasmal Defender: Excellent damage reduction and defensive ability.
Phantasmal Disenchanter: Excellent AoE conditon removal and removes boons
Signet of Domination: Additional option to stun your foe, and grants passive cond damage.
Signet of Midnight: The only was a mesmer can reach 100% boon duration without warrior banner buff.
Veil: Excellent kiting ability, which you can use twice , and can use combo finishers on, and allies can use it.

What needs to be buffed:
Mantras: Once they’re used, they’re gone. You cant charge them again in a fight, the time is too long to charge them. Ideas: Increase uses, or decrease cast time.
Mimic: Single use reflection, feedback is better.
Portal Entre: Needs to be a combo field.
Signet of Midnight: Although I use it, it should be better. On use, blind is the last thing I want. If its a boon duration signet, it should be something to do with boons on use. Gain 3 random boons on use? Also the passive time is too small, but is my only option to reach 100%. Should be +20% or +25%.
Signet of Illusions: The bonus health is not enough, needs a bit more. Maybe speed or damage bonus 10% as well/instead.

The rest I partually use, could be buffed but aren’t my biggest concerns.

Mesmers can do a lot of damage, and can be resistent but are incredibly slow and conditions hurt unless you have lemmon grass soup or melandru/hoelbreak runes.

Why would we want the blue keep? It has that stupid grub outside of it.

10th is green, if you guys improved your during the week skills, you could easily beat SBI, and be in close match with SoS. All you need is more SEA guilds to come so you can actually get to 695 overnight, after SoS die down. Sort of like what dragonbrand did to them.

You can put arrow carts on your tower, but eles will hit them down. You can put them further back out of AoE range, but then they will just ram your tower. You build catapults behind the door with arrow carts there too, and arrow carts on the wall out of ele reach, but they will just golem rush you.
The only thing that annoys me is there should be some way to defeat golems quick and easy.

Lol I think its funny that thieves cried about one tiny stealth nerf and a culling fix. Seriously, with that attitude you deserve more than that.
Although, anet had two choices to fix thieves: increase revealed debuff, reduce the amount of ways thieves can stealth. Preferably, I’d prefer them to have less ways to stealth, but ah well. Lets look at how many stealth’s they have. Blinding Powder, Shadow Refuge, Cloak and Dagger, Steal (traited 2s), Steal (Sometimes the ability to steal (2 different abilities), Heartseeker + Smokescreen, Heartseeker + Black Powder, and Shadowtrap.
Wow, thats a lot of ways to stealth. 9 different ways that thieves can stealth lol, you should be glad your stealth ways didn’t get nerfed :P
Ah well, this patch was good, but I feel not enough. At least reduce the damage mug does, or make mug be a XII/XI trait, heartseeker does too much damage since it costs such fewish initiative and can be spammed, cloak and dagger is a little OP since it does up to 7-8k at max, stacks vulnerability, AND stealths…

JQ are the forever dominators with 3x ppl as much as the others,
SoR have just been climbing and climbing and never actually have gone ‘down’ due to people transferring so much
BG have gained a few people, and used to be able to crush SoR in t2, but they didn’t get as much transfers.

You twonks who think mesmers are an OP easy to play class, you are sadly mistaken. Mesmer is by FAR the hardest class to play. I have spent over 500 hours on my mesmer and STILL haven’t mastered it. Its not a thief where you can just go steal, C&D and backstab in a second for 15000 damage, then if that doesnt work spam heartseeker till they die, but it takes time. Us mesmers have to learn how to use our clones wisely, (stacking up auto attack conditions, making yourself really hard to find (Decoy, Phase Retreat, Blink) and then theres the phantasms, you have to make sure they hit at the right time, as a good way to start your enemy off before going into main burst attacks.
The only reason everyone wants us to be nerfed is because they are the thief players, and we know thief are the true OP class with their spammable burst damage and constant stealthing.

Mesmers aren’t easy to play and they aren’t OP, they are by far the hardest to play class.

Yeah well us messies are unique, we don’t get speed signet but we get boon duration signet <3, that makes us the only class that can get to 100% boon duration with the food runes and traits, while everyone else is stuck at 90 except warriors have their 10% boon duration banner.

Back on topic, MH pistol would be really cool, and would only fit if it was made since pistol stuff (IX) is in the Dueling trait line. We could have like

  1. Shoot your foe and bleed them (1 stack)
  2. Shoot your foe crippling them (6 seconds) 8s CD
  3. Fire a magic projectile which hits your foe stacking vulnerability (5 stacks) then bounces to allies granting regeneration (5 seconds) 3x bounces. 12s CD

We have had the guild of just the 3 leaders closed for recruiting while we build the upgrades up, but now we are open, and our upgrades are going well.

What we do
Everyday, we will be doing daily CoF runs, nightly WvW (8PM eastern Australia time, figure it here), and lots of things you people want to do. We respect members highly, and encourage you to join us, to help us grow.

Requirements
Preferred: Blackgate home server. (If you are on another server, you must be willing to guest on Blackgate to PvE with us)
Must be willing to WvW ocassionally (twice a week with any admin)
Must represent 90% of the time.

Confusion doesn’t need a nerf, its not OP. Only total noobs would get defeated by it, so don’t come here crying about that and encouraging a nerf. Confusion can be easily avoided by a: condition removal, b: not using skills and dodge rolling around.

Hope this isn’t in response to my Opener… Because if so you didn’t read… I never said it was OP I was just raising a question of what we as mesmers would do if WvW confusion started well…. Sucking.

You got me wrong OP also means OverPowered.

The funny thing is, Pistol improvement thingy (IX) is in the dueling tree, but yet dueling is skills with 2 of the same one hand weapon right? So why don’t we already have a main hand pistol.

Love that messing round with the staff, lol those opponents didn’t have a clue what was going on. Its a bit different with tier 1 opponents, but still works great. with the staff kiting and sword torching i can get a lotta DPS, and stay well protected.
Since I love two of the fantastic builds, I combinded them as a sword/torch – staff mesmer. All my armor is knights gear, and my trinkets are the new exotic karma gear power tough crit. To maintain okay health, I put crest of the soldier in my trinkets, and changed the traits to: 0/20(I,X)/30(III/X/XII)/10(II)/10(VI) Also, changed my utilities a little, I use decoy, Veil, and null fied for some cond removal and additional chaos armor <- mentioned earlier, and mass invis. The trait II in inspiration will help me with surving more, as it reduces two important combo field skills’ cooldowns.
Both are great builds, I had to use them together to become ultimate. I also put earth runes in my armor because centaur runes arent needed when I can gain it from my chaos storms and chaos armor.
I used to use all power tough vit gear with 100% boon duration, but now I find these builds are a little more tougher to kill, and i have much more damage.
Some proof:
Before: Loss to another mes, slight win on ele, loss to necro, loss to warrior, win to thief, loss to engineer, loss to condition ranger, draw with guardian.
After: Crushed another mes, owned an ele, smashed a necro, destroyed a thief, won to a warrior, crushed an engineer, shot down a condition ranger retreating, and out lived a guardian.

Its a great success! Now I just need time to improve even more!

hahah, its annoying yeah, but i work my way around it. whilst in combat, i run around like an idiot spamming F :P its only needed to do that in zerg fights, so its not that important. in 5v5 or under, bags aren’t such an issue.

Nothing is OP. Its simple. Every class has advantages and disadvantages.
A: advantage, D- disadvantage. heres some examples:
Thief: A- DPS, speed, stealth. D- low health, low damage reduction.
Mesmer: A- clones, stealth, defense. D- low speed, and big cooldowns.
Elementallist: A- speed, additional healing, invulnerability. D- low health, low condition removal, no weapon swap.
Guardian: A- Super high armor, Super high healing. D- low speed, low health base.
Necromancer: A- high health, life steal, lots of conditions. D- not much burst, not much stun breaks.
Warrior: A- high DPS, high health, high speed. D- not much break stuns, or condition removal, or healing.
Engineer: A- high toughness, high conditions, turrets. A- no weapon swap, low burst.

I may not be right, I don’t have much experience of necros or engineers, but most of this is right. Everyone is OP and crap at the same time :P
