I’m really not here to read reciprocal questions from lordkrall.
I would like to know why Anet is not listening to the players on this issue, or even looking at their own metrics. I’m sure they know exactly how many Energy Probes have been destroyed in the borderlands this week, and I’m certain it’s “not very many”.
It’s a small number because living story, toxic mobs and energy probes are not relevant to WvW.
What’s next? A giant marionette hanging above your EB keep getting ready to destroy unless players jump through a puzzle to pull her strings and move the marionette to the next keep?
(edited by Herr der Friedhoefe.2490)
Are you people so completely not listening to us that you’re going to do this again?
Never mind the vocal minority. Your own metrics must have shown you that we WvW players simply avoided the Living story mobs in borderlands and the Eternal battleground unless the yaks were affected. Living story mobs don’t belong there.
There is no reason for players from the blue or green borderland to invade the red borderland and kill living story mobs, and for that reason alone, the living story mobs don’t belong in WvW.
I think I need to go find that interview with Colin J. where he said something to the effect that “if we listen to our players we’ll be ok”. Something like that.
So go and kill them? Seriously, guys like this love to be annoying, but they hate dying.
Get three or four guys together and put down a few stealth traps. Wait for the guy to come back, and kill him again. They usually get the message pretty quickly.
Congratulations to Desolation, of course, but I’ll still +1 the OP.
Yes it takes work, but many servers still can’t take down the Marionette and the reason for that is the guesting system and the fact that players are flocking to the server with the greatest reputation.
If I were a regular on Desolation, a bit late to the party and forced into Overflow, I would not be a happy camper. As it is, my own regular server can only finish the Marionette event in the prime time partly because many players guest to Desolation when they can play, for the win.
I don’t much like the current guesting system, and I really don’t like the Overflow system.
I don’t do jumping puzzles in normal game play, but guess what…
But some people do them as normal game play.
Does anyone eat 25 pieces of food in normal play?
I don’t care. My point is valid. If I want that achievement point, I go do the easiest puzzle I know. I can’t always be bothered to do that. You don’t have to spend 1s on Tarragon Loaf bread either.
Now let’s talk about Daily Activity Participation. I’m sure the Monday Morning Metrics Meeting at Anet shows a healthy level of participation in the Daily Activities. Let them take away the achievement point and see what happens.
We don’t know yet
I don’t do jumping puzzles in normal game play, but guess what…
Wait, we want zoom hacks?
Nooooo…..
And no to perma stealth too. Nobody should have that much stealth uptime, mobility and damage in one character. Please don’t bring the l2p arguments. I know how to drive off a thief. Hell, half the time they leave by themselves which is the problem. Only a stupid thief ever dies. They just leave when they’re being pressed.
Joking aside. Few issues I know are prominent.
More than a few, and yeah I hear ya. some stuff is all in jest.
I like lists, break-downs, and bullet points.
Then let me please repost one of the best lists from this thread.
1) They buffed arrow carts
2) They added ranks
3) They added mastery lines
4) They added orb buffs
5) They added PPT for stomping
6) They added Living Story
7) They added achievements
8) They added WvW infusions
9) They made siege tradable
10) They added random matchups
11) They deleted the WvW matchup forum
We players never asked for these things and for the most part we really don’t want them, while things that we have been asking for since day one are still not dealt with.
1) Guild commander tags
2) Guild management tools, specifically “last seen”
3) Colored commander tags, or at least Lt. Commander tags
4) Kick the offline party member in WvW
5) Zoom hacks, specifically with AC’s
6) Auto loot that works
7) Perma noob stealth thief
8) Two classes with no speed signet
9) Rewards on par with PvE events
10) Rewards for defensive play on par with zerging
11) Forging multiple superior siege as one action
12) Your top complaint here please
I know these things and more were discussed in the relatively recent CDI but since that thread was closed communications with the devs has gone cold. Considering the beating Devon Carver took over Season One, I’m not surprised he doesn’t post here anymore.
Still, we need communications because it does make players feel better when they need a bit of a rant. Actually addressing some of our issues would be even better.

Considering it was a drop with Zero cost I would just hang on to it. These holiday event items always seem to gain value over time because there is such a limited number of them.
That sort of item will always be popular with people who like the evil/ugly look.
Don’t worry, next tier will be stronger!
Yup, and 6 months after it’s introduced, the next tier will be nerfed too, just like Celestial Ascended.
Hmm, interesting find.
So the Exquisite Watchwork Sprocket is a new Rare level jewel? How does one acquire these? (I’m assuming they can be crafted from normal Sprockets.)
It’s a recipe that can be bought on the TP, and I assume it’s dropping in the Marionette boss encounter.
But like I said, I’m not sure it’s worth the investment. The “Go Zerk, or Go Home and Take Your Ball With You Crowd” are not likely to switch from “Power, Prec, Ferocity” to “Power, Prec, Healing”.
Nope. /15charrormore
You know what isnt fun? The 2 hr wait.
The overflow system isn’t much fun either. Last night I got on to our own server event for the marionette but it was well after midnight. Of course we didn’t quite have enough people there.
This system of “too many and overflow” or “not enough and fail” is really poor design.
But you know, we’re talking about the Living Story, so Colin is happy!
(edited by Herr der Friedhoefe.2490)
The Yakkington’s back piece has a Celestial option.
There are now Exquisite Watchwork Sprockets available on the TP, and yes they have Power, Prec, Healing attributes.
There are now also recipes for that Rare level jewel, as well as Exotic level Rings, Earrings and Amulets. No back piece that I can see, but the Ascended Keeper’s gear has the same stats and probably requires these sprockets.
I’m not sure if these are worth the effort or an investment.
(edited by Herr der Friedhoefe.2490)
Considering the cost of creating either of the two ascended backpacks, shouldn’t there be an infused recipe in the Mystic Forge so people can use them in higher level fractals without having to create a second ascended backpack, infusing that and THEN transmuting it?
Anet/NCSoft want you to spend the cash for transmutation crystals, and they don’t mind the gold sink involved in crafting the Dwayna/Grenth back pieces either.
Sucks that we’re not even getting “yo dawg, we know…”
I pray to the gods of RNG, but they rarely answer.
That would be nice but hotkey stuff doesn’t really tie into Scarlet, so we can’t have that.
celestial is +x to all stats. it should stay that way. please don’t make it 47/47/47/47/47/47/76. that just looks stupid, for starters.
Just make it 52/52/52/52/52/52/52 and you’re good to go.
I wouldn’t mind that type of solution but I would still like to see some boon duration to make up for the lost MF%.
Maybe soon we can say goodbye to the Anet Channel, All Nerfs, All the Time!
… if ArenaNet states that the Debilitating Dissipation trait was too strong in PvP and thus required a nerf, we will know they are talking about 0-3 stacks of bleed and a very rare 4 seconds of Vulnerability or Weakness.
And may I say, Excellent Work!!!
You may have found the definition of “cheese”.
1v1 and I’m mostly ok, although I’m really starting to hate hammer warriors. Those guys are now almost as bad as the perma noob thief types.
As much as I hate to have to aim my skills, Osicat’s blink ideas are pretty good. Still, I feel like a dirty thief when I reset a fight like that.
Wasbunny, those numbers are all good and interesting but for me the simple fact that I expect to leave a clone behind when I dodge is far more important. It’s one of the most basic mechanics of the mesmer game. That forces our opponents to think, and gives us a way out of a bad situation.
I often use scepter/focus. A decoy, dodge, heal, reveal and auto-attack beside my 2 clones confuses the kitten out of a lot of people, and that’s the just most basic move.
If there are concerns about conditions applied with “on death” then work on that end of the problem! Or, as has been suggested make those “on death” conditions blockable, or evadable. While they are at it, perhaps Anet could address the fact that clones don’t target what I’m targeting?
Anyway, they’ve backed down for now because they figured it out, we know more about the class then they do. For now… ><
Hopefully they are looking at this fairly seriously today. A lot of the stuff on that livestream was obviously not thought through very well and they’ve already backed down on the nerf to the mesmer Deceptive Evasion trait.
It still makes me sick that I’ve been using a Celestial Ascended armor set for about a week and they come out with this… ><
Another very experienced player suggested letting clone-death procs be blockable. Consider that as well.
This is by far the better change to the situation. Shield warriors can already block shatters quite nicely. Why not let the on death traits be blockable too, and leave the mesmers alone, thanks.
Believe me, we’re as frustrated as you are. Did you see the most recent good news?
Here’s the thing. I can live with vigor nerf, I can live with DE nerf, I can live with crit dmg nerf but ALL together… it’s hard to not being worried as a shatter mesmer.
In one shot they are going to kill my armor, my trinkets, my weapons, and my build.
Hopefully they’ve got some strong coffee this morning.
The difference between a Charr engineer and an Asuran engineer?
When a Charr engi blows something up, he meant to do it.
Hope they won’t do so cause it doesn’t help to support skilled players. For example, a lot of times you see the enemy healing (pvp) and you blink-dodge-F3 to daze the heal…
Someone on the balance team just said, “Wait, wut?”
Not everyone interrupts with GS5.
Please don’t delete it. The question is relevant to the current discussion.
These forums need an ignore option.
Waiting for coffee time in Seattle.
(edited by Herr der Friedhoefe.2490)
Again, I’m not defending them. I’m saying that the way most mesmers are responding is not productive in improving Mesmers.
If Anet listens at all, then we have been productive. Pretty simple logic statement there.
Admittedly, Anet doesn’t always listen but again you don’t have a direct line to Anet, and you probably don’t have a crystal ball, so how can you tell use they wont listen once they get back to work tomorrow?
Ah yeah, you can’t.
You can’t really use the same set in WvW and PvE…
I’ve been doing just fine with Wupwup, until the most recent bad news.
My advice to the original post is to wait, and just keep collecting mats. We don’t yet know where this whole thing is going to settle down.
/devnullresponse
Please stop trying to defend Anet. I’m sure they can do it themselves, and given that you still don’t have a direct line to them, it might be possible that they don’t need or even want your help.
Sometime after the Monday morning coffee break in Seattle, I hope we get to see some signs of life from the devs.
…I didn’t think Celestial gear was that efficient for Mesmers to be using…
You are planning to build more than one set of Ascended gear?
I planned on one set of gear and only one set, for my main because I gave up trying to gear up my alts when Ascended was originally introduced. Celestial Ascended on my mesmer lets me take my main character to all areas of the game that I enjoy, without having to change gear or trait build.
I’m done. I’m not building another set. Certainly not after what it has taken to get that Ascended set, in a game that was marketed on the strength of Horizontal Progression.
This change to the most important mesmer trait is just a further slap, and you questioning me on it is even worse.
EDIT: Response to your latest edit – Have you read my post? I am not defending Arenanet directly. I am saying that you, and a lot of other Mesmers are making this issue WAY more of a big deal than it is.
Between the planned changes to celestial gear and crit damage, and this planned change to DE, my WvW roaming mesmer DoT will be nerfed by a minimum of 15%.
That’s not a big deal?

And to reiterate, I really don’t want to ever again see another player defending Anet decisions. You don’t have a direct line to them, why do you even try to speak for them?
They can and should do it themselves. Yes, I know. It’s Sunday. I can wait for them to answer on Monday.
(edited by Herr der Friedhoefe.2490)
So with all the very emotional “concerns” on the Mesmer forums right now I thought I’d play a bit of devil’s advocate by attempting to defend the Mesmer nerf….
Please don’t. I think we would all like to see Anet come up with some better reasons than were presented by a couple grinning fool-types in that video. Others have said it better than I and you should look up those responses in this sub forum.
Hopefully the devs will pay attention too, after they’ve had their coffee tomorrow morning.
Force and Malice might be interesting.
Grouch we know you are there give us an awnser to this issue allready!
It’s Sunday.
Ouch. I didn’t jump through the time-gated hoops to get a set of Celestial, but I’d be none too happy if I did.
Well, I did that. My armor and trinkets are all celestial ascended, including my back piece. My weapons are ascended berserker and my main is a mesmer. With the deceptive evasion nerf too, I’m looking at a loss of 15% of my damage over time.
My mesmer will be useless in WvW because warriors can faceroll dungeons.
Don’t forget to put portal on a 240s cooldown, spatial surge a reflectable projectile, oh and remove phase retreat.
;)
They might as well just nail our feet to the ground now.
Not bothered? Bully for you. I’m really bothered by this. I’ve spent a few months on dailies, guild missions, collecting, farming, crafting with time gates, to get my gear and now it’s getting killed. I’m not doing it again for a 2nd character either.
My armor and trinkets are all celestial ascended gear. The whole works, even the back piece. My weapons are ascended berserker and between the crit nerf and the change to deceptive evasion, my damage over time will be nerfed by 15% or more.
My mesmer will be useless in WvW the moment they do this, and all because a group of warriors can faceroll the dungeons? GG Anet.
I’m on a very high pop server and LA has been dead quiet all day.
Destroying the progress involved in obtaining top level gear is that part that’s bugging me. Crafting an ascended set of anything is not trivial, but Anet just blows it off.
They did the same thing with fractals progress, with no compensation there either.
I can hardly wait for Cantha. It’ll be a level 60 zone and they’ll role all our characters back to level 60 so “we can experience the content as it was meant to be”.
That would be a very nice thing, but mesmers don’t get to have nice things.
Don’t forget the confusion nerf.
Let’s face it. Anet hates Mesmers.
Why don’t they just removed the class from the game and be done with it?
More than just “slightly frustrating”. Combined with the mesmer deceptive evasion trait change my mesmer just turned into a powder puff that makes pretty butterflies.
It has also just occurred to me that my mesmer is my only character with any Agony Resistance, and my only character with a commander tag.
Anet has just told me quite clearly to go play some other game.
