As someone who zergs and roams, I find that its just a simple matter of honour if I see 2 people fighting, I won’t jump in and intefere. It makes it rediculously unbalanced and no fun for either of the people fighting. I will stand about 1500 range away and watch until one of them goes down. If it’s my ally and the enemy goes for the stomp I’ll jump in and kill him and res my ally, if it’s the enemy who goes down I’ll get a tag and move on. Regardless, whether its an official duel or just a random 1v1, I do not feel its fair to just randomly ruin it.

If you’re playing solo then you will need decent sustain, as ele is light armor, low HP, you’ll need healing power and some toughness. You could run celestial dagger dagger or maybe cleric or soldier staff. Until you get tempest your survival will be core ele so having water and arcane trait lines will benefit you.
You could also run scepter focus with air trait line using fresh air and superspeed for good mobility, but you’ll have to kite well.

A lot of valid points there.

The number 1 problem I find with ranger is that most of it’s autos are trash DPS. Take greatsword, so slow clunky and deals horrendous damage. Sword isn’t much better, its just slightly faster. Axe auto is ew. Longbow is powerful at range, but not so much in raids. However its auto at melee range still hits harder than a greatsword.

Mesmer also has this issue but at less they have phantaams.

Is stability required/valued only in WvW and sPvP, vs. having it in PvE? I ask because I don’t think I ever used it in PvE.

Its essential in wvw otherwise you get ganked, locked down, and defeated.
PvP is more about damage mitigation but it certainly does help a lot there, it’s just there’s more fitting better options.

S/F is great for power, and is even better using fresh air trait to quickly swap in and out of air as skill 2 and 3 are instant cast, while first has burst and futility skills, and earth is your defense with 2-5. Water has a good heal on skill 3 and decent crowd control on 4-5.

Sc/F is very enjoyable and I’ve used it for years, if you need extra help or info you can pm me.

Honestly, celestial tempest works fine for me in WvW and PvE excluding raids.

Cele d/d arcane water tempest with LF aftershock and mist form, with auras for self cleanse all traited works really well in solo roaming.
Celestial staff works great for zerging as you can deal substantial damage while being able to provide good heals and not dying instantly.
And cele d/w earth air auramancer fresh air is great in solo pve, you can solo t4 fractals even because it sustains so well.

Not sure about pvp and wvw warrior its been dead for a while, except vanilla burst builds. I am interested in the bulls charge change and the traits however.

PvE warrior actually got pretty well buffed however; much better damage, and condi duration was no worries to build up, went from 26k DPS to 29k for raids.

Full asc vipers, bleed burn traits, precision to expertise trait, and malice sigil will bring you up to 93.40% duration. Using veggie pizzas bumps it to 100.08%, and no need for expensive utilities. Tuning icicles ftw

It seems the Ancestral Grace will cancel the effect of any combo field your pet currently applies. So using staff 3 then CA 3 and other blasts in a field your pet put down will not work.

Yeah I noticed this while comboing smoke scale field + staff 3, it’s unresponsive and very buggy. Greatsword 3 leap for stealth doesn’t work either.

You can’t just go in with staff ele, bunker guard or whatever and expect to 1vsX people with a zerging build, most thieves or mesmers wandering alone or small groups win because they are built to fight against single target players.
If you’re playing a zerg build just stick with the tag and don’t be a tail then those stealth gank roamers won’t get you. If you want to chase squirrels then get a build or class that is capable of fighting them. Playing and learning PvP helps deal with smaller fights; make a medi trapper DH or shout druid or dd ele or thief or whatever, but its rare/impossible to have a build that has amazing team support as well as able to deal with gankers.

I don’t understand the point of this, you’re saying hammer rev is op yet it dies constantly? isn’t that what full glass builds do o.o
Hammer rev is bad in 1v1, slow, clunky and easy to outplay in melee.
A thief who can dodge their initial snipe will destroy it, and clearly every other class.

i main ele, get my butt handed to me bc none of my teammates focus targets, they cant dodge of out aoe and hit like feathers. So its been a great run so far
at this point im trolling with a p/p thief and still losing matches, but getting top stats each time, i just want ascneded tickets, its not about the pretty medal anymore.

Solo Queueing as ele isn’t optimal because you can’t actively communicate when you use your skills in certain situations, I.e. using earth 5 to stomp when a mesmers got it, spraying out heals but your necros in shroud, or rev/thief tping around. Ele performs better in a coordinated duo, or premade team in unranked. You do barely any damage and your sustain got hammered, in 1v1s you are cooked or stalemate. Your only role is support and utility.

I am an ele main and still believe its viable, although not alone in a soloQ This season I am duoing with an excellent condi necro, and in coms together we coordinate things really well and win almost every fight. Placed somewhere in high platinum. You need a trustworthy team or partner to make it work, otherwise queue as a engi, ranger, mesmer or thief in soloQ.

Also on the subject of your 10 games, some timezones work better than others, and you can avoid good players who keep ending up on the opposite team and kicking your ass by waiting for them to go in a match. If you’re having a bad time like 3 losses in a row, just stop and have a break, and come back later.

The placement isn’t impossible to escape, you can slowly climb up from wherever it puts you if the game’s MMR thinks you deserve it.

WIth the recent patch, everyone’s sustain was nerfed indeed. This helped classes like ele, necro perform better in 1v1s. I have seen some amazing necros which are either a loss to in a 1v1 or a stalemate, then there’s others that die to my support ele. It depends how you play as necro honestly, if you’re willing to give up the point for more kiting and sustain then your chances of winning are better, since necro is slow, clunky, and has little evades. That all being said, unranked is pretty scattered at the moment, we will see how it does on the next season, but necro is pretty strong now.

Thieves’ venoms are consumed whether hit or miss, so why not enchanted daggers too? Thieves have the same kind of healing skill too. Rev has plenty of sustain; medium health base, high armor base, access to protection, stability, plenty of blocks, dodges. This is a reasonable nerf, and in PvP revenant is top tier after all.

The only solution is to give the old amulets in PvP back, and in ALL game modes give the tempest line some major buffs- talking dps wise not survival. Fire Air and Arcana lines also need some buffs. And then all 4 trash scepter autos, the trash offhand dagger cooldowns, and the lack of condi clear without water overload. And why were fiery greatsword and icebow nerfed in the first place, they are garbo now, so their changes should be reverted back to twice its current dps.

I love my 3-4k Sword Autos in PvE, while rev Sword autos hit 10k twice as fast. But Ranger Sword isn’t much better.
Mind Wrack doesn’t hit any more than 2k, power mesmer is completely obsolete now.

Adding ‘new improved’ amulets that have plenty of power and precision, maybe some expertise, mixed with healing or something silly.

Ideas for improvement?
Bring back cele amulet, bring back cleric. The only class that was strong with these amulets, was ELE. Now look at Ele’s state.
Spend a good few hours (in the past you only have spent 5 minutes on it per patch) reviewing tempest traitline. Add more utility, DPS and viability other than heal spam. D/D ele 2015 had plenty of support, it DID NOT need the tempest line for full defensive support.
Buff Glyphs
Buff Conjurable weapons to compete with Engineer’s kits’ utility.
Improve all the elites
Buff dagger offhand.
Buff ALL the scepter autos.
Add more cleanse to Warhorn, and reduce warhorn cast times.
Make overloads less easy to interrupt, it’s impossible to complete any overload besides earth, as even with traited Stability, a DH trap and a bow 3, or a rev staff 5, or a mace warrior and you’re a goner, overloads are garbage if they don’t finish. Even in PvE they get interrupted too easily.
Improve Fire traitline and Arcana traitline, FOR PVP ONLY if you have to….. they are literal garbage at the moment
Arcane shield – I saw the idea somewhere of blocking all atks for 3s, yes this is a genius idea for improvement, this is a step to compete with DH, otherwise reduce its terrible cd from 75s…
Cantrips need more utility, Mistform and Armor of Earth are only good for stomps, Cleansing Fires can not cleanse enough conditions to survive against any condi HoT spec
Signets were strong pre-hot, but power creep outdated them. Need improvement.
Signet traits need improvement, nothing compared to Necromancer’s signet traits.

There is no build diversity in ele, and it’s not even in the meta now for PvP, you can make a healy build with vitality but you will be too glassy.
Back in 2014 and 2015 pre-June, there were plenty of viable builds; D/D, Staff, S/F. Balancing has only gone downhill.

Glass ele will never be viable. DH, Rev, Warr, Scrapper all have the same DPS as a glass ele, but can survive about 1000 times longer.
Ele needs a real change, as for the tempest line needs better GM traits bcos heals from auras is the mandatory in ALL game modes, the other traits can not compete in any way, I am surprised anet haven’t reviewed this situation.
Without heal spam amulets, which is all it’s been reduced to, ele is trash. The construction of tempest and the way it interacts with other classes has no chance for DPS.
It will never be the same as D/D cele or S/F dps.

I think some of these ideas are good, but Tempest is the real problem here. It’s pure defense based. Fire I do agree needs massive buffing, and air could use a little too. Offhand Dagger and Mainhand Scepter are extremely inferior compared to D/F, and staff is lacking too without the celestial amulet.

Don’t even try to defend your stupid class lol, yeah you have all your traps on the point so we can easily dodge them, but guess what ! your traps are ready to be used again so after we dodge first lock bam goes second lot, so i dodge out of it, – 2 dodges, all endurance gone. oh no but then i’m pull into it, knocked back out and dead. however, if i manage to successfully get thus far, and land some decent burst, they don’t die. they’ll get to 5% hp then heal all the way.
I have played DH this season to see for myself, it’s easy win win win, I want a fun meta, not an easy path to legend.

The DPS is fine, they can keep that but they shouldn’t be tankier than bunker eles last season… please for the love of god reduce the block spam heal spam that lets them live forever in 2v1

Ranked is won by DH stacking, it is top tier and the most powerful class, don’t kittening even try to deny it. When I put that Symbolic build on, it was win win win win win.

PvP is not as fun as it once was. Instead of reviewing their elite specializations and toning them down, they just buff them and remove old amulets.
Build diversity is lost.

- Elementalist’s tempest line is locked to the one GM trait in all game modes, STILL. Fire attunement is underpowered, due to unnecessary nerfs.
- Power mesmer is no long viable due to increasing passive tankiness of all classes. Mesmer is now forced to run with inspiration traitline for protection against all the condi-sustain builds, and mesmer itself is turned into a condi-sustain build.
- Power necromancer is not viable anymore, the elite spec shroud form are condition based, the greatsword is two clunky and easy to evade, while the hard dps output without conditions in shroud form is awful.
- Ranger lost all of its ‘Ranger’ indentity. Now they just run circles at mid spamming celestial avatar form, and occasional longbow wet noodle attacks reflected half the time. DPS is carried by superior HoT introduced pets, dominant to core pets.
- Engineer elite spec is just cancer to fight, and alot less fun to play. Farts out stability, stealths, reflects, CC, cleanse, protection and speed.
- Thief has lost its top-tier value and is not viable in 1v1’s generally due to increasing sustain of all classes, as thief can not burst down these classes (Unless its a non-hot Guardian or something). It is only good for +1’ing team fights and decaps, however this keeps it out of bottum tier place at least.
- Guardian already had a strong sustain/DPS build but now it’s sustain is 5 times higher, as well as spammable CC and traps introduced, easy to use and succeed with, due to passive stability, CC and cleanse traits. Jump into fight, spam traps, and spam DPS while traits cover you. Jump out with F2F3 to survive.
- Warrior power builds are no longer viable. Only condi spam interrupt, whilst maintaining a super high sustain is viable. Warriors have always had a strong sustain, but not so much of a strong offense nor condition pressure. They are now very powerful in 1vs1, and extremely tanky.
- Revenant despite nerfs is still one of the most powerful classes, due to its superior mobility in Assassin’s stance, and the near-infinite evades it has. Projects a huge amount of dmg while easily evading most of its incoming attacks.

These changes are not fun, many of the old fun builds are all killed now. HoT is turning PvP into kitten center. The new map is nice, but isn’t enough.

There are many possibilities. I only command octovines twice a day depended on how busy I am. Yes, it is possible people may pocket the money. I certainly don’t have any benefit from doing so, the rest goes to guild stash. The people I have given authority to this permission are those who are well trusted and been serving the guild for a long time now, demonstrating legitimate leadership and contribution. [AB] was first formed in early April, discovering vast and new interesting methods to make the guild happy, richer and a better place for everyone.

Often there is not enough gold directly mailed to those collecting donations. Which means, those distributing to the anchors have to mail out their own pocket money to complete the require amount. Ymikoko mails the anchors evenly, I have witnessed it myself. If people are not paid the correct amount, you kindly whisper the distributor, if they do not respond or agree, you whisper the guild leader >Henrik.7560< and they will deal with it. I do my best to run this guild in the spare time I have, and with the help of my officers, it’s quite successful.

I don’t know the full extent of this incident, but I am a leader of [AB] and created this anchoring system.

After April 19, Multi-map became a thing because octovine meta became so popular. Often, people would loot a few maps and then run out of maps/toons and just hold a map for us; ‘volunteer anchoring’ this was known as. Sooner or later, others began to do it from the start of octovines out of the goodness of their hearts.
As a guild, we agreed to donate to them for sacrificing loot to hold maps, and keep our squads completely tidy and easy to use. At the end of each octovine run, I would ask in guild and squad chat, ‘We are accepting donations to give to anchors for sacrificing their loot to hold maps for us’, and many people would send gold. I would put all the donated gold, plus a few extra of my own into the guild bank every time we had anchors. Then when it was time to pay them, I would withdraw it and evenly distribute to each anchor.

Over experiments, and calculating an average on donations, I applied this system for all my officers to use when they lead squads in the off hours. 6g per anchor was the general idea. For half time anchors, 3g, including if the map fails because their map is invalid and the process is cancelled from 20 past, and they are free to loot.
If we have more than 5 anchors, 5g each. If there’s only 1, 10g for that person.

The donations are not forced or pressured on AT ALL. It is entirely voluntary and I constantly mention so. People are aware you can make 20-30g per run, but if they don’t feel like doing the whole thing they’ll just afk and anchor a map, have a relax and come back to 6g in the mail, which I do not have a problem with.
I train my guildies the most efficient methods in making money from octovine, they all know that anchoring gives less money but they do it anyway because they want to help. We donate them because we respect them for the respect they show us.

I mark my anchors with ‘Share Squad Participation’ so it has that little icon next to their name, and when they move out of a locked map because it failed, I can still see who they are. We’ve reviewed these methods and this is the most efficient system we have come up with.

Lately, I’ve been thinking; since all our maps get anchored, and we have plenty of spots in our squads, why not let pugs join as well? It will help find more people who want to join our guild, as well as give 20 pugs a great time, of course closing the squad when population hits 40-45 in reserve for guildies.
This is the Auric Basinist system.

Now to the one causing commotion, I am not familiar with the details, but if you’re going to judge on our anchor fundraisers, here are some questions you need to answer first.

1. Have you ever anchored a map for us?
2. Have you ever donated a single cent for anchors?
3. Is it fair for someone sacrificing half of their loot, to get the same consideration as someone sacrificing all of theirs?
4. Why post on the forum, rather than consult with the guild leader (me), or the any of the other officers, or at least discuss in guild chat?

I run d/d (d/w in major fights) full cele Ascended with concentration and energy sigil, and hoelbrak runes. Air for the passive speed (lazy) and fast recharge, and some dps, and water and Tempest for sustain with might on shouts.
It’s really nice and can take on 10 or more mordrem at once and I would recommend it to survive in hot.

Anet don’t give a kitten about PvP anymore, 95% of their efforts go into PvE which is good they fix it so much but work on PvP too.
I have played PvP for 3 years but after getting legend last season I pretty much stopped for good, it’s no fun, in general PvE metas I can happily run what I want instead of being forced into one stupid build. Anet balancing is hopeless.

Why Did They Remove Settler Again?

It’s just sad that they went downhill from cele dd ele times… That took some combinations and coordination with skills… Now the auto stability farting, might for free via traits : herald, scrapper and the free defence, heal or sustain boosts in especs (DH, scrapper, druid).

Back on point, settlers and a bunch of other amulets were all removed due to them being too defensive, as everyone hates the bunker meta, as I mentioned, the elite specs provide too much free sustain, but don’t cut the damage much at all (except Tempest which is pure defence and support).

All lanes cleared breaches and frogs, all our commanders were explaining in /s. We were all in the and planned the perfect numbers per lane.

How we done the octovine :
All lines cleared mobs and then burned in sync, each for just over 25% enabling it to die fast in 4 burns.
First burn was done by 17:08, second 15:22, third 13:58, final 12:47.
By the time breaches respawned, South was already on 5 at final burn.

That was the smoothest Octovine event I’ve been a part of. South is so much easier with dead frogs.

Yeah, I was so happy everyone followed me to instantly kill the breacher and frogs before pushing bomb.

WHY kick us out of a near tier 4 map into tier 0 TRASH??

EDIT: the ‘map is closing, you have 1 hour to leave’ thing popped up. We accepted it and started on the new map AND THIS HAPPENS WTF

BUMP. this happened to me and my [AB] guild who worked our kitten off to get all the pylons done. With a tier 4 map and 10 mins to go until meta, BOOM we were kicked. All progress lost and sent to a kittenty kittening HP train noob fest. The map was populated and lively. Definitely over 70 people in it. WHY kick us into a less populated map. I speak for all of the 70 ppl who worked on this.

Instead of having a trash system that wastes all our progress for no kittening reason to send us to a worse even less populated map, how about cancel the map close mechanic when the populated reaches 50 ppl????

dueling vs Mesmer? HOW????

Hey guys, this is realy bothering me… How to win duel vs mesmer?
My main class in pvp is Druid, and I can duel any clas expect Mesmer.
Since Im only few pips away from legendary I find more and more god mesmer players, and from my perspective they are OP!!!
How Im supose to win a duel if Mesmer put Torment, poison and confusion on me, how to duel hiw if I cant move, heal or cast spells?
Plus he have other condie dmg like burn and bleed + stuns and moa… Even if I somehow survive and evade some of his cc’s and cleanse some confusin, he have blocks and evade to avoid all my dmg, and then spam begin again…

Any advice?

Druid counters mesmer pretty hard, I stomp almost every druid or make them retreat while holding points with my mesmer, and when I play my druid, fairly decent at it; I can’t take a mesmer down unless they’re garbage.
Druids are good for fighting necros, which not many classes they can do, with their ‘burst cleanse’, how they can instantly clear all condis when entering avatar form, thus screwing a necro up. Necros have low mobility and the pet is constantly presurring them, while you kite around at range with your double ranged set, or even GS would work too.
Mesmer is sustained condi slow kill over time. A good mesmer will change how they apply their condis upon you, they can either burst and shatter everything and then everything again in a couple seconds to put 8 torments and 12 confusions on you, or they can slowly shatter their illusions every 5 or 10 seconds, and constantly apply small amounts of conditions wearing you down. Druid doesn’t have enough sustained cleanse to beat it. Their shouts won’t be enough to cover it, and their weapon skills don’t cleanse either. You won’t beat the current meta mesmer with your druid, its like a thief to a DH almost.
That being said, it won’t stop you from reaching legend. I have lost many games as a mesmer to strong druids, they cover their allies butts’ with their pet tele res carry, usually necros, and then they stomp me in 2v1. together. Druid is extremely powerful in team fights, and is also strong in 1v1, just not with mesmer. If you see a mesmer coming towards a point your holding, and a decisive team fight taking place, let him have the point and win that team fight then you can 2v1 the mesmer down. GL
