Power levelling with other crafts is not as efficient as it once was thanks to ascended crafting. Cooking is cheaper than any other option at the moment and comes in at a little over 4 gold.
Jewelry still isn’t too bad, at least until level 325 and that give almost 5 levels.
They probably changed their mind and are going a different route about account bound wvw xp (you know like they did with precursor crafting)
… and the precursor scavenger hunt. Drop a maybe, “not off the table” idea to the crowd and then go away for 6 months. The dumb thing? It works.
Is not about celestial gear but what about Traveler/Divinity runes? If they’re not changed they will go from 6/12% respectively to 2/4%…
I’m sure you can kiss your investment in those runes goodbye.
Now then, imagine a mesmer with all celestial ascended armor, trinks and back piece, with a full set of Superior Runes of the Traveler. I’m sure you can figure out what this set has cost me to make, in time and gold.
My main character for PvE and WvW. My only character with agony resistance. My only character with a commander tag. I think I’m going to go throw up.

Up to 496 to all from 468 to all(+38x7 stat points). Down from 62% bonus critical damage to 496 ferocity, or to 33.0(6)% . Statistically speaking 62% would be 930 stat points in new terms. That means we are going to lose 404 points of critical damage and only get 38×6 = 228 points worth of other stats. In other words, 404-228= 176 lost points. Sad results.
Thank you for doing that bit of arithmetic. It’s obvious that many aren’t capable of it, including quite possibly Anet. Celestial and the other builds are being sacrificed to the gods of zerk, and those guys will continue to play their zerker gear.
But on the bright side…
There isn’t one here. Nerfnet will do as they please no matter how many correct numbers we put under their noses.
Not everyone plays this game for the PvE. Boon duration on classes like Guardians is extremely powerful in both tPvP and WvW.
Flamethrower engi too, but I’m not hopeful. They have specifically said they want to move the useful rune effects from #2 to #4, #5 or #6 to force encourage players to use full rune sets.
But, you know? Play the game the way you want to play!
I went to bed last night thinking these exact same thoughts, not in terms of that “other game”, but in terms of more zerg and a lot less roaming because that’s going to be the only way to keep the damage up.
Hammer warriors are still going to be OP though.
I think the problem with adding boon/condi duration to celestial is it renders the Giver’s set kind of pointless.
Giver’s is already pretty pointless except as an experimental set to play with. There are no Ascended Giver’s items. With the changes coming to runes you won’t be able to max boon duration either, with mixed rune sets.
My maniac flamethrowing engi was a ton of fun to play with this stuff, at least in PvE, but now that’s nerfed too.
Back on topic, my mesmer is getting screwed here too. Celestial Ascended armor, trinks and back piece, all out the window and that stuff has taken me months to collect the mats, craft and transmute into a look I like. Obviously I’m not happy here.
The changes to crit damage are going to force even more people into the zerker gear game because the game mechanics, at least in PvE, have no need for toughness, vitality or health recovery. Just join the DPS race and dodge as needed.
The changes coming to sigils sucks hard too. It was a major part of my play style to build a condition, or power stack on various characters, and then switch to a different weapon to maximize the effect, using on-swap mechanics for added effect. Sigils on two-handers might help with that, but I’m not confident.
Any time players find something that might be a bit out of the ordinary, that works really well against the ordinary, it gets nerfed. This isn’t “play how you want to play”, and the over all effect is not going to create a “greater variety of builds”.
I suppose at least they didn’t do it at wvw reset and did it a little earlier.
I love it when Americans look like Americans. The European WvW weekly reset was 4 hours ago. Yeah, it would have been nice if Anet gave us this incredibly important patch before our reset.
“Instant Trait Resets can no longer be found in Black Lion Chests.”
That’s the grand total of the patch notes, and this obviously, absolutely had to be done at 2300GMT on WvW reset night.
Ring of Fire will be in 18th place after the reset today.

Transfers to RoF won’t be free in the coming match, the prices are based on the rankings of March 14th and will stay like that up till the 28th
Transfers to RoF are free until next Friday.
Yeah, Ring of Fire has done well this week on transfers. I’m guessing 100+ dedicated WvW players just joined us and there is still one week with free transfers to join us.
Because they also have a coin mall item to unlock unidentified dyes…
Be careful what you wish for.
Community sourced code actually provides a lot of the things we players have been asking for. Sad that Anet wont offer those code monkeys a job.
You know, it’s entirely possible any of them things you’ve listed could still be in the patch.
So why not announce those things too?
(because they aren’t there…)
That you didn’t ask for.. but there have been many that have.
The only complaints I’ve seen about traits is the lack of presets. Don’t get me wrong, I like the idea of a minus button finally, and on the fly trait changes isn’t a bad thing. I’m just saying that there are so many other things must have a higher priority.
Account bound WxP for example.
Yet again, screwing around “fixing” something that isn’t broken, that we didn’t ask for.
Guild management tools and guild commander tags.
Auto-loot that works.
Perma noob stealth thieves.
Forging multiple items in one pass, instead of repetitive stress injuries.
In-game moderators to start dealing with the hackers.
Game crashes at the massive boss events.
I could go on and on, but there is no point. You’re not listening.
I don’t know how much it costs to change crafting professions. I’ve never done it.
2b. I can’t imagine how you’re running out space with that setup, but I know, some players are absolute pack rats. Salvage everything, just to get your magic find number up.
3. Everyone gets the WvW buff. It’s just there. You don’t have to go claim it somewhere. Find a good guild and teach them about these buffs that stack, to get the 24 hour guild crafting buff on Thursday nights, and of course get yourself a supply of the crafting bonus. Those drop reasonably often from achievement chests.
4. Yeah it would be a pain to delete a character that you had 400/500 crafting on. I did my first 4 characters and planned to keep all of them. The 5th character slot can be used for experimental builds, wash and delete stuff.
5. The better returns on the Mystic kit make it worth to use on rare items. The Mystic kit has 250 uses too, instead of just 25. The stones you need to make that kit drop fairly often from the achievement point chests too, so you don’t really have to spend money on them.
Anything else?
1. Save everything. At low levels you shouldn’t be running out of space for crafting mats.
2. Jewelry and Cooking are the 2 crafts that use all materials you collect, without having to salvage anything. They’re fairly cheap crafts to level too because they don’t yet go to 500.
2b. You know you can open your current inventory and click the cog, then “deposit collectibles”?
3. There is a crafting boost item from the coin mall. It stacks with the WvW weekly buff, and there is a guild crafting buff as well. Thursday evening until the Friday WvW reset is crafting day. Plan for it.
4. Nope. Exactly wrong. You have 5 character slots and each character can learn 2 crafts and maintain them. There are 8 crafts so far.
5. Salvage kits? When you’re first starting out you can buy ultra-cheap crude salvage kits from a few of the low level heart vendors. These days I use basic kits on whites, blues and greens. I make Mystic Forge Salvage Kits for rare items, and BLTC kits for exotic drops.
6. You’ve basically got this point. Discovery is better for XP gain, but using my point #3 here, repeating a recipe with some cheap items is also useful for leveling. Take advantage of your crafting day bonuses to repeatedly craft some items that only need a few cheap mats. Artificer potions are a good example here.
7. The highest tier of stuff, and it’s account bound. Just because you have a 500 Tailor and a 500 Leatherworker doesn’t mean you’ll get to make 2 each of Elonian Leather or the daily Silk item. That really sucks. You did the work to level each craft but can’t use it because the daily limit is account bound.
8. I have never been able to be fully equipped to maximize the one hour duration of a crafting booster.
9. Some recipes are given to you, depending on the craft. Some you have to discover, and then you are able to repeatedly craft that item. Some recipes you have to collect from event chests or buy outright on the trading post, but in all cases, once you learn a recipe you don’t have to learn it again.

they are reading our complains, but ignoring all of it. they lock and remove topics about. yet no reaction.
well, it beats the sPvP forums where certain threads have posts ninja removed without any notice to the posters.
That happens here too.
This is really just a bit unbelievable. This would be the time to add this feature.
I can hardly wait to hear the next excuse.
They are also a good spot to regroup while travelling.
Yep, a smart commander keeps his tail short by mining a bit of mithril in the dredge works, or chopping down a tree at the krall.
CDI – Guild commander tags
CDi – Last seen and other guild management tools
CDI – auto-loot that actually works
CDI – Perma noob stealth thief fix
I could go on and on, about stuff we’ve been asking for since day one.
Instead we get toxic PvE mobs in WvW, that we clearly don’t want.
That’s enough, I’m wasting my breath here, yet again.
The rest of us would prefer to not have to run around a variety of maps just to get a supply of crafting mats. I can run around WvW, playing the game that I prefer and get my mats.
Leave them where they are, thanks.
/bump
Would like a release date please.
We can’t have it, because these forum discussions don’t produce a “work order” for Anet. When that’s the case, I’m not even sure why we have these discussions.
Book marking this and making a calendar mark for 6 months from now. I’ll LOL then.

A couple nights ago I got a rare from that chest. That was my wake up call and I stopped doing that event. Well over an hour of show up, wait, fight, fight some more, get a yellow item….
I can do better than that on the Maw, Wurm,Golem, Fire Ele train, in about the same amount of time. Anet has no clue about event rewards.
… and Colin will probably say something (anything) in November 2014, something about “not off the table”, and no doubt you or someone who looks like you will be here in 2015 to remind us that Colin said something about “not off the table”, back in November of 2014.
I’m sure they’re watching with great interest to see if it works. There’s probably some guy at NCSoft thinking, “dye evaluator? d’oh, why didn’t I think of that….”
Shhhh, don’t give them ideas, the game has enough money grubbing in the gem store.
I identified 98 dyes in one hit the other day (was going to sell them and should have…). If they introduce anything like this then I’m out of here.
Shhh, don’t give players ideas like that. There is nothing out there

Life could be worse. You could play a Norn light armor profession, and then all of your cultural armor is Shaman (fugly!!!!) style.
I understood the statement before the current CDI started, which is why I did not participate. When player comments and suggestions are not going to become a part of a “work order”, there is no reason to continue with comments or suggestions
There’s a difference between demanding your comments become work orders, and adding your opinion to a discussion in which the devs can use…
I did that, and nothing happened. Many others had the same comments, and nothing happened. I’m done commenting. I’m sure I’m not the only one.
You misinterpreted that statement.

Back in the days before the bunker guardian build was invented I ran into a guy who was obviously scouting camps and ganking yaks. We did the dance a couple of times with no real conclusion because we often just got run over by one side or the other, but it was pretty obvious that we were both looking for each other.
I snuck up on him at the Stargrove camp because he had this habit of standing near the cliff away from the road, waiting for a yak to spawn. I got him with 2 phantasms and 2 rounds of clone shatters, Moa’d him, and GS5 blasted him off the cliff.
Bag appears at my feet and I’m absolutely certain he was doing that f7u13 thing._

The entire moral of this story is, get your achievements done early, before the zerg gets bored or Anet decides to change things, because “we’re not doing it right”.
I say NO for open world dueling but YES for instanced/arena dueling.
I fully agree.
I had hopes that this would be addressed, but I finally just sold off my Azurite. I didn’t have enough for a set of gear, and I’m not going to wait forever on these devs.
Again, we’ve been asking for this since Day 1.
Apple … Orange. Who cares about Fractals we are talking server moves.
Kidding, slightly. That was poorly handled…. …Have they actually implemented whatever the reason for the rollback for Fractals yet? …
They think they did. They are sadly mistaken.
Auto Loot that works. Put the stuff in my bag, thanks.
If my bags get full, I’ll deal with it.
You never close an inactive account.
You never move an inactive account to another server.
Period.
But it’s OK to rollback player progression, as in the Fractals?
It must be tough, standing on one foot and taking aim….
(edited by Herr der Friedhoefe.2490)
In my opinion, it’s not enough. Play for your server, and for fun.
Celestial is going to be same tier on the gear tree as it always has – right near the bottom.
Only in your narrow view of the game. Celestial Ascended Armor lets me play all areas of the game that I enjoy, without having switch gear, traits, and weapons just because I move from WvW to a dungeon.
You don’t have to min/max everything in order to enjoy this game, but Anet doesn’t have to nerf every freaking part of the game either, just because players have found a way to play that might not have intended.
Play the way you want to….
(edited by Herr der Friedhoefe.2490)
You think Assassin gear is going to get boinked by this? Have a look at Celestial stats.
But, but… Rushed buggy zergy content sells minis, and plushy backpacks!!!
New weapons are rares and exos, apparently.
Not even worth playing for, but we all know who is in charge of rewards around here.
I feel the same way as Coop. I’ve been tired of these huge group events almost since they first appeared, particularly the events that push you into overflow.
It seems like, if you don’t have enough people to create an overflow instance, your main server simply wont succeed no matter what you do because you don’t have enough players around.
This new situation with the Assault Knights is the perfect example. You will need 50 at each knight, and only 50. Any more than that at a Knight and you might as well go looking for Peter. If you get lucky or camp one of his spawn spots you can get that achievement on your own.
One thing we get from this though, now we know for certain that the map cap is 150.
To encourage players to split up?

For some reason I can see the champ trains becoming much more popular again tomorrow.
Sad but true. I’m just glad I’ve got the meta done, not that the prize was worth the time spent. Over a year on this story line? For a yellow, a few obsidians, and 5 skill points? I bet I know who was in charge of the rewards for this one!
But finally spiking Scarlet was worth the couple of minutes in that instance.
